  • Instead of this idea, I really want each character to have a BASE perk that's considered a "power" for each survivor. For example: Meg has sprint burst without taking up a perk slot. Sprint Burst is no longer a perk. Feng Min has Lithe, and Lithe is no longer a perk, etc. PERHAPS making it so that the upgraded tiers of these "powers" are unlocked by prestiging. This would cause people to pick multiple characters, because if you want Balanced Landing, you need to be playing Nea, if you want Sprint Burst, Meg, Lithe, Feng Min, Decisive, Laurie, etc. But at the same time they wouldn't be so crutch because you'd have an extra perk slot for something else, you couldn't use multiple crutch perks(except Adrenaline with Decisive or something), and each character would have a viable "power" to help them out for different things. Sure, Laurie, Nea, Feng, Meg, and David might be the most played, but that's still quite a bit of diversity. In addition, this would make other perks more viable because there are less super powerful perks. Claudette should have Botany Knowledge instead of Self-Care though because Self-Care doesn't really seem like Claudette's archetype at heart. She's more about healing others imo.

  • "Freddy's pallet addons now create real pallets instead of fake ones." Lol jk, I don't really think they'll nerf Freddy overly if they do at all. I do think it's possible his non-directional lullaby is a bit strong though in a chase. Mainly in jungle gyms because you never know where he's coming from so you can run right into him. He already is able to cut off loops with his power. I've had survivors run right into me in jungle gyms a decent bit, and had it happen to me as well.

  • @darktrix I play survivor plenty and I never blame a killer for what you people call "tunneling". I blame the ######### survivor who unhooked me right in front of the killer's eyes. That bastard needs to learn to play. "Tunneling" is not a subset of camping. "Tunneling" is that greedy ass survivor who unhooks you right in front of the killer's face, runs off, leaves you to die, and then blames the killer for "tunneling" because he did an unsafe unhook(which is still considered a safe unhook as long as you don't get downed in a few seconds because why have logic?). If a killer is CAMPING, then he's the problem, but if some survivor who wants his friggin altruism points comes up to me and unhooks me in front of the killer's face(which is what ALWAYS happens when the killer "tunnels"), it's the survivor's misplay that caused my ass to go down a second time. I'm still waiting on a way to deny survivors from unhooking me, or at least a loss of emblems/bloodpoints if unhooked right in front of the killer's face without borrowed time so that people actually learn when to unhook and when not to. Playing solo is EXACTLY why "tunneling" exists. Because those ######### ass "teammates" decide to unhook you right in front of the killer's face, which AGAIN, is a bad play without borrowed time. The survivor was the cause of your death if you're "tunneled", not the killer.

  • @Raven014 I've seen killers 4k with Trapper and Wraith both at rank 1. TrU3 has 2 recent videos of Wraith where he wins. If a survivor won, it's because they were more skilled than the killer.

  • Not sure if you realized but they nerfed all dark clothes a while back. You can see Claudette or any other survivor pretty easily regardless of what they're wearing now. This personally disappoints me because I feel like blending in should be possible. I saw Claudette's even when their clothes weren't bright. It was harder, but the stealth aspect was more fun for me as a killer and as a survivor. Now you can see anyone anywhere with little to no effort and it's kinda disappointing.

  • @Raven014 This argument to me is always so ridiculous. While I have no opinion on whether Nurse needs to be nerfed or not, having someone do well simply because they put in the time REGARDLESS of the other players is a terrible design. Imagine if this were ACTUALLY true? Survivors might as well just go sit in the center of the map, stand there until they get crows and let the nurse hook them. There'd be no point trying to fight her because she would win regardless of their skill. I'm glad people with this thought process don't determine the balance of the game. Think about it. What if Survivors could always escape as long as they were skilled enough, regardless of how skilled the killer(whatever killer it is) was? It'd be ridiculous right? Now apply this to Nurse or any other killer. If a killer simply won because they played them enough, regardless of how skilled the survivors were? How would this even feel like an accomplishment? You'd just go in with the mindset of "I'm always going to win" and it would kill the game. Gameplay needs to be balanced across both roles. If a survivor is good enough, they should be able to escape as long as they are more skilled than the killer. If the killer is more skilled than the survivors, they should win(obviously with a bit of randomness a more skilled survivor could die, or a killer could not win, but in general this is how the game is and should be balanced). No one should win "just because they played a character enough". That's the most idiotic argument I've ever heard.

