Dissolution and Brutal Strength can eat resources like nobodies business. Especially if they get predropped.
-
He's probably more popular among newer players. I actually play him quite a lot when I'm just trying to destress because he's so simple.
I think it could also be because he's a hybrid stealth/chase killer. Those two playstyles don't tend to share a playerbase, so I get it.
-
-
Sounds like a nasty combo. Think I might try it when I get the chance
-
It fits his more bombastic nature as a character. RE5 was about as much an action game as it was a horror game after all. Put simply, Wesker isn't one for subtlety.

@Mandy said:
If a Gen is blocked it cannot be progressed or regressed - so yes, this is not a bug but by design of the perk.
It's a new mechanic that requires a survivor to spend two entire minutes not being useful in the most dangerous place on the map, and then they get permanent broken afterwards. I'm sorry, but there's no way that Grim Embrace or any of the basically free Gen Blocking Perks should override that from a game design standpoint.
-
Why exactly are we getting mad at the people being targeted and not the people targeting others? This is literally just a fancy form of victim blaming, is it not?

Obviously you can't work on a gen that been blocked.
I'm in the basement, I started the action two minutes ago, and the decay rate on Weaving Spiders is juiced.

This would be a nightmare if multiple people have the same cosmetic on.
-
Since this is an Oni only issue, I wonder if it'd be possible to Killswitch the perk only for him. That way he remains playable, and the perk is still usable on most killers.

I'm sorry I'm missing the point of this thread? Are we saying the cosmetics are transphobic or that the people are mixing them in such a way they think parodies trans people to then harass people with trans charms?
Because the former I disagree with that but the latter is unfortunate and anyone who sees this should report those people with evidence and get them out of here.
People are mixing Unknown's new cosmetics to construct recreations of harmful stereotypes of trans people to then bully those players when they find them in matches. I'm not sure when you joined DBD, but if you remember the Bface Bubba situation, it's like that again.
The cosmetics themselves aren't inherently transphobic or anything, it's just the way they're being used.

Hypothetically, if the license holders want to avoid controversy they’d pull the character from DBD entirely. Most especially since this would be the second time their character has been involved in a bigotry scandal.
If BHVR can’t handle issues of bullying in house I don’t see TCM letting another Bubba-used-as-a-tool-of-bigotry controversy fester. But as I’d mention earlier people could also use Charlotte and Huntress to harass transwomen.
Bullies could use any feminine character that doesn’t ’pass’ as a cis woman as a catalyst to harass transwomen. And even without those features they can still harass transwomen in other ways. I’m not on board with removing characters or skins because people abuse them. I mentioned earlier that people still harass players for queuing in as Black survivors. I would never support removing Black characters from the game because they’re more likely to be targets of racist cyberbullying. Would you?
This is discussing what could be and not what is. The Unknown cosmetics have been in the store for like 2 days max and are already the spotlight of such controversy, Huntress was here years ago.
No, there's nothing stopping losers from picking another skin/character to spew their hate, but that doesn't mean they will.
To be honest, I say BHVR should update its report system before making a decision. If they get all the transphobes, this whole issue should fade entirely and there's no need to remove anything. If that doesn't happen and the current skins become defined as "the skins people use to be transphobic" like Bface Bubba was for racism, I'd say axe em, but that's just my two cents.
-
Gen Blocking means I can't complete my objective, Gen Regression means my objective just got hit with a major setback. I'd take the Gen Blocking tbh.
-
That really sucks. Especially since this isn't really an issue that can be fixed, since it's just how the killer looks. Hopefully BHVR cracks down more on harassment, the reporting system feels like writing a report and feeding it into a wood chipper.
-
I agree with this for the most part. Anti-3gen and Anti-Facecamp killed two of of the games most unfun playstyles, although Proxy camping has become much more prevalent as a result.
Killer balancing is the best it's ever been imo, as most of the roster is at that "strong enough to be viable in capable hands, well designed enough to be countered" level. Whether or not all these killers are fun to face is a different storie, but the cast is the largest it's ever been and I've loved every new killer from Singularity onward to play as and against.
As well, I think a lot of their reworks have actually been right on the money, at least in regards to Billy and most of New Sadako (fight me grr).
-
I feel like this happens most of the time a new killer comes out with odd counterplay. Unknown excels against survivors who don't know maps, as he forces them to stare at him instead of looking ahead for loops. The matchmaking reset just means the new and veteran players are placed together, which gives any Unknown player presumably a few easy targets in every match.
Give it a day or two, it should iron itself out. Unless matchmaking is bugged, in which case that entire paragraph should be disregarded.
-
I think he could use a secondary ability so simple it just boils down to "Become Undetectable for 30 Secs at a time." It'd play into his shoddy relationship with the Entity from a thematic standpoint, whilst also giving him the gameplay benefit of hiding his traps easier.
That and more traps around the map would make him much easier to play. Maybe give him the effect other users were discussing to give him haste after a surv gets trapped. All of those and few changes to make Basement Trapper obsolete, and our boy might actually be alright in the end.
-
He has a stealth perk, his power hits through walls, more spots to bounce off of, and weakness is removed by staring at him. The only reason he isn't better on indoor maps is because most indoor maps are survivor sided lol
-
Lobby dodging sucks and I don't know why that's up for debate. The same way it sucks as a killer to load into a match and see players DC cause the survivors heard Skull Merchant's TR and decided they didn't want to play anymore. This is not behavior we should be encouraging, plain and simple.

