Rarely does not mean never… this was a good example of something being blatantly not designed well.
Like??? No, unsurprisingly survivors should not be rewarded with… the strongest status effect in the game, that is like 4 perks combined into one for just looping the killer like normal?
This should not be a hot take to anyone who is sane and not just trying to have a broken poorly designed perk for their own benefit.
it needed a condition i agree just like i agree with dh needing to be hooked first but i disagree with the condition they did which basically killed the perk.
-
@TurnOffTheTVs said:
I mean it's not really that useful anymore but at the same time… if it means not getting what was there before, I don't care. I don't think people realize just how broken being able to just magically gain elusive mid chase was.
You didn't have to do anything other than… loop the killer like normal, and you'd be gifted the strongest status effect in the game. Loop the killer for the effects of like 4 other perks in one, is not exactly well designed. It was talked about and showcased it's problematic nature ad nauseam during the PTB, so no one should be shocked.
ptb is rarely a good indicator of something's strength it has a limited pool of players and it has no matchmaking that's why bhvr have stated before they like to test things on live where everyone gets to try it out first instead of an i quote "doing knee jerk reactions".
this community can absolutely overestimate things it happened with lucky break it happened with overcome..etc.
if you're ok with perks being nerfed to uselessness because you deem them too strong you're part of the problem.
i absolutely despised old dead hard and ds (which were a lot stronger than cross examination) but they were nerfed pretty reasonably multiple times and they're still the most popular perks.

@Nazzzak said:
The game is really quite limited in what they can actually do. Overlaps in powers are inevitable at this point
overlaps in power designs have been happening for quite some time and i don't mind it usually cuz sometimes bhvr can cook up a really cool overlap/ combination of old powers like with dracula and ghoul.
but if that overlap is eventually going to result in recycled powers with new paint then they need to rethink their strategy because that might not hold up for too long and a community fatigue might start to show like how it already happened with dash abilities/dashslop.
-
@Zakon05i think you brought up the worst example imo
cuz Alien chapter was truly stripped of of any original idea and almost any relation to the movies no acid blood no facehuggers nothing that makes xenomorph a xenomorph and we just got nemesis 2.0 Alien has truly been the most disappointing license adaptation in this game and this isn't a rare opinion.

For Afton, Scott is known to be a somewhat difficult person to work with given that he is effectively the only person responsible for FNAF's success other than YouTubers who gave the game a shot. I don't think Afton is flawed, I think he deserves buffs to the doors and their efficacy and essentialness but its not a bad idea at all. The axe is a nod to fan theories and fan content, Scott has historically loved to include those aspects of the FNAF community into official work.
Jason, however, is a jumbled confusing mess from a licensing standpoint and the lack of CCL and Pamela and Tommy being mentioned overtly is most likely due to said mess. HOWEVER, the idea of versatility, brutal kills, and being everywhere at all times is fundamental to his identity as a Slasher and no matter how much people whine that he's simply X,Y,Z killers blended together (aka half the cast added in the last 5 years), they accurately portrayed his personality and mannerisms through the power they cooked up. It deserves tweaks, bug fixes, and maybe a QOL buff or two but on paper, its great and its 100% Jason Voorhees.
i just can't shake this feeling that something is missing with his design
they did manage to adapt the idea of him being everywhere really really well his tp is so fun but when it comes to chase power it's so eh
i would have settled at least for like a big axe he could use to break things faster kinda like carnifex or that gas can from his mori which he could use as a trap at breakable walls or pallets
maybe i fell a victim of my own expectations but i really thought they wouldn't do yet another range ability for THE Jason Voorhees game is already bloated with this type of design and the last one was fairly recent.

I agree, it looks really bad. I think they should have just given Survivors a small S-Rank symbol next to their Perks when he reaches S-Rank.
yeah like the red debuffs under the perks but perhaps the devs thought players would be too dumb to notice that so trickster had to glow like a neon sign instead.

I could be wrong as I haven't played in a long time but I thought after 10 minutes, if gens haven't been worked on, the killer could abandon the match? It counts as a loss if I remember or it may have only been in a ptb for all I know.
yeah if a gen doesn't get done in 10 minutes you can dc not just worked on.
-
completely agree, they need to take another look at her now that the dust has settled cuz some the nerfs they gave her especially from the first hotfix were a bit too much.
her pallet vaults are almost useless as Chucky's scamper now but chucky at least can still break pallets in hidey ho mode but she can't in head form so has to go through a long animation to break the pallet and switch back and repeat at every strong pallet it's ridiculous.
either give her the ability to kick pallets in head form or reduce the vault time slightly.
also the extra stun on pallet stuns feels really bad only killer i can think of that should get such a penalty is nurse since she rarely ever interacts with pallets anyway so it'd make stunning her actually useful but krasue does not need that bro ghoul and blight literally exist.

