Hug tech was created as a band aid fix to Blight’s “rushing in place” + M2 bug. If hug tech was removed, then those bugs might have come back?
We’re also still not sure how BHVR removed bug tech. Did they extend his M2 bump hitbox down to the ground? Did they totally remove the secondary collision detection system? Did they deactivate the secondary collision detection system, for 1 frame, each time Blight pressed M2? We have zero details!
Exactly. I am very curious to see how they pull this off without making him absolutely miserable to play. I am actually kinda terrified they are going to ruin blight.
-
I wonder if they broke blight trying to take away the hug tech…
-
Interesting idea but it would take MASSIVE balancing changes, on top of being subject to abuse.
-
There is something you can do. PUSH. THEM. OUT.
-
Yea I don’t think you want that.
-
None of y'all have played Billy and it shows.
-
I bit the bullet and restarted couple years ago. Well worth it.

People will lobby shop for much less than p100. P100 doesn’t mean anything, and most people know that now. I RARELY get dodged.

generators don't feel bad for being the first one completed
The killer can feel quite bad when generators fly. Do survivors take pity on the killer? Do they actively go out of their way to make sure not to complete their objective too fast for the sake of the killer’s feelings?

Unforseen / Plaything / Dark Devotion / Nemesis … Nemesis is exchangeable but that's my build 95% of the time and it's so much fun
Only downside is nemmy has some STOMPIN ass feet. 😂😂
-
Know what would happen if BHVR did that? People would start complaining about having no new content. A good balance of both is absolutely necessary.
-
I have been having SOOOO much fun with this perk. I pair it with plaything and tinkerer and turn any killer into a stealth killer.
-
I don’t really have an issue playing against it as killer. On survivor, my flashbang save build is tied for my most used build right now.
Flashbang timing requires the survivor to be pretty close, even with BG player. This makes it incredibly easy to bait. Once you know they have bgp and/or flashbang, just be more deliberate with your pickups. They cannot linger far away and still hit the bang save, so you know they will be close. Bait the pickup and you will 90% of the time see them start to move in.
Pallets are really only a problem when it comes to coordinated teams on coms. It’s not an issue in majority of my games, maybe once every couple games somebody will pallet save with BGP. -
Every single one of those killers you listed save for Knight and to a degree clown, can be looped. Idk what people in here are talking about “we’ve been forced to hold w”… in what world??? I still loop my little heart out with Nea. I still achieve 2 and 3 gen chases consistently while traditionally looping. I don’t think it’s an issue of you being forced to hold w, but rather maybe not knowing how to loop efficiently.
Also a big reason why I main blight, hold w is so boring.
-
Sure, as soon as we add a punishment to survivors for doing gens too efficiently.
-
I mean, people have been doing this with self aware alone. It’s not new. I wouldn’t even call it an exploit or bug.
-
I mean, it does put the power on cooldown if you stun while using their power? You have to wait for it to recharge. This would be a very unnecessary change.

A casual blight and a pop/pain res/DMS/tinkerer blight are two very different creatures
that wouldn’t even be an optimal build for blight. Lol

Blight is fun to go against… until he stacks the sweatiest add-ons and slowdown perks. So it's not common to enjoy playing against Blight because most of the time they stack an S-tier killer with the strongest things ever.
To be fair, I don’t do this often… but 90% of the teams I go against bring the strongest builds + bt in a bottle, needles, BNP etc… so what’s the difference?

Then one could argue that Blight is no longer the 2nd best character in the game.
Personally, this doesn't effect me, since I don't ever play Blight, but its definitely one of the biggest Killer nerfs in DBD history. This will fundamentally change how Blight is playedKnightlight says Nurse and Billy will be the two strongest after this patch. I thought that was an interesting take.
-
This will ALWAYS be how it is with SM, unless they gut her and rework her. She is a gg “oops i tried my 4%” killer for me too.

Cowshed? Idc what map. If he doesn't 1v1 you, I'm game. lolol
haha I’m down! Love a good friendly 1v1
-
I find him much more engaging than most other killers. You have to loop and path differently against him, and a good blight will make the match feel dangerous and stressful. Also, holding W isn’t an option, which is a good thing.
Removing the hug tech is not going to change anything. If you’re getting tagged by a hug tech, you are most definitely going to get tagged by bump logic, especially if collision issues are fixed.

I am always fascinated by the cringey names Blight players come up with for anything Blight related (although Bump Logic takes the cake imo).
Ok? Weird flex I guess?..

@TheArbiter said:
Crouch tech needs to go, but why would Pluto be unfair? Blight needs to collide with objects to use his power and a survivor is not an object
A survivor can pinch you against an object that would otherwise have collision (ie, shack wall) and it breaks your collision entirely; even if you were to directly face the wall.

The BHVR touch is usually never a good one. Again, I honestly wish they would have left him as he was. I don't really get that sense of urgency and seriousness unless its Blight, Nurse or Oni. Those killers make me enjoy being a survivor in a horror game.
But you're right. They may very well just break everything. If he gets killswitched on a botched patch, Im gonna laugh so hard lol
100% agree. A REALLY good nurse can be very overwhelming and frustrating when not playing SWF.. but Oni and Blight make the most fun games. I wish more killers had sound design like Oni.

I want to state I want Blight to have his hug tech. Made chases fun and felt more rewarding when you did juke well.
But if removing it breaks Blight, he was never good to begin with. He was scaled up due to hug tech, and if thats all he has to fear, he should just be reworked or given back his hug. imo anyway
When I say “break blight”, I mean literally break him. When they have messed with collision in the past, it was a miserable buggy mess with him, some of which still has not been fixed.

Just because Blight is finally fixed doesnt mean you get to start making demands. At least not for two years or so. ;)
Oh is that the standard now?

