That is if the killer isn't reading you a bed time story while you're on the hook.

Awww such a nice killer, dropping everything to read you a bedtime story and make sure non of the other will come and taking advantage of your helpless situation by fondle you at the hook. What a great protector. And in the end, mama entity comes and embraces you in her clawy arms to send you to bed. She may accidentally poke you because of clumsiness and silly animation. But we all love you and wish you well.

  • Look it from a game dev perspective. The game needs always a way out for survivors to be entertaining and hooking (no pun intended). The hatch provides a luck factor in the game and getting a lucky hatch gives a nice rush of dopamine for the survivors. Yes it is frustrating for the killer, but there are 4/1 ratio...so bad luck (literally).

One thing I would argue is the hatch opening when the last survivor is alive and exit gates are open and all but one survivor left. But this is also an edge case and can have it's reasons.

  • It is called animation lock. I see, you don't have a deep understanding of videogames.

The killer pressed his space before you wiggled free and so started the booking animation (this also the snapping in place while hooking)

As a survivor you can take advantage of this during pickup animation and pallet breaking to blind the killer if you memorize the animation.

The same animation lock can issue hits, like at pallets. If your hitbox yet have to traverse a pallet or window, thus wanky hits (plus latency).

At least you can use your DS after the unhook.

  • I would add a text filter in the post game chat to prevent salt and toxicity to spread in the game.

Only once the hatch is closed. If they camp hatch waiting to spot you, you can do gens.

    How often would this happen?

If I would call the hatch, the moment you pop a gen, I know where you are, can close the hatch, initiate EGC and chase you down. I would love to see the perk to become a viable, last man standing perk.

  • @SlothGirly said:

Coming from a killer perspective, I think it could be a niche perk if it gives you a non-exhausting sprint burst after completing a gen when you're the last survivor; else another idea could be to give a weaker version of Iron Will and Calm Spirit when last alive that would stack on each other.

There are no gens if you are the last survivor. That exactly my point.

  • Maybe she just don't like SWFs, because your very existence is nerfing her Knock Out and that Hex Perk, was it Hex:Third Seal? If yes, than your decision to use voice (I assume you and your 3 friends are using voice) just disabled or invalidated half of her Perks.

It's no excuse, just a possible explanation.

It's your right to play with your friends, and it's her right to be pissed, that the game play is so inconsistent that one SWF group can disable your perks, just by communicating.

  • I am directly thankful for the amazing @Patricia for listen to our request to remove the pallet stun sfx, that red flash.

I love her, for how she handled that and how fast they reacted after she brought it up.

  • Prayer Beads get countered by Spine Chill. I don't see a problem.

Spine Chill is a useful perk in general so not a waste of a slot.

Samination predicting the future once again. First Ghost Face and now this. Dude can't be stopped.

Does that mean Trapper rework confirmed?! =)

    Hurray!

May the mighty Oracle be praised!

  • I dislike SWFs, most of them have an inflated ego and are super toxic in game and in post chat, especially if you win the match.

Using 3th party program to get and advantage feels like cheating, especially if they team up with low rank survivors to bully mid rank killers.

It also ruins the variety of perks and playstyles I can chose.

  • Mathieu throws catnip at the survivor and Cooper just jumps them, hinders them as he rubs himself all over the survivor and the purring let's Mathieu know where the survivors are hiding to down them with his banhammer! Alternative he can have a nerf gun, that at first just slows the survivor with every successful hit until they cannot move anymore and collapse in defeat.

Peanits has Spies in the Shadows build in. He has a power meter that let's him turn into a murder of crows to traverse the map faster, maybe even ignore some terrain. He either can afflict Deepwound in his murder form and be a legion 3.0 or he could manifest at the end of the flight and lunge at a survivor.

Patricia would be like a sexy horror version of a secretary and by tipping her glasses she blasts open windows and pallets.