As the title suggests, I'm curious to know what yall think so far, as a killer who has great AOE control but bad mobility overall, however, in 2v8, I don't like how punishment of the damned is only 11.5 meters, I think 12meters would be nice and I really don't like how you can no longer final judgment someone when they are on death hook unless they were sent to cage of atonement at least once instead of being tormented on death hook regardless of method in doing so, and from what I've noticed, Survivors rarely get tormented in 2v8 matches both when I'm playing as and against, even more so torment is removed after the rescuer and the rescued losing it both at the same time, I think the final judgment needs to be reverted back to the way it was (death hook and tormented, regardless of which cage was used), bc the maps are WAY too big, even for pyramid head to utilize to keep people tormented for larger groups or long periods of time but that's just my opinion/input, but what about yall? What do you think about PH in 2v8?
he's terrible I can't even call the numbers they gave him a buff, buffing his main power with things like lesser cooldown and extra width and travel speed seemed like very obvious to do but instead they give him a pathetic range increase and useless buffs to trails which are not that useful?
he's definitely one if the weakest killers in 2v8 next to nemmy, trapper and ghostface
also huntress should be 115%
-
he has turned from awful to play to awful to play against they absolutely overdid these buffs omg you cannot make any distance now almost nothing you do matters in chase and it's gonna be worse once they completely remove his sensitivity cap or whatever.
-
they will go away until next Halloween
-
absolutely ridiculous suggestion
there's this mechanic where you press a button to kick the pallet making it completely unusable, you should try it.
-
it could work but they'll need to give her a lot of buffs to make her any good but at the same time i really doubt bhvr would include her any time before her rework plus she's not a popular killer people hate her a lot so it's not gonna be a good decision.
-
I'd be very disappointed if they didn't revert the busted and "no one asked for" Sprint burst on demand change they gave to escapist.
that with the 20 sec exhaustion is absurdly overpowered and boring to face but i like the idea of making it based on how many survivors got to benefit from it instead of just exhaustion timer increase. that is if they revert the button press sb
-
still not fixed, this is sad
-
well just because you're playing a new killer doesn't mean you're new to the role itself so it doesn't make sense for it to give you less skilled survivors so you can stomp easily just because you're learning a new power.
all killers pretty much share the same mechanics and gameplay loop except nurse if you wanted to practice a certain killer then you have bots which should to an extent teach you how to be comfortable with the power and how it works before you get into real matches.

I love using Circle of Healing to be honest, it can really be helpful for any type of match if you all need a reset after being hit, it's good for solo queue or swfs in my experience.
I can't say the same for the other boons to be honest, the effects aren't worth the time setting it up, and like you said, the boon can be destroyed quickly and can be found easily due to how loud it is, but I will stand by that Circle of Healing is a very great perk, I run it every match.
coh is so underrated it's still very good for resets
shadow step is very powerful especially on indoors
exponential is too but depends on if the killer slugs or not.
dark theory is great but the small radius unfortunately hinders its effectiveness it's better used at strong structures like main building.
boone are still really good if people gave em the chance.

How do I deal with killer anxiety? It's such a big problem for me, I'll spend minutes staring at the que button, just to switch to survivor… how do I deal with this? And why does it happen?
i remember when i was relatively new and was terrified of playing killer.
but i was very actively watching lots of videos about the role which made me more knowledgeable on how to play it properly.
and then i just stuck it up and played matches and realized it's not that hard plus with time i felt like chasing was the most fun thing so i stopped caring about results like kills and went into the games with mentality of just chasing and that made the role a lot more fun and less stressful ( i still got lots of 4ks but i also was letting lots of survivors go with everyone 2 hooked cuz i had my fun)
-
these are not the problem with skull merchant this is how she always worked since her rework.
drones are for chase not to put on objectives and get free tags and info.
-
I've been meaning to talk about those perks for a while, i am glad they changed the 2 gen kicks activation requirement but the perk still had a glaring issue, they'd very rarely if ever activate
you already need a gen done to get value which is not a good thing so it should at least be allowed an easier activation.
the perks should be allowed to apply to more than one gen, 2 max just to be safe
please bhvr 🙏.

