I dont see any change of Builds. Seems like the Nerfs were not as severe if I see at least two of the nerfed Slowdown-Perks in every game.
You still see slowdown perks bc there is no good alt. It's not like there were any bad killer perks that got buffed along aside from the regression perks. All the Nerfs did was reduce the amount of value you get from the perks. Killers are still going to run them because they have no other options, a bunch of killer perks are just outright bad or super niche.

He looks fun tho I cant really say much more since I just havent had the time to play him. Im kinda waiting for some videos about him so I can learn how to play him. I am just not in the mind set right now to try to learn something myself. If anyone has tips and a guide to could read I would love to have that right now.

People do realise that BHVR is a business right?
They’re not laying people off because they’re evil and don’t care, they’re laying people off because either the roles have become redundant or it’s not economically feasible to keep them on.
Losing a job sucks, especially one you like, so my sympathies go out to those affected. But all the outrage over this is nonsensical.
I agree. Don't get me wrong it sucks when someone loses thier job and Im wishing them the best and hope they find a new job fast. That said this happens every single day all the round the world. Every business in the world experience layoffs just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Doesn't make the company the devil tho, it's called business. Once again my heart goes out to those who lost thier jobs but being outrage and call the company evil isn't going to get those ppl thier jobs back. Best thing to do imo is send your support to those who lost their jobs and wish them the best on find something new.
-
No, I am not going to miss it tbh. The mode was never really fun to me since most of my matches in it have been miserable.
-
The only reason I dislike the perk is because it hardly has any downtime. Yes, Im a killer main I make that clear. I have over 1400 hours in the game and currently on break bc the game has become very unfun for me. When I do play Survivor I sometimes use distortion and I rarely ever lose all my stacks. I usually have 1 or 2 stacks all match long and I see this also on Killer when there is always one survivor I never see with BBQ or Floods. The issue with distortion imo is it might as well now even have tokens bc you never will run out of them. I think the tokens should be done away with and just put a cooldown on the perk so it actually has some cooldown or just make it where stacks are harder to get. Also, I don't like how this perk counters every single info perk killer has other than two or three meh scream perks. With UW made pretty useless now killers only have aura perks that are good and all those are hard countered by one easy-to-use survivor perk.
Also, I know a few ppl say "Oh you killers don't need info, just use game sense" Oh you mean that thing the game doesn't even teach you? The thing that you have to learn on your own. Like instead of telling ppl this, how about you try to teach them by providing videos on the topic or even making videos yourself? Im tired of these players who think they are so good and will punch down at lower-skill players instead of trying to teach them to be better. Anyway, that is just my two cents about distortion. Dont think it is super powerful but I do think it has way too much uptime and is way too easy to use. If UW was too easy to use and had too much free info then distortion has the same issue as old UW it is too easy and too free.
-
Honestly now I think about it, this may be way I been having a super unfun time in DBD. Few months ago I used to play at least 2 hours a night and had fun playing random killers but now I can't even force myself to play more than 2 matches every couple of nights. The games just aren't fun. Chases usually boil down to survivors pre dropping shift w away. On top of that my matches just feel super mismatched. Like the MMR system is broke for me or something bc I rarely have a match that isn't just a stomp on either side.

Feels like hyperbole, but one can never be too sure these days.
As to your question, no I do not feel that they need a second comeback mechanic at this time. Killers already have a natural comeback mechanic via the nature of the game's design. As the match goes on, Survivors get weaker via loss of resources. Be those health states, items, gens, pallets or teammates.
Likewise, I feel that would be a disservice to Killers who are genuinely weak and in need of QoL or other buffs. This would help to disguise issues instead of addressing them in a manner that those characters deserve
There are a lot of times imo where killers do not have any way to come back if gens are done fast enough there is no way for the killer to even get a kill unless they hard tunnel or camp which survivors also fly on. For the last few days I have been sharing my personal experience with the game especially in the random perk mode where gens was done so fast before I could even get one or two hooks. For 10 games in a row one night I got a total of 2 kills and every match felt hopeless. One match was so bad that I even had a survivor saying sorry to me for the rough time I had. That match was so bad and hopeless that I just gave up with no hooks and waited at the gate to to open them. This is the first time I've seen matches like this in dbd either, in my 1400 hrs of gameplay I have had many matches where I had no hope to even get a single kill. I think both sides need a comeback system esp since the MMR system is ######### and rarely ever plays ppl in the matches they should be, where they have an even chance of winning.

