Well the cages prevent the hooking perks- with meta perks like DS or BT, I think thats pretty good. Assuming its not too hard to make Survivors tormented, thats not too bad. Saying his alt attack is his main power is like Pig's Dash or Demo's Shred is the main part (difference is PH's power is much stronger than RNG helmets or portals).

Well it's also preventing the killers perks and those perks not activating doesn't really matter because it sends them to the opposite side of the map for a free save.

"Saying his alt attack is his main power is like Pig's Dash or Demo's Shred is the main part"

Yeah..and i agree with those statements as well. Those are their main abilities.

I don't know nearly enough about PH to discuss this accurately, but how do you figure that? His trenches and ability to send people to cages seems like his most powerful asset, kind of like how Doc's Madness helps with the illusions. The extra parts (Killer Instinct on trenches, special attack) seem like the secondary parts.

His primary skill is his ranged attack.

All his trenches/Torment debuff are doing is saving him a little time hooking, that's it. There's no debuff on the survivors.

See I'm the opposite. I think it should be difficult to apply, but rewarding when it is applied.

Legion is a perfect example of a Killer that can apply a relatively underwhelming status effect very easily. And we all know how fun they are to face and play as.

I'd like Pyramid Head to a least get a chance to explore the opposite end of the spectrum. At least see how something like that plays out in the meta over time.

Well I see Legions case as different because that's his main ability, where as PH the Torment is more of a secondary supportive ability to me.

  • I don't think it needs more effects, I just think Torment needs to be easier to apply.

  • @Rivyn said:

I can argue the opposite. It's not the killers fault, it's the survivors who unhooked. If the killer is close enough to even catch you straight off the hook, than the blame should be placed on the survivor who did the rescuing, especially without BT. They basically farmed you for points. Can you really blame the killer if you're pulled off hook in their face, and the rescuer doesn't at least take a protection hit, instead sprinting to the nearest pallet?

Now, I'm not saying hardcore tunneling doesn't exist, and is a pretty unfair playstyle around it. I understand in a lot of cases killers will tunnel, simply for the sake of doing it. But on the other hand, I feel at least part of the blame comes down to survivors not knowing when or how to safely rescue somebody.

And this lack of learning to make good saves continues to perpetuate itself because of perks like BT which remove the need for ever learning.

  • Survivors do get lots of nerfs. It's more about most of them being not significant enough to really change much in the grand scheme of things.

  • Thanata isn't even good.

  • Exactly why people have complained about it. Now you can't point out how bad the matchmaking is because you don't even get to see it.

  • This literally doesn't exist anymore...it's dedicated servers..

New prestige rewards where did you hear about this? I’ve not heard anything about that but I’d love it if it were true!

It was either on the anniversary stream or on leaks by daylight, can't quite remember.

  • I P3 with all perks at tier 3 everyone. It isn't a smart choice, I just do it because I'm a completionist.

Supposedly there are new prestige rewards coming though so we'll see soon.

  • Imo, no.

Very few killers can apply enough pressure to get a good enough amount of value from it. IE it makes the best killers better while not doing much for the ones that needed the help the most.

It's not good enough for the risk it brings in most cases, especially not now that we have Soul Guard coming out.

  • @th3 said:

I think an effect that ultimately bypasses every hook based perk survivors have should be difficult to achieve

That negative is kind of null and void because not only does the killer not get his perks as well, but the fact that it sends you to the opposite side of the map means those perks wouldn't be needed anyway. If they aren't needed in that scenario then you aren't really losing anything.

  • Not that I'm opposed to Demo buffs as I think he could use some, but I don't think that really tackles his main issue which is giving too much information to survivors. I suppose we could do both though which sounds good to me and I don't think would be overpowered.

People need to stop underestimating this killer. Getting people into torment shouldn’t be something which you can do for free or with ease. Even then all you need to do is place torment around hooks, gens and at loops and you are guaranteed to get at least some people into torment. You don’t need to get literally EVERYONE every time, remember you can still hook people like any normal killer.

