I kinda feel a bit bad for the survivors tho..the harvester right back to being a terribly weak loop. Can we please open another rancid abattoir window in the main building now.
That’s the whole map. Lol. I believe they’re all full of weak loops and dead zones now.
-
Bloodlust was initially created to deal with infinites, which do not exist in this game anymore on any map. The mechanic remains because killers are so used to it now that when BHVR tried to remove it, the outcry was massive. It’s pretty much MFT but better and for killers.

My most recent DbD rage quit actually came on my first game of the day over the weekend. Took first chase against Wesker. Chained an L/T to log pallet to main building on Yamaoka for 2 gens. Didn't get touched for 2 whole gens. Wesker leaves me. Within the next 45 seconds, 2 teammates are slugged and one d/cs.
Matchmaking for solo queue is so unacceptably bad right now. How is it this bad? Is it even turned on? Is there matchmaking even happening for solo players? Why do more competitive solo players not matter? How many threads of this topic do we need before we even get a SoonTM?
This concern/question has been addressed a couple of timtimes a by Peanits. His statements were basically (I’m paraphrasing) the game prioritizes queue times over a more precise placement among skill levels because people complained about long queue times when they used SBMM, skill level availability varies considerably (by time, region, etc), and sometimes there just aren’t enough people within your MMR bracket to place you with people exactly where you are. It’s especially bad for survivors because you need 4 survivors for every 1 killer, so you’d need 4 survivors and 1 killer with identical MMR ratings to create a ‘fair’ matchup. It’s easier to find 1 killer with a specific MMR than 4 survivors, so the game has to expand to find ‘suitable’ pairings. This is done largely by making the matchmaking system somewhat generous when it expands to find teammates. The only way to really fix it without basically blowing up queue times would unbalance the game. You’d really need to bring players up so they’re more stabilized across MMR—especially, especially survivors. On top of that you also have lobbydodging/backfilling messing things up.

No more than its the killers job to let the 4th one get hatch. They're two sides of the same coin.
But slugging for the 4K isn’t about the 4th survivor; it’s the 3rd survivor who suffers, so to speak. And if a killer is slugging for a 4K they aren’t ‘letting’ a survivor have hatch.

Hmm, except that you are twisting them to fit your narrtive right now, and have been doing that within your previous response aswell. You're probably oblivious to that, unless you're literally pulling my leg here.
It goes hand in hand - If somebody's not having fun and decides to ruin it to the other players, guess what.. Other players aren't gonna have fun aswell. The only way to break this repeatable cycle is to change your point of view or make it so that the other people will have fun, even if it's at your expense. Sooner or later, you will see people returning the favour, but it's of no wonder that you're not thinking along such lines, as you're only contributing to the issue at hand instead of trying to make things better for yourself and the other people around you.
If you're not willing to stay in the match, please, don't even bother playing the game in the first place. I don't wanna have my time ruined just because somebody's entitled and believes that the world circles around them, but I guess that this goes both ways too, doesn't it.. Which at that point, the discussion becomes pretty much pointless and with no way around what's going on, unless something convinces players to keep playing the matches.
…If you really feel that people quitting games “ruins” your personal gaming experiences, perhaps you should play with bots? You wouldn’t have to worry about people not playing for your personal enjoyment then, now would you? :)

The maximum penalty is harsh, but it either takes too many ragequits to get there, or the penalty decays too quickly, because I’m seeing way too many ragequits.
A lot of people think they get X amount of free ragequits per week, and they want to use all of them.
The time penalty escalates with each DC and increases significantly between DC 2 and 3, depending on how frequently that player has DC’d in the past. It only shoots up from there, really. People who have DC’d a lot in the past also receive much stiffer penalties.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:

Survivors should remain in matches because ragequitting is unsportmanlike. And no one is saying people should be literally forced into staying in a match. But we are saying there should be harsher ragequitting penalties for people that ragequit too much.
And if harsher ragequitting penalties are made, people should still have the choice to ragequit... But we should realize that freedom to ragequit isn't the same thing as freedom from penalties.
The penalties are harsh. Disconnecting players can receive up to a week-long ban, I believe?

DS was also nerfed to uselessness, and I’m not sure why Lithe is there. I wouldn’t consider Deliverance or Unbreakable nearly as utilitarian as the other perks. Bad meme.

