I agree with this, 4 optimal solos are just as strong as an optimal SWF. Survivors playing optimally do not need coms, they know what to do.

Now SWF can boost a team above their individual skill levels, however it will not turn regular casual survivors into optimal survivors. To me SWF is not as strong as some make it out to be. It is an advantage, but it also what keeps the game competitive. 4 casual randos will often get destroyed and play quite selfishly, which is why many regular players prefer to SWF.

"Survivors playing optimally do not need coms, they know what to do."

I think this is a key takaway as well. Note the word "optimally", not even skilled.

You can lose many matches that you were never outplayed per say, but simply because they know efficiency. IE spread out and holding m1 without wasting time. These teams know the real weakness for killers is the disparity in objective time.

The average survivors biggest flaw isn't even their looping, it's that they waste time.

  • '"When you're deciding if she's faking it or not you don't walk towards her, problem solved. Then if she's faking it she wasted a bunch of time for nothing and if she's phasing she just had to guess where you were." <==== That is exactly what you said."

Yes, and you misquoted it. What I said there is different than what you quoted earlier.

You're viewing what you "quoted" of me earlier as being synonymous with what I said here and it's not.

"Also, your rhetoric is so generic that it could also be used to justify when Spirit didn't have a vaulting animation, prayer beads blocked the phasing sounds, iridescent heads, or even the existence of infinite loops. Choose an option (Spirit, Prayer Beads, Iridescent heads, Looping) and apply below:"

I posted generic things because you offered nothing of substance to the conversation to descredit. All you did was speak in hyperbole, misquote me, and say fundamental things about Spirit that just objectively are incorrect.

You get substance when you give substance.

"This is a skill issue on your part, not a ________ issue.

If you seriously think it's a situation that's impossible to lose for ________ you need to get some more experience with the game. Speaking hyperbolic doesn't add anything to the conversation.

Based on these things you've said you don't have a good understanding of ___________. I think you should practice playing as and against her some more. There are some educational videos out there you can watch.""

Pointing out that you have a fundamental misunderstanting of the game is substance.

The issue is lack of experience so I offered a solution which is practice and educational videos. You may not agree, but it is in fact substance. It was a solution offered for a problem.

Also, saying those could fill in the blank with all those previous things is just hyperbole again. Speak in actualities and not exaggerations and we can further some substance in this conversation.

Playing solo is a unfair advatange (most of the times) for the survivor, so what we're supposed to do..

Four good solo's still has the advantage quite significantly over an equally skilled killer. I run solo 99% of the time and I am still definitely the power role.

Yeah I can get potatoes a lot, but if you're skilled enough you can carry a lot of them. You'll at the very least play well enough to pip which means you'll be slowly ranking up and increasing the likelihood of getting good teammates.

Its the same reason people can't juke nurse tbh and then go on crying about how OP she is. I swear....why are survivors getting progressively worse at this game.....

Well the devs balance around green ranks or below so the communities been trained to complain about things to get it solved for them rather than adapting themselves. The community is left with very little self agency.

  • The games not balanced for SWF so it is an unfair advantage. I don't blame you, I blame its poor design in the games balance.

That said, I'll critique your upload if you have it to see where y'all can improve.

That is very dumb comparison statement since everyone knows the Spirit may or may not actually be standing still, while all other killers are.

He wasn't being literal man. He was making a point.

The point is whether you know if she's phasing or not, you don't walk towards her.

Because sometimes you're in a position where you're in an indoor map or at a loop in the corner of the map.

Sometimes the only way to go is around the killer, but where I could see Freddy place a blood pool, or a trapper trap the pallet, I am now in a position where it's checkmate without any input from the killer

I'll quote the counter play to this that I already posted earlier.

"Also, in that scenario you can start to sprint away from the loop. She will immediately start phasing because she knows you are gaining distance. Instead right after starting to sprint away now you start walking. She has no idea which direction and is forced to guess.

You have manipulated her into phasing when you wanted her to. IE force her to react to you, not you reacting to her."

    OR

She's phasing after you across the field and make it to a loop. You fast vault the window, wait a couple seconds, then slow vault back over. You manipulated what she saw and heard. IE scratch marks to the window and a fast vault noise. She is going to keep going around and assume you kept going. She will assume this because most players are bad and don't know how to play against Spirit and will do just that. You mind gamed her by giving her false information and forced her to make a guess.

It's easy when you only address half of the possibilities, isn't it?

"If the Spirit is faking, she's wasting time. If the Spirit is not faking, don't walk towards her."