    I don't think I'm underestimating him at all, I said he's a decent killer.

"Getting people into torment shouldn’t be something which you can do for free or with ease."

I would agree more if the effect was strong or hindered the survivors in some way but it doesn't. Weak effect = should be decently easy to apply. If it was a strong effect, then sure, it should be harder, but it's not.

"Even then all you need to do is place torment around hooks, gens and at loops and you are guaranteed to get at least some people into torment."

Have you actually played on the PTB? You would know that you aren't able to place it near hooks or gens...it disappears seconds later..

  • I can't see a game where I would ever run Lightborn, literally even 4 purple flashlights. I think Franklins would fill that purpose better and even then, I feel the same way about Franklins. Why waste a perk slot when I can simply play in a way to counter the flashlights? Using a perk slot to do so is unnecessary.

I think the perk needs a buff to do more.

  • When the game's so easy for you, you get bored easy. That's how they fill that gap and their ego's.

  • His ranged attack should apply Torment on hit or it leaves the trenches on the ground of its radius. Either one. Other than that I'm pretty happy with him.

Currently seems a little too easy too avoid and too much of a waste of time for what little it gives.

  • Ghostface isn't even remotely too strong.

For all the times it's difficult too break him out, I have just as many times I get revealed literally multiple seconds later completely covered and behind something. Both sides of it are pretty wack. Most of this is related to ping from dedicated servers though.

  • After you've played this game for so long you get to where you know most of its intricacies. Meaning even a subtle faster than normal move speed or being found somewhere "unreasonably". It seems pretty easy to tell imo.

I generally think in the vast majority of cases that people are complaining about hackers it really isn't and they just don't fully understand how certain mechanics or perks work..or they're just salty. I'm probably in the 1% of top playtime people and I've only ever seen a true hacker once. I'm not saying this to brag just pointing out how rare hackers are after playing for so many hours. Others may have truly experienced more hackers than this but I feel my sample size is pretty significant for using it as a basis.

Note that all I have said is for PC only. Things may be totally different for other platforms.

  • I feel like it’s a perpetuating cycle because the most popular survivors get way more cosmetics because their so popular, but then they continue to be more popular because they get all the cosmetics. I’d like to play some of the less played survivors but they just don’t have any good cosmetics, like things such as bunny feng.

Hello there, I am a Legion main. I managed to get quite a few 4K's in a row using him at Rank 1.

I think he really needs some QoL changes. Power no longer draining on basic attack would be nice. Reducing the stun time to 3 seconds and removing the screen darkening would be appreciated. But most of all, give him some way to win if the Survivors decide not to heal.

That is the win condition with Legion. If the Survivors heal, you win 99% of the time. If they don't well, you better hope they aren't good at looping.

That summed up my issues and fixes for Legion as well.

I forgot about mentioning the power drain on basic attack. Like why? Makes no sense at all and should've been removed ages ago.

Most killer add ons are trash. I don't want number buffs I want effects that change the powers up or do different things so I can use them differently.

Same reason I hate 80% of offerings.

    That seems reasonable.

  • @emptyCups said:

plague needs buffs as well basekit let her puke damage gens

Addons that change vomit shape and direction

Addons that leave pools that slowdown like freddy snares

Addons that let her movement speed boost when someone cleanses

Honestly she's got good Survior heal pressure but nothing else. Have the vomit slow action speed on infected items

I have a soft spot for Plague as one of my favorite killers. I just didn't recommend her because I think there's killers in worse shape before her.

"as well basekit let her puke damage gens"

I've always thought she needed that quality of life. Quite annoying having to puke and kick every single time.

Also give her a 4meter TR reduction per survivor infected and in the broken state. This encourages survivors to cleanse without any non fun mechanics debuffing them.

I think she needs an addon rework as you alluded to as well.

Most her addons revolve around improving her corrupted purge which already doesn't need buffs. She needs her addons that improve her Vile Purge like debuffs attached to being infected and things like you mentioned.

  • I think we should just work our way up from the bottom fixing the worst killers first.