Not really. From what I have seen, the areas without any interest for the Killer (aka no Gens) are on the outside of the Map. So the Map is actually smaller, if we consider that the Killer does not need to go to the outskirts of the map.
And if they follow a Survivor... Well, their fault to be honest. This is the same as a Killer who follows a Survivor to Gens blocked by Corrupt Intervention or completed Gens. It is up to them if they want to do that, and if they want to make a bad play, they can do that. But if a Survivor wants to lead someone to this area, it is best just to leave them.
The game starts, you find the first survivor and they immediately run into one of these zones. The right call there is to then leave chase, right? That isn't fun, interactive, or balanced compared to other maps without these corners spawning naturally. It's bad map design imo. Feel free to disagree, but I'm not sure how anybody finds that engaging.

I dont see much issue with the number of pallets, since they are mostly unsafe. Especially the double Pallets are a bit of a Joke.
And I ignore the size, since part of the map is not involved in gameplay, as you said. No Gens in some areas means no reason for the Killer to go there.
However, I only played one game on that map and it was against a Nurse who decided to 4 man slug... So I had enough for the evening already.
I agree with this for the most part, there's only one thing I feel the need to comment on.
"I ignore the size, since part of the map is not involved in gameplay. No gens in some areas mean no reason for the killer to go there."
Areas like this are bad for the game in my opinion because it kinda just leads to survivors booking it into one of these zones mid chase and waiting until the killer either throws the game or leaves. It's really unfun, and that part of the map is absolutely involved in gameplay if stuff like this happens.
Even assuming something like that doesn't happen, it's still ground to traverse. If a killer sees a gen about to be done in a place they aren't currently near, they're losing that gen. When the map is so massive, this is how most gens get done without the killer having much say in it. It's why massive maps as a whole are widely hated by killer players imo.
Obviously, if the Killer is Blight or Nurse like you had to deal with, they'll be there in a few seconds anyhow, but that's why they're SS tier I suppose.

From what I recall he didn't actually say his stance on Chucky. He said something along the line of there was discussion about adding Chucky and some felt he wasn't a good fit.
Hidey-ho!I believe this is the interview you guys are referring to. It was a pretty big deconfirmation at the time, even if timeline wise BHVR was either just about to acquire the license or had just gotten it. Dave said he was interested, so Chucky was presented as a problem the dev team thought themselves capable of solving, but hadn't yet. Very glad they managed to make him work in the end!
I do think Chucky may have been mentioned a long long time ago where he was said to be impossible because of his height, but I feel like that was sometimes around Clown, so it wouldn't really matter much as a deconfirm anyway.

Funny how people have such differing views. I think his power is kinda interesting, firing projectiles like a grenade launcher looks fun, but design wise, id give him a 1/10.
Very fair. Tbh, although nothing about his power really excites me, as it's just a mashup of things other killers do, he is both fun to play as and against without having anything inherently busted imo, so I'm still pretty satisfied with him.
Is it the found footage/analog horror power I had in mind? No, but I'll definitely take it.
-
The Dev team is full of F13 fans, so I'd say Dave was just repping it for the sake of it. That said, yes please! Might not be likely right now with some currently known information (not sure if we're allowed to discuss this on the forum), but I really hope F13 comes eventually. Jason is by far the biggest horror icon not in the game, it'd be sweet to see him in the fog.
-
Honestly, I think the perk would be completely fine if they removed the tertiary effect that wakes you up. It makes sense thematically, but all Killer specific perk changes were removed awhile ago, so idk why this is still in the game.
Also, if Adrenaline was allowed to wake survs up, why wasn't Wake Up? Like, really?
-
If they reverted Huntress this would basically be a near perfect chapter imo
-
Ability isn't very interesting, but I'll buy him for that new Gen Stealth Perk and use it to scare the piss out of survs with him. The Hallucinations are cool, even if it's just a fancy Doctor illusion you can teleport to. 10/10 from the design team, justifies his addition off that alone.
-
Feels bad when it happens but honestly, if they've gotten that far, might as well let em have it. It's a hype strat for them and I've probs already lost.
-
I agree, a lot of people keep saying you can see the crows manually, but the radius is so long that it's really useful on indoor maps, it calls out players behind you, and the cool down is extremely short. A ton of players don't expect it.
That said, there are still better info perks obvs like Ultimate Weapon, and Spies doesn't really have any synergy with other perks.
Very easy to recommend to beginners though, and the hate it gets is unwarranted I feel. Maybe to buff it, it could spawn more crows around the map? Just a thought.

