You are complaining that a killer running two perks that don't really do anything before all gens are done combo together in the end game.

Yeah that’s very true! It just feels broken that once the Killer gets two kills then that’s pretty much the match. Not always, but often.
It's a 1v4 asymm game. Of course the killer is going to be stronger when they start picking up kills. If survivors could easily 1v1 the killer there would be a huge problem.
-
The problem is just this punishes the killer for completely their objective.
Survivors wouldn't like it if every gen they got done slowed down their action speed.
-
Just say you want the game to die.
I don't know how anyone expects a general killer playerbase will willingly play a game that heavily restricts what they can do. Just because rules and restrictions work well in a tournament setting, doesn't mean it translates well to a casual audience. Tournaments are a much smaller pool of the playerbase.
-
While DBD may not have as many players as it did at its peak, it's not really dying. The last 30 days on steamcharts show an increase (likely due to people checking out the event).
DBD has its up and downs over the year, people come check out new content and play other games afterwards.

Wow. People really don't want it. Killers can have bloodlust, multiple vault speed perks and vault blocking. But the moment survivors get more than 1 vault perk, it's the end of the world as we know it.
Almost like the killer is at a numbers disadvantage.

Did you seriously call that a tactic? Like in strategy?
People really need to stop normalising camping and tunneling.
Camping and Tunneling are in fact strategies. The killer's objective to kill survivors and tunneling and camping are ways to secure an early kill to tip the game into your favor.
-
Probably the same reason freddy got pushed back. Other higher priorities happened.

Have they? It felt like when Xeno came out, people were still running lots of other perks in their builds as well. Typically, when I've looked at builds in the past, they've been one or two slowdown perks, with some other chase or info perks mixed in. I said in my post I might be behind everyone else, though.
Info perks are nice but since the best tactic is to force a kill as early as possible you don't really need info if you are patrolling around a hook.
Chase perks don't really matter on killers with strong anti loop powers.
So you get left with slowdown and slowing gens has always been better than slowing healing.
-
What do you mean now? 4 slowdown perks have been the best build for a while now.
The only thing survivors need to do is gens therefore extending how long it takes for those gens to finish have always been the best build.
-
Why should a system intended to work against facecamping work against other tactics?
-
Well the changes heavily nerfed Eruption and nerfed Surge. There's not really any other good options for regression.
-
Lights Out shows that no matter what queue you play in, people are going to sweat.
A ranked queue won't change the fact that people will still sweat in casual

It's not about "being better suited" for a game mode or being hindered. The Killerpower from legion simply bypasses the mode. Playing against the legion never was fun but at this point you see at leas two people quitting each game as soon as it is revealed they play against legion. I don't blame them. Playing against Legion in lights out mode is less fun than an invisible basement bubba.
A lot of killers are hindered by this mode. That is because it basically is the purpose of it. So if a killer is not suited for a game mode because his power bypasses the rules of the mode it doesn't make sense to let him participate.
I like this game mode because it offers a real challenge. You can't rely on perks or add-ons, you have to master the killer power and navigate in the darkness. Pressing M2 and then running straight for the next hearbeat is just mindnumbing. It avoids the whole concept of lights out.
The counterplay for legion is spreading out. Well you can try to do that but you never know when to start running because you don't know when the killer gets closer. But knowing the distance to legion is crucial for decision making and counterplay.
His power isn't a bypass to the mode as it was clearly intentional by the devs that his power work this way.
Some killers have powers that allow them to gather information about survivor positioning which is fine.
-
With the anti-facecamp feature, there's nothing unfair about camping now. If the killer it too close to the hook, the hooked survivor can unhook themselves after sometime. If the killer isn't too close, survivors have a window to make the save.
-
No killers should be banned from a fun mode. Some killers are better suited for this mode than others. The best killers in this game (Nurse, Blight) are much more hindered due to the lack of vision range.
-
Remove wiggle and every survivor will be hooked in the basement which is a strong area for the killer to defend.
-
Artist is very hard to master and it's not like she's the best killer in the game for it.
Dredge is very map reliant and there's plently of maps where large areas you can't teleport to due to the lack of locker spawns.
-
Why should survivors regardless of their skill level always be able to play to the end of the game? It's a 1v4 and the killer's sole objective is to kill survivors.
I don't get why people are so obsessed with wanting to balance the game around hooks when hooks are just a means to the killers objective. It would be like removing the exit gates and saying the game ends immediately when survivors finish the 5th gen.

