  • You don't realise that this snowman event the Killers will have the fun.

Teleporting or digging beneath the snow to appear in any of the snowmen to jump scare the survivors will have everyone talking about how much fun it is, including Ghostface and the Twins

  • Could this explain why RNG sucks with hook spawns at the moment?

  • @ByeByeQ said:

Certain maps like Ironworks of Misery can spawn with only 8 hooks on the entire map and it can be painful sometimes.

You just got unlucky with the RNG.

Survivors can make it worse with offerings and sabotaging as well.

It is what I thought 3 games in 4 poor RNG is something new for me, I haven't had this issue since the patch with the new Knight killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/356118/dbd-bug-with-no-hooks-at-the-moment

There's no way, are you sure they weren't running residual manifest or boil over to keep you from seeing hook auras?

Played DBD for ages, there was no boil over and could clearly see the available hooks.

Upon downing another survivor in the same location I took time to actually look around and nothing... I also checked and there were not offerings to distance the hooks further

  • Interesting the negative comments are without logic so here goes ...

    @danielmaster87 said:

It's only a party game in the way that it's balanced for casuals, despite how outspoken the competitive community is.

I'm reading comments which goes against what you are saying, 80% of the community have to play survivor for a game to take place.

Therefore is the game balanced for casuals or is the game being balanced more for that 80% to have a 'party game', the outspoken or minority are those that want to have a fair and balanced game... interesting comment.

    @Seraphor said:

So... you think new players, and solo survivors who don't want to listen to children screaming racist ######### at them, don't deserve to play the game?

Is this a record that always plays? You've heard of mute options and being able to play with the same swf from the last game being introduced?

    @SMitchell8 said:

    It is a party game.

    No logic here.

I'll apply some logic the reason people call it a game is for a winner and loser, a challenge.

I'll wait to see if anyone can actually explain why they think DBD is a party game ... excluding the bit where it is so easy (in a swf comms group)

They wouldn't believe me even if I told the truth.

Likewise, it depends on their attitude. If someone comes right at me accusing me of being in a SWF, they're usually salty and I'll lie and then ignore them. Let 'em cool off.

So not to tell the truth of being in a swf because of how you believe they will react?

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

It can sometimes make them feel that they aren't as good as they claim to be.

Although, at the same time, what are you looking for from asking such a question? And if you believe them to be swf, but they deny it because they genuinely aren't, it's not going to change your opinion.

Basically, it's better to ignore those things and focus on what you feel you can learn from any losses. You are the only thing that you can ever be certain of, and therefore the only thing you can reliably change.

    @Pulsar said:

I suppose it depends on their attitude.

If they're chill about it, then I don't mind.

The most recent example of this was me getting a message saying, "You ######### Survivor mains need every advantage possible, try playing Solo against me." Mfw I was solo.

    @Terion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3269659#Comment_3269659

I think they just want to make the killer feel bad by lying.

i get destroyed by soloQs sometimes, not gonna lie about that. But i can mostly backtrack where i did wrong (often when i wasted too much time for 1 chase and didnt let go because i got tooo focused on the one chasing." But when they play perfectly coordinated, i had it often they denied being in an SWf. So well, i guess its just for being rude.

A player knowing that they lost because of the advantages of a SWF or that they played against a really good bunch of random solo's can affect their progression in the game in learning how to play and adapt.

I hear lower ranked SWFs tend to be ultra altruistic which is why they lose matches.

Very odd in two games this happened.

Why BHVR don't make it easier for everyone by showing this endgame is beyond me

  • @ColonGlock said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3269650#Comment_3269650

DBD is much more enjoyable when you go with the flow of the match and accept the outcome as long as you did your best.

I used to think it was skill, you know like a football player reaching his level but because the level leap was so huge ...

It was like walking through a maze and one team then having a map in their hand.

I honestly can only think that people who play in SWFs must think they would be ashamed maybe ridiculed?

Even this post for example, nobody is admitting they are in a SWF and why they don't say anything.

@Pulsar has said he would lie but didn't give a reason nor if he played in a SWF

  • I'm obviously not saying that this is the case but, how strange that someone lies about whether they play in SWF.