Yes, bc when the Spirit stops I need to stop and a good look at her to see if the shards are shining, look at her animation resetting, the occasional hair glitch, all perfectly intended signs by the development team. It's not like other killers that are also powerful don't give signs that they are using their power, no one sees a Nurse lifting her hand or give audio clues before blinking so you can estimate the distance traveled. /sarcasm

I'm so tired of people giving useless advice in these forums trying to justify a killer power that is unfun to go against and takes counterplay out of the table. Just by having survivors stop to assess if she is or not phasing, the Spirit is already in a situation that is impossible for her to lose. She either fakes and watches the survivor escape pattern gaining knowledge of how they will try to avoid her or immediately phases and gain distance on them bc they had to stop to look for the bright shards/hair glitch/animation reset.

Spirit is a dumb killer and needs change.

""If the Spirit is faking, she's wasting time. If the Spirit is not faking, don't walk towards her.""

This is not what I said, nor would I. So right off the bat you're starting out an argument for something I'm not even saying. This is what you interpreted me as saying, which was incorrect.

"Yes, bc when the Spirit stops I need to stop and a good look at her to see if the shards are shining, look at her animation resetting, the occasional hair glitch, all perfectly intended signs by the development team."

Once again, never said any of these. Nor would I. Yes, you're trying to be sarcastic, but it's for a point that shows misunderstanding of Spirit at a fundamental level.

"I'm so tired of people giving useless advice in these forums trying to justify a killer power that is unfun to go against and takes counterplay out of the table. Just by having survivors stop to assess if she is or not phasing, the Spirit is already in a situation that is impossible for her to lose. This is a skill issue on your part, not a Spirit issue.

If you seriously think it's a situation that's impossible to lose for Spirit you need to get some more experience with the game. Speaking hyperbolic doesn't add anything to the conversation.

True, but against any skilled spirit player this will probably not work especially since this is a very common thing to do against spirit.

This works against the majority of the Spirits out there at rank 1. Also, whether it happens to work or not it still means there is counter play. It doesn't have to be 100% effective to be counter play.

  • If we're talking no addons.

Trapper, Wraith, Clown and Plague are all pretty in the dumpster. Honorable mention for Pig.

With normal addons I'd probably put Clown and Plague the lowest. Trapper still coming in close with Pig.

Honestly with or without addons we're still picking the best looking trash out of the garbage, they're all bad. Exception being Wraith, Wraith actually gets pretty decent with addons.

  • @Dustin said:

Admittedly the way I'd do it is if you're standing still long enough at a certain point when a passive phase procs during each phase you losing vision of the survivor as if you were actually using your power and this gets disabled when you start moving again. As a tradeoff I'd give the actual killer player a tell when they're passively phasing. Such as their arms blurring on occasion on their own screen.

Regarding an actual tell for survivor I'd give the phase two distinct sounds that are almost identical but far enough that if you have a sharp ear you can tell but it would be subtle. One phase sound for phases happening while standing still and one phase sound for when The Spirit is using their power.

I'd also disable Stridor while phasing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1940414#Comment_1940414

Because sometimes that's basically your only option in the case that you're in an open area with a pallet already thrown down. If you try to walk or run the Spirit is just going to catch up to you in phase. Vaulting the pallet and taking the risk is sometimes the only option a survivor has. Otherwise they're running out in an open field which a Spirit will be able to catch you before you reach the next tile. We can argue all day on whether the survivor should be given a chance to reach the next tile or if the chase should be enforced to end quicker since The Spirit is using their power but at the end of the day that isn't the issue. The issue is Spirit has no tell when they're using their power and it's unfun to play against and at times yes even unfair. In reality it's in The Spirit's ballpark to mess up also if they're good enough the survivor will never reach the next tile. Regarding being good enough you just need a little above average basic game knowledge to listen for the survivor and watch scratchmarks. Skills you don't even need to play Spirit to be good at.

The one issue with this is I'll acknowledge it's going to be hard to give Spirit a tell on when using their power and in my view it goes into this killer needs a moderate rework territory.

"Because sometimes that's basically your only option in the case that you're in an open area with a pallet already thrown down."

The fact of you being in this position means you already screwed up and misplayed. You're trying to outplay a position you shouldn't be in the first place.

Also, in that scenario you can start to sprint away from the loop. She will immediately start phasing because she knows you are gaining distance. Instead right after starting to sprint away now you start walking. She has no idea which direction and is forced to guess.