This is simply untrue. He has 8 cameras or something and puts them all around the hook so anyone approaching gets gooped then he teleports and you're just screwed.
Survivors have EMPs they can use to disable pods by the hook as well. But he has an anti-camp feature built into his power where marking survivors recently unhooked are 10% speed.
-
It takes a long time for Singularity's bipods to mark someone who was recently unhooked. So it's really not a big issue since you have more than enough time to get away before you get infected.
-
I'm not sure what you really expect.
Killers can't bring tracking or gen defense perks. Killers can't see scratch marks and their vision is heavily restricted. Sound becomes more important so injured survivors become more noticeable targets. There's still no benefit to spreading out hooks equally.
There's no reason to wander around trying to find other survivors.

Right, but you don't make the perk useless to fix camping. First of all camping is fixed by AFC. For tunneling, a BETTER change to the perk would have been to make it so when a non-obsession gets unhooked, they become the obsession. That way you are heavily discouraged from tunneling the person right off the hook.
Well yes, I said at the start the perk never needed a nerf. The AFC system would have tackled the "abuse" case of STBFL. STBFL itself didn't need any changes.

The status icons aren't there because the Hud itself is mostly gone. In-game sounds on the other hand are completely separate. The heartbeat is not just a neat reminder you are in the TR. The heartbeat IS the TR.
There's nothing different about it. They decided the survivors can't hear TRs and Lullabies while still allowing the TR to exist. With the modifier the Heartbeat is not the TR.

I'm not talking just for me. Somebody pointed out that Doctor and Legion are a bit much in this mode and I agree. And in a lesser extent it's true Plague may be too.
It's just a week long mode and Legion and Dcotor aren't exactly top tier killers normally. Let those killers have their time to shine in a limited time game mode.

There's a difference between no HUD showing icons and the status not existing.
You completely missed the point.
Just because you don't perceived the status icons doesn't mean the status isn't there. Same thing with the TR. The TR exists despite your inability to hear it.

Point still stands. It was a good perk on killers that were already struggling. So why are we nerfing it?
I'm pretty sure it got nerfed because people were complaining about how strong it was in a camping scenario plus the usage rate. Should note we got the anti-facecamp mechanic the patch before the STBFL nerf, so really a case of BHVR acting before letting the dust settle, but wouldn't be the first time.
Though STBFL was never the best way to facecamp either. Many killer powers have shorter CDs without needing to build up stacks.

If there are 10 threads saying it’s bad, then it’s not sulking, it’s bad for the majority of players. Glad you like it though.
This isn't necessarily true.
The forum is a much smaller population than the active playerbase and people tend to complain more about things they don't like than they post about things they do like.
DBD could be the most perfectly balanced game and the forum would still be full of complaints, because that's just how people are.

Your entire argument for why Legion's power works is that the TR exists in a state we can't perceive, and your argument that the TR exists... is that Legions power works.
It's how the mode works since killers still project their red stains and survivors aren't given oblivious status.
Survivors still get BT off hook despite no status icon appearing. Killers still get bloodlust despite no status appearing.
The mode is full of "thing exists, but cannot be perceived."

STBFL was a perk that was good on low tier killers. Nurse/blight/spirit don't care and don't use it. Why are we nerfing perks that are core on trapper?
I wouldn't say it was core on Trapper. It was good on him, but you could play without it.
The only killer who I would say it was remotely mandatory on was Deathslinger after they nerfed his ability to quickscope.

It was very much especially in certain killers. Now you can learn again to play those killers correctly without the crutch.
It was not. STBFL only improved M1s and M1 killers are very easy to loop since they have to ran at you.

Yeah... typically that means there's no TR if neither sound nor the visual TR can pick it up.
The modifier just makes it so survivors can't hear the TR or Lullabies. The TR/Lullaby still exists. If survivors were made Oblivious by the modifier then Legion's power wouldn't show anything, but they are not made Oblivious.