@Krazzik said:
Hug tech needed to go because it made Blight even stronger, and he really doesn't need that. Crouch tech needs to go and Pluto tech… eh, maybe.
It does not make him stronger. Bump logic is stronger and more consistent. I think a lot of survivors have this false idea that removing the hug tech is going to completely change their chases with blight… it’s not. If you were getting tagged by hug techs before, absolutely nothing is going to change for you when they utilize bump logic instead.

I am saying it's an exploit though. And technically everything that is used in a way the devs did and do not intend is an exploit. However, the devs did not want survivors to have collision with Blight's bump (although the main reason probably was so that you wouldn't bump into them and immediately get the hit) and this is a direct consequence of it. So I'm not completely sure, if I would consider it an exploit. It would be nice have word from them. I think it's best to wait and see how Blight fares with the changes to Hug Tech and reevaluate.
I get your position and I share it for the most part. Back when they removed SkyBilly, I said, that I would be fine with it as long as they stayed consistent. Meaning, if we're going to fix exploits for the sake of them being exploits (which was the explanation on why SkyBilly was fixed), then they'd have to follow through. That's the reason I also want the CJ tech removed. It has counter play, yes, but that is besides the point. I would however be wary to fix exploits or "techs", if that means creating worse issues. And in Blight's case, I fear that might actually be the case.
The Hug Tech is a direct consequence of the safety measure that prevents him from getting stuck in place with his rushes, so if they simply remove that, then that could actually make this killer almost unplayable on some maps. At least in theory.
I was referring to the Pluto tech specifically not being an exploit. Exploits are grounds for bans no? That’s why the hug tech was not an exploit by BHVR’s rules. You could not be banned for it.
I understand survivors are not obstacles with collision.. I’m not advocating that at all. I guess I should be more specific, and clarify I’m specifically talking about being pinched against objects that should absolutely have collision, but something about the survivor pinching the blight makes him lose his ability to collide. If a survivor simply knocks me off course, fair game.I also agree there… that was a big reason I didn’t want the hug tech touched, is I fear BHVR is going to massively break blight in the process.

@Xernoton said:
I'm all for removing the crouch tech. It's silly that this has ever been a thing.
For pluto tech, I'm honestly unsure I would even classify it as a tech. The word "tech" is used to describe exploits, tolerated by the devs and the community. But blocking Blight's bump doesn't really sound like an exploit to me (it's kind of hard to explain). So, I'm honestly not sure, if it should be fixed for the sake of fixing techs. Especially considering it's one of the few things survivors can do against a good Blight and it also takes a good bit of skill to do it well enough to make a difference.
I’m not saying it’s an exploit. Hug tech was not an exploit, but it was “not intended”. I would be willing to bet a survivor being able to pinch me against a wall, breaking my collision (even if I look at the wall, it completely disables my ability to recognize collision) is not intended. Obviously, not many people have talked about this, so we don’t know the devs position on it. I like the Pluto tech, and I think it adds another layer of skill for survivors to show off, and I have only played a couple survivors who could consistently do it.
However, my point here is that the community would not look at it (including the crouch tech) with the same standard they have constantly used on the hug tech. “It rarely happens” …. “It takes skill to pull off”….. “it’s just a gimmicky tech for fun”…. All I want is consistency.
-
The Pluto tech is when you trap/bodyblock/pinch a blight on his first rush, forcing him into fatigue.

@mizark3 said:
Yes they should fix bugs. Crazy thought. Just because Blight got to live with this bug for years, maybe the next Survivor bug on the list should live an equally long time, but I'd rather they just fix them all. Especially collision on mid-air invisible hitboxes.
My guy both these things have been around awhile. They are not new. Lol

@GolbezGarlandGabrant said:
- 1) Hug Tech affects all matches with Blight, crouch tech sounds like it happens very rarely.
2) Not sure why balance adjustments need to be a tit for tat. Even so, locker tech was removed a while ago which would probably be the trade-off for these tech removals.
So it’s ok because you perceive it as “rarely happening”? Tell that to all the billy mains, who are the real victim to crouch tech.
-
Pluto tech is when you trap/bodyblock/pinch blight on his first rush, not allowing him any collision and forcing him into fatigue.

I mean I am a P100 Blight main with over 1000 hours on him. I'd be glad to show you how sweaty and boring a safety and bump logic Blight is.
Same, I’m probably at around 2000 hours with him. I constantly got compliments and positive feedback from skillful survivors on my play-style of going for insane and spicy hugtechs/moonrushes/ etc. It’s what has kept me playing DBD for this long. Without it, each loop will become very monotonous and same ole same.
-
Nope. He is strong if you put in the hours needed to touch his skill ceiling, but definitely not OP. Survivors of equal skill can put up just as much as a fight.

because these two are the only good gen slowdowns remaining, have you tried to run no slowdown against competent survivors?
I never said it’s not warranted. Perfectly understandable to run the meta, but my point still stands that it’s stale.
Yes, I run off - meta builds 90% of the time.
-
This is exactly my fear. They have broken his collision in the past trying to “fix” it. I am extremely nervous to see what exactly they have done.
-
Everybody needs a break from dbd here and there. I just took 2ish months off and came back feeling better about the game.

I’m just sick of seeing it every single match. It’s very stale gameplay.

No, I want killer mechanics to have their intended turn rate limits not be exploitable for easy hits. If a survivor made it to a safe area and turned a corner around a wall in time, you don't deserve a hit by throwing your mouse across the room, changing your dpi on the fly, or pointing your camera up to break intended turn rate limits. That is not skill expression. That is an exploit. It has been stated as such multiple times over the course of 2-3 years and they are finally fixing it. This is good.
easy hits? An Oni that can consistently and successfully pull off 180’s is rare. You sir need to go play some of these killers you want to nerf.
