  • I honestly find the pushback on this idea strange. In a SWF, this Plot Twist issue never happens, and making a minor UI change for the sake of clarity just makes survivor knowledge more consistent, and thus easier to balance the game around. Plot Twist is one of hundreds of survivor perks, so it's unlikely a new player will personally encounter it or expect to see it often. So when that new player looks on the HUD and sees someone on the floor, they'll probably think it's cause the killer downed them and they hadn't noticed, or the downed survivor was surprised by a stealth perk or killer.

The point is, it isn't a skill issue when you simply don't know what's happening, and let's be real, DBD isn't the best at making information accessible to new players. A silly little icon on the HUD makes the game more accessible to newer players, presumably without disturbing any of us who do realize when someone is Plot Twisting. So what's the issue with adding this?

I understand that players don't want the skill ceiling lowered, but this is hardly a skill, it's players misreading an unclear UI because of a niche perk and making a stupid decision because of it.

  • I think Trapper is at least a tier worse than the rest of the cast. At least Michael has good addons and Basekit instadown plus half TR, and Freddy gets a TP, minor anti loop, and minor Basekit slowdown. Trappers traps, though better, simply require too much setup and can be saboed too easily to be worth it a lot of the time.

  • Tbh I've seen a lot of hype outside the forums for this chapter, and I'm actually pretty excited myself. The killer power is cool, I like the map, the chapter is a new direction for DBD, the bard perk is funny, you can now play as a nonhuman survivor, Matt motherf*in Mercer is voicing Vecna!

Maybe I'm crazy, but aside from the fact that WotC can pound sand, I'm hyped for this.

  • It's also worth noting that the solo killer in March is also licensed, though that's a ways off. I'm glad we'll be getting Castlevania, great games and an amazing show. The Solo survivor will probably be somebody big with the way the devs were talking.

A few possibilities off the top of my head for the solo killer are Predator, Art the Clown, Springtrap, Candyman, Freddy, but we'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully we make it without any leaks for awhile. The Alien and Chucky reveals were hype af

I haven't seen the stream so I'm only getting infomation about it from here. I figured it was the Game Mode but then it was stated it was for customs. So I thought it was a modifier.

So, if we are back to it being a Game Mode. Where is my Kill With Friends option?

The devs stated around the end of the Livestream that you will be able to que up with a friend as killers.

  • I don't tend to slug for the 4k unless I'm making the biggest comeback of all time (although tbh I'd still probably give hatch), or just got finished crushing a team acting toxic. I did funnily enough have a match recently where I slugged a Mikhaela to find a Leon that had sent me three annoying messages over Xbox, and she ended up 4%ing when I went back for her so I gave her gate.

It is kind of weird that they gave Vecna a map and not Dracula, isn't it? Castlevania is much more known for its location—It's the name of the series, even, when I'm not confident the map for Vecna is even something from any official DnD content.

Very true. It's probably going to bug me for a while now that it's been pointed out. Castlevania has a ton of little creeps and locations for a good map in the castle, especially since it'd presumably be one of the few indoor maps with a somewhat open interior.

I'll take it though tbh, the new map looks banging anyways.

  • If I had to think of a licensed hero character not in DBD that's presumably more popular than the villains from their series, I'd say it's between Rick Grimes, Sidney Prescott, and Isaac Clarke.

We'll see though, I am glad we ended up getting one reveal that slipped past leakers.

  • That actually really sucks now that I think of it, but tbf we did just get a medieval map with a magic Castle in it. I would've swapped the current and next chapter and put Castlevania as the anniversary chapter with a map, but ig BHVR had other plans.

Regardless, Castlevania is hype as an inclusion, and Dracula and the Belmont's are gonna be sweeet.

  • Looks like they're really trying to push the envelope this year in terms of licenced content. This could be extremely good for the game, or year 2 is about to get an impromptu sequel.

    Also, CASTLEVANIA LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Often enough. Usually because I was busy with survivor #3

why does the way it triggered matters suddenly?

survivors are weaker when they are losing? What a concept…

10 hook stages means 2 survivors are dead, and 2 are almost dead. Unless they are already leaving, the killer is favoured.

weird quotation. What even is the point?

The point is we can pretend states of the match are neutral when they aren't, but that's simply not true. A killer can win the match at any gen number, and without endgame perk gains no benefits from the triggering of Endgame, therefore there is no tangible benefit to the killer being in Endgame compared to earlier in the game. If I have 4 hooks at 4 gens, the game is in my favor. If I have 4 hooks at Endgame, I'm doing worse, not better. Endgame is a worse place to be than Gens, and I can't believe I have to explain this.

