I've witnessed too many missmatches in my lobbies and those of the streamers I watch. A part of it is from lobby dodging from either role.

I think MMR should exist, but it needs to be based on chase time (and different chase time for different killers). Nurse can injure fast, while Trapper can't. I feel like nothing singular in DBD (e.g. doing gens, healing, unhooking, kicking gens, hooking) expresses as much skill as the time spent in chase. The longer the chase, the more MMR the survivor being chased should get, and less MMR the killer chasing should get. And vice-versa.

Basing MMR on survival/kills (whether it's individual or group-based) has been flawed since the beginning, in my opinion. You can survive just by hiding all game and bringing perks that let you open the exit gate super fast. You can get free kills by bringing NOED or the tombstone addon on Myers. Neither of these express a skill, really.

Basing it on Chasetime is also not really great.

When I play one game as Survivor on The Game and one game as Survivor on Haddonfield, my chasetime will be drastically different.

And if you have some Meg in your game who uses every Pallet and gets to a long chasetime, but then creates a giant Deadzone, this does not mean that the Meg was the best player.

Yeah idk, most of the new maps and tiles they're adding suck complete ass to loop as survivor.

It just feels like Bhvr is prioritizing aesthetic and looks over map balance

I dont think they even are about aesthetic when it comes to map reworks. Because even when it comes to their looks, the maps are a direct downgrade.

E.g. Haddonfield is not only really bad gameplay-wise nowadays, but it also looks subpar to the version after the Realm Beyond-Update.

And all the reworked maps where they just move stuff around also look bad. Which is quite clear, since they obviously do not put as much time, effort and thought into them compared to the time they created them.

E.g. all second versions of the MacMillan-Maps are gameplay-wise worse and also worse when it comes to aesthetics. And this is the one realm which would not even have needed new versions of the maps.

And if I look at Maps where they added new variations, e.g. Ormond or Yamaoka, you clearly see how they are worse in all aspects. And IMO it comes around as lazy if they just move around some tiles. I think Realms like Ormond and Yamaoka would have had plenty of room for actual new maps with new landmarks, yet they go the easy way and just move some tiles around, which lowers the overall quality of the maps.

  • Puh. I dont know, I would not be excited for such a Chapter.

We have an original Killer who is basically an Onryo with Spirit AND we have Sadako who is even called "The Onryo". And Sadako already was one of the least hype chapters, even tho this was mostly due to the fact that it is the Japanese Original and not the US version and that it was announced so early.

I dont think that a third Onryo-like Killer would really be exciting.

  • I would rather prefer that the Survivor on the ground can just have a suicide option or instant bleed-out at this point when there is really no way that they can get up anymore.

  • How about a bit of context?

That Cheaters exist does not mean that BHVR allows them. But in every Onlinegame you will encounter Cheaters and they will be banned. This is nothing DBD-related.

The question was refering to the FEELING of each after a loss.

Sorry, I cannot relate to that. :( And I wont be playing anymore 2v8.

  • I have yet to lose in 2v8, so yeah, it is less stressful.

  • @I_mean_yeah said:

I don't think this game can handle 2 sepparate queues, when I saw that they're gonna extend 2v8 i got so pissed. Killer queue times are horrendous

Exactly. I was also very unhappy about that.

I have 3 Killer Dailies, all double BPs, but there is no point in doing them because the BPs will not make up for the time I sit in the queue.

Or maybe, just maybe, it's actually fun because it's a new thing and not the same repeat people see in 1v4?

And once the novelty wears off, nobody will play it. Great.

  • @LordGlint said:

Things like slugging should really only be brought up when it has anything to do with the topic... This update has 0 to do with survivor or killer behavior.

As for queue times... 2v8 is VERY popular. It's a real suffer from success situation. You have alot of ppl queueing to play killer because having a killer teammate which is a new experience. The gamemode is also basically the "casual" mode ppl have been wanting since there's no need to remember 100 different perks.

Map bugs are a pain... I know there's some invisible collision spots. Hopefully they can iron those out. All in all though, if you aren't having fun... take a break and play something else for awhile. I did that during the gen bug we had awhile ago.

