  • Yeah they are extremely slow when it comes to fixing OP stuff on the side of killer. Survivor on the other hand, I could see MFT being nerfed next patch. Alls it takes is an otz video and they nerf survivor stuff.

  • There is a close to zero percent chance they take time to nerf her after just changing her. Think about how long it takes them to make changes right now, you are looking at at least a year before they do anything to her.

  • I record statistics for my games and I play the best build possible (for solo survivor), this perk doesn't even make the list. I could see it being decent in SWFs, but the vast majority of players play alone.

  • I think dailys are an attempt to get you to play the other side. Nearly all of my rituals are killer rituals, because I play 99% survivor matches. I suspect it's the opposite for killer mains. Problem is, I tend to just reroll them until I get a ritual for survivor.

I think they are a little outdated, but I am sure for some people they accomplish their intention. Which is to get them to interact with the other side of dbd.

  • The perk only activates if the killer is looking directly at you, is within 36 meters, and has nothing obstructing that view of you. It's a pretty dead perk at the moment. I think this thread is better suited in the Feedback and Suggestions category, the perk is not bugged, it's just a dead perk right now.

Bloodlust was invented so that killers could catch up to survivors who run at base 100% speed, because there were ways to navigate the map that nullified the +15% speed advantage most killers have. Bloodlust also resets at breaking pallets (which are everywhere) or hitting survivors or losing chase for 5 seconds, so it's usually an extremely temporary buff that survivors can easily play around unless they're in a dead zone.

+3% speed for the low low cost of holding the run button whenever you want is not comparable.

I believe the original argument for bloodlust was actually infinites, but there are few to none of those left. They added bloodlust to remove situtions where killers could be looped forever. But, all of the loops where this was possible have been since removed.

I think now with how high the kill rate is, is a good time to remove bloodlust if they wanted to. Or at least make it so bloodlust can't be chained to unsuspecting survivors.

  • Yeah I do apologize. I go out of my way to break 3 gens that trappers are setting up as early as possible. I have all of the hard trapper challenges completed so I know how annoying it is to have your web get disrupted. xD

I win a fair bit on both sides - It's generally a coin toss.

I'll probably lose a bunch later today doing the Sabo 3 hook tome challenge, but that's a necessary sacrifice to be a tome completionist T_T

I don't have an issue with anyone being scummy on either side either - IE Letting Survivor 3 die on hook if it is impossible to escape otherwise to try for hatch, tunneling, etc. It's the reality of the game - It's not going anywhere.

I actually read/show stuff on the forums when I'm talking to my friends and they are usually pretty interested in the variety of experiences people have on either side. The end game chat is also pretty interesting for them as they see my viewpoint throughout the game compared to what other people say happened during the match.

One of my friends said she thinks DBD is the most popular 'unplayable' game on the planet @_@

I find that I enjoy the game when I am doing challenges but the second I try to just play the base game, I struggle to not pull my hair out.

I don't like killer period, so when I do play it the experience is the same whether I am losing or winning. I like funny survivors but that is very rare. Most only care about juicing you and the rest are people hiding in the corner.

Nothing drives me nuts more than stealth players in this game though. Especially the ones who are doing it to a point where it actually costs you the game. If I am playing killer and there are only two people left, one who hid the whole game, and one who played normally. I will go out of my way to get hatch for the player who played normally, and murder the person who stealthed all game.

    Ok.

I am saying I have fun.

I stream the game after work in Discord and just talk to my friends/do tome challenges while playing alone.

I have done all the challenges, most of the 'hard' achievements, etc.

I let people live a lot as killer, and sometimes throw the killer a bone if they got stomped.

I don't use items, and rarely use strong add-ons.

I genuinely play to have a good time and/or kill time

    Am I a killer main?

No but it sounds like you also don't care about winning and I think that's the only way you can enjoy the game right now. And as someone who does care about winning, this isn't the game for me right now.

My bad - I thought OP said that the only people disagreeing and saying they could have a good time as solo survivor are people not actually playing survivor / are killer mains.

If you go back and read, every time I call someone out for being a killer main they either ignore it or leave the thread. Every single solo survivor main in here, agreed with me that they aren't having fun in the current meta.

