  • The only thing better is that the menus are smoother to scroll through on Switch.

Everything else is worse. Navigation, appearance, it's all worse.

  • They're probably actively ignoring all feedback to focus on the Castlevania chapter now. BHVR tends to drop a rework then ditch the character for two or three years.

It really does not take much to fight back against a killer, even if the Entity doesn't want you to. We've seen, in the lore itself, people actively go against the Entity while in the realm. There was no "bargain with the Entity" in the case of Vecna, his entire lore page is about him deciding to go along with being taken so he could take the Entity's power for himself.

Let's be real, the lore does not support the idea that the Entity is an all knowing, all powerful deity - all it does is support is that people can't leave its realm. Every backstory, and yes, I've read the lore - it's my favorite part of any game - does not mention people being "reconstructed from scratch," they're simply taken and killed, over and over again. In fact, in the lore, it's stated that survivors can attack each other, like when they drowned one of their fellow survivors in mud just because he wouldn't stop screaming. If they can attack each other, they can fight back against the killers.

The only reason we can't is for gameplay reasons and gameplay reasons only. There is nothing in the lore to support that survivors couldn't fight back.

The Entity is extremely powerful, but I would hardly call it smart. It's like a child collecting toys and smacking them together. "Almighty idiot" is a phrase that comes to mind.

  • OP is using playtime from a week ago to excuse a bug that was added yesterday.

  • Trying to flashlight the killer at the exit gates is as toxic as teabagging, and a lot more common. People are just rude like that.

That's what happens when you decide to use a cosmic entity as your main villain. 99% of writers who use cosmic villains don't really have a rule set for their abilities, they just decide "Well, it's a cosmic horror, it do whatever I want because humans don't comprehend its full power". Frankly, that's a lazy way to write.

The real question, however, is how we're expected to believe that many of the crossover survivors wouldn't be fighting back, and winning, against the killers. Like, the Resident Evil gang, for example, handle far worse than Nemesis and Wesker every game, yet I'm supposed to be believe, even without a weapon, they would lose to a K-Pop singer or guy with a machete? C'mon. I know it's a case of suspending your belief, and for a game where survivors are just cosmetics, it's not that big a deal, but in the context of the story, it doesn't make any sense.

I have never taken DbD's lore seriously, at least as far as The Entity is concerned. The whole thing about trials and loops and interdimensional demons… I always thought it was silly and unnecessary. It's the individual characters who are the interesting pieces of writing (usually).

But yes, "Because the Entity says so" is the shorthand explanation for anything and everything in this game, including why these action hero survivors can't even throw a punch against a bunch of edgy teenagers.

The only male survivor cosmetics people care about are Dweet and Silver Daddy, though I feel like if there were quality cosmetics for males in the first place, this would change. Give me stripper pole Jeff god damn it! Work that dad bod, you bearded stallion!

But Vittorio is in this Rift, and he was skipped over.

Personally I'm still mad that Jeff and Adam don't have their own Tomes at all while Yui and Spirit are receiving a double-dip.

  • I prefer too easy over too frustrating.

  • I really don't like these cosmetics. I'd expect these from Fortnite, or Overwatch, or League of Legends. Not Dead by Daylight. Vittorio's is nice, Clown's is fine. All the others, no, especially Yui's and Elodie's. I never wanted to see Yui turn into a low-budget anime character.

  • Maybe if they hadn't taken away every other playstyle he had, we wouldn't be here.

I would be fine with this, issue is that's not how they made boons to work. Boons don't have any personal bonus.

Actually, that's not true anymore. Illumination grants the user, and only the user, bonus speed to cleansing and blessing totems while Illumination is active.

  • Vittorio finally got another medieval (or close enough) outfit and it looks good. The recolor outfits are alright. Including Iridescent Shards is a welcomed idea, and adding 10 pages of bloodpoints at the end of the Deep Rift is nice too. But most of the original outfits are really tacky and goofy-looking. Sable and Elodie are wearing Halloween costumes and David looks like he was marooned on an island.

It's interesting to see that they're mix-and-matching various outfits together to create new recolor outfits, so it's not just palette swaps. They should keep it up, it's a decent idea.