Since none of the killers have a practice mode, I've unintentionally deranked by focusing on learning the killers power and ignoring the hook part of the game. I've gotten much better at learning proper chainsaw techniques with both HB and LF, better hatchet throws and still getting the hang of nurse blinks (on console). It's refreshing to be able to learn and make mistakes without also worrying about "winning."

No practice mode, you run in open doors.

I always wondered why I cannot practice killers in a dummy mode. Like KYF but access it solo vs the AI survivors/killers from the tutorial. Just to see how the powers work, testing perks and learn the basics map layouts. Why don't we have a practice mode after 3 years but we will get a battle pass... @Peanits ?

  • I like Moris. I would love to make/be morieable after the 2nd hook.

Ebony Mori for me puts some real stakes into the match. You need to play your best or you get killed, as it should be, as a half naked David King vs a guy with a chainsaw.

As a killer it's cool to relieve some pressure and take revenge on SWFs and toxic survivors.

I would love to see more of the lovely animations.

The devs seriously need to make a “SWF” Category in the forums OR consolidate all these threads.

The horse is dead, the horse’s carcasse is gone, it’s soul has left and you are now just beating on dead air.

This statement is stupid and shows a lack of understanding.

I feel the need to stress out, that I think the statement is stupid and not you as a person.

As long as DBD attracts new players we will see SWF threads pop up.

At rank 20 you almost never encounter SWF groups or they are learning the game alongside you.

As you get better and rank up, you will run into a SWF group eventually and it will hit you like a brick wall. All of a sudden all the mechanics and rules of the game are turned upside down.

Either your team won't react or help you as usual and as a killer suddenly a red rank survivor will loop you the entire game. Because as a new or freshly killer you cannot know how to loop against red ranks and you get angry and frustrated.

On top, perks like Hex: Third Seal and Knockout, what had helped you before to slow down the game and confuse the survivors are turned invalid thanks to voice. Something you never thought of before.

At this point encountering SWFs is feeling like encountering cheaters. Especially when they are using 3th party programs. (I know they are whitelisted)

So naturally they either get turned off by the game and leave, get their frustration out on the forums and eventually have to grind the game until they themselves develop red rank skills.

But the game at red ranks have their own issues.

Gen rush and lack of viable killers.

I can understand that you are sick of seeing SWF post, but try to understand what struggle has motivated a player to post this.

  • I think we need to wait until next year to get reliable data from BHVR. 13. Septemberish dedicated servers will go live and they can have 3 month to collect and analyze the data.

It would be cool if we get at the end of each week/month/chapter a statsheet.

    I would love that.

    @Peanits

  • What is the ingame difference from a survivor dc vs a survivor run at the killer and die on the first hook?

  • I don't derank, I quiet like the challenge. I just want to understand the ruling and reasoning behind it.

Is there any official statement about this? And if, why are those chases threaten differently?

  • @Venoxxie said:

So... rank 2 killer = fair for rank 13 survivor? Nice logic.

You are an amazing specimen of logic. One rank 2 killer fair for a rank 13 survivor is unfair?

But a rank 13 killer against rank 2 survivor with one or more friends and the power of voice and coordination is ok?

    Think before you type.

Rank 2 killer against a Rank 13 survivor with at least the support from one Rank 2 survivor and the other survivors are likely around Rank 2 as well. You still have voice, that can give you a heads up to hide or run early enough and the Rank 2 SWF can either guide, protect and/or safe you. Or at least having a fun time playing with a friend.

  • I still want my hook on a chain killer! I would love to yank survivors from the exit gates, while they are tbagging.

  • David King with beard, because he looks similar to me and Blendette when I feel competitive. And Killer, of course my girl Hag!

  • Beast of Prey: if you get BL your red stain will be removed.

Killer: you mean, like when I mindgame and turn my camera and walk backwards to hide my red stain?

BoP: Yes exactly...oh. Well...uh...you like BP right? Right. How about I give you extra hunting BP? That's amazing! Right?