And that is fine.. My point was that they do ruin the match to other players and instead of taking a break until they feel better, they do head into the next match only to repeat the entire process once more, because, of course, nitpicking all the faults within the game is a very easy task for them to do to justify their own actions to themselves.
There's really no need to twist my words or to purposefully miss my point just for the sake of thinking that I do gotta be wrong.
Hon, I needn’t twist your words and it’s not about being right or wrong. The essence of your whole comment was that survivors should remain in matches where they aren’t having fun because somebody elses fun is more important than their own. My response was that’s unrealistic, no game can force it, and no matter how you try to dress it up (“they should stay and learn from their mistakes/loss!” “They should play so that other people have fun, be compassionate” or whatever) it’s not gonna happen. People buy and play video games for their own entertainment, not the fulfillment of others. And that goes for killers AND survivors. It’s just the truth.

Using pallets is a braindead tactic now? When was it not? Pallets are pallets and they always have been a key aspect in the game. Are you the Ghostface? I'm so sorry I should just give you a free hit and not use pallets to my advantage as you walk through each one without a care in the world.
Are you implying good survivors don't use pallets? This is just so silly I don't know how you read that and said yeah this is good.
No one was talking about skill and yet you mention it. Was stunning the Ghostface skillful? No, because he wasn't mind-gaming at all. Was it the right thing to do? Yes, because it avoided a unnecessary hit.
Genuinely what is your point here?

If the game's going badly, why not try to make a change? Why'd you go out of your way and even help the killer to make things worse.. It's almost as if you were enjoying losing at that point, because I can't see any reasonable reasoning why'd you wanna promote the stuff you're not fond of, including losing and one-sided matches for example. Like, do something about it instead of giving up, or at least try to..
Another thing you're mentioning are bloodpoints.. Fair. They might matter, but the moment you do get every single perk or the selection of perks you're comfortable with, they do become worthless. At that point, you do no longer care, so that does simply becomes an excuse whenever a veteran player claims so, not applying to the new players.
If you're being tunneled, get Off The Record and Decisive Strike.. Even if it's situational. Do fight what you hate and promote what you love or enjoy, no? So what that you don't get to use it if you equip it.. You were prepared, so you've done the right thing. You do run your loadout to promote your own gameplay and have fun, not to ruin somebody else's match.. So if the killer tunnels you, you do fight it and make it clear that tunneling you is the worst decision they can make.
The incentive isn't there.. It's the lack of morale. The motivation is to stay happy and behave like a person whom you wish to become in the future, nothing more and nothing less. It's no longer about the game, but about being happy with your decision makings.. Which also applies towards this game and the way you treat it; Don't wanna sweat? Then don't, and learn how to be satisfied with knowing that you've given it your all even if it wasn't good enough to outplay the competitive players.
It's up to each individual to learn how to handle losing and learn how to enjoy playing the games, how to learn how to no longer treat them competitively.. If they're incapable of donig that, they're not gonna have fun unless they win, period.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3564249#Comment_3564249
Kinda.. You do have the point, but self-unhooking shall stay in the game; What shall happen is to make self-unhooking without specific perks detectable by the game itself and make some penalties for repeatetive self-unhook actions in case X survivors are healthy, injured, or doing certain actions.
If no survivor is repairing a generator, healing themselves, (...) as shown in the HUD, then self-unhooking shall be OK and no longer punishable; However, the moment at least one survivor is doing something, then self-unhooking shall be detectable by the in-game report system and punish the player for doing so, unless they're running specific perks to increase the odds or having specific offerings burnt to increase them (could be burnt by other players) to promote reasonable unhooking and punish those who give up early.
Implementing a VOD history that can be watched by any BHVR member would be a good start to see, if the players is griefing or isn't griefing. Naturally, with that also implementing a replay feature to be able to tell if the killer who was facing you was cheating or wasn't, and so on..
We're kinda asleep with such features, as no matter where do you look, they're everywhere.. Literally everywhere.
People are penalized for DCing. You’ll never be able to force (survivor) players to remain in games or play games how you think they should. You need to let these fantasies go. If people don’t want to play, they won’t.

Dredge is not OP, and nightfall really isn’t that bad. It has decent counters.

To be fair I didn’t think facecamping was very common. Proxy camping has always been more common, and only a couple of killers could insta-down survivors who went in for saves—with one killer doing it reliably. And that killer isn’t very common to face. I think they could have put the time they did into anti-camp into something else.

It's not semantics to remind you what the point you're trying to argue against actually is.
We also are considering the real applications of those perks. There are a lot more viable perks than people think there are, and that's not only looking in a vacuum or talking hypothetically. In a real match, preparing for realistic scenarios, you have a lot of options for perks. You don't have to run four meta chase perks, and in fact, doing that is probably going to hurt your chances of winning in the long run.
I usually agree with your takes but not this one. Most (yes, a majority) of survivor perks are bad/inefficient. If one isn’t getting consistent value from a perk—that means it works more than once in a blue moon under the ‘right’ conditions—it isn’t a good perk. It’s a niche perk. And that is a bad perk. Most survivor perks fall into this.

