How long have you played Dbd? Because yes, tunneling and camping are considered playstyles, but they are both extremely toxic. I can understand camping or tunneling at the end of the game for a last resort, But, playing the game just to camp and tunnel every match is most definitely toxic.

Plus, I mentioned that Pig mains are prone to head nodding and hook slashing because they play scummy and can't handle being outplayed the majority of the time.

I'd said earlier in the thread I was sympathetic for your bad experiences, but it's hard to be so if you're going to continue to paint everyone who plays a certain character with the same brush. It would be like the people who claim every survivor that plays the game is toxic because of a bad experience with a SWF group -- saying so would not be factual and would not be productive.

I've run into far more facecamping, "toxic" Leatherfaces than I have any other killer, and definitely more than Pig players. I've had really bad experiences with Freddies and GF's as well. Yet, I won't claim almost everyone who plays thise characters is toxic. I've had a GF meme with teabags and farm for a whole match, and more than one Leatherface and Freddy give me a hatch as the last survivor. The game is not one size fits all -- your experience is exactly that, not some universal truth.

What is there to fix? The killer got 1 kill and depipped. The other 3 survivors got to escape.

Exactly. If a killer is willing to fruitlessly chase you for an enitre 5 gens as the OP is saying, then what game mechanism could possibly prevent that? None.

I have a ton of escapes as survivor, but I'm admittedly not very good in a chase. If I can pull 2 or 3 gens out of a chase, those are the moments I savor more than any others. I had a game where I got tunnelled for the whole match after being the 1st hooked (killer ate a DS, I was hooked a 2nd time, was saved by a teammate with a flashlight from death hook, then finally sacrificed). I depipped, but everyone else on my team got out, and I honestly didn't care that I died -- it was worth it.

  • I wouldn't call a majority of Pig players toxic -- it sounds like you've just had a run against a bad group of Pig who give those of us who don't play that way a bad name.

When I play survivor, I've gone against "toxic" Pig players, but no more so than any other killer (and far few than many other killers). Out of killers most likely to meme with, I've had more matches with Pigs who played that way than all of the other killers combined.

ETA: I had said that I was sympathetic for your bad experiences, but since you can't help but generalize about a whole group of players, you can get your sympathy from the world's smallest violin instead.

  • I play 20-25 hours a week as survivor, and I really haven't noticed a difference (at Red/Purple ranks). Some nights we'll see a few tunnelers, other nights not -- but that's no difference for me since DS got its change.

I still run DS on every survivor build, and it hasn't really affected by gameplay either. It's bailed me out a couple of times when I've legitimately been tunneled, and when I'm not, I'll move from where I was unhooked to a safer zone to work on an objective, since even before, in those instances DS would have worn off anyway by the time I'd be interacting with the killer again. I haven't spent any time in a match doing "nothing" because of worrying about it deactivating, since I'm either using it or playing smartly around its conditions.

  • I wouldn't call it an advantage as much as I would call it putting oneself at a disadvantage to play without them. Headphones of some type are almost a necessity, especially when playing killer. I started playing the game at first without them, and I was stunned by how important directional audio cues were, even as a survivor (less important for survivor than killer, but still very useful). I can't imagine playing the game without them now.

I just earned my first Merciless Killer with Pig, and it was against pretty decent Survivors too. That match was both fun and challenging. I think I might continue to play Pig as one of my regular Killers. ๐Ÿท๐Ÿท๐Ÿท

Pig Main here, actually experimenting on a build called Side Quest Pig or totem pig. Hex undying, Ruin, Devour, and thrill.

    Addons, those two mentioned.

The idea is to overwhelm the players with too many side missions to do/work on. deal with ruin so you can work faster, deal with devour so you dont die later on, deal with ruin or thrill so you can deal with the other hexes, get your trap off your head so you dont die.

been pretty fun in my opinion but its heavily rng dependent.

I normally play Pig with Ruin/Undying, but I've been sprinkling in Devour to the mix as well in some matches for the same reasons. My sample size has been somewhat small, but in nearly every match, I'm either getting a ton of value out of Ruin or Devour even after the survivors break two of the totems. Despite the luck factor, there's just enough slowdown with the traps and Undying keeping something alive, that even on the maps that have bad totem spawns, it's worked better than expected. I'd like to see that (or with TOTH added in) played out on a map like Midwich, Glenvale, or Lery's (where totem spawns can be downright nasty).

  • I legitimately go out of my way to play nice, whether it's as survivor or killer. As a survivor, be a good teammate, don't act toxic towards the killer, be a good sport, and just have fun, win or lose. As killer, do my best not to tunnel, no camping, no BM'ing, etc. I REALLY have done my best to not be like some of the people I've run across in game.

But one night, after a terrible run of matches as survivor, with teammates who weren't bad skill-wise, but purposefully playing bad (leaving my friend and I to die on first hook, working with the killer, etc.), I embraced one moment of sheer pettiness that I'm almost embarrassed I stooped too. Almost, lol.

