Survivor: Killer you should worry more about my fun, don't play in a way that I don't like

Killer: are you going to stop flashlight saving, pallet saving, gen rushing, hook sabotaging, body blocking and hitting every safe pallet in every chase?

Survivor: Why would I do that

    Killer: same answer

    Survivor: but that's not fair

Seriously guys this is a 4v1 game, the 1 has to play unfair or they lose. their job is not to lose, it's to make you lose. If a killer is not oppressive they are badly designed. instead of pressuring the devs to make the game feel unoppressive to you why don't you play a game where that isn't the theme of the game. If unfair tactics bother you then don't use them on others. if a killer can't tunnel you can't save or body block. that killer earned that down and that hook. Most players in the NFL earn a superbowl victory but only one team gets it. BTW most of the unfair tactics are handily countered by decent SWF teams or are required to beat decent SWF teams so if you hate being in bad teams try to build a good one and practice.

idk. I start playing unfair if there is too many flashlight saves, or other things that prevent me from hooks. In every other cases im doing 8 hooks before killing, and my kill rate is around 2.5, which is "win" according to bhvr.

  • As a killer i try to hook everyone 2 times before starting to kill and for most games, survs are not salty if died. I think this is the valid way to win.

As a surv i enjoy games in which i can do anything and gg after the game where killer spread hooks moreless equally.

    He can't be everywhere?

You try to focus two gens on side, whenever killer goes your way, you prerun away. He goes for other gen, you go back to work on it. Repeat. If killer commits you don't try to loop there, just hold W as far as you can from 3-gen.

    That's how.

You really thought 3-gen is some auto-win strategy? Of course you can beat it. It's harder than when killer plays your way by just randomly chasing whoever he sees, but it's possible.

Merchant with CoB and overcharge, that was near impossible. Even tournament level teams had problems with it, but those two perks are nerfed into oblivion, so it's possible again.

Of course depends on killer how hard it is.

Yeah... but we are talking about the situation where those gens cannot be even reached, and killer do not commit to chases. Question is still unanswered - how to break this 3gen. If you can reach gen and do anything before killer came, then yes, sure. But what if You cant even touch the gen, or come near to it. This is the starting situation i replied about keeping game hostage. Not regular 3gen or even one that is on screenshot from first post. I understand it is very unlikely scenario and maybe even abstract, but its the situation i was repling.

That is a good idea, but the problem is if someone sees you with adept achievements perks they are 95% gonna bounce the lobby.

    • Unless bHVR changes the achievements so that people can get adept achievements using a 4th perk too.

Or Perk shaming, I remember once I was shamed post match, nobody wants that pre match either.

Do we then toggle the option and then if I don't show my perks will a Survivor then bounce the lobby?

If we ever hope to convince bHVR of implementing that we need to convince them that all these issues wont be a big problem.

Stuff that messes with the pretrial attitude is difficult has been a bit of a black box for bHVR, but I think this would help build up Survivors better in the game aswell as making plans for the Survivors.

Perk shaming, or skipping lobby. This happens in other games too. It was not once, not twice, where my match in LoL was skipped by someone because i choose Lux for support. People often complain of why i use exhaust instead of ignite, or ingame, that i used any item that wasnt on any meta list. this things happens but people live with it.

But maybe tags idea would be better. You have "medic" tag, so other knows where to go if need heal, or to not take other healing perks. Yes, people will be trolling, but trolling is reportable, so if one use tag "medic" and run presicely 0 healing perks or refuse to heal, then report them, and go on.

I can imagine it now. "I'm a good looper" Goes down in 5 seconds.

Yeah, there are different skill levels. One was looping in other games very well, but know got even better killer and down... sht happens.

  • Self-heal needed change. It was op mechanic, too oppresive and just bad. Its ok that without special perks, medkits allow surv for one full selfheal, but more would be just too much. Altruistic healing got buff tho. Healing on itself did not changed. Just heal anyone else beside Yourself and everything will be smoother.

how about you use a partner to help heal or use a syringe? those still works very good.

but of course, people in solo queue plays like they were alone in the world so they fail to realize that what was nerf ... in fact... is the ability to self-heal because it was too good.

With a clearly underline phrase "too good"

  • I may agree that dead hard should not be nerfed to the ground.

