Tbh I dont have a say about how fast it gets done. It's a high risk high reward. I once played and we didn't find it for 5 gens. In a killer game of mine I killed them all while they were looking for it and no gens were done. Once they know where it is and if it is still up they normally go right back if you loose them in chase so I don't mind it.
@Incirion makes a good point that some times you spawn and b-line for it and its gone. I am the survivor that does this a lot because I play this too much and know where totems spawn. It's half skill half luck. This is the issue with RNG games
Currently as it is, i view it more as ultimate risk, high reward, because of those spawns.
And they aren't common, but they're uncommon enough to be annoying regardless.
Go back a year or 2 and i wouldn't complain about it, as it's a huge issue for multiple Perks, so i'd have faith it'd be fixed. (The ridiculous spawns.)
But we're here now and all we hear is that they're on it.

Good reasoning actually for Ruin.
The oversight though is that other Hex Perks work in the exact same way, some won't even be able to do a thing and no one could know about them, yet they get cleansed by this 1 person who just happened to spawn on it, see it next to a Generator, spot it from 100 meters away because it's in an open field or just happens to stumble upon it cause it's not well hidden.
I know this is about Ruin, but when you say that it's okay for it to be cleansed early, you say that about every Hex Perk.

Plus there's stuff like Howling Grounds that puts their idea of balance into serious doubt.
I've been waiting for bullshit Totem placements to be removed for 2 years now btw.
I can forgive new maps, but most maps still allow at least 1 placement close & in direct sight with a Generator.
It can't be that it's not a thing they wanna do either, as they keep reminding us they're "working on it".
Apparently that takes longer than 2 years.

That would probably be another paragraph btw, since licensed Survivors usually come with a Killer of the same IP.
And devs don't want regular zombies.
Then again, they also said they never wanted clowns...

Serpent is supposed to be paired with Shadow Dance for it's maximum effect; add on Brutal Strength and maybe even Fire Up and #########: you have a party! :P
Like i said: To catch up, to be able to do a longer lunge and to potentially block upright pallets & windows.
Plus, an Add-on that needs another piece of equipment to make it have a positive effect isn't good, it's very very poor on its own.

They don't know how to program it properly.
Totem placement has been part of the fixes in DbD for a long time now.
I'm talking at least over a year by now.
Yet they insist on keeping them on hills, with the excuse that those few rocks will prevent someone from seeing it far away.
I'm still seeing Dull (and, unfortunately, sometimes Hex) right next to Generators, not hidden behind anything either.
Which doesn't matter anyway since those candles on Hex Totems make WAY too much noise, i don't know any candle around here that does that.
And specifically Crotus Prenn Asylum is terrible, those in the middle of the field still exist.
Terrible for any Killer without any form of extra mobility.
They said they'll change it 3 times by now and then recently said they acquired new technology or smthn to make it better.
I have no faith at all and any improvements will surprise me greatly.

I had a fun moment in my last match just now.
Was chasing an Ash as Wraith.
My Spirit Fury was ready to destroy the next Pallet that would stun me.
The Ash runs towards a Pallet.
I manage to barely hit him, triggering his MoM, and they drop the Pallet after doing so.
Which gets dropped on me and SF breaks it.
I also run Enduring, so i quickly hit him again.
Not only did i counter MoM successfully there using Enduring & Spirit Fury, i also didn't have to wait for the successful hit animation to play entirely, the Pallet stun was way faster.

I got the blue basement hooker one when i hooked the 4th out of all 4 Survivors at the same time, all in the basement.
It was a gorgeous sight, seeing them hang, struggle and get taken while Steam was like: "Yo, i like what you're doing to them. Here's a reward."

Trapper & Wraith let you learn basic Killer stuff pretty easily.
Ones like Doctor, Huntress & Hillbilly are all about using their Power to their max.
And Nurse is on another level of that.