    Of course.

So because you can have a good experience as killer doesn't mean solo survivors having a bad time is valid?

So everyone else in here who said survivor is not fun right now is wrong because killer mains say they are?

It's not scary...it's just mostly annoying/frustrating now, lol.

Speaking of kill rates....it has been almost a year since we last saw kill rates. Something like kill rates (and perk usage) should be shared quarterly. If not just to give us insight into BHVRs direction for the game. And to keep not as useful data from outside sites from entering the conversation.

I would wager we won't see another one until after killers get nerfed. I would wager its somewhere between a 65-70% kill rate atm.

But I that's how horror movies work. DbD is intended to play out like a horror movie

Most horror films have one survivor called the final girl. It's a trope.

The statements made by BHVR specifically was they wanted the survivors to be "afraid" of the killer and that kill rates were too low. At no point were movies mentioned. My question is are they high enough now? What kill rate are they going for? I think they went way overboard, it feels like trash to play solo survivor right now.

I'd say my play is pretty even across survivor/killer, if not a little more surv than killer. We've just had different experiences lately, I suppose. Not saying you're wrong, just that I (and others) have had a different time.

Idk, the only people I see disagreeing with my statement of survivor being unfun right now is the people not playing survivor. It's very easy to tell when someone is a killer main.

I think we're on opposite ends as far as to who is fighting the uphill battle. It seems to me that survivors can make more mistakes and still come out on top. Against a good group of survivors there's very little room for error on the part of killer. A long chase or a missed opportunity can often snowball into a 0K or 1K match.

The only killers I see get a 1 or a 0K are killers who genuinely give up. If you play the entire match as killer and don't give up, you will secure at least a 2k no matter who you play against. And I think it's important to remember this thread is focusing on solo survivors which the game SHOULD be designed around. Because the vast majority of DBD players are soloQ survivors. Instead the game is balanced around SWFs, and killers body anyone who isn't a coordinated team. It feels a lot like people making similar statements to yours haven't played very much survivor in the past year.

Massive amounts of copium here. Gen regression is horrendous, both with base stats and with perks. A survivor does a gen 4 times faster than it regresses. It is the worst it has ever been.

Okay but whose running base regression builds. Were talking about Pop, Jolt, Scourge... etc. It is extremely easy to camp a 3 gen and win every game. The only person who appears to be coping is you, the game literally has never been easier for the killer. The statistics back that up that fact. If you were to ask any survivor worth their salt what the issues are they would 100% bring up gen regression.

  • The fact that wiggling is almost entirely useless baseline kind of means hooking is way too easy. There are on average 3-4 hooks that you can bring a survivor when they are downed and make it just fine. You should be punished for protecting one area of the map and or camping one hook.

Because right now, you are talking about a situation that happens maybe once every 20 games. I personally think baseline the same hook should immediately become unusable for 1 minute after someone is unhooked.

I don't have a problem with removing permanent hook interactions. But using the same hook over and over again especially if it's a scourge hook, is way too easy. Honestly this one simple change of having a cool down on hooks could kill camping on its own.

Meanwhile soloQ streamers are struggling getting to 10 game streaks these days.

Just about every time streamers go for streaks they run hatch builds, so they are planning on losing from the start.

What in particular do you see as wrong with the meta? Personally I don't think it's worse than it has been in the past. Seems to be in a decent place ATM.

I feel like survivors have entirely given up. If the killer decides to do 1 of 5 things they tend to win automatically and survivors know this. Instead of playing the game out and losing they choose to just leave early and go next. I feel like once the games over now it's just over, there is no coming back in DBD on the survivor side. The killer can come back at any point and eek out kills, but survivors tend to be fighting an uphill battle the entire time.

The game seems very forgiving when it comes to playing killer. While it feels extremely punishing on the side of survivor. Even when it comes to earning pips and blood points, killer is much easier. You can also feel the MMR drop on killer when you lose games, while on survivor no matter how many games you lose, each killer feels competent. It's almost like MMR on survivor hardly moves at all.