Legion is first on my list and then probably Clown.

Take a second off Legions fatigue after using his power and give some additional negative to getting his with FF while injured ( I don't mean lethality). This could even be like double Mend time. The point is to essentially make survivors want to heal and not just be able to outright ignore his power. Right now everyone essentially just doesn't heal and now his powers near useless the rest the game. A similar problem to Plague.

The removal of Clowns slowdown was a nice touch but he's still second to worst imo. I think he needs an additional ability or feature. I don't really have an idea here as I'm not much of a Clown player.

  • @ggezbaby said:

you’re rank 1 complaining about DS?

they DC because you slugged them for the last survivor, which is unpleasant. I’m sure you had a hard game, but it’s still annoying for the opposite side.

you basically got a 3k and almost 24k points so I’d say you did well.

Slugging is essentially to winning at rank 1 against "good" survivors.

You're asking him to play in a way that loses him the game.

  • First of all, it's just 8 seconds, not 4-8. Grading based on low tiers is disingenuous.

Next, you act like leaving a hex up all game is insanely punishing, it's generally not. The only hex generally that would be more important might be devour and even then the game has to go on long enough and the killer play well enough for it to even start to matter enough to cleanse it.

At high ranks you win with slugging. It's the only way you are outputting enough pressure to slow down good survivors. It is not worth losing your ability to slug to have a totem up all game. Slugging is essential. I'm assuming based on your thoughts that you aren't playing at high ranks, but at low ranks yeah, slugging doesn't really matter as the survivors are playing badly and don't know what they're doing. At high ranks though you cannot give up slugging.

A ruin or lullaby (lol) all game isn't really a big deal.

It's a poorly designed perk to me because it's quite weaker in solo queue, but god tier meta in a SWF. This is the exact design the devs said they don't want to do. They stated that they do not want to make perks that are specifically stronger for SWF as they are already an issue.

You can say it's situational, but here's the thing, just like all the other second chance perks, if the situation didn't arise, you won anyway because those situations are how killers win high rank games against "good" survivors. If you lost without those situations arising yall played badly. It also forces him to play inefficiently around the perk because he has to assume you could be running it, meaning you are getting it's value even when it doesn't activate.

more like "do I take as a insult to Demos everywhere or as a compliment to me?"

She was just saying you played well for playing a killer that she considers weak. It's just a compliment.

  • Even using those addons I think that if you took a poll that Myers would probably rank as the number 1 killer survivors like to face. Most survivors consider him one of the more "fair" killers from my experience. Like even most times I play Myers and they get destroyed I get comments like, "well you're playing Myers so I can't really complain about anything".

  • Kind of a vague question. What kind of answer are you looking for? Like is Demo strong or weak?

  • Interesting stats to see. They pretty much match what I would expect.

Do you have these stats strictly for the 27 red rank games you could post as well?

  • @StardustSpeedway said:

Just don't heal and do gens. Unfortunately the survivors I always get paired up with never understand this concept. Oh, and SPLIT UP! Stay far away from each other!

    Pretty much this.

Healing against Legion is a wrong move and Thanata is a wasted perk slot imo.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

Can we just talk about the fact that it took 22 secs to catch up running just m1...thats A LOT. 3 people do 1 gen in what was it? 35 seconds?

That said, this is dope, looking forward to release

This was my first thought as well, like holy crap that was long and that was just a freaking straight line...imagine adding pallets, loops, a DS, a BT, a Dead Hard etc etc. It makes it pretty obvious why gens fly so fast.

My second thought was how garbage the bottles were. I felt like they were making much more of a difference than they actually are. The addons experiment is pretty irrelevant to me because you won't have those addons every game so it's unrealistic to include those when looking at somethings balance for the most part.

Even after 4.0 the bottles look god awful. That's barely much of a gain from using the bottles at all. Especially seeing as it's his only ability. I'm not saying 4 seconds isn't significant, I'm just saying 17 seconds for the chase still when it's only a straight line isn't going to be good enough.

    Both should be the case.