Now, obviously someone could say that the killer needs to be at more hooks to keep up, but that sounds like an exact reason to me that Endgame favors survivors. After all, isn't it weird that this state of the match does nothing for you as killer, your prey can now escape, and you're also potentially behind in Hook stages?

It's like saying killing a survivor doesn't favor killer, because technically the game "favors who's winning." It doesn't matter what the circumstances surrounding the triggering of Endgame are, because it as a mechanic only benefits survivors tangibly, and there's no reason a Killer would ever want to trigger it by itself instead of simply staying at however many gens left there are.

Look, I don't if this is simply a misunderstanding, but I'm not doing this anymore. We could argue over the state of this DBD term forever, but I'm not about to be told a mechanic has neutral effect on a match when it does functionally nothing for one side.

I cleared all my killer/survivor adepts a few months ago in a span of like 4 days, couple of hours long sessions, most weren't all that hard. Why would adept challenges be considered a thing only people hating themselves would do?

My mistake, I still think of Adept more of how it was viewed a few years ago when Adept Dredge took me hours in of itself.

That said, I did make the brilliant decision to do all my survivor adepts through solo q, so the challenge may have been easier had I used different resources, but I still hold that anyone trying to do the same nowadays is probably a masochist, although back in the day the challenge was much harder.

  • Wotc sucks, but Konami is already in the room so I guess I'm letting consumerism win this time.

DnD has a lot of potential, and I'm mostly just excited for something new. Getting a dark fantasy chapter is welcome, and I hope the power, perks, and map deliver on the opportunities afforded to the devs.

    Regardless, we'll see soon.

  • This thread is maybe the closest I've ever felt to 2017 DBD since that time. It's like Freddy just came out all over again. I'm frightened, and yet, it feels good to be home.

  • Tbf Adept is a challenge for people who hate themselves so it might actually be better to leave it that way

  • Sabotage can already be pretty fast tbh, so I'm not entirely worried unless they give it a major major buff. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • I mean it's a hatch win, the game is already over. Sometimes it'll spawn in front of them, sometimes it'll spawn in front of you.

This is nowhere near the worst case of randomness in DBD. Not everything has to be controlled.

gonna tell you a secret… the endgame favours whoever is winning.

it does not matter the gen count if the killer has the last survivor as good as dead, does it?

''wow the survivor has such an advantage at this endgame, all the killer can do is look slightly left and right to check both gates! Let's see how this plays out…''

How often do you trigger Endgame via gens with one survivor left? Two? Would you rather be at 4 gens left or is this somehow a better situation for you? Personally, I think survivors are weaker when they haven't done the one thing that lets them win, but sure, Endgame favors no one. In fact, I'll let you in on a secret too. 10 Hook stages doesn't favor killer, because objectives only matter once they've been fully fully completed ig.

"Wow, the survivor has such an advantage at this nonendgame, they can't leave the match! I sure am glad we aren't in Endgame, which is the state of the game I as a survivor am trying to trigger. Let's see how this plays out..."

  • The way the game works says it. Are you aware that survivors can leave during endgame? Is that a good thing for killer? The answer is no, ergo, Endgame is the worst part of the match a killer can be in.

  • @OrangeBear said:

Does anyone know who the survivor could even be? I know nothing about dnd and i haven't seen any speculation about it either

There's a lot of playable DnD classes. Thief's, Mages, Rangers, Paladins, Elves, Dwarves, Druids, etc.

One of the selling points of the game is that everyone makes a unique character with its own backstory, so we might see a BHVR original survivor that's merely set in the DnD world, or we might get an NPC character that's well known to DnD, of which there are likely a lot of options.

I've heard talk of an Elf survivor, but that's just talk, nothing concrete.

  • I think it's worth noting that Japanese players have quite literally developed a different Meta with different strategies to counter different killers and a different way of playing the game that can genuinely affect the viability of killers in the region. Looking at the recent tournament between Western and Japanese players, I wouldn't really say either region is wrong in how they categorize things, just that they've both developed quite well to their respective styles of play.

I think the reason Otz and other players view Myers without his add-ons and Plague with her add-ons is how much the add-ons add to each killer.

Plague's best add-ons simply make her more consistent. The apple creates a new fountain, which makes her less map dependant in terms of whether you'll get a corrupt fountain in a useful area. A great addon, but not one that drastically changes her kit functions. If you're lucky, you'll get two fountains in a good area, but although that's powerful, it isn't a new ability.

Myer's Add-ons change his kit drastically. He can get new abilities, like Aura reading with mirrors or the option to kill survivors with Tombstone. He can get a 4m terror radius with Dead Rabbit and Monitor or he can increase stalk rate and take Infinite T3. He's hard to rank because his add-ons change his kit so much, whereas Plague's just make her stronger.

The Endgame is largely meant to be in Survivor's favor

    said who?

    Said who?

