  • No one is less morale for deciding to use the strongest stuff in a pvp game. Feels like too many people forget that the killer is their opponent not their friend.

  • At 2 survivors left, the issue isn't the killer having pain res procs left.

  • The official stats show Doctor has the lowest kill rate of all killers. It's important to note that while Doctor can repeatedly shocked, shocking a survivor doesn't do damage and the slowdown from charging doesn't grant much distance on the survivor. If a Doctor keeps shocking you at a tile, then he's not making distance and he's not damaging you so he's wasting his own time.

I didn’t say they should get a free unhook. I’m meeting you halfway. The bar should still go up slightly. I’m not talking exponential rates or anything crazy, however, it should slightly go up a little bit.

Especially if the killer is face camping. That’s the whole purpose of the mechanic. The Survivor isn’t gonna be able to do anything anyways. Its not going to hurt the killer if the mechanic meter goes up a tiny bit while being face camped. That defeats the purpose of a face camping mechanic.

    @MikaelaWantsYourBoon Maybe I am wrong? 🤷🏼‍♂️

If the killer is facecamping, survivors need to stay away from the hook and do gens. Running at the hook to only go down is not the fault of the anti-facecamp system. The survivors simply misplayed.

Because I've seen on other posts you say something about it.

I've stated that survivors don't spread out progress on gens so there's no reason to expect killers to spread out hook states. Not really sure where you get "complaining about gen rushing" from that.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

    I partially agree.

I get that as a killer main but it’s a downed survivor. They can’t contribute. They’re a non threat to a hook save.

The meter only slows down for killers when other survivors are nearby because they are swarming in for the save. A slugged survivor can’t do anything while he’s got his face in the dirt.

The meter should gradually and slowly rise. Not crazy fast but at least a little bit as opposed to nothing.

It's still the fault of the survivor for getting themselves down near the hook. Survivors shouldn't get free unhooks bc they messed up.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

I feel as if the killer slugs, anybody near the hook Survivor the meter should go up if the killer remains next to the hook. I see many times where the killer will camp it out because they can. Generally, because the survivor forgets to get away from the hook and crawl.

I believe the meter should definitely go up if a slug survivor is near the hook.

if a survivor gets themselves down by the hook, the killer shouldn't be punished for using that for additional pressure.

Survivors need to be smarter about how they save.

So why tell survivors to rush gens if you don't like it think that went over your head. Your advocating to gen rush but survivors don't advocate to tunnel.

Idk why you are acting like I'm personally complaining about gen rushing.

  • The hatch is a nessicary evil. Without the hatch the last survivor will just hide the entire time. No reason to attempt opening a door and no timer forcing the game to end.

  • every perk to do with survivors get nerfed some way, however killers seem to get buffed through their ability giving them a higher chance regardless. look at the patch notes.

Quick Gambit was buffed and STBFL was nerfed in patch 7.5. Let's not owned pretend that both sides don't get buff and nerfs.

what is the point of the face camping meter?

To provide a means for survivors to deal with facecamping. Since it's addition facecamping is at all time low so it was very successful at the job it was intended to.

tunnelling and slugging! lets face it, a problem that still continues.

Despite how you feel about these tactics, there's nothing wrong with them. They are simply means a killer has to build pressure against the survivor team. The killer is facing 4 players and has the task to eliminate them.

I love it how killer mains say it's just a skill issue. What? its a skill issue that i cant do gens because I'm being chased by a killer and being constantly watched whilst on hook or being slugged for that matter. in what universe is that a skill issue?

Your job as survivor isn't just to do gens. You need to be able to keep the killer busy for long enough so your teammates can get gens done. Sometimes games will be lost not bc if your skill, but do to the skill of others on your team. This is a problem that exists in any game you play on a team. However you can't fix the issues with your teammates you can only work on improving your ability to distract the killer.

If that's the case then why do killers complain about gen rushing lol.

Same reason why survivors complain about tunneling.

Neither side likes having the game end before they've completed their objective.

  • They made a change already where mmr is adjusted based on how many survivors escape.

  • People don't queue to play with bots.

Deliverance requires you to both be on your first hook and to already have unhooked someone else to activate and leaves you broken after you use it. It has enough conditions that it's fine for it to work in endgame as well.