But i cannot agree with the statement that "wait it out" is in any way good counter... its bad, its worst. Especially if everyone would do that, then every surv would learn it and also wait with dh and at the end there would be no single hits in those chases... its bad.

Dead hard should be reworked. Maybe not entirely, but for sure.

My idea is to make dh automatic, not lasting 0.5, 1 or X seconds, but activates upon being hit after meeting specific criteria, like:

    1. DH having tokens.
    2. activates only after being unhooked.
    3. activates after X seconds of chase.
    4. Or anything else

To keep its premise but not create a counter called "wait it out". And, DH is very susceptible to internet connection, so small lag can turn perfect DH use into fail and vice versa.

  • How You want to beat 3gen if killer is not moving from there? If killer is not interested in chases so will not down, not hook and not attempt to kill survivors? Please, tell me how?

  • I agree. Same with Trickster and Mastermind.

Also, Skull Merchant seems a bit off. Her movement does not fit to the environment, her mori looks at least weird to not say silly, specially when she picks up a survivor that is taller than her and they both has heads at the same elevation xD

But mostly designs of newest killers, all of them are not scary at all from visual perspective, heck Mastermind is even getting slap in the face during his mori.

    Option B is correct

Refuse to down survivors? How that work? They are free to finish gens at that point, right?

If I see survivor is leaving 3-gen area and I am not in position to down him under 60 seconds, or get hit in 10 seconds. It would be dumb to commit to that chase.

But that's also how survivors should play it, have survivors on each side where is gen, try to work on it and prerun away when killer gets nearby. Sooner or later you will either finish gens, or killer is forced to commit to chase.

Defending 3-gen from start of the game is not really fun strategy, but it works. It's also possible to beat it. So why is that bannable again?

-If killer is doing nothing except preventing game progress. Its reportable and bannable.

-Im not talking that protecting 3gen is reportable.

From what I get, you think defending 3-gen at end of the game is fine, but defending 3-gen from start of the game is reportable. It doesn't make sense.

No. defending 3gen is ok. What is not ok is to not participate in trial.

If You make a situation where to end the game the other side have to forfeit, surrender or let You to kill them, then you are keeping game hostage. If they made such situation its their fault. Can You see the difference? Same with other way around (tho now we have afk crows) if surv is creating a situation where to end the game Your only option was to disconnect, forfeit, surrender the trial, then they was keeping game hostage. This was possible when there was no afk crows, and survs could just hide whole game, or even jump into locker and afk there.

And one of the previous arguments:

"For survivors having fun, why i should care" or something like that. Im gonna to answer why - because playing in most unfun way will make a situation where you would play with noone anymore. But this is behaviour part, to make game fun and engaging, so that people will not leave and so that game will live.

Yes, most of the time, actually. I get trolling survivors

I have just opposite. Whenever i dont want to be healed, i have resilience, gen is nearly done or anything, other survs mostly refuse to do gens and t-bag near me to heal me.

I just want to say that the newest update that has been released has ruined my gaming experience as a survivor and I honestly no longer want to play this game. I think it’s ridiculous that all the Med kits have the same charge and that they aren’t even useful unless you are healing another survivor. Another thing that has been ruined is circle of healing. I can’t even heal myself now without a med kit in circle of healing?! WHY?! I used to have fun playing as survivor and I could as least look forward to winning a match but now I play match after match and I NEVER survive. So what is the point of playing dead by daylight now. I’m over it.

    I have a suggestion.

If being injured, You see one survivor aura - go to them. If You see other survivor boom totem - go there. Its great chance they have healing perks and can heal You almost inatanly.

The premise of healing nerf was to reduce overpowered sef-heals (it was overpowered), and encourage people for altruistic healing, and medkits, coh got great bonus towards altruistic healing and are much better in this that ever was towards self-healing. So healing as whole was buffed, but You need another survivor for it.

  • Are You complaining about tunneling and camping or about healing nerfs? I dont know what i should respond to.

It is possible to break 3-gen, what are you talking about?

There are maps where I regularly play this way. Azarov's Resting Place is probably best example. This maps sucks if you get to low gens and some on both sides. So I just ignore 50% of the map and play with 4 gens total.