    The Entity.

As a survivor, would you rather be at 4 gens left in a match, or in Endgame? What do you think a killer will say when you ask them that same question? Endgame is the thing a killer shouldn't let happen, and it isn't a part of the match that generally benefits them aside from the resources they've presumably used up. A killer is meant to outpace the onset of the Endgame in terms of hooks, whereas survivors are supposed to get through Endgame before the killer can get those hooks. Ergo, it means survivors are in the homestretch, which is never good as a killer.

Therefore, when a match hits Endgame, it's largely not good for the killer, ie in survivors favor.

  • I'd be fine with a perk that does this, provided it has a work around to not be busted with Remember Me, but as a Basekit feature I'd really rather not. The Endgame is largely meant to be in Survivor's favor, let's keep it that way.

  • Deathslinger has better, more straightforward perks, while Blights aren't as good but tend to be sillier and more fun. Between them, Blight is Obviously better as a killer.

I'd say it depends whether you prefer to play Huntress or Hillbilly, as DS is a little similar to the former and Blight the latter. You can't really go wrong with either imo!

  • @Huge_Bush said:

if Survivors get a fireball before Nemo gets a rocket launcher and before I get a bush cosmetic I will be very upset.

Now, when you say "bush" cosmetic, you mean the plant, right?

  • Is the implication that Ruin needs a rework, or that Blastmine and Wiretap need to be useful even when a Gen is regressing? Even if survivors could place those items on gens while they were regressing, is that even necessarily useful? Wiretap probably, Blast Mine I can't think of anything.

  • I think it's harmless tbh. If the killer is getting frequent use out of Bloodlust, it means they are definitely losing.

  • I think BHVR was actually planning a bit more for survs this season. See, because they hate their players for no reason, they're obviously plotting right this minute the exact ways to antagonize their fan base beyond belief.

Luckily, the Entity itself has graced my dreams (and nightmares) with visions of the anniversary patch, so without further ado:

They'll be reverting Old Moris, all the Regression nerfs they just announced, Old Old Ruin is back with the Skillcheck gimmick, Jolt and Surge are back, Huntress and Clown get their pinks reverted, Nurse gets 5 Blinks Basekit, Blights current Iri add-ons are buffed, and let's see...oh! I think they've also removed anti3gen and anti-camp, and the only map in the game is now the Basement.

Okay, I have read every single comment, and I must say that my mind hasn't been changed, this chapter is still mid, I will come back to this thread when the next chapter releases to tell everyone that I was the one who predicted it, and I will boast about it until I'm blue on the face (or red on my fingers rather)

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/413625/in-my-opinion-next-chapter-already-looks-mid

That's a pretty good idea, mind if I hop Oni it?

I'm going to claim that sometime, somewhere, a DBD chapter will be mid.

I will make a thread saying this, and when the naysayers come, and a chapter ends up mid, I will come back to that thread when that chapter releases to tell everyone that I was the one who predicted it, and I will boast about it until I'm blue in the face (or red on my fingers rather)

In fact, I'm also going to claim that sometime, somewhere, a DBD chapter will be successful.

    Source?

There was a tweet posted to the official account teasing the anniversary, and the VA sounds a lot like the one for Harley Quinn to many.

Nothing is confirmed, but who knows?

  • It doesn't need to be a meta shakeup per se, and I wouldn't call any of the perks aside from Pop majorly nerfed, but now the people running four slowdowns every game will actually have to play for matches that don't involve 3-4 SWF. Individually, these changes aren't anything big, but together? They add up. I'm surprised DMS wasn't touched tbh

  • Weird, I don't think I've been on it in awhile either. Could be a bug, or we're all just crazy.

  • There just aren't enough safe pallets to ration for the match in my experience. I still prefer it's current version to the old one, but man.

That said, it isn't unwinnable, and there are still a few maps I dislike a lot more.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/413689/why-are-people-surprised-about-regression-nerfs-it-was-coming

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/X5J8YY711Y46/image.png

Whenever someone tells me "killers are stronger than ever", I remember back when the average red rank kill rate was 68.19%.

Was this before MMR? Most survivor matches that weren't SWF had a couple inexperienced players in them.

Still, that was a wild time for the game.

  • I distinctly remember Pop used to be considered healthy for the game back in the day, because it was only useable if the killer progressed their objective, rewarding skilled play and disincentivising bm.

Now, the game is a little different. There's less outright BS than before (old keys and mori's), but most killers tend to immediately opt for hooks when they get the chance. Because of this, and the fact that killer is stronger than it was before in terms of Basekit stats, Pop now feels like it can give too big a reward for something that will ideally be happening at least 11 times that match for the killer (the last one is useless but that doesn't really change the point).