My friend and I are on a Badham map with two randoms, one of which is playing Dwight. I'm on one of the upstairs gens and pumping it out (Ruin was up, so I didn't want to leave it). Dwight (who had teabagged the killer when we were found in a group near the start of the match) was downed and hooked. My friend and I were both a good distance away, but the 4th survivor, a Jane, didn't look to be going to rescue him. Remembering how frustrated I was watching no one coming to save me all through the night, I leave my gen (about 85% done at this point), because I'm going to need to book it to keep Dwight from getting into struggle. I run across the map to his hook -- just to watch him kobe right in front of my face (1st kobe attempt after just hanging there the entire time). ๐Ÿคฌ

I was furious. Worse yet, the killer (a Clown) comes back to the hook, catches me trying to get away from it, and I end up getting hooked. As I'm hanging, the Dwight is nearby and self-caring as I'm getting ready to go into 2nd stage myself (the Jane was powering through gens). Even though the Dwight was there, my friend had to leave where he was at to pull me down. Later on, as my friend is trapped hiding near the killer shack, the Dwight (who it turned out, was running Bond) kept looping the Clown around where my friend was trying to stay hidden.

Eventually, my friend scoots away, the Dwight gets downed and hooked in the basement of the killer shack. The Clown heads towards Jane and I on the final gen. I scurry away, the Clown injures me, but abandons the chase to go back and try to get the Jane, who pops the last gen. I head towards the basement with my med-kit to where the Dwight, who kobed in front of me after I'd run across the map to save him (and who wouldn't save me after I got hooked for my attempt) is hanging.

I go down into the basement, but instead of pulling Dwight off the hook, I proceeded to use the med-kit to heal myself. Right in front of him on the hook. On top of it, I was using his Leader perk to speed up the process, all the while saying aloud, "Why don't you kobe now, pal?" (or something to that effect).

I started to leave up the stairs after I healed myself, but had a crisis of conscience and went back to pull Dwight off at the last second. That's when the Jane got downed by NOED, and I hesistated just long enough that Dwight got sacrificed. On their screen, it probably looked like I'd come back to fake unhook him right before he died.

I'm not proud of it, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it felt awfully satisfying.

  • There's a great deal of irony in descrbing ANYTHING to do with the hatch -- a mechanism that opens up (nothwithstanding the use of a key) when everyone but one person is dead and the number of generators to power the gates aren't done, allowing a desperate chance to escape for the last survivor that wouldn't ordinarily be possible -- as "the most killer sided mechanic in the game".

    All praise ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ‘‘

God damn chio that's so impressive so much information and help but I'm not surprised coming from you. Nice to see more love for Piggy!

    ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ’–

Piggie doesn't get picked nearly enough. ๐Ÿ˜” I'm happy to see whenever someone joins us in appreciation of her unique kit. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I can guarantee I'm a lot more fun to play DBD with than someone who literally complains relentlessly every day about the game, lol. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • As someone who plays The Pig a LOT, a few thoughts -- other Pig players experience with her will obviously vary, but there's always more than one way to play successfully.

-- You're gifted with an innate in-game slowdown in the form of your traps, so use them. Some Pig players like to save them, but I start busting them out immediately. Nothing worse than having the last gen pop, and you still have a trap left that's been rendered useless. Survivors will, for the most part, start searching boxes immediately, even if their trap isn't active, so that's a survivor that's NOT working on a generator. That slowdown is invaluable in a game where gens can go by so quickly.

-- That said, additional slowdown perks for gen regression are useful, if almost necessary. Corrupt paired with Pop can work, though Pop can be unreliable at times. Even though she's not a high mobility killer, I will run Ruin paired with Undying -- again, once a survivor has a trap on, particularly an active one, they won't be looking for your totem. I tend to run Surveillance with her as well, and I get a TON of use out of it with Ruin (as long as the totems stay up). I run BBQ with her mainly to reduce the BP grind, but Enduring is a 4th good perk (since you'll be eating through pallets, or Save The Best For Last (since you can save stacks by using your Ambush Attack on the Obsession). Sloppy Butcher isn't bad either, as survivors who take longer healing won't be searching boxes or working on gens. Any additional slowdown you can get is good for you.

-- Stealth is not her strength, but it still can be useful. Her terror radius doesn't go away immediately like Ghostface, and after you uncrouch, there's a brief period that it takes to come back. She moves painfully slow while crouched, so while it's okay to use it to move around, you have to be selective -- you don't want to be crossing the entire map while crouched. I get a lot of cheeky hits using her crouch to stealth back to a generator that Surveillance tells me someone has jumped back on. You don't have to use her Ambush attack in those instances -- using her stealth simply to get close to a survivor and in position to land a hit is often enough. There are many matches where I barely use her stealth at all and are still successful with her.

-- Her ambush attack is underrated at loops that aren't large ones. If you can break line of sight -- and even better if you can get into the pallet -- you can turn it into a no-win for the survivor if they hesitate and don't run immediately away. Here's a great example of how I'll land that type of hit:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKD_e1RxhYk&list=PLC2rL4BtEvpu37EzsT36X2SS3vL2Igksg&index=28&ab_channel=GeriatricGaming

You can also FAKE using her Ambush Attack as well, since her roar telegraphs it (something that it would be nice if that would be changed down the line). You can crouch and snort, faking that you're charging the Ambush Attack, then immediately pop back up after a survivor has run from what might have been a safe tile for them.