  • Um...you used Dead Hard before he even hit you. He hit you at the END of your dead hard, so it did give invincibility frames, he just hit you when those frames ended.

  • I always thought the face thing was rather weird tbh. I didn't like it.

  • @Darktrix this killer didn't open it on purpose. He tried to pick me up but instead opened the exit gate because I was right under it, lol.

  • @ABannedCat No one has fun obliterating rank 20s, including the rank 20s. No one also has fun being stuck in a game WITH rank 20s at rank 16 when rank reset occurs. I'm sure there'd be enough people who stay in low ranks to keep the newcomers playing. I'd imagine newcomers still have plenty of people playing with them right before rank reset occurs.

  • @Rydog Say you're rank 13, and then you get to rank 12, if you can never go below rank 12 after that, but are really not green rank(Despite it only being one rank, eventually the disparity gets wider and wider between ranks so this could be important), you might be put in more games you're not up to the challenge for, but you can't go back below green so you're stuck there. Perhaps they could rework ranking to need more pips per rank at higher ranks(maybe 5 pips for green ranks, 6 for purple, and 7 for red), which would (hopefully)fix the issue on it's own due to having to lose more pips to go down. I don't think locking someone to a rank forever is really the way to go, as someone could just suddenly start being bad. I mean yeah, ranked decay if you haven't played for a while, but depending on how fast or slow that is, you may still be in a rank you're not suited for after not playing a while. No game LOCKS someone into a rank, and while DBD isn't like other games, I feel like rank locking is a bad way to go. Sure deranking shouldn't be encouraged, but it probably shouldn't be where you're constantly stuck in a loop of stressful games if you're not up to the task anymore.

  • @Rydog I dunno if I would agree with removing the ability to go down in ranks upon reaching green/purple/red ranks. Say you had some really lucky games and got to purple, but were really green ranked still skill-wise. This would kind of ruin that. I do think you should still be able to de-pip, but a game ending with little points for the killer in higher ranks should perhaps not count for rank for either the survivors or killer. Or implement some feature to detect depip attempts. Perhaps anything less than half of a black pip doesn't count for ranking purposes in green or higher ranks.

  • @Tzeentchling9 DS shouldn't say "Increases the chances of becoming the obsession" if it actually DECREASES the chances. That's a flat out lie. The point of obsession perks is that they're strong, but have the downside of becoming an obsession with a negative effect(usually knowing that you're running something obsession related, but also other things like Mettle of Man's aura reading). DS honestly kind of flips that on it's head with only upsides.

  • Yay, we get Borrowed Time and Unbreakable a little longer before we have to dump points into another survivor, which was the only good thing the PS4 had over the PC version.

  • I'd be fine with this on Small Game or Detective's Hunch. Not in base. The killer should also however be able to tell what lit hexes are what though. Having a Devour Hope icon over a lit totem for example would be super helpful so you'd know which totem you could AFFORD to lose in cases like this.

  • @Peanits could we get an explanation for this outside of "It's for people who haven't played in a while"? Because a ranked decay would fix that.

  • Survivors don't get back offerings either. And I suggested this for the survivor side to get back offerings(and not actually use them in case of BP offerings), and got harsh backlash from a killer main because I said killers at least get blood points for survivor DCs, as well as the trial is still ongoing so they have more points to get. For example, if survivors use a Bloody Party Streamers, they get 10k survival points and lose their BPS. This is a severe waste, because that bloody party streamers could have went up to 64k BP and I could get 10k bp even in a poor game usually. Whenever I use a BPS, usually the killer DCs immediately for some unknown reason and I lose them. As for Moris themselves, honestly moris are one of(or THE) the most broken things in the trial. This is why people will DC against them. All you have to do for a green is have one unhook. It's also a lot of BP for a mori ritual, but I agree with you about mori initiation and it counting for that instead of completion. One thing you could do is try Devour Hope or Rancor. Rancor pretty much guarantees you kill someone if you can get to your obsession before they exit the trial. They don't know you have Rancor until it activates, and they don't know you have Devour Hope until they find it and even then they don't know if it's Devour. Of course if you have multiple hex perks, neither do you, lol.

