Almost all the time. There were a few instances where it didn't.
Being inside the killer's Terror Radius disabled the perk. Old Freddy was immune to it if the survivor wasn't asleep.
It’s pretty funny how they accidentally reversed it and he went from being basically immune to OoO to being the worst killer to play against it with his rework.
(For those that don’t know current Freddy causes Oblivious when asleep so everyone with OoO could see your aura at all times, even mid chase, making it near impossible to chase them) -

Your avatar suits you very well, so it means that a perk ends your game play, with most experienced survs ending the chase-based killer, and to show that you don't understand things, the current spine chill works with both Myers and ghostface, as they need to look at the surv to make the perk activate
If you were a less stressed and conscious person, you would realize that my idea is even helping these killers, because with the reduction in actions you would indirectly end up preventing a surv from completing a generator or even opening an exit gate, the spine chill currently helps these survs against these killers, so I created this idea thinking about both sides and prioritizing those who really need it
I'm going to use the "distortion" perk as an example, it's a perk that cancels the aura reading of survs, but not everyone uses it, there are people who think that putting it in the build takes away a perk slot for other things, besides running a risk of falling against a killer who doesn't even use this perk, think about it, do you really think that these changes I mentioned will make more experienced people want to use the perk expecting a stealth killer? I highly doubt it, only beginners would use it, and maybe even
I’m just going to say agree to disagree and not bother anymore. We are just going in circles and I’m tired of discussing this.

why does this post begin with the phrase "the problem"
we don't talk about Plague by saying "the problem with Plague is that she counters healing builds," we don't talk about the legion by saying "the problem with Legion is they counter grouping up." why can we recognize that some killers are designed to accomplish certain tasks well and punish certain play styles, and accept that as good design, but when survivors have tools that work against certain killers, we start discussing it in the context of the "problem" it causes
Because this user suggested a buff that I disagree with and was simply pointing out why I disagreed with it and what the issue with bringing it back was. I’m not pointing at the problem with Spine Chill, I’m saying that this suggested buff would be a problem.
There is no need to turn this into an us vs them. If someone had suggested bringing back Nurse’s old add ons or the original Eruption I would have said the same thing.
Don’t read too much into it, it’s not that deep.

What helped 5-second DS before 6.1 was the presence of other perks one could use to capitalize on the DS stun (like Dead Hard, Circle of Healing, etc). A naked DS isn’t going to stop anything nor will it invoke any sort of deterrent fear in a killer who wants to tunnel. That’s why its weak. It does its job (anti-tunnel) poorly. You could theoretically try to build around it now but since very perk meant to thwart tunneling revolves around exhaustion, it’s still not really a good strategy.
That's a fair point. I disagree that it is weak but I can see what you are getting at. I don't think DS needed Dead Hard or CoH to be good but we will see I guess.
I think it is a much better perk now and will have an impact on tunnelling, and is a great buff to survivors, but I heavily agree that tunnelling still will be an issue and needs to be addressed. Just not through anymore DS buffs. Make it base kit and not behind a perk.

To be fair it was the only counter to stealth killers… and no killer should be uncounterable. Taking SC was a gamble because survivors couldn’t know they’d be facing a stealth killer before entering a trial. It was less impactful against any killer with a terror radius which was why it did other things but hint that a killer was within radius. If it did only that, it would be extremely niche (countering only stealth killers to some degree because it still didn’t pinpoint precise location, just that the killer was nearby).
Which is why it was poorly designed. Stealth killers are no where near powerful enough to have a perk hard counter them. Ghost Face in particular was hurt by it as you could barely stalk anyone with this perk and it just rendered you a powerless M1 killer. No killer should have counter play that extreme. The perk wasn't overpowered or anything, it was just very unhealthy.

I already knew that someone would come with this conversation and I already left a prepared response for it:
It's like the "Whisper" perk for killers, it's a very good perk for finding survivors, but no one uses it because the perk doesn't give any other extra benefits, I don't see any problem with there being a perk that reveals stealth killers, even because in swf people talk about where he's going, if that were the case, they should remove the surv's ability to see the aura of other survs while they're on the hook, because swf tell others which surv the killer is going to, spine chill is a perk for solo player , swf you don't need to use itNo one uses Whispers because there are better tracking perks now. It doesn't do tracking that well at all unfortunately. BBQ doesn't give a bonus effect aside from tracking and it is one of the most used perks.
SWFs still couldn't tell that a Ghost Face or Myers was stalking them though. As I mentioned, no perk should hard counter someone to that extreme and especially not killers who are already low tier.
The rework was not the way should have gone. The main reason people used it was for the vault speed bonus, so maybe the should've just turned it into some sort of chase perk and scrapped the stealth aspect of it.