Killer: I can use an Offering for that or some killer even have add-ons with that exact feature. Why should I sacrifice a perkslot for that?

BHVR: We will look into that.

    Killer: When?

BHVR: After the servers are running.

Killer: Ok...but this is not another Freddy/DS thingy that will takes years right? Right?!

I actually just checked out of curiosity; his usage just gradually dropped over time. There is no moment where people suddenly stopped using him (e.g. perk gets nerfed, everyone switches).

Basically it's just what normally happens for survivors. When a new one comes out, a lot of people play them to get their perks (and try them out ASAP). As they unlock the teachable perks, they switch back to their main survivor where they already have every other perk. The older a survivor is, the more people typically play them.

So cut the grind in that way we could get a higher variety of survivors to adore in game.

You just need practice, practice makes perfect. When Spirit first came out I thought she was crap and then she became one of the best, when Ghostface came out he was crap and now he is mediocre, shame they gave him that hotfix.

Spirit was buffed to heaven until she is competitive as she is right now.

She wasn't only bad at start, because no one knew how to play her, she was underpowered and benefitted from specific buffs to her kit and gameplay.

Lets analysis him: He can shroud so no terror radious or red light so no mind games from survivors, crouch like the pig but 100% faster, hide like wraith, stalk like mayers but in less than 1 sec when mayers needs 5 mins or even more if you play on the farm map, he oneshot survivors, he has sprint chase like Meg or Legion, run when crouching like Nea, do teabags like survivors, black clothes by default withouth need buy cosmetics, overall insane agility and speed, no counter since no counter survivor was releassed in his DLC, the supossed counter its look at him wich mostly end in the survivor giving an alert sound and visual signal to the killer, not to mention the killer dont give a crap they try counter him since you dont need stealth to oneshot the survivor and the stealth can be activated again after 60 seconds. There is nothing new true, but if you put all toguether he literally its a mix of all the good things, like oneshot from mayers withouth the negative stuff of mayers, the speed of legion withouth need hit the survivor 4 times, survivor habilitys, now add his aura reading habilitys, in the opposite of the nurse who need hurt the survivors to read auras and have many downsides like fatigue or leather face that need hook the survivors but its fat and cant run much, "all ears" skills allows you to read auras withouth do anything, you just need sit and waith until someone make noise and there its your aura reading activated withouth do anything to earn it, add also his hability to lock the engines so survivors cant gen rush, ghotface its pure p2w and has all the good stuff that killers asked for withouth 1 single downside = P2W killer

OoO absolutely counters his ability and make him to a loopable m1 killer. No need for an extra anti-GF-survivor.

If you are too absorbed in chatting with your buddies over voice you might not hear his leather squeeking loud or see him approaching.

If you look at the one shots he can perform, mostly it's in the fault of his oblivious victims. There are only a few maps where he can stalk freely without someone seeing him from a mile.

If you can loop a m1 killer, you should have no trouble with him or his powers. If you don't like to run OoO you surely like DH. One good timed press of a button and he is out of stealth or slam a pallet on him. 40s to run away from a no mobility m1 killer at max.

I advice you to play GF for a while and come back to give a more informed review.

  • Don't bring real life logic into the game. If a pallet is dropped on me, I simply could stop it with one hand. They are no indestructible and unstoppable forces.

As a killer I would take it and smack you with it for trying something that stupid on me.

in lol we are talking of platinum 4 matched with platinum 3...here we are ranking of rank 1-2 players matched with rank 19 20 killers :) its as match a lol bronze player with a platinum 1 player...guess what is going to happen?and do you think the bronze player will be happy and will continue playing the game?.

so you put 3 plat player with a bronze friend against a silver/gold player. You 3 plat just rekt the enemy team.

Here you put 3 plat with a bronze friend against a silver/gold killer. guess what, you ruin the fun of an entire party.

    It's nice that you agree.