-- Her best add-ons are the Combat Straps, which are a common that reduce her crouch time, and either the Video Tape (an uncommon that reduces the time it takes to charge the Ambush Attack and the cooldown if you miss) or the Last Will (which gives you a 5th trap). If you're feeling particularly spicy, the Tampered Timer/Crate of Gears is deadly, if for no other reason than only the most experienced survivors will realize you're running it before someone dies (if they notice that you're putting the trap on them slightly quicker than normal). I've had survivors die to the TT simply because they got healed off of hook with an active trap and got pushed off of a box somewhere along the way. Her other add-ons are not really anything to write home about.

-- Speaking of traps, the best way to start a round is to get a down and a trap on a survivor's head before the 1st gen pops. If you can do that, you'll have immediate pressure on. While it might be tempting to chase after a trapped survivor, that's NOT the way to play her. The trap IS the pressure, not you chasing after the person who's trapped. RNG can sometimes be cruel -- it's frustrating to see everyone getting their traps off immediately -- but that's still time they have to do something OTHER than work on a gen, which gives you additional time to get the downs you need to win.

-- The exception to the above rule is when you come across someone on a Jigsaw box, it's always worth it to harass them off of it, even if you don't commit to chasing them. They lose all progress on the box, and if it chases them all the way to another box somewhere else, even better. If, while chasing someone, you run across someone searching a box who's injured, downing them and continuing your chase can provide a ton of pressure. Don't camp boxes -- not only is it a waste of time for you, but it's bad form to do so, and you'll just end up watching all the gens get done while you're doing so.

-- Finally, players are going to want to meme with you when you play The Pig. I honor every Boop of the Snoot by letting that person live -- I've even let whole teams farm who are willing to Boop out the gate -- but that's not a requirement. If you don't want to meme with your survivors, a quick attack will let them know you mean business, lol.

I'm not an "expert" by any measure, but I have played hundreds of rounds as her, and I've made it to Rank 1 playing the majority of matches as her. She can compete, even against very good survivors, and she's a lot of fun to play. My YT channel (the video clip above is on it -- the channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCODC_RYe0z8yDnIFlmW-TmA) has well over 100 matches on it if you'd like to see how many of my Pig matches go (just don't look at my earliest ones -- I've only been playing a year, and I still have a LOT to improve on, lol) . If you want to see somewhat occasionally competent Pig play, you'll have plenty to see there.

The best Pig player I know of is a player by the name of Scorpionz -- he has a whole Pig guide on his channel (here -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UOlX6azR3A&ab_channel=Scorpionz). While I don't follow everything he says to do, I think there's more than one way to play the Pig successfully, and I have learned a lot watching him (particularly about using the Ambush Attack successfully). If you want to play the Pig, it's a must to checki him out, as he's continually at Rank 1 playing her and playing her well.

Hope some of that helps -- and good luck playing The Pig! ๐Ÿ™‚

And clown can stop loops by slowing down. Is he unhealthy.

Nurse goes through walls is she unhealthy? (She is tbh)

Trapper can stop you by trapping windows and pallets rendering them unusable.

    i could go on

Don't give them any more ideas, lol.

  • @DoritoHead said:

If this is another post about how he can spam shocks around loops, I'll say once again that that's a placebo. Since you slow down while using Shock Therapy, you gain no distance unless you effectively deny a pallet or window.

This. Doctor's movement speed is 3.06 m/s when charging Shock Therapy, so anyone who's spamming it is wasting their time while a smart survivor will be finding a safer tile to utilize or pre-dropping a pallet. He's annoying to play against, but he's far from having no counterplay, and he's hardly in need of a nerf.

  • 4 Med-kits worry me more than anything else in a lobby now. It pretty much guarantees that it's harder to spread damage around without getting a down quickly, because those survivors are going to be back to full health almost instantly, even without a teammate nearby. Same as for someone getting unhooked. The additional health states 4 super-charged Med-kits can give survivors can alter how you choose to take chases altogether.

The toolboxes don't worry me as much. 4 flashlights mean that the team is planning to be super-altruistic (or maybe, super-trolly), and in either case, it's more likely to be to their detriment than help. Maps only worry me if I'm running a totem build -- if I see one in the lobby and am running Ruin/Undying or Devour, I'll probably switch the former to Pop/Corrupt and the latter to something different altogether.

  • When the people who are really, really good at a killer refuse to play with the add-on combo, you know it's broken. Iri + Infantry Belt was one of those combos, and it was one that people who play both sides largely agreed that needed to be changed. I faced a Huntress running that last night and got a reminder of it pretty quick.

The fix was somewhat uninspired -- I mean, they could have just done this a while back, or they could have changed it to something completely different instead -- but it will at least force a Huntress running Iri head now to be accurate with their throws to avoid constant reloading.

  • I might be in the minority here, but the large number of the Fengs I come across are NOT toxic, even the Bunny ones, so I wouldn't have her in that super-toxic tier, from my experiences. Jake neither -- it's rare I come across a toxic one, though both the Fengs and Jakes I see tend to be really good at the game. Since I play a lot of Meg, I'm probably biased, but I don't see many toxic Megs either.