Wicked on the other hand, if it's your first hook and you go down near basement you get too unhook for free. That's why it should be disabled in endgame (at least the unhook part, aura read is fine to work in endgame as well)

You can simply not hook in the basement if you are worried about it.

  • Deliverance works in end game so I see no reason why wicked shouldn't

  • @Yharwick said:

I think it's a strong perk, stronger than botany/self-care. You can still run it with botany for turbo heals but you don't have to and it frees up a perk slot which is also extremely useful.

I am generally of the belief basement isn't all that dangerous so I don't get the hand wringing about that pert of it.

The basement is a double edge sword.

While the killer generally won't check basement without a good reason, getting caught in the basement injured is a free hook and basement hooks can be difficult for a survivor team to deal with especially against certain killers.

good points too, but i think it works on the stairs no? i couldn´t play the ptb

It does work on the stairs unless that got changed from the ptb. But you would be easier to spot by a patrolling killer.

  • Unlike CoH, it requires each survivor to run the perk to benefit.

Plus being in the basement is risky if you get caught injured by the killer.

  • I fully expect to see this perk get revamped in the future. BHVR for better or worse is being extremely overly cautious with this perk.

  • You get the popup to disarm trap if you aren't running. So take advantage of that when walking in areas traps are easily hidden.

  • I don't like it when I use a BPS and survivors just get gens done without getting hooked. I think survivors should lose points for completing gens without being hooked first.

This isn't a serious suggestion. Just to highlight how dumb it would be to make the killer lose points, because they went after the same survivor.

  • Were you under the effect of the blindness condition?

  • There's no contradictions. If a survivor is dead at 5 gens, the survivors didn't do gens nor did they protect their teammates. It is purely the fault of the survivors if they get tunneled out with 5 gens left.

That's totally fine as well, play how you want, you paid for the game after all and it's not your job to make everyone happy.

This problem, in my eyes at least, is less about balance or optimization or efficiency and way more about actual enjoyment of the game. It's not fun to be a survivor in a game where someone gets tunneled out early. It's bland, boring, and un-interactive.

This game does not have a ranked mode or competitive scene, so it should be designed in a way that optimizes enjoyment. I don't really see an argument for tunneling to be the most efficient strategy and also requiring extremely little effort on the killers side, while requiring a coordinated effort to prevent it from survivors that are more than likely not communicating.

There's a reason that tunneling is the number one complaint in this game, it's just not enjoyable at all for the 4 players on survivor. You hold M1 on a gen and hope that the guy getting tunneled gives you enough time to hold M1 for 4 minutes, or take hits and more than likely not make a difference anyways. It's just a bland experience all around the board.

Survivors pulling of sabo saves and flashlight saves isn't necessarily fun to play against either, but it's still part of the game and I'm not going to start calling survivors unskilled or malicious for doing so.

Sometimes you just get bad games where you get killed first. It's not a big deal.

  • @Nebula said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3668991#Comment_3668991

I don’t tunnel and often only bring one maybe two regression perks when playing killer and I have no problem winning the majority of my games.

I play to spread hooks because I think that playstyle is when this game is actually enjoyable for everyone involved.

It’s not on the survivors for failing to stop a tunnel, if the killer is actually hard tunneling, doing gens or taking hits will do absolutely nothing more than buying maybe another 20-40 seconds for that survivor and that survivor only. When the down and kill inevitably happens, the rest of the team is now screwed as they’re all injured and most resources are more than likely gone.

This isn’t a survivor problem, it’s a game design and mentality problem.

If you want to play for hooks, play for hooks. This doesn't change that a killer who wants to play for kills is allowed to focus out a single survivor at a time. Survivors in response need to make tunneling out a single survivor not worth it by getting gens done and if possible add more time to the chase by running interference.

You are right there's a mentality problem, but it's not what you are likely thinking. Too many people take being eliminated first as a personal attack and act likes a killer player doing their objective is the worst crime you could commit in a game.

  • @Nebula said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3668866#Comment_3668866

I want to play in these games where everyone is popping 3 gens by the end of the first chase. This just so rarely happens in my games on either side.

Also, how does this even remotely solve the problem of someone being hard tunneled from the start of the game? Everyone else just plays M1 simulator and gets out? Fun experience for everyone involved...

Because the issue isn't someone being tunneled. It's an issue of skill difference.

