Why I do see Freddy as a pain in the ass sometimes, and admittedly haven't played him myself in almost a year, due to easy mechanics and a high rate of DCs, I am not for Nerfing everything in the game. It seems all the recent threads are nerf this and nerf that. I also don't think having every single killer being equally powerful is feasible, with all of them having different powers.
So in short, I am anti nerf and believe we should have a few killers that are strong.
-
So , a question. Does lucky break timer pause when you heal back up?
So you can use it when injured again?
-
Yea, that was my understanding. I always try to crouch around him for saves. I think a lot of folk just try to run over and kick him first.

Difficulty is hard to explain, but as a solo survivor, you're not going to feel the same sense of control as if you was playing killer because survivors are just 1/4th of the force the killer opposes. It's going to be difficult, maybe near impossible to win games if you don't use personal skill in combination with teamwork.
Killer on the other hand, have more control of the match due to their pure strength against a survivor. Depending on the killer and your skill level, you will gain more or less control in the trial. I'm a console Nurse main, which means other than keys, I own the survivors and can make them cook me dinner if I so please, or else they'll have a 2-5 minute game. :P
Weaker killers, even with decent skill, won't have the same control as a Nurse or Spirit. Their mechanics limit how far you can go with them, allowing survivors to indirectly become stronger since they don't have a threatening power role to play around.
I certainly agree that optimal survivor play is pretty hard to beat. Especially with one of the weaker killers. I think Solo Q is the hardest mode in the game, except on the rare occasions when you get 3 other teammates that play really well.
-
Yeah, being new to killer and just breaking into purple/high green, you start to run into teams that just have more experience than you do. Why do people choose to BM a player that is clearly less experienced, well that is a discussion in one's psychology.
But, here is another chicken and egg debate. Survivors dislike Tunneling and Camping. But they mistreat a newer killer, who says fk it, I am tunneling every MFer I see......and well we have the current state of the game.
-
Plenty of killers 4k a large percentage of their games. Do you play killer OP? Do you lose often if you do?
But, few people would argue that killer is easier than survivor, so I agree with the sarcasm in a sense. But clearly there are still some very skilled killers that do just fine.
-
Smurfing in this game is rampant. I know, everyone says, "oh, I just haven't played in awhile. "
Then why bring full meta loadouts to face a bunch of noobs?
Of all the things in this game that can happen. Smurfs are my least favorite thing. I just can't respect it. Play how you want, but do it against equal competition. And it happens on both sides.
-
You are completely handicapping yourself.
I have recently done the same thing after being a sweaty ruthless killing machine for a number of years. And your kill rate will go down by an average of at least 1. Maybe more.
But you have to play for yourself and your own win definitions. I say play how YOU would like to verse. Then, you can never really lose.

I don't blame any killer for trying to make sure someone who's basically carrying the match gets eliminated from it but there are better less toxic ways of doing that. Its one thing to patrol the area around them and another to just stand in front of them and hit them on the hook over and over. THAT is a problem and in my opinion is unsportsmanlike. Certain things in this game need to have more things present to discourage it from happening. Camping, tunneling, slugging... it all ruins the game.
I agree it is a bit unsportsmanlike. However, I'm a strong believer in allowing everyone to play how they choose.
And I am much more of a carrot than a stick person. Can't punish people for playing within the rules, but better incentives for not doing these things would be more my style.
I don't think you can compare repeatedly hitting on the hook with camping, tunneling or slugging tho.
-
It's just a game, why take it so seriously. I mean, perhaps it's a bit of BM, but in many ways it's a compliment.
And, if you did indeed make the game hell for the killer, sabos, 2 gen loop, wiggled off, can you blame them for trying to make sure you die? At that point the game was lost, you wanted their attention and they gave it to you.
Either way, I don't think we need to be punishing anyone for playing a game within the rules. Even if we don't always enjoy their methods.
-
Yeah, I don't think this is a thing.
Just some salty crybabies trying to defend their decision by projecting on the killer.