It's way to win, my job is to kill survivors. Well, this strategy will help me kill survivors. What's bad about it exactly? That survivors don't have fun, why should I care?

It's definetly not something to get reported for imo. I am not abusing anything, you can't really tell me how to play a killer.

Survivors can try to break my 3-gen, either they do it or die. Or they can go hide in corner and cry on forum. That works too I guess...

But it's not holding the game hostage. Killer can do it only by bodyblocking last survivor in corner. Cheaters can do it whenever they want.

Survivors can do it in theory by hiding for very long time, it's happening when there are last two survivors left, but I don't think that is reportable either. It's annoying as hell and I usually let them bleed out for it, but hey. They can do it.

Do You even understand what i'm talking about?

    Or trying at least?

Do You understand the difference between defending 3gen and sticking to 3gen?

If You defend 3 gens then You catch survivors, down them and hook.

If your goal is to stick to gens, dont chase and refuse to down survivors, then its keeping game hostage.

I dont understand how one can not see the difference... Or im dumb and can't explain it...

  • @brewingtea said:

Archael, you're wrong. Multiple people have tried to correct you. Protecting a 3-gen isn't holding the game hostage, and it 1000% isn't bannable. Report those killers all you want, there's only one person here crying about it

Im not talking that protecting 3gen is reportable.

Not really, he is defending gens. That's killers job.

I can say those survivors simply refused to work on gens, I tried to chase them, but they always prerun and I would lose the game, so I won't commit. It's on them, go work on gens.

Control is not really simply on killer side. If survivors hide, don't go near gens. Is control on killer side? No. Can killer finish the game? No. So it would seem survivors are better at holding the game hostage. They had option to end game at any point. Killer didn't.

No, the premise is that killer was doing nothing since game start. He was not chasing, he was not looking for survs, he was not patrolling gens, he did presicely nothing except waiting at 3gen situation. So no, its not his job. His job is to kill survivors, not to protect gens. If killer was NOT doing his job for whole game, then its his fault. Im not talking about situation of defending 3gen. Im talking abut situation where killer was protecting 3gens from game start and refuse chases and protection of other gens.

Beside. Even if killer is defending 3gen, his main objective is to hook and sacrifice, so if killer is refusing chases and downs only because survs are running away from him (how dare they!) then he is not doing his job.

If killer being afraid he loose is not attempting to win, then he also is not doing his job.

And if you are thinking that survs should forfeit either by disconnect or lett8ing killer kill them, then you should think about it a little more.

Any situation where one side has only choice of forfeit is consider keeping game hostage.

  • @DaddyMyers_Mori said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3408657#Comment_3408657

Did I say survivors were keeping the game hostage? No

They can both do it. Neither side is holding the game hostage. That's stupid. Both were free to give up at any point of the game.

Yeah, but controll here is on killer side. He refused to play the game waiting at dead zone and not let others to play. If You want to say that not participating in trial and denying normal game for others which results in potentially infinite game is not taking game hostage, then do it and i will be happy to report You, then You will be crying at forum that You were banned.

If the only way to progress the game is to forfeit this is exaclty what taking game hostage is. If killer would play whole game normally and survs would leave such 3gen scenario, then its their fault. But if killer found perfect way to block progress from the start and refused in normal gameplay, this is his fault.

    lol, no.

This is not keeping game hostage. They were free to die.

You can apply this logic to killer - he is free to let them finish gens. So why You apply this logic only to one side?

  • @VaporLion said:

the match i had i versed a bubba and all he did is get 1 down, bring it in the 3 gen area and camped on what i labeled as (1). As soon as you try to either do a gen or get the unhook he will deadzone you by walking parallel denying acces towards the middle of the map. So this way there was zero counterplay. And sure you could argue that once bubba gets a down he can facecamp anyway and confirm a kill, however he could also deny any progress in the 3-gen area because there is just too much deadzones and he can insta down you easily.

this is called keeping game hostage. If killer is doing nothing except preventing game progress. Its reportable and bannable.

  • I thought about pharmacy, and I think it should be reworked.

Perk should be active from game start and grant bonus X% to medkit usage efficiency. Also, Pharmacy has 1 token and consumes one upon opening a chest. Token guarantee a medkit in a chest and allow user to see every chest in 8m range.