It takes time to find totems. Pentimento is very common. And if all four survivors ran Inner Strength it still wouldn’t be more efficient than using Selfcare, which allows for unlimited healing at around the same cost investment.

Idk what games you get but healing cans till be VERY fast and have good gen progress. Also they only nerfed self healing speeds which were the problem about medkits.
Healing isn’t fast by any means or method. If you have multiple survivors healing it takes away from gens. If you use some circumstantial healing perk (like Inner Healing) you’ve still gotta account for the conditions necessary to activate the healing (in the case of Inner, finding a totem, cleansing it, entering a locker, etc).

What interests me is the diversity of perks throughout the years varies largely between survivor and killer.
Of the survivor perks, only 1 is relatively recent (MFT). Then there's a long gap to Windows Of Opportunity, and the rest are basically either from DBD's first year, with maybe a couple from the second year.
The killer perks are more varied. There are a couple of early ones such as NOED and Sloppy Butcher, but the rest are spread throughout the ages, with the most recent (Nowhere To Hide) was just last year.
This may be because more players on the survivor side will be using the original perks than on the killer side, but it's still interesting as to how differing this is between the two roles.
I suspect it’s because survivors don’t usually get good perks. When they do, they’re typically nerfed into being either bad, situationally niche, or meme; perks that in no case will help survivors escape most trials and more often than not are actually detrimental. This seems to be a relatively recent phenomenon (like within the last 2-3 years).

Bubba and Hillbilly can coexist and are way more similar than Trapper and Jason. Jason has plenty of source material to create an interesting and unique power upon and he is just the most recognizable Slasher.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3556550#Comment_3556550
The ownership may be split but Jason -as in the grown up ice hockey mask machete wielding one- is pretty much owned by one party along with any newer movies I think while the original movie with Pamela as killer, Camp Crystal Lake, Jason’s backstory are owned by the other one.
afaik those two will never work together and thus you can only have one of these.
at least that’s how I understood it. May be wrong on some details..
No you’re right, they share different things. But I remember one or both of them saying while they don’t like that they have to work together, they’re going to do it because they want to profit (paraphrasing). Then they mentioned a film in the works and how they were wanting to get Jason in some other stuff.
-
@ChaosWam said:
I get confused when people say killer is too easy these days. They must be playing the top tiers or something cuz' man, gens still fly like crazy unless you're playing your 120% against these cracked players.
And on survivor side, yes SoloQ is bad but I didn't play the game expecting to survive every match. Killer SHOULD be the intimidating role, which is why I dropped using meta and MFT/Haste combo because it trivialized the gameplay loop.
Should killers expect to win?
Can you name another game where people who play a specific role (something analogous to survivor/solo queue) should play the game with the expectation that they are going to lose? Another game, particularly a PvP game, where people who queue into a specific role do so with the understanding that victory should be some sort of pleasant surprise that isn’t common?
-
I thought the legal quagmire of ownership for Jason was settled? The two guys share rights now and basically have to agree on anything that would include Jason. But they’re making a new film together or something, and have stated jointly and separately they’re ok with Jason appearing in some other forms of media (games) b/c it’s more money for them.

Pentimento - requires a secondary hex perk to work like plaything, or a survivor doing a totem challange to even start activating, then can be countered just by cleaning out the totems again - fine as is.
Buckle up - Did not need the 10s of endurance, a proper "buff" would have been keeping the 10% haste and giving 1-2 seconds of endurance to protect the pickup if the killer swung right away. a guaranteed free escape in endgame thanks to BU is fundamentally unhealthy.
STBFL - Perk requires M1s only, takes time to build up stacks, stacks can be lost if you M1 the obession , only rework it could use is making it so M2s on the obsession also consumed tokens. otherwise, its fine as is.
Adrenaline - much like otz said, adren working off the hook and giving a speedboost + free healthstate is ridiculous. perk needs to be reworked to only activate IF you're the one to finish the last gen AND cannot trigger off the hook. having your last chase be essentially reset because adren goes brrr is fundamentally unhealthy.
MFT - Has been discussed before, but to keep it simple, 20-30% chase extension just for holding W + the free 10s endurance on any heal is fundamentally unhealthy, perk should have never made it past the brainstorm stage.
Knockout - only purpose is to literally slug, perk could be deleted and nothing of value would be lost.
Deliverance - Encourages tunneling, and punishes the killer for *not tunneling* by deleting pressure for free. Perk needs to be reworked to work the other way around, if the killer tunnels the person you just unhooked then you get deliverance. until then, its unhealthy.
NWO - Only issue is the 1v1, otherwise its fine.
Power struggle , forced hesitation , boil over, pain res, UW, FTD,Coulrophobia and rancor are fine as is.
Hope - allowing survivors to be as fast or almost as fast as the killer will never be balanced, perk needs to have a time limit. unhealthy.
Streetwise - Stacks on itself, allows a Wirespool+Socket commodius to crank out 60~/90 charges off a gen in roughly 30 seconds, stacks with itself for even bigger benefits. Pureform genslam perk. extremely unhealthy.
Hyperfocus - fine as is, only problematic when paired with other genslam perks.
OTR - Much like otz mentioned, 80s is way too long, allows the unhooker to bodyblock for essentially free, which defeats its purpose of "anti tunneling", allows the survivor to interact with killer powers without losing the endurance. Any anti-tunneling perk that can be used offensively to punish the killer for *not tunneling* is fundamentally unhealthy.
Noed + insidious - unhealthy.
Shattered hope should be basekit.
Your takes are somehow worse than Otz’s.