  • @Hex_Maidenless said:

I've honestly never even understood the problem some people have with solo survivor. Run Kindred so you can see what's going on and either Blast Mine or Wire Tap to let teammates know where the gens are. If Kindred hasn't come up yet just run Bond it's fine in the meantime. If you haven't got Dwight up to prestige 3 yet, lol, your opinion doesn't matter. So many of the problems in solo spawn from people picking really stupid perks that do nothing to help the team communicate. You don't need 4 of them (I actually try to run at least 2 of a character's personal perks just to give the game some actual flavour) but even 1 goes a long way. Help yourself.

It's honestly not that hard? I dunno. People complain about it all the time but to me playing in a team coordinating everything they do would be so absurdely easy I can't imagine enjoying it for more than a game or two.

Solo survivor has gotten better significantly since the 6th anniversary (I took a break a few months after that until recently) and it's not even close. Lots of quality games unless you just play bad and pick useless perks that don't help in solo. I have never played in any coordinated survivor team, I have never played a single game using discord voice chat (lol, imagine not winning every game 4-0 doing that, I think players caught doing it should be banned outright but that's a different thread).

The whining about solo Q being too hard ranks about the same for me as people calling the killer walking forward "tunneling". Mass hysteria about nothing.

Would love to watch you play some solo survivor games, we can record your sessions and show people how it's done.

I run meta perks every game just about (unless I am going for a challenge), I escape 1 out of every 4 or 5 games. A little less than half of my escapes are hatches. I have every perk in the game survivor and killer. I know how to loop, I have had games where I looped the killer from gen 5 to 0. I would love to get some more experience from you though.

  • For the people saying the previous meta was easier. I think the healing nerf definitely trumps the changes to a few regression pekrs. You still have access to very very strong regression perks, but we just lost a significant amount of health states. It's a toss up between this meta or the last one. Either way the game has been significantly killer sided for well over a year.

But that is easiest way to win so it's not like someone who wants to win will care losing pips. Hard tunneling still is the best way to pip if you share hooks after getting one out. One depip might even cause someone playing that way becsuse they lose motivation try getting pips.

Killers who play that way cause both sides to not pip, it's really cringe.

  • Rank based match making was 10000000 times better.

  • You shouldn't be complaining about me using a car if you use your wheel chair in a foot race - you

  • As survivor all you can do is pray the killer isn't playing like a rat. The only win condition on survivor right now is to do gens faster than they can regress them. So bring toolboxes and prove thyself. Adrenaline is also a very very strong perk right now. Just be aware that this is the hardest the game has ever been for survivor ever. And the pip system hasn't been changed to reflect that.

General tips, don't be the first person chased/downed. Don't be the last person chased/downed. Be on a gen 24/7, don't waste time looking around for other objectives or heals right now.

  • If you don't camp or tunnel getting pips is not hard. The quickest way to lose pips is to have someone die on first hook or camp a second hook stage.

unless you are talking about only A / S tier killer , otherwise if u think survivor is hard when having decent teammates , thats just a skill issue.

the MFT / second chance meta right now for survivor is the easiest thing in the world , go to a safe pallet , loop tighly , drop , hold W.

and if the killer hits you , u get rewarded with 3% perma haste that literally makes loops that where 50/50 into 75/25 which is dumb on top of the fact the MFT makes holding W even more effective which is boring and braindead .

soo yeah , the only reason why survivors are dying against non-top tier killer its because they are just BAD honestly , the have the tools to reach the endgame easily but they dont use them , and as someone that plays a lot of solo Q , am tired of having teammates that actively do nothing in the match other than putting the team in danger with their bad plays:

Reassurance (only requires 1 guy having it to counter camping entirely plus a new mechanic to combat that is on the way)

    DS - OTR (counters tunneling)

DH -MFT (second chances on chases)

    Unbreakable (counter slugging)

Dejavu (perma 6% repair bonus + always warns you about avoiding 3 gens)

thats just the average tools that survivor had to make any B to F tier killer lose the game without sweating just playing smarter and GOOD at chases.

If you were to place all killers and survivors on one tier list. There would be around 3-5 S tier killers, most killers would be in A, you would have a few in B, C, none past that.

SWFs would be in S tier, and solo Survivors would be behind every killer in C.