  • I never use bnp. Using those at the start of the trial is a waste, using those at the end is near impossible. Im better with bringing map and looking for totems for my boon build

  • I really did not notice the changes as survivor xD i never used DH, and my builds was always designed over altruistic healing with no self-heals... so i feel no changes... i believe the update achived what was designed. Now its time for heamorrage, thanatophobia na dnurse calling.

As for regression perks. tbh, as playing killer i was almost never using regression perks (except few times when Sadako came out, but it was overkill for survs). SO i also dont really care about regression perks, i see games without those more fun.

  • I have another anti-camping perk:

Anytime the user is hooked, perk activates and teleport hooked survivor to a random-non basement hook at least 40m away from killer. All modifers that were present on first hook also apply to a target hook (so if someone is teleported to regular hook from scourge hook with gift of pain, then unhooking that person also apply gift of pain. If surv was hooked on basement hook, then target hook do not break after sacrifice).

sorry to tell you but in that case you are playing against unskilled killers. Any decent Killer wont let himself get baited. And you suggesting to make mistakes in order to contest is ridiculous, dont you realize that?

If killer will leave the chases and ignore anything untill 3gen, then they would create the situation where there is only 1 gen to repair, and all survivors are healthy without a hook stage. What that means? Can this killer really defend all those gens? Commit to any chase in this scenario would end in reparing this one gen, and since survs are full health as at the start of the trial is very unlikely the killer would get more than 1k.

The thing is though, this filter sometimes filters out normal words like "gg" or character names like "felix"

    Exactly that.

Also, why saying "im glad You realized i was not going to kill You" is anything bad?

Still, in game which main feature is blood, gore and violance, the mandatory profanity filter is just weird. And if someone is so much hurted by cursed words in chat, then maybe the game on its own is a little too brutal... really people, gore and violance is less hurting than bad words? REALLY?

Profanity filter should be at least optional.

"Where did i say i want those people to see how im offending them."

Where did I write that was your aim?

I'm trying to point out that if your goal is to have a "normal conversation" it wouldn't change anything if one people can have it disabled or another can have it enabled. What you see will be free of hash tags but it's still going to look like that for the people on the receiving end. It won't be any different to what we have now.

It would change everything. Right now i can have normal conversation with noone. If profanity filter was optional, there would be some people i can normally talk to.

  • IMO Stun should override fatigue, and when stunned, Nurse should lost her blinks and need to recharge. She is very hard to stun, so the reward would be nice, this would also help with decesive strike, which atm is useless agaist Nurse, saves max 4s.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If you disable it and if you are doing the typing people who have it still on won't see it anyway.

Yeah, that is the point. If someone is more fragile and is hurt by words, they can enable filter and dont see bad words. This is the whole purpouse for it.

Where did i say i want those people to see how im offending them. I would love to have normal conversation, to be able to tell them im glad they realized that i didnt wanted to kill them, without making words "kill them" a "*************".

  • @VaporLion said:

Its so stupid when people say that its survivors job to make sure they dont 3-gen. The Killer can just camp the 3-gen area and bring hooks near them. So you cant really counterplay that against a Killer that wants to abuse it.

You can, and should lure him out of there. In most cases you should just make a failed skillchek in any other gen, and killer will go there, so you can easly finish generator on a platform.

  • I like map offerings tho some changes in those would be nice:

    1. Map offerings should have lesser odds... like not making 100% but rather somewhere near 75%
    2. anti-maps offerings, making specific maps being less likely to appear, making them 25% of what is regular odds.
  • But still. Being unable to disable profanity filter in game rated as 18+ is just silly to me.

  • I agree that gens at this map are very close to eachother.

But the problem here is that sorvivors left presicely those three gens.

Preventing 3gen situation is a responsibility of survivors, repairing one of those early (1 would be the best target), and leaving gen at the top of saloon would make a real difference

I'm saying bad words are worse than fake videogame violence. Its a game, bro.

Bad words in fake video game are same fake

  • So YOu are saying that bad words are worse than litteral psychopatic violance?

  • @Emeal said:

No. what needs to happen is bHVR to make a look at totem spawn.

    • See if there needs to be more totems in play.
    • See if totems can be hid better.

This would require too much work.

If totems would be lit only when active then survs would either clense them paranoically or look for them when their effect is active.