With my Legion, I've been running the Fuming Mix tape and Susie's Mix tape add-ons for some guaranteed Slow down and information. You could give those add-on a try if you haven't already yet. But even with those equipped, I've found it's still an up hill battle to win in this mode with Legion.
I've also discovered a new found appreciation for Stolen Sketch Book and I'll put that on instead of Susie's if I see a lobby full of beamers.
The only Killer I've done well with is Billy, but I suspect that's mostly because he's strong enough to win a lot of trials with no perks equipped at all.
I wish I could play and enjoy Billy but his controls make me furious. He the only killer in the game that makes me angry when Im play him bc of how he controls. I may try those addons on legion but honestly, I just feel any low-tier killer isn't going to be fun in this mode. Most likely why I dislike it so much bc I mostly only like playing B and C-tier killers.
-
This was close to what I saw last night when I was playing in the mode. In the 10 matches I did, I got a total of 2 kills. A lot of the matches were done really fast even when I was playing hit and run and leaving chases to look at gens. I have over 1400hrs in the game and if you looked at my matches last night you would thought I had 100hr. Honestly, I still don't understand and get the hype around the random perk mode. Almost even the perk I got as killer was completely useless 90% of the time. If anything this mode has shown me that the only good perks killer has are info and slowdown. The rest are trash imo.

It's not new, it's apparently been around for years. Dowsey said he used to be a consultant. People wondering who has been a part of it and what, exactly, it's influence has been on the game isn't surprising. At least imo.
On top of that Peanits even said in this thread it's been around since the game's release. Honestly, with this fact, I am pretty sure nothing major will change bc this program has been around for years and we still got things like SM and the PTB Twins rework. I bet we continue to see BHVRs poor out-of-touch decision-making years to come even with the knowledge of who is in this program.

I love Unknown but Chaos Shuffle doesn't seem to do them many favours. They need some combo of info+stealth but here I am rolling Distressing >.>
I admit most of my struggles last night may because of chaos shuffle but I have to say I had problems with unknown since they came out. I can't aim thier grenade save for my life.
-
So I can't say much about the survivor side since Im a killer main but I personally just like better matchmaking and maybe a comeback system for both sides. So I just had a really rough night last night as a killer where I miserably lost pretty much all my matches(I got maybe two kills in ten games). A lot of these matches just went so fast in terms of gens popping(I want to say this was in the random perk mode so I couldnt use slowdown. In fact the mode only gave me one slowdown out of 10 matches and it was M.storm). I even had a survivor say sorry a match was so bad. Honestly, I wanted to afk/quit in a lot of these matches bc they was so one sided and was fun at all. I just think MMR in this game is some of the worst in any other game. I have far fewer one-sided matches in games like Overwatch 2, and Hunt. I also agree with others that the soloq for survivors such be made better somehow. Overall I just personally think one-sided matches and the feeling of hopelessness are the biggest causes for ppl to either afk or DC from matches.

