This is an incredibly dumb, context-blind argument. The 3-second DS was a completely different beast to the DS that got its duration cut in half.
The only people that cling to 'it was always supposed to go back to 3 seconds!' are killer mains that just really want to be able to tunnel without any recourse for survivors.
To that same note Bloodlust was supposed to go away with infinites but killer mains don’t like being reminded of that. They’ll come up with a million and one reasons why bloodlust is still necessary. Lol

If you see the killer is playing for the 4k and you're concerned about time being wasted, you can always run up to the killer as the last survivor and offer yourself up, ending the game immediately - no hatch, no slugging, no egc.
I don't see this becoming a popular choice, though.
The person’s time being wasted is the slugged survivor, not the final survivor standing. It seems counterintuitive and against normal gameplay to give oneself to the killer.

She is iconic, but at the end of the day she is still just a skin, essentially.
I've been playing mostly surv because of the bonus so I can get both her and Xeno to P3 as quickly as possible, and Ripley will be a permanent fixture in my surv rotation, but functionally she's still the same as the other survs. Plus you can just earn your BP with Xeno and use them on Ripley.
The killer is always going to be the real shiny new toy of any full chapter.
That’s fair but I guess I thought there were more survivor mains than killer mains. Doesn’t seem to bear out much though.
-
@Thusly_Boned said:
Well I think solo queue right at this moment is as bad as ever because many of the better players are playing as the new popular killer (the best players always play both sides, and this is also part of the reason why the bonus has been stuck on surv since Xeno dropped), and because the playerbase is being flooded by people who don't often play or may have started playing because of this chapter.
IIRC, every time a really hyped/popular killer has dropped there has been a talent drain from the surv side to the killer side for a short while.
That said, my solo queue teammates the past week plus have been as bad as I can ever remember. I think this is having as much do do with people's angst over Xeno as the killer itself.
I do not however feel like this is because survivor has been nerfed too much. I think in terms of overall game design, DBD is as balanced as it has ever been (not nearly as much as it could be, though).
This seems reasonable but I wonder why people aren’t as excited to play Ripley. She’s just as iconic as the xenomorph. And she does come with unique perks.

In what way? Because they were working in the exact same way they had been working for more than 4 years (last changes were in patch 2.3.0).
It was never stated to be a bug by the devs. It was labelled as an issue, which can also mean an oversight in coding (like Spirit's and Bubba's addons). Or killers not looking down after a successful hit. However that would also imply, that we never actually had the "right" fast vaults before. Meaning you wouldn't even make this argument, if they had never tempered with fast vaults to begin with.
They didn’t give additional speed or distance or even allow you to maintain your current speed. They did the exact same thing as medium vaults. And they were acknowledged by the devs as being bugged—which was why they were altered/fixed/changed into the mega fast vaults that were dialed back. Peanits just mentioned it above. It’s the whole reason why fast vaults were recently changed at all: they were bugged. Lol

I don't know what is happeing to this world...
Am I missing something? Satire, sarcasm, irony? There’s gotta be some hidden context to your post because people complain about every single one of those things on a near daily basis.

@Rickprado said:
Yeah, because the "New" vaults which gave iframes midjump was very fair.
TBH, the vaults were fine - most of the problem comes from latency - i don't think Behaviour was supposed to nerf or buff them. Hope they revert it back to they it was before Nicolas Cage patch and leave as it is.
Fast vaults prior to the Nic Cage patch were also bugged. They gave the same distance as medium vaults which was unintended. The reason fast vaults changed was because the devs were trying to fix a bug (an old bug but a bug nevertheless).
-
@Xernoton said:
Fast vaults (for male survivors) are just as they have always been. No difference. Fast vaults still exist.
It's just that female survivors are bugged and don't get the full distance of the fast vault, which in turn results in slower vault speeds as well.
The reason they reverted the changes to fast vaults is probably that this caused numerous issues like survivor i-frames, animations not working properly and even the bug with male and female survivors. It's likely they try to fix these issues and will reintroduce the changes at a later point.
You do realize that the fast vaults we had prior to the ones where male survivors went further were also bugged, right?

Survivors escaping due to a lucky hatch has nothing to do with a challenge. If the killer is at the point where they slug for the 4K, they've already beaten the challenge.
Evidently not. You didn’t really kill all four; bleedout doesn’t count in the dev’s eyes b/c it isn’t how they intend the game to be played. If you dislike it tag a dev and asked why they changed it. 🤷♀️

I dunno why he said that. Your MMR varies between killers but only slightly. The devs don’t let each killer on a player’s system have a low to high individual MMR for obvious reasons.

Survivors get 110% speed boost in end game making them as fast as some killers and making other killer the same as tier 1 Myers.
"Killer can just bring an easily destroyed 4% speed boost to counter it"
Make it make sense.
Killers should be applying pressure throughout the match but if all 4 survivors make it to endgame, killers do have contingency perks to help them: NOED, No Way Out, Bloodwarden, Fired Up, etc.