I never said she was weak. I just find her incredibly boring to play now. I don't need to think about what I'm doing when I play her. Just teleport when survivors don't have tapes and play hit and run. Eventually you will have someone, that you know is almost completely condemned. Then you focus on them and from there everything goes south for the survivors.
I haven't complained about her play style. I just find her both annoying to play as and against. The same way I find a good Doctor or Pig annoying to play against. Because they can make your match very unpleasant. If you have fun facing her, then good for you. But it's pretty obvious, that Sadako is not very high up on the list of fun killers to play against. She doesn't chase all that much and she is pretty nasty for solo queue survivors to face.
Oh, ok. Just seemed like you were complaining about her. I don’t find her boring to play at all. She’s really fun because she has extraordinary game control. 🤷🏽♀️

I mean, you aren't wrong. But Freddy went from weak but interesting to broken and boring to weak and boring.
So that isn't much of an improvement. Can't say, if it's an improvement at all because I never got to play pre rework Freddy and the game has changed quite a bit too.
I also, don't agree that Sadako was that weak. She could be played in a different way (focused on condemnation) even without addons and that was pretty strong. Now she is just annoying.
Sadako isn’t that bad though? Her condemned strategy gives amazing map pressure, gen defense, and lowkey lets you steamroll through most survivor teams. It’s not like she’s very common now though so it shouldn’t be too tough to put up with. Plus you’re a killer main so I dunno why you’d complain about her. You normally defend every killer playstyle but for some reason you draw the line with her.

No.
If you want to compete and win. You will do what is necessary to win.
If SWF is required to win, because the game is balanced around the advantages that it has you will do that.
Now, as I don't think the game is balanced to require that, I can mention my take on it, which is:
Learn to run with your face in the smooth loopable structures on each map and you'll be good enough to contribute your 1/4 of the work toward a group win.
This game isn’t balanced around SWF. And games that are balanced around high-level play (for any role: See Friday the 13th, see Deathgarden) die. Why do you think that is? (Rhetorical)
-
Why would any killer player fear it? Survivors have zero tools to stop it.

I would think most players would want to play better over time.
If a SWF is part of that growth path, I would assume the soloQ would want to do that.
It somehow feels a little misplaced in its punitive focus to hold back balancing simply because some players have other people phobia.
SWF is the natural growth path for survivor game play? I don’t think I’ve ever played a single game in the history of gaming where playing as a team with friends was mandatory for decent gameplay. Not extraordinary, not good. Just decent. You may want to rethink your take here, bub.

It isn't your fault that Pig is a weak Killer, but you need to have realistic expectations.
If you try to play Pig like you play Blight, it's probably not gonna go well.
Once again, it sounds like your issue is with map design and Killer power level. If you change MFT, all you've done is avoid the actual issue.
The issue here, and what isn’t being said by this person and many others, is that they really want killers like Pig to bulldoze through survivors like Blight and Nurse can. Against all killers, they want the counter for survivors should be “just don’t get caught/downed bro” 🤷🏽♀️

I never said I expect to win. Killers should have the superior role in DBD. You can play survivor perk-less and still win or die with 20k plus points. The killer should have that privilege imo
You can’t win as survivor that way. Lol.

That mindset is big reason why soloQ is so bad. Then you wonder why you lost 3-5 gens remaining...
I don’t wonder that at all. Because it doesn’t happen in my games. I don’t recall you chipping in money when I purchased DBD. Not sure why I’d play for your benefit…? In any event if you require altruism you may want to find a SWF. It’s absurd to expect literal strangers to play a game in a way that you personally have fun while they do not.

It was pyramidhead you can do the save even alone agains't him and graps are removed so at worst case it's going to be trade.
And they were solo queue. So why would they risk their own escape for a stranger?
