Not really. It depends.
I don’t know what your experience has been, but I’ve personally yet to see a team (SWF or solo queue) recover from 3v1 at 5, 4, even 3 gens unless the killer allows it. Like… the killer literally has to allow the survivors to come back to win by easing up. And even then the most they can manage is a 2E.

Outside of Spine Chill what is "Hard Counter".
Spine Chill is no better than actually looking around and seeing the Wraith shimmer, or exposing Ghost Face or just happening to see Myers standing there looking at you.
If that one perk is so game breaking though, it can be re-worked. Again, I'd rather people see the killer and stay in the match and have a little longer cue than deal with, I blink as Nurse and instantly DCs begin. That's just zero fun.
SC doesn’t alert unless the killer has direct LoS on you within 36 meters, and they basically have to take up o believe like 50% of the screen or something to trigger it now. So you see the killer while they’re watching you when it works.

The long lose-streaks survivors are getting is a massive problem. I had an 11 consecutive game long lose-streak, which included 3 DCs, which literally made me quit playing the game. I don't think I'll ever go back after suffering that.
The MMR system should start dropping survivors MMR very rapidly after 3 consecutive lose-streaks in a row, so those survivors go against much easier killers and can break that lose-streak was easier. And MMR should count DC games for survivors MMR. As a survivor, you still lose the game with a DC. Killer doesn't matter, since they pretty much are guaranteed a win with a DC.
Tbf killers are essentially guaranteed a win by turnotunneling 1 survivor out at the start of the match.

He’s loud, he’s big. Idk male survivors are always less popular because they’re easier targets than their female counterparts

So realistically how does a round start when a banned character is clearly in a lobby? Are admins not present during these tournaments in the first place in lobby?
I don't play comp DBD so I don't know how this works. Just seems silly having an unsupervised round in a tournament without tournament officials present to call this out in the first place. I get the rule itself but to me it's something that if it goes under the radar very blatantly from the lobby I feel it isn't an issue. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of unreported scenarios like this but no one reports them because it's not an actual issue.
Regardless - This topic could be used to introduce to normal players how comp dbd works.
Yes there are officials who observes the lobbies and the match. No idea why they didn’t call out Cage. Maybe they didn’t think it mattered until the opposing team called out the violation.

Ok, you don't have to call them anti-tunnel perks but perks like Off The Record, DS and DH are good anti-tunnel - especially when combined. Of course reassurance is good if you know someone is going to be tunneld off hook.
10s and the haste can help a survivor reach a window, pallet or give enough time for other survivors to start bodyblocking the killer. So it does help, sometimes a lot. Killers used to be able to just facecamp and insta hit you the millisecond you got unhooked, remember.
I'm just afraid of this game becoming too easy - everything given to you. I really like the 10s base-kit BT, and UI changes letting you know who's on gens etc. I'm unsure about the grab change - but it's live. But now a possible self-unhook option? I'd rather the devs implement good matchmaking - where survivors rush gens if someone is camped or get a save with some team effort or bodyblocks for that person, if necessary.
Grabs have always been intended to favor survivors (they didn’t) because they’re latency-based. Just like hits favor killers. That basically means if it looks like a survivor on their screen let go before they were grabbed, the game honors that experience over what the killer sees on their screen (which may be them grabbing the survivor due to again latency). And the inverse is true of hits; like if it looks like a killer on their screen hits a survivor, the game honors that hit even if the survivor sees that they cleared the window or whatever, the killer missed.

@Pepsidot said:
Might be an unpopular opinion but I feel like there shouldn't be an anti-camping mechanic that e.g., lets a survivor unhook themselves. It sounds too free - sometimes killers do need to apply pressure!
Now that hook grabs are gone, it's very easy to unhook someone by yourself whilst others rush gens - except vs bubba of course. If you have to trade, good, if they get tunneld, fair play I suppose. Get back on a gen and hopefully the 10s built-in BT helps them, or their anti-tunnel perk.
There is no anti-tunnel perk. And you’re joking about the 10 seconds helping them, right?
-
In games where I’ve seen bots, the killers tunnel the mess out of them.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3501897#Comment_3501897
This is also valid. If you're injured and on death hook, and no one else is, taking the killer to another survivor can be the smartest move for the team.
But it may not be wise for the individual survivor sandbagged. Maybe they’re downed and camped. And if the other survivors escape that won’t give them (the newly downed / hypothetically camped/tunneled survivor) more Bloodpoints or raise their MMR. That death actually punishes them.

