  • You should be aware the killer has Friends til the End by the time all gens are done and since it triggers on hook, you can just hide in a locker when the killer picks up a survivor.

Rancor + No Way Out is a build focus on the end game, you should have no difficulties reaching it to the end game as the 3rd perk listed is Friends til the End so very little to defend gens. Unless the killer has a 4th perk to find survivors, you should just be able to hide out against No Way Out considering most of the survivor should be alive against a build with no gen defense.

Basically once the gens are done and you know you are the Rancor target or that you could be made the Rancor target, you should be focused on hiding since gens are already done. If you are failing to use lockers to hide screams/auras and getting caught, then you messed up.

The other fact is you're complaining about a meme build. No killer is running Rancor plus Obsession swapping perks for any other reason than messing around. Would you really rather killers have no fun options and just focus on tunneling/camping every game all the time?

  • EAC already put out a statement.

    https://twitter.com/TeddyEAC/status/1769725032047972566

Apex is built off of source and source has had RCE issues in the past.

  • If 4 gens are already done and the killer is spending their time around the hook, there's no reason the remaining survivors can't rush the final gen and get out.

  • So I tried to get Undone to work. Doctor, Distressing, Coulphobia, Merciless Storm on Midwich. Even being able to cover the map with the TR to try to force skillcheck saves getting to 30 stacks just isn't going to happen.

On the survivor side of things, on console, if a hallucination is near a pallet, even if I don't have the hallucination in view it seems to prioritize getting rid of the hallucination than drop/vault - which in chase is a death sentence.

Twice today I've had it where I was healthy and in chase, tried to drop a pallet and got sucked into the hallucination action instead, which allowed the unknown to hit me and also interrupt the action automatically giving me the blob - which is easy to down with because he'd be able to use his purple blobby attack immediately. I had to get off early after that happened 2 games in a row 😅

This is an issue with controller mapping. On keyboard/mouse the buttons to throw pallets and dispel are different.

Weaving spiders: it’s a unique perk nonetheless but the amount of time it takes and the fact you become broken makes the BNP effect not really worth it especially when you can’t leave it or else you have to restart it unlike a generator. A suggestion buff to this perk is to reduce the time it takes to complete the ritual to 90 seconds from 120 OR increase the gen progress back to 15%

Strength in shadows: it’s fine, it’s a self healing perk and that requires you to be in the basement. It’s not weak at all but it’s situationally strong, I say it’s good as is

Wicked: a cool perk, but I would argue it’s too situational and has the same issues as deliverance. I think the fact it’s situational is okay but I personally think for how situational it is it’s kind of lacking. A suggestion buff to this perk is to allow you to unhook yourself in both hook phases while in the basement

You have to think of Wicked like Soul Guard. You run Soul Guard for the endurance on pick up not the unbreakable effect.

Wicked is the same way, you run Wicked for the 20 second aura reveal of the killer off hook and if you get hooked in the basement on 1st hook, you get an extra bonus.

20 second is such a long time to be able to watch the killer.

I hate the implication that using cosmetics is automatically evidence towards some sort of hatred.

Add onto that that I, and I assume many other players, haven't once looked at a survivor and noticed their charms (unless they're the ones that are all lit up and you see them when they're trying to hide) and I think the "I get tunneled for my charms" holds a lot less water than I think people think it does.

BHVR when they removed the bubba masks basically said that cosmetics are the source of hate. So people are only going to be looking for cosmetics that they find offensive and request them to be removed because BHVR told the community they will remove "problematic" cosmetics.

Even before the Unknown, I've seen posts bringing up some cosmetic and saying how it references something offensive.

  • If the gens are done then the killer is much less likely to roam far from the hook to go chase after the information given by this perk. And survivors can just open the exit gate and leave.

This perk hardly needs to be disabled in end game.

  • For all the people saying that killers shouldn't complain about Adrenaline, because it's a reward for completing the objective.

Pop and Pain Res have both received nerfs despite being perks that rewarded the killer for completing their objective. And I still see people complain about those perks on the forums.

So ultimately it doesn't matter if the perk rewards the player for playing well, it can still be nerfed and still be complained about.