  • The thing is, this would be better than discord because they could actually add some controls to voice chat. If it was at least enforced(maybe with a voice slider so you could turn it off if you wanted), at least then you couldn't just use discord to avoid whatever penalties were attached to in game voice chat.

  • Remember Me + Furtive Chase. down and hook obsession, down and hook new obsession. You have 4 stacks of Remember Me in a much faster and easier time frame than if you just had Remember Me without focusing one person the entire game who probably can loop well. That's what I use it for. I find it an interesting use of Remember Me, and I use it with Ghost Face. I also think it confuses survivors in a way because they expect you to be a certain distance when your TR is gone, but you can lower that. My main use for it however is it's synergy with Remember Me. When I down and hook the next to last survivor, and close the hatch, they're not opening the gates.

  • @MyNamePete You do realize even with Thrill of the Hunt you usually get to them at the last possible second or two before they cleansed a totem, right? Every second matters. If they have enough time to complete the totem, they'll take a hit but get the totem. 0.8 seconds could give them that time. Also it'd be minimum 1.4 seconds(Totems take 14 seconds without Thrill). Also if you thought totems were only 8 second cleanses, why would you ever think a totem should have an increase cleanse speed?

  • @darktrix The only ones that can get there in time to reach the survivor before they're healed in my experience are teleporters. I run We'll Make It because I actually intend to be the one to do hook rescues. If another person is there with me, it goes even faster. If other survivors played like this we wouldn't have problems. I do however agree that that doesn't give license to make stupid saves. I'm just saying that if you have borrowed time, you still have the option if forced to.

  • Here's a solution to "tunneling". Survivors, if you don't have borrowed time, stop making the ridiculous mistake of unhooking right in front of the killer's terror radius. If no one has Borrowed Time, and the killer is camping, just do gens. When I'm being camped, I'd rather you do gens and get out so I can get to the next game and have fun rather than the camping killer get a 4k because you all messed up. I'd also not like to be immediately put back on the hook for your sorry ass mistakes. Stop unhooking in front of the killer and tunneling doesn't exist.

Any other example of "tunneling" is tunnel vision, and that's a separate beast because every survivor claims that tunneling is getting knocked down right after being unhooked. In that case, you don't get objective as much but you get much more boldness. Is it bad that the killer has tunnel vision because you brought a key? Maybe? Did you sort of entice it by bringing said key? Definitely. There's usually a reason for tunnel vision.

  • This would ruin slow killers. Like destroy them. Thrill of the Hunt is the only way to actually halfway assure that you get to the totem while they're cleansing it before they finish it off, and it doesn't slow down totem speed too much because you still have to book it to that totem the minute you get the notification. Giving survivors an option of 10% faster cleansing speed, on top of a totem whispers, on top of extra blood points while doing totems is ridiculous. If NOED is their complaint, they have small game and Detective's Hunch. Both do this job well. Even if they don't run either perk, they can run a rainbow map, or even a regular map with certain addons. There're enough ways to find and cleanse totems, survivors are just too lazy to do it. And while you say "good survivors wouldn't need this perk". It's EXTRA BLOOD POINTS, FASTER TOTEM CLEANSING SPEED, AND a totem whispers. If they know the general layout of totems, they'd find the totem instantly, cleanse it faster for more BP, and then go find a gen. From what I hear they're making dull totems 1k BP next patch. That should be enough incentive.

  • Personally, I would LIKE for it to be a buff to the move speed and a removal of the health state. Doesn't make sense thematically imo for the health state. It's not healing, it wakes you up. But doing that would basically just make it Hope. So we could do the opposite. Remove the move speed, keep the health state. It gives a reason to use Hope, and Adrenaline won't be as powerful as it is. I mean we can all agree Hope is pretty much useless because of Adrenaline as is. Or make Hope the health state and Adrenaline the move speed.

