Needs an option for ghost face to be buffed. One of the most bulliable killers in the game.

While this isn't a huge number the game has dropped in numbers. About 10k since June.
Does this mean the game is going to die? No. I think it's just as ridiculous to say that it isn't dropping numbers because it's certainly not gaining.
Math is hard for some people, not to mention it is only getting started. If we don't see some changes soon I expect they might break so low records.

Okay, so.
There's a weird thing about the MMR system in this game, where new killers are pegged 'slightly below' your highest killer, if certain info is to be believed. Perhaps it's slightly below your average, but I know it doesn't feel that way.
It sucks.
For your first few games on your new killer, don't sweat the losses. Just focus on getting a feel for them.
Yeah they definitely hiked up the bar of new killers based on your highest killers MMR. Unfortunately your first couple of games are going to be a blood bath, but going in knowing you are going to lose can help. Learn the killer and let everyone go is my best advice.
-
Steam charts are public, might want to go look at them before you claim the game isn't dropping players.
-
You should assume that most Myers games they are using tomb stone because they do. I have played against Myers that also didn't give away they had tombstone until very late into the game. The best counter-play against Myers is just to not let him stalk and at high MMR if he using either tombstone it can take him 4-5 gens to tier 3. In the event he manages to reach tier 3 there are some obvious signs he is ready to use it the first being he wont try and stalk you immediately, but W key right for you. It is almost always the play to jump in a locker if you are the first person he is going to tier 3 against, he is a pretty weak killer, one free hook isn't going to win him the game.
I agree that it feels cheap to die to tombstone, but there is ample opportunity and information to gather to avoid being the one taken out of the game early.

I mean, OtR is definitely a significant buff, and baseline BT has made a difference in my games. The buffs to survivors were not insignificant.
The problem is these sort of camp/tunnel counter-measures don't really work anyway, because of the sunk cost fallacy, any killer getting hit with OtR or DS, will simply see it as a reason to continue pursuing that survivor, and as I said, if a killer really wants a survivor eliminated, they should have the ability to do so (as the power role), even if it comes at a cost of losing several generators in the process.
The only real solution is to make not camping and tunnelling more profitable, but even then, that isn't something that can dictate killer behaviours, and some will still choose to be #########.
Though if you really want to lose the killer, you could try running OtR with Overcome and Quick and Quiet, which should give you the opportunity to disappear.
Against bad killers baseline BT is useless, off the record is probably the only buff survivors got and you need to have it and run it to benefit from it. But, then there comes the dilemma that good killers have to face, do you let the person with OTR go or do you hit them to prevent them from getting a protection hit later on. And then, since you have already hit them why not just continue tunneling since you know they are out of things, DS is all but useless. You start to realize that the only buff survivors got, encourages tunneling.

Anti-camping and tunnelling measures was never the sole reason for the patch.
It was to address general game balance issues that were resulting in low kill rates, i.e. necessary killer buffs. Before this patch playing killer at a high level was miserable, and it was incredibly easy to abuse DS and DH to 'bully' the killer, forcing them to resort to tactics like camping and tunnelling. Killers should be able to eliminate a survivor if they choose to, killers have to be the power role in a 1v1 scenario, otherwise the game is fundamentally broken.
Theoretically, the sort of buffs killers got were good, and should allow killers to performed better when not camping and tunnelling.
The problem is that the very same changes also help campers and tunnellers, and just like survivors are now refusing to adapt to the changes and play more cautiously instead of expecting to be able to rush the killer like they used to, killers are also refusing to adapt and are still camping and tunnelling like they learned to before this patch.
I didn't say it was the sole reason for the patch but it is the reason we got baseline BT, because during a recent live stream they told the community they wanted to address tunneling and camping. The killer buffs were in part due to the baseline BT as well as increasing kill rates. But I reiterate, the "buffs" that survivors got doesn't exist in reality. So the killers basically got buffed multiple times while survivors just got nerfed across the board.

