Whataboutism is the hallmark of an illogical statement. It is the assumption an enviroment in which the statement your focused on is in no way related to the item your discussing but dbd is a time trial based game so everything matters. Its impact however can be debated and in many case carious mechanics matter. So saying no stop talking about x item when x item is affecting the win condition of x side is moronic. Don't believe everything `you hear actually think about the statement.
On the matte4r of bbq its a very easily countearable perk so much so I run an additional tracking perk usually thrilling tremors or discordance. I highly recommend you use the perk about 30 games in red ranks youll see that as far as crutches go its pretty garbage. Crutch perks is also kind of a ridiclous statement you won because of an item or perk in the game not really you just exploiting a broken mechanic. Any competitive fighting, shooter or moba game player will tell you the same thing they play what's best its not a crutch is the meta.
You can appreciate the person who locks in the meme build the weaker character but that dosen't make them the best players. That is indisputably the one who plays the strongest build the strongest character well and wins.
I agree with you that Meta is a better term for the question I was asking than crutch. I just couldn't come up with that at the time of posting. Thanks for the feedback. Very helpful.

If they ever change my double blood point perk because of these kinds of complaints i swear to neptune, I'll play nothing but spirit and freddy with undying ruin infectious and NOED. WHY? Well no more double blood points so can't afford to play every one so.... Yeah
And it gives me all the reasons on the world to move from hooks..... Aren't you always complaining about that too? It's so easy to counter but hey i guess killers just can't have fun in anyway without survivors permission right?
The post is about which perk killers can't live without and rely on most. The post is not about getting rid of BBQ or anything like that. Take a breath.

The data that they use to make changes based on killers is from the top 1% of killer players.
If they made survivor changes based on the top 1% of survivors, well there would certainly be more survivor nerfs than what we are seeing.
But to be honest I don't think we need survivor nerfs. We need a solo player buffs.
Bring solo survivors up to the level of an SWF team. Then buff all the killers accordingly. Then every survivor would have the tools to succeed if they work together.
I would love to see Kindred be basekit for Solo Q (ONLY for the non-SWF players).

Ok, but what if I'm the one on the hook? "Just struggle", yea, but I will still depip and only get very few bloodpoints. So how is that a strategy for me whatsoever? I feel like people who give that kind of advice aren't the ones sitting on the hook with a killer looking at them. It's easy to say "just do gens" or "waste the killers time" when you can actually play the game.
I shouldn't depip because I killer decided to stare at me on the hook and make me die on my first. The killer is still getting more BP for facecamping than I am for hanging on there for whatever how long.
This game requires that survivors work together toward objectives. Why play the team-side (survivor) of a game and ask "what's in it for me to help my teammates?" A team player asks "What is best for the team in a particular situation?
I do agree with you that if you are hooked and spend all states on the hook and choose to stay til the end of struggle, BHVR should give a sizeable BP bonus in that instance.

Self-care is a useless Perk when you actually have skill and common sense in the game. Innerstrength is 100x better and being in a locker at the right times can save you. I'm not saying be a Dwight, but if you're getting ready to heal as someone is going on hook you can conveniently go into a locker to heal and avoid BBQ. Sorry, I just get way to many dumb ass greedy teammates who'd rather self-care their self than let me heal them with We'll Make It.
My issue with Self-care is that it creates an expectation that after every hit the survivor wants to self-care to reset to a healthy state. This wastes way too much time. Survivors who are unwilling to play while injured for a percentage of the game are probably not playing as smartly as they could.

I'm a survivor main and I play sometimes alone and sometimes with SWF, and to be honest the game is getting ridiculous easy for survivors. I mean me and my friends we almost never lose any game and we always leave 4, we share all the good perks between us, and we gen rush. We face Rank 1 killers and we win easily. Before when I played this game we used to fear the killers and even when you try to gen rush killers still can annoy you. Now be honest it sucks, every game is easy and we guarantee to win every time nothing chalking when playing survivors.
I wish they can bring the old killers back, at least it was much challenging to play survivor.

The game isn't balanced solely around red ranks.
Average kill rate across all ranks is 56%
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/68NFHE5K59C2/image.png
That's with active challenges. If survivors don't mess around, ignore challenges and just repair / loop the kill rate will be even lower.
Thanks @Yamaoka for the updated stats. The ones I saw were from earlier this year. If possible, can you post a link to where these stats are.
-
Some survivors will be upset because you 99%d. Conversely, if you opened and the EGC was counting down, other survivors may complain because they didn't have enough time to try to save.
IMO, it's almost always a better idea to 99% to give your teammates time. Sometimes someone will get hit waiting a half second to open the gate and that is unfortunate.
Usually the survivor who is complaining is a casualty of one of those scenarios and they will say that you should have done the other thing (whichever is the one you didn't do).
Just ignore them...