  • @Volfawutt Perhaps a reworking of what is red/purple/green/yellow/brown could solve this problem alone.

  • To be fair there is counterplay to instaheals. If you have Exposed status effect it's not like they can use their med kit in the dying state. I wouldn't rank an insta heal even close to the level of an Ebony Mori, it's practically a free win. That said, I don't feel like anyone should be able to just bring overpowered crap into a trial where you're graded based on your performance without the performance being graded based on how well you did against what you're facing, but instead how well you did regardless of what you're facing. You could be facing a rank 20 killer as a rank 1 survivor, and I don't think that matters, you'll gain a pip or double pip. OR you could be facing a rank 1 killer as a rank 1 survivor with an ebony mori, and then you instead most likely lose a pip. It's a little ridiculous that there's a ranking system for something so unbalanced, honestly.

  • Basically I think the game needs to account for everything brought into the trial and put a value on them. If the value of what the survivors bring into the trial equates to the value of what the killer brings into the trial, it should be about the same to pip. If what the killer brings is more valuable, it should be based on how well you did in the event that the killer has the deck stacked more against you. If the survivors have more value brought into the trial, it should be based on how well the killer did with the deck stacked against him.

  • @TheHourMan Agreed. Racial problems back then(and by back then I mean when he was treated how he was treated, not when the movie was made) were much different(and actually a major thing) than now, and it wasn't center stage. It played an important role and made you feel terrible about how he was treated, but he was actually treated terribly. I hope the movie will be decent, but remakes usually aren't. Look at what they did to Chucky and Freddy. Completely disregarded Chucky's entire story and Freddy was just bad. They should just stop ruining our favorite horror icons.

Anyways, any ideas where to place mirrors aside from generators, the basement, and killer shack?

  • @Jdsgames You realize whether it's based on distance or TR would be exactly the same for your situation with Wraith, right? You'd still be able to see stealth killers because they'd still be a set distance from you. I mean yeah, they'd be able to see you a bit less, but I don't think it'd do much difference as if you got in 32m you could still walk backwards. TrU3 does this quite well, although he's a higher tiered killer so he knows where survivors will be when, which I guess is why he can counter OoO so well when it pops up against him(despite me viewing his videos and only seeing it maybe 3 times out of 10 killer videos). I mean distance would be a fine change, not too problematic, since it wouldn't really destroy the perk. You'd still be able to see stealth killers within the range you generally should. Although making it a 32 meter distance would mess with interactions like Distressing. I suppose if the killer's terror radius is 0 they could set it to a 32m distance, but that'd mess with lower TR killers.

  • @TheHourMan

This is true, but I really like the idea of his appearance being in mirrors and him looking back at you. It doesn't necessarily have to be ONLY gens, but I think he'll NEED ones near gens to be viable being 105% speed, and like I said, at least one in the basement. While Freddy would be able to teleport to gens, iirc he has a decent cooldown on his and he doesn't know survivors are there. It's sort of like a secondary ability. This would be Candyman's main and only ability, so it'd have to be more specialized for him. Generators would just be one area he could view/teleport to, and it wouldn't be teleporting to the generator specifically, it would be mirrors that were at least a bit away from the generators. With 7 generators total(or is it 8? I think it's 7), that'd give him 3 other mirrors if he had a set 10. One being in the basement, so 2 others, probably one in the killer shack, and I can't think of another good place. Basically places where he would want to see/be.

Sadly I feel like the new Candyman will be extremely agenda driven rather than anything like the original from what I read on it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was "modernized" and Candyman recently killed in 2019 by cops.

  • I know! She's over there under that yellow car! You can see her outline crouching!

    Edit: Nevermind that's a bush.

  • @Kaelum The ranking system seems fine. Ranked Reset however is a problem. Instead of Ranked Reset, it should be changed to a ranked decay, based on individual survivors. If you don't play for a while, you go down in rankings. If you do, you can stay in your rank. Ranked Reset is terrible.

  • @Jdsgames I don't play Wraith, so I can't confirm or deny that it "destroys" Wraith, as there are ways to counter OoO(and I'm not a top tier killer), and again, you have information on that survivor as well. You see their aura even if you're right next to them just like they see yours. Either way though, there's no nerf you can give to it that wouldn't make it a useless perk, because currently, it gives the exact same information to both killer and survivor. Doing anything less to the survivor side would make it useless, doing anything to the more to the killer side would again, not warrant taking it.