    Or they'll be validated

If you couldn't go above 1 hatchet with Iri Head I think that would be fair design.

Half the challenges are made to be toxic I.e Basement bounties, NOED bounties, kill two people at EGC. Free cosmetics are fine to an extent, if it was for characters that I would be interested in playing. And saying that that's on the person for not playing the character is bs. Players shouldnt feel forced to play a character they have no interest in. At least if we could sell those cosmetics for shards thatd be good. Means we're getting something out of it. It's not generous at all 😅 but if that's your opinion, that's your opinion. Your entitled to it.

We just fundamentally have different opinions then because I don't think any of those things you listed are toxic whatsoever.

Pay a one time low fee and you get the premium track essentially for life isn't generous? Not to mention the game even lets you get most of its future content for free through game time. They seem excessively generous in their costs in my opinion and I'm overall quite critical of the devs most the time.

Oh, he didn't look asian at all to me.

  • You get some free cosmetics and blood points from the challenges themselves. That seems pretty generous.

    Also,

" I'm sure others can relate when they dont bother paying 10 quid everytime a new tome pass comes"

If you play even a decent amount the tome more than pays for itself. IE you pay one time and get all future premium tomes FREE with extra auric cells left over even. It is a one time fee, not over and over.

  • I was under the impression Jake was hispanic.

  • The autohaven maps, they are extremely outdated. Not just in visuals but in game play design as well. They need huge overhauls. They're just an open field of pallets, that's it.

I don't think she is easily shut down by survivors, because you can put traps in unexpected places, watch space coconut. Also she used to be underrated as hell. However she is overrated on most tier lists, she doesn't belong in S tier.

I watch Space coconut, it doesn't change anything I've said imo.

  • Hag is one of the most overrated killers imo. Very easily shut down by survivors that know what they're doing. She is one of the hardest noob stompers though.

Not saying she's bad, she's quite good, just overrated on most tier lists and opinions. Imo.

  • Never thought I'd see the day someone complains about Iron Maiden lol.

In seriousness though, this is a meme perk that is really, really bad. Even on Huntress it's a wasted perk slot. There are way better options.

I rarely see that build tho. Sure, maybe 1 survivor might, but I have rarely seen 2 or more survivors run that build. Iron Will is common, purely because its extremely strong and the only useful counter to Spirit.

In my average game as killer and survivor, survivors tend to have more creative builds. I'd say in the span of 100 games, I encounter almost every survivor perk at least once. They arent always good uses, and sometimes terrible(looking at you, claudettes using selfcare without botany knowledge when the killer is running sloppy, dying light, coulrophobia and/or thana, you're literally wasting so much time). Yet in the span of 400 games, excluding my own. I dont even see half the killer perks.

Sure, if someone has DS, odds are 50% that they run Unbreakable. Sure, if someone runs Spine Chill, there is about a 70% that they run Sprint Burst too. But overall, survivor builds are more diverse than killers. The only reason for diversity in killers in the first place is their ability. You wouldnt run Distressing on pretty much any killer, but you will almost always see it on Doc. You would never run Sloppy Butcher on Billy or Huntress, but almost always see it on Trapper. Calling killer builds "diverse" because different killers have different abilities isnt exactly diverse. Sure, some perks will never really work on a certain killer. Enduring or Bamboozle on Nurse would essentially be useless. Whispers on Doc has practically no use. Play With Your Food on Legion would essentially be worthless. Overwhelming Presence on any stealth killer is essentially useless. But even ignoring those situations, there still are a pile of unused perks. Some for a reason(monstrous shrine doesnt really work). But I have NEVER seen anyone use Cruel Limits and Bamboozle while using a Lery's offering, even though that actually would be a good combo. I have NEVER seen anyone use Mindbreaker, Pop and Surveillance together, even though that is actually not a bad combo.

