Doctor by a long mile the best easiest killer to do dailies for, you just shock,so I imagine that’s why.
Fair point, that could also skew the statistics. Really just goes to show how many different things need to be accounted for in order to take Killrates at anything but face value.

I would not necessarily say harder, but more time consuming in any case.
You could def call it that too

They don't do 4 out streaks though, the win condition is always 3 out. Just because of exactly that situation.
I might be thinking of older streaks then, my bad. Still, A killer can end games at almost any point with the right pressure and circumstances, survivors aren't going anywhere without five generators or the DC button. I'd still say it's harder to get streaks with survs than killers.
Especially since, y'know, there's only one player on killer. A swf streak needs four survs who are presumably all gods at the game.

So... just to get this right. You think that nerfing Adrenaline is only justified, if 5 killer perks get nerfed at the same time?
Is this the current rate? 5 perks in exchange for 1?
Inflation man, they just don't make em like they used to😔

Considering that's what the devs want, with killers being at a 60% killrate, probably a fair assessment.
Really we need to be looking at the more nuanced parts of this game like Nurse, who we all know is extremely oppressive with her power but has a low killrate in the stats, and Skull Merchant where so many swear up and down she's a mid-tier killer but has a high killrate. (And the aforementioned Sadako getting so many kills because survivors refuse to do the counterplay, from my experience.)
I mean, do we really think Freddy is OP when he's sitting above most of the other killers in the stats too?
But to keep things on topic, I do think the escape/kill %'s are also kinda skewed in a nuanced way too. We know it ignores DCs but I bet it doesn't ignore survivors giving up on hooks, which I experience even on Trapper or as a survivor against Legion or Trickster or whoever the other survivors don't want to face. We also have to account that tunneling a survivor out to snowball the last 3 either works extremely well for the stats or gives survivors a 4-man escape if they flub it. Stats don't paint a whole picture.
Edit: We may also need to account for hackers in that sense, too. They could be inflating escape rates under our noses.
I think the hacker/cheater part definitely holds some water. Doctor having by far the lowest killrate could be because some people tend to use him to farm BP and shards without actually playing him. He's not the best killer, but there's no real reason he'd have the lowest stats by a big three percent unless something funny was going on.
Honestly, with how random DBD is, stats themselves should pretty much always be considered inconsistent.
For instance, how is a Trapper who 4ks a swf with 4bnp compared to a Blight 4king a bunch of Solo Qs? It's still a 4k, do the devs count them the same in the stats? How about MMR? There's simply too many variables to control in a match. 5 Offerings, Killer, Perks on both sides, maps, totem spawns, etc.

