You realise this is a 4v1 right?

The survivor is never supposed to win a 1v1 outright, only delay the inevitable.

It is still not skillful when the bad player wins because they get a speedboost after they failed to catch the Survivor for 15 seconds. So people should not act as if dropped unsafe pallets are fair. They are, for 15 seconds, but after that, this is not the case anymore.

And what would speak against having no Bloodlust, but only Pallets which can be played by both sides? So that the better player wins? (And dont try to use the phrase "it is a 4v1", this is such a lame non-argument)

  • I saw a P100-Clown a few days ago. Not the rarest Killer I go against, but certainly not something I would expect to see.

How big a deal is 2 m/s down to 1.2 m/s? I didn't play the PTB so much rougher this is about to be.

It was fine on PTB. And it was a buff that nobody really asked for. The main concern were the turrets.

The game is borderline unplayable without Bloodlust which is a design issue rather than a player interaction issue.

I mean, ideally the game should resolve a lot of unsafe Pallets and no Bloodlust. Because this would actually mean that the better player wins.

But claiming that this is the case with Bloodlust involved is just wrong. Because after 15 seconds, the better player loses because the worse player got a Speedboost.

playing dropped pallets where killer has opportunity to hit the survivor and you have opportunity to outsmart killer is some the most interesting gameplay. what kind of gameplay are you looking for? pallet break and singularity EMP spam simulator? skull merchant 3 gen simulator?

I would agree, if Bloodlust would not exist. So even if the Survivor plays better, they will lose.

That's the logical consequence when BHVR nerf his mobility with the overheat adjustments, invisible walls to prevent Skybilly and unnecessary clutter on most maps, as well as maps like RPD that have exactly 3 spots to use the chainsaw for mobility (outside, main room and the corridor in the east), all while buffing his camping capabilities and creating more and more maps with loop shapes that make it almost impossible to play around with the chainsaw (looking at you Borgo, Eyrie, Garden of Misery, Toba Landing and Nostromo).

I (and many others) warned them, that this would happen, if they keep nerfing his mobility. At this point, they should just remove the overheat mechanic. It doesn't serve any healthy purpose anymore and there are other killers (like Xenomorph) who are allowed to use their mobility constantly as well. It would also bring back Driftking Billy.

I would agree that Overheat can be removed because it does not serve any purpose anymore because it was watered down a lot.

However, when it was implemented, I think Overheat was a good thing. If you are good with Billy, you wont notice it anyway because your Chainsaw will most likely only need to cool down while you carry Survivors to the Hook. And a punishment for missing too many chainsaws was fine IMO. However, in retrospecit, I think removing Chargetime and Cooldown might have been enough. Because the bad Billy-players who got rewarded with Chainsaw Hits where those who had a combination of Chargetime and Cooldown (mostly Tuning Guide and Thompson Mix) because there was not really a punishment for missing. So the fact that those got removed probably would have been enough already.

But I totally agree with the Maps. Some Maps are just horrible for Billy because of all those little twigs and things which stick out at loops where you bump into. Also since they reworked his animations, he does not really feel good and Shadowborn is mandatory for me.

IMO if they fix the FoV and shrink his Chainsaw-Hitbox a bit (it is massive, makes it easier to hit Survivors, but also easier to bump into things), I think this would already help him a lot. And I think this would help more than removing Overheat or changing his Add-Ons.

I don't lobbyshop to look for baby teams, those games are miserable for everyone involved. However, if I end up against multiple high prestige survivors or multiple TTVs who are obviously SWFing, then I'm gonna dodge.

Yes, high prestige doesn't -always- mean the survivors are amazing but most of the time it does, and the times when I -don't- lobby dodge and decide to play the game, it's almost always miserable and kills my drive to continue playing.

I'd completely understand if they removed lobby shopping, but as long as it's an option, for my own mental health I'm gonna do it, and it's clear -many- other killer players do the same.

Again, the bigger issue that needs fixing is backfilling ignoring MMR, that shouldn't be a thing.

Personally I would also remove all the information aside from Characters and Items. Gameplay-wise there is 0 reason why someone should see the Profile of another player before the game starts. This would remove things like dodging because of hours, SWFs or Streamers. I also dont really think that going against TTVs is that different. Most of them only stream to a handful of viewers anyway.