This is a poorly thought out post. The majority of what you cite are tactics which are:
- Valid and specified as such by the DEV.
- None of those are defined as "holding the game hostage."
- Irrelevant to the discussion at hand.
Of the things you mention, only slashing people on the hook even comes close to trying to send some kind of Killer version of tea-bagging. Let me break it down for you, since you seem out of the loop: Tunneling, Camping, Slugging, Blocking, and even the Mori are all valid tactics that Killers can choose (via agency) to employ. By definition they are part of the game and not "toxic" or whatever other silly term you want to use. Holding the game hostage has a specific definition and is extremely difficult to do and has no place here. That is an offense which can be reported if the very rare terms are met. It is inappropriate for you to try and merge tactics you don't like with something else.
Right now, we are talking about people behaving like obnoxious idiots, i.e. BAD SPORTS either pre-game or post game. This is reflected by their chatter. Outside of breaking the actual, reportable rules of the game, it is the only thing that qualifies for bad behavior. Hence:
- Do not cheat, either by hack or lag spikes.
- Do not disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
- Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.
Doing those three things is all that is required to be a good sport. Thus, Killers are not defined as being toxic by YOUR personal standard, but rather by reportable behavior. Are you picking up what I'm putting down? Your Survivor's Rulebook for Killers has no place or validity.
Imagine a forum without any posts about toxicity, entitlement and fairness...all of these are as @Moundshroud put so well, are constructs within the rules of the game. Play the game... employ any strategy... just don't cheat. Oh and if you are a survivor, you should do things to help your team, not fiddle about being useless... That's it.

What do you when no joke, 90% of your games, your teammates just stop playin?
Game after game after game after game, all three teammates stop doing gens with 1-2 to go, and I'm the only person trying while injured. I die constantly because of this.
I can't 1v1 the killer when no one else is doing anything.
This is honestly most of my games and I'm so tired of being in unwinnable situations because my teammates literally will not play the game.
My favorite is when I am using Kindred and am hooked. killer is camping and the solo q stars still won't get on a gen. they run around like chickens.
-
Does anyone have any BHVR statistics on the percentage of key hatch openings? My experience has been that it is 5% or less. I would love to know the actual key escape Percentages.
-
The anger/frustration should be directed toward BHVR. They need to address this scenario. It's not on the killer or survivor who use the game options to slug or to leave the game.
-
Survivors are competing for points and resources during the game (chests, unhooks, exit gates etc...)
Should survivors reward selfish play styles by other survivors?
Trying to kobe in the face of another survivor is SELFISH play on the part of the player trying to kobe.
I understand those survivors that also don't want to reward selfish play.
-
Would it help to get a Bloodpoint compensation amount for survivors who are camped ,tunneled, mori'd or slugged (for a certain amount of time)? It's not the complete solution but it may help somewhat.
-
Great discussion!
Killers can suffer from the stress of TOO MUCH CONSTANT ENGAGEMENT resulting in a stressful "always on" experience.
Survivors biggest complaints stem from the killer strategies that result in A LACK OF ENGEGEMENT (being camped or tunneled or slugged) where survivors are not in any meaningful game experience.
-
That's exactly what I have been seeing. Slugging and camping...
-
Camping and slugging...That is what every game with this killer is now. Speedy baby and basecamp Charlotte...
-
The games are all slug...and some victor camping of hooked and downed survivors. More slugging and camping is not what this game needs...
-
It's all camping and slugging with this killer so far. Now though we have multiple campsites with speed baby and base camp. Speed baby camps the downed or hooked survivor and base camp hangs near another survivor. Just what we need more of... slugging and camping.
-
ALSO...Try not to run the killer toward survivors doing a generator. If you hear the gen sound ahead and can move in a direction away from the survivors working on a gen, then do so.

You have to micro manage like ######### insane. I'm guessing you shitters never played killer above rank 16 and hit rank 4 survivor once. I play both killer and survivor at rank 1 (hundreds of more hours in survivor) and no, killer is not easier. You survivor mains go against one mediocre Spirit and then go have some autistic rage on the forum because you can't loop or push gens. Learn how to play the game you absolute doofus. I've never seen such repulsive talk before. You legitmately don't play enough of the game to even be qualified to talk about it. Go watch some otzdarva beginner videos, you clearly need them. Best of luck to your future teammates, they clearly need it.
2,300 hours in the game as survivor and killer. Reached red ranks many times. You should refrain from the personal trolling and stick to the strength of your argument.