You have manipulated her into phasing when you wanted her to. IE force her to react to you, not you reacting to her.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1940539#Comment_1940539

I know, but you are helpless in this situation if the spirit player knows how to play spirit and does it well. There is still no counter, only a slight delay in killing you if you vault a window or pallet. Survivors shouldn't have to feel completely helpless knowing they can't do anything, but that is what spirit does right now.

I don't feel helpless at all against Spirit. They feel helpless because they don't know what they're doing, not because of an issue with Spirit actually objectively making them helpless.

First of all when you're at full health the Spirit is completely guessing your movement entirely. So half the time you should have the advantage here.

Just one example: She's phasing after you across the field and make it to a loop.

This is just one of many examples. There is lots of counter play if you understand what the Spirit is seeing and hearing to manipulate it.

Lol...that is literally what proactive means.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1940495#Comment_1940495

Standing still and phasing or faking a phase isn't a mindgame because survivors are given zero information on when you are phasing. Moonwalking is a mindgame because the survivor can still make a good prediction or guess what the killer will do. With spirit, there are no mindgames nor counterplay unless she herself moonwalks or fake moving in one direction like other killers. What makes her good and what needs to be fixed is not allowing survivors to know when she is phasing.

"faking a phase isn't a mindgame because survivors are given zero information on when you are phasing."

Because that would mean they are playing against Spirit incorrectly. Looking for information to react to as survivor is how you play against other killers.

Against Spirit you force her to react to you.

If someone is trying to react to Spirit they do not understand how to play against Spirit. You should be proactive, not reactive.

  • It should just work like Iron Will.

They said that it was one of the perks on their lists for changes that they were working on....like 6 months to a year ago...

But you know just turning the time limit part of it off is a lot of programming...

  • @AhoyWolf said:

But at least you can see those Killers, you can't tell what she's doing.

If a normal Killer stands still and gets a free hit it's Survivor's fault for running into them.

If Spirit stands still the Survivor has no idea about what she's doing.

He's making the point that if you have "no idea about what she's doing." why in the world would you walk towards her.

  • When you're deciding if she's faking it or not you don't walk towards her, problem solved. Then if she's faking it she wasted a bunch of time for nothing and if she's phasing she just had to guess where you were.

I have like 4 different games I alternate through. Most of them either have battle passes or limited time events I have to finish, paired with the fact that I just get really tired of dbd after like 2 hours of playing I really can’t get that many characters level up. I have like only 5-6 killers at lvl 50

Definitely understandable! I personally never get tired of DBD but I can definitely see how it would for lots of people!

  • @Asssblasster625 said:

I bought all my characters with money. Mostly cause I use my shards for the shrine

Definitely an option! That would be a route people can take if they don't have as much free time to unlock the perks by leveling them up. All just depends if the person has more free time or money. Many ways to go and just depends on the persons situation.

  • The hit boxes have been a little wonky on both sides. I wouldn't go as far as to say unplayable though, that's a bit of an exaggeration.

  • @Asssblasster625 said:

Buying killers and survivors/ perks from the shrine

^ This is a big one.

I personally buy every single killer/survivor with shards that is non licensed. That's a ton of free content.

I don't think ever ever had to buy a single character with money that was non licensed because of this.

  • The envelopes need to spawn in the webs significantly more as well. I'm lucky if I see even 1 every 3 lvl 50 webs...

This issue has been around for years with event offerings in the web. I wish we could finally get this fixed.

  • You haven't seen it because it's overrated and not actually good.

  • I'd say severely overrated.

She gets misleading results because she's a noob stomper and the average survivor is pretty bad.

If she could consume fountains from anywhere she would be stronger than Nurse. Her power is insane when she has it, survivors need a chance to split up so they don't lose by default.

Not even remotely close to Nurse. I think you way over value her corrupt purge. She's very loopable with her corrupt. Not to mention it's canceled on stun, which is significant because you have to respect every pallet.

  • @MadLordJack said:

She needs a few tweaks, sure, but mostly just to fix her robbed hits and centralise her guaranteed fountain.

If they fixed her issues with server ping and allowed her to consume fountains from anywhere that would go a long way.

  • She does need a Doctor level rework. There's lots of her kit that is poor design, doesn't make sense, or just simply doesn't function as intended.

  • IW is actually one of the few survivor meta perks that I actually think are totally fine.

It isn't a free second chance and it actually requires skill to take advantage of it.

  • I was finding that annoying as trapper as well.

I think they could stand to add a lot more grass and make it a lot thicker on almost every single map

  • Making every hook and gen an event one was a positive change so I appreciate the bonus blood points.