@sizzlingmario4 said:
Basekit Windows and basekit Zanshin would not really be equal. The info they provide is far more valuable for survivors than it is for killers. While those perks can help both sides locate where resources are, Windows also helps survivors know which pallets/walls have already been dropped or broken. Killers don't need this information because they participate in every chase in the game, so they should already know what pallets have been used already, whereas survivors don't see every chase and their teammates can use pallets without them knowing. And generally speaking, survivors have more control over where a chase goes as they are the ones running away from the killer, so having info on what areas have resources and what areas to avoid is more useful for them.
This is why Windows is a meta perk and Zanshin Tactics is not.
@Exxodus21 said:
There's a point where too much information makes the game boring and easy. Survivor is already close to that point, even having more information about killer powers than the killers do (example Plague can't see how infected a survivor is). They also get information on when certain perks like Dissolution are active so they can avoid them.
Basekit Zanshin on killer wouldn't help much imo, whereas basekit Windows on survivor would be an unbelievably strong buff and overall unhealthy for the game.
Very well put, while it would be a nice benefit for map knowledge, it could also disrupt the balance in quite a fierce way. While I don't think the idea couldn't work completely, it wouldn't be nearly as simple as just adding both perks at base.

The Saw Soundtrack, especially all the original score created for the films, is owned and licensed by its writer: Charlie Clouser. Because Charlie owns the rights and licensing control over that score, negotiations for it to be in DbD would have to go to him instead of the movie producers/directors/writers who own all of the characters, story, film rights, an so on.
It doesn't help that Charlie Clouser has a reputation for committing his music to only 1 property at a time, and refuses to budge once a deal is made. Basically, getting him to agree to putting his original score for the Saw franchise into a videogame, would require that the game be ONLY about the saw franchise, and have full royalties rights for every copy sold. Being that Pig already came out years ago, and isn't getting much more in the way of sales... in order for BHVR to convince Clouser, they'd have to get help from the people they are already licensing the character from, AND have enough money to pay Clouser the royalties for every Pig/Saw chapter they've sold to the playerbase as if she always had the licensed music.
Basically, it would honestly be better and more cost effective for BHVR to create their own original score that's just similar enough to feel familiar to the character, but not so similar they could get sued for copyright infringement.
This was very informative, thanks!! Shame that the music is likely not in the cards then. Who knows, maybe the music could come as a paid add-on Charlie gets full royalties for. I'd pay for it, though we don't have anything like that in the game currently.

Because survivors were God mode without any skill needed for 5-6 years and only now that has changed. Who wants to be in an equal environment when he grew up literally in luxury all his life? Who wants killers that you can't outrun by predropping 20+ pallets, when such sweet m1 killers exist?
Someone never got downed by an instant saw Billy then Mori'd on first down on launch day and it shows. I really do wish some of y'all were there to see how this game actually worked in its hayday. It'd be like making Baby Boomers live through the Great Depression.
We aren't all Bully squads looking to make your life miserable with broken builds and perks, some of us are that Nea running Chemical Trap for the third match in a row because we truly believe that THIS game we'll finally be able to use it.

Wow, I saw you around a lot. Surprised to see so many old timers on the forum get banned a lot.

Pal I looked up the word Flagellant and I'm not sure what there is in this game that affects hooks in a sense where that's an accurate adjective.

Imma be real man, I never even see DS most games, I don't know how you're playing to proc it a bunch to think it warrants complaints, but I think I can guess. I think DS is pretty fine as, it needs the 5 second stun back but that's about it. So long as people don't start using it uber offensively like back in the old days, I'm cool. I can't imagine the devs will make any massive changes given how much this perk has plagued them over the years, but we'll see.

I can't really comment on The Unknown since I haven't versed him, but I think it's unhealthy how the other killers are basically getting buffed so there is no punishment for missing.
For Huntress, I agree with this all the way, but I can't really think of any other killers this statement applies to. Clown just had his Pinky Finger reduced to one bottle which makes hitting shots even more integral to that playstyle.

The traps aren't useless, they literally just had the timer change reverted. Is the Aura change really completely ruining the character to the point you can't enjoy playing Pig? What were you using with that information that made it so integral to your playstyle in the first place?