I think they're really frustrating and pull you out of your power for way too long. I just don't think the concept of giving survivors the ability to cancel a killer's power is a good one. They should be able to counter it, but not straight up cancel it for a length of time a la Singularity and Xenomorph. This forces the killer into a lose-lose. You either lose efficiency to work around it or try to bludgeon your way through, but there's no counter to the counter, just mitigation. It's just frustration by design against high level players.
And yet very inefficient against mid to low level players.
-
People are probably going to play both Xeno and their favorite killer. Or they’re attempting daily challenges. They may even be doing tome challenges. The Xenomorph isn’t a weak killer by any means.
-
Canon-wise the drones don’t have sexes because only queens and empresses can reproduce. The “king” technically is male. If we’re treating them like insect castes then all are female (but infertile beyond queens & empresses) besides the “king.”

Even if this is the case and every M1-Killer which COULD do it with Ability or addon, it works only once, because survivors dont heal. Healing takes longer, being injured is no dangerous position thanks to Endurance everywhere and here the insta-down-strategy is demised.
Then don’t injure them. Use your insta-down ability. If survivors aren’t prioritizing healing it’s because it wastes more time than pushing gens. But the healing nerfs are what killers wanted. Now they must reap the consequences of their desire.

Yeah, still not 100% on my mind games but even when playing optimally, M1 killers are pretty hard to play as right now.
Especially because a lot of good survivors react fast enough to nullify mind games at stronger loops.
Depends on the m1 killer. Ghostface and Myers have insta-down abilities and Ghostface is pretty fast in nightshade. He has always done surprisingly well but is probably better now with his buffs. Myers… eh. He’s not great unless you run a slowdown build and do Tombstone at which point he’s pretty decent.

any already readied-up lobby;
This one is actually fair. It indicates you have been backfilled. So you're avoiding a genuinely unfair match, and you're not creating a new backfill opening, simply shifting it sideways.
No it doesn’t. If I quit or DC for whatever reason in the lobby as killer after the survivors have readied up their next killer will just see them all readied. And they could be a lobby full of newbie or lower-skilled players (and would be because my killer MMR is low).

BHVR is pushing killers to tunnel stronger and stronger. I'm not sure why, but that's their design path, at the moment. They keep giving survivors stronger and stronger options where playing "nice" and taking turns on hooks and such simply isn't even possible anymore - at least on m1 killers. Made For This, adrenaline, hope, buckle up and for the people - the power role is practically shifted over to survivors at this point. The M1 killer option there is is to either give up playing those killers and just play Nurse\Blight, or tunnel extremely aggressively to make the endgame more bearable. There's just so much power survivors have right now that eliminating one player asap is mandatory.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3526467#Comment_3526467
For M1 Killers, they still can't keep up with MFT and the all you can eat buffet of endurance and looping perks.
Don’t most of the m1 killers have insta-down abilities though? So if they’re using their powers correctly they don’t really proc MFT because they aren’t chasing injured survivors. They’re chasing healthy survivors who don’t have access to Made for This.

many SWFs don't use voice comms... so they had the exact same game information as solo q, even though they are in a SWF.
i would not consider that a swf. I would just consider that soloq with friends.
aura reading is pixel perfect information of where the survivor is, which is way more accurate than what most people are communicating via voice comms. And auras give constantly updated information.
you do not need pixel perfect information in dbd. you only need approximate information to do like 95% dbd plays. another method that some games use for approximate information is pings. I don't think ping works too well in dbd. dbd gameplay just does not fit with pings. there would be too many pings. spamming ping would be too annoying. disrupts the peaceful nature of the game.
Doesn’t Sonny counter cook by seeing the killer’s auras and sharing that info with his own team (victims) at level 3? I keep seeing that Cook and Sonny are ability rivals

But that means giving up mid and early game entirely.
Not necessarily. You should still be applying pressure throughout the match but Endgame builds can function as comeback mechanics if you’re somehow unable to do this. As killer you’re still faster than survivors, you can bloodlust them down if you aren’t for whatever reason able to mindgame or out position them. You can force them to burn through resources as well, all before endgame. The endgame build doesn’t mean you do nothing until endgame. You realize that, correct?

I had already tried 4 or 5 chases and most of them weren’t going my way. I saw a previously injured survivor and though it would be my only way to generate some slight pressure.
Either way it was a pretty cracked SWF so I probably would have been gen rushed anyways lol
Ok that’s understandable. If you can’t get them in chase though sometimes you have to trip them up with mindgames

Even a screenshot of the scoreboard would be helpful. 3 gens in 50 seconds just doesn't seem plausible to me.
It would take two survivors with bonus repair speed from either a toolbox, Prove Thyself or Deja Vu to get a gen down to 50 seconds.
And a single survivor shouldn't be able to solo a gen in 50 seconds unless they maybe stacked Deja Vu, with a Commodious Toolbox and a BNP and maybe even need perfectly executed Hyperfocus on top of that? And two survivors each pulling this off?
It doesn't take much math to figure out this seems farfetched. TWO gens in 50 seconds, totally plausible.
But hyperbole aside, all gens done in maybe 4 minutes isn't exactly fair either.
Not to mention the killer would have had to ignore all four survivors for the full 4 minutes