You mean, the gamemode is easy mode for Killer. This is why it is popular. I have yet to play a game where I did not get at least a 7K with a random Killer teammate.

Yes, having the game be unplayable for 1-2 weeks each month while everyone of every skill level is sweating to rank up was so much fun.

Ah yes, and now it is way better, you are right. Having really skilled players and almost babys in the same queue is way better. Sure.

And having to play against a Killer who has 10 hours because an appropiate Killer chickened out when they saw that one Survivor had more than 50 hours is also completely peak Matchmaking.

Calling the game unplayable during Rank Reset time is so stupid, it is not even funny anymore.

  • @TheArbiter said:

Call me crazy but I'd rather go back to grade based matchmaking

    Same here.

Rank-based Matchmaking with a big Rank Reset was peak DBD for me. When you got set back to Rank 11 or so after being at Rank 1, you had good games for like 3 weeks. People who were really good ranked up fast and played against others who ranked up fast and people who ranked up slow, played against people who also ranked up slow.

Only the last week before Rank Reset the Matchmaking was not that good because players who struggled reaching Red Ranks ended up in Red Ranks and so the games were less quality.

The problems arised when they decided to make the Rank Reset more lenient so that you can only get set back one color. This meant that those people who needed time to rank up were in Red Ranks basically immediatly, lowering the overall quality of games.

And BHVRs reasoning for that back then was strange. They said that they dont want people who dont play as much to miss out on things (reaching Rank 1 in this case). Which is such a nonsense explanation, since it is normal and SHOULD be normal that players who play more also get more. And they invalidated their own reasoning with the introduction of MMR and Grades, where only players who play a lot will reach Grade 1 and the most BPs.

Returning to Rank-based Matchmaking with a huge Rank Reset would be a blessing. DBD has always been less fun with MMR, especially because their way of getting or losing MMR is the worst way possible and the low soft cap of their MMR-System, which basically makes it feel like there is no MMR at all.

  • Not surprising. IMO the matches have become rare where you do not play against some ultra-sweaty Killer who thinks they are in the finals of a big tournament or where you do not play with teammates who suffer from Genphobia.

  • Have you tried winning the game to prevent it from activating? Works just fine for me.

  • I also have to say, Unknown is neither the weakest Killer nor the most unfun/worst to play Killer. The teleport alone bumps them at least to B-Tier.

Not saying that Unknown is one of the easiest Killers in the game, but I also dont think that they are really hard to play. And while certainly not S-Tier, they are far from being weak overall.

That other Killers are stronger might be true, but with that we can almost talk down any Killer in the game, if we just go "Yeah, but Nurse, Billy and Blight are stronger".

  • Yeah, nobody should care about that guy.

  • Yup, it is bad. Sucks the fun out of trying out Cosmetic-Options and therefore will lower my desire to buy new Cosmetics. If they decide to make it as tedious as possible to equip Cosmetics, I will do it less and therefore also purchase less.

Especially the Charm-Selection is horrible. I did not even equip any Charms on Lara, simply because I did not want to deal with that menu.

I have no idea how the person who designed it came to the conclusion that it is good and why the person supervising them did not stop it.

  • Would say the same, the gamemode will never be permanent and IMO I dont think they should invest more time in it.

Sure, it is fun to play as Killer, but this does not really help if you need to wait ages to get into a game. And I think that the wait times will utlimately suck out the fun when the novelty of the mode wears off.

Survivors only really played it for the 400% BP-incentive. Because, lets face it, the Mode does not really add ANYTHING for Survivor but even removes things. Gameplay for Survivor already heavily revolves around doing Generators and 2v8 is no Exception, except that you need to repair 8 instead of 5. But other things are removed, the caging removes Killer/Survivor-interactions because you cannot go for any Flashlight- or Pallet-Saves and Bodyblocking is also not really a thing. Obviously this is intentional, because it would be way harder to get to hooks if there are more people who can save or bodyblock, but removing fun parts of the Survivor-gameplay will not lead to more Survivors playing the mode, quite the opposite.