BHVR has enabled SWFs so what causes people to want to avoid / lie about being in one?

  • @Colton147147 said:

Killers tend to lie more than survivors.

Perhaps it is just this community and some people lying comes naturally?

I'm still shocked that they thought telling me they were solo and then finding they were not... different people in two games!

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

I don't know why they would lie if you can see they're friends.

I don't know why solos get accused of being SWF with no way to prove it, either.

People are weird in the ways they maintain their egos.

    @ColonGlock said:

Just move on to the next match to keep your sanity.

There was a time when I was learning killer and I honestly did not know what happened once I started playing yellow rank survivors.

There seemed to be a huge gulf in what had worked before and then didn't, only later did I hear about SWFs and communications being used.

I understand BHVR like to hide information such as even player names now but for a player to be left confused how they could have lost so quickly would help people learn and improve when they play killer.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Why do you care?

If somebody messaged me saying, "Why are you playing with your friends?" You bet your ass I'll lie to them.

Odd that you would lie about something that would make the killer feel better about why they lost

  • Maybe they think it is toxicity but I'm interested to know if I played well as killer or was at a disadvantage against comms/swf?

I often wonder why BHVR do not put in the SWF teams at end game for the killer to know why everyone was so efficient on gens

  • You're joking? Unbreakable will be basekit?

OMG I don't have to run BT and Unbreakable... Prove Thy Self and Endurance at the ready :D !!!

  • bp is pointless now, bhvr have made all my bp building pointless with the excessive payouts already... how I enjoy wasting my time spending bp to finish off prestiging my characters when I was almost there anyway.

instead of rewarding the killer, how about balancing the game around communications, because lets face it if you play swf you are likely taking full advantage of talking about cassaroles in the oven whilst playing dbd to ensure a balanced game.

SWFs are why some (swf) people believe this is a chill game, isn't competitive due to comms breaking the game.

  • To finalise, lobby dodging is exactly what what I will be doing now if I suspect a 3 man SWF.

I need to know my team have my back as I would have theirs

  • @KerJuice said:

If there was no NOED, they would have most likely risked coming for you. Even with the recent change, I’m telling my team to leave as well. Not worth risking more players. Now if you stood out for running the killer for 3 gens and then got downed to NOED, I’d be more inclined to search for that totem. I’d tell my team to be super careful while I’d be the one to stick my neck out the most and search aggressively for the Hex.

Ran that killer, unhooked all of them, etc then yes I did that in the game but that isn't what this is about.

3 x SWFs are selfish (or are they!) and now I am left to lobby dodge if I suspect they are a SWF.

Givng NoED the aura nerf is huge and no way would I have left,

I need a note to apply to players who play like this including the previous commentator who suggests it is a 1v1v1v1, I am happy to leave them on the hook but expect others to treat me how I treat them

  • @Icaurs said:

First: Adding who is a SWF in the pregame would resulting in massive lobby dodging by killers. You can work around that by limiting it only survivors but not many people would quit just because their teammates are SWF.

Second: Those SWF did nothing wrong. People seriously need to understand this, survivor is not team based role. It is every survivor for themselves. a 1v1v1v1. You may choose to work together but it is not an obligation to to save people. You can choose to let people die if you want. if survivor was a team based role you would be scored as a team. But you aren't. Seriously people need to understand this because it demonstrates you don't actually even understand what your role is in the game?

    First:

Original post was to do with the solo survivors experience, nothing to do with killers. Who are also at a disadvantage to SWFs and could be shown how well they did by showing them endgame as previously mentioned.

Many people would not quit they would simply find a more balanced lobby to be in, lobby dodgy is not the problem.

    Second:

Your view that survivor is not a team based role and is a 1v1v1v1 is wrong, simply having an opinion isn't a 'Second' reason.

SWFs are another team within a team, for you to say it is 1v1v1v1 is wrong as is the idea it is a 1v1v3. Doing gens and getting out is so easy, the idea of saving someone facecamped on the hook is the challenge which is even easier with the aura of NoEd now.