Stronger hexes are burning consistently since their effect is in play, and some (like ruin) has other disadvantages.

This change would be simple and fair

  • Like no sacrificing? There was suggestion of ghosting, teleporting survs that are on hooks, or just not progress hook stages untill endgame? Lot of things can be done to achive that goal, some of them needs more some needs less balancing but it isnt impossible to achive and it is not unimaginable.

  • @Emeal said:

just because you are a murderer or getting murdered does not mean you should be a rude bean in chat

I can be rude even with profanity filter like typing "easy".

But why i cant spell words like blood, kill etc? I just dropped pools of blood and being killed, and i cannot spell those words in chat? Where is consistency?

  • @Emeal said:

A Killer wanting to Kill you is part of the game, You are playing the game even if you do get tunneled.

But I agree, there isnt much the team can do to save a person who is being tunneled, bHVR you should improve that part of the game.

I think bhvr should put more preassure to pain ad suffering delivered to survivors since Entity is suppoused to feed on emotions. Being killed brings no emptions. Main goal for killer should be chaseing survivors, hitting them and hooking. Sacrifice should be only the last resort when survivrs are starting to loose hope.

  • No. Hex totem should be lit only if their effect is in use.

I mean, if there is no regressing gen, then ruin totem should not be burning. If noone was hooked yet, the lullaby should not be burning, etc.

  • We need two gamemodes in dbd - competetive and casual

If I'm not mistaken, Reactive Healing isn't a flat +50% healing, it's 50% of whatever unhealed portion is left at the time. At the first down with 0 healing, you'd heal for 50% progress, but the second down would only give you 50% of the unhealed half, so 25%, so two downs would only leave you healed for 75% total.

If so, then its no problem.

Yet, increasing mangled effect to apply into those instaheals is worth discussion.

  • @Caiman said:

What if Hemmorhage was changed so that you only lose healing progress while you're running? Like the opposite of Deep Wound ticking down if you're not running. Resurgence and Reactive Healing would still be at risk of going to waste sometimes but Solidarity would work fine, at least.

That is actually good sugestion. If surv can't finish healing, they should be moving slower, which is a slowdown on its own.

    But

I would like to avoid situation where doing nothing heals You for full health, especially if You have healing debufs.

Right now, with reactive healing the only thing You need is to sit in one place and wait untill two downs. I know it will be coincidence, but healing with doing nothing should not be possible or healing while doing nothing having healing debufs should not be possible. So maybe heamorrage would reduce such instaheals by 1% OR mangled status effects could be applied to heals from reactive healing, resurgence etc?

If you cut your numbers by half (or maybe even a little bit more), then this sounds like one of the reasonable things to make medkits distinct from one another. Sounds cool.

But I would personally be most happy, if every medkit had entirely different small effect (like one being speedy, another being quiet, another temporary removing hemorrage, etc). Make each medkit unique in some ways - your version would still make all the medkits almost the same if you found it in a chest...

The point was not numbers but to make different kinds of medkit lines for different purpouses, and to make more of them in general.

You can make them all having same stats like current one, but.

Medical bags reduces grunts of pain

First aid kits removing or pausing negative status effects

Camping bags allowing for special interaction like faster recovery speed or additional healing speed after unhook.

  • @Shaped said:

Iw so decent no one ever uses it except me on ada ocasionally and probably some ppl on ace but I never see it.

Dh is not great at all and it requires you to run other exhaustion perk with it now. You rarely get to use it and it doesn't change the match dramatically in most matches even if you do.

And yeah I am not playing dbd at least surv now that it turned into progress bar simulator. First with gens last year and now with heals and ppl stacking perks to make it even more boring. There are more interactive games to play.

I use Iron Will in my stealth build. I cant say its decent, its great if you dont run exhaustion perks.

  • Maybe increase hook time to 80s per stage would be a thing? This would means that camping would result in only 1k, because 3 survs can finish 5 gens in 160s (those are raw numbers, on fact its more, but for hook time we should also add find surv and chase time).

This would not help with tunneling, but without camping, tunneling will be more difficult.