Furthermore, what I already said months ago - as long as you are not in a BIG SWF, the gamemode is horrible. I only play in a 2 man SWF and having to see 6 people doing anything but Gens is more frustrating than seeing 2 people being useless. And in one game I even died after my first down, because apparently 7 people were not able to get me out of the cage.

Not talking about getting double-teamed at a Loop also does not feel good at all.

One big thing is also that going against Huntress all the time gets stale after a while. And I dont really see any improvement here, even if they add new Killers. Because, lets face it… Once Wesker is in this mode, you will play against at least one Wesker. I would guess the majority of games would just be Wesker/Blight or Wesker/Nurse. Does not really sound fun.

Overall I think they have to make the mode more fun for Survivor, otherwise they dont need to bring it back. And I am talking about making it actually fun and not just putting a big incentive on it, because this does not work and only results in queue times for Killers being long in both modes (because 400% were not enough to make the queues for Killer fast in 2v8, but was enough to make them also long in 1v4).

And when the mode is more interesting for Survivor, Killers can have better queue times. Because I think in the longterm, as much fun as this mode can be for Killer, if there is a lack of Survivors and you get regular queue times of 10 minutes (or even more, when the mode becomes less popular for Survivors), you will not play the mode as Killer either.

  • The most popular cheats grant you 600 of each Item. And even if Cheaters would be affected by the Item Limit (they are probably banned before they used up Items or Offerings), they can just cheat them back again.

Yep, Ash Williams was released without a PTB.

  • PTBs are only there for the hype, nothing more. The Devs only have a few days to implement any changes from the PTB to Live and I would guess that most changes are in the pipeline already (e.g. during the Blight-PTB the PTB featured an outdated version of Blight, so there was not really a point in testing it anyway).

I'm not very tech savvy so I may be missing something, but according to my pc specifications my GPU just shows up as "AMD Radeon r7". Sorry for not being able to add much to this.

The same message shows up when trying to run it with DX12, hence why I tried to force the game to run DX11 since the message says to either install the latest version of the drivers or switch to a different rendering API. As you can see however, all it did was to change "DX12" to "DX11" in the message.

I'll give this a try! I did try to update the drivers manually, but I haven't tried using DDU. Tysm for your help and patience everyone 🙏

You can press the windows-key (next to CTRL) and R at the same time. Then you can type in "dxdiag" which should show under "Display" (or whatever language your OS is using) which GPU is used.

You can get DDU from here:

    https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-DDU-

You can get the latest AMD Drivers here:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

Personally, I would do it in the following:

Find out which GPU you are using. Download DDU and the latest Driver. Start DDU and follow the instructions (you dont need to be in safe mode (if this is how it is called in English)). When your PC restarts, cut off your internet connection during that time, because otherwise your PC might install some driver it can find on the internet.

Now without Internet connection, just install the AMD Driver.

You should be fine afterwards and on the newest Driver. Maybe this helps.

  • @crogers271 said:

In addition to Aven's question, you could try installing the minimum required instead of doing the auto updater.

But DbD had to update to a more recent version of the unreal engine. It requires directx 11 which it looks like a radeon r7 should be able to run, but not sure on your version.

    I would say the same.

The thing is, I have looked into drivers for a few R7-cards and it looks like the driver OP has is not even the most recent one for the R7.

Therefore, I would suggest removing the current driver (a Tool like DDU should do just fine with that) and install the latest driver from the AMD website. Adrenaline 20 is indeed not the most recent one I have seen, it should be Adrenaline 22 something.

I quess survivors enjoy being tunneled/camped/slugged in 1vs4 at 5 gens. 2vs8 could have more variety but every other way it's superior mode. Escaped today 10/14 games and 2 of those died in endgame in soloQ. Tried 1vs4 and was tunneled and them camped out. Both matches had 400-600% bonus not enough to keep me playing though.