I get your point but DS is not ‘buffed,’ it has a change that has been reverted. And even so it’s still weak. What happened previously to DS is inconsequential now.
To your point about survivor requests, what I’ve seen here is that people who have advocated for improvements to DS have stated quite plainly 5 seconds on paper isn’t enough. Remember: in reality you’re only getting half of that for actual stun time. The killer isn’t frozen for 5 seconds; the killer is frozen for at most 2.4 seconds assuming the animation lock for survivors still counts toward the stun duration.
I don't see how DS is weak now. It's still not anywhere near as powerful as it used to be, but I think now it's probably the healthiest version it could be. Yes the stun isn't technically 5 seconds, but it never was 5 seconds and it never was an issue before. This DS change is nothing but a net positive for survivors.
From what I've seen, this was the most asked for change to DS. "Just revert it to 5 seconds" made up the vast majority of the requests I've seen. The perk shouldn't be buffed any further, it's in a very healthy spot right now. Instead make some base kit counter play to tunnelling, or at the very least a generic perk to deal with it. The best counter play should not be behind a licensed perk.
-
The problem with this is that it still hard counters stealth killers, which was the issue with it in the first place.
The perk isn't in a very good spot right now but it shouldn't go back to countering stealth. It needs a new effect at this point because it's current one is either going to be useless like it is now or too good against stealth.

DS wasn’t buffed. Part of its nerf was reversed, making it more of a net neutral change than anything else. More survivors complain about Nurse (still untouched) than Blight. Ultimate Weapon should have been changed along with Made for This but better now than never.
And yes Adrenaline, the perk that requires survivors play at a handicap (3 perks) for 2/3rds of the trial & complete 5 generators, was nerfed. It’s not terrible but it is worse.
It's still buffed from it's current version and is the exact buff everyone on these forums and other sites were asking for. Claiming this isn't a buff is like saying the previous change wasn't a nerf because they just reverted it back to 3 seconds from it's previous rework. No matter what you want to call it, it is still a positive change for survivors this patch.
People complain about Nurse and Blight pretty evenly (and on these forums I would argue Blight complaints are a much more common occurrence) . Just because one didn't get nerfed doesn't take away how impactful the Blight nerf is.
I agree Ultimate Weapon should have been nerfed earlier. Although it was introduced a chapter later than MFT and nerfed a chapter later so it kinda evens out. Still agree though, it should have been nerfed a lot earlier (and so should have MFT and most other nerfs).
Yes Adrenaline was nerfed. No one said it wasn't. It's just not a big nerf at all and doesn't take away from the fact that they are in fact listening to BOTH sides. This change is a perfect example of them listening to both sides - killers think it should be nerfed, survivors don't so they give a small and fair nerf that addresses killers main issues with it but still keeps it a fairly strong perk with it's main aspect untouched.
They clearly are listening and do not have a preferred side. Yes there is still a lot that needs to be addressed and I wish BHVR was faster with it, but seriously, how can anyone say that this is a bad patch for survivor based off of 1 single nerf and a bunch of highly requested changes?

Wait, did they? It was nerfed only a few months after I started playing and I wasn't as invested back then, so I can't remember. But that's crazy.
Yeah they claimed it was not a good perk because it had a low escape rate but didn't realise the reason for that was because tunnelling them out was the only counter play and that their teammates most likely all escaped because of it.
-
Freddy and Myers.
Don't care whether it is buffs or reworks I just hope either one of them is next.

Pluto tech is when you trap/bodyblock/pinch blight on his first rush, not allowing him any collision and forcing him into fatigue.
I think that is fair to stay. It gives some more counter play for the survivor without being too powerful.
Crouch tech should go though. That is just silly and isn't a good form of counter play because the killer can't play around it as easily as they could with the other tech. Remove it for Billy and Demo as well.