The mind boggles where people get these ideas that DBD a 1v1v1v1 and ideas to explain include low skill level, personality, etc

  • @Krazzik said:

I mean even if you knew they were a SWF they'd still have left you on the hook. I don't know what the point of adding this feature is.

Easy, I could have avoided playing with them.

Having a SWF know they are a SWF puts a solo at an even further disadvantage

  • Another case of SWFs, 3 SWF with 1 on hook and 3 survivors left.

Tried to help and went down whilst other was rehooked and killed... other swf just left.

Excuse... well you'd have done the same thing!

SWFs even knowing they are in a SWF and the solo being unaware is an imbalance BHVR!

  • TBH I don't even know why I have to post something, we could even see what perks everyone has... why do BHVR dislike giving information?

  • So not a bug, just a 'feature' of DBD hook spawn coding

  • Thanks for post @GoodBoyKaru, has there been any recent streams since?

  • Many players on this game will play survivor and infrequently play killer, take into account that whilst it is a 50/50 sided game one 50% of a side are actually 80% of the players in that game. Apply that to how many developers now play killer, even the slightest amount and you'll start to understand how toxic and bullying this game can be.

  • No hooks in range, clusters elsewhere as you would expect but the last match I surpised a survivor and downed them to find there was nothing nearby on Midwich. I should point out this has happened before on Midwich but couldn't be 100% that someone hadn't sabo'd or been unhooked with breakdown perk.

A few match after the match on the Game makes me wonder if something is going on with hook spawns on small maps

  • Firstly you can't measure a game by how many gens are done as many can be 50%+

Secondly and more importantly... why are you complaining about being chased, you realise when you play survivor this happens and if another player hunts you down then they are entitled to do so... why are you complaining?

  • You have to ask what makes a killer want to skip a lobby...

Survivors with map offerings to some survivor sided map

    Possible SWF (hidden)

I'd say both are close but SWFs with communications makes the experience of fun for the killer far less enjoyable and would want to switch

  • Whats that got to do with a 6 moth old post?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

This will happen with all survivors. There's no new bloody cosmetics.

Feels like the game is heckling me for P3'ing most of my survivors and killers

  • Thanks @ZVom but I've got to ask, why is there a limit on bloodpoints?

  • DC penalties are a joke, they should have been updated once everyone became aware of how to circumvent them

  • Tunnelling is a survivor word that for some reason killers aren't supposed to do as it affects their enjoyment.

The developers are currently shaking up the meta by making the meta basekit, I'm still confused how that is shaking up the meta but fully expect BT, DS, DH and Unbreakable to be basekit in the next few patches in line with complaints made about 'tunnelling' whilst not incentivising the killer to injure everyone (who remembers Thana buff then nerfed to ground again)

  • Different types of no hooked players though...

    New players hiding

Solo selfish players waiting for hatch

Decent players the killer hasn't been able to hook

  • @The_Krapper said:

While they probably are cheating there's always a chance they aren't and something is bugged allowing them to do that, like the cancel fast vault bug right now, or how using a map or key used to let you window tech a killer with no timing involved , or how clairvoyance used to let you push the killer off of a building, I would still report it of course but just be on the lookout to try and identify a pattern if this happens again and see if you can match any similarities in builds or items

I think because of the double vault bug hackers are able to claim they aren't cheating.

This hacker was aware of every single trap I had set when I was chasing them and only a 'god' trap and me chasing them without slowing down for a pallet did I see that they were.

Hacker had Anonymity setting on as others do now and was trying to hide this as much as possible.

The stealth hackers make my experience of the trial totally pointless and affects future games in thinking whether I am playing well or they are hacking.

Offering anonymity has been a poor choice by BHVR who are offering no harassment or a safe space which doesn't stop end game chat... just poor IMO

    As explained here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237479#Comment_3237479

Proof is required when filing the ticket, and as @GoodBoyKaru already explained, you can upload your clip to Youtube as unlisted and post the link in the ticket.

Now when I log this on the BHVR website I can provide proof but now how can I link the game / event / player when they are anonymous and have no way of referencing them to BHVR?