Queque times were great last few days on killer. But yes give me 1000% bonus I gladly take that I need to P100 my favourite characters 😃. My only complain on 2vs8 for now it's too easy and just every game I expect to escape best time to play survivor though. M

I dont see any difference gameplay-wise in 2v8 or 1v4, you get tunneled in both modes.

I would also not say that the queue times were great as Killer, I waited 10 minutes to get into a 2v8 game. Would not really call that "great".

  • @Bearded_Nea said:

It's flawed because survivors will just play 1v4 if they want far and away more BP. It would only be comparable it the maximum amount of BP achievable for both modes is the same and it is not because of BP offerings in 1v4 and their absence in 2v8.

    Not really.

The thing is, the 400% were pretty bad. Because 400% was still not enough to bring enough Survivors to play the 2v8-mode, but it was enough to pull them away from 1v4 so that queue times for both modes were bad.

Therefore, currently it looks like Survivors need a massive amount of BPs (I would guess at least 1000% Bonus) to play in the 2v8-mode to make queue times for Killer good enough. But this would kill 1v4.

In general, I feel like the best thing would be to not bring back 2v8. Because it divides the playerbase too much and IMO it is not really worth it to have long Killer queues in both modes.

(I also dont really see that the gamemode has longevity for Survivors. It becomes boring pretty quickly. And more Killers available would not change it, since those which are popular in 1v4 will also be popular in 2v8… And nobody wants to go against Wesker every game in 2v8)

doubtful with how popular the springtrap concept and vote was. Even enough to get a response from Scott years ago when he wasn't going for collabs. We will see.

Yeah, it is doubtful. But it would be funny.

  • I would be very happy if it is just a skinpack.

  • This is not how Pentimento works.

Pentimento adds another Hex-Totem and this Pentimento-Totem counts towards the numbers of Pentimento-Totems on the Map and the effect is based on this number.

So if they cleanse your Ruin and you replace it with a Pentimento-Totem, you will have the effect of Pentimento active (30% reduced Repair Speed), but Ruin is gone.

  • If you dont get the challenge, but are sure that you downed the two Survivors with Main Event, you should open a Bug Report.

Old(er) Tome Challenges sometimes get bugged.

Ah ok. "Big announcement" might be an overstatement in my book, but ok.

  • @HaunterofShadows said:

10 year anniversary, fnaf being one of the most requested chapters ever. Maybe a mix of both. Might just be a trend of them showing things early like they did with Castlevania.

9 years. DBD released in 2016.

  • They probably dont want the FNAF-Fans to spam that whenever a new Chapter is about to release that the Killer is Springtrap due to some obscure clues. So they just bring it over it so that they dont have to deal with it for another year of releases.

  • Now those FNAF-Fans will be insufferable. I can already see them asking for a second Chapter for this "iconic" Franchise.

  • I doubt it. I think that she is that tall and has the male model and movement is simply due to technical reasons. They wanted to have two characters, but did decide against a Legacy Skin and against a second Survivor, so they instead just solved it via Cosmetics. And this left her with the male model and animations.

I think this is also the reason why she is an Elf (and the guy is not), simply because it would look more weird if she was just a regular human.

  • @IIITweedleIII said:

Funnily enough, most believe getting Hatch is a win, which it's not. They failed their main objective. To finish generators and power the gates to then escape.

While it's fine to me the last survivor gets Hatch. To Me, it should be the lowest BP ever (if not nonexistent BP achieved) ((but I don't much pay attention to how much a Hatch Escape actually gets earned anyways))

It's just funny how some get so cocky they escaped through Hatch as if it's a win.

All that said. In agreement, Hook Suicides also should negatively minus their BP. If the Entity wasn't given enough pleasures to slowly kill them on hook. She should eat at their BP for effortly wasting attempts of 4%ing.

Hatch Escape grants 2500 Objective-BPs (on top of the BPs gained for escaping in the Survival-Category). I dont really think it is significant at all. I dont think that most Survivors gain the full 2500 BPs when escaping, since they will most likely have Objective BPs maxed out or are close to them being maxed out.