I don't see the problem with this. It comes across as a playtester role, which many games already have. It makes sense overall.
At no point has there been anything saying that these people are solely consulted for changes, and Fog Whisperers and regular folk like ourselves also have avenues to give feedback that has evidence to show it was listened to. Fog Whisperers were always primarily advertisers with benefits, but their feedback also would have been considered.
In terms of feedback, if anything the only issue I have is PTBs is solely for PC. Of course I'm sure there's a logistical reason for this, but it's a shame console players aren't involved. At least changes are made after the full release, based on future feedback.
Lol, I don't see any benefits of being fog whisper nowadays. The program does nothing that benefits the streamer imo other than getting a very small number of dlc codes and a few Aura cells which most big streamers don't even need or care for. FW program imo is completely useless and does nothing anymore. Dev themselves haven't done anything for FW for over a year. When was the last time they added new ppl to the FW program? If it helped smaller streamers then sure that's amazing but most FWs are already well-known in the community and those are the ones who usually get picked for events when they happen(I don't even know the last time such an event.) From what I have seen FW only benefits BHVR bc it's free PR and advertisement for them. It does hardly anything for the streamer imo. I think dev undervalues the FW program and doesn't use it well enough. There are a lot of great ppl in the program who want to help out when comes to balance and giving feedback but is largely ignored like Otz and Spookyloopz.
-
I played them tonight and lost pretty much every single match. It was with random perks but unknown by far my least favorite killer now I think. I rather play singu tbh xD
-
Iva learn that I just hate this game right now and how bad I am…every single match in this mode has been miserable. Tonight I played 10 games and lost every single one and they all was one sided matches where 2 or 3 gens was done before I could get a single down. I didnt still in one chase either mind you, I would leave chase if it went to long. For someone with over 1000 hour I feel miserable how bad I really am and I have no clue how to get better. Its not like there good guides that could help me in the dumb game… I wish I didnt spend so much money and time in dbd right now. That what I ahve learned from this mode.
Edit: sorry for negativity... I had a rough night back to DBD and it was miserable and honestly I don't want to play any more. Ppl say how great this game mode was so I wanted to give it another real shot and I honestly really hate it. It not fun and I honestly hate 90% of the perks killer have.
-
Personally I don't blame Spookyloopz and other fog whisperers for being upset over this announcement. Like most of us know they are a ambassador program but so many of them wants to see the game be better from a balance aspect and they deserve to be heard. After this announcement all it really done is shown the community and even fog whisperer how useless thier program really is. There no reason honestly to even have the FW program imo, it just free PR for the game and imo DBD doesn't deserve free PR. The devs should pay ppl to promote thier game and do more than just hand out small amount of dlc codes (which I know from watching Otz he has to beg for more codes since he always given so little to begin with) and few aura cells every month.
I honestly believe the devs themselves have mostly forgotten about the FW program as well. Here a question, when was the last time they added new fog whisperers to the program? I saw on Twitter weeks ago that they haven't added anyone new for over a year now. On top of that I can't remember the last time FW had some event either. I'm all honesty I think the program is undervalued and underoptimize. I for one think FWs could be treated alot better by the devs and givens more perks than what there is now.
The worst thing devs did was making this consultant group public knowledge because it really shows how useless and meanless the fog whisperer program really is. If they did away with the fog whisperer program tomorrow nothing would change, that how much impact this program has imo on the game and the community.

The Program IS good. And it benefits the Devs and also the players. Because there are some solid people in the program (from what we know).
What might be problematic is making it public, since it might draw negative attention to people who are in it. Sure, everyone can decide for themselves if they want to be open about it, but I have already seen some communities from Streamers questioning why some people are in the program and why their favorite streamer is not in the program.
Like I agree that it's a good thing they have this program but I'm not convince it's making any difference. As we learned this program isn't new, it been around since the beginning. If this true then why did we get things like the twins rework, skull merchant, eruption, ECT? To me it's either because none of the consultants rose questions about these decisions or they did and devs just didn't listen to them. If it's the first then I question the quality of consultants they have hand picked. If it's the 2nd then I have to asked what is the point of even having this program of you not going to listen to the ppl you picked and hired.
Lastly I also agree with you about making this public. In my opinion i haven't seen anything good come from this announcement. In fact I agree alot with Spookyloopz had to say in his stream where he announced he was leaving the fog whisperer program.

Fog Whisperer’s aren’t for balance purposes, they are there to promote the game be a positive representation of the community. They get free access to in game goodies and can give them away as gifts to their viewers encourage engagement.
We also don’t know if any of those Fog Whisperer’s are Consultants either. I don’t think some content creators like Otz would even want to have this be visible considering how much blame he received when STBFL got nerfed.
You telling me nothing I already know. I always knew FW program was purely a PR program. That's not really my point here. Im just saying I can fully understand why a few FWs are upset about the whole consultant thing and I sympathize with them. Take spookzloop, he truly cares about the game and he wants to help out so badly but making the whole consultants thing public he felt was a slap in the face to the fog whisper program.

to be fair, these people then probably have just misunderstood the whole point of the Fog Whisperer program and yeah if they expected to have more impact on balance changes etc and only joined the FW program for that they really should leave the FW.
But.. are we sure Otz isn’t part of the Consultant program? He wasn’t allowed to say anything up until now. But he is generally considered to give constructive feedback I think and should at least be on the devs radar for this program as well.
I feel Otz if was a part of it he would tell us. Hens and Tofu both have come out saying their apart of the program and I believe Lilith also have came out last night as one as well. I still think it was a bad move of the devs part for even come out publicly about this program. It has caused more harm than good imo putting this info out there. I think it would been better if the consultant program and ppl apart of it stayed unknown.