The point is, killers tend to try and use the best perk combination that fits their killers and ignore potentially fun to use builds, which leaves very little diversity. Survivors, while they do sometimes use the best perk combinations, also tend to use more fun combinations aswell. Just look at Monto's Oni build. That was literally using perks that you would normally never use on an Oni, or on any killer for that matter. Yet why took it so long for anyone to find that combo in the first place? Because the vast majority of killers are a bit elitist. You simply have builds that work and builds that dont. Any new perkbuild that might work wont even be considered, because "it wont work". And when it does, someone is a massive genius for actually trying something new.

Dont think that? Well, lets look what was said about Oni's Bloodglove by a lot of killer mains(including Otz, who normally is the one who is like "they might see it, but that doesnt mean they are smart enough to avoid it" in many cases):

"Survivors can just see the blood orbs and dodge them, making the addon useless"

"Blood orbs disappear when I use Oni's ability, so its bad to use on Oni because I might aswell be an M1 killer"

THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT. You have addons that practically negate the Killer's m2 ability in favour of being a stronger M1 killer. Even Nurse's Matchbox works great with Jenner's Last Breath. Amanda's Letter practically removes Pig's Traps in exchange of being a better stealth killer. GF's Caught on Tape practically removes the use of leaning and stalking, but makes crouch stalking much more efficient. Even Bubba and Billy's speedlimiter can be used for builds that normally wouldnt fit on them, especially because Billy keeps his running speed and Bubba can still hit multiple survivors at once(altho, Bubba's speedlimiter SHOULD speed his movementspeed to a point where he can actually use it). Let alone that Begrimed Chains actually get a use with speedlimiter, while they otherwise would be useless(I mean, you hit someone, walk them to a hook that takes 10 seconds away, having them hang on the hook for about 30 seconds, then probably healing up for 16 seconds, already wasted 60 seconds from the addon, and if you happen to catch them within 60 seconds of being unhooked, you need to slug them first before hooking again, wasting even more time). So there are builds that are extremely good when you're forced to weaken/remove the killers m2 ability. Builds that might be insanely strong. Yet killer mains are too much about "that will never work" to the point that they will never even try it out in the first place.

"Iron Will is common, purely because its extremely strong and the only useful counter to Spirit."

I completely disagree. I think the majority of people, myself included, run Iron Will because it allows for better mind games and jukes while looping all killers. I rarely see Spirits these days.

"Calling killer builds "diverse" because different killers have different abilities isnt exactly diverse."

I disagree again. Just because they are diverse because they have different abilities doesn't change the fact that you are still seeing different perks used. Whether it's because of different killer abilities or another reason is irrelevant, they are still using different perks.

"Some for a reason(monstrous shrine doesnt really work). But I have NEVER seen anyone use Cruel Limits and Bamboozle while using a Lery's offering, even though that actually would be a good combo."

You don't see that because it would be stupid to run, not because of a lack of diversity. Cruel Limits is just god awful no matter what map you're on and Bamboozle is good on certain maps, with Lery's not really being one of them. Those two perks, especially on Lery's, would not be a good combo.

"I have NEVER seen anyone use Mindbreaker, Pop and Surveillance together, even though that is actually not a bad combo."

Yes, that is an awful combo.

"The point is, killers tend to try and use the best perk combination that fits their killers and ignore potentially fun to use builds, which leaves very little diversity."

Because most the fun build perks suck. Just because the diversity is forced because the killers have different abilities doesn't mean it isn't diversity. In the end you are still going against different perks from a survivor perspective.

"Because the vast majority of killers are a bit elitist."

I disagree and you have no data to corroborate this at all.

"So there are builds that are extremely good when you're forced to weaken/remove the killers m2 ability. Builds that might be insanely strong. Yet killer mains are too much about "that will never work" to the point that they will never even try it out in the first place."

Because we are talking about rank 1 games against actually GOOD survivors. Not meme'ing at low ranks.

Do you play both sides at rank 1? A lot of these opinions make me think you aren't playing at red ranks because these things you mentioned do work at low ranks where survivors don't know what they're doing, but at rank 1 with competent players these things are not realistically viable if you care about winning at all.

1 … 147 148 149 150 151 … 255