I think you should try playing killer your opinion will change drastically. Spirit, nurse, oni, and freddy are very strong killers. The rest are either fair or really really bad. The killer does not have control over the games outcome they are reliant on survivor mistakes. It sounds like you're a bad survivor or your like me and play Solo and are getting bad teammates. Really playing survivor the only thing that hurts me is bad teammates and while that is frustrating when I employ just one friend let alone more I almost never lose. If you gen rush and why wouldn't you not like you have anything better to do you will almost never lose. Also to be a good survivor all you have to do is play survivor to be a good killer means your a really good survivor player as well and seriously killer require a lot more map knowledge it's clear you only know one side. Knowing when to chase pushing survivors were you need them to go just to name a few is basic essential knowledge to have a fighting chance. I'm not saying survivors don't have a few issue but the fact I can one vs one most killers in a one vs four game shows a serious balance issue. granted I am a 🐖 main when I play killer hence why I understand the struggle
Thank you for your thoughts...
Just look at the BHVR posted Kill rate (latest one was around 70%). If killer is so much harder, then why is the kill rate so high? Are killer players just naturally superior gamers that they can do well with a harder role while survivor players somehow can't master an easier role? If this was the case, then the kill rates should be much lower.
I have 2.3K hours in the game and have played both sides for years. I have been rank 1 survivor many times. While i believe that killer is more stressful and killers are "always on" versus survivor's time, there still remains the fact that:
Killers are not reliant on another killer using up their resources, hindering their actions or giving away their location. A killer's plan either works or it doesn't and it's on the killer.
As a survivor, there is the killer and the alternative motivations of the survivors to deal with. In Solo Q, many many times a survivor is working AGAINST a killer plus 1 or more survivors. This results in very sub-optimal objective play in the survivors part.
In some scenarios, if survivors are working together and the killer is making certain mistakes (not pressuring gens), then the survivor's job is easier than the killers.
In more scenarios where the survivors are NOT working together and the killer is NOT making certain mistakes, then the advantage is to the killer and the killer play is easier.

You forget people thought Freddy was "too strong" at launch, so the devs nerfed him to the ground and he stayed a useless killer for about 2 years and a half.
This is what'll happen to Spirit if the devs ever nerf her, they wont give 2 shits if she ends up like Freddy, you know why? Because they already got their money from that chapter, they dont need to sell more Spirit DLC, they need to sell cosmetics and the next killer and the next survivor, and they have to work on the next battlepass, they dont have to balance the Spirit, they dont have to care about her the same way they didnt care about Freddy, the same way they dont care about how boring It is to sit on a gen for 80+ seconds, they dont have to fix any of that because that doesnt make money.
So instead of just asking for nerfs that'll eventually make the devs gutter another killer, why dont you guys just adapt, bring other perks and stop complaining?
But no, some people just want everything, right? They want to be able to escape against Freddy, Doc, Billy, Myers, Nurse, Spirit and all the killers, all with the same build, with the same playstyle, just because they are "good survivors" and they think they should be able to counter EVERYTHING a killer does.
MAYBE you are not as good as you guys think you are, MAYBE that Spirit guy is way better than you. I mean, you can go for a pallet and then switch directions, you can drop the pallet as soon as you get there and then vault It, you can bait a window, you can run at her whenever you think she is phasing, you can stop running and start walking to another side, all of those are counters to her power, and you can bring, as I've said, Iron Will and Quick and Quiet which makes It even harder for the Spirit guy, but MAYBE that Spirit guy has faced those counters so many times that he's just predicting what you're gonna do, but you want to nerf the killer because those people are better than you? That's the most disgusting kind of players you can find on any game.
Guessing, because you don't have any information from the killer, is NOT a skill. It's not counterplay either. It's flip-a-coin play.

that makes no sense. bringing perks to help agaisnt a killer isnt counterplay, not too mention a good spirit will still get you anyway considering you still breath, you make an exhale when you vault a window, stridor exists, she can see your scratch marks, hear your footsteps and grass moves.
Why should you have to ruin your entire build to bring 2 perks just to help against (not even counter) 1 killer? stupidest thing ive ever heard
If survivors could see which killer they were facing then I would be more comfortable versing spirit. But that will NEVER happen.

I think that slugging all 4 people and watching them all bleed out should count as holding a game hostage but it doesn't so whatever.
One person no problem hell even 2 if you have too but all four is just toxic as hell.
How does BHVR feel about the slug 4 and let them bleed out situation.
Does it happen often enough for it to be a problem?
Should BHVR resolve the bleed out scenario with some type of fix?
There should be some remedy other than the DC for extended periods such as bleeding out for 4 mins...

