I can't believe there is no mention of fixing Huntress hitboxes?! "Don’t panic: We have not changed The Huntress’ base kit".  Well, her basekit was beyond broken Devs. Play against her if you don't believe me. Impossible to dodge the hatchets.

It's still a good thing Iri-Head is finally nerfed. That's a celebration :) But the nerf isn't enough. The main issues with Freddy and Huntress are the gigantic and uncounterable hitboxes. Freddy wasn't nerfed enough, a killer shouldn't teleport directly to an objective using unfair perks like Tinkerer and BBQ. That's just broken. So the borrowed time change was actually good but why is the time being nerfed so much? A compensation for killers again? A compensation wasn't done with DS when it was slaughtered.  Lucky Break also nerfed for compensation. Soul Guard nerfed. OOO nerfed too of course. ZANSHIN TACTICS killer perk buffed. Demo being buffed. Way too killer biased in every update.

Actually rolling over laughing about your complaining about Zanshin Tactics, of all things. 🤣

The game could literally delete the killer role entirely and turn it into an actual Generator Simulator game, and you would still find a way to complain about it being killer-sided. Your trolling/inane thought processes are truly a marvel of the forum. Don't ever change. 👍️

Guess I made the wrong salt post. Though she got hits but couldn't tell if she gave up on them or they just got away.

It probably was a combination of both, if I had to guess. If they're new at playing that killer, it takes time to learn to track people based on sound while you're phasing. I don't have a lot of games with her, and I find myself coming out of phase and being out of position as often as I do coming out right on top of the survivor I was chasing. When I was first learning her, I almost never was in the right position to finish off someone I'd injured.

  • Did the killer hit someone on the hook repeatedly after hooking them?

Did the killer relentlessly chase one survivor the entire match, ignoring other targets entirely to focus on tunneling one survivor?

Outside of EGC/all gens being done, did the killer facecamp a survivor on hook?

Did the killer post anything rude or offensive in the post-game?

If the answer to all of those is no, I don't see a "toxic" killer there. I see a Spirit player who's probably new, considering that they don't have a single perk in play that's Tier 3. It's an Endgame build that clearly didn't work. The Mori, as people have pointed out, is essentially useless now, and they're running common add-ons. Only one "meta" perk (Tinkerer), and that's debatable depending on the rest of the build.

No build is "toxic". No killer people play is "toxic" by their existence in the game. There a few playstyles that are "toxic", but not nearly as many as people assign the word to them.

Considering how low their point totals are in comparison, this looks like a killer who barely landed any hits, never mind achieved any hooks, and probably was run around the entire match by the survivors.

You keep assuming I play killer, I don't. I haven't even touched killer in almost 3 months. I have close to 3k hours in the game and almost 2800 hours are mainly survivor. I joined this game because I loved the idea of sneaking around and thought it was originally a hide and seek game (If my name and avatar weren't enough clues, I prefer playing immersive). I knew nothing about looping until long after I started playing and saw a few videos on you tube.

And no, people are not back to disconnecting. I have seen less dcs and less suicides since the penalties were introduced. But hey, everyone is free to do so if they wish, I hope all the selfish people who don't care about abandoning their teammates continue to dc over and over so that in the future, their bans will be long enough that I'll no longer have to go against the killer with only 2 teammates at 5 gens.

Worse than the "2 teammates at 5 gens" is the "Someone DC'ed right off the bat, and my friend and I (along with a random) STILL managed to get nearly all or all of the gens done, but died in the end. I can't count the number of matches like that where my friend and I were saying after the game, "We all would have gotten out if our selfish 'teammate' hadn't quit right off of the bat", and some of those games were against a Spirit/Freddy/Nurse, etc. Games like that, the lack of the 4th survivor was always the difference between an easy win and a 4K for the killer. "Teammates" like those deserve every second of the DC ban they get.

So I'm a 50 year old mom. All the 'friends' that I make on DBD seem to be around 17. I feel ancient and a little bit weird hanging out with the teens 🤣🤣🤣

I'm your age, so don't feel alone, lol. 😁

  • When I first started playing killer, I usually played as Myers or The Doctor, and I did decently enough. I saw someone play the Pig on YouTube and liked the dynamic of the bear traps, so I gave her a try and haven't looked back. I started playing her and just found that I enjoyed the playstyle the most out of anyone on the roster. Being able to occasionally use stealth, the RBT's as slowdown (and occasionally for head pops), and of course, the meme of the Booping of the Snoot (which I always respect) make her a lot of fun. And her stun oink, as stated, is adorable, lol.

People sleep on her as an effective killer. For me, I struggle badly with Nurse, I've played Spirit but have been indifferent about her, and I can't use Oni effectively to save my life, so some of the "strongest" killers don't have the appeal to me like The Pig does. I definitely think she's better than she's given credit for being, with a built-in slow down and sneaky lethality with her traps -- she's not in the top-tier, but she's a solid middle-tier killer IMO, and definitely not low-tier if she's in the right hands. I made it to Rank 1 playing her the majority of my killer rounds, so she's definitely viable.

  • The OP has beaten this dead horse so much by now, it's a wonder they're not on a PETA most wanted list.

  • Told this story in a different thread before, but it's worth repeating.

I had streamed this match right when I started on Twitch, unfortunately before I learned how to export streams to YT -- I wish I had the recording still.