I'm not disputing it's one of the strongest ways to play but that's a direct result of the recent nerfs to regression perks and the shift in survivor meta meaning killers are more and more forced into slow down perks (including sloppy) to get some breathing space. It's why "gen rushing" has been the big talking point for killer recently as well, they feel pressured and having to manage so much so regression perks naturally help with that.

I quoted to you the percentage drops in some of the kick perks, they have been killed off competitively. 2 perks that would have made it in the top 3 of the recent list now linger way outside of it as other perks are favoured. Pop only showing up recently having been buffed which is after a long time going unused because it was nerfed so hard.

I literally just played a game with zero slow down perks and won today. To say killers are forced to slow the game down is copium. It's much EASIER to play with slow down, it lets you make a ton of mistakes and still win. Gen rushing doesn't exist, survivors have one objective, if you don't interrupt that objective that's on you. I would rather they increase gen timers and kill regression perks, than not address regression gaming at all. Because again, it was buffed baseline. And there are still a ton of regression perks that are very very strong.

If you add up the slow down perks in the statistics they are half of the top 10 perks used. Chase perks are almost entirely pointless because of how much extra time you have in each game. On top of that if you choose to protect gens, you realistically never have to commit to any chases.

How is it that kick perks are killed if I play against at least 2-3 killers a day using a kick build? You are just factually incorrect. This is like saying they addressed tunneling. They did, they made it easier xD

  • @MrCrowBard said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3517962#Comment_3517962

My point was that kicking gens when first finding a survivor is much less impactful since the nerf. Your description of seeing a kick in the first 30 seconds putting you off the game all the time doesn't make sense when most killers aren't running kick based perks. Pop doesn't even work in the situation you described and if running jolt it would be a bad move to make.

Yes gen regression is still a thing because survivors are now less incentivised to heal (both through healing nerfs and injury based meta perks) meaning more uptime on gens resulting in more gen pressure. Killers are then forced into using regression to slow the game down to give themselves breathing room.

In what way as base regression buffed? It still only works at a quarter of the speed that a survivor can repair and takes 2 seconds to start compared to survivors repairing them in 90s and no start time, meaning chasing around a gen that a survivor can stop the regression without wasting much time in chase.

You can disagree with me all you want, killers wouldn't be running the same builds if it wasn't still the strongest way to play. The nerfs to killer are always minuscule to the point of having little impact. While survivor nerfs tend to kill the perk entirely.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

But is there a limit on how often you can heal?

You ask for a limit on how often a killer can regress a gen. Both things would make no sense.

I think the fact that most people would rather sit injured and run perks like MFT and Resilience is proof that healing has been over nerfed. I would agree with you that during the boon meta it was too strong, but it is definitely not broken right now. If anything healing is under tuned for survivors right now. Gen regression and 3 gens have never been addressed properly. Anytime a regression perk is nerfed it's just changed out for a different regression perk.

    @MrCrowBard said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3517121#Comment_3517121

They also nerfed gen regression perks at the same time.

If you look at the stats posted on the forum and NightLights top 10 used killer perks, neither show gen kicking perks since they've fallen out of favour and become less than useful. Call of Brine went from around 15% usage rate (putting it in the top 3-4) to closer to 5% now. Eruption similarly dropped from about 19% to sub 5% and Overcharge went from around 8% to about 5% usage now.

The kick meta we had previously has seriously been reduced and a kick within the first 30 seconds is nowhere near as effective as it was previously (when the healing meta was also in the same state). Now Pop post buff is the only kick related perk seeing a lot of usage and that requires a hook state first before activating.

Since both the regression and healing meta killers have found the game and gens flying very fast and have had to adapt to being more on top of gens and doing more to slow down game progress against any semi competent survivor group. Jolt/Sloppy/Corrupt/Deadlock have all seen upticks as a result.

Look at the stats, regression perks are still ran more than anything else. Play as a survivor right now and try to find a killer running a non regression build, it's pretty rare. Perks fall off, but they are just changed out for other regression perks. They wouldn't need to nerf regression perks individually every patch if they just capped gen regression. I still see Eruption, Overcharge, Pain resonance, Jolt, Pop often enough that they are all definitely still meta.