My vote is no. You’re essentially creating an avenue for that Forever Legion all over again. In any event Legion is apparently one of the more popular killers (per Peanits) as-is.

Smash Hit is considered one of the worst exhaustion perks in the game and doesn't show auras of pallets.
Any Means shows the auras of dropped pallets, but is a very niche perk itself.
Windows also shows vaults.
So no you can't just run Any Means and Smash Hit and get the same thing as Windows. Windows is a single perk that always tells you what you can use nearby.
That’s fair.

I think many people don't realize how useful it is to have a perk that always lets you know where available pallets are, especially in solo q. Just not running to an area where my teammates already threw pallets is worth the slot at times.
Any Means Necessary and Smash Hit do the same thing.

Faster games being prioritized over Matchmaking was because Killer was in a bad spot prior to 6.1.0
10 minute queues were the norm. BHVR realized there were insufficient Killers in each matchmaking range to meet Survivor demand and buffed Killer, added BP incentives, expanded the matchmaking range in lieu of this.
In order for matchmaking to be reverted to be much more strict, the Killer population will have to meet a certain threshold consistently.
My guess is that this threshold has not being achieved consistently yet, thus the status quo will continue. Nerfing Killers till the point that even a bunch of uncoordinated Solo Queue casual players can mount a comeback against casual Killers is more likely to dissuade players from playing Killer.
When 10 min Survivor Queues even with Killer BP incentives become consistent, BHVR will have to do something akin to 6.1.0 again as damage control.
I see people complaining about being camped, tunneled or slugged now, but more than a year ago, people were ok with this because it meant that they were at least able to get a game.
People have never been okay with being camped or tunneled, that is a lie. And survivor queue times have also been extremely slow (patch 6.1.0) which by your logic is why there were buffs to that role.

Wow. That's awful. I couldn't care less, if the medkit you get with this perk is green or purple as long as you don't get a syringe or styptic agent on top of that. That is really a bit too much imo.
The part about event addons is sad. That was so funny and overall probably a healthy addition. It helped create more of these random stupid but fun moments.
Why would the rarity of the medkit matter to you with those add-ons? Once you use the add-on it consumes the entire medkit. Would be better to just burn a brown or yellow kit. Well I guess it doesn’t really matter anymore since they all heal the same.

Absolutely. People on this forum are blinded by losing, due to themselves or teammates. The game can’t be balanced around people who don’t know how to play. Survivor being a team thing means that your team will sometimes screw you over. I play solo q and with a friend and survivor is absolute easy mode.
Do you stream or record your games otherwise? I’d love to see your solo queue games. Maybe I could learn something.

That’s not always best practice as she starts with a Corrupt fountain now. Plus in solo queue you can’t communicate with other players to avoid cleansing. And if you can’t loop you’re basically exposed all match. She’s not a slow killer.

About the playerbase breakdown? Who's in SWF or solo? Dud I miss that?
I thought that one was about escape rates and usages.
No they also put out numbers about SWF. It was like 56+ % of survivors were solo, like 4-5% were a 4-man SWF, I think like 40-something % were duo and whatever is left from this was 3-man. But I remember clearly that 3-4 man were most uncommon and solo queue was most common survivor breakdown. And Peanits later, in an unrelated post, confirmed that 4-man SWFs were pretty rare and they see most survivors play solo, with duo just behind that.

The last time they put out stats about this back in 2019 half of all survs were in at least a two-man SWF, with trios and quads far far less common.
With Solo Queue just so delightful since then, I'd imagine the numbers in SWF must have risen. We could really use updated stats though.
Didn’t they put out stats on this last year (2022)? Like in October?