  • There is a long history of posts that advocate for SWFs be matched with their top ranked members and not the average.

    It's old news.

Other games like LoL matches you with slightly higher mmr opponents if you play with friends to balance the matches.

  • What most not understand is, it was never us vs them.

Right now we have 3 "factions" in the game solo survivors, SWFs and killers. But that's not true. We all can play and do play in every faction, we just gravitate towards one or another.

What is complained about is, that some ignorant players rather cry the devs a river until they get drowned by salt and water and they cave in. (Happen before with Freddy and other releases) Instead investing the time, playing the culprit character for themselves, learn how they work and develop counterplay. And each time the devs cave in aka "lost to salty survivors" the game gets worse and less enjoyable. It's understandable that some passionate players like to defend their favorite killer (especially if it is the only universal viable one with a high skill ceiling. They spend a lot of time learning her.)

Since the game launched there is a longing for alternatives to gens from all players, yet non is delivered or changed. Without arguing hiding and chasing are the exciting elements of the game, yet the entire game revolves around to cut it out. As a killer you don't want long extensive chases or searching for a survivor, because you are on a clock. Even as survivors, yes it's fun to loop a killer or sneak past one, but in the end you just buy some time and hope your team is doing worthwhile, because in the end you only win by completing gens.

SWFs are a big factor in the joy for many and the ruin of joy for many others. Solos and killers alike. On one hand it is unfair to have access to so much more information and simply by chosing to use it, reducing the viable perks and tactics a killer can use. Every thread so far that spoke in favor to give all survivors the same information as SWFs was unanimously shut down with the same reasoning. It would be too powerful, easy and would rob the fun for some solo players. But this disconnection causes every month SWFs are cheating threads to pop up, as new players get confronted anew with them. It should never be an attack on the friendship of some or their desire to play with each other, but acknowledge the information and power imbalance. There is a difference, yes over all it may be just slightly but in the edge chases it really has an impact. Just put yourself in the shoes of a new player, loves killers and survivors alike and suddenly run into a red rank, 2 purple and a yellow rank survivor, all in the same SWFs, and suddenly his game is turned upside down. As a mid rank green killer he suddenly is facing survivors way out of his league and gets frustrated by the lack of options he has available to counter them. Yes, git gut can apply here, and eventually he would become good. But if he hits the wall so hard, that he just throw up his arms and just walks away from the game, he never get to the point. It's like a hobby runner has to compete with some top athletes. All of a sudden he gets outrun and left behind. Is he bad? Not for his level, but it still feels ######### and may discourage from trying harder.

DS was a perks that was toxic for 3 years until it was nerfed. It is still a strong Perk. What I don't understand is, why weeks after the DS nerf they shipped Ashe with MoM. This perk should never had left the design board. The devs should have learned from DS and come up with an other perk. Thankfully they didn't wait 3 years this time, but still it's unfair to all the buyers of MoM.

In my opinion the devs should even out the gap between SWFs and solos by giving the solos the option to access the same information. If someone enjoys hard mode, more power to you my friend. But the game as a whole can get adjusted and be more fair and fun, as well challenging for everyone.

Most killers just need some minor tweaks to become viable and enjoyable to play as or against. You can use the search function of the forum to see plethora of post and suggestions.

One of my personal wishes always was a rework of the bloodweb, so the game is less grindy and more accessable for new players. Who doesn't want the game to grow?

In the end we are one community, playing the same game and caring so much, that we take time out of our lives to read and make a post to express our opinions and feelings. Yes you don't have to agree with, but don't be an ass and dismiss it.

If you don't care, move on.

If it's wrong, help them to understand and speak truth.

If you enjoy, share the happiness.

    See you in the fog!

Well, majority of Freddy add-ons even aren't worth using.

Another example for a unfinished rework. You are supporting my chase. Thank you.