  • I would appreciate if BHVR said how they think Knight should be played, because it seems like they don't want him to be played at all anymore.

  • Being able to summon a new guard to replace a currently patrolling guard was a bug, and it was patched out.

Never mind that survivors breaking guard AI with fake vaults was a bug, but was kept in as a "feature".

  • They feel like something I'd see in Fortnite.

  • He's even more ruined than he was on PTB, that's impressive.

  • They have to guarantee that we have the worst possible experience, because that's all us Switch players ever get.

Yeah I've heard nothing but good about them, and like I said, I know they're pretty historically important to gaming as a whole. But I just haven't gotten a chance I guess.

If you can only play a single one, play Symphony of the Night for the Playstation 1, as it has had the most impact on gaming by refining the genre of "open-world platforming action-adventure game with character progression" games, and did it so well that now everyone calls them "Metroidvanias" because Metroid and Castlevania did them best and defined them.

This has led to the original Castlevania games, which were linear action platformers, to be mostly overlooked, but they're still solid games themselves.

Have people also being noticing its harder to hit basic M1s now than before? Or am I going crazy?

I've felt it too. Every update, scratch marks get worse and M1 attacks get wonkier.

  • Knight is a dead killer now. Better move on to someone BHVR likes more, like Skull Merchant.

  • I don't see the logic in completely denying yourself all possible bonus points.

  • A mechanic in his game was that he could hide himself from the other teddy bears by holding a big leaf in front of his face as camouflage.

  • There are a number of killers I don't enjoy playing as, but the top 3 would be Nurse, Twins, and Trickster.

  • I think it's gotten better, but the biggest problems of survivor are other survivors and BHVR can't do anything about that, so things don't change that radically. Still, at least slowdowns are nerfed, and we have gen regression limits now, that's nice.

  • Jeff, Adam, Zarina are my top 3. On the side, it's Ace, Felix, Gabriel, and Alan Wake.

Asymmetrical means competitive play against a role that is different to the other.

No Asymmetrical game boasts what side wins and is more fun to play when they advertise to markets. They boast what each role can accomplish in their own respective form.

If they did that then everyone would play the power role and not the underdog. That's human nature.

BhVR deciding 60% killrate nearly what 4 years into their game is absurd. Choosing to make one side inherently stronger to chase a horror theme is shortsighted.

TLDR: Power Role is just a moniker/title. It's not an excuse to give bad players easy wins.

absurd. Choosing to make one side inherently stronger to chase a horror

This is a hilarious thing to say about a game that's been going strong for 8 years in spite of all its flaws, passionately supported by thousands upon thousands of dedicated horror fans.

    Accidentally A Warcrime

iirc an accident during war isn't considered to be the same as committing a war crime since ######### happens during war sometimes and that it needs to be intentionally done first before it becomes one.

It's not like Jonah did it himself anyway, he's just a data guy, someone else ordered the bombing.

  • The UVX is some kind of psychedelic toxin and it seems too much of it can cause serious injury. By focusing on The Unknown, the survivor is able to resist the effects of the toxin, probably by focusing on what is real instead of what is a hallucination, grounding themselves back to reality.

  • I just like to break totems and open chests for points, and to hopefully escape with a new item.

I don't even know what people's problem with Merchant even is? I mean I do it's just not anything unique to her.

People complain about the hinder but clown does that and we don't have 9,000 clown threads.

Is it the drones injure people? We have a billion anti loop killers seems weird to hate on specifically this one.

Is it you have to crouch over to gens? Hag says hi.

I guess you could argue it's all of these but like even with all this she's only B tier.

She's just really tedious to play against. Even if you're winning, I don't see much fun in it.

The arguments of 'it takes two perk slots' and 'it only works in combo with one other perk' are completely disingenuous and irrelevant here.

Those same arguments applied to buckle up and background player and those perks were nerfed because the synergy was considered too strong. Background player is literally useless unless you combo it with something.

BGP is far from useless. Even without a flashlight or toolbox, it's also good for pallet saves.

  • It's a toss-up between Feng Min and Mikaela Reid. I don't like either of their aesthetics or their backstories, and they're constantly getting cosmetics over other characters, and most of those cosmetics don't even look good to me.