What does that have to do with this patch or the comment I was responding too? Survivors didn't get screwed over or nerfed at all really this update yet people are still throwing around this argument that BHVR is killer sided.
Blight nerfs (specifically hug tech removal), UW nerfs and DS buffs were arguably the 3 most requested change by survivors. They listened and added what survivors were asking for but suddenly that doesn't matter because they gave 1 perk a slight nerf?

No the perk shouldn’t be in control of your teammates. You can be healed under the hook quickly with We’ll Make It/Second Wind or given a syringe and still be tunnelled after.
If anything I’d rather it get disabled if another survivor is picked up. You’re clearly aren’t being tunnelled if the killer is about to hook someone else. Even then though the perk is fine so I don’t think it needs any changes right now.
-
Survivor:
- Quentin
- Jake
- Alan
- Ripley
- Nic Cage
- Leon
- Cheryl
- Steve/Jonathan
- Bill
- Dwight
Killer:
- Ghostface (could easily take up all 10 slots)
- Legion/HUNK
- Demogorgon
- Deathslinger
- Xenomorph
- Knight
- Doctor
- Freddy
- Singularity
- I think Ghostface deserves to be on here a second time :)
-
The roadmap says April-June so it’s possible that these changes will come with the next chapter.
If it is then I hope the road maps are clearer about this in the future.

Yup, people on the forums have been asking for 5 second DS. Now that 5 second DS is coming, it's suddenly not good enough. I think there's just a group of players who primarily play survivor who will never be happy with any changes survivors get.
I wouldn’t even say it’s exclusive to survivors. This community in general is just never happy about anything and needs to twist everything to fit whatever narrative they want.
This is a great patch for both sides I really don’t see how anyone can be upset with it (aside from maybe Blight mains). Yes there is still a lot that needs to be done to fix the game and these changes won’t magically solve them all but this is a pretty good start.

DS is not buff, it's just reverse of latest nerf.
Stop introducing some kind of symmetry, this narrative is completely valid, you just don't see this and don't want to see.
That’s still a buff, or at the very least still a positive change for survivors. And it’s one of the most requested changes in the past few months.
This narrative is not valid. There is ONE nerf to survivor this patch and the perk is still pretty good. How on Earth does that mean BHVR favours killers?

Anything that you say could be considered a "buff" to survivors period
Adrenaline nerf is a much bigger nerf to solo queue, because SWF teams can 99 gens until the person is off hook
True but SWFs could also counter slugging Twins, tunneling, and Blight easier than solo could so overall I think these changes benefit solo more than SWF.

Almost like despite the constant screaming of "BuT BoTh SiDeS!" is clearly a distraction from one side receiving substantially more attention than the other.
No points for guessing which one of course =)
Not like survivors also just got a DS buff and Blight and Ultimate Weapon nerfs. Adrenaline is the only nerf survivor got this patch.
This narrative of the devs favouring one side is complete nonsense and in no way true.

The main aspect about Adrenaline is the instant heal. The speed boost was always just a bonus. I think people are overreacting, my experience on both killer and survivor is that most impactful Adrenalines were the ones where a survivor got healed while being chased or healed from dying state.
Yeah I can agree with that. The heal is definitely the strongest aspect and it will still be a great perk. Most times when the perk activated the killer leaves them anyway so the speed boost change won’t have that big of an impact overall I think.
Honestly though my only issue with it was being healed after unhooked. As long as that change sticks I don’t care how long the speed boost is haha.
-
DS buff, Blight nerf, Ultimate Weapon nerf, Twins no longer playing around slugs, no more depips.
Honestly solo queue seems to biggest winner of this patch overall.
-
Don’t think it needed the speed boost shortened but the other 2 changes are great.
Still a really good perk but probably won’t be anywhere near as common as it is now.
-
Current BBQ is still really healthy. The blood point bonus just made it more rewarding to run (and meant it wasn't a complete waste of a slot against Distortion users).
I can kind of understand why they removed it. As long as it has such a good effect on top of an incredible blood point bonus then most people would run it and it would end up in most builds so they probably wanted more variety and people to feel less forced to run it just to deal with the BP grind.
I wouldn't mind it returning, especially since it would lead to less 4 slow down builds, but I think the general BP changes did make up for it for the most part.