On the other hand, I can count the non-toxic Lauries on one hand, and the ones that were, looked to be people trying to get Adept trophies who normally don't play her, lol. Same with Nancy -- almost every one I come across has a teabag ready for that shack pallet they drop in the first minute of the game. ๐Ÿคฃ

Claudette is way too low, as is Quentin. The Yuis I run across are mostly nice enough, and I may never have come across a toxic Kate -- they almost always are nice, as are the huge majority of the Janes (when I play Pig, those three always seem most willing to Boop the Snoot).

If the Dwight I'm facing is toxic, they're almost always really good.

All of this, obviously, personal experiences. Your mileage (as seen by the variety of replies) will vary.

  • The Silent Hill chapter was the 1st I was around for as an active player, and it was awesome. Descend Beyond was solid as well. The last two ... eh ... ๐Ÿ˜•

That said, I'm excited for the RE chapter and what it brings. If it matches SH's quality, I'll be very happy.

  • As a huge fan of the original Scooby Doo, I would honestly love some Scooby-inspired skins for some of the characters.

Put it this way, I had 10 max matches yesterday, and at least 8 of those were face camping ๐Ÿ˜‚ cant deny its definitely not exaggerated and is happening far too much.

Unfortunately unless the survivor is willing to take a spanking its difficult for that save. I went for a save infront of face camping Michael yesterday and I got sandbagged, left to slug and he went back after the unhooked survivor straight after... unlucky for that killer my unbreakable was active.. and he got really aggy at the end chat. Saying how unbreakable shouldn't be allowed as a perk ... bro it's not my problem if you take a chance of slugging someone with a possible unbreakable perk runner. ๐Ÿ˜‚ out the door we went !

So yeah it is happening more often than it should do. And this guy really isn't exaggerating.

8 out of 10 games with facecamping? Really?

I play 20-25 hours of survivor a week, and I don't think our group (ranging anywhere from a 2-person SWF to a full-on 4-person SWF) has had anythong close to 8 facecampers over the last two months combined, never mind in one day. You must be the unluckiest person in the world. Maybe.

Hookswarming is in your benifit. They are giving you free pressure.

Hook them in dead zones and just hit the unhooker. Avoid hitting the bt and boom free hook.

Besides the perk you want already exists and is called starstruck. They won't hookbomb if every survivor that attemps it is exposed

    This.

Starstruck keeps people away from the hook while you're putting a survivor there, and as this poster put it so well, it works to YOUR benefit. All these survivors at the hook means free hits, free injures (or additional downs/hooks), and no one working on the objective.

Also, STBFL is your friend. Enough stacks, and that's going to keep people hook bombing from even getting the person unhooked before going down themselves.

The post was inspired by this specific game where Adam got downed like 1minute into the game (the killer was bubba), Meg went for the unhook, got also hooked and they both dc'ed, leaving us with 5 gens left and two players alive. the game was basically over.

The people who DC'ed are as much of a problem as the camping killer was. Sorry you were stuck with terrible teammates.

You said the Meg went after an unhook -- if they did so with the Bubba even in the remote vicinity, that's completely on them for making a terrible play. If the Bubba was actually camping, they should have left and worked on generators. Punishing the killer for camping by executing a 3-person escape and causing them to get no BP/depip is the best way to "teach them a lesson".

Getting camped is no fun. I've played against campers numerous times. I sit and do my time on the hook, and in most of those matches, the killer ends up with no points and a depip while everyone else escapes. Occasionally, I or my teammates will try to rush the hook anyway and we all end up dead -- I'll acknowledge that's as much on us for going on a suicide mission as it is on the killer willing to oblige us.

This is a public forum, not a "killer's main" only forum. They can ban me if they wish but it would mean they only allow killer mains to post here.

You're right -- it's a public forum. People from both sides certainly have the "right" to have reasonable discussions about their game experiences, and how the game could be improved to help its growth and the experience for all players, no matter if they play one side exclusively or both sides equally, as I play.

Except, your posting at this point shows such unmitigated bias, it's borderline laughable. Discussing anything rational with you is akin to discussing science with a Flat Earther. Your bias is so ingrained, you're incapable of having a "reasonable" discussion at this point. You're tactily actually undermining the game with your posts, since your continued rhetoric about how "bad" it is (even if in your view, that only extends to one side of the equation) is actually a shadow bashing of the game and the people who develop and work on it. I mean, as terrible an experience as you continuously claim it is for 4/5 of the playerbase (actually more, since there usually seems to be a prepoderence of players on the survivor side normally), you're a constant noisemaker for why people shouldn't play the game. If your arguments actually had some substance or truth to them, or if you had credibility to talk about the real issues in the game, that would be one thing -- but you lost that a LONG time ago. You're a bait poster, nothing more at this point.

You obviously aren't dumb, and in real life you might be a nice enough person -- nothing about this is personal about you, BTW, but about what you add to a discussion -- but at this point, you're not adding anything to conversations here that might actually be meaningful and worth the developers (or other players) paying attention to, sadly. It's just become mindless noise on your part, and since you probably do have something worthwhile to say somewhere I'm sure, you do a disservice to yourself by making sure anything you MIGHT say that would carry weight gets lost amidst all of the continual nonsense.