And while you might not lobbydodge to get the easiest games, I know people do. There is a streamer I know (dont watch them, because they are unbearable to watch), but they have 14k hours, are a Nurse-Main since the start (including Legacy) and still check every profile in the Lobby and dodge. This might be an extreme example, but you would guess that someone with that many hours on the strongest Killer in the game might not need to lobbyshop. And if someone like that does it, others do it was well.

When it comes to backfilling ignoring MMR.. This is due to queuetimes. BHVR wants to keep them low and it is understandable. I mean, if I look at my games when I play Survivor (evening, incentive is on Killer at this point in my region) - lets say it takes 1-2 minutes for searching a game. Then we are in the Lobby, Killer checks profiles and dodges. Now the next Killer will need like 20 seconds to be in the Lobby, starts checking profiles (takes maybe 20 seconds as well) and dodges. And this repeats a few times. This adds up. And if we consider that this is with MMR not being that relevant for the Matchmaker, it might just increase to unreasonable times the Survivors have to wait in the Lobby for no real reason. Now WITH MMR being a big factor when it comes to backfilling, it will probably take really long for a new Killer to be in the Lobby (compared to now) and if they dodge again...yeah.

And while they are at it, also show the other survivors in the lobby the 4 little perk symbols over their heads or something like that.

True. When Lobbydodging is not really possible without a penalty anymore, it should be fine to show the other Survivors the Perks of their teammates in the Lobby without the fear of them dodging because someone does not play full meta or something like that.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3540637#Comment_3540637

If they did introduce that they need a one time per day allowance or something. I've had situations where I've thought I've had time for one more game and something has happened while waiting in the lobby I'd had to turn the game off.

I mean, I understand this, but this is also the reason why the DC-Penalty starts low. So even if you would get a penalty, it would be a small one and you would probably not notice it anyway since it is gone when you return to the game.

  • Bad. I get the idea, but gameplay should be above realism here. Yes, it would be realistic that Xeno would drop the Survivor if it gets burned. But this would make Turrets basically portable pallets for Saves.

It would also remove the purpose of the Turrets - currently they are not doing much against Xeno in the way they are intended to work (which should be looked at). But if this would come into the game, I would never put a turret in a loop or anything (because it would be ineffective) and rather put it next to Hooks.

you have fun when there's a cheater in your lobby? weird

Nope. But my job is to repair Gens. Not helping the Killer to get a exploiter so that I can be killed next.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It punishes new killers like the example in OP's post, and it punishes survivors too. Sometimes really experienced killers are the ones who backfill into average or low MMR survivor lobbies. I'll have games on where I 12 hook at 4 or 5 gens and it's pretty clear I backfilled into it. I feel bad when it happens.

Zero-logic backfills shouldn't be happening and players shouldn't be able to freely dodge any lobby they want. The game needs a lobby dodge penalty. The type of player who constantly dodges lobbies is typically a player that doesn't actually want a balanced game anyway.

I have honestly rarely seen it this way. Sometimes I get into games where the Survivors are way below my level, but I always think that I maybe did not play the Killer enough in the past time so my MMR on them dropped.

But yeah, this can also happen, this is true. But we wont see complaints about this here.

IMO Lobbydodging should also go into the DC-penalty. Including quitting out in the Loading Screen. As compensation they could also remove quickswitching so that Killers can prepare.

  • Below 20, pretty sure about that. I mean, if you always play the side which has the Bonus, play A LOT of DBD and maybe even SWF with everyone bringing BPS... Sure, possible. But still very high.

going along with the exploiter's way IS helping the exploiter. as humans we shouldn't need treats for our good deeds, preventing cheating should be a good reward by itself regardless of the killer's appreciation.

Heartwarming. I will remind you the next time I read that you are not responsible for the fun of the other side.

  • I never used it back then, in fact, I did not even play. And I only use it on Nurse and Blight currently, so it might be possible that I will just be lazy, not use the FoV-Slider at all and keep using Shadowborn on those two Killers.

  • @Ryuhi said:

Its wild how the sardonic comments about killers lobby shopping always come out in these conversations, but not enough people say anything about fixing mmr when backfilling. It would fix the issue just as well.

Because this would further increase queuetimes. And if we consider that Killers who are more experienced at the game are more likely to dodge, this means that Survivors might wait a while before some Killer decides that they want a slight challenge.