Playing as The Shape on a farm map -- I was still relatively new to the game, and on a Friday night, I was facing a full-on red rank 4-person SWF (despite being yellow rank at the time). It took forever to find someone, and I ended up in a fruitless chase with an Ace who was clearly WAY better than me. Now, I'd abandon the chase to go after someone else, but inexperienced me wouldn't give up on the Ace. Gens started popping, the Ace was teabagging and pointing at every pallet he dropped as he led me around the map. I had leveled up almost to Tier 3, but I couldn't do anything right. With one gen left, I had no downs, and I just gave up and parked myself by the exit near the killer shack. Another survivor, one of two Claudettes, joins the Ace in vault/locker spamming near me. Final gen pops, and I open the gate myself and just stand there, a sliver away from finally hitting Tier 3, but just ready for the match to end.

Even with the gates open, the Claudette and the Ace (who was injured) wouldn't leave, but kept teabagging away while the other Claudette and David were in the vicinity. At this point, I haven't moved for a good bit, other than to open the gate. The Ace walks right up to me and teabags again, assuming (I'm guessing) that I've just gone AFK at this point. Aggravated, I swing and actually down him. My guess now is that he had DS and someone on the team had BT (it's been long enough ago that I can't remember), so they likely assumed a rescue would be no problem, even with one of them headed to a hook, and that they all could BM me in the exit gates once they got Ace off the hook.

I carry the Ace as far into the map as I can to hook him, and I stay right there. I NEVER camp, but I'm making sure this Ace dies. Then, the Claudette who had been BM'ing with him tries to run in for the save. I pop my Tier 3 and down her on the vault by the Pig tree. I leave her slugged and wait. I see the other Claudette approaching from the side, go after her, and down her as well, now guarding the hooked Ace and the two slugs. I see David trying to run in for the unhook, cut him off, and then chase him down and flatten him just before my Tier 3 runs out. No one had Unbreakable, so I collected the slugs and got the last one hooked for the 4K just before the EGC finished. What should have been me getting stomped into the ground turned into the most satisfying 4K I might ever have, simply because winning easily and leaving wasn't enough for this group -- they had to try to add salt into the wound and be poor sport winners -- it ended up with them all dying, and I couldn't have been happier, lol.

Never mess around with an insta-down killer, no matter how bad you think they might be. You might find your whole team decimated in the process.

  • I probably have 500+ videos on my channel. I'm a potato machine, both as survivor and killer, at times -- as I said in a video explaining my channel, if you're looking for God-tier level gameplay ... it isn't the channel for you. I play to have fun, first and foremost, and I've been trying to get better along the way.

Not my most recent killer video, but arguably one of my best rounds I played as my main, The Pig:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8tZBdd1KQ8&list=PLC2rL4BtEvpviPeYvCfmo71lpNVCcEVIA&index=65&ab_channel=GeriatricGaming

And my most recent survivor video -- a match against a Nurse on Lery's with an exciting/nailbiting ending:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3t-qqbMiotE&t=3s&ab_channel=GeriatricGaming

And for comparison, my most recently uploaded killer round:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iou2W4_wmD0&list=UUODC_RYe0z8yDnIFlmW-TmA&ab_channel=GeriatricGaming

I actually have a series on my channel entitled "What went wrong?", in which I end up with less than stellar results and I try to analyze where I made crucial mistakes that cost me a win. Anyone who wants to view those and harshly critique my mistakes are welcome to do so. 😉

  • Earlier in this thread, I commented about the continuing exodus of people who play killer in the game and the long survivor wait times to get games.

THE problem facing the game isn't OP killers, irritating survivor perks like DH or the prior incarnation of DS (which despite the OP's claim, was not a healthy perk in its previous form), or any number of other issues people moan about here on a regular basis (i.e. NOED, the Haddonfield map, etc.). It's not even bugs, as much as those plague the game.

It's poor matchmaking, the gap in fun between playing survivor with your friends and killer alone (I'm enjoying the former far more than the latter these days myself), and what happens when there are simply too many people playing one side of the game than the other, and what that does to wait times to get into matches.

If that isn't addressed -- and across the board nerfing of all things one role or the other is NOT the answer -- then this game will slowly, subtly, be on the road to dying. Right now, despite how easy the OP wants to believe one role is over the other, the number of people playing that role is shrinking. Survivor wait times have only been getting worse, not better -- and as much survivor as I play, I see that on a continual basis.

If you want to see what ends up being the eventual death knell of DBD, it'll be when one side won't have an opponent to go against anymore. When that happens, bots or AI won't be the answer, and this game will end up dead.

I agree completely. This game is just not fun anymore. Killers tunnel like never before and escaping has become ridiculously hard when teammates dont do gens. The game seems to be balancing more and more towards 4 swf sweat squad which I think most survivors are not. Its just not enjoyable. Killers are not afraid to tunnel (thanks to ds nerf) and will tunnel someone out of the game instantly. Escaping for a survivor now seems impossible. Its also not balanced towards 2ks but 4ks. Killers complained enough. Playing killer for me is also boring because its too easy. Yes occasionally there are games where gens just fly but majority of times its easy games. Too easy. Probably explains why survivor queues are instant while killer you have to wait a few mins. Survivor is just not fun anymore. It all depends on how the killer plays if you pip or get bloodpoints.

Where are you playing that survivor games are instant but you have to wait for killer rounds?

There are constant threads on here about survivor lobbies taking forever. I play survivor multiple times a week, 5-6 hours a session, and NEVER have gotten an immediate game. Playing killer, however, is an instantaneous match, no matter what time of day or night. This is in NA, for what that's worth, and it's been that way for the whole year I've been playing (exception for the day of DLC release, since people are inevitably trying the new killer out).

  • As a (mostly) Pig main, I'll offer the following:

-- As others have said, don't overuse your crouch. You move so slowly with it, you can't use it to get across the map. When you're nearing a gen that has someone working on it, crouch while approaching from an angle you're hidden from them, then use the ambush attack.