Last year I was so excited for this game. Invested a lot of money, time and even spent quite some time here, in these forums, expressing all my concerns with balance. At that time I ended up being mildly threatened by your community managers on private messages while they all disregarded and challenged every issue I brought into discussion. Now I get it.
When a multi million dollar company allows this mess of a patch to come out to live servers, you can no longer expect any understanding about balance and even basic knowledge on how their own game is played.
There’s a huge metal crap in every lobby, you didn’t notice it? Guess no. Besides the plethora of bugs, the game design is just nuts. Who thought it was a good idea to create a perma infinite item that disorients every player? (Without considering people that have disabilities for example). You are disappointing. I was one of your dream clients, bought a lot of cosmetics, enjoyed the game, watched streams, supported the game and even recommended it to a lot of my friends. You might not care, I get it, but you are becoming a company that’s losing their community, like Blizzard. Play your game or hire real players to tell you all the issues.
When you have a league that is forced to implement nerfs in order to give a side a chance, something is clearly wrong. I’m done with DBD. So sad.
all this over the new item and a visual bug in the offering screen?
-
i cannot fathom how there's not even a single new killer addition in this 2v8
this is literally what everyone expects of it when it comes back why bhvr why 😭😭😭😭

Saying that a killer needs a new power and why is feedback enough whether you like it or not, frankly, get over it
you're just annoyed at a killer and want to see them nerfed with no valid reason or the slightest idea of a proper change just "idk, delete/rework"
houndmaster is an underwhelming killer and the survivors have a lot more to do against her than she can do against them and on top of that she's a buggy mess so you can't even properly gauge her power level cuz she hasn't been fully functional since her release yet you're complaining like she's blight.
-
you could just step away and let them open it for themselves why do you gotta down them , take em to the gate and watch if they keep not trusting you??

He's not a "D tier killer"
Use your own brain, and stop allowing other big content creators to think for you.
he absolutely is, one of the weakest killers in the game.
-
@SpringMyTrap said:
considering that springtrap is an incredibly mid killer on a weaker side of things because of how survivors can beat him without even engaging with using counterplay, it's definitely the issue of outdated killers.
oh i agree, he's not that good
i still think the undetectable timer is ridiculous tho compared to every other stealth killer.
-
@LordGlint said:
Now that the bugs that were affecting survivors against him is apparently fixed... let's see how he fairs now. It's also important to note Sadako, Demo and Springtrap are wildly different. Taking 1 aspect of them to compare in a vacuum isn't exactly fair. Onryo's teleport does more than just move her around. She also has her condemned mechanic going on. Demo's portals can be placed just about anywhere and he's not sharing them with anyone.
for onryo i only mentioned the stealth aspect of her i know her teleport mechanic require special balancing due to condemned.
but what i don't understand is why an m1 killer with no chase power or instadown have a lullaby when in stealth
and with the addition of visual heartbeat you can never get surprised by a sadako when demanifested
-
it might take a loong while but i believe it'll happen naturally with time as long as he's in your regular rotation and not just playing him for the achievement.
-
can you guys please reconsider this system? this hurts a lot of people who play fairly than it does to rage quitters.
a lot of people might not have stable internet or might be going against cheaters often (which are rampant right now and nothing was done about it still)
at least make it 5- 10 matches but 20 is ridiculous.
-
-
i see no reason botany needs a revert, ever since self healing was nerfed it didn't need the efficiency penalty are we forgetting the reason it had that penalty in the first place? it was at a time of pre nerf medkits and boons and both those got destroyed so botany had no reason to stay the way it was
if you got a medkit out of a chest and you had botany you were screwed this is not fair at all and only made the perk useful for altruistic heals but then you could just run we'll make it or smth and get better value.
pls stop having knee jerk reactions to everything whenever a new perk or a buffed perk gets released people scream it's op for no reason then they get heavily nerfed before we even see how they effect matches and then never get seen again we don't need more terrible perks.
-
being 99ed without having a way to get rid of it feels awful but at the same time ghostface is a terrible killer so nerfing him doesn't seem the way to go.
they could perhaps make it so stalk regresses to 80/90% and buff him in another way idk.

Can someone tell me why Kaneki still has 0 cd on basic attacks after using power to vault. We have killer with better mobility than Wesker and being able to use power to vault or catch up and still instantly hit. Makes no sense. I could literally run the smallest, but safe loop with dropped pallet but still can't make it running that 2 meters for the vault before killer already hits me after vaulting.
you can bait the pallet drop and in many cases you can make it around the pallet/ somewhere else before he can hit you.
there's no need to nerd ghoul anymore.
-
putting a 2 token cool down on his power after a pallet break was a hefty nerf to this killer
it forced the players to resort to using the scamper or try to bloodlust the pallet and if it's a safe pallet after a safe pallet they'll just have to break it and won't be able to catch up or do anything.
i don't think he requires anymore nerfs unless this particular nerf is made less punishing.