To the rest of your post - you can revert the argument easily. Killers seem to think that a Hatch escape is a Loss. At least you get this impression when reading the Forums. But a 3K + Hatch Escape is usually a Win for the Killer, yet some Killers seem to see it as a lost, even if only one Survivor can escape.

When it comes to less BPs for Hook Suicides - nah. You would punish the wrong people with that. Someone who wants to get out of the game ASAP will not care about BPs (because otherwise they would play the game). And I dont see anything wrong with a Survivor suiciding near the end of the game to give Hatch. If it is their first Hook, they would otherwise have to wait 2 minutes (or 140 seconds after the next Patch) to get into the next game, while most likely not being saved anyway.

So why should Survivors at this point have to waste everyones time (including their own) to not lose BPs?

  • Not bannable, but pretty cringe. And a Killer who does that has no right to complain about teabagging.

  • The thing is, even if it is an 18+ game does not mean that people might not get hurt by things which get said in the EGC. Things like slurs (F-word, N-word) or simply that someone shoudl end themselves can be really dangerous (especially the last thing can be a trigger if said person is already not in a good spot mentally).

That the game is for adults does not mean that people dont get hurt or that we dont have some really awful people in the community.

However, I would say the Chatfilter should be optional. It should be activated by default, but there should be an option to disable it. Because it is indeed not a really good filter and it filters things which are completely fine. So at least for people who can take the slurs and bad words, they should have an option to disable it.

Because put simply, why wouldn't they nerf Hillbilly? He's the second strongest Killer in the game and while he's arguably one of the hardest to learn, if people can climb that skill ladder and reach the top he becomes an insanely difficult Killer to play against. Combining overdrive and engravings make him nigh impossible to react to, and given how unlike any other Killer he has no cool down on his power, why wouldn't they nerf him? It's more than possible for BHVR to feel as though they overturned his kit and dial it back down.

I didn't ask the question in this post but I was going to make one asking the question if BHVR wants any S tier Killers, and if being in S Tier warrants a nerf.

There have been plenty of examples of BHVR messing up strong Killers. I don't agree with your assessment on Chucky. He might still be a decent Killer, but in terms of any depth he has little to none. He's had all his techs and anything he can do besides just dashing neutered making him a fairly boring Killer to play. I didn't like Scamper, but there were better ways of changing it rather than taking it out.

With Blight they completely murdered most of his addons and removed the one tech that made him an S Tier Killer, the hug tech. Without the hug tech it becomes very easy for good players to gimp him and force him into cooldown, making him play like a normal M1 killer for most pallet loops. And like I said, apart from the OP iridescent combo they created most of Blights addons got butchered. No one talks about it but without speed addons, Blight is just not good enough to compete at very high levels because he's too slow. That's the one thing Hillbilly has that Blight now lacks, and that's speed. With speed you can just barely reach around loops and hit a survivor, or you can create situations where the survivor cannot react fast enough to whatever you're doing.

It will without a doubt be a Nerf.

BUT - you make it sound like they will kill him. Which I highly doubt. And there are certain aspects on Billy which 100% deserve to be nerfed, e.g. in my opinion he generates Overdrive way too quickly (plus it is something he gains when messing up as well). So I think putting a Cooldown on the Overdrive generation once he is out of Overdrive is more than fair.

Increasing his Terror Radius would be another thing. In Overdrive you will have roughly 1 second from the moment you first hear the Terror Radius when he arrives. This is a bit less to be honest and considering that Wesker has a 40m Terror Radius, IMO Billy gaining one as well should be fine.

I also think Lopro-Chains can be nerfed. (I personally dont care for them, they can nerf them or not, I dont have a problem with them nor do I use them)

And even if all of the 3 things mentioned will happen, this will not come close to gutting him.

So MAYBE before opening some overdramatic threads to activate the echo chamber of this forum, wait a bit until they actually announce the changes or - even better - until you tested it, before being overly negative?