-- Don't be afraid to use your traps early and often. They're meant to be a slowdown -- nothing worse than having traps left when the last gen pops. They'll do no good at that point, so use them while you can. A survivor who's trapped is one likely not working on a gen.

-- You likeky will need some gen regression in your loadout. One of Corrupt/Ruin/Pop should be in your build. As pointed out, Surveillance is actually pretty good on her, especially paired with Ruin. As far as add-ons go, the Combat Straps are arguably her best (reducing crouch time, and it's a common). The Video Tape (reduced Ambush charge time and cooldown when you miss) and the Last Will (extra RBT) are good to run as well. Looking for a Trap kill? Tampered Timer + Crate of Gears is deadly -- survivors won't know unless they're super perceptive, and if the key is in the last box, it's impossible to get a trap off.

-- Speaking of trapped survivors, don't chase them. If you run across someone on a box naturally, you down them, obviously, but chasing a survivor with a trap that isn't active is a recipe for losing gens and the match.

-- Using the ambush attack in chase is underrated and not used enough by Pig players to land hits on loops. Camping a pallet then dash attacking is awesome and worth practicing.

    https://youtu.be/YKD_e1RxhYk

As a Pig player who's reached Rank 1 before, hope some of this helps! 🙂

  • He's probably one of the survivors you were facing off against.

ETA: Assuming your story if accurate -- and that's taking a leap of faith -- you're facing off against brand new survivors. They won't have DS or BT or UB or DH because they're probably playing the base characters, and they won't have the BP or time in the game to have gotten those perks. I have a friend who's been trying to pick up the game -- she's Brown rank at survivor, and it's almost painful to watch her and her teammates play. Those matches end up in 4K's regualrly because even hitting basic skillchecks is a challenge for them (as it is for anyone just starting the game), not to mention other basics like hiding from the killer, knowing not to kobe when hooked, etc. Looping? Advanced strategies? Forget about all of that at those ranks (no offense intended to anyone new at the game -- we were all there once). If you run against someone who can do something other than run in a straight line against an outer wall, that's like spotting a unicorn or the Loch Ness Monster.

Yes, I know. I had 2 pips per game, so I expect to achieve red ranks soon

I anxiously await your video series on YouTube or Twitch where you're beating Red Rank survivors with ease in countless 4K after 4K, putting people like Otzdarva or Dowsey or others to shame, all the while preaching to us all how you were right all along, and everything killer is too OP and badly in need of a nerf.

I'm sure we'll see that about the time the check from the Nigerian Prince who emailed me shows up in my bank account. What a great day that will be! 🙄

  • @NVerde said:

I will try the locker trick - literally as I said EVERY killer I've seen lately is using it so I will assume they have it

The reason every killer is running it currently is likely due to the DLC -- everyone needs BP for leveling up their new survivor and killer (plus adding their perks onto the characters they actually do play), so BP are in demand, and nothing gets them faster than a round with BBQ.

The bloodweb is such a massive grind, running BBQ when playing killer (or WGLF as a survivor) almost becomes mandatory if you want to see any real progress.

  • Wait -- people are playing Trickster? 🤔 Played nearly 7 hours of survivor play two nights ago, and I saw one the entire time.

  • Six and a half hours of survivor play on Thursday, and about two and a half hours of killer play over those two days -- and someone had DS every game, often multiple people.

    I was just lucky, I guess. 🤔

I am glad you had good games but everyone are not lucky like you. Yesterday i played against one camper Trapper. I looped him for 4 gens and he started face camp me. And then in end game my teammate saved me but i down again because teammate had not BT. And i also not using DS anymore because it is useless. And i died for that. If DS would not change, i would keep it on my build and would escape. But now if i use this trash perk i will waste my one slot. And perk saying: Be useless for 1 minute. But i am teamplayer so i will not use this trash perk anymore, they need buff it.

Sorry if you were unlucky in your games.

Frankly, though, that Trapper match sounds exactly where DS would have been clutch. If you were rescued during EGC while a gate was open, even if the rescuer didn't have BT, that would have likely gotten you an escape. Killer downs you off hook, you hit DS when they pick you up, then run out -- at least in my experiences, that's how that scenario plays out nearly every time with very few exceptions.

Using DS to escape during EGC is one of the strongest uses of the perk there is. In many instances, hitting the skill check is almost a guaranteed escape for someone in that position. Unless you're a mile from the doors and/or have terrible teammates (the former is bad luck, and the latter is a teammate problem, not a perk problem), then DS is game-changing in that situation. I've gotten numerous escapes in that situation that frankly, I probably shouldn't have gotten and didn't deserve.

  • @Northener1907 said:

DS is trash, killer mains got what they wanted.

New target: Borrowed Time and Dead Hard. Because killer mains wanna easy killer, nerf all survivor advantages.

April's Fool's Day was yesterday, not today.

Played 7 hours of survivor rounds yesterday. Ran DS in most, but not every match. Didn't play in a single match where someone wasn't running DS, and almost every match, there were multiple.

Saw few tunneling killers -- no more than what a normal night of DBD brings. DS did exactly what it needed to do -- on the rare occasions when I was downed coming right off of the hook, DS gave me a second chance to get away, or the fear of it left me slugged, and someone was able to pick me up before the killer returned.

The only difference in playstyle I had was, after an unhook, I'd have my teammate heal me, rather than heal myself, and vice-versa if I did the rescue. Usually by the time I was healed and we moved to a safer location, most of the DS timer was gone anyway, so jumping onto a gen and deactivating it didn't matter -- under old DS, by the time the killer would get me in a chase under those circumstances anyway, my 60 seconds would have be gone anyway, so nothing changed.

I've played far less killer since the change, but still quite a few rounds, and I've yet to play a game without someone running DS, usually multiple players. I haven't noticed a difference in any of those survivors playstyles, but I do everything within reason to avoid the unhooked person, so that's not surprising to me.