They did not move anything back. The Roadmap says "March - April". We are currently in the end of march and there will be a Midchapter in April.
So I guess we will receive some bigger changes to Singularity and those are usually done in the Midchapter.
The next mid-chapter is the April-June part which Singularity still isn't a part of as far as we know (going by the updated road map).
Maybe they haven't shown us everything in that patch but so far it doesn't look like he is part of the next mid-chapter. Hopefully it's just been delayed or is a part of it but not shown.
-
Given that this patch was mostly just number changes, it’s possible they moved it back because they had something bigger than that planned for him.
Number changes won’t really fix his issues so maybe they needed more time on him? Just a guess though.

It is being changed. It's on the road map for the next mid chapter update.

I meant that everything disables in Endgame (aside from Basekit Endurance and BT). Like OTR or DS as well.
(And before you repeat it again - I know why this is the case.)
Aside from anti-facecamping, DS and OtR are the only things disabled in end game. I wouldn't call that 'everything'.
BT, Dead Hard, Buckle Up/FTP still all work. Even Deliverance isn't disabled which would have been useful in this scenario.

I'm also Australian and don't see these comments too much.
I see them occasionally but most games they are just silent.
I do see my teammates say it more frequently to the killer when I'm playing survivor though.
Usually if people say stuff like this it's best just not to respond. Although sometimes it is fun to respond overly kind and watch them struggle to figure out what to say.
-
He doesn't need a rework, his core design is actually really well designed. He's just a bit clunky and takes way too much effort for the reward he gets.
All he needs is for a slight version of Soma Family Photo to be base kit and some QoL changes to his pods to feel so clunky. Maybe some changes to make EMPs not so easy to obtain in chase.
That's all I think he needs right now.
-
So what is the best way to counter her that makes her not a bore to play against? I disarm her drones all the time but still find her miserable to go against.
-
I usually wait until he is chasing someone else before I use the spray.
If I’m getting tunnelled by a Wesker, they are usually there as soon as I’m unhooked. If I have time to spray then he’s most likely not going to bother heading over to me while he’s busy elsewhere.
-
Singularity.
-
He’s pretty meh to play against for a few reasons.
He has next to no power so there’s nothing special about playing against him. There’s no tension or feeling that either player out played the other while at the same time his snares just encourage you to predrop rather than loop so the fun aspect of a chase is not there. If he has the Dream Pallets then it’s more enjoyable but newer maps have been removing Pallet spawn locations so not many people really run it anymore.
Most Freddy’s run full slowdown and that’s boring. Can’t really blame them though, nothing else really synergies with him and any perk involving the terror radius or stealth is just useless on him.
Teammates. I think this is the main reason people don’t like him. It’s annoying watching teammates run across the map constantly to wake up instead of repairing gens or blowing up your nearly completed gen. Add on to that Freddy having full slow down and the game can take a long time to progress.
-
Just make Warden’s Keys base kit and give his add ons a complete overhaul. I think that should be enough honestly.
-
Insidious. It’s a unique idea but most of the time it’s just used for camping.

How do I manage to get devs to comment?
You can’t unfortunately. The devs don’t normally respond to balance questions.
-
Whenever you use Plot Twist, a global voice clip of Nicolas Cage shouting out “PLOT TWIST” plays for all survivors. Now there is no way anyone can ignore it.
-
Maybe. They said nearly a year ago he was on the list for some changes but he keeps getting pushed back and last we heard they are still in the ideas phase.
So we could see anything from a slight number change to a full rework anytime between now and the end of the games life.
-
Flashlights are powerful and can quickly change the outcome of the game, however I think on their own they are fine. There’s risk to using them as you aren’t repairing gens and have to be in close proximity to the killer to pull it off. If you don’t get the save you’ve wasted a fair amount of time and possibly taken a hit
I think the issue is that you can easily remove that risk with Background Player. The killer has no way to know you are there and they waste way too much time if they stop to look for you. And if you do somehow mess it up, the speed boost just gets you out of trouble and you can just run off without any harm.
I don’t think Background Player is necessarily overpowered, but it does remove the vast majority of flashlight counter play.
-
Personally I do, but maybe that's just me. Getting tips and advice from another point of view is much more helpful to me then constantly playing and never picking up what I'm doing wrong. If I keep playing I might just not pick up on the small things I've done wrong, but looking at a guide or getting someone better than me to help me out can help me figure out what my issue is how I can improve.
But if you don't find that helpful, then that is fair. Everyone learns differently.