it’s not the first charm like that. There is a charm only for devs, one for fog whisperers and one for social media moderators I think. Also the Twitch charm and shirts. So this is really nothing new..
But it’s really random to have this crow be the charm for this program - I don’t see the connection??
Yeah, it's nothing new but doesn't mean I have to like it or think it's dumb. I also think all those other things are really dumb as well. All it does is create the feeling of being left out of something. That crow charm could be something everyone could have since it has nothing to do with the program. At least the FW charm is their logo and that makes sense.

It kind of makes sense now, with some recent Fog Whisperers leaving and popular streamers quitting the game. I wonder if they found out about the program and felt left out?
I don't mind such a program existing, but I just hope the people involved are a mix of killer and survivor players, are unbiased, and are putting the playerbase ahead of their own monetary (ie content) desires.
Yeah, I don't mind the program existing but I do feel bad for the Fog Whipersers who want to make a difference and then found out that BHVR already has a group for feedback. Like for years now Otz has been saying he has been msg devs about changes and feedback, the devs according to him have an FW channel in the discord server for this and now they found out all this. I bet few of them feel like all these years their feedback meant nothing at all. Honest I think FW are unoptimized and purely treated. I don't blame Spookyloopz and others for leaving a program where they don't feel like they are under valued. I have thought for a long time now that FWs should just leave the program to make a statement. I know I wouldn't want to be just some mouthpiece or PR person for this game.

Lame that the crow charm is exclusive to this system, but I trust the DBD content creator space infinitely more than BHVR, so this is a net positive in my book.
I don't know how others feel but I do think it's dumb that they get an exclusive charm esp since they getting paid as well. Personally I dont care that much about the crow charm but I think its silly to give things like this to a small number of players who just happens work for you as well. It just creates more FOMO and stuff for ppl to complain about. Just my two cents on that matter tho.
-
I think making all this public was a really bad move on the devs part. I watched spookyloopz VOD about him leaving the FW program and I agree with him. Making this public only makes the Fog Whisper program look like the lesser of the two and as someone else said on this thread, you know have ppl asking the question "Why is X in this? Why isn't Y in this program? Where is my favorite content creator?" etc. Im glad they have ppl who actually play the game to test things but making this public was a dumb move imo. No one really needs to know who is or isnt on this team. Like I didnt need to know Hens was on a playtesting team, that doesn't change anything imo.