The hysteria by some people over the change is unwarranted and pure hyperbole, but that's usually to be expected around here.

ETA: I would completely be I'm favor of healing yourself NOT deactivate DS, and the implementation of an Obsession in every match. If that happened, the new DS would work just like the old, minus the abuses.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2064713#Comment_2064713

It doesnt though. I've never seen a killer get hit by DS and stop tunneling. Why would they? Are they only realizing they were tunneling because they were hit by DS? No. They will continue to tunnel with or without DS. DS should make it harder to tunnel. It should activate off both hooks and hide scratch marks. Heck, give it a sprint burst effect to entice going for the unhooker. idk. As it stands, DS does not stop tunneling.

The OP's post reads "DS is trash perk NOW". How did DS before the change differ from DS now in the situation described above?

I run DS on all survivor buulds, and I will continue to do so. If I get legitimately tunnelled, the perk gives me a second chance at getting away, and I have been able to use that stun tme to get away, or to allow a teammate to take the aggro from me. Even when the killer has continued to come after me, I've been able to use the stun time to get to another a loop, extend the entire chase longer, and allow my team to get gens done. And I have used it to get out during the EGC more times than I count at this point. It's not trash and it hasn't been -- it's literally been the difference between my surviving (and sometimes my entire team) and not in numerous matches.

Cuz it dosent let you to do a LOT of things while in chase, so you will need to chose, play like an bot? or do the best option

I play 50/50 survivor, and I'm a 100% boosted Red Rank. When I'm getting chased, I'm usually ... running. And vaulting. Trying to loop. Dropping pallets. And more running. I can't do any of those things anymore? That's troubling if true.

Since when I'm actually being chased by the killer, those are the things I do -- what are the "LOT" of things that I can't do in a chase? Other than one-tapping a gen (which is a mechanic that shouldn't exist -- there should be required at least a couple of seconds of work on a gen to hault regression after a kick), what are you doing in a chase that I'm not that you now won't be able to do?

It can't be actually working on a gen, or breaking a totem, or rescuing someone off of a hook -- the first two, you can't do if you're actually in a legitimate chase (at least I can't, and even the Red Rank survivors I run across as killer aren't doing those things either if I'm running them around a loop or across a dead zone), and the last thing is just a terribly unsafe rescue, unless you're running BT and are willing to do a 1-1 trade-off with a hooked teammate (since, arguably, the best thing is to lead the killer away from your fellow hooked teammate, so someone else can pull them down, rather than risk half the team or more down and slugged). You can't be healing either -- unless you're popping a syringe, healing in a chase to full health even with a souped up med-kit means you're looping the killer pretty successfully, and if you're doing that well in chase, you're either going to lose the killer entirely, or that 60 seconds of DS protection will be long gone by the time you're eventually downed (which means your team should have gotten a TON of work done on gens -- which is literally how survivors win matches, by someone dragging the killer into drawn-out chases where they can't down someone and the rest of the team finishes gens).

So, while actually IN CHASE, what are all of these things you could do before you can't do now? As someone who legitmately needs to improve their survivor skills, I'd like to know.

  • Not sure where all the survivors not running DS are. I'm in Red Ranks, and every game as killer I've played yesterday and today, multiple survivors had the perk equipped (I only ate 1 because I go out of my way to not chase the person right off of the hook). But no one running it? Not in my matches.

I haven't played survivor since the change, but that will likely change tonight. I ran DS on every survivor build before the change, and I'll continue to do so. I rarely abused it (jumping right back on a gen or totem immediately after a rescue), and if I choose to do so now, I'll have to weigh the risk/reward. DS has saved me numerous times from actual tunneling and been the difference between me escaping or not -- why would I not keep running it? 🤔

Of course both sides are toxic but us survivors don't run in that killers precious hex ruin got nerfed or undying isn't Op anymore go through the pages and you'll see about 10 posts just on decisive and all have a very toxic title

The most ridiculous thing I see posted on this forum -- and there are plenty of things to choose from -- is when people post using phrases like "us survivors" or "us killers", or similarly phrased comments.

I play both sides pretty equally. I understand that some people prefer playing one element of the game over the other, and that's fine. There's nothing wrong with preferring one part of the gameplay over the other.

But the whole "us vs. them" mentality? Utter stupidity. For anyone who engages in it, you do realize that there isn't really a "them", right? It's ALL us -- we ALL play the same game, and without each side playing it, there IS NO GAME. Period. Unless you want to play bots, and you can ask the people who played the single-player mode in F13 how much fun that was.

Everyone, no matter what "role" you play, should be interested in a balanced, enjoyable experience for both sides -- because if you don't have that, there won't be a game for ANY of us to enjoy at some point, and all the nonsense of the "us vs. them" garbage won't matter. Any divisive BS -- and that's usually all it amounts to -- from anyone, no matter what part of the game you play -- only is shooting yourself in the foot by helping to shovel dirt onto the game you profess to enjoy. People should be better than that.

  • I'm assuming they're PC. You're right -- other console players would also show up with the icon. I usually go off of user names -- consoles (at least Sony) don't let you get as ... err ... creative ... as PC players are apparently allowed to be, lol.

  • At Red Rank as both Killer and Survivor, I see nothing but PC players (I'm on console). Immediate matches when I'm playing killer, with almost everyone in the lobby being on PC every match. As Survivor, the PC killers far outweigh the console ones. Just my own experience.