A killer doesn't decide how many gens survivors get done, they can only try to build enough pressure so that survivors have to give up working on gens to do something else. And at the start of the game, this isn't an easy task because maps are full of resources and all 4 survivors are alive.

If a killer is able to get a hook, wait for an unhook, proceed to tunnel that survivor without interference, get their 2nd hook, wait for the unhook, and proceed to tunnel that survivor without interference so they finally die on their 3rd hook without a single gen getting done, then the survivor team failed to either protect their teammate or use the lack of killer pressure to get gens done.

If they’re taking hits or denying a hook which will only be possible with Santos and hits how are gens getting done which was your solution to tunneling early game… your solutions are just contradicting themselves now

    There's no contradictions.

There are 3 other survivors in the trial while the first survivor is being chased and the first chase the killer takes isn't "tunneling".

If the 3 survivors can't get gens done before the end of the first chase and they are unable to help the survivor from being tunneled after being rescued, then the survivor team failed.

  • @menacing_goose said:

There are many other factors to getting downs you don’t expect a ghost face with lethal to get a down as fast as someone like blight nurse or spirit with lethal buddy. Let’s reverse the roles and say someone like trapper gets gen rushed by a team with with toolboxes and gen rushing perks and our solution for him was to just get better and get quicker downs you get absolutely nowhere trying to fault him for something out of his control. Survivors can’t choose whether or not they’re tunneled and getting tunneled out of a match early isn’t fun end of discussion

Survivors also have 3 other people who can take hits or even deny hooks.

If a survivor got tunneled out at 5 gens, the team of survivors messed up.

  • @menacing_goose said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3668866#Comment_3668866

If the chases don’t last long it’s not possible buddy there are strong killers who can tunnel as well and get quick and easy downs

If survivors are going down quickly then the killer player is simply playing better then the team. It's not a problem that the better skilled player wins.

  • The solution is survivors do gens while someone is being chased. Someone being tunneled out at 5 gens is the fault of the survivors, because it's already possible for 2-3 gens to be completed by the end of the first chase.

I haven't confirmed it properly myself, but it seems that when a player with a winning streak as Sadako connected to the Asian server and played, the gate opened after just the third game.

When I heard that, I thought it was quite possible. This means that there is little awareness of the completion of generators among international survivors, and simply by overcoming this, it will be easy to keep the killer away.

Also the video is 2 months old and Sadako was most recently changed just 2 months ago. This is likely a winstreak on her previous iteration.

But the game isn't being balanced over a handful of people who put the hours and practice into the game to secure such high winstreaks. If you see this winstreak and your first thought is that we should now nerf killers, you simply just hate people having more skill then you.

  • I guess if you choose to ignore everything positive for survivors over the last two years it would seem like they get nothing.

  • While it's possible the people claiming to be high mmr are facing high mmr opponents, there's no way to verify such claims. People only say it, because they think saying they are "high mmr" will make their opinion have more weight.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I don’t understand the replies to this post

The main reason is that most people likely didn't read the post and just reacted to the title.

But I also think there's a group of people who don't ever want to recognize issues killers have to deal with as there's always a push back whenever anyone suggests any sort of QoL change for killers.

So explain if it is a team game how if I die on hook and 3 people get out my mmr goes down. Also just because people don't play the way you want to does not make them immature. They could say the same about you and say you need to learn to have fun and stop being so uptight.

while you do lose MMR for dying, you do gain mmr for the 3 survivors who escaped.

The final Developer Update of the year is here. In this series of posts, we discuss the biggest upcoming changes and provide updates on ongoing processes. This time, we’ll cover the various features and improvements coming with next month’s 6.4.0 Update. Bots in Custom Matches Kicking things off, we have a much-anticipated…

    Team Based Ratings

With escapes being the win condition for Survivors, dying heroically to save your team can feel a little anti-climactic. We’re introducing Team Based Ratings to remedy this. Your rating will adjust based on not only your own performance, but the team’s performance as well. Sacrificing yourself to save the team won’t be nearly as punishing.

  • Enjoy your long queues

  • 3 Gen defense recently got nerfed.

There's no real benefit to spreading out hooks.

The community is obsessed with trying to "balance" DBD that it just results in people being very comp minded and focusing on how to best optimize wins.

This one is my opinion, but I see survivors hate on killers for practically everything regardless of how the killer played. Makes trying to play nice not very rewarding so you might as well just play to win.