Maybe I've just been getting more favorable matches, but I think the lack of gen slowdown is balanced a little by survs not being able to control whether they have exhaustion perks or other strong options like Deli or Unbreakable. 4 Toolboxes is always scary, but I honestly feel like I've got more going for me than before considering I hardly ever run more than one or at most two slowdown perks at a time.
But yeah, sometimes you have your bad games where the survs bring out the big guns itemwise and get good perks, meanwhile the game gives you Shattered Hope for the third time in a row (seriously what were the chances of that) although I'd say the fact this is a more casual mode has generally just decreased the feeling to rush all the time. It's part of why I'm slowly warming more and more up to the idea of a casual and ranked que.
Well guess I just have had the worst luck then bc 90% of matches have felt like uphill battles as killer and honestly it no different from normal in how stressful and bad it feels to lose to that. I think that is why I don't like the idea of casual or ranked bc no more what mode you que for 90% of your matches will still feel the same and feel unfair/unfun. I don't mind losing don't get me wrong but I hate losing when the match is completely one-sided. I feel the same way about winning as will, it not fun to win a one side match either. My matches in the new mode still felt like making matches in normal. Competely one-sided match where all the fun was sucked out in mere minutes of loading in.
Its the main reason I dont play dbd as much anymore and playing OW2 more. My matches for the last year have felt the same and this new mode nothing really has changed. It used not feel like this, when I started playing back when the first RE chapter came out, my matches felt even and fun. I used to have so much fun and could play for hours. Now I can barely do one single match before I say ######### it and log off. I dont know if its because Im a high mmr or its because I have over 1000s hours but the game just isnt fun for me and I hate it so so so much. I want to have fun with dbd, I want to play it but the results is always the same when I try to play it…
-
I don't see how ppl see chaos shuffle as a semi casual mode. All my matches in that mode felt the same as normal. The only difference was I didn't need to worry about the survivor meta perks as much but I still had to deal with the best items(medkits and toolboxes) in almost every single match I did as killer. In fact I found it more stressful than normal on killer. So I dont understand from my own exp why ppl say this more casually. Maybe for survivors since you don't have to deal with 4 slowdowns? However none of my survivors has to deal with that with me since I never run more than 2 slowdowns in all my builds in normal dbd anyway.
-
@ArkInk said:
There's a lot less stress and responsibility while playing since you don't really get to decide your kit before going in, I'm hooked tbh
Really? I found the mode more stressful especially as killer. Alot of my matches as killer while I was trying to finish the challenge felt just as stressful and sweaty as normal DBD. Sure I didn't have to deal with some of the annoying survivor perks but most groups still came in with the best medkits and toolboxes. Gens still felt like they flew by. I was so stressed out honestly especially when I got perks like insidious...
-
Cool. I still really don't understand why ppl love this mode so much but I'm happy for them. I know alot of ppl love this modifier. Personally tho my matches didn't feel anymore different in this mode vs normal matches. Maybe I'm just so burnt out that even this mode isn't fun for me.
-
I wouldnt mind seeing it made permanent but I honestly don't get the hype for it. I played for a whole day and all my matches felt the same as the normal mode, unfun sweatfests matches where gens flew by and I ended matches with 3 hooks on average. I try my best to enjoy it but honestly, nothing felt different… As said tho I wouldn't mind if it stay as long as the devs don't put challenges in the mode to force ppl to play it.
-
Mostly m1 killers... Kinda sad bc I keep seeing so many people who having a blast with the random mode but I have to say I have the compete opposite experience. Super unfun matches were I just don't preform well at all. Honestly nothing feels different different between this mode and normal DBD. They both feel so sweaty and unfun :-/
-
I wouldn't mind Chaos Shuffle being part of the game forever but I cant say I enjoyed the mode myself. A lot of my matches had been really unfun. That's just my exp with the mode tho since I know others have been enjoying it.
-
I don't play them at all but again I never got the hype over unknown. I never found them fun to play mostly bc I hate lob projectiles in games. These types of projectiles are always extremely easy to dodge and hard to aim correctly. Either way Unknown was the first chapter in a long time where I wasn't excited to play since I hated the killer so so so much.
-
There are two major reasons Im not excited for the new chapter. One was that this last mid-chapter was so boring and bad that it really killed my enjoyment of the game altogether. Twins is still boring twins, bugs and rubberbanding, and just bad matches. As for the other reason Im just not familiar with DND. I never played it or knew anything about it. The closest exp I have with DND is playing BG3 for like 5 hours and that it.

That's an opinion though. I personally like the twins a lot. The tag team aspect of this character is incredible and leaves a lot of space for creative gameplay. Victor Airlines also exists.
Some people like them, others don't.
I love Pig. Others despise her.
That's no reason to call for a character to be erased.
It's funny, I have never seen twins as a tag team. To me, for them to be a tag team would mean both of them would pose a threat and that is just not true. Victor is the real killer bc he is the only one who has any lethality to him whereas Charlotte is just a boring power m1 killer who is just there to pick up her brother's downs. This is one of the major reasons I hate playing them is bc you are forced to play Charlotte for 30 seconds after every successful injury(if the survivor holds on to victor which happens a lot at least in my few games as them). I just do not see them the way others do. This is why I have been saying that wish Charlotte herself was just a little more interesting to play.
-
I just wish they could do a middle ground. If 30% is too high and we already know 20% was to low then why not try pop at 25%? Even better just make it 20% total progress like how it used to be instead of being current.
-
It isn't going to change a thing. In fact it most likely make killer builds even more slowdown focus. To survivors surprise not all of us run 4 slowdown perks but with these nerfs you most likely going to see it even more. You may even see even more slugging, camping and tunneling.
For example in all my builds I use at max two slowdown but going forward I think I'm going to have to add a 3rd or even a 4th thanks to these nerfs. The meta going to get even more staler and guess what survivors are continue to complain about slowdown perks bc new flash they have always hated slowdown. Survivors use to complain about Ruin and undying meta. Nothing going to change.
-
I have never liked using deadlock. It's a type of perk where I never feel like I get value from it. I most likely have but it never felt like it to me. Also, I still remember that one time a group of survivors bypassed my last deadlock by doing two gens at the same time and it caused me to lose the match bc I got so tilted about it. Ever since then I just stopped using it. That said the Nerf is making me want to run the perk even less XD
-
@Xernoton said:
I'm surprised how short-sighted these changes are. I mean, do you honestly think this will change things for the better? We'll either have people double down on slowdown perks, which will increase the pick rate of these perks even more because 1 or 2 slowdown will not be enough or people will create their own meta. I see hardcore slugging, tunneling and camping on the horizon. Even more than now.
That is how I feel as well. All my killer builds run just two slowdowns at max, I don't like stacking more than that but with these nerfs I'm afraid Im going to be forced to run a 3rd or even a 4th slowdown. These changes aren't going to change the pick rates of these perks or make a new meta, they are just going to make ppl double down on slowdowns and make ppl who usually run a few slowdowns run even more to make up for the nerfs. They could at the very least buff some of the weaker perks but we didn't even see that here.