  • My friend and I, who usually play survivor as a 2-person SWF, recently added two new friends on some of our playing nights to play as a full 4-person SWF group. I won't even begin to talk about how much of an advantage that's been -- that's a whole other discussion -- but we have, in a number of matches, had one of us bring a key (or run Plunderer's, with someone using an offering to spawn extra chests) and someone else use a hatch offering for the killer shack (and often a map offering by one of us as well, to make sure we're not indoors or on Haddonfield).

The number of key escapes over this short period of time without all of the gens being done has been, frankly, beyond what I would have ever imagined (and as someone who plays a fair bit of killer, it would be infuriating if I were on the other end of things). We've gotten multiple 4-person escapes, but the 3-person escape has been the most common. In those matches, someone died, most if not all of the rest of us were on death hook, and finishing that last generator MIGHT have been possible in some of those games, but very unlikely in others -- but rather than even attempting the last gen, it's always been "Head to the hatch at the shack and we'll meet up there" for a pretty easy escape.

There have also been a couple of 2-person escapes with 3 gens done, and even one where one remaining person in our group re-opened the hatch in the EGC after it had been closed. In the few games we've run against Frankilin's, the keyholder has simply run to the killer shack and dropped the key outside the window to eliminate the killer's counterplay.

As fun as it's been for us as a group, I can imagine how frustrating it's been for the killers we've played against, and again, as someone who plays a lot of killer myself, I know how I'd feel going against that. The hatch, as a mechanism to force the game to a conclusion at its natural end, is fine -- I love the race to find it, from both sides, at the end of a game. But the hatch CAN be abused with the use of keys -- I never realized how much until the opportunity was presented to do so. As long as it's part of the gameplay, we'll continue to use it (we don't do so in every match, but I've either brought in a key or had someone in my direct party use one more in the past few weeks than I did in almost a year of play beforehand -- the threat of a Mori usually dissuaded that idea, but the nerf of that eliminated that one potential threat), but the change to its use, frankly, should be sooner rather than later.

Once you touch the gen and scream, you should be immediately headed off of that generator, looking around for someone headed your way -- and you should be headed for a safe tile you should have scoped out before you even got onto the generator to begin with. Even a camping Wraith will have to uncloak, which should give you time to head towards that safe tile, the same way you would if you were playing against a Myers who had just reached Tier 3 or a GF who's managed to stalk you fully while you're on the gen.

The Wraith can start uncloaking (silently, due to the add-on) before you touch the generator, while you are heading to it. If timed properly you will have minimal time to react to the scream and then you are downed. The problem is this specific situation, where you can't do anything except go down.

Intentionally creating such a situation is, as I already pointed out, a bad strategy for the Killer player, and also not common, but it can be done and it's not very fun for the Survivor players. That's the entire problem. The problem is almost certainly not big enough to warrant changes to either Wraith or Dragon's Grip, but it's still worth pointing out that.

While that might be something that can happen, and you can make the argument that it's not "fun", we'll have to respectfully disagree that whether that constitutes a "problem". It's not fun to have a Myers tier up on someone else on your team, pop Tier 3 on you, then instadown you either, but that's not a "problem", even if it's not fun for you as the player downed.

As someone who plays both sides regularly, there's plenty of things that aren't going to be "fun" for either side. I think people confuse "fun" with "fair" far too often. If the developers eliminated everything that wasn't "fun" for both survivors and killers, there wouldn't be a game left to play.

    1) You're somehow regularly facing the only ten people in the world who actually run the perk on a regular basis for all of your matches, and

It doesn't really matter how often it is used if it creates unfun / uncounterable situations when it does get used.

    2) You probably need to work on your survivor gameplay. Like ... a lot, lol.

Please explain what the counter against a Wraith with the silent uncloak add-on with Dragon's Grip is. You don't know that the generator you are going to repair has the effect of Dragon's Grip on it. You can't just ignore every regressing generator you come across, which is the only guaranteed way that you can avoid Dragon's Grip. Eventually you are going to touch a generator that has Dragon's Grip on it and then downed immediately by the killer who was uncloaking silently near the generator as soon as they saw you going to it.

Is it a terrible game plan for the killer to do this? Yes. Is it rare for this to happen? Also yes. But that doesn't really matter overall if it creates unfun situations for the Survivor players. OP is just pointing out that you can't really do much against this specific setup.

If you're playing against someone running Haunted Ground and being chased as the totem gets broken, you're going to be one-shot and there's about as much "counterplay" in that situation too -- is that perk OP and broken as well? 🙄

Dragon's Grip is only run in meme builds for a reason. If you know you're playing against a killer that's running it, you're going to have to be more cautious working on gens and looking for escape routes to safety if you get caught on one that's been affected. Someone on the team -- maybe you -- MIGHT be caught off guard once and downed, but after that, there's no excuse but carelessness if the killer manages to get another down with it. Since that won't be too often with a cooldown of 80 seconds at Tier 3, any killer that's spending time camping whatever gen they've kicked is going to have a short game while competent survivors will pound out gens across the map everywhere else and have an easy escape.

I play 20-25 hours of survivor a week, and I can count the number of times I've been downed by someone with Dragon's Grip on one hand with fingers left over, and I'm pretty sure that in all of those matches, DG was never a determining factor in the outcome of any of the literally hundreds of games I've played since the perk was released. While I'm a Red Rank survivor, I can promise you, I'm not that good -- it's the perk that is mediocre, and that's being kind. Of all of the things that people should be concerned with from a survivor standpoint, this niche perk with limited effectiveness is simply NOT one of them.

ETA: I almost forgot to mention the short 30 second activation period the perk has after kicking the generator to begin with. The idea that survivors have to ignore every regressing generator across the map because of this perk would be absurd. Largely, the only people who are going to be affected are people who jump right back onto a gen the second a killer has left after kicking it -- if you're coming across a gen regressing on the map somewhere, it's almost certain that the 30 seconds have elapsed and you won't be exposed (and the perk is probably on cooldown).