Sable is like Mikaela but she goes so much further with her mystical hipster goth girl gimmick that it loops around to hilarious and endearing to me. She's lame, but in a funny way, and that makes me like her more than Mikaela. If she gets a Tome, I hope it doubles down and makes her even cornier.

  • Nothing made the event worse than listening to the annoying pixie making unfunny wisecracks while me and my team were getting stomped. Please no more of her.

  • Horrible that they removed the most important part of the Singularity update. But I'm sure all 5 Singularity mains on PC can be happy they've successfully ensured other people will continue not playing their character.

  • Personally I'd just buff its current effects to be better, and add one or two more.

    While injured, Pharmacy activates:

    • Chest opening speed increases by +100%
    • Chest opening is silent
    • Opening a chest guarantees a yellow-rarity medkit
    • Self-healing medkit speed increases by +33%
    • Self-healing medkit efficiency increases by +33%
    • Highlights auras of all medkits on the map
  • The Dredge, The Singularity, and The Unknown are BHVR's most inspired original designs. Also a fan of Deathslinger, though I think his design would have been better if they'd made him an undead cowboy.

Worst are Skull Merchant and Trickster.

  • I got dozens of cakes across all my favorite survivors so I feel pretty alright.

That was the original skull merchant before she got reworked but she was so bad

One reason it was so bad was they also tied an Exposed effect to the drones, which required counterplaying the drones, but they made counterplaying the drones very ineffective. It still is ineffective.

  • I want to see Skull Merchant reworked to focus on her being a stealthy tracker. You don't know where she is, but she knows where you are. But making that work with the drone concept is going to be difficult. Maybe if it was like a radar ping system where she could ping to find survivors in her drones' areas but the ping had a cooldown? I'm afraid I don't have many good ideas on how to improve her.

There is no such things as "too much information", knowing where and when is good enough even if you can't immediately reach it

I disagree, there is such a thing as too much information. If Spies was mapwide, I'd be constantly getting notifications all over the place and I'd be able to act on very few, it would be more distracting or disorienting than helpful.

If a survivor equips an anti-tunnel perk like DS, and isn’t getting tunneled, then many of them like to weaponize the perk against the killer so they “don’t waste the perk”.

And that’s the problem with many of the anti-tunnel perks.

Players in general are too prone to going out of their way to get "value" out of their perks. Perks are there to serve you, not the other way around. If you can win without using any of your perks, go ahead and win, it doesn't matter if your perks didn't do anything because you're winning and that's all that counts.

  • It's a nerf. You can't use guards in short-range, and they have so much counterplay that they're worthless at long-range. Any survivor with more than five braincells can loop around grab the banner and that's it, your power is nothing but a minor inconvenience. He's going to be unplayable outside of spamming Carnifex pallet-smashing.

He might be healthier for the game, in the sense than he's been effectively deleted from the game. You're better off playing someone else. Like Skull Merchant.

  • I agree, I don't trust complaints about that either. Both happen sometimes, and it sucks when they do, but unless I'm shown the evidence, I can only assume most people are just blowing hot air.

  • I don't trust complaints about tunneling because people's definitions of tunneling are unreliable.

  • Castlevania not getting a map is the primary reason I've lost interest in that chapter. The series is named after the location, like Silent Hill. We're getting Castlevania without Castlevania. The perfect opportunity to give us a big spooky Gothic castle, and it's wasted.

  • In my experience in soloQ, if a survivor is downed and hooked before one generator is finished, that's usually the sign that we aren't going to win. I assume other people feel the same so they just cut to the chase and let themselves die instead of trying to fight the inevitable snowball.

  • It has a lot of potential, but none of it is good. They should never use it again, and ideally they should remake Forgotten Tower to remove them entirely.

  • BHVR is afraid to make Iri Shards more available because that would make it more difficult to squeeze money out of its players. They can pretend "You don't have to pay, you can grind for it!" even though the grind is thousands of hours long.

  • It's been getting really bad lately. I'm outright losing survivors because the scratchmarks just aren't appearing. They go right, I look right, I see nothing, I go left, I see more nothing, I double back to right, there's fading scratchmarks 10 feet away from the turn.