I think saying saying "the patch went overboard" is painting the issues with too large a brush.
In general a lot of the changes are good and what was needed, but there are a few changes that felt like too much or too little, and the survivor reaction to these is overblown. I get it, it's a lot of changes all at once, so even though there's good in there there's also a lot of bad to draw your attention too. But most of the issues I've been seeing since the patch are not due to killers being more powerful, they're due to survivors refusing to play or adapt, giving up at the first sign of inconvenience.
So what could realistically have been a bad change?
Thana should have been nerfed to 4% instead of buffed to 5.5%.
Self Care didn't need a nerf.
DS being disabled at end game was enough, it didn't need the nerf to stun duration.
Conversely, Pain Resonance didn't need to lose it's noise notification (it could have had the regression nerfed a bit instead), and Ruin didn't need to be nerfed to 100% considering it's now guaranteed not to make it even half-way through a game.
These are all nitpicks in the grand scheme of things, well except maybe Thanatophobia.
The main problem with the patch is that it was suppose to give baseline anti camping and tunneling measures. And to offset survivors getting "stronger" they increased gen speed and buffed killers baseline. The problem being they never delivered on the baseline anti camping and tunneling measures.

Killer queues aren´t longer than what survivor queues have been before the patch. So, despite people ruin other peoples matches. There still is a healthy playerbase, that wants to play survivor. Only thing that can ruin this is, well the people that suicide/disconnect/afk/sabotage the game, because they didn´t like that for once, survivors got the short end of the stick.
You realize the patch is less than 2 weeks old and were already having killer queue problems, what do you think is going to happen as time goes on? You think less people are going to give up when they finish grading up this month?
Survivors didn't get the short end of the stick, solo survivors did. And unfortunately for BHVR most of the player base falls into that category. And they didn't just get the stick they got a whole tree falling on top of them.

What do you mean? Patch was a full success, a part from the bugs and people throwing a tantrum. Player count increased since the patch was released.
You think no one wanting to play survivor is a success? People are just imagining the killer queues?

I think pretending like the patch didn't go overboard is just as bad as giving up and DCing.

Maybe they should stop playing then. Instead of ruining others people fun.
If everyone stopped playing the game because they didn't have fun in one match you wouldn't have a player base for DBD.
-
When you unhook them and they immediately run to the corner of the map to heal.
When you're hooked and you see people crouched and the killer is no where near them.
When you are hooked and you don't see their aura because they are hiding in a locker, even worse you watch them enter a locker.
Map offerings and hook offerings are usually red flags.
They swap to tool boxes or flash lights at the last second.
They are playing with totems when they should be the one rescuing.
You are hooked and see someone hiding very close to the hook already.

Both sides have had the pleasure of playing against unfun thing i.e old DS+UB 1 min of you can't touch me, COH when that first dropped it's not just survivors killers have had to deal with things in the past and i'm sure in the future both sides will. Be it bugs, perks, maps and patch's 1 side will seem like it got the short end of the stick then next patch it's the other side.
That's all good and well, but we have hit a point where survivors would rather give up than play. And instead of asking why people are giving up people on here are calling them whiners and that they are just throwing hissy fits. Let's not forget the people whining right now make up the majority of the player base (soloQ survivors). Would be a shame if we all just stopped playing and killers had 20 minute killer ques... oh wait.

Well the devs never claimed something different. They even said, that kill rates were below expectations. So of course, this whole patch was aimed at increasing those. I´m just not sure, if they had the collective tantrum, that our community was throwing, in mind.
I don't know if you have had the pleasure to play against some slowdown, regression, or save the best for last. But that's just a short list of unfun things that exist right now.

Nah, i wasn´t saying that it needs a buff. Just stated how survivors also got stong things with the patch.
Oh yeah we did, but I don't think anyone is arguing that this wasn't a massive shift towards getting killers kill rates higher. I don't even mind dying more, some things that got changed just feel ridiculously strong for killers. Where survivors kind of got some quality of life buffs in the form of needing to run perks.
-
Could be as simple as people stopped having fun in that match.

He is saying that the new OTR serves as a counter for tunneling (i disagree but it‘s whatever), not that it requires a buff.
Yeah I was just curious why probably the best perk in the game right now needed a buff. BT is also very strong but really only shines in end game collapse.

- Base BT + speed boost. BT buffed, OTR buffed.
- There probably come some icons
- Won´t happen, especially after they nerfed the meta slowdown perks hard.
- With the current line of Boons/anti Boon perks. Highly unlikely that they remove COH.
OTR is already insane what would you do to buff it?