You don't even need to check the basement, just let them use the perk and they would be doing you a big favor.
Yeah but just wait till they make more of these and they stack. I have no doubt in my mind they will make one of these OP and it will be meta.
-
Fine by me, I hope ppl continue to not run this perk mainly bc I don't want to start having to check the basement as killer. I HATE the basement as killer, I don't even hook in there if I can avoid it. Its a waste of my time and I dont want to feel like I have to check every game bc of one perk. Its the one reason I dont like the idea of invocation perks.

and lets not forget yes bg3 was a brilliant game and i think we will not see such a masterpiece in our lifetime but that is irrelevant cause this is dbd x dnd not dbd x bg3.
sure bg3 is based on dnd and has the monsters and classes from there but there is like a million things in dnd that wasnt in bg3 and that could be part of that crossover so even knowing dnd through bg3 isnt really helping cause i gues if its a dnd killer it will be some big character of one of the campains like vecna or straht
See I don't know anything about Ben a or straht. Honestly my inexperience about DnD is keeping me from being to excited. Since I know little to nothing about it, I have no clue what killer will be or anything.

I understand your point in MMR being inconsistent, and because of that it feels unfair to gauge certain things. But I think the problem with that reason is that it completely shuts down any hope for compromise, understanding or conversation. It feels like a way to shut down anything. Someone could say "Well MMR doesn't work" as a justification for literally anything in the game.
So I ask, in your opinion, If solutions can't be accepted to problems with reasoning being the inconsistency of MMR, how could the game or the people that play the game move forward?
All I'm trying to do is bring the attention to that everyone doesn't experience the same thing in this game and the MMR system needs to be improved. I just don't like seeing the comment of "Well I can win my matches with no slowdown perks, so you can also" That just not true at all. Someone of us do need the extra help do to either different skill levels, MMR issues, and etc.

I don't breathe dbd. I just played it for a long time at this point.
I have reduced the time I put into dbd a lot recently because other games felt more rewarding for the free time I spend to play (which is often limited).
Mmr does often not work properly. However, you also have to take into account, that in dbd, your load out regulates the outcome of a match a lot. People can be at your skill level (whatever that means) and completely stomp you. Not because they where better than you (again, whatever that means) but because they braucht way better stuff than you.
This way, one can be beaten by people that are a lot worse at the game. Dbd is not balanced around "skill". It's balanced around kills and escapes and however these come to be. These kills and escapes often have nothing to do with skill.
If slowdown becomes more in line with other perks and other problems are also looked at (toolboxes, early game for killer, huge power gaps between killers). Then mmr would probably work a lot better because people would not get carried this hard.
What you want is for everything to remain the same because you want to consistently win. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I want that the game is in a better spot, where the outcome is not decided by the preequipped load out and more one the plays that happen in game.
I never said I wanted the game still the same. My post was to being you and others to the attention that not everyone has the same matches or experiences as y'all and some of us do need help from slowdown perks. Take myself for example, at max I run two slowdown perks because that was comfortable with and how I learned this game. Even with this tho this past year I have had the most inconsistent matches. At the beginning of last year did you know I was able to reach irl 1 consistently and my win rate was around 60%-70%. Then sometime along this past year something changed where I stop getting into irl rank all together and my matches hay felt miserable. Now my win rate dropped around 40% to 50% and I started seeing more one-sided match.
That was my experience with two slowdown. I can only imagine what my experience will be after these nerfs. Now I feeling like I may even have to add a third slowdown. That's a change I don't want to do either since I don't want to play with alot of slowdown but it's going to feel like I'm going to have to if I want to stand a chance for consistent matches.
Either way I think it's unfair to use your experience with the game and assume everyone is having the same experience as you. Your matches are not mine. Also your skill level isn't mine either.