ETA: Your words from your first post: "It's more embarassing for the devs that are so incompetent". As I said, you're bashing both the game and the developers by default on a continual basis. If I were them, I'd be less than happy with that.

  • At this point, the OP's posts have become borderline embarrassing in their utter lack of creativity, rational thinking, or even amusement factor. Some people actually come here to have reasonable discussion about topics that affect the game or to talk about fun things that happen to them while they're playing. The OP's posts are nothing more than bandwidth waste, taking up space on the front page when someone with something actually intelligent to say about the game could have their post residing there instead.

The OP's well-documented match against a well-known streamer, where they quit on their team after being downed ridiculously easily in the first 30-45 seconds of the match by a simple Hillbilly sprint at them, shows why they have ZERO credibility to discuss anything about the game at this point. I would hope that the constant bait posting would warrant some attention by the mods, since they add zero constructive substance to actually discussing the real issues that do crop up in the game itself, from both sides.

Whatever the OP's motives are with the continual bait, their rhetoric has gotten old, boring, and stale. Your horse has been dead for a long time already -- stop beating it, for the love of God.

  • Waiting for good perks to show up in the Shrine is a complete gamble, especially with SO many perks available now (and even more to come). BBQ & Chili, for example, has shown up once in the Shrine since the start of 2020, almost a year and a half.

If you don't own Leatherface and you're new to the game, buy him simply to get access to BBQ. The BP bonuses you'll get make the perk a must have to reduce the grind on any killer (or survivor) you want to level up. Running BBQ is almost a necessity every match when you play killer in the early stages to allow you to get perks you'll need, at least until you have more time in the game.

I would suggest Plague out of all of the other killers. Corrupt is a solid early-game slowdown perk to keep generators from going too fast, Infectious Fright is a great perk on many killers, and even Dark Devotion has its niche uses. Plague is an underrated killer as well -- difficult to play at times (her vomit can be erratic to use at times), but she's fun, and if you can master her, very good, at least against mid-rank survivors and below. Clown gets you Pop Goes The Weasel, which is also a key gen slowdown perk, and Bamboozle has its uses with certain killers as well (Myers and Leatherface in particular).

I definitely would NOT wait out the Shrine. You could be waiting a LONG time for the perks you need.

  • When I play killer, someone dropping their item (even if it's a brown toolbox) is a sign of respect/good sportsmanship. And not just at an open exit gate -- I'll give hatch or door to someone who's the last alive and dead to rights if they offer up their item as a tribute of sorts. When I play survivor, I've done the same and been granted mercy before, so there's no downside to it.

  • @latigresa said:

Killer is more stressful because most killers are try-hards that take everything personally.

Comments like these make me wish there was a "vote down" option on the forums.

I play 50/50. I enjoy both roles, but the "stress" (if you can use that term -- I try not to do anything if it causes me stress, and while killer is frustrating and more of a demanding role in the game to take, it doesn't cause me actual stress) comes from the dynamic of the 4 vs. 1. (If you're playing solo survivor, that's a different story).

My matches are all part of a 2,3, or 4-person SWF group, so I never feel like the game's result is on my shoulders alone. I have downtime to relax (just sitting on a gen while someone else is being chased), or someone to bail me out whenever I screw up. If we win as a group, there's a definite feeling of accomplishment, and when we lose, there's still a feeling of "We all went down together". If anyone from the group survives, it still feels like a "team win". It's more fun talking with people you know in-game and enjoying a group experience (and none of us play in a toxic manner, so there's that as well).

When I play killer, as others have said, it's just me. I'm fighting a battle against the clock knowing that every second I waste -- if it's taking the wrong chase, losing a survivor I've injured, etc. -- is potentially costing me map pressure and eventually the match itself. There's absolutely no time to relax (unless you've gotten the game snowballed in your favor to where getting a 3K or 4K is almost assured) -- you're constantly having to juggle defending gens, pressuring survivors, remembering who you've hooked and how many times, possibly defending totems, looking out for a possible key/hatch escape, watching for flashlights, etc. There's no mental break, which can make a 10-12 minute match much more telling on a person than playing survivor is. And of course, if you lose, there's only yourself to carry the weight. Losing as a team is a lot less demoralizing than losing as an individual. (And since I play on console and have messages turned off, I don't even want to get into the too-common poor sportsmanship that goes around in end-game chats).

Overall, I don't "stress" in either role, but playing killer is definitely more taxing to play.

What do you have in mind to rework Starstruck?

A Sluzzy fix to Starstruck would be something like this:

"After hooking your prey, you're blinded by how overpowered you are in comparison to your prey."

After hooking a survivor, Starstruck will blind you (as if you were blinded by a flashlight) for 30 seconds. All survivors within your Terror Radius will gain the Endurance status effect for 60 seconds. Starstruck has no cooldown.

I'm sure they would call that a "balanced" perk. ๐Ÿคฃ

  • Both are solid, but I prefer the Coxcombed Clapper. Using line of sight blockers to hide your approach and then using the Clapper should guarantee a hit, if not a gen grab.

If killer would be Lord Tony, there would be new topic from him:

"Flashlights so op. SWF using them. Killers cant fight against SWF and with flashlights that is nightmare."