Good survivor who isn't even a survivor main here. I actually like noed. It adds an extra challenge.
Just proves my point. We ain't sweating Noed.
-
After reading Moundshrouds post, I do want to make a point about when I refer to "tunneling "
My meaning is the purposeful attempt to chase and remove a player from the game or at least to the next hook stage.
Not running into a recently unhooked survivor when I am checking gens, nor said survivor running into me in panic out of some jungle gym, etc.
I mean a purposeful attempt.
-
Good killers don't use NOED and good survivors don't give a ######### about NOED.
-
I would agree. I hate tunneling, and now refuse to do it as a killer, even if it is the smartest move. My own personal choice.
But, as such I run DS as a survivor.
Either way, ggs from me. But, I come prepared to at least buy myself another few seconds.
-
Nothing as basekit except cypress Mori, IMO.
-
Just do bones....I mean open the doors if you want to start the EGC. See, EZ.
-
DS is still anti tunnel. I have hit it more then any other time in my history playing this game. It is still an effective perk. I agree that the return to the hook and tunnel is the new meta for many killers tho. Hopefully with the DS "nerf" we will see the results and possible work on more balance in this regards.
But, they are viable accepted tactics, so in the end you got to get used to them and adjust as needed.
-
Absolutely not. The fun is the limited perk spots available and customizing them to your individual gameplay.
-
P3 Tapp. Name, ...WapTapper.
Thought that was hilarious
-
I think sweaty and scummy are two very different things. As a previous sweat lord that has recently mellowed a bit, I still enjoy the core concept of the game. So why I don't quite sweat like I used to, I still want the challenge of playing the game. In fact I personally handicap myself to make it more of a challenge. But I still try to win, I just might do it by trying to get 12 hooks.
So I do understand your position. But like in your Demo example, that would bore the hell out of me.Just riding around on his back all game. Same if I was killer, I would want you to at least try against me. Remember, fun is subjective. Some of us like a casual stroll, some a jog, and some enjoy the sweaty ass sprint.
-
Hell yeah, if it stow, it go
-
Not me, I still run it. You can have my DS and DH when you pry it from my cold exhausted on the ground slugged ass!
-
This is hilarious... 10/10 from me!!
-
Load in with no Gen slowdown. You know they are confident. Like that Hillbilly that absolutely will not M1 and only uses the chainsaw. 1 Perk, BBQ in the middle slot, just to let you know they can.
Scary....
-
Honestly I just play killer with BBQ and a pudding for 5 or 6 games. Run spirit and get a 350k to 500k.
But, if I wanted to do it as survivor. Run WGLFand a cake, then get altruistic as #########.

Pig isn't all that common a killer, and often you are trapped early on in the match rather than later, so I guess he'd never been in that position before.
Reaching red ranks isnt that hard if you have competent team mates
Fair enough, but it was a solo q. Maybe he was boosted on other occasions. Perhaps he had a buddy with him.
-
Dude, I saw this in a RED RANK game the other day. Dude tried to run out the exit gates with a beeping trap. The pig and I just tbagged the body for a few seconds, both thoroughly confused. Then a quick boop and I was out.
But, how do you make it to red ranks and not know this?
-
It's the same on both sides. The Devs are trying to entice interaction between the two sides. And they reward you for doing this with emblems. In the end you play for your own win definitions, emblems be damned. So if you want to play stealthy, well your chaser emblem may suffer a bit.
I personally like the interaction element of the game. Whether I win or lose that particular moment, it is the funnest part of the game for me. Doing gennys is means to escape and an important part of being a team player. Same with some tactics, like slugging. Necessary to control the flow of the game, but not the funnest part for me.
-
If you did away with SWFs killers would need huge NERFs. Ask any killer that has competed in red ranks over the last couple of years. SWFs, while strong can be defeated regularly. And 4 solo's, with the amount of potatoes now in red ranks, would push the kill rate in to 80 percentile. Could you imagine Iri Huntress or MDR Spirit, Forever Freddy against randos, every game?
Not to mention, the loss of players. The game would definitely lose a large percentage of it's player base if you did away with SWF. I recommend embracing all aspects of the game. Play solo, killer and Swf. Then you will know how to counter it, as well how to enjoy it.
Once again, I'll ask the question, that will not be answered. Do you lose more games than you win as killer?
-
No, just shrink the maps a bit, or make gens spawn a little tighter so killer can patrol them a bit more efficiently. Although the killer still must make good decisions in chases, and when to abandon them and pressure gens.