Any recent streaks after all the survivor nerfs?
Would you expect there to be in the kind of game DBD is?
To end a killer's streak, a team of survivors need repair five generators and outplay presumably one of the best players in the world, who's probably using the best killers in the game, and is currently sweating enough to make comic con smell nice.
To end a four man survivor streak, the killer needs to pick Bubba and get a down in endgame.
The difference between what's considered a valid survivor streak and valid killer streak are so different that trying to draw genuine balance information off of it is fool's folly. There's a reason why even when survs weren't nerfed that escape streaks weren't very common.
-
You're saying this like there haven't been survivor win streaks either, which are much harder to pull off typically cause it means denying the killer every single kill.
-
I'd rather they buff the move speed more. I'm fine with her having an indicator when she attacks, but the power is still far too slow down to effectively get the jump on people. A 32 meter TR pairs awfully with Ambush since often times survs can hear her turn it off and prepare for her arrival, y'know, like literally the exact thing a stealth power is supposed to stop from happening.
They could change her TR back to 28 meters, but there isn't a snowball's chance in hell they'd make a decision like that. I'd just settle for moving as fast as a survivor so you can actually get to them quickly to ambush.
-
I made a post about this a bit ago, but I think the biggest issue it that they're boring as perks. There isn't really much counterplay or interesting things that result from these perks, at least Old Ruin made you go out and find the totem. Now Corrupt activates and you kick up your feet until you get to play the game, then it deactivates and DMS and GE activate, so you kick up your feet until you get to play the game. Because of how these perks function, this happens four more times the match, and then you add a fourth slowdown (probably Pain Res) just to be silly goofy.
The killer never had to alter their play style to make use of these perks either, they just have to get downs and hooks in like the four minutes they got for free. It's lame tbh.
Sure, this might not be an issue on weaker killers, but when I pick Solo Q and see a Blight quadruple stacking these bad boys, well, I'm suddenly feeling a lot less confident in how I'll perform that match.
-
Did it get the stealthy found footage horror power of my dreams? No, but it is fun to play as and against while still being balanced. Best aesthetic out of any original killer on the roster period by far imo. It's really interesting to see the devs take on an analog horror killer. I do hope we get more scary powers in the future, but ig I'm fine sticking ToT on this guy and making it work.
No busted perks this time around, and Sable has a unique mechanic. The map is too big, but looks great and I like the new loops the devs are trying out.
W chapter. BHVR hasn't missed killer wise since SM imo
-
Defo take a break dude. You can't really force yourself to want to do something, especially not something like DBD. In a month or week or however long you'd hypothetically decide to take off, the game will still be here for you. Take a load off, in this day and age, you probably earned it lmao
-
Sounds like some really uncoordinated survivors tbh. With two perks of gen regression and three to four free gens, this honestly sounds like it's on them if they couldn't reach enough progress for you to get even close to the regression event limit.
-
I feel like out of all the licenses killers, Nemesis is the most 'just kinda there' character out of the whole lot. He really doesn't do anything that's all that interesting or blood pumping as a killer. I think he should do something like a slice and dice sort of dash to damage survivors. In the original RE3, Nemesis would bolt towards you at Mach 5 after stumbling upon you, that combined with his size made for some absolutely blood pumping encounters. I wish Nemesis came with that and mayyyybe a teensy little rocket launcher. Keep the zombies too cause why not and I think he'd be infinitely more faithful and menacing.
-
All the Agitation users and the last two Iron Grip enjoyers are probably chuckling under their breath.
The combo is a very strong effect, don't get me wrong, but that's also like literally everything the survivors bring. They each get one other perk. So almost no healing, gen progression, chase, info, endurance, anti-tunnel whatsoever. Honestly, sure, it might be annoying, but how many survivors need to be on deck to make sure the killer can't hook? Do they find time for gens with such a gimmicky play style? I feel like any killer who knows how to slug could effectively rail road this strat.
-
I feel like the last few killers have shown that the devs do know how make complex changes to the general coding to get what they want (coding Chucky to be a weapon for third person, PoV swapping for Singularity, tunnels being an actually map for Xeno, modes finally being possible, etc.). If they allocated their resources to the proper places, a lot of the games technical issues could probably be solved in engine. Maybe make minor reworks to the power coding so they can finally vary between cosmetics. It would also be cool if they increased Nemesis's zombie count per match, as I feel like the whole point of zombies is overwhelming numbers, but I digress.

Chucky and Singularity? To each their own I suppose. Those two are easily some of the more unique killers to face imo
-
I imagine all this talk of a mimicry killer being a rather poor tool against coms could be solved if the power was merely a secondary ability.
Think like Dredges kit. None of his abilities are necessarily strong without certain addon builds, but they're by no means useless.
And, let's be real, a killer that can immediately kill it's terror radius and change itself to catch a wayward survivor tripping is in no way useless.
Plus, as some who sometimes plays SWF, it actually sounds kinda fun having to keep track of where every player is to know if the person walking towards me in the distance is about to run my fade. It'd be a neat dynamic for a killer that statistically you'd only on see like 2 to maybe 5 percent of the time, and after Larry's saddening pick rate, that's being generous.
So I think it could work, provided this hypothetical killer get some other tools to even things out. Just throwing this out there, a Mandela Catalogue Paragraph with an Alternate killer? I know it's not most well known, but don't tell me it wouldn't be cool.