What my hopes for Xenomorph are:
- Ability to move very fast and very stealthily, possibly even moving above certain obstacles and on walls.
- Ability to attack from said walls by leaping toward Survivors.
- Ability to use the tail to pierce through Survivors, with the ability to instantly down Survivors if they're hit through a wall.
What my expectations for Xenomorph are:
- Cocoon.
- Egg.
- Acid.
- Some sort of loop denial ability.
This is why I'm scared for the chapter. Something unique would be amazing, but the expectations I have are probably what will happen.
I seriously doubt it will have an insta-down ability. Nor should it.

bodyblocking with endurance puts you in deep wound then leaves you open to being tunneled. It’s so risky and I don’t personally ever see survivors do it. Maybe I’m SWF but even then the person who blocks doesn’t get away; they just end up hooked again. Lol. I dunno what they could do with Buckle Up. I guess they could make it bad again.

god you could not be anymore wrong could you? every stealth killer doesn’t have a lullaby to give away their position. ghostface, wraith, pig, and other stealth killers don’t have lullabies because they are STEALTH KILLERS. sure you can say “oh but pig has that roar!!” “oh wraith has his breathing!!” okay? well sadako has the screeching whenever she’s phasing, sadako is able to be seen within 24 meters too.
she does not need and should not have a lullaby, it ruins her aspect of a stealth killer.
Tbf Ghostface and Myers are also stealth killers who can be seen within 24 meters. But of course they don’t turn semi-invisible.
-
I think they try to take all player strata into account when they do things. Usually, when they nerf really strong perks or items it’s because that effect won’t really hinder casual gamers too much b/c they don’t play optimally (except medkits/self healing. Not sure what the thinking was on that). I also think they try to equalize top-performing killers and top-performing survivors but it’s not easy at all. I believe this is why a lot of ‘weaker’ killers are left as-is. In fact Peanits mentioned something quite similar.

Prove Thyself got nerfed and BNP's got changed to require a lot more thought to be useful. The only recent buff to gen speeds is Deja Vu which isn't very common.
Pain Res, Pop, Corrupt, and Deadlock are all still A tier perks that are regression based.
Its only stressful if you let it be stressful or if you're playing at a level where the games are very competitive and thus, should be stressful.
When I used to tryhard on Killer, there were plenty of games where I would feel stressed out and frustrated if it didn't go my way, but I realized that I was creating this dynamic with the game and that it was entirely a self-made problem. You don't get anything from winning in this game aside from the satisfaction of winning, which these days I can substitute the same feeling for just playing well.
My Killer experience has never been more fun since I changed mindsets, I don't farm every game nor do I completely troll, I play normally but ease up on really going that extra mile for the 4k so my MMR doesn't get too high again.
Reap what you sow tbh.
If you’re overwhelming survivors early on, do you slow yourself down (like hit them but let them heal up while maybe you watch from a corner)? Or do you sweat their backsides
-
Bots can’t be mindgamed but they also don’t really loop. They just hold W until they get stuck on objects.
Real survivors who outthink you are just better, at least in those moments. Not much you can do but try to out think them.

Sandbagging, AFKing and working with killer would simply lead to them being banned, so no loss there
It’s really hard to prove that someone intentional sandbags and sometimes that they’re working with the killer, though. A teammate could fail skill checks on a gen but how do you know they’re sandbagging vs distracted? You don’t. The devs don’t really punish sandbagging unless it’s extremely obvious—and even then, it’s super rare to see accountability. I understand why, though. A lot of players suck at the game. They might unintentionally sabotage and to punish them for that would really drive them away from the game. Making the game too oppressive for average/casual players would kill it, a la the dev’s other game, Death Garden.

The first hook is not the problem; the second stage hook is.
There are perks survivors can use to free themselves with (notably Slippery Meat, Up the Ante and Deliverence). Some may use it to kill themselves, but the likelihood of putting a blanket ban on freeing themselves from the hook doesn't make any sense. If someone wants to kill themselves, then they will just go afk. Some people would choose those perks and want to use them to escape by themselves.
Therefore, more to annoy those weaker players who do want to disconnect, simply removing struggle skill-checks from the second hook would be a far better alternative.
Whatever happens, a survivor who wants to die without disconnecting will do it anyway, even if going afk or running towards the killer for a quick death. There's nothing that will outright stop this, but there are things that can be done to make this act far less enjoyable. When I'm killer and see a suicider, I just slug them and leave them to rot.
And if you’re playing killer, you know you’ve just hooked a survivor, they’re freed and run right at you then wait? Or you slug them, see them up again and they’re once again in your face wanting you to basically help them leave the match.