I'd be embarrassed for Sluzzy? Scratch that; I'm already embarrassed for Sluzzy. I cannot imagine moving through a day totally bereft of dignity and self-awareness. I mean there really are only two explanations, and neither of them shows Sluzzy in a good light:

    1. Sluzzy really thinks these things. A match is played and whatever thing stung Sluzzy on a given day suddenly becomes the worst thing ever! This would be hilarious if it wasn't also kind of pathetic and sad.
    2. Sluzzy is a Troll who just needs attention, i.e. good or bad doesn't matter. The posts are baits because Sluzzy can't get through a day without someone validating his/her existence. This is also pathetic and sad.

I honestly don't know which of these would be the worst way to think of Sluzzy. I suppose there could be a third option, which is too terrible to consider, that Sluzzy is BOTH of the above.

It could simply be a case of this:

    Untitled Image

  • If you're dying regularly to Dragon's Grip, then either:

    1) You're somehow regularly facing the only ten people in the world who actually run the perk on a regular basis for all of your matches, and

    2) You probably need to work on your survivor gameplay. Like ... a lot, lol.

Somewhat entertaining, as always -- though, at some point the OP is going to need to adapt and expand their range, lest these threads become tedious, lazy, and unimaginative. You don't want to become the Adam Sandler of thread content here, lol.

  • @valvarez4 said:

Now ds will be useless and you see it less times than MoM

I see your classes at the School of Sluzzy are going well. Once you pass Hyperbole 101, I hear Nonsense 202 is next on the curriculum, lol.

In all seriousness (if any of the OP's threads ever have serious discussion in them), of course DS is going to be run and run often. I run it every match and will continue to do so. It's saved me in numerous matches, and I'm sure it will in the future, since I don't abuse it. On the rare occasions I have (to break a Hex totem, finish a gen, etc., right after an unhook), I'll just have to weigh the risk ahead of time, and I have no problem with that. Neither will players who actually are thinking reasonably.

The only change I'd make upcoming (which should have been implemented already, this change notwithstanding) is to have an Obsession every match, Obsession perk in play or not.

  • Unbreakable is THE one perk that can absolutely turn a "This game is over" situation into a "This game is completely lost" one. But I wouldn't remove it, or even rework it, as it's still situational and, IMO, balanced because of that.

Object of Obsession, on the other hand, can go in its current state. I've seen it abused too many times in ways the devs probably didn't foresee when they introduced it (mainly with SWF groups). I watched a 3 man SWF, one of which was running OOO, sandbag their solo teammate with the perk. The Object user basically shadowed the solo, and OOO kept leading me to them, while the Object user managed to stealth away, using the solo player as "bait" for me to chase while the SWF group went about their business -- they did it so well, at one point, I thought I was facing TWO OOO users, and didn't realize what had happened until the match was over. It's the most toxic thing I've ever seen a SWF group do, honestly.

From a survivor's point of view, I wouldn't remove any killer perk either.

But if you have ds at the start of the match and you spawned next to a gen and repair it does ds turn off?

No. DS only activates after you're unhooked.

  • When I play killer, it's situational.

If I know the last survivor is right there, within view, I'll likely slug. Even so, I've done so sometimes because I want to give that 3rd survivor the hatch, so it's not always for the 4K.

If the group has been particularly toxic, then I'm more prone to leaving the 3rd survivor down to look a little harder for their last teammate.

Most of the time, I'll just hook the 3rd survivor and let things play out. I give a fair number of hatches/doors, so the difference between a 3K and a 4K isn't really a big deal.

Also, I've heard alot about the perk Spine Chill. I used it once but it didn't really help me. But I probably didn't know what I was doing either lol

Spine Chill is definitely worth running, especially as a newer player. It alerts you when the killer is looking in your direction -- when it stays lit up, it's likely you have company headed your way. It's a huge defense against stealth killers, particularly Myers and Ghostface.

  • Played about 5 hours of survivor as part of a 2-person SWF tonight, played 4 killer rounds prior to that. My experience:

-- The survivor rounds felt almost unfair at times. My friend and I normally do pretty good (we were both Red Rank coming into the night) -- there's nights we get creamed, and other nights we have high escape rates. Tonight was a high escape night. Most of our matches had two things in common -- two teammates who were clearly a lot more inexperienced then we were (not just in rank, but in the way they played), and killers who seemed completely overmatched. I'm not a great looper by any stretch of the imagination, but I was able to loop a few killers better and more consistently than I have ever done before. There were multiple matches where I escaped without being downed, and that's not common at all for me. I pipped up almost two full ranks tonight (barely a Rank 4 to start to almost Rank 2 now). There WERE a few matches where we faced off against killers who were much tougher -- in those, we tended to have teammates who were capable, and those matches it seemed like MMR was working the way it was intended.

-- The killer rounds ... errr ... were a different story. I'm been a Rank 1 killer (currently Red Rank), but I'm nowhere near as good as that would suggest. But I am definitely more than competent, and I've consistently done well more often than not playing killer. Playing The Pig -- who I'm the best with -- I ended up at Pallet City (The Game) and ran up against survivors who ... ran away from pallets into dead zones to get downed. Ended up with a 4K, even though I was a little rusty playing killer and played like a potato myself at times. 2nd match as The Trapper, who I play occasionally and am decent with, I ended with a 3K -- the survivors made a horrible blunder at the end, or else they probably could have all escaped. The ranks suggested inexperience, and it showed at the finale. 3rd match as The Plague, who I almost never play. Survivors seemed equally inexperienced, but they still seemed to be a skill level below me -- I ended up with a easy 4K, and probably the easiest match I've ever had as her. 4th match was as The Doctor, who I'm more than decent with. Survivors sent me to Hawkins (which didn't help them), and it was a slaughter. Another 4K against survivors who seemed to be in over their heads. Again, small sample size here, but the match with The Plague was the only one that felt close to what MMR should be doing, and even that match seemed to be unbalanced -- the other three, I definitely felt like the matches were FAR easier than what I'm used to facing.