Why would you need to coordinate to play survivor.....you only have 1 task, and the killer can only be after 1 person at a time, and the devs have given solo survivors so much free information you don't even need coms to understand whats going on. Theres enough aura reading going around to check for pancreatic cancer, and enough 2nd chance escapes to turn yourself into a cat....
Its an A-symmetrical game, the killer is supposed to have the advantage over survivors. But the devs are the ones who over time keep making it easier and easier for survivors until survivor players at large get complacent...or just downright forget what their objectives are or how to respond in a situation that the devs didn't take into account. Nerfing things in games always produces this after shock. Players get used to the nerf, get complacent, get weaker overall, and eventually demand another nerf, where they then repeat the cycle.
Its like working out with 20 pounds, and you get stronger, then you turn around and start doing the same amount of reps with 15 pounds, and then 10, and then 5, and then a featherweight foam toy <----you just end up making yourself weaker over time. But....survivors love getting worse at the game for some reason /shrug.
Before all this free information existed survivors played smarter, played safer, and made much more impactful plays in a game. They also learned the maps in and out like the back of their hands, knew where generators were without needing a map, knew where items would be without needing a map, knew where hooks would be just from eyeballing their surroundings.....
But new survivors now adays, even within the last 2 years have gotten progressively worse. And it shows because their rank looks boosted.
Survivors do need to coordinate to finish the 5 gens against a good killer with gen pressure being applied. I'm sure you know that. It's just a fact.
Overall....
I don't expect that you will ever get the changes you want from bhvr. They don't view this as an e-sports competitive game. The big question which we will eventually see played out is "who is the group that bhvr is appealing to?"
Will it be high skill killers like yourselves or the lower skilled casual middle group? Not sure how it can be both. We'll see...

Hi
You are wrong. Thanks for your feedback. Killers are weaker then survivors. If a killer goes against the survivor SWF, the killer will lose way more then they win. This is not a debate. Too many sources can prove this and do again and again on these forums.
If killers are weaker, how come killers currently have over a 70% kill rate. This includes even noob killers. If killers are weak, then why aren't the kill rates 30%?

Doesn't that speak more about how bad survivors are at the game than have anything to do with the killer?
I don't know. I've always thought that it is harder for 4 survivors to coordinate optimally than for 1 killer to work a plan.
The disorganization of survivors in Solo Q is where the killer gains advantage over the survivors.

Judging by comments, a lot of people don't like Legion. But is he the #1 baddie on anyone's list? Hell no. There are way worse killers to go up against. For me, it's Doc and only Doc.

In solo Q, most of the time against Legion (dull, annoying and boring gameplay) there will be at least 1 or 2 suicides or DCs. I don't blame them. He is incredibly un-fun to versus. Not challenging, but rather annoying.

“Sorry, but no, I’m not giving you a free pass with a guaranteed wiggle free”
Translation...because I am outplayed in a particular situation, I'm going to take the game hostage for 4 minutes or whatever time so I can get my 4k. That's the lizard brain in it's full glory. Win at all costs...because!..
BHVR condones this behavior or they would allow a speed-up of bleed out for the survivor. Until this option is available, we'll all be the mercy of players like the one who posted this...

waste to perk slots so the game doesn’t fly by in the first 2 minutes.
worry about items.
hope you don’t get a bully squad with a map offering.
hope you don’t get a map that completely counters your ability.
Take the time to get rid of pallets when they’re dropped.
just to name a few.
Yes...but it's all based on you. You have complete control of all of that. Survivors get screwed by their teammates all the time in Solo Q.

Survivors should be scared of this, actually, very similar to the map reworks. With the map reworks, killers were already fighting an uphill battle, so when there is a closer semblance to balance, Killers seem OP. Now, if they truly remove Bloodlust after this experiment (I'd say keep BL 1, but BL 2 and 3 need to go 100%), then Killers are going to become better players and thus Survivors are going to have a harder time on average. Now, this is ultimately a good thing, but I'd just be careful if I was you.
Nah...The killers lizard brain is only capable of holding 3 instructions (See, hit & hook). They don't want to get better. They want more "advantage".

@carnage4u said:
This game is easier for survivors. Maybe at the lowest ranks with all new players who are all playing badly, the killer may do slightly better, but once people have a few hours of gameplay and/or play with friends. Killers are the weak link of this game.
Tunneling/camping at high rank may at best give the killer 1 kill before game is over and all Gens are going, and most bully squads can easily clear 5 gens, and deal with a tunnerer/camper with ease.
The exception is the players with 3,000+ hours that face off against players with les then a couple hundred, but that also plays out as it should. (this happens often enough to do terrible/awful/pathetic matchmaking)
Killer is easier...
You don't have to
- rely on other players for your success
- know every inch of the maps
- be able to counter the killer's power and potential perks
- be in an area where there are still resources (pallets, windows)
- not get face camped or tunnelled or mori'd
- not have the gates spawn too close
Just to name a few...
-
State the obvious much?