  • @LordGlint said:

@Cymer Considering you only need to use a common (brown) addon for Freddy's pallets, I wouldnt really consider him addon dependent. Even if you use pallets EVERY game, your likely to NEVER run out of addons for pallet use.

you still lose one add-on slot.

I don't like restrictions. I rather have a choice and flexibility how I can play.

  • Nurse: only universal viable killer

Legion, was a joke at launch, his rework removed the movement boost advertised in his trailer by stabbing the air, made mending more useless and the promised incentive of hitting multiple targets was never fulfilled.

Plague, underwhelming killer. The holding vomit at normal ms would be a nice buff. How many Plague do you see, that aren't doing dailies?

Pig preemptively nerfed just because it could have been an EGC issue...but it wasn't so revert maybe?

Freddy got gutted after a week and now most players prefer the pallet add-ons over the snares. Could the devs exchange them? For sure, will they? Certainly not. So Freddy is another add-on depending killer for all who favors the pallets.

Meanwhile LF has to share his add-ons with Billy. The Trapper really could profit from carrying more than one trap and rearm those on the ground. Our Bing Bong Boi is forgotten, he even cannot find himself.

The Doctor is a frustrating to play against, add-on dependent m1 killer.

Hag, Spirit, Shape and Billy are in a good spot.

Clown lacks map pressure and survivors learned to loop against him and thus making his kit void.

Ghostface is fine after some buffs.

And Huntress is overrated. Her hitboxes are broken and she got some OP add-ons. A good or lucky shooter can snipe you from afar, but experienced survivors can use their 3d camera to dodge incoming hatchets or deny a straight line.

  • Let's see: BBQ

Let's you see the aura of survivors when hooking one more than 40m away and gives nice BP boni.

As survivor you can hide inside lockers, behind gens or even use the aura to mindgame the killer if you are good.

Spirit, Billy and Nurse really can capitalize on the perk thanks to their mobility, but they are top tier anyway.

I think BBQ is a balanced perk.

  • Seriously I got together with a rank 3,8 and 10 there was a rank 14 too but as a rank 13th killer it is freaking unfair and frustrating!

There are multiple threads about how swf ruin the game, especially for new players (on both sides)

The devs are fully aware what impact and damage swf have on the game but refuses to do anything, because they hide behind the "we cannot prohibit people to communicate with eachother"

Yes, you cannot prevent players from calling you on the phone to communicate, but you can keep in mind that swf almost certainly is using some form of communication and adjust the game accordingly.

Bonus BP for killers as compensation, gameplay elements that compensate for the information imbalance and void perks and addons.

The options are many but they are not lukrative so f you new player, suck it up.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

  • @zaozaoxx said:

addon-nurse found that Rin is more mindless

There is some true to this.

Nurse is such a high skill, high risk high reward killer that it can be really stressful to be constant on top of your game.

Spirit can achieve similar things with her phasing but with her regular movement speed and no exhaustion downside she is just more versatile and fun to play.

  • I absolutely agree with the OP.

I told the devs in multiple posts that the grind and new user experience is horrible.

If we experience a long queue time due to a lack of survivor players we need to raise the incentive to play and lower the entry level.

Right now the are finally even out the BP gain for both sides, but as every killer can tell you, even 25-30k is hardly enough to meaningful level up or main a high level of viability on red ranks.

The reason why we only see Nurse, Billy and Spirit and rad ranks is, the other killers often need specific perks, add-on and even offerings to be competitive.

Rework the blood web as highest priority and get rid of the useless tier levels of all the perks.

    That would reduce the grind.

It still baffles me how you can prestige a character without even getting all it's native perks at tier 3.

  • The EGC is not about letting the survivors out 9/10 cases. The EGC is here to prevent games to be drawn out to infinity.

If you are the last survivor and the killer found the hatch before you, you just were unlucky. you can try out to open a gate, that's it.

Both of you can move on to a new game.

Solution 1: EGC does not trigger when the hatch is closed.