Again, my brief experiences only, for reference.

Honestly I try not to give up but I’m still encountering matches where I don’t even manage to hook anyone and I get down to two gens. I just give up after that. If I haven’t even downed or hooked anyone by the time they get down to two gens I don’t really see a point in continuing the match. Just move on to the next one. I just don’t really have it in me to continue.

To repeat what others have said, don't give up. Even when it looks hopeless, you CAN make a comeback, if you play well enough, if you catch a lucky break, or if the survivors make a mistake.

I just reached Rank 1 for the first time, and I still have a lot to improve at and get better with. I play mostly Piggie, with occasional lower-tier killers (Wraith, Trapper) mixed in with mid-tier killers (GF, Doctor) and occasional top-end ones (Freddy, Spirit). When I play Pig, I have a LOT of matches that I start very slowly, and seeing multiple gens pop early happens more than I like it to.

Some of those matches, I'm a victim of map, or a well-coordinated team, or terrible play on my part (or sometimes, all of the above). Some of those matches I get completely wrecked, and I'm lucky to get my four stacks of BBQ. But many others I'm able to pull out a 3K or 4K because, as cliched as it sounds, it's never over until it's over.

A lot of people have given you good advice as to how to improve your overall strategy or gameplay or builds, and there's a lot of sound words in here. All I can add is that is does eventually get better the more hours you put into it. Every loss can be an opportunity to improve on something that helps you to make the next match a win. But remember to try and enjoy yourself first and foremost and remember that it's just a game -- focus on what you are doing well and try to stay positive (as hard as it probably feels to do, I know).

  • I went from Rank 1 to Rank 5 this reset, so it didn't affect me.

  • Just played a match where an Ash, who'd been relentlessly teabagging me at every pallet he could all game, DCed on death hook when I caught him at the open exit gate just before he would have gotten out. The little extra time I saved then allowed me to get another injured survivor down JUST before THEY could get out at the same gate, snagging me two kills instead of just one. Love it when a sore loser like that helps the killer by dragging someone else down with them. 🙄

  • Faced off against an Iri Head/Infantry belt Huntress running NOED and proxy camping hooks tonight. They were not a well-ranked Huntress and it showed -- they landed maybe one or two hatchets the whole game. We were a 4-person SWF (one Red Rank, 2 Rank 5's, and a relatively new player joining us who was yellow rank) -- we ended up with a pretty easy four person escape (and even as a Red Rank survivor before reset, I'm just not that good and likely boosted, so it's not like I'm some God-tier survivor by any stretch of the imagination). If that had been a skilled Huntress, it would have been a different story (because Iri Head is problematic with the Belt), but you still need skill to be successful with her, clearly.

So yeah, Huntress is completely OP and unbalanced, obviously, lol. File that thinking right alongside the Flat Earth theory as about as credible. 🤣

  • I stream survivor rounds on Twitch, and record killer rounds for YouTube. I don't have anything indicating either (like a TTV in my name).

I don't play "toxic" if at all possible from either perspective. When my team gets wrecked by a killer and I see they have TTV in their name, I usually head to their stream to give them a follow (if they played non-toxic, which has been pretty much 95%+ of my interactions) and compliment them on their play. I've had nothing but good interaction with those people I've run against, so I haven't minded being part of their content at all. Being able to check out how I played afterwards has also been instructive in my getting better.

As killer recording for YT, I've messaged many a player after the game to give them a GG (I'm on console) -- I've met a lot of really nice people that way (many of which I now play SWF with as well), and when I've told them they're part of a YT video, to a person they've always been excited to see the match from my point of view. On the occasions I've run into a streamer playing survivor, I've gone afterwards to compliment them as well when warranted, and again, I've pretty much had nothing but positive interactions with people I've played against, so I have no issues with being a part of someone's stream.

I've only had one bad experience -- a TTV player who was a fellow survivor and who rage quit less than a minute into the match since we were facing a Spirit. As tempting as it was to head to their stream to thank them for hanging the rest of us out to dry, I just let it pass. I'm not saying there aren't ill-mannered people out there who stream and are bad individuals, but I've been fortunate not to run across them.

My biggest regret was that I played against the Ohmwrecker once in a match, the biggest name content creator I've ever faced in either capacity (I was The Pig -- he booped the snoot and I let him live when he was on death hook). He was streaming, not on Twitch, but on Caffeine instead, and I wasn't able to see the match from his end. I would have loved to hear what he was thinking/saying during it.

  • Lol. More classic OP "killer bad" nonsense. Good for a Sunday laugh. 🤣 I'm actually awaiting the sequels "Trapper OP because traps" and "Demigorgon uncounterable because it's so big and scary" threads, coming soon. 🤔

I love playing against a Huntress, especially if they're good. The players who've put the time in to mastering them are seriously scary and a real fun challenge to face, while newer Huntress players will likely get wrecked by competent survivors. Even good Huntress players will lose since ducking behind objects or breaking line of sight counters their main attack, then she's clearly beatable. Unless you're prone to DCing/quitting on hook after being downed in the first 30 seconds of a match, of course -- then every killer is going to look OP. 🤔

  • My two favorite content creators are Otz and OhTofu. I like Otz for a number of reasons -- he can play very intense matches, but at the end, he's still a good sport and tried to maintain a positive attitude about the game and the people who play it. He's incredibly knowledgeable, and the amount of work he's put into his instructional videos shows an amazing amount of dedication to both the game and to helping other people trying to learn it -- if you've sat through the 8 hour (I think) video that goes through EVERY killer add-on and their uses, you'd see how in-depth he can go, and how much you can learn that you didn't know before. His sense of humor is dry and reserved, but I enjoy it. And almost every match I watch him play, I see something I can learn from to be a better player.