  • @Jdsgames You ALSO see their aura from 72/64 to 0 meters if you have 0 terror radius. You realize this right? It grants the SAME bonuses to the killer as the survivor in EVERY situation. Btw as for Ruin, it does actually have a use if you can hit great skill checks. It prevents a bonus to progression even if you hit it. It's not like it's completely nullified by hitting great skill checks. Not saying what you said has no weight, but it's not completely useless even if you can hit great skill checks. Even if you have 0 terror radius, you can also look the complete opposite way to counter it and trick them.

@Financial_Stability This would be true, if TrU3Ta1ent didn't upload his youtube videos from his streams. You can't fake that.

  • @Jdsgames You can't. If you're running Object of Obsession, you can only see up to 72(If you're the obsession, otherwise 64 meters) meters with tier 3. Also if they're INSIDE the killer's terror radius, they can't see their aura. This means that in general(I'd say most killers have 32 m TR), they can see you within 32-40 meters with OoO, and that's outside of your terror radius.

  • @Financial_Stability And what would your nerf suggest? Nerfing it to where it won't work on stealth killers would just make it so that it's a 100% negative effect to the user of the perk, and there's no such perk like that for anyone, nor should there be. Also even watching rank 1 youtubers, you don't see OoO that much so I don't think it's become some meta.

  • The only thing I think needs to really be done is the survivor on the hook needs to gain extra BP if the killer is in the vicinity of the hook while there are no other survivors in the vicinity of it. It's unfair to be a team player by staying on the hook and then ending the game with a meager amount of points. You're wasting valuable time in getting points doing this, and you're still gonna depip.

  • @Decarcassor To be fair Third Seal is pretty powerful if used to hit all 4 survivors and then hooking someone. If it lasts, you can kill someone on first hook, or even multiple people. I generally bring multiple hex perks with Thrill of the Hunt to keep it active. This means I usually keep my Third Seal up, because they're only worried about Ruin until they get hit with it, and this keeps people from unhooking survivors. It can be useful when it stays. It, like other hex perks, are just bad because they can be destroyed too quickly. I do think that something needs to be done about in-chase blindness though because temporary blindness is all but pointless.

  • Ignore what I said, misread, please delete.

  • @TheHourMan Well his entire body is made of bees, even his skin isn't real, iirc. That's why I went with that idea. Although mimicking that kill would be possible as well.

For my idea, I'd say at least one around(and facing) every gen. Possibly some extras. Nothing like 30. Maybe 10 or so I guess? For addons he could have power recovery ones for traversing faster, different effects for his bees(though not blind, as I can't imagine being blinded while running from the killer would do much good, except for maybe windows of opportunity). Hindered would probably be best anyways due to him being slow so maybe not. I'd always have a mirror in the basement for sure though.

  • I personally think an easy way to give characters classes would be to make their most useful/thematic perks as a "power" for the survivor while removing them from the blood web or possibility to equip as perks.

    For example:

    Meg: Sprint Burst

    Dwight: Leader

Claudette: Botany Knowledge(Not self care because it wouldn't fit her role as a healer)

    Feng Min: Lithe

    Nea: Balanced Landing

    David: Dead Hard

Jake: Iron Will or Calm Spirit(or a 100% speed Sabotage to make him a sort of sabotage class)

Ace: Ace in the Hole, or a buffed Up the Ante

    Laurie: Decisive Strike

    Quentin: Wake Up or Vigil

Tapp: Detective's Hunch(with a buff: Whenever he's inside 10 meters of a generator, rather than completing a generator, he can see the auras of generators/chests/totems within a 16/32/48/64 meter range. Reason for the 16 at the start is every prestige level will increase these powers by a tier, to give a better reason for prestige. This isn't necessary but it'd be nice imo)

    Ash: Mettle of Man

    Jane: Head On or Solidarity

    Jeff: Breakdown or Distortion

    Adam: Deliverance or Autodidact

Kate: Boil Over or Dance With Me.