  • First it only takes 1.5 seconds to reveal ghostface compared to the 10s it takes to remove weakened.

Second Ghostface has the ability to crouch and lean to stalk to make it harder to stalk him

Third you need to be within range and have 30% of ghostface's body in the center of your screen.

As for why these requirement exists, it's because Ghostface sole power his is shroud. So if survivors could easily remove it, Ghostface would just be pointless to play as.

Compared to Unknown who also has the ability to teleport and Weakened results in his power being capable of damaging you which can hit through walls and is AoE, it's a bit more important survivors have an easier time removing it since it takes 10 seconds.

    It's not about the specifics.

The big main takeaway from this topic is what I stated. Invocation: Weaving Spiders is the new No Mither and other surviors are more inclined to grief you if you have it.

I'll add it to my original post to make it clear.

That doesn't matter. If you are being griefed report them. Removing useful information to help team play in soloq is a bad way to deal with griefers.

  • Kill rate does not equal win rate. 60% kill rate is still less than 3 survivors on average and 3 kills is what is defined as a win.

Adrenaline has been complained about on and off for a while now and it's always been a perk that feels awful to face against so it getting a nerfed is pretty understandable.

  • @Nos37 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3675958#Comment_3675958

That's not the issue. (Though, I have already suggested a perk that would prevent aura-based griefing without neutering Bond, Kindred, etc.) The killer cannot read the survivors aura at all, at the cost of survivors being unable to read the user's aura either.

The problem is that Invocation: Weaving Spiders is the new No Mither (other surviors are more inclined to grief you if you have it).

Report the griefers. People griefing you for experimenting with a new perk is not a valid reason to remove useful information the perk provides especially when it's likely the perk will see tweaks in the future since BHVR is being extra cautious with the values of it.

  • Are we going to remove perks like Bond and Kindred too? Since griefers could use it to bring the killer to you.

Ultimate Weapon and Lethal Pursuer are for killers who don't/can't use their eyes to find survivors.

The killer could have either perk, so I need to waste TWO perk slots to counter lazy killers getting easy info.

I wouldn't have to dodge the killer's eyes if they didn't come my direction because of ANOTHER survivor spawning next to me.

You're bringing perks to hide from the killer. They can't hold your hand in every situation, you need to know how to hide out of sight from the killer as well. Real laziness is refusing to adapt to the situation given to you.

Hysteria is a pretty terrible perk. Just because it only affects injured survivors doesn't mean it should only be limited to activating only when a Survivor is injured.

Besides, you could just make it not go on cooldown when there are no injured Survivors (only dying or healthy), or, better yet, ditch the cooldown altogether as well.

Considering oppression has the issue of triggering when it effects 0 gens, I don't have high hopes of making hysteria not just trigger regardless if it gives you any value.

Besides there are other ways the perk could be buffed besides changing the triggering condition. 30 seconds of obliviousness is pretty much nothing as it is.

Adam screamed next to me at the start of the match. That means the killer is 32m away. We did not spawn with any good cover around. I tried to crouch walk away. The killer found me, not Adam.

My perk successfully countered Ultimate Weapon, but the game just keeps spawning me next to other survivors at the start of the trial and rendering my perks useless.

I'm not asking for insane buffs or reworks. Just some simple quality of life changes.

If I had access to the Shroud of Separation as a survivor, I WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SITUATION MYSELF...

Calm Spirit and Distortion do not counter the killer having eyes.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

Damn. Both Hysteria and this perk should apply on the dying state as well. Either perk wouldn't be amazing even if it activated when a Survivor was put into the dying state.

I just hope they change it, otherwise I can see Unbound being added to the pile of unused perks waiting to be reworked like Hysteria is at the moment.

I think Hysteria is fine the way it is, because the Oblivious status effect is only applied to injured survivors. So it wouldn't make much sense for the perk to trigger knocking a survivor into dying state and no survivors are in injured state.

  • @Nos37 said:

Killer instinct CANNOT be countered by survivor perks. It either needs a counter or needs to be toned down on Legion.

The entire point of killer instinct is that it's not meant to be countered. Killer Instinct is also solely tied to killer powers and addons.