-If the hatch closed the game could go on forever. One survivor doing how many gens? 1-5 with the new hatch. That's not realistic.

Solution 2: Make the hatch visible to all players at the start of every trial.

-Almost every killer have a higher movement speed than the survivors, that's just unfair to play against.

Solution 3: 60 seconds is added to the EGC timer for every survivor that was sacrificed/killed.

-the entire point of the EGC is to wrap the game up, not elongate it.

Solution 4: Every map has a special chest that cannot be opened until EGC has triggered, in the chest is a purple key.

-free item, that can be trapped and camped...not so good.

Solution 5: Exit Gates ALWAYS spawn as far as possible from each other.

    -should be the case.

  • I played original RO and I know grind. But grinding for BP is unfun and unrewarding for me.

I hate the restrictions that comes with not being able to experiment with perks to find new and engaging ways to play and enjoy DBD.

To me it feels like an entry level fee paid with prescious time to have the opportunity to try out new stuff in a real match.

Some grind even gives you incredible advantage on Blendettes (brown and bloodied...what a nightmare to spot on certain maps)

I just recently talked with a mods how fun some add-ons are and I (as well a lot more) would love to be able to switch around the killers powers then to grind for add-ons and offerings. (Scratched Mirror Myers on Lerys 's with mandatory lunge add-on)

Other then in most Grundy games I have played, in the end I don't get my unique character.

If the grind would let me customize my killer/survivor I would be more then happy to flesh out my personal killer and personal survivor.

Especially with the survivors it would be cool to get some personality than simple skins (besides hidden buffs and nerfs like Blendettes, silent Dwights and grunty Jeff)

  • @Peanits how many killers players are in the game vs how many survivors are in the game?

And if you say, there is a lack of survivors, what is your personal opinion on why there is less survivors and how would you change it if you had free reign and no restrictions?

I would give survivors something else to do than just play m1 simulator and because SWFs can play cross ranks, I would open up the ranks so there would be faster matches.

  • Survivors, Blendettes. How on some maps she becomes invisible is bs.

Killer, I have to say Legion. He just wastes my time and is annoying. Doc is annoying too, but in a scary good way.

  • BT is fine if you don't tunnel.

Adrenaline is unfair in regard, that you cannot counter it. Altering Adrenalin would hinder no healing meta, what's a good thing in my book.

  • infront of the locker.

Now spot my blendette( tip, she is holding a toolbox)

    Blendette.png

  • It depends entirely on the survivor.

If it was a fun and challenging match I have no issue to give them the hatch, I even bring you there on my shoulder.

Or if your team are just potatoes and screwed you over, like just goofing around and griefing and you are the only one that did some gens I will let you gleefully go.

But if you are toxic af you die.

  • One thing I'll never understand is why people feel the need to camp unless that survivor ran you for all 5 gens (Which would still be your own fault for chasing them that long) than there's no reason to camp.

You can have the ban if we get one for tbagging and flashlight flickering in sight of the killer. Same rules apply. Deal?

Ah I see what you mean. I'm guessing people just decided to speedily power through the puke, leaving her with not a lot of ways to stop them. It's like a worse version of the pig's headset because that, at least, forces them to go and throw it off if they don't want to die.

There would be such an easy solution...like a gradually worsening of the action speed for survivors because you are sick and feeling not so well, like Thanatophobia or if you are in Freddys dreamworld.

If you want to go all the way, after a minute of puking you collapse of exhausting and are in dying state. You know, because you are puking green stuff?

  • What about just a movement speed buff for the low tier killers? Just raise their ms by 1-5%

  • Killers have no control over genrushing, dc, suicide on the first hook, survivors throwing themselves at you and if you are too efficient with your killing you even lose out points...to rank up you need to play the party clown and still killing everyone in the end...fun game mechanic without any incentive besides "a feeling of pride and accomplishment" at rank 1.

That's why I only play for fun and BP and hate toxic SWFs.