Lol -- you're probably right. Followed by a Sluzzy post saying a match like this shows why Freddy is horribly OP. ๐Ÿคฃ

That said, somewhere in there I think I mentioned that I don't worry about flashlights in a lobby -- 4 med-kits, though, are a different story. Flashlights can be countered. I remember hearing OhTofu saying pretty much the same thing -- when you know everyone is racing for a flashlight save, no one is working on gens.

I'm going to have to agree, these games are actually so fun. You're almost never doing nothing, and they're trying to have fun even though they'll probably depip.

I wonder how they did pip wise, with all of the bold points they got for interacting with me. The Rank 1 definitely didn't depip -- I don't know if any of the Rank 2's were a Rank 1 beforehand or not.

  • @Northener1907 said:

I love matches like this one. Because they never tried escape or repair gens. They were trying meme builds and they knew gonna lose game. So i dont know why you were keep saying 0 gen done, noone doing gen. They never wanted do gen lol

To be fair, there's no way to know for certain if they intially planned to do gens or not. Right before I got my first down, there was definitely someone working on a gen (who missed a skill check when I was busting the breakable wall and was right outside). There was almost never a point in the match where I didn't have one, if not multiple people, downed, putting pressure on the whole team, so that wouldn't have been the ideal moment to work on a generator, lol.

If I had been a new killer who didn't want to be part of their meme game and had wandered off into a corner, would they have followed or just done their gens and left? Not sure, though at one point -- when I wondered aloud if someone was AFK -- looking back, that was someone locker spamming to try and get my attention, so I'm thinking that they would have been determined at some point to get the most out of their build, whether or not they had a killer willing to "play along".

  • @Clevite said:

These games are hit or miss for me. But if I notice that no one is doing Gennys, I play along. Try to have fun with it. If people are trying this and pounding the gennys, well then it can get a bit unfun. But, usually if no one is doing the gennys, then they are in it for the memes. But, I imagine, it would be less fun for a newer killer who hasn't learned how to counter these methods.

I will say, it's hard to tell "intent" sometimes. When I play The Pig (who is my killer of choice more often than not), it's usually pretty easy to see who's in it for the memes, since they'll be booing the snoot, lol. In this game, the first down I got prompted me to bait the flashlight save (which two people immediately rushed in for), and that was when the fun started. The first Head-On I ate wasn't a big deal, but once I realized multiple people were running it, I knew what their team build was, but without being able to talk with any of them afterwards, I still don't know how seriously they were trying to play it. They were working on gens, at least a little at the beginning, but they abandoned that once people started going down and it was a game of Whack-a-Mole at that point.

I've played against the flashlight groups, the sabo squads, etc., so I was at least prepared to somewhat handle it. I would have felt terrible for a yellow/green ranked killer who faced them, though. Would they have gotten their stuns in, had some fun, then let themselves die at the very end to a newbie killer, or would they have pounded out the gens at some point and teabagged at the exit? Hard to know, but it was pretty clear that they must run this build on a regular basis, because they were very good at communicating who to pick up, when to get into a locker and where, and how to get into the right spot for the flashlight saves when they needed to.

Again, it was a fun (if annoying at time, lol) match. If I run into this type of squad again, even though I got the 4K, I still learned some lessons on how to play it better the next time.

  • When I play survivor and the killer is AFK for almost the entirety of the match, I always assume NOED (and possibly Blood Warden) and play accordingly. I'll loot chests, break dull totems and hooks, and do whatever I can to pile up as much points before leaving. I MIGHT try to get into a "chase" for some bold points, but you can bet I'm not getting anywhere close enough to get hit, and if the killer even moves an inch, I am out of there. Once the gens are done, I'm opening a gate and LEAVING.

YouTube is filled with videos of "AFK" killers getting locker/vault spammed in front of them, teabagging survivors right in front of the killer, flashlight clicking, etc. after al of the gens are done -- and then getting downed to someone playing NOED and dying. If you had teammates that wanted to play dumb and stayed in to mess around with the killer, that's on them. In those situations, it's more than often than not someone who's deadset on getting their chance for some good old BM'ing, and they get what's coming to them.

I've never died to an AFK killer who tried that, but I've played with people who have. It wasn't my fault, and it definitely wasn't yours.

  • As someone who owns 9 (!) dogs myself, I completely empathize with the OP. Shame on that person for getting angry at you. Life is far more important than any video game, and that person who was so insensitive obviously has no clue about common sense or decency.

Glad that you dog is okay.

ETA: How I ended up with 9 dogs. As Ian Malcom said in Jurrassic Park, life found a way, lol.

  • Ruin is never a "bad" perk for any killer, but as others have already said, there are some killers who beneft from it more than others.

I run Ruin with almost every killer, even ones that don't have a lot of map mobility, simply because I think it potentially provides the most value to regress gens -- a must in so many matches. The exceptions are when I play Trapper or Hag -- both of those will be using enough time setting up their territory that Corrupt/Pop are better options than Ruin for them, IMO.

Exactly, the pallet bug is annoying as survivor but I doubt it will be long until it's fixed. But the sound bug is annoying as hell when playing killer and after years they still haven't fixed sounds in this game.