Yes it does it tells you how to make the map more balanced for you. Ive never had a issue getting 4ks on that map really any map for that matter killer is by far the easiest its ever been. If you wanna make things easier for you play more and get good. They also weren't asking if it was a balanced map they were talking about how hard the map is for them. Here's an example of how to ask if a map is balanced.
"Do you think (map name) is balanced?"
not
"I'm not sure why, but I REALLY HATE this map as killer, and Survivors seem to really like to go there with Offerings :(
Aren't some of the loops just too safe? I feel so powerless in this map LOL"
I don't see what the real difference is. One just asks if it is balanced, the other asks if it is balanced and then gives their thoughts on it.
No crying present from what I can tell, just that they personally find it difficult and wanted to know if others did too.
And simply playing doesn't make you better. You have to actually improve from what you did wrong. Telling someone to 'get better and play more' doesn't help because they don't know how to get better. It's like telling someone who is sad to 'just be happy'. It does nothing and just seems condescending and dismissive.
Anyway, if you still disagree then I'm not going to bother discussing or derailing this thread any further.

It should stay because it's funny to do it on someone teabagging at the hatch.

The thing is, you cannot really balance her when keeping her power as it is. Unless you make it so incredinbly bad that she is the worst Killer in the game.
She would need a complete rework, and while I also think that the Devs dont know how to tackle this, I also think that they fear the backlash. And well, a minor aspect is also that you can always deny any "pay2win"-allegations, because the strongest Killer is available for free in the Main Game.
Yeah unfortunately this is true. The only way to really make her fair is a rework really.
The pay2win thing is also a possibility, but at least with Billy now being a good killer again it might alleviate some of those negotiations if she is nerfed.

The funny thing is that the Blight-Nerfs were more impactful than the Nurse-Nerfs, despite
- Blights nerf only affecting Add Ons (at least for now)
- Nurse was nerfed several times while Blight was only nerfed once (at least for now)
The sole reason for this is that Blight has to play DBD, while Nurse does not have to play DBD, she is playing a completely different game.
And while I understand that he is on the Roadmap for further changes, every Nerf to a Killer who is not Nurse is just absurd as long as Nurse gets to keep her broken state. And I hope the Devs will have the courage to change Nurse in a meaningful way at some point, because it is laughable that they only do impactful changes to the Killers who are Number 2 to Number 35 on the list, but not to the undisputed Number 1-Killer.
Yeah that’s a really good point. She’s been nerfed a lot of times but none of them really hit the reason why she is so powerful.
It feels like they don’t really know what to do with her. All of her changes are pretty much just what content creators kept claiming was her biggest issue. First she needed some cool down, then it was just her range add ons, then her combining with Starstruck. Now that everything else has been touched I hope it’s time they can finally find what her core problem is.
-
This is a pretty tough map for killers, especially stealth ones. I dread seeing it and hope it gets another update eventually.
The best thing to do on it is try not to spend too much time chasing survivors especially around the main building. Try to deplete the pallets in the centre of the map as fast as you can and play more around there. Also break the walls in the main building as soon as possible. The shack on this map is also pretty strong so I usually just leave anyone who I see trying to run me there.
-
Survivor win streak are always going to be lower than killer ones. In a killer win streak, only 1 player has to play perfectly where as 4 need to in a survivor win streak. And the fact that a comp survivor team requires 4 players where as a comp killer is just 1, it is far more likely for someone who is at the very top of the skill ladder to go against a team of their own skill when they play survivor compared to killer.
The survivor win streak could have easily gone higher if it weren’t for the fact they played really poorly against a killer at their skill level who played near perfectly. If they had played slightly better, they probably would’ve won. And I’m pretty sure they also handicapped themselves with tournament rules so they weren’t even playing to their full potential.
As for the killer streaks, yeah a streak that high is insane. The fact Nurse still hasn’t been nerfed harder than a slap on the wrist after all these years is baffling. Freddy has been nerfed harder than her multiple times.
Blight I can’t really judge yet as this streak was pretty much done in its entirety before his recent nerfs and he is in the road map for some changes so it might not possible soon enough. Hopefully these changes actually make a difference and so the devs can see how powerful Nurse can be when all the players who only play Blight because he’s top tier migrate to her.