Legions power isn't stronger because of the modifiers, Legions power is acting against how it normally acts. Legion NORMALLY would not gain killer instinct without a TR. This is an example of a killer power that was changed to allow it to function whereas it wouldn't otherwise.
The killer's TR and Lullabies are not 0 in the game mode. Survivors just can't hear them.

His power is the dream world, and it didn't mesh properly. You could say the same thing about Legion who is only suppose to see killer instinct from ppl in his TR, or Doc for the same reason.
Legion's power being stronger due to the modifiers is not the same thing as Freddy's Dream World not mixing well with a visual effect.
It's a mode you don't have to play that lasts for a week. We don't need to disable more killers that work just fine with the modifier.

Again, it's not about that...
it's about tunneling at 5 gens right away.
The only way a killer can tunnel at 5 gens is if the other 3 survivors don't get a gen before the first hook. Which is a skill issue on the survivor's part.

Tell that to Freddy, lol
Freddy isn't disabled for a balanced reason. The devs said they couldn't get his Dream World effect to work nicely with Lights Out effect.

I didn't think about Plague. It may be another killer to disable for that mode.
There's no reason to disable any killer for a week long mode that isn't meant to be balanced. If you don't enjoy the mode, don't play it. No one is forcing people to play the mode.
-
It was changed to lose stacks on power hits. Nothing about needing to do damage. Honestly STBFL never needed a nerf, but now the perk is just gutted.
-
Pips don't mean anything. You can't degrade and the only thing having a higher grade is more bloodpoints on the 13th.
Not sure why pipping needs to be disabled for these game modes.
-
If people weren't so focused on coming up for reasons why their opponent who beat them is actually bad at the game, then maybe people would put the effort to improve their own gameplay.
-
Survivors shouldn't see auras of slugged and hooked survivors then

I'm noticing killers with some kind of tracking ability work really well for this. All of a sudden Legion is S tier and Nurse sucks, lol. It makes sense that ppl are chasing injured survivors simply because they are easier to find. 90% of tracking comes down to sounds on this gamemode.
Even though Legion is strong for the mode, he's still legion and is still an M1 killer for downs.
It's not the full map pool, it's like 3 or 4 maps selected specifically for the mode and all maps are still quite big so Frenzy TR won't cover most of it. Legion also doesn't have access to his duration and speed addons for frenzy which makes quite a difference. Feral Frenzy itself is still not lethal without 5 hits which can be avoided by survivors spreading out a bit.
Frankly, without having some gen control, gens will still pop. I haven't really encountered a game where no gens were finished simply because you still have to locate a survivor without any help.

@Visi said:

A temporary game mode that will, presumably, return periodically over time. Legion is broken in it. Infinite information, with zero ability to counterplay from the survivors. No TR, but Legion still gets to see killer instinct? How tf is that fair? Legion should either have the killer instinct removed or be disabled entirely.
The counterplay to Legion is still the same in Light's Out. Spread out. Lights Out is only on a few maps and those maps are still quite large so Legion's KI isn't going to cover the map. Plus if he's in Feral Frenzy he can't down you without cancelling which gives you some time to make a tile.
Also Legion lacks 2 important addons to increase the speed and duration of his Feral Frenzy which decreases the range he frenzy in.
-
@LordGlint said:
I feel like lights out really says NOTHING about the base game's problems. If this was JUST a game mode where the only thing missing is perks, you'd have a point. It's not though... The fact that it's hard to find anyone unless you are super close to then could have something to do with the fact that grunting survivors are getting chased more. Tracking has been reduced to mostly sound. Base game has scratch marks, or just looking for crows to fly in the distance. Lights out...doesnt.
Also sometimes the survivor just runs into you, because both sides can't see very well and survivors don't get TR sounds.
-
@Dinoraptus said:
I think they are showing as disabled if you are leveling while queued in the Lights Out game mode specifically.
I think BHVR disabled them in that gamemode so you couldn't get them in chests. But in the regular game they are enabled.
I think you are correct. I didn't think about that.
-
It's certainly confusing why they removed most of the HUD elements when the HUD update gave survivors tools to lower the difference between solo and swf.
However, people insulting you for playing the game is not the fault of you or the lack of HUD information.