Well I just double-checked earlier and tested Distortion vs. Retribution in a custom match and 2 tokens were consumed. So it definitely does continue to apply for those 15 seconds. This whole idea of "only 1 token is consumed for a timed aura reveal regardless of its duration" is just wrong and I have no idea where it's coming from.
Comes from you being able to hide in a locker during BBQ and jump out during its duration and still not have your aura shown.
-
The problem with the new dead hard is not only does your reaction time have to be on point, but so does your ping and the killers ping. Why bother trying to make the perk try and work when you can just run sprint burst or lithe, both of which are free real estate every time you use them.
The perk is dead. Even if they bump it up to .75 or 1 second, it still doesn't work during deep wounds anymore.
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3091482#Comment_3091482
This is not true at all. Distortion will consume 2 tokens if the aura reading lasts longer than 10 seconds.
The problem here is that Lethal itself is bugged and is only lasting 9 seconds, instead of 11 like it’s supposed to.
No, skills like Lethal and BBQ trigger one time they don't retroactively continue to apply the aura reading for the duration. The aura reading from Amanda's letter and Wraith's addon continually search for auras, that is why they eat through stacks so quickly.
-
My games are either a slog where I eventually escape or die. Or over in about 2 minutes.
Seems like most survivors are just looking for a reason to give up every game.
-
Your Grade no longer has anything to do with who you are matched with, it is sort of just a way to get free blood points every month at this point. Your MMR is what determines who you play against, and it goes up and down when you escape or die. The amount of MMR you lose or gain is based on the killer you go against.
I agree that it is silly your Grade isn't tied to match making anymore, I think at the very least MMR should be turned off until you reach Gold or Red ranks. Even the way you get pips as a survivor is kind of wonky based on how you gain and lose MMR. There is a world you can reach red ranks without ever escaping, games keep getting easier, but you are technically ranking up.
-
"I am a killer main playing survivor because its actually fun this patch, I don't understand why people are upset!"
No, you are playing survivor because your queue times are tragic.
-
You balance the game around solo players as they are the majority numbers in the game and you reward killers for playing against SWFs. Give killers more blood points and/or even make it easier to Pip if there are groups in their lobby.
That is what I would do if I were them anyway.
-
From what I have seen playing, aura's aren't active during their duration, they are triggered in an instance and then the effect is carried out. For example if a killer is running BBQ and you are in a locker, you can still jump out while BBQ is active, you just needed to be in the locker while it activated. So the duration doesn't matter, as long as that player has a token at the activation of lethal or BBQ, it only eats one stack.

Ok I will humor you one last time. Since you wont read what I said to Tragicsolitude Let me summarize it for you. They said that they've seen survivors refuse to do the last gen and leave. So I told them essentially you should be killing them as afking is as bad for data as rage quitting. Which they responded with thats not what they ment. This addresses what you said to the T. You refused to read it so I brought it to you here.
You are not trying conversation. You are trying to win an argument. While refusing to look at the evidence to the contrary of your petty jabs. Thats why I wasnt going to humor you anymore. Because you are wrong about my intentions and dont want me to be anything but what you've pegged me to be. So if thats true you're a troll.
If you want to talk about this subject not throw petty jabs review that comment then see if you're narrative still fits. If it doesnt and you want to have a conversation about that I'll humor it. I will not humor a one sided argument.
Yeah, and I am talking about killers who purposefully just get 8 hooks and then let survivors go, or killers who only kill 3 survivors and always give hatch. I am not trying to argue with you, I am pointing out that you clearly don't care about the data, you just want survivors to stop giving up, because it ruins your ez fun games.
I have literally never seen what you two were talking about. I have seen survivors hide when there is only 2 or 3 left because they want to be the one to get the hatch. I have never seen a killer afk in that situation though, because that would just be plain silly. You will eventually find one of the hiding survivors.
I am not arguing with you because I know why you made this post and what you hope to gain from it. I was simply pointing out your goal for the rest of the forum to see.

Proof of you not actually caring about the data? You didn't mention killers letting people escape or giving hatch, otherwise you would have mentioned it to help keep the data accurate.
The fact that you got so defensive instead of saying "No you are right killers should 4k if they can", proves to me what you actually care about. Not getting killers nerfed so your games are easier.

like killer giving hatch hurts pretty much no one, but teammates suciding hurts 3 people, which is a big deal.
Just pointing out the OP doesn't care about the data, just about his own experience, which you also also proved my point xD

I don't see people having a problem with killers letting people escape or giving hatch, because both of those things also mess with data.
You only care about survivors giving up because it ruins your own experience.