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773244#Comment_3773244

i mean i think some of it comes from remembering the devs made overheat in the first place. So theres a fear of dropping him to a point he becomes boring to play again. And the usual of "hey we are nerfing these parts" but what about his 10 addons that do absolutely nothing? And how sometimes they go just half way on how they do these tweaks? Will they improve the 10 addons that suck or just nerf him and thats it? Ya know. Stuff like that. Like he has a purple i think that improves the time before his chainsaw dissipates heat by like 5 seconds? Oh no….*taps the saw for 1 second* addon achived. We had a good example of this with Knight where all they did was really improve what made him boring to face against (People still go next though anyway) but now the knight player isnt having fun either.

Still, it is just dumb. This is not even one of those cases where someone has read the changes and thinks that a Killer is gutted opens a Thread. This is someone just looking on the Roadmap and ASSUMING that Billy will end up a few Tiers lower. And I personally wish that Threads like this would be closed, they have nothing to do with a discussion. This is just being overly negative and nothing more.

I also dont see a point in bringing up Overheat, which happened YEARS ago.

Nothing is overdramatic because basically every "tweak" on higher tier killer has been catastrophic for pretty much all the time. the probability is over 90%

It is overdramatic. Furthermore, when has a Tweak to a strong Killer be catastrophic? The most recent example is Chucky, who is fine as ever, if you were somewhat decent with him in the first place and not only relied on cheap Scamper Hits. Same for Blight and Wesker, I dont really see any drop in their popularity, despite both receiving Nerfs.

And dont let me start about Nurse, who only received slaps on the wrist all the time and is still busted and a pure design failure.

You do realize that with the first change based on the way the perk works is that it just wouldn't function on its own almost at all right?

The perk causes a survivor to drop their item when it loses all charges, so now the effect of the perk by itself is

Survivors drop their items when they become depleted for the first time, if they pick the item up they get oblivious, if there is an item on the ground with charges survivors have their aura revealed within 12m of the item, aka a nothing burger of a perk

Second one is fair enough though how can you expect to find a key in grass your teammate dropped when you weren't looking

I even said they can buff it to compensate.

Some idea would be to add a flat amount of Aura Read which is given when the Item is hitting the ground (like 10 seconds or so). This would still even keep the synergy with Franklins, if the Survivor decides to pick up their depleted Item (even tho I would think that this is rather niche and the Buff itself would be that it provides at least 10 seconds of Aura Read just on its own when the Item is depleted and dropped).

  • Not many Survivors want to play the 2v8-mode. However, it has 400% incentive and while this incentive is not enough to make queues for Killers faster in this mode, it is enough to pull some Survivors from the 1v4-mode so that the queues for Killers are also long there.

  • IMO there are two ways to nerf Weave Attunement and still keep it decent:

    • Let it only show the Aura while the Item has charges.
    • Or - no Aura is shown when the Survivor is crouching and they get information where the Item is.

Number 1 would weaken the synergy with Franklins. Which would be fine IMO. They could buff it to compensate for it.

Number 2 would provide meaningful counterplay and, even more important, gives a way to actually locate the Item. Knowing that Weave Attunement is in play is nice, but you will have to perform some form of triangulation to actually find it.

The main problem is anyway that the counterplay is pretty bad, since it still gives huge value to the Killer (Aura Read two times, Oblivious and a big time sink) and that Survivors who want to perform the counterplay might not be able to do so, since they dont know where the Item is.

  • I would expect a slight cooldown for Overdrive. IMO he gets it way too frequently and after all, it is also something which he gets when messing up a lot.

I think not gaining anything on the Overdrive-meter after fresh out of Overdrive for a few seconds should already do the trick.

Also I think increasing his Terror Radius to 40 would be warranted.

300% How? When a killer kick the gen, it's normally 10%
in this mod, it got a +200%

    So technically, it's just 210%, not 300% … Or I miss something?

Normal Regression-Speed is 100%. It adds 200%, so 300% in total.

(Which is overall 3/4 of the progression speed.)

And people are already complaining about meme perks

they deserve all the DH, SB, Lithe, BL, MFT, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, Resilience etc in their matches

People who claim they want variety and then complain when bad Perks get Buffs are just hypocrites. Those are the people that complain about "every game" facing the same 4 Perks, but they also dont want other Perks to be good.