Man, let's just have fun for once, alright?

As you can see that’s what I’m doing here! Feel free to move on at your own convenience!
This isn't research. People are telling you to go look up actual educational resources made by people with degrees, don't pretend your sampling of the DBD Playerbase (most whom aren't agreeing with you) is evidence for your stance.
FOMO by all aspects is a marketing tactic meant to prey on people's fear of missing out (it's literally the name of the strategy). It's predatory by nature, and to pretend otherwise is being willfully ignorant. Plain and simple. If you want research, ask an economist.
-
Feels like these posts are everywhere, though since it's Tunneling I get it.The current fast paced nature of matches tend to mean that Killers need to move to fast to establish pressure, which if they're on the backfoot, usually means that Nea with two hooks is about meet the Entity again.
I wish there was a basekit reward all killers got by spreading hooks, it'd alleviate the issue somewhat.
Survivors not having a good catch-all anti tunnel perk is also one of the reasons the strat is so prevalent.
I do hope the devs put some system in place to make it more bearable, but this is also a problem that's been part of DBD since the beginning, so I don't consider it the end of the world by any means without changes.

Wouldn't be a big deal as PC players can use crosshairs anyway.

I'm not really a fan of those add-ons tbh. It shouldn't cost a slot just to add a quality of life aspect that could be there at base, y'know? DS has a skin that gives him a sight, so I think he's game at least.

While it is more difficult to use ranged killers on console, that doesn't mean high level play is impossible. The misconception here is that there is a cap to how good a console player can be which is below PC, but that's not the truth. Console players have as good as, and sometimes better aim than PC players.
The only real advantage that PC holds over Console is sensitivity which is way higher and allows for more quick and unpredictable hits/reaction.
In terms of a sight, that is something that can be remedied on one's own. There are certain monitors that come with sights that can be toggled on or off regardless of the game. Realistically however, the only real solution is to play, play and play until you get a feel for where exactly the hatchet, throwing knife or spear is going.
If we're referring to changes for console, monitors isn't really a solution for getting a sight, since most people on console use TV's. Still, this comment is very true in that there's no real substitution for skill!
-
For Survivor, I think Plot Twist is so consistently useful that it's become the best way to self heal, especially if you're bringing Unbreakable as well.
As Killer, Trail of Torment on characters without stealth can throw survivors off so bad they're already past the point of no return by the time they get a grip. People really underestimate the element of surprise. Maybe Unknown's new perk will become popular too. The scarier the game, the better : )
-
He should be more usable than most other ranged killers on console thanks to his simple lob and AOE, but how much definitely remains to be seen. Hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy his entrance into the fog at least a little bit, regardless of platforms.
-
I kind of like it as is, it gives the same vibe as Demo shredding through pallets. There's something electric about moving out of the way as they just barely miss you and annihilate the pallet next to you. That said, I don't see this addon very often, so it might be worth a shot!

“How dare these new gens complain about 4%?!! Let me list a bunch of things us OGs had to go through!! That’ll really show em!”
I'm saying that yelling over a mechanic that works in your favor 96% of the time in a game known for its horrendous balancing is silly. The sheer number of other issues in this game is staggering, and you're acting as if the 4% unhook is a pressing issue. It's really not in my eyes, and I'd say most people here are agreeing with that assessment.
You can make as many overtop jokes at my expense as you wish, it isn't selling your point.
-
Singularity is actually so unique and cool, I love facing and playing as him. Dredge too. Honestly, I'd like to see most of the lesser used cast show up more. It'd certainly make gameplay less monotonous.
-
Okay, I know I'm about to sound so stuck up right now, but really? In old DBD you'd get downed by a Billy revving his saw in a quarter of a second and then killed instantly cause he brought an ebony mori. As killer you'd lose 2 gens and then the entire team would escape because somebody brought a key. This game has had some of the most extremely onesided metas I've ever seen in a competitive environment, and now we're complaining about the 4% unhook?
Does anyone remember when Boil Over on RPD literally gave survivors an area on the map where they were guaranteed to escape from the Killer's shoulder, or when Ruin made gens nigh unrepairable until it was cleansed?
I mean, honestly, the 4% unhook is what's ruining your experience? Not BNP, not the vast multitude of exhaustion and second chance perks, the 4% chance that usually gets survivors killed when their forced into situations that make them desperate enough to try it? Really?
I'm sorry if I'm coming across as rude, but wow, this is a new one.