  • Remove the ability to instant die on 2nd stage for starters

  • If they were actually facecamping and survivors weren't hanging around the hook, then they would have had the option to unhook themselves. L

You literally don't know what the word balanced is if you think 60/40 is more balanced than 50/50.

60% kill rate isn't the same as 60% win rate. 2/5 outcomes are a lost. 1/5 outcomes is a tie. And 2/5 outcomes is a win.

If you want a 50% win rate then you need a higher kill rate to offset the fact that only 40% of outcomes are a win.

  • Bc survivors only like killers they can bully. Now that billy is actually a threat, they won't like him as much.

  • The killer has to physically hook the survivor and hooking a survivor in an area where you generate a lot of pressure if part of the skill of playing killer.

Making it so hooks just teleport bc the killer is generating pressure is punishing killers for being smart. The only reason PH cages get away with that is bc it's much quicker to cage a survivor, it bypasses things that trigger on unhook, and ph could just body block the cage if they didn't teleport

  • Even if you removed the 30 second cooldown, Eruption still counts as 2 triggers for the anti-3 gen system. So as long as that is the case, Eruption is going to hurt you more than it helps.

  • Xenomorph literally spawns you a way to remove his power.

  • @H2H said:

I don’t necessarily think killer is bad balance-wise, but it’s miserable fun-wise. Too many killers with bad, clunky powers that feel awful to use, too many gigantic maps full of clutter and god windows and dozens of safe pallets, too many perks with little-to-no synergy or reward, too many basekit systems that put guardrails all over killer gameplay.

It’s just not that fun to play killer. I don’t even feel like I’m playing against the survivors a lot of the time; I’m playing against BHVR, and the survivors are there too.

Anymore I play maybe 1 or 2 killer games a week, and the rest of the time it’s solo queue survivor. The number of times I pick “Play killer,” look at the killer roster, and then just back out to pick “Play survivor” lately is depressing.

Don't forget that BHVR has been adding invisible walls everywhere, because they don't like it when people find ways to get on top of objects which only hurts ranged killers ability to snipe.

  • The game is over at that point so it's fine for the last survivor in trial to just die on hook.

If you have deliverance active and haven't been hooked, you need to play aggressively.

  • @GeneralV said:

Nope, probably not. It doesn't really help to know if your teammates are doing a gen or totem if you will go down quickly because the map is one big deadzone.

The extra information is helpful (although they didn't have to overhaul the entire HUD for it), but it isn't everything. If going back in time was possible in this game, we could actually have a way better Solo Queue experience, simply because survivors had more resources to work with.

It doesn't even have to be 2016 levels of survivor's strength. We can find a sweet spot.

Tbh, it's not really an issue of survivor strength. Between mmr matchmaking being lax and survivors often giving up over any little inconvenience, it's hard to get good solo matches where the skill difference is min and survivors actually try.

The recent data for high mmr 4 man swf showed they have an escape of 48% and ~9% difference of high mmr solos.

  • I really love how anytime a killer QoL suggestion is made, it's always "just bring x perk" or "it would be too complicated" as if that has stopped BHVR from adding QoL stuff for survivors.

It did need a change, it's not fun to go up against watch any content creator who plays often its usually complained about even still and it was easily exploitable with some killer powers. Its the one perk which cuts the most time off of chase, you will see less of it when survivors can actually heal again with the fracture changes.

DBD currently suffers from snowballing on both sides, the last thing it needs is anything to catalyze that matter.

You don't play both sides, I never agree with your takes lol

STBFL was never a problem and it working well with some killer powers was fine. Removing perk synergy from powers makes DBD dull, because instead of having fun interactions to play instead, there's no reason to not just play the best killer with the best perks.

Also for the record, I tend to play more survivor than killer.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

I know so many people who disagree, it did need a change it's been abused on killers who can use their power to curb the downside. It's a common tunneler perk atm, You all will be complaining when Decisive comes back because that's the main perk which countered it in the first place.

it's still useful, it's still strong. Just adapt and stop wanting to cheese the perk.

It honestly didn't need any change.

The complaints about tunneling are not unique to STBFL and face camping was already fixed with the anti-facecamping.

The perk was fine and it got killed for no reason other than survivors don't like the killers having decent chase perks.