Again, as explained in my first comment in this thread, Support can access that kind of information through the in-game report that flags the match and the details you give in your ticket.

Okay so a web ticket has to be logged and from the ingame report and from the date and time reported of the match on the web ticket a team has to find that match and then identify the player, that sounds like a lot of work for those poor guys (and a smaller amount for the player reporting) but possible to do.

I will continue to refuse to play with anonymous players though, as I feel safer knowing hackers are more likely to do use this.

To be honest, we shouldn't have to be reporting hacking as the dbd servers should be able to detect hacking as servers will be able to monitor if we are flying in the air / not trapped after passing over a trap. DBD needs to focus less on the old client anticheat as the client games are easily compromised.

    Thanks for your time

You know if ur on steam you can go into the steam menu and press "View Players" Next to the "View all friends button"

it should show you who you played against i think. i dont think there is a way Privacy Mode can block that

Ill test in out the next time i get an anonymous player. barely seem them

It is a problem created by BHVR allowing an Anonymous setting and even not showing a link to the player for end game stats.

Just had 4 lobbies in a row with anonymous players and I am being honest in that I refuse to play with them and can see more and more players refusing to play with them as well.

Hopefully raising this issue opens a dialogue and survivors / killers aren't lobby dodging causing longer queue times

  • @Rizzo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237552#Comment_3237552

You can still do this, Anonymous Mode didn't change how the reports work in the slightest, we can even say it made it easier, as you are required to give less information than before.

And no action will be taken without proof, so the claims you are talking about will lead to nothing.

Forgive me but what you said does not make sense to me...

"You can still do this, Anonymous Mode didn't change how the reports work in the slightest, we can even say it made it easier, as you are required to give less information than before."

So click on the player as cheating in the endgame and thats it yes?

"And no action will be taken without proof, so the claims you are talking about will lead to nothing."

As nobody has asked me for proof of this player hacking then no action has been taken against them.

I should add I never have been asked for proof.

Now when I log this on the BHVR website I can provide proof but now how can I link the game / event / player when they are anonymous and have no way of referencing them to BHVR?

  • @HoodedWildKard said:

Yh they're clearly just cheating. Either way even if it is a bug they are still abusing a gameplay exploit for an advantage. So still a bannable offence.

Imagine feeling the need to cheat against a trapper. 🤭

There were many other instances in that game but this was the clear obvious indication they were cheating but they had been very clever to hide this from me until then. I could have finished this game and thought, well I need to improve my trap placement / skill / etc.

If the DBD servers are monitoring the games where traps are and a survivor walks over it but the players client software hasn't reported them trapped then an automated report without the need of humans reporting each other

  • I mentioned in a previous post that I clicked on the in game report section but have little faith that does anything as anyone could do that and it does not require proof.

Previously without anonymity players could be reported but with video evidence similar to this

How many times will a SWF who have had a bad game simply report a killer for hacking in the hopes of them being affected with a ban etc and not need proof?

  • Currently Anonymous Mode does ...

Previously I could report with video evidence to support my claim the player was a hacker

    or

Numerous claims of hacking can be made without proof, say from a 4 man SWF who had a bad game against a killer

    This is not good

  • @Rizzo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237521#Comment_3237521

If you make it that you are anonymous just until the tally screen, well then people can go to other players' profile and harass them there, which is what the mode is aimed at addressing.

If your only reason to be against it is that you cannot see if you outplayed this or that content creator, I'm sorry but the pros of keeping the mode way outvalue the cons.

To harass in players profiles? That is easily fixed as they would need to give permission.

I'm dismayed to hear you think that is the only arguement whether I outplay a streamer as there are many reasons to display who you play against.

What DBD are allowing at the moment is for hacker to not even get reported and the more information hidden away from players is more and more worrying for the improvement of this game in my humble opinion.

Anonymous Mode's main goal is to mitigate harassment and targeting, I'm not sure what this has to do with Killers thinking they were facing a SWF.

That post was towards endgame stats when the game has finished.

How can you harass or target someone anonymous in game but only find out who it was at the end.