It wasn't the only counter. Premonition is a general survivor perk and functions like SC but instead of just sitting on a gen watching the SC icon, you have to pan your camera.
Is it perfect? Hardly. But what's the point of not having a terror radius if survivors just SB away when you're within 32m and getting closer? We have like 3 actual stealth killers, and they have zero chase power. If people want the previous iteration of SC back, then stealth killers need to have chase power instead of being relegated to M1 Killers.
Two of those three have instant down abilities. That’s probably why they’re weaker in chase. Although to be fair all of the stealth killers are faster than the slowest killers.

I started out as a killer main. I currently main survivor. I remember quite well how it was all but impossible to sneak up on survivors as Ghostface due to Spine Chill. Combine that with Sprint Burst, and the killer finds that the survivor(s) on that gen are long gone.
Throw on Resilience, and now you've got vault speed build. You know what the counterplay was? Don't look at the survivor during chase. Approach gens without looking at the generator. That's not sufficient counterplay for a perk that merely requires the killer be looking in your general direction.
I remember that. But Spine Chill was the only counter for stealth killers. There’s really no counter now, and saying ‘just listen for his cloak bro’ (or some other faint killer-reliant audio cue) doesn’t work because there are ambient noises that overshadow it. Like a generator being repaired. And tbf the only stealth killer that you can consistently catch by looking around is Myers. By the time you’ve seen the others they’re usually in striking range. Maybe Premonition could help but I’ve had issues with that perk glitching out. In any event ‘stealth’ isn’t exactly the main power. It’s the insta-down ability (Myers, Ghostface), speed boost (Wraith), or slow-down apparatus (Pig).

Its actually not that tough, because the tv is only off for 45 seconds when she TPs to it, so as long as you stay in the general area of one, its a good shot that it'll pop back up in 10-20 seconds unless she JUST teleported. In which case, why are you trying to grab a tape while she is nearby?
How does a survivor know if Sadako recently teleported to a specific TV they see? Is there some sort of tell? I’m asking because you said it should pop on in 10-20 seconds but only if she hasn’t ‘just’ used it. I didn’t see anything in the patchnotes about signs that indicate to survivors how much longer a TV has on cooldown.

Because it happens 20 seconds into the match? Better question is, why is the stupid 4% mechanic even in the game to begin with? Its a dumb mechanic that makes it so a match can be entirely decided by RNG. Same with the struggle mechanic. Both should go IMO because they allow for this type of thing, and there isn't anything lost by having them removed.
Things like deliverance are fine because it isn't RNG based, but i think the entire luck mechanic should be reworked or removed, along with perks like slippery meat.
It’s in the game so that if a survivor goes down 20 seconds into a match they have some chance of resolving the issue because 1.) It shouldn’t be up to other players (killers or survivors) whether you get to play the game or not & 2.) If there is a small chance you can escape death you may play with less abandon.

Arbitrary rules and the ways they can break a system!
It's pretty dumb for Survivor models to be included in a ban rule.
It's even dumber they got past the lobby while have Nic Cage picked in the first place.
The most dumb thing is that Eternal knows the rules and one of them still tried to fly close to the sun!
At the of the day you can't even be mad at the Wraith player cause regardless of their inner intent, they upheld the integrity of the ruleset! Did they probably call them out due to taking an L? Very likely so. Did they keep the honor of Community Cup intact? Definitely by letter of the law. XDD
They really should sort out their ruleset and Judges/TOs should definitely be more observant so things don't get this far to begin.
I’m wondering why the overseer or whatever didn’t say anything before the match? They saw Nic Cage in the lobby. They could have pointed out it was an infraction. It’s weird no one said anything & let them play through.