    That's about all I'd say.

The event isn't making you do anything different or changes anything. It's just some cosmetic changes and some extra blood points for passively doing the exact same thing you would be doing otherwise.

I also find the skins pretty lackluster and think they could have done a lot better. I suppose that's more subjective though.

I would have liked to maybe see them fusing to be part demon/bull with black and red accent. A dark look. Instead we got WWE smackdown outfits that look like they're trying to be goofy rather than scary. Nothing about those outfits says "intimidating" or "horror" themed.

  • IE the survivors shouldn't be getting buffed by it in the first place and then none of these things are necessary.

Just a lot of unnecessary extra steps. The 2.5 second delay is there to make you play around things you shouldn't have to be playing around in the first place.

  • His tier hasn't moved since the changes. It barely even qualified as a buff.

  • Wish they'd stop giving Yui biker outfits. Like we get it, she's a biker, let's get something different.

Being good at all killers isn't odd.

Killers all share the same fundamentals, only one killer is exempt from this (Nurse, but even Nurse shares some fundamentals with everyone else). It just means he has good fundamentals.

The same fundamentals will carry you through any match no matter which killer you use.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1935995#Comment_1935995

Let the mods worry about modding.

    ?

I think you misunderstood my post.

  • Painting someone in a negative light could be viewed as "shaming".

Note I'm not saying it is, but simply viewed as.

  • I could answer your question genuinely as to why but it would be deemed against ToS as anything not viewed as positive about someone could be misconstrued as "Name and Shaming".

There is a good reason though, and it's not because the game is "killer sided".

You generally to be safe can't talk about anyone by name.

  • Without telling us which survivors have the hook it literally serves no purpose whatsoever and adds nothing to the game.

  • I like the change.

Would it be too much if instead of that it revealed the killer for 2 seconds when he disturbed a crow?

I'm leaning towards probably but I don't know.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I'd like the devs to turn down the killer noises for all killers (from the killer's POV). I tried playing Demo with the volume up and I didn't make it through an entire match before muting the TV. And why wouldn't I mute it? I can't hear anything over him, he totally drowns out important survivor noises, and his own sounds are so repetitive and loud that I just... I can't take it. Nope.

Yeah all killer please. Currently chase music and sounds are just so ridiculously loud it feels like they're intentionally trying to make it hard for me to hear.

Especially annoying on Plague with the sound of her Corrupted Purge whispers blaring out everything.

  • Maybe it also allows you to ignore radius effects. IE like Coulrophobia, Unnerving Presence etc etc.

  • I've been saying this for ages, give him his multi-stalk back. If the survivors mess up he should be able to capitalize.

They also need to remove the stalk limit per survivor. His whole premise is using the weakest link to take down the stronger players. This is what differentiates him from Ghostface.

  • Plague needs a Doctor level rework and Pig while not needing as much as Plague still has a lot of issues herself.

I'd also add Twins to this list. They are complete a disaster and need massive changes.

I'll edit in more specifics later, no time at the moment.

  • It's quite annoying. You generally aren't looking up or down for survivors which is why the previous UI didn't bother anyone. However now that it's on the side it actually does impair your field of view in seeing survivors.

  • The UI doesn't meet the parameters of what I good UI is supposed to do. It's supposed to be congregated in the same location to be able to easily and quickly gather the information.

Old UI all you needed was a quick glance down to gather all your info.

New UI in order to get the same info you are having to look in 4 places...it's a mess. You're having to look all over the screen just for basic info.

Well I looked at the patch log this morning written by Peanits. From look at this, https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/274-4-5-0-mid-chapter, It seems like Wraith got a bigger improvement than Clown. No improvements from PTB despite everyone saying that the clown improvements are weak. I just wish they removed 2.5 second gray gas aspect. that part really sucks for yellow gas. It ruins his possible skill expression.

Yeah Clown still left in the dumpster. I had higher expectations given they took an extra week.

This right here is why they don't get high participation on PTB's. People know their feedback on balance is a waste of time and they're essentially just their to do bug testing. They say they don't really have time for changes from PTB's but that's a little disingenuous when there's simple things like increasing the antidotes speed from 10-15%. It's nothing but a number tweak. There is time for that.

  • Yeah with them taking an extra week more than normal I was being hopeful for at least more Clown improvements.

Looks like all we got was bug fixes.

  • I was wondering this as well.

  • Kindred is pretty god tier in solo queue. It helps to herd the sheep.

  • Generally they release around 11 am EST I believe.