I don't disagree. I'm a big fan of good sportsmanship, and friendly, polite banter at the end. I don't even focus on numbers really. I'm just playing the game, and my default mode is "all in." Remember, I'm not saying I Herd, Camp, Tunnel, Slug, and Mori constantly. I said I do them when a specific match calls for one or more of them. I do these things when I have to do them. They aren't a strategy for me, just tactical options.
A downside of the DbD matchmaking system (if you could call it a system) is that I've been going against primarily Red Rank Survivors for a LONG time. I face SWF more often than not. That means if I'm not going full tilt from the start of the match, I'm going to lose. I have very little margin for error. I have to make the assumption that I'm facing a tournament squad every time. I'm not entirely heartless; if I figure out (in time) otherwise, I take it down a notch. It is good for them, and good for me. The problem is games are so damn hard and fast, that it isn't easy to identify when the damn matchmaking system has tossed me a herd of Bambi before I've already stomped on them.
I've often thought (and stated) that I think they should give the Killer more information about the Survivors he/she is facing. They should tell me when I'm not up against the best of the best. When the Ques bog down they start to toss anyone they can to me, and that is when things get bad. I'd rather see a screen flash up there and TELL me I'm actually up against two Yellows, a Green, and a single Red. Then I can start the match in a friendlier gear without doing myself a disservice. I feel the same way about the poorly thought out decision NOT to give Killers the same Hook info that Survivors get. I don't want that info so I can Tunnel (I can already do that quite well when I need to) but rather to know if I'm about to Tunnel when I don't have to do it. I expect many Players would use it to do the opposite, to avoid Tunneling when the need isn't there.
Once MMR is on all the time, I think they REALLY should consider giving the Killer some kind of Rating notification, particularly when the Ques force uneven matchups. While I'm always going to play to win, I'd love the option of challenging myself by holding back when I know it is feasible. But without some kind of warning, when most of my games are against hardcore roughnecks, I don't have the option to open with anything less than my A-Game.
Well said. And a great point about MMR and letting killers have the information needed to perhaps let off the gas a bit if we know we are facing competition that may not be on par with our experience.
I do agree that we get conditioned as red rank killers to go into every game full tilt until the match proves differently. And this is a hard mindset to break, I still have to struggle at times to play completely "fair."
I'm just trying to stop salivating at the sound of the bell, lol
Hope you have a great day!!

I find it simpler to be direct. I will Herd, Camp, Tunnel, Slug, and Mori whenever a particular match calls for it. If the Survivors are setting themselves up for a 3-Gen, or I can nudge them into one, I let it (or make it) happen. I consider these things tactics, nothing more and nothing less. More to the point, they are niche tactics that will hurt the Killer if done wrong, but can pay dividends if done right. I make no pretentions about how I play; I never have.
The sick, sad world truth is that it doesn't matter what a Killer does. Bad sports are going to be salty and serve up bile. I've been accused of doing all sorts of things, and more often than not I wasn't even doing them. The worst part about it all is that Survivors are responsible for about 90% of Tunneling themselves. They don't make safe rescues, they farm, they don't bring Borrowed Time, they unhook with the person they are saving between themselves and the Killer, and they vanish like Ninja the second they unhook. If they aren't there to take a protection hit or a hook for the person they rescue, I wonder why they bothered in the first place.
It isn't the Killer's gig to do their job for them. You are not beholden to look away and ignore the prey in front of you. That nonsense is straight out of the Survivor's Handbook for Killers. You are also not responsible for any other Player's fun. They bring that themselves, or not. They either enjoy they game or they don't. You don't have time to worry about that. You have enough to do in the match. Just play the game; play it hard. Kill them all and let the Entity sort them out.
You are not wrong. And we have had our discussions. And certainly piss poor saves should not be rewarded.
But, I argue.....there is another way to play this game. Admittedly it will lower your kill stats from an average of 3.8 to about a 2.8.
But, IMO, the game becomes more fun, more interactive and less about arbitrary numbers. The warm respectful conversations post game are a welcome change after 4 years in this game.
-
It's all fair in love and EGC!!
If a person is mad at a killer for trying to secure 1 kill during EGC then they have a very biased view of things.