Yep -- the sound bugs have been going on forever (before I even started playing the game) and still haven't been addressed. It's infuriating at times, and can sometimes be game-changing when you lose a downed survivor, for example, because you simply can't find them due to the bugs and not being able to hear them.

When I play survivor, I have terrible timing on trying to pallet stun the killer -- with my gameplay, skills. I'll take the broken "Key in nearly every chest" current issue in exchange for the pallet bug all day, lol.

  • The Trapper desperately needs a Brown bag as base kit. Having to set a trap to pick up a trap without a bag is something that almost forces every loadout to feature a bag as part of it -- changing that would lead to much more freedom in experimenting with add-on combinations.

Also, having your traps not spawn all over the map, but in a closer radius to wherever you spawn would be a nice QOL fix. Nothing more disheartening than to see traps on the complete other side of the map that's huge (think Mother's Dwelling) and realize that you're never going to be wasting the time to go all the way over there to get them.

  • I have empathy for survivors who are being face-camped. I've been in that position before. I hold on to the bitter end to give my teammates every opportunity to get generators done and get out. When I'm playing as part of a 2 or 3 person group, it's harder to accomplish, but when I'm playing with a 4-person group, I'll gladly do my time on the hook while my 3 teammates escape and the killer depips.

People who suicide on hook for any reason don't get my sympathy -- I save the sympathy for their teammates. I've lost count of the near-escapes that ended in a 4K because the team was playing a 3 v. 1 the whole match after someone quit because of "reasons".

  • My biased opinion is The Pig, since I play more of her than anyone else.

As has been stated, she has her own innate slowdown mechanism in the RBT's. I've had plenty of games where the first couple of gens popped and then -- nothing -- as I applied pressure to untrapped survivors while their teammates frantically wasted time trying to get active traps off. That slowdown is invaluable.

The ability to get a kill as well with an RBT is also huge. I've had a match where I hooked someone for their death hook and had someone's RBT kill them somewhere across the map -- while someone like Bubba can down multiple people in one attack, only the Pig can get two people simultaneously dead through normal gameplay. When that happens (it's rare, but satisfying), it's completely a game-ender.

She doesn't have any particular power that's overbearing or OP, but she can be played multiple ways. Sometimes stealthy, sometimes aggressively, like using her Ambush attack in loops against a survivor. She's clearly no Nurse of Spirit, but I'm surprised more people don't play her (and some that do, play her incorrectly -- i.e., tunneling a survivor with an inactive trap while the rest of a team powers through getting multiple gens to pop at once).

I also think Wraith is currently underrated as well. He went from a low-tier killer to actually dangerous, even against good survivors, with the buff to his cloaked movement speed.

  • That makes sense. Your fun clearly matters more than that of your teammates. You are the only one who matters. Your fun is all that counts for anything. Will your teammates have fun when you put them at a horrible disadvantage in their match? It doesn't matter, at least, clearly not to you -- YOU get what YOU want, even if it punishes them in the process.

    Sheesh.

May I never have you as a teammate when I play survivor. I've lost count of the number of matches I and the people I play with have lost that might have gone differently if someone hadn't selfishly rage quit right in the beginning.

I never said it had to be redesigned, but something to fix that issue would be nice. Like maybe make it when the pig is within 24 meters the time stops. It could be less but that's my proposal. It happens maybe every 4 pig matches for me and everytime it is frustrating. So ya I guess I did have a bad experience with piggy

24 meters would be entirely too much. See my example above of someone with an "active" trap merrily working on a generator with the impunity of a paused timer while the Pig is chasing someone else who just happens to be in the general vicinity (or, in a SWF group, purposefully there). That's a recipe to make the Pig's trap ineffective as a slowdown, and it would be a huge nerf to her power. Less than that, and the timer might be running while the Pig IS actually following you, which would also be a problem.

One thing that's being ignored here is that, if the Pig is continually crouched and following you, they're moving at 3.6 m/s, slower than Nurse. If you're being followed by a continually crouching Pig, losing them shouldn't be a problem if you simply hold W. For them to stay with you, they're going to need to be upright, in which case it's a regular chase and the timer will pause.

It boils down to this: The Pig is like any other killer. If they want you specifically dead, they can camp, tunnel, etc. to make sure it happens. Instead of hooking someone repeatedly, if the Pig is blowing 2 minutes and 30 seconds to do that, they're throwing the match, unless the other survivors are ineffective. It sucks for the person taking the aggro, but it should end up a win for the team.

  • I think -- and if I'm wrong, someone please correct me -- the timer only pauses when the survivor is being chased or downed. Going into crouch and undetectable will make you lose chase (much as you get get stacks of PWYF with Wraith, let's say as an example, by cloaking).

The only issue is that, if a Pig player wants someone dead to a trap, they're probably going to make that happen, though that will likely result in them throwing the game.

The problem with the OP's request is simple. If things were magically changed to having the timer pause when The Pig is not showing being in chase with a trapped survivor, then the timer would ALWAYS be paused for trapped survivors for almost the entirety of a match, rendering the traps useless. If it were magically changed to pause when The Pig was in some proximity to a trapped survivor, then how would that work? If the distance was anything large (like a TR proximity, let's say), that would be completely unfair to a Pig who might be playing the game normally and happens upon survivors along the way who are trapped (imagine someone with an active trap that's paused happily working on a gen with immunity while The Pig is chasing someone else in the vicinity). If the distance was less -- let's say, 4 meters or so to prevent a Pig who's camping a box -- then that would actually be a BUFF to the timer, as the timer would actually be running during much of a normal chase, leading to Pigs who would then be able to actively chase after trapped survivors because it would be to their advantage with no real downsides.