Regression baseline needs to be looked at, which it never has been. If anything with the kick change, it was actually buffed. Baseline regression was buffed.

I'm having fun, but then again people play with many expectations of what they want out of a game and if those cannot be met then it will make for a disappointing experience. The way I enjoy it may vary greatly from someone else.

It depends on what you're finding getting in the way of the enjoyment. If it is something you feel you can adjust in what you're after, try entering a trial with different expectations or aims from those you currently had. Alternatively, if it's because of frustration with mechanics or other players, it may be that you need a break. Regrettably, we can only change things about ourselves and if the problems you can pinpoint with absolute certainty are beyond your control then it may be time to ask what you really want out of this game and could you get what you are after elsewhere, at least for a short while.

I don't disagree with you, I think DBD is in trouble if they don't address soloQ before all the survivor players move over to Texas chainsaw massacre. Right now they have little to no competition in the genre, that changes in 3 days.

I hope that's not the case. Basekit wise, I think Blight is absolutely fine. I really hope they don't Billy him.

I feel like blight gets a lot of really unfair hits that make playing against him very difficult to understand. I would like to see his bumping be a lot more consistent. A lot less sliding and a lot more everything causes you to bump correctly. I know people get mad when a "tech" is removed, but blight has the ability to kill half of the loops in the game by sliding/hug tech.

  • @NomiNomad said:

Idk, I feel like Otz has talked about Blight needing add-on nerfs quite a bit.

I think in blights case he has so many crazy addons that maybe its the killer baseline that needs changes. They have mentioned baseline changes to him in the past. Why waste time changing addons if you plan on changing him, that's my thoughts on why blight sees no addon nerfs.

  • I have a theory that developers really only test and play killers and don't really understand how bad survivor feels right now. We hardly ever see killer nerfs even in egregious cases of broken perks or powers. Its just buffs buffs buffs and then Otz talks about it and they finally fix it.

  • There are games I do enjoy playing out and games I don't. I pick and choose now, and swap games when my timer gets too long.

  • @SantaKlawz1 said:

The only thing that makes me hate this game aside from 5 Gen tunnelers is being in chase for 7 minutes and not a single Gen is done. Get downed and other survivors are on the other side of the map hiding as if killer is looking for them. Had a match the other day with a scratch mirror Myers. 2 of us are hooked and a 3rd is about to be hooked. The last survivor decides to spam the unhook button at my hook until Myers downs them. Reported them and only got a "we are working on it" a few days ago.

MMR matchmaking doesn't work, reporting doesn't work, killers have over a 60% kill rate and they're still unhappy with survivor perks, survivors are unhappy with killer perks, toxic strategies are encouraged by the devs, etc. I still somehow have fun... But it's waning for sure...

It's working perfectly fine. MMR places you against a killer at your skill level and fills in your team with people you are supposed to carry. How do you not know this? /s

You want to give up in the first 30 seconds, because the killer kicked a gen?

When the killer gives you a head start in this situation and he obviously doesn´t have Pop.

What killer build would make the game more appealing to you?

You can´t blame the killer if your teammates farm you though. Thats alone on your teammates.

I don't have a problem with how killers play the game. I have a problem with how the game is designed. You shouldn't be able to regress a gen 5 times, there should be a cap on how much each gen can be regressed. Being able to protect a 3 gen is way too easy and takes zero skill to pull off. I have played games recently where I watched killers scout the tightest 3 gen and literally never leave it.

If we are going to have MMR and my teammates are still playing like they started yesterday, what's the point of MMR. Because the killer is almost never bad in my games, but my teammates regularly are. I would trade rank based match making for what we have right now in a heart beat.

  • I can't believe gen regression hasn't been changed. Your over here mad about a perk that probably gets 4 seconds of a value a game. I am over here wondering why killers can force one hour games.

  • I find it hilarious that killers are mad about survivors running perks that give them 5-20 seconds extra in chase. While killers are running perks that give them an extra 10-15 minutes of game time every game.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/387835/any-solo-survivors-enjoying-the-current-meta

Could you be more specific, please? What makes you want to quit within the first 30 seconds?