At the end what does it matter except you know who you beat/beat you e.g. a decent streamer/player

Whether you lost to a 4 man SWF with their advantages compared to a 4 very good team of solo survivors and depending on that you can improve as ranking to know is very important in a game, some people don't care but for example I'd like to know if I were in the top survivors or top killers.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237490#Comment_3237490

    It's very easy.

In the endgame screen, you press on the thumbs up/thumbs down button next to their score, not on their name. You go to find the correct report option and you report, giving a very brief answer like "hacking".

Then you go to BHVR Support (there's a link to it on the forums and in-game) and file a support ticket under "Additional Player Report Information" and fill in as much information as possible, omitting the offending player's Steam64 ID as you cannot get that without their profile. Upload the video evidence to a different video sharing site, such as YouTube (though do it Unlisted), because the site BHVR use for Support is, for lack of a better term, horrific.

Et voila, there you go, you've successfully reported a person in Anonymous mode. With the video information, who you physically report in-game, and overall match information they receive they'll be able to locate the offending player even under anonymous mode.

So you're saying use the in-game reporting system that many believe does nothing and then post a ticket on a website linking the video evidence but not give any link reference in that report? If so, I think my point still stands.

From recollection BHVR are going to be showing action taken from reports which brings hope but then with lack of proof there will be more and more reports from players and killers suffering as 80% of SWF players in game reporting a killer for hacking when they lost without providing any proof is going to be horrific for the game.

Oh also to answer your second question, the statistics given don't show games with DCs and likely not early hook suicides if Nurse and Blight are so low down.

Words use like 'likely' prompt why something like this video below would be so powerful with being able to dynamically change values to say exclude data that has survivors attempting kobe's

However if you give power or information to players that has negative and positive outcomes towards the game and can see why something like this would never be given to the players

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you are referring to.

I'm not sure but perhaps endgame stats, why bother hiding anything at that point?

Played against a major streamer and only knew I had played them from a friend in their stream otherwise it was a random 'A BLIGHT' killer.

It is similar to who is in a SWF, the killers will never get better if they lose and always think they all were in a SWF and make little adjustments in future matches.

  • @GoodBoyKaru not on this doorway next to the exit gate on RDP, I mean it is a one person doorway that is difficult for Trapper to fit through. Add Trap to the middle of doorway and well, neither would surprise me. Have video evidence but then how do I report that on an anonymous player with in game reporting to prove it? Simply you can't no longer give video evidence now if Anonymous.

Taking information from players is ruining this game IMO, knowing players names as in who are capable or DC, own SMMB ranking number, who are in SWFs, DBD prepared charts instead of BI reporting charts with dynamic variables e.g. do the reports show games where survivors have DC'd or killed themselves on hook straight away.

    It's like one step forward...

Then you get the HOTS/LoL problem, where 30% of people just mute everyone at all times and, as nobody knows they are muted, it falls apart.

    Voicechat wouldn't work here.

This has been covered already, you mute them and your team becomes weaker but that is a choice each player should be able to do.

If you don't offer them the chance then how do you balance a game when people have a current unfair advantage using communications over those that do not.

It is about choice and of course choice would work here, unless you think choice is a bad thing?

    @[Deleted User] said:

I love the idea of built in Voice chat, imagine the way that could be utilized, ways to make us quieter, maybe make us silent when dying, doctors insanity could have his laugh in our ears etc.

But I also really really doubt BHVR can program it in, ESPECIALLY because of how many systems the game runs across. I just don't see them being able to program a voice chat that can stretch from PC to Xbox to PS5 to Switch. My swf is on every system. We have to use FB group calls to talk because we don't all have access to discord.

That is insulting to BHVR to whether they could introduce communications into a game that many other have, especially when BHVR are welcoming communications yet not providing them! Makes no sense for balance

  • Well thats that sorted, all we need is for BHVR to pull their finger out and actually bring balance to the game instead of messing around with perks to bring 'balance'.

  • "report them through the in-game report system"

    That never works... ok...

"make a ticket while leaving your player ID and relevant proof"