@frozzenk said:
Just title.
Doesn't it seem a bit hypocritical from the devs to allow survivors to give up and go next when they're in a losing situation (all survivors are down) but when killers are in a losing situation they are not given the same option? When the gates are opened the killer can't just give up if they want to. They have to be there for match completion as the survivors teabag at the gate or spam fast vaults, etc.
I'm not asking about whether or not it would be optimal to give up in this situation. That's not the point. The point is that there is no option for A team, but there is one for B team. A team is forced to play their losses to the end. B team is not. Where is the balance in this situation?
both cases are not in anyway comparable
you as killer can open the gates and push the survivors out there's no way for survivors to hold you hostage but you are being such a snowflake that you can't handle seeing a couple of button presses
while survivors can spend 4 minutes on the ground with no way to overcome it and if they dc they get penalized
bhvr didn't put the abandon option in the killer's case because 1- just cause all gens are done doesn't mean you Lost 2- you can end the game yourself you're not being held against your will.
-
i don't miss the balance and lack of variety of old dbd but definitely miss it's vibe and how chill it was
-
@lettuchia said:
Please just remove singularity's extra movement speed entirely...and babysitter didn't need a buff whatsoever
no, he's so bad without the haste there was a reason why he was so dependent on the soma family photo addon and everyone ran it.
2- it's an anti tunnel perk that you can't force on the killer it just helps you get distance when getting tunneled nothing wrong with that.
-
haste stacking was never an issue
if some perks get out of hand like pre nerf mft they can be dealt with individually without destroying fun build variety for the sake of "balance" that was never needed in the first place since haste perks have pretty strict conditions and requirements most of the time.
i was at least hoping that if they go through with it they'd buff lackluster haste perks that depended on stacking like they promised but we ended up with buffs to already ok perks like champion of light and unbound while perks like blood pact, power of two, game afoot were left in a sad state.
i am very glad they went back on this change it wasn't needed unless they make haste perks actually worth using on their own which they didn't and probably can't without making them too much to handle.
-
i think what hurts slinger is his lack of map pressure more than anything and idk how you can fix that
I'd also love to see him 4.6 but i think that'd make him a bit oppressive
they should honestly make him 24m terror radius again he needs the surprise ability due to how slow he is.
-
they said he's getting some changes for hotfix 2 he's like 2 weeks old do you guys have no patience.
do you expect changes in an instant??

@TragicSolitude said:
It seems better to have a single perk do something well rather than stack two weak perks to get value in some niche situation. I'd prefer stronger perks, but as long as perks can be stacked, they can't be strong. Stacking is a balancing nightmare. I'm amazed they've been allowed to stack for so long.
I am willing to be on copium for now and wait to see if they could actually make the lesser used haste perks like blood pact, dark theory and power of two actually useful outside swf or stacking
but if you buff haste perks to being useful on their own that might just become too powerful
and if you don't then this change just seals the deal on these perks making them have 0% pick rate.

Yeah, and that was a good start.
Things like penti and thana stacking is a big part why thana got nerfed, because almost 3 minutes for a single gen was obscene.
This also, BTW, applies to progression: so things like deja Vu, prove, etc no longer stack either.
It feels like some people really, really want this to apply to survivors only (for "gen rushing" and haste), yet then melt down when it also gets applied to killers.
it makes sense for gens but i really disapprove of them doing it for niche fun builds that might occasionally get value.

Dunno if it's FNAF's "fault" or not but I'm really disliking the streamlining changes they are doing lately. The game is losing more and more of its identity and charm.
i totally agree, i hate to see fun aspects of the game getting removed for the purpose of streamlining the game for new players making the game way too basic and boring when dbd has a very good balance of being easy to get into but having a high skill and game knowledge cap.
same when cosmetic description were made way too simple like "she kinda liked the pink hair" not adding anything to character lore and that got many complaints from the community.
i wish bhvr would stop trying to make dbd follow the stable of every other popular pvp games out there.

MFT was nerfed, because it was too powerful. Really bad example to bring it up.
it stayed in the game for like half a year i think before the devs thought it needed a change after millions of complaints from players so..
plus i believe you could run 4 haste perks as a solo survivor rn and they still wouldn't even reach pre nerf mft in strength
haste stacking is not strong as haste perks release with very strict conditions especially for survivors.