Sure I can give an example of a game I literally just played. When a killer kicks a gen before chasing you, you know they are running regression build. This already makes the game very unappealing, as were going to be doing the same gen 2-3 times. On top of this I was hooked and farmed right in front of the killer, instantly triggering a tunnel within 2 minutes of the game starting. Add those two on top of each other and whats the point of me hitting those skill checks?

i used to love the wierd and wonderful perks of the game, with silly builds that dont do a whole lot in terms of meta but are quite literally a breath of fresh air. used to always use blast mine, red herring, etc. just to use perks that you rarely see, to make the killer think 'wait, is this [BLANK]? i havent seen that in so long'.

now due to most games either geting to a tunneller or meta slave, im just doing quests and changing my build accordingly. healing quest? healing build. chase quest? case build. gen quest? gen build etc.

my old perks i havent touched in so long since either i get tunnelled out before they have a use or they do nothing because the killers running 4 slowdown.

I like to use red herring and blast mine everyone in a while. Killers usually get a kick out of it.

I've been running Bond/Botany/Distortion/Prove Thyself lately and been loving it.

It's boring in a sense cuz it's just do things faster but I find it largely mitigates the problems of soloQ of no coordination, you kinda have to be willing to babysit the team making sure they're healed up and doing gens with them but as long as your team can loop worth half a damn it's been relatively painless.

You don't have to run distortion but I personally run it to make sure I'm getting value from my other 3 perks but you can sub it out for w/e you want.

I have found that running a juiced toolbox and prove thyself are the best ways to beat regression killers. You can a lot of times, finish the gens before they have a chance to kick them. However they can still easily win if you don't pay attention to 3 gens. It is very easy to defend a 3 gen on most maps if they are relatively close at all.

What has me playing less, and a lot less isn't the meta but the counter to it.

5 gens and it's tunnel and what can best be called proximity camping hooks. Killer walks away to avoid actually face camping but the moment the unhook happens, they are sprinting back to get their tunnel on or get the unhooker. It's boring and predictable.

So now, you have to leave the first hooked teammate on the hook and let them swing while you do 3 gens, then swap, do the last 2 gens and get out. Hope that your teammate doesn't opt out from boredom and repeat.

It's just super miserable and boring.

Pretty much exactly how all my games go. There are essentially a few types of games right now.

1: Person gets chased and downed fast, dies instantly, we lose.

    2: Killer tunnels/camps, we lose.

3: Killer plays meta drags the game out for 20-30 minuets, we lose.

4: Killer plays off meta or doesn't take the game seriously, we win.

It feels like my play and my teams play, has very little impact on how the game ends up. The killer either takes the game seriously and wins, or they don't and lose.

Nothing is wrong with the meta from the survivor side. Survivor is just as easy and strong as ever in fact more so since WoO does your pathing for you and you have 4 to 5 health states and perks to that speed up gens.

The only problem with survivor is the same problem that has always been there. Other survivors not doing gens. Just look at your hud and see how often none of the other survivors are doing anything.

Killer has no threat unless survivors just don't try.

I think the problem with this argument is I regularly have 4k matches where everyone on my team was doing gens as much as possible. So even when we all try, we still lose. And when we get the scenario that you describe, we definitely lose.

I'd also like to point out that I played a game as doctor Yesterday with a full end game build. But the game ended before they finished the gens. So I 10-11 hooked a game on a survivor sided map, as a B tier killer, with zero perks.

Would you also remove killer DC penalties?

    • Yes: Hurra, the game is now unplayable as no survivor could ever win again.
    • No: why the hell are we contemplating such an biased exception to the rules?

Dont queue up if you dont wanna deal with the consequences.

I think if we let survivors DC without penalties, killers should be able to request a surrender. The survivors can then either accept the surrender and be given points for winning. Or they can decline and give the killer a handicap, maybe expose all 4 survivors for the next down.

I also think survivors DCing should come with a required multiple choice answer for quitting, for example:

    "Why are you quitting"

    I got dunked on immediately

This killer is OP or not fun to play against

The perks being used (Killer) are unfair/not fun

    My teammates are griefing/trolling

    I have to go/emergency

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 21