  • yeah:

    1. Solidarity should remove heamorrage effect if user will heal someone for full health state.
    2. Resurgence should remove heamorrage effect upon being hooked (not with unhook).
    3. Reactive healing... idk, i think its effect is okay interaction with heamorrage. But if we would need buff it, then let it stop heamorrage between being healed by the perk to being healed second time (first heal, if user is under heamorrage should not heal to 50% but to 49% to prevent situation that user is fully healed because being near two downs, need to heal!... this heamorrage is for something You know?)
  • @Caiman said:

Homogenizing the medkits was a necessary step in nerfing them down to a more manageable level, so we can start tweaking things again from this new starting point. My first suggestion is to tweak the heal speeds to be a little further apart so that the medkit rarities mean something again.

    • Brown Medkit: +15% heal speed, smaller skillcheck success zones
    • Yellow Medkit: +30% heal speed
    • Green Medkit: +45% heal speed
    • Purple Medkit: +60% heal speed, larger skillcheck success zones

On the other hand, we could also add different effects to the medkits so that they have unique features and additional utilities. Maybe the Green Medkit lowers the volume of the injured survivor being healed like Iron Will, and the Purple Medkit silences them completely like Bite the Bullet.

What could be very useful is a Medkit (or Add-On) that greatly boosts healing a survivor in the dying state like We're Gonna Live Forever.

I would suggest something maybe little controvercial.

    Few medkit lines

Medical bags with bonus for altruistic healing speed:

    1. Brown medical bag +35% healing speed
    2. Yellow medical bag +40% healing speed
    3. Green medical bag +45% healing speed
    4. purple medical bag +50% healing speed

First aid kits, with more charges for both altruistic and selfheal (2 heals instead of one):

    1. Brown 30 charges
    2. Yellow 36 charges
    3. Green 42 charges
    4. Purple 48 charges

Camping bags with self healing speed:

    1. Brown -25% self healing speed
    2. Yellow -20% self healing speed
    3. Green -15% self healing speed
    4. Purple -10% self healing speed

Dressing Disposal Bags with item efficiency for both altruistic and selfheal (would be something else because effect is the same as with first aid kits):

    1. Brown -25%
    2. Yellow = regular efficiency
    3. Green +25%
    4. Purple +50% efficiency

and all medkit related addons would apply to any type of medkits

this would be extended to other items too, like toolboxes, some for gen repair speed, some with sabotage bonusses.

Also addons could be then tweaked and add new effects, like reducing heamorrage, reduce grunts of pain etc.

  • Before nerfs i would wait untill situation stabilize. IMO those perks are used now more often to be tried out.

Im gonna say that i use those, sloppy for most characters, and gift on Nurse, but i was always using those perks and honestly i cant see better performence with them since update.

What i am seeing that have better performance is Nurse Calling and Thanatophobia, maybe because i always paired it with sloppy or gift, but those two are now buffed because of healing changes:

    1. Survs self-healing are revealed for longer.
    2. Survs healed by other ones can show me who is the medic in a team.
    3. Survs with thanatophobia have urge for heal but cannot self-heal as effectively as earlier.

OK maybe I did not make myself clear enough.

I use this method as a test if I think someone is cheating and very sus in general. People with auto DH hit it frame perfect every single time, no matter how long you wait or bait it.

A while back I faced a subtly cheating Nea on RPD she was also tbagging and clicking with her flashlight a lot. I somehow got a hook on her in the middle of the match and she got 2nd stage because nobody was coming, but after that things were strange. I did not seem to gain distance on her or better said: she was speeding up every time I lost line of sight. Then she blinded me with a flashlight around a corner in one of the hallways while I was looking down (very sus). I left her a while and when I downed someone else she was there (still injured) to get her cheater flashlight blind. We were mindgaming around a semi safe downed pallet. One time I swung at the pallet with her on the other side and bam! she used DH.

This is what I meant. No person in that case would DH.

She was tbagging me in the exit gate but got banned 1 day later.

The other things seems more like a cheat than auto dead hard. As i stated before, cheaters with auto dead hard may be confused with normal players for various reasons including coincidance. So making dead hard actually automated would change nothing. Also in case You described, i would be much more intrigue with flashlights and distance than actual dead hard usage.

    but also one thing.

lets now create a scenario and assume that dead hard and its usage is a great way to catch cheaters alongside their other cheats. Is it really a reason why to not improve overall gameplay that includes dead hard?