It sounds like the OP had a bad Pig experience. While that isn't fun, it doesn't call for a complete rework of the trap mechanic.

  • Totem spawns need to be changed -- but not to make them easier to see. Even on reworked maps, they're often so much in the wide open, they might as well have a neon sign hanging above them saying "Break me now". Totems spawns like this one, for example:

    totem-spawn.jpg

Hex perks are already incredibly risky to run, due to the ease in which they're located on almost every map (Midwich, Glenvale, Hawkins, and Lery's being the few exceptions). They don't need to be made any easier to find -- rather, the opposite.

A new issue that we'll have now is when it's run in tandem with Starstruck - so survivors will be punished for someone else getting caught whether they are close to the Killer (Starstruck) or far away (BBQ).

I think the BP gain needs to be separated from the aura. The two combined make it too powerful, as in as a Killer, you have few reasons NOT to run it. When a perk is being run by the majority of the Killers the majority of the time, something's out of whack.

How is it an issue when it's run with Starstruck? Starstruck doesn't provide any aura readings, and unless you have a different tracking perk (Nurse's, Infectious Fright, Thrilling Tremors), BBQ isn't helping you get any downs with Starstruck. There's no synergy with the perk -- BBQ's range is 40 meters, so unless you're playing something like Doctor with add-ons, if you're showing up on BBQ, you're not going to be affected by Starstruck's exposed effect. If you don't show up on BBQ, you MIGHT be in the TR, but while the killer might guess that (which is just a guess, as survivors might all be outside the TR and be in a locker, hiding behind a gen, using Distortion, etc.), they'll have no way to know that unless they're running one of those other three tracking perks. And if the killer is running multiple racking perks (IF, TT, and BBQ to go with Starstruck, for example), they're at a huge risk of having gens fly by quickly and losing the match without having anything in their loadout for gen regression.

If Starstruck has synergy with any perk, it's TT and Infectious, not BBQ, since those perks with give you the info on people you can actually reach before the 30 seconds of Exposed status wears off -- and those 30 seconds go QUICK. Unless you're playing a high-mobility killer (like Nurse, who probably benefits the most from it), Startstruck is largely a perk that will give you more passive effects (survivors jumping off nearby gens to hide when they realize they're exposed) then it will actual visible effects, like a down on someone. It's a perk that looked like it could be very powerful at first, but the short time period of 30 seconds to down someone makes it very situational and not as useful, IMO, with the exception of just a few killers.

  • @SavouryRain said:

I don't care if they nerf it or not.

But I need the Killers to stop lying to themselves; a large fraction of them would still continue to run it without the bloodpoints.

Absolutely not. Thrilling Tremors is a far superior perk for information gathering that matters -- if I'm playing killer, seeing the Claudette self-caring in the corner a mile across the map from me is nowhere near as powerful info as seeing the generator to my near right is the only one not being blocked as I pick someone up. I run BBQ on a ton of killer builds, and I do so because the BP grind is insane. Take the BP's away, and Thrilling Tremors goes right into those builds.

When I play survivor, it's really easy to find out early whether the killer has BBQ or not. If they do, there's so many counters to it that, if you're dying to it, it's because you're choosing to ignore those counters.

  • First day of rank reset always seems to be a miserable experience, filled with people on both sides in ultra-sweaty mode. Will be playing survivor tonight, so we'll see how that goes.

Five killer games this morning, first three were as Pyramid Head, who I rarely play, but I wanted to get some work in with him for practice. First match saw the gens done so fast, I barely had time to get my bearings. Fun start to the day. The 2nd match, my power flickered (a bad storm was rolling through all morning) -- my TV reset, but my PS5 and internet somehow didn't -- I was stuck for almost a minute in a game looking at a black screen. I somehow pulled out a 3K after the last 3 survivors were heading for an open gate, all injured. Hit a ranged attack to down one in the door just before they could crawl out, and a Jake who'd been BM'ing all match tried to bodyblock and got downed as well (when I looked back at the whole match recording, while I was stuck still waiting for my TV to come back on, it turns out he was teabagging from atop some farm equipment, so that was some karmic justice to a typical DBD poor sport). Third PH match saw two people DC immediately after being downed/hooked, so I ended up letting the last two survivors farm.

Last two matches were a Wraith round where two people brought BPS and I had some survivor pudding -- ended up with over 100,000 BP in the match, and literally was carrrying downed survivors to the exit gates at the end. I was so happy to have a fun match, the safety pip was fine with me. Last match as Doctor saw more teabagging, clicky-clicky fun -- match was going okay enough until the storm knocked my power out and ended my game prematurely. That was definitely a sign to call it quits until later on.

So 1 out of 5 matches I actually had "fun" in (killing the teabagging Jake was more satisfaction -- the match itself was pure aggravation). Seems about right, the more I think about it, lol.