I don't think it's as easy for the unknown. If they remove the cosmetics because they look like females then will all of unknown's cosmetics have to look like a male? But, it would have no lore reason to do that. It would limit cosmetic potential as well of course and bhvr would lose money by doing this.

I personally think they should just make it so the female outfits are linked that way you can't mix them with the male items.

The devs made a statement that things in the game that are being used for tools to spread hate are to be removed. They set their own precedent and now must live up to the precedent they set.

    image.png

For the record, I'm not even pro-removal. I was against removing the leatherface cosmetics, because giving hateful people the power to get cosmetics removed is not how you deal with hateful people.

  • I haven't seen a single Ultimate Weapon over the past couple of days.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

I really hope we don't see something like "ok so because few bad actors now we will link/remove/rework skins for Unknown" that would be pretty bad. Would be like punishing all players because of small % of bad actors doing this toxic stuff.

Okay so you don't want new players to the game is what your saying? Because if the tunneling was gone they would have a chance to learn the game.

New players who play with other new players will learn the game just fine. It's when you pair up with your less than 10 hour friends getting a killer with over 1000 hours then wondering why your 10 hour friends are not enjoying the game.

Pretty much any online pvp game, you need to be playing against people of your own skill level. Random people you match with are not going to go easy, because you are trying to introduce your friends to a game. If you want to play with them, find a way to do customs until they get better.

  • @Hexling said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3675080#Comment_3675080

Well if I don't bring them in the game with me they wont play at all. So my point being is fix tunneling and more people will play the game.

The issue is you are expecting new players to enjoy playing way above their skill level. "Fixing" tunneling wouldn't solve the fundamental issue that people need to learn to play against other players close to their skill level. Throwing them into the fire doesn't help them.

  • @Hexling said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3675070#Comment_3675070

Well they're not gonna play if they aren't playing with a friend. So the best way to fix that problem is to fix tunneling and make the game accessible for as many people as possible. Saying to to play with friends is a really bad business design for a multiplayer game. I hate playing fps games but the only way I play is with friends.

You're bringing new players against experienced killers and then wondering why they aren't enjoying the game as much.

  • @Hexling said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3674992#Comment_3674992

Yea but that means you have to get better none of my friends even want to try to get better because they only get to play for like 2 min because they get tunneled out and they have to wait 15 min to play again because they have less then 2 hours on the game.

If your queueing up with literal new players you are harming their experience, because you are forcing them to get matched with killers above their skill level.

  • You want to dispel Hallucinations, don't stick too close to walls since his UVX can hit you through many of them if you are, look at the killer (the killer has to be on your screen, but you can be out of LoS) to remove Weakened.

  • @Zraith said:

I would go so far as you don't know either. You can only prolong a chase against a killer that you can easily survive anyway (ie baby killers). With the recent changes and map updates, you cannot escape a competent killer indefinitely, if they want to tunnel you out of the game, for the majority of survivor players especially in soloQ means they will tunnel you out of the game.

Yes in an ideal world you can use it to buy time. But BHVR made sure it is no longer the case.

I never said anything about being chased indefinitely. You don't need to run the killer for 5 full gens. You just need to buy enough time that your allies can make significant progress.

If the killer outplays you at tiles and gets you down quickly, they simply played better. The game is not nearly as dire as you guys like to make it out to be.

  • @SrNinguem said:

I mean camping and tunneling is toxic because it gives no chances for the survivor, yea ik dbd is a game for killers but still survivors need to have a chance for escape, so when there is 5 gens and the killer tun someone so the game stay with 3 survivors and 4 gens there is no chances for escape so for me the killer was being toxic.

About the video u can see how freddy make a moon walk and dont get stunned by the pallet and in the whole game he was revealing the aura of everyone, i was healing my self in the basement and my friend only watch he walks for the basement like if he know i was there and when the match is over he didnt even have nurses call or something but he still come for me...

Btw if you are saying this is not toxic, you'r probably doing the same thing as this:

    https://youtu.be/Ch-W2nUZHsE

Tunneling can be countered by making chases take too long to be worth it.