I think the nerf was warranted, and the new Gen Regression system should hopefully keep it from being bad going forward.

Perhaps the giant Oni thing was a test to see how a seriously big character could play? That thing might pop upnas the killers power.

Would be neat but keep in mind My Little Oni required tons of map changes to work. If this is the killer power we'll either see entirely new variants of most maps, or some will just outright be disabled for the killer, the easiest example I can think of being Indoor maps

    surge only hit 8%/gens.

Even if it hit 3gens (24%) it is still weaker than other meta gen perk in that moment.

And most of the time it only hit 1 gen sometime 2.

And because the survivor usually will want to loop the killer away from the working gen so teammate can do the gen ⇒ your surge won't hit the target gen you want.

⇒so when the perk come out every body call it a garbage perk and nobody use it for a really long time.

Surge is free though so you don't have to go out of your way to use it. It's maybe one of the best slowdown perks against bully squads since their usual strategy of goading killers to waste time often blows up in their face. I especially like it on stealth killers because of how frequently you can catch survivors around gens.

It's not at the level of any current meta slowdown perks, but it's not bad and hasn't ever been on the right killers. Now that the meta is shaking up, you might be seeing it a bit more often if you play survivor.

  • @CLHL said:

It should be reverted to TOTAL progress with any percentage they estimate… The current POP is already trash. People use it because there is nothing better, not because it's a good perk.

Basically every possible statistic and experienced player will tell you Pop is one of the best perks in the game. I'm not even sure if you can even call it an opinion when killers objectively kill more when it's in their load out. Check Nightlight, ask your friends, ask a streamer, idk but unless this is bait, nawwwwww

  • I'll miss his current state but I think the changes are for the best tbh. He's a lot healthier this way counterplaywise. I just want them to change his scamper addons.

  • I'm honestly still recovering from all my previous attempts trying to use the perk, I can't even imagine trying it again.

That said, 50 secs of unregressable progress isn't bad, and it applying to all gens is something that shouldn't be underestimated imo. There'll be someone out there who finds success running it with No Mither, mark my words.

  • All the people saying DS is dead now like it wasn't Top 10 in pickrate at 3 seconds is weird to me. I think it has enough bite to adequately deincentivise Tunneling, but it should hopefully curb some of the DS bodyblocks that have been getting more common as of late.

  • Did we ever get word on what was up with that? Maybe they ended up doing something more substantial and we'll see it on the next roadmap. Either that or I'll see you in 4 years.

  • This actually sounds extremely hype. Perkwise Background Player and DS are less annoying, the PopRes meta is weaker if not dead, and Weaving Spiders might actually be useful! It still needs to be able to work while gens are blocked, but I digress. Deadlock and Grim Embrace are hopefully a bit healthier now.

As for killer updates, Bubba and DS being less addon dependent is great, Wesker is thankfully much worse at tunneling, Blight had his add-ons changed for the billionth time.

Chucky is now much worse as a killer and idk how to feel about it. On one hand, hopefully now people will enjoy facing him more than before, on the other, I'm a 110 Killer with just Slice and Dice for map traversal. The cooldown buff will hopefully keep him A Tier, but he's well away from the top 3 some people argued he was now. His scamper addon's should hopefully be tweaked so they don't become useless, but we'll see. I'd rather they just increase the time it takes to scamper tbh.

Sabo being buffed is good since other potential offensive options were nerfed for survivor. Hopefully the scale evens out a bit.

New Borgo lighting could completely change how the map is viewed for some players, so I'm weirdly hyped to check it out.

Overall, W changes, and this does a lot to lessen the pain the last patch caused the game!

  • All lunges end up the same distance regardless of the actual size of the weapon, so there's no real gameplay benefit to bringing any of the weapons. It's why Freddy's lunge feels longer than it should be, because he has to make the distance most killers do with a weapon, when he's just ole Sharp Hand Joe.

  • This anniversary could be any number of things, but I'm cautiously optimistic. I just hope for Myers buffs and a Freddy rework on the roadmap. Hopefully they'll have some big licences to mention for fueling speculation. That aside, I'd also like to see the general gameplay improvements they've got planned.

These last couple of patches haven't been the best for the game, so I'm mostly just hoping for a turning point in that regard.

  • Seeing this argument over whether the original or licensed chapters sucked this year is crazy cause I kinda loved all of them. Killers were cool with my only major nitpick being Xeno's tail windup. I love Chucky so much tbh he's one of my new favorite killers. Toba is actually pretty fun when you aren't playing Rush or Ranged killers, and I like Singularities power even if he's hard to use. Unknown was obvs a massive W.

Maybe I'm just an optimist. It's a shame that leaks have made it rather obvious who the next killer will be, but they certainly sound like a fun inclusion, so the presentation ought to be cool.