This could solve two things: One, people wouldn't always be using multiple crutch perks together(can't use Decisive + exhaustion perks for example), and two, it'd give us more use out of other perks since we'd have these in our base character. If this became too powerful, we could remove item add ons and just make the items slightly better overall to compensate(some add ons could become items though, like instaheals just to counter things like red killer add ons/offerings). I don't think it would, even though it'd essentially be giving a free perk to each character, due to the amount of perks that aren't that useful in comparison or used much at all.

  • @TheHourMan I specifically remember him killing people with bees. This video has at least 2 scenarios of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXYDjxYBMbM

As for your power, I just don't feel like it would be able to work that well. Sure if there were lots of mirrors placed over the map, it could work, but like you were saying, if they just look down they wouldn't get hit by him because the minute his terror radius popped up, it wouldn't be important anymore to look down.

As for my idea, I don't think he'd be even close to Nurse tier. 3 seconds is enough time for anyone with sprint burst to get far away from the killer, and considering he'd have to wait 3 seconds to get inside a mirror and 3 seconds to get out of the mirror, it'd be much worse than Nurse. He also couldn't cut off loops like Nurse. His power would specifically be just for finding survivors and getting them off gens mostly. He'd be able to hook someone probably, but all it'd need is a cooldown similar to GhostFace's current cooldown and he should be fine. As for being disorienting for the killer, I doubt it would be. They have a first person view already, so looking from inside of a mirror wouldn't be that disorienting either. The idea though isn't just to "look through the mirror". The idea is that he goes inside the mirror with his power, then uses it again to get out of the mirror he chooses. When inside the mirror he could use M1/R1 on PS4 to swap between mirrors. Think of it sort of like warp points. I do think you could keep the bees and hindered effect thing, but make it permanent and lower his move speed to 105% possibly, since he'd have the ability to move across the map. With that I think he could be a decent to really good killer, since he'd be able to pressure gens quite a bit. Survivors would be able to see which mirror he was looking through since he would appear inside it, unless using the ultra rare like I said.

  • They need to do away with ranked reset, and give ranked decay.

  • @TheHourMan I feel like he should be able to enter mirrors, swap povs from the mirrors, and exit out of them. However his image will appear from the mirror he's viewing. Give him a 2 or 3 second enter/exit animation when leaving a mirror, and I think his power would be alright. Ultra Rare addon could be his image appearing in all mirrors whenever he's entered one. Having survivors just completely not looking at mirrors would be too much counterplay. I understand the looking at the mirror for 5 seconds is supposed to represent them saying his name 5 times, but I don't think he'd be a very good killer this way. Mirror placement would have to be near generators, but balanced to where he couldn't just get free hits from it.

Mori needs to be him picking them up, and his hand turning into bees and flying into their mouth.

Oh and if this is to happen it needs to happen BEFORE the next terrible remake of a killer movie comes out. I don't want to see another terrible remake killer be forced into DBD, especially one like this.

  • @TheHourMan Hag's Mint Rag gives her a 15 second cooldown teleport to any trap though. 2 minutes by comparison is basically useless. No one would use that addon.

  • 2 minute cooldown on ultra rare seems extremely long. Several gens could be done in that time. Also that sounds like a little too much counterplay.

  • @NuclearBurrito that happens at any rank because of SWF's matchmaking, lol.

  • @Luigifan64 That's why ranked decay should exist instead. Rank reset just ruins everything.

  • I'm surprised someone would want a longer animation for an already not too strong killer.

  • Disagree. Borrowed Time being innate would just make something survivors are doing WRONG into something they're doing right. Survivors should fix themselves, not have the game fix their mistakes for them. Tunneling is only a thing because survivors without Borrowed Time unhook right in front of the killer's face whether he's camping or not. There are easy solutions to this. Don't unhook right in front of the killer's face, and bring Borrowed Time if you're going to unhook. Otherwise don't unhook and let someone else do it, or at LEAST bring We'll Make It, then wait for the killer to leave, unhook and heal to full health. You just saved your teammate without a misplay which led to neither of you getting hit afterward, Congratulations on playing correctly.