I'm 50/50 on Nic Cage, while his inclusion as himself is not out of left field considering him playing himself in movies as well as in horror movies, the precedent his inclusion sets is something i'm not a fan of.
Because of his inclusion, people now have a justification and excuse to try and bring in other real life people, outside of this thread having people who wants celebrities like Lady Gaga or Michael Jackson in dbd, i've already seen some trying to get people like James from Dead Meat or Otz as Survivors, so we constantly keep pushing the line.
How long before we start bringing in any popular content creator or vtubers for creator skins? or random celebrities that have nothing to do with horror or movies in general?
If we start broadening what should and shouldn't be added into the game outside of horror, DBD will just end up turning into Fortnite on a thematic level.
I see where this is coming from but at the same time DBD branching out has given us some of our cooler chapters. There was a time back in the day when SciFi and Video Game killers were hardly mentioned in speculation because there was nothing like that in the game (aside Bill, but he wasn't talked about much). There were even people back then that argued that including franchises like that would damage the heart of DBD's atmosphere.
Going further, the original conception of what a DBD killer could be was actually pretty limiting. Freddy still can't speak because he was designed at a time when killers weren't supposed to. I'm my opinion, the Devs pushing boundaries has only resulted in more creative killers and chapters. Before Demogorgon, a lot of people said an animalistic killer wouldn't make any sense with the deliberate nature of the trials and hooking survivors. If that mindset was still held, we wouldn't have killers like Dredge, Xeno, and now Unknown.
If all these ideas could change over the years without DBD losing it's focus on horror, I think we'll be fine for the future in that regard. Even the latest chapter put a bigger emphasis on horror in the marketing. So Pandora's Box may be opened, but it doesn't seem like anything is leaving it anytime soon, if that makes sense.

I'm trying to follow what you wrote. You use hex's as an example but they are 'hands free' as you put it from the killer side. I think the larger argument you're trying to make (if I'm understanding this correctly) is that Killers have gen regression perks with little counter play and survivors have 2nd chance perks with little counter play. Is that right?
Yeah that's what I mean. I use Hexes as an example despite being hands free because at least on the survivor side they add a new dynamic to the match.
As a survivor, when a hex is in the match, you need to go find and break it. When Pain Res, Corrupt, Grim Embrace, etc. activate, you say "that's tough"and find something else to do.
I'm not going to pretend DBD's older metas were great, but the current iteration of it feels much more samey and boring than before, y'know?
-
@Moz said:
"The current meta really just revolves around "how fast can I do x" and "how much time can I waste for the other side." It isn't all that interesting."
This has always been true. This isn't a meta, it's the core focus for both roles and has been true for every patch of the game since it's release.
I'm referring specifically to Gen Slowdown and Endurance Perks in this post. Sorry if the topic of discussion wasn't clear
-