Camping can be countered by hook trading close to the end of the current hook stage.

They aren't infallible strategies, but too many survivors don't know how to properly deal with them.

  • You really should play the killer before you start acting like he's impossible to play against.

It's an arching projectile that requires two consecutive hits to do damage. Yes it has a small aoe area and can hit through walls but if it didn't he would just be a worse huntress/Deathslinger.

As for teleportation, hallucinations appear where the unknown is after it passively charges up. You can somewhat control where they spawn by using your power but for the most part you have no control over it.

He's been out for 2 days and people will need time to figure out how to play against him.

  • @Kmiccc said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3673436#Comment_3673436

It's hilarious how these killers are made, so he teleports, has a range ability that also does damage while also being AoE ability and bouncing from walls. Literally no fun playing against this killer, if only that bs wasn't AoE and a bit more skillbased so you have to actually hit someone it wouldn't be that horrible LOL

Have you played the Unknown, because even though his power is AoE it does take practice to actually land them consistently (AKA skill).

  • Even though the survivor is dead on hook, the game doesn't considered them dead until the animation is finished.

Although with the anti-facecamping mechanic some killer powers that turn off around hook aren't really needed imo. I think lockers being blocked for dredge is fine, but Artist not being able to place birds really isn't needed.

  • If we removed every skin over the possibility of someone using it offensively, we'll have no skins.

  • I don't see why this is a bug. It has a little AoE radius upon impact and actually getting hits through walls isn't that easy because the radius is small enough that you need to hit the area around to wall just right so it actually pierces. To reliably land hits through walls is a skill.

  • @Xyvielia said:

Devs can prevent certain slowdown perks from staking, they just haven’t. Why? Well, it’s probably because they feel it’s all in a good place, rn.

Regardless, certain builds absolutely do feel abusive when used by top tier players, and overly frustrating to face match after match.

The devs don't seem to want to take away synergy of running perks together. Which is fine but they always end up just gutting the perks so they are only useful in that synergy.

Then the devs will remove perk synergy with powers no problem which imo only further cements every killer using the same handful of perks.

  • Left For Dead.

I have the achievement but I got really lucky with a gen in front of the exit gate, the killer hooking the survivor on the opposite side of the map and not having mobility back before killers could close the hatch.

With the fact that closing the hatch completed ask gens, I think the achievement should just be As the last survivor, open the exit gate and escape through it.

Hmm. you seem to have not read my post. I said with currently 40-45% of the player base being killer mains, a few could definitely leave and it would be no problem, since only 20% of the playerbase needs to be killer, at any given point. I never advocated for zero killer-mains... You seem to be falling into the "I'm a killer and without me the game wouldn't exist" ego trap. Keep an eye out for that! It's not healthy for the game or the community. :)

You commented on my post where I said that you need killers to be able to play the game.

I get you don't care about the killer experience and you just want easy escapes, but the fact is having those means you'll struggle to get games bc who will want to play killer in that state.

Not to mention the devs do give survivors stuff, it's not like killers are the only one getting stuff. Mangled literally just got nerfed and facecamping was recently killed as a playstyle.

Also for the record despite a new chapter released with a new killer today, and I personally saw a 100% bonus for killer the entire night. So people are still playing survivor in high enough numbers that there wasn't even enough killer players to even the queue times. You don't need special treatment because you lost some games.

  • @LordGlint said:

I feel comparing him to Huntress is abit much. Unlike Huntress, he has to work with having both a cooldown on his ability and hit ppl with it multiple times to do dmg.

As for his teleport... keep in mind that he not only doesn't have control of the teleport locations, they can also be shut down by the survivors. This makes it plenty fair to have imo.

You have psuedo control. Unknown won't place hallucinations while holding his power so if you pay attention you can set up the hallucinations.

There's certainly better teleport abilities than it, but it's not like you are completely powerless to where they spawn.

  • @FunkadelicPeach said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3673964#Comment_3673964

Not really. Killer players think they are super important but in reality they aren't (again, back to that ego/power complex thing. It's real!). They only need to make up 20% of the player base, and I think right now it's closer to 40-45% if the stats I read were correct (which they very well may not be. I'll admit). If some healthy changes to the game make some people pick up survivor instead of killer, that would be healthy for the game. Decreasing queue times and helping SBMM be more accurate.