  • @Mandy said:

The FOV Slider is still coming! We did say in our Reddit AMA that it can be expected either very late in 2023 or early in 2024 (please remember our timelines can change, and early 2024 can be in the first quarter of the year for example).

Is it planned to change Shadowborn as well or can it function as extra FoV if people prefer to use Shadowborn on top of the FoV-Slider?

  • @Krazzik said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3540419#Comment_3540419

I mean lobby-shopping is pretty much a necessity for many killers to actually be able to have fun in the game, but yes they should fix the backfilling breaking MMR.

It really is not. With the MMR at least somewhat accurate when nobody dodges the Lobby, it means that the Killer will most likely not have a guaranteed 4K, but they also wont be destroyed either. So if they lose, they wont feel powerless and if they win, it will not be easy.

The people who have the big disadvantage because of Killers dodging Lobbies until they find the most inexperienced group are Killers like in OPs post. Brand-new people who got into a game they should not be in. It should just not be the case that Killers can cherrypick their games and inexperienced players have to play against Survivors who are far stronger than they are.

I already wrote it a few times, but I experienced a P0 Trapper (Console, so no idea how many hours) without Tier 3-Perks who went up against our Survivor-Team which consistet of 2 2 man SWFs with 20k hours combined. They did not get bullied, but they surely did not have any chance. And that is because someone else chickend out, possibly a Killer with thousands of hours themselves. And this is just not fair.

And BHVR apparently think the same if they are starting to remove information from the Pregame-Lobby (with testing to not show the Prestige-Level). This is way too less and does not really help (I still have 8600 hours, even if I play my P5-Ellen, so Prestige Level does not really work anyway to see how experienced someone is..), but it is a start. Other possibilities would be to punish Lobby-Dodging like DCs or increase the wait timer for each time you dodge a Lobby. There are multiple solutions.

But having Killers cherrypick their games to have some new Players end up in Lobbies they should just not be in is not a solution.

  • They did not really give an ETA for it, so nobody will know when it will come to the game. But since we got some things which were mentioned before with the most recent Chapter, I think we are not that far off to getting an FoV-Slider in the near future.

Atleast own up to the entitlement.

Yep, I expect players to be nice if I help them with a challenge which they struggled so much that they needed the other side to help with that.

And since I cannot expect it, they should not expect me to help with their problem anymore. Simple as that. Of course I am a bad human being now for those poor tormented souls, but it is what it is. :)

    what are player cards?

    "what are player cards?"

Player cards are usually customizable things which can be presented. They can have banners, icons and other things on it. Maybe even stats, depending what the Devs want to do.

Here is an example from World of Tanks which shows personal stats:

    Untitled Image

This can be shown to the opponent when you destroy their tank. And it can show a variety of things.

So I guess we will have player cards which will be visible in the Lobby and/or the Postgame-Screen. Could just be the name with some Icons like favorite Killer, some Perk Icons or stuff like that. Personally, I would like to implement stats, because if you have big Achievements (e.g. many Hatchet Hits or something like that) you can only really show it off on external websites. If those stats would be available to show on the Player Card, it would be nice IMO.

Be real here, what do you expect people to do just because you were a decent person for 10 seconds? You expect killers to throw the match for you just because?

I dont expect survivors to hookicide just because i allowed them to do their glyph before downing and hooking them.

Good deeds dont expect to be "repaid" thats the point of a good deed.

Oh, I expect if someone pretends to be farming for their difficult Archive-Challenge, that I wont be hooked the third time. I am not farming anymore, I just complete Gens and be out of the game. Same with exploiters - they are not my problem, being a good person before did not help me, so I wont do it anymore. So I do Gens and the Killer should have fun being hold hostage by some weirdo in a locker.

But overall, the problem does not really come up anyway. People saying here that they got 10 games in a row with SWFs who bring Coins to get Flashlights are just lying. I did not get a single exploiter on Sunday and I did not get a single Survivor who tried to get Flashlights on Monday.

But I am probably the odd case again, as usual. :)

Many killers -do- appreciate when survivors don't go along with the cheater, but whatever suits your anti-killer narrative I guess.

Since they neither appreciated when I did not run the strongest Meta nor when I helped them with Archive-Challenges... I doubt they appreciate if someone helps them with Exploiters. It is a shame, but at some point, people dont want to help anymore.