Here my problem some of this. You said killer need to improve but my issue is there no resources in game to help killers learn the skills you list. The in game tutorial does nothing other than teach you the bare minimum and I be honest I hate looking up videos someday bc alot of them are out of date bc the game has changed so much over the past few years. You have to put in more time looking for a guide than actually playing the game.

I don't know…why do I get matched as killer to either potato survivors or god loopers survivors. I rarely get a match somewhere in the middle...MMR system in this game sucks imo.

The most critically acclaimed game of 2023 was based around DnD (BG3), I'd expect at least a passing knowledge of something given that fact.
That doesn't mean every single person have knowledge about DND. Is it really that surprising? Lord of Rings was super popular as well and I have met ppl who knew hardly anything about the series. Yeah they knew so well known names but that it. Take me for example, I know BG3 and even own it but I haven't got the time to fully play it and if I based this chapter on that knowledge then all I would know is the killer would be a mindflail since the only thing I know from BG3 xD
As I said just because something super popular doesn't mean every single person knows what it's about.

We know that it's DnD themed, that's it.
Do you know how much cool ######### exists within DnD??
Honestly, I don't…I never played DnD since I never had any to play it with and never really got into it. I know almost nothing about dnd. I dont think it surprising a good chuck of ppl are unfamiliar with dnd in the dbd community since both games kinda in two different genres. Dbd is more or less based around horror while DnD is more or less based around fantasy.

Have to agree here.
Nobody NEEDS to run pop and pain res. Im playing without them on Pig and Sadako for months and i perform absolutely fine. Not just these two. Plague, Nemesis, Singularity, Xeno and Legion have also worked out absolutely fine so far.
People are just tooo afraid to go out of their comfort zone.
If slowdown doesnt help you, maybe take aura and chase? Natural slowdown does exist.
As I said to pulser and someone else, these comments come from a place of "well if I can do it you can too." Which isn't true at all. Not everyone is at the same skill level and perform the same. Everyone has strengths and weakness when it comes to gaming. Just because you and pulser can win games with little to no slowdown means I can or someone else can. I don't believe everyone can achieve the same level of skill. There to many factors like physical and mental states, time, and overall mind set. Some of us don't eat, drink and breathe DBD. The avg player will most likely only play few hours and night or week.
Here the bestest issue and I will continue to say this, the MMR system doesn't not allows pair you up with similar skill players. In fact in my case MMR system barely works because 90% of my matches are completely stomps. Very rarely I get a match that feel good and fun.
Ultimately my issue with comments like yours is that they seem to come from a idea that everyone can achieve the same level of skill and play as you and I honestly believe that simply not true.

Your long reply is warranted, as it is a nuanced topic. I appreciate you giving it the attention and thought it deserves.
I intentionally specified four slowdown perks. The average player, ideally, should be playing against the average Survivor. We must assume as much or else things get….very messy very fast. Realistically, you do not need four slowdowns, you should probably be bringing one regression and one perk like Corrupt or DMS; then an info or a chase perk or whatever you want to bring and I think that's totally fine.
Killer strengths do vary wildly, but I actually find that to be fairly endearing. I love playing low-tier Killers and getting good enough to win most of my matches. Granted, I'm clearly a psychopath; who else would have spent 6 years on DBD lmao, but I do genuinely enjoy playing Killers like Freddy or GF or Myers simply because it's hard-mode.
I don't think BGP is stronger now. It essentially functions as Sprint Burst, same speed and everything. The halved CD isn't gonna matter unless the Killer is stomping you, two downs in twenty seconds or less is insanely fast.
The issue is I dont think the average killer is always playing against average survivors in this game at all. I agree killers should be fine with one or two slowdowns as long as they pair with ppl equal to their own skill but there lies the biggest issue I have with dbd, its mmr system. I have been saying for over a year now that the MMR system is too lax when pairing players and most games are completely one side and rarely even.
As I said tho, Im fine with the nerfs since yall pretty minor but if this is supposed to change the meta it's not. Ppl will always run slowdown and just nerfing slowdown is only going to force players like me to run more than two slowdowns since its going to feel like we have too to make up for the nerfs. I just wish the weaker killer perks were given some love or reworks as well.
I don't consider myself a great player, I see myself as an average player who just wants to log in once in a while and play a killer I enjoy. Im not looking to master any of them or get too "high" mmr. I believe I reached my skill cap and Im happy with that. Im not once who wants to stress about such things, I play games to have fun and relax. I just don't want to lose matches so badly that Im not having fun. Getting completely stomped and only getting 3 hooks before all gens competed is miserable