I’m not sure how intimidating in person I am but I’m only 5,1 😂😂🤷🏻♀️ But I hear you. I think I just need to get over the initial rage and get better at the game thank you
Certainly! But even without the intimidating factor. Weight lifting in general does allow you to get out a lot of frustration and stress. Yoga is great too and easier to do at home.
Good Luck in the fog my friend!!
-
I have hit at least 25 DSs. I hit it ten times on Friday night alone. One game killer got hit 3 times. Still a good perk
-
Hello!!! You as well!!
-
Unfortunately it takes experience to get the better of those that probably have a lot more time in game than you do. This usually happens when players feel they have superior skills than their opponents. So they come in a little cocky.
I don't understand it. Maybe it is to relive the glory of their middle school years which were probably the highlight of their lives. As far as how not to take it personally and get frustrated. Well this is something that I hope all of us work on in our lives. I would suggest yoga and weight lifting. After throwing some weight around, all my stress melts away. Plus it's nice to know if you meant them IRL, they would probably keep their mouths shut.
But meditation helps, as well. Remember you are a good person with tremendous value. It this is only a game.

I'm against DC, especially when the survivor is dropped once and hadn't been hooked but when I'm spectating what I saw today. I didn't blame them for doing that I'm afraid... the guy was a proper nob. And pretty sure he's the sort of killer that would literally complain or DC having 3 gens pop in his face. Today we managed to get 2 done and the rest of the match he slugged 2 at the start of the match and dropped the 3rd after the 2nd gen was done (bare in mind he left 2 on the floor already unhooked) so it was such a quick match. Get the whole tac tics but that was cringey af!
I can understand that.
But why insult me?

You have obviously read none of my posts. No I am against any kind of BM. Including the DC.

Well, in once scenario BMers get the satifsaction of mocking the player and knowing they have to watch. In other case, the player takes control and leaves, not wishing to deal with them any longer. and denying them their entertainment The bloodpoints lost can be regained tenfold in other matches.
If there was an option to show the player that their BMing target is AFK and won't be watching them do their victory monkey dance, it would be a great improvement, I'm all for that.
Yeah. Fair enough. I guess it's all in one's perspective .

Doesn't staying and enduring give them what they want? There is little difference, except leaving sooner means putting their little self-pleasuring session to an end much sooner than they expected and making them sweat for the next match hoping they can show off again.
It doesn't matter whether I see them again or not: bully players use "they'll never meet me again" as an excuse to BM others. It doesn't always work llike that. Also, given how most of adult DbD streamers act during their plays (including Fog Whisperers), I think 12-year olds would actually be more mature and civil.
I would say DCing demonstrates that a person was so affected by the BM that they sacrificed all their bloodpoints, pip, and took a penalty because of it.
If you're BMing, isn't that what you want? A reaction?
-
Tunneling is always going to be prevalent with noobs. They haven't learned to play well yet and are still more concerned with kills than getting better or bloodpoints.
However I am one of those that believe Tunneling as a tactic is becoming meta, more and more. I see it constantly. I said in a previous post, last Friday I hit 10 DSs. In one night. I have never done that before, and this is post nerf.
It's another chicken or egg debate. Killers hate SWF, tunnel dude out of game, no one helps or takes protection hit. Survivors say ######### this, I'm starting to SWF.
It is the game.

They don't necessarily want or need anyone to DC. But they will lose the last hook kills. Because they never got the chance to hook them so in a way it would teach them a lesson for mockery. Lose point if you're a teasing killer.
Yeah, but you get quitter bonus and same emblem points if someone dcs after 5 min anyway. So they really lose nothing and get the satisfaction of knowing they got to the other person.
I just say gg and move on. I think that bothers them more because they don't get a reaction.