  • Oh, I wont help. I just know that Killers dont appreciate it if someone helps them, so I will just not do that.

I will be out of the match at some point either way. The exploiter is not my problem when I am a Survivor.

  • @WilliamSN said:

Why shouldn't killer players worry about the potential of a "anti camp" mechanic inadvertently allowing survivors to get free unhooks because the rescuer happens to be trying to loop the killer on the tile the hooked person is?

Tribalism takes like yours aren't healthy viewpoints.

Because this is not how it will work. As written above. So if a Survivor is looping next to a hooked Survivor, they will still basically sabotage their team.

However, currently to get a safe Unhook (aka no trade) against a camping Killer, you need 2 Survivors for an Unhook. And this is not involving any Oneshots. This is not really reasonable and camping is really too strong if you need half the team to rescue one Survivor without having to trade.

And last but not least - it is just true that if a Killer is not camping, they wont be bothered by the mechanic at all. But again, BHVR has a history of trying to fix things but not being good at it. We have Anti-Camp Perks which dont really work against camping (Reassurance), we have Anti-Tunnel Perks which are not good against tunneling (since they all resolve around Endurance) and we even have something which should help Survivors when people DC (Bots) which wont really do anything.

So Killers really dont need to be worried, it will probably not be really impactful. (Especially since we know that proxy-camping will still be possible)

  • You wont have to worry about it being "abuseable" if you dont camp in the first place.

But dont worry, knowing BHVR a anti-camp-mechanic will be bad against camping.

  • @MikeStev said:

I hope they do something about Blight, either his addon or base power, just like Nurse. After they rework or change a few Nurse addon, the number of Nurse players decreases.

Hopefully not "like Nurse". The Devs so far have failed in changing Nurse in any significant way. Yes, her numbers drop for some time, then players realize she is the same broken Killer as usual and play her again.

When it comes to Blight, hopefully Add On-Changes. I dont think Basekit-Changes are needed, but once his most broken Add Ons are gone, we can see if he needs Basekit-Changes or not.

And I hope if they change his Add Ons that it is done in an interesting way. They should be fun and change the way to play him without being broken. We dont need Adrenaline Vial to become a Mangled Add On, Blighted Crow to become a Hemorrhage Add On and so on.

Once the crow hit any wall, it turns into a swarm. Doesn't matter how close. The locker should count as a wall and you'll have to land 4 crow hits against the survivor hiding in the locker, but it's possible it doesn't.

I am honestly not sure if a locker counts as a wall, I have never had this situation before.

  • @Crowman said:

Artist can still damage survivors. Takes longer than PH as it's 4 hits vs 2 hits.

I've also heard that Leatherface can still damage survivors likely via Tanturm against the locker and Myers can still kill with tombstone.

Shouldnt Artist be 2 hits as well if you are close to the locker?

undetectable hides her terror radius and red light, doesnt mask her super loud noises or her phase "terror radius"

directional audio is super easy to pinpoint her if youve got a good headset

the map wide phase is essentially just the sound but not directional (i think it removes all directional phase sound as well, but the addon doesnt say that [it mightve been a bug that got fixed at some point tho, outside the normal phase sound range it 100% isnt directional tho])

If I remember correctly, even with the map-wide phasing sound you still hear her phasing directional if she is close to you.

I think this Add On got forgotten over time. Because back then it used to be Prayer Beads which removed the phasing completely, probably one of the most hated Add Ons ever because you could just get grabbed from a Gen without knowing. Then they changed it to map-wide phasing, which means that you only got grabbed from Gens when you keep repairing them while she is phasing. But once they added the directional phasing, this is not really the case anymore.

So yeah, they probably just forgot about the Add On. (If I am correct that she is still directional with it)

Either the survivors finish gens or the killer downs them, and if the killer refuses to down the survivors can easily force him by doing the gens.

That being said, i dont even disagree that the killer should be changed.

Imo they can even killswitch her, i dont care.

but whats wrong with your toxic attidute of forcing your stupid opinion on others?

Besides that, this thread is about the locker exploit but ofc you are defending something like that once again.

But of that same note didnt they say if the survivors never even attempt to do the gens and just wait out the SM they are holding it hostage to?