I disagree that Exhaustion add-ons shouldn't exist, but I do agree that Pig's just incentivizes tunneling. I am not opposed to more M1 Killers having a Blindness and Exhaustion add-on to help stifle complaints of Windows and [insert Flavor of the Month Exhaustion perk here], while not helping Killers who don't need it like Blight/Nurse/Spirit. I'd argue Huntress' is probably the best designed of the current lot. Ghosties are a bit odd, but decently designed (If you get the drop on them, you get 5s and Exposed, if they get the drop on you, you get 10s instead).
Some exhaustion effects that could be fairly easily implemented are probably Legion, (5-10s on 2nd and further chain hits, like the item drop add-on) Myers, (when fully stalked, is permanently exhausted) Freddy, (5s on power affecting a sleeping Surv) Clown, (2-5s on Purple Gas) and Doctor (while at T3, like I believe the old Iri King did).
The problem with your suggestion is that BHVR would constantly need to change killer add-ons to counter whatever the survivor META is at the time, while not doing anything at all to help survivors. Not exactly balanced, impartial, or fair.

Wesker have 8% which is 4% higher than average and 2% higher than the next after him (Huntress 6%)

I do see Wesker A LOT, but singularity less and less.

Killrates have dropped significally, even lower than pre 6.1.0

According to nightlight, more people play Singularity than Wesker.

I mean you can try to manage tapes but remember when she hits you, you gain two stacks of condemn and now you’ve got a TV on cooldown since you took a tape. There’s no aura for her TVs unless you’re holding a tape already, some survivors struggle to find them. And while you’re wasting time trying to find a tape you aren’t doing gens but may be wasting pallets (if you’re in chase). It ain’t always survivors’ fault. Sometimes a killer is just oppressive and that’s ok.
-
Woah. Why were you looping one survivor for 2 minutes? That seems like throwing the match???

I'm tired of people using one killer as a reason to give all killers a giant nerf, and I'm tired of people pretending this problem is 100% the fault of killers, when survivors are sometimes also at fault for excessively pre-leaving the generators.
The problem needs to be fixed on both sides. This shouldn't be a 100% nerf for killers.
The Skull Merchant has an add-on that allows her drones to inflict the exposed status. If the survivors don’t leave the area within like seconds they’ll become exposed, and she’s in Undectable status because she has another add-on to grant that. So they don’t even know she’s coming. I know it’s always the survivor’s fault in your head but riddle me this, what should survivors do here, since they’re leaving the 3-gen too soon?

"Survivors can just do whichever gens they come across and not get punished for it."
The thing is, this is not how it is anymore. A few years ago, I would agree, 3-genning was on the Survivor-part. However, nowadays Killers start to 3-Gen from the start. And the Survivors cannot really do anything about it. You can keep the other 4 Gens at 99%, finish them or dont touch them at all. As long as the Killer defends the 3-Gen without any intention to move or down Survivors, the Survivors will not be able to do one of those 3 gens.
And nowadays it is just extreme with Killers holding the game hostage for up to an hour (or until the Survivors just give up) just for the Server to close the game. Skull Merchant is the best Killer in doing this, but other Killers can do it to. Granted, it depends more on the Map for other Killers, but some Maps, especially newer and reworked ones can spawn some very nasty 3-Gens. On reworked Blood Lodge I have seen a 3-Gen with a Gen in Shack and one of each side of the Shack. Really easy to protect and the only Pallet in that area was 1 Car Loop and Shack Pallet.
The Killer did not use this 3-Gen, if they would, they would have won without any doubt.
Doesn’t new RPD spawn with a guaranteed 3-gen? Or did the devs change that?

Some killers will always tunnel, some will always camp.
Im just saying, that I personally would love to go for more chases and still have a chance at winning.
End game right now is unplayable. (If you don't play "insert strong killer")
But you can make an entirely viable build around endgame and it pretty much works for all killers.

I tank hits all the time as a solo player, but only in certain situations, and almost never when injured (unless I have no hooks and the person I am protecting is on death hook or something). Even as a solo player I view hook states as a team resource, but in the spirit of what it seems the intent of the devs is, I never body block right off hook, I scram.
Of course there's little or no way to be sure who is or isn't in a SWF, but I can tell you that this is not a rare occurrence for me to witness, and I see it consistently in matches where I confidently feel I am facing a SWF.
I’d expect it with a SWF. Coordination and altruism are features that make SWF groups good, after all. And I do it when I SWF myself. But I also play a lot of solo queue games. Tanking hits is very uncommon there.

I mean of course I chase them out as well, but half the time I have two Survivors at one Exit Gate, I chase them out, then I have to run all the way across the map just to force the other two Survivors at the other Exit Gate who refuse to leave.
Again, I dont mind the BM, Im use to it, just over time I have found it to be such a waste of time, and by that point I want to move onto the next match anyways.
Oh if multiple survivors make it to endgame when I play killer they’re usually all at the same gate. They don’t open both.