I like OhTofu for much of the same reasons -- he's more chill during his matches and has a different style of humor (which I also like) -- but much of what you can say about Otz applies to him as well. I think in both cases you can tell they each just love playing the game, and there definitely are DBD content creators I've watched who seem like playing the game is a chore for them -- that's not so much fun to watch.

So you clearly know that most survivors won't gen rush when one is camped...

    Was that replying to me?

Once survivors know someone is being camped, they absolutely will rush the gens if they're playing smart. That's how you escape. I play survivor as part of a 2, occasionally a 3 person SWF. If we know someone is being camped, we do gens. Matches we do that are usually 3-person escapes. When people rush the hook against a camper (especially without BT), that's when everyone usually dies.

When I play survivor and get camped, it sucks, but I do my time on the hook to help everyone get out. I would love to see Kindred base kit to help solo players in that regard, as they're the ones who need that info the most.

You guys all speak as if i didn't know that. But it's a team of 4 survivors, and most won't gen rush, even in red ranks.

ATM, red ranks survivors are terrible, they don't know how to play, they don't know the timings, they don't know how to flashlight/pallet saves, they fail skill checks too often and they unhook you in front of the killer without BT.

Play one month exclusively soloQ/duoQ and enjoy the games you will get...

Where can I find those Red Rank survivors, lol? All the groups I've been going against lately are blowing through gens so fast, I barely have time to get my bearings. My last match was against a 3-person SWF with an OOO that powered through 4 gens in under 4 minutes, despite my getting multiple hooks in that time (and they had no toolboxes or PT either). I'd gladly take the Red Ranks you're talking about over those types. (Though that SWF left the poor solo player die on one hook at the end of the game after I had Devour reach three stacks, making no attempt at all to rescue, even though I was nowhere near the hook, one of them had Kindred to know that, and one had DS to possibly protect themselves -- so that's the unfortunate life of a solo player in a nutshell, I imagine).

On topic: so we should get rid of bitter murmur then?

By the OP's absurd logic, I'm sure they'd agree. I mean, BBQ actually does something for the killer when the killer advances their objective and hooks someone -- Bitter Murmur rewards the killer for the SURVIVORS advancing their objective. That's even worse and more unfair/OP, lol! 🤣

No. Just no. Whatever you are on please send me some. No killer is using is for aura reading and if they are they are foolish because there are at least 3 better perks for this - Whispers, Nurses, Infectious are all better at finding survivors than BBQ. I can't wait for all my killers to be P3 here shortly to take BBQ out of my build to put something better in and by better at least 10-15 perks I would rather run. So again. NO

I run BBQ on almost all of my killers, and it's pretty much for BP primarily. I run it on The Pig, who I play the most, and after a hook, this is how things play out:

    1) I don't see anyone on BBQ. Are the other survivors in lockers or close by? Who knows? But I'm not getting any help.

    2) I see someone way across the map, but I know other survivors are closer (either lurking for a save, or working on a nearby gen), so I ignore the person I see with the aura reading, making that knowledge useless.

    3) I see someone on BBQ and I head in their direction. If they were moving, they've probably changed direction as my terror radius alerts them I'm coming, so I might be going on a wild goose chase in the wrong direction and end up wasting precious time. If they were stationary, then they're either going to hide or start moving away when they hear me coming. In either case, it's as likely that I end up wasting my time as I do actually finding someone. And of course, finding someone and actually running them down and hooking them are two different things, as the latter is nowhere near a guarantee.

    4) I see multiple people on BBQ. So, all of the above applies, except even knowing someone is somewhere, I'm still might not be heading in their direction, as I have multiple potential targets, so BBQ is zero threat to them.

If I wasn't burning through BP at an astounding rate on survivors and killers who have monstrous bloodwebs filled with useless stuff at Level 50 on everyone, there are numerous perks that I'd be running instead. Sloppy Butcher for one. Thrilling Tremors (which gives even more important location info on survivors AND blocks gens, making it arguably a more powerful perk, or certainly an underrated one) is another. Or any of the ones you suggested as well.

Like what? There's only two things distortion(has 3 tokens and perks gone) or hide in a locker and most killers run iron maiden

Lol. Iron Maiden MIGHT be run by a Huntress, and as pointed out, people going for Legion adept. The only other killers running it either have no idea what they're doing anyway and are new enough to not know how useless the perk generally is, or they don't have any other perks available to them.

And there's well more than two counters, as so many people have pointed out. Other than jumping into a locker, hiding behind a generator is easily the simplest one. Or changing direction after a few seconds of movement. Or just existing inside of BBQ's range. Even if the killer has a general idea of where someone MIGHT have been when hooking, by the time they traverse the map there's no guarantee that the survivor will even still be anywhere close to that spot when they get there, and even if they are, they can -- you know -- run and lose the killer a chase, or even -- gasp! -- hide.

As I said in one of the OP's other threads complaining about BBQ, I'm a Red Rank survivor that doesn't belong at that rank, because I'm a decent survivor and not nearly as good as my rank suggests. When I lose, it's because I can't loop well enough, or I do something stupid -- but I'm definitely NOT losing because of BBQ, because even I know how to easily work around it. If BBQ is something you can't handle, then you're worse at this game than I am -- and at my level of play, that's saying something, lol.