I would like to see you play a game of dbd with no one playing killer.

  • Doesn't matter how many survivor players there are, you guys still need someone to play killer if you want to play the game.

Since the killer is facing 4 individual characters, they need to be slightly stronger. There was a time not so long ago when survivors had long queue times bc the game heavily favored them.

  • After playing some games with Unknown I feel like we need to wait a few more weeks to really gather his true strength.

As for his perks, the only decent one is Unforeseen and it's more a sidegrade option to Trail of Torment.

Unbound lasting only 30 seconds when most of the time you hit a survivor and they run away from the tile doesn't really make it that helpful to catching a survivor at a strong window.

Undone is okay, I guess. It's going to be more effective against newer survivors who can struggle to hit skillchecks. I guess it could be decent on Doctor with an anti-skillcheck build.

It literally does if you say it’s essential for killers to run the meta build to be able to manage in their match but ok and you say not every match is against optimal swfs but many killers arguments go out to swfs and how they manage in matches so if it’s generally mostly solo and duos with maybe trios in the mix why are there always complaints as if every match is a swf

You missed the point. Killers run meta for when they face the strongest teams, because that's where those perks really shine. Killers can't just pick to face lower skilled opponents so they can play "chill".

I'm having some fun with him, but not as much as I thought I would. Not sure about anybody else but it really feels like his main power is his teleportation and not his ranged attack which feels really...bad.

After a few games, I've gotten better at getting injures/downs with his power. It is tricky and it is something you would have to spend quite a bit of time to master.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

People are allowed to have opinions that differ from yours. Suggesting that many players quit the game isn't a very healthy suggestion either.

There's plenty of people who probably should take a break who really need to hear it. I don't nessecarily agree fully with everything OP said. However some people go into matches just to quit as so many things in the game currently frustrate them and those people could really use a break away from the game.

  • @menacing_goose said:

You say they’re essential but there are quite literally people who pull off 4ks WITHOUT ANY REGRESSION let alone the regression we’re talking about so how is it not essential for them let me know that’s like saying survivor meta was essential to escape matches especially now considering killer current meta along with tunneling

4King without pain res does not say what you think it does. Most of the games you play as killer aren't against optimal 4 mans swf. Generally it's solos and duos with maybe a trio in the mix. It's not too difficult to stomp on solos when their skill levels may vastly different. It just doesn't make sense to build for teams you can already crush, you might as well bring your best in case you get a strong team.

  • @SOULWARRIOR71K said:

It was most likely nerfed because in a lot of cases sloppy is just used to make tunneling even easier (which is still the case because it does not take 90 seconds to find the person who was unhooked). Also most people don’t necessarily choose to stay injured for 90 seconds so you will get the same value from mangled and you still can interrupt the heal for hemorrhage value.

If you're being tunneled off hook, then having mangled or not doesn't really matter.

  • @Mercês said:

I believe I'm not biased. I just don't understand why people say that survivors are not entitled to a free health state, but killer is entitled to a free hook state (by proxycamping).

Facecamping is the same thing as proxycamping. I don't know why we are seeing differently. The system is ineffective.

Facecamping and Proxy Camping are not the same thing. Proxy camping gives room for survivors to get trades and if trades are timed well can really punish a killer who is only pressuring the hook and not the gens.

Proxy camping also isn't a guaranteed health state either, but way too many survivors let it be far more effective by not doing anything. In your own image, there's a survivor sitting around doing nothing. Sadako doesn't innately have an instant down ability so there's no reason he couldn't rush in for a trade. But instead he's just standing around waiting for Sadako to leave when it's clear she won't.

The system isn't ineffective. It's just doesn't do what you think it's suppose to do.

  • Camping wasn't intended on being impossible to do with the system. It solely exists to prevent the killer from standing in front of the hook in an attempt to prevent any save from occurring. Now killers need to back away and give room for survivors to at least hook trade.

Unhooks can never be risk free as it would eliminate the killers ability to build pressure with hooks.