It has gotten to a point where I see survivors make mistakes that just leave me speechless and I just let the killer end my suffering.

The fresh kick being, having some free time sitting in killer que xD

It took me 9 games to complete 1 escape challenge. I am also Iri 1, idk what has happened in the past 2 days, but it's bad.

Mettle of Man will activate because it's not an Endurance effect, despite the game gives the buff.
Yeah I think that is how it works, but I also think it gets eaten up if you have both mettle and borrowed time active. You can't do a borrowed time hit and then MoM unless you are at 2 stacks of MoM when you take the borrowed time hit.
-
Spine chill somehow got buffed against stealth killers, would love to see that completely gutted again.
-
A mechanic to limit regression perks.
Save the best for last nerf.
Base line borrowed time increased.
Revert DS stun duration.
Thana only triggers from M1 hits. Could be buffed if too weak after change.

So correct, worst case scenario you have mettle of man active while also having off the record because one hit removes both. But if you are at two stacks of MoM and eat a hit with OTR, you would still need to mend before mettle of man works, but you would have it ready to go.
Scratch that, I think MoM will trigger when you are in deep wound. Would need to test it.

This isn't a bug this is a change they made during the PTB, you won't benefit from an endurance status effect if you are also afflicted with deep wounds. Also if you have two active endurance affects, now they both get eaten with one hit. For example if you have mettle of man and borrowed time, you only have one endurance state. One hit will remove both.
-
Most of the games I have lost to the patch had very little to do with the killer and a lot more to do with my teammates. Whether its them giving up or just playing at an MMR they shouldn't be at. The only games that really felt unwinnable was a blight game with broken addons, and a slow down legion game.
Shout out to sprint burst users giving me an aneurism every time I see them walking across the map.

I wish I had a 90% kill rate when someone is hooked in the endgame.
Usually the survivors don't escape because they are tunneled and then picked up via DS, they escape because they are protected by BT and someone health escorts them to the exit gate. Very little changed, as the 10% general buff usually won't help you with getting a second hit in.
No one is running BT, I have seen it once in about 40 games. Anyone claiming you can escape easily after getting hooked in the end game is either lying or hasn't played in a week.

cool made up statistic. even then, still not 100%, so you're mixing up possible and probable. The mindset you should have is that you do your best and move on to the next one, not whine about "why bother" because you had situations that didnt go your way. Every time someone ragequits on first hook, they're just echoing your mindset, and ruining the game for the other 4 players in the process. The rest of us try to do the best we can in bad situations, and we often make something more of them. You're so obsessed with worst case scenarios you basically cater to them, which never gives you room to improve.
Also nice completely random accusation of gaslighting just because my argument is basically stop being entitled. You could have taken the time learning how to loop better but you decided this argument is more important.
So when developers balance the game they should just ignore worst case scenarios that turn up literally once just about every game? Do you see what you are typing?
-
@Ryuhi said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3086944#Comment_3086944
sure. "how is it a bad thing" considering your cherry picked worst case scenario is not the same as what many other players, myself included, experience regularly? There are always going to be times where you will have little to no chance of winning a given situation, and like i said, this is the wrong game to have that mindset. If your salt comes from other people unwilling to save you, thats even more self serving and less about balance.
You have about a 90% chance to die if you are hooked in the end game and the killer tunnels you. It has gotten to a point that people at my MMR don't even bother anymore. What mindset? That killer is 10 times easier than survivor right now? Pretty sure most of the community has eyes my friend.
My salt comes from people who try to gaslight others when they know there is a problem but they are okay with it.
-
@Ryuhi said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3086928#Comment_3086928
How is that a bad thing? endgame saves are supposed to be extremely risky, all they did was remove the braindead easy method. Obviously this isn't about demanding the 4k or any other extreme mindset either, considering its about securing a 1st or 2nd kill at worst. The riskiness of situations like that is supposed to be half the appeal, so if that doesn't appeal to you, then take your 5k survival points and head off to the next game.
I have died 3 times since the patch, with not a single other person hooked, but because the killer managed to finally catch me and just body block me off hook because he knows I don't have DS or OTR. So when you ask me how is it a bad thing that killers can without question kill one person if they choose no matter what, I ask you why bother queuing up for a game at all.