At some point both sides have to commit in order for the game to end. At some point the Survivors have to try to do Gens, even if they risk dying. And at some point the Killer has to try to kill Survivors, even if this means they lose their 3-Gen. It is honestly really simple.

    dont spread false infos.

Game can atleast still progress there, with the locker exploit the game doesnt progress in any way until the abusers choose to.

Oh, it is holding the game hostage if the Killer has no desire to chase and down Survivors and just holds their 3-Gen.

I can search for the confirmation, if you actually want to change your opinion. If you would not change it even after I show you the post of a mod, I wont search.

I mean, the Killer still won when one Survivor escaped the Match. Nobody would say they lost when the only escape is a Hatch-Escape with Gens left.

  • Better Aura Perks came overtime and Nurses Calling was just powercrept. It is basically "Nowhere to Hide at home". And some others are also better than Nurses Calling.

Also Iron Will being irrelevant made Nurses Calling weaker. Because the area where you would still see them with Nurses Calling but not hear them because they are injured is pretty small. Not really worth using a Perk Slot for that if you can just hear them anyway when they are close.

  • My idea back then was that the Debuff and silent Cleansing/Chest Opening is only applied while in the Killers Terror Radius. Because if the Killer is far away, you wont need to be silent, but once you are in their TR, you are silent but have the Debuff. (Which also would make sense since you would be more careful to not make sounds, which results in you being slower)... Would also be a nice thing for Stealth Killers who would counter this.

However, choosing if you want to search silent and take the Debuff or just search normally is also a good idea. Would make the Perk more attractive for people who want it for the main purpose (not screaming) without giving Debuffs to them.

But honestly, I am agreeing to @OnryosTapeRentals ... They can just remove the Debuff. It is not really that big of a thing to cleanse Totems or open Chests without making sound and if it would make the Perk more attractive and leads to more variety, who not.

  • Not really a way to know if this can be bannable. USUALLY exploits are only bannable when the Devs acknowledge them and write a message ingame that it is bannable. And so far, if I am not mistaken, this only applied to the Bug where Legions Mending-Add Ons were bugged to stack so that it will result in huge mending times because it increased with every Frenzy-Hit.

However, most of the time exploits are related to Perks or Add Ons being bugged and the Devs give the benefit of the doubt. Nobody was banned for Nurse being ridicously fast with certain Add Ons, or when using bugged Bamboozle, bugged Merciless Storm, bugged Wake Up... Even tho many players were exploiting those Bugs and knew exactly what they were doing.

Furthermore, there is a difference between someone trying out the recent Glitch for one time and people doing it frequently.

  • Not really a fan. I used to run it when it got the latest Buff, but IMO only the Aura-Blocking and the silent grunts are really useful and I dont really use a Perk Slot for this. The Endurance does nothing, because every Anti-Tunnel-Method resolves around Endurance. Which makes Off the Record bad for Anti-Tunnel.

Because while you say that the Killer will wait out the Base-Endurance, if they want to tunnel, they can just hit after the Unhook. This removes the Base Endurance, potential BT, potential OTR, potential Styptic/Syringe... With just one Hit.

I would wish for changes that M1-Killers could catch up a bit to fast pace killers, so 3% Haste gone and Endurance down to 5sec.

But - out of a reason I dont understand - M1-Killers and Fast Pace Killers drift away more and more.

"I would wish for changes that M1-Killers could catch up a bit to fast pace killers, so 3% Haste gone and Endurance down to 5sec."

Why would anyone play this Perk?

The goal should be to have a strong Perk which is not too strong. Not another useless Perk.

  • Several things:

    1. Yes, it is possible that you will never be good. And this is ok as long as you dont blame everything else on your losses. It is completely fine to not be good at a game. In another game I have 11 years of playtime (with breaks) and lots of games, but I am still below average or average at best.
    2. Which brings me to my next point - 250 hours on Survivor is not much. Even 650 hours combined is not much. DBD is a game which needs some time. Maybe you think 250 hours is a lot, but it really is not in DBD
    3. Really important point - only while spinning the Killer does not work does not mean that you are bad. 360s usually dont work against Killers who are at least decent. And even if you see videos where people do constantly do 360s... Well, they probably show you the two out of 50 games where it actually worked on Killers. 360s are not really a strong thing to do and should only be a last resort IMO.