Gen slowdown is a crutch that gets you undeserved wins, which then catapults you to high MMR where you can't cope without gen slowdown because you haven't developed the skills to play without slowdown. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I've never needed significant gen slowdown. At most, Thrilling Tremors or Call of Brine, which come with info attached so I can pressure gens myself, which is how you're supposed to play.
Meanwhile every game I play against a killer with significant slowdown (usually Pop Pain Res, like 90% of the time) is an absolute massacre of a game that they probably would have done well in without the slowdown.
The problem i have with your post is your assuming everyone can achieve your level of skill. I can tell you right now as someone who plays this game casually and consider myself a average player I have honestly reached my perk on skill for this game after 1400hr of playtime. Also you talk like the MMR system is some super accurate system that pairs ppl of similar skill levels. As a savage killer main who at max uses only two slowdown perks and try to never tunnel, slug or camp that my matches never feel like they are even matches. 90% matches of my matches are completely one sided where I either get a 4k at 4 gens or I get my butt handed to me and at most I get maybe 1-3 hooks. In fact that is one of major reasons I stop playing bc almost all my matches for a long time was miserable and not fun no matter what killer I played.

They didn't need four gen regression perks, most people just want the easiest possible match.
Nothing will change except more bad Killers will complain after having crutched on gen regression perks.
Tho I agree with you, you don't need four slowdown perks but one or two still feel require if you want a chance to win consistently on low tier killers esp if you just a average or casual player. The reason I say average or casual is I sure your come back will be "well I don't need slowdown to win my matches." I wouldnt consider you a avg player either base on how much I seen you on here and how you reply to threads. I believe you probably a really skilled killer but not everyone is as skilled as you or others and how MMR system is in this game we rarely ever go against ppl similar in skill level. DBD isn't like games like ow2 or other multiplayer games where MMR systems are finely tuned to try to pair others of similar skill sets. I have mentioned in my past posts that matchmaking has been miserable for me and is the main reason Im not playing right now since my matches have been completely one-sided(I either win at 4 gens or lose miserably with just few hooks) and not fun. Personally I have to run at least two slowdown myself, if I don't my games always go way to fast and I usually I'm lucky I get one or two hooks
Anyway I got little off topic. Imo the real issue is the fact that gap in killer strengths is to wide where multiple slowdown perks on a Freddy or Trapper doesn't feel all that bad but multiple slowdown perks on a nurse or blight is way too oppressive. That why balancing regression perks will always be the hardest thing to do in DBD and like it or not the game is balance with the idea a killer is running at least one or two of them.
I'll end this with one last thing, personally I'm fine with these nerfs since most of them are really minor. I do think pop is getting over nerf but it most likely going to be fine. My biggest complaint this update is fact killers didn't get any compensation for these nerfs. Killers didn't get any buffs to thier weakest perks or anything. Meanwhile every change to survivor perks(outside DS) was either a buff or side grade. Take BGP sure it's getting nerf to 150% but it also has it CD halved meaning you get to use it more. Some even saying it could better and stronger now. Sorry for the long reply.
-
Personally I'm fine with the nerf/buff. I mainly like the idea of having my power up more since it's at a 12s CD now. Some of favorite things as Chucky is sneaking up on ppl and hitting them. I honestly never use the scramble and then slice&dice combo that much. I know ppl want the 180 flicks back but I'm indifferent to that since I can't flick on anyone and honestly I don't want to feel like I have to do well on a killer. The main reason I hate playing oni is because I feel flicking is a requirement and it's just something I'm physically can't do since I don't have the reflexs and mouse speed/space.