I'd say the gen regression limit kinda does this already.
You don't want to bring too many regression event perks because you'll burn through them too quickly. So you need slowdown other than just regression.
Add to this the fact that gen blocking doesn't stack (besides a certain combo that triggers DMS of course), and we already have a self-limiting mechanic for nearly all slowdown perks.
It's more that out of the slowdown perks that do exist, the meta ones are the ones with the least hands-on requirements.
I see were this is coming from but you can stack Corrupt and Grim Embrace without interfering with each other due to their nature as perks, add Dead Man's and Pain Res and you've got the best slowdown perks in the game without wasting Gen Block time and are nowhere near the gen regression cap.
That's not even the only fully meta slowdown build that doesn't overlap regression/gen block, it's just the first that comes to mind.
-
People aren't after you cause they're ableist man, there's just ready a solution to your problem. Look away, take the headphones off, mute the TV, whatever, you don't have to see or hear anything you don't want to.
Dev time on QoL is so limited that updating lobby screens is projected to take years. If something is going to be added, even if it's small, it should at least be something that doesn't already have a solution, y'know?
-
Old killer's are being discounted in terms of Auric cells, so there shouldn't be a way you pay more for anything now than before. If you hadn't given up on Licenced Killers prior, don't give up here!
-
Well balanced, unique, iconic, what's not to love? I like vsing and playing as him. A Killer, even if I can't aim the chain to save my life.
-
I do think the aura change was necessary for the campers with scream perks that make vsing Pig extremely unfun. The timer nerf is unnecessary though, it needlessly weakens the base slowdown she's built around as a character. Headpops already weren't common, and thirty seconds is a big window.
They either need to tune Ambush up as a power way more to compensate, or roll back the timer change entirely. I wonder if BHVR will actually let this go live with the current feedback

@Xernoton said:
What I hope will happen: Skull Merchant gets a rework. From the ground up. Everything. Her name (it has nothing to do with her power and appearance whatsoever), her visual design (let's face it, she doesn't look menacing in the slightest and her mask is the least stealthy thing imaginable), her sound design (her chase music is terrible), her animations (no, women do not walk like that), her lore (such a convoluted mess) and her power all are awful. Stationary drones will never be a good design.
What I actually think will happen: Nothing. They reworked her twice already and she wasn't mentioned as a killer that would receive changes in the near future. Also, they already have a lot on their plate and I doubt they have any idea what to do with her at this point. She is simply a failure. Maybe she will receive some number changes and end up like Freddy.
I feel like if you want the name, aesthetics, music, power, lore, and animations tossed out and remade then you're kinda just asking for SM to be deleted and a new character take her place. Which to be fair I get it, but that doesn't really seem like the best result.
Regardless of how dirt it is to play against her, there are people who play as her, and I'd venture to say most of them paid for her. I get making changes/reworks when they change the killer into something healthier for the game, but this proposal sounds like it's pulling a bait and switch on my wallet.
No hate towards you btw, just want to make that clear
-
Fun for a while! I made a post about it, but if the mode had perks and add-ons I think it would be much more interesting, as there'd be a pretty big meta shakeup I imagine. Still, cool idea, I'm down with it showing up for a week every few months, maybe with a few tweaks to keep its reappearance fresh.
More importantly, more modifiers in the future please!
As for the actual question, I definitely learned how to better track survivors by sound, and that Ghost face is one of the most fun killers in the game with the reveal mechanic much harder to use for survs.
-
He is too reliant on Beast Marks imo, a light numbers buff wouldn't hurt.
-
I always choose how to act depending on how survivors do. Are they meming? Meme back. Sweating? Sweat harder. Being a nuisance on purpose? Make em dead by daylight.
As for preparing builds beforehand, I always try to bring something fun but useable. Some games get out of your hands, it happens. People don't need to be as mean as they are sometimes, but going into matches with a negative outlook usually leads to a negative result, y'know? Just try and have fun despite it all, that's all you really can do.
-
I think DS does need more time to stun killers, since it's supposed to be Anti-Tunnel and only happens once per match before turning off, I feel like it could at least do more than just getting yourself off the killers shoulder. As for OTR, it is kinda annoying when people run in out of nowhere with it to tank hits, but it's alright in my eyes. Only happens twice per survivor and isn't all that relevant if you aren't tunneling most of the time, with the conspicuous clause and all for endurance.
-
Crazy seeing A Tier Billy again. Pretty close I'd say, swap Freddy and Trapper cause Freddy gets stealth and tp imo. I'd put Chucky over Spirit, but that's just me. Other than that, Pinhead is A Tier cause I feel like most survivors aren't really good at box managing.