I think he saying they are making killer a very braindead gameplay. There is no punishment to missing or making mistakes.
Huntress is a great example with giving her 7 hatches. Even with 5 hatchets, you really got to be horrible skill to not hit someone twice with 5 chances.
You can't miss more than two shots with Unknown before Weakness wears off typically, so I don't see where this idea comes from. If The Unknown hit you in the first place, it means the killer is at least capable of hitting a shot, and there aren't many places where a hit is guaranteed like Huntress, who's considered to have a massive skill ceiling for those going for long shots.
Missing shots with Unknown already comes with a decently long cool down on reload and you get slowed down, how is it that a buff to hitting shots rewards players that can't? It's not like you can spawn Hallucinations while using UVX either, so that's the other part of your power being solwed by missing. This change just allows Unknowns who can get those hits to down in 3 shots instead of four as was often the case in the PTB, which felt terrible as a killer. I don't really see the issue tbh

No aura's on boxes was enough to kill literally all the fun? Even when a different way of playing her became more viable alongside it?
Never in my life did I think I'd see a Pig player upset that Ambush was buffed, I guess I should adjust my perspective.

Its not necessarily that simple, its essentially them building a wall but the cheaters find a way to jump over it. BHVR can and do continue to make that wall higher and higher, but the cheaters still find ways to hop over it.
Its a constant battle of attrition that isnt exclusive to DbD. Devs fix an insecurity, and then cheaters find another way.
This is definitely true, but I still feel like DBD has been extremely poor in regards to it's security between instances of hackers giving themselves unfair advantages and ddos attacks. It's like how if you lock your door, people can still break in, but people who leave their doors wide open are still more likely to be broken into. BHVR is making itself an easier target by leaving these issues unaddressed.

I really don’t know about that. Simply holding forward after a hit wastes a ton of the killer’s time, and it doesn’t require pallets. The forest maps in particular are gigantic, and have many pallets. I think there either need to be fewer pallets on maps, fewer unmindgameable loops/pallets.
This is still nothing like the Games predrops where you just can't get to them in time, so can we at least agree on the map variability? I'm completely cool with us having different stances on this btw I just wanna see if there's some kinda common ground we can work the conversation off of.
As for forest maps, this playstyle requires such a massive waste of resources so quickly it's crazy to go for, corrupt would make this maybe one of the best things that could happen to a killer. Even without it, if there's a survivor just holding forward and throwing pallets I can A. Walk around to get to them, or B. Waste a valuable pallet at the start of the game for free, either way, that's one more thing they can't work with when the time comes.
Furthermore, most of the killers in the game already have numerous means of getting around this:
Ranged Killers get free hits with this playstyle.
Stealth killers don't give the player a chance to run in the first place.
Transportation Killers sip their tea as they effortlessly clear the distance.
etc.
We could keep going, but I don't feel like writing more tbh and we all get the point. For M1 no chase killers, i.e. Trapper and Freddy with no gens around, that's kinda why they need buffs, yeah. They're already considered the weakest characters in the game by many, it's not really a testament to how strong Holding W is if it only works on the already bad killers. The other examples are killers like Xeno, Chucky, and Ghostface being knocked out of their powers, in which case, that's just the player getting punished for messing up, which is what should happen, no? Then there's just Oni who's M1 until he gets the best power in the game for 40 seconds to make survivor life hell. It makes sense that he'd have to struggle to obtain such a powerful tool.
Overall, I feel like Holding W simply isn't a viable option in by far the most cases to be considered OP.

They can’t predrop? I don’t see how pre dropping is at all demanding.
As a primarily killer player, I think we should all be able to agree this varies wildly depending on maps. GoJ and The Game have a ton of pallets a killer will pretty much always need to break, but Autohaven and a fair amount of the other forest maps? Holding W is a good way to get caught with no resources up.
-
It would be great if BHVR'S notoriously awful anti-hack was tuned up. How much money is being poured into the cosmetic and licencing departments while such basic technical insecurities remain unfixed?
Also, you might want to consider changing the title of the post if you want to reach more people. Urging a developer response in titles, especially while being brand new, generally leads to people writing you off.

Exactly killer gets held by the hand and now they're saying git gud lets go to before 6.1 for a week and see if the killer can git gud.
It comments like these I dislike seeing cause you're criticizing OP for something you're actively doing in literally this exact reply. This is DBD, its version of handholding is to grip your arm for dear life, blindfold you, and walk you headfirst into a river. We don't need to snap at each other like petty kids over the silly spider god murder game.
-
If I had a dollar for every time some random DBD player thought long and hard about all the balance and design nuances stuck in every facet of this game, from the killers to maps to perks and everything in-between, and still thinks the solution is "git gud" in a match making system that's literally meant to put players at an equal skill together, I might actually be able to afford some cosmetics.
-
Dredge and Unknown dragging the survivor off to some unexplained nightmare I think sells it the best. There's something about the animalistic brutality of Demo's mori that makes me squirm, but I think that's just more of a me thing.
