Noooo 4 and 5 were my babies! Revelations was decent too. Village was also a blast. Even Umbrella Chronicles was a lot of fun.
But we don't talk about Operation: Raccoon City.
Is there a character you would prefer to have instead?

I'd be curious to hear why you consider 2 the cut-off point.

I absolutely loved 6. It was even my favorite. Was quite bummed about 7 throwing all the main characters out the window and not continuing from 6. I also ended up really enjoying revelations 2 for its multiplayer missions mode where you got to play as most of the re characters, and i ended up having moira burton as a favorite character in re only for her to never show up again lol
I like it when lore is simple to understand, with little to no sequels that change the main character or worsen the original storyline.
In RE 2 remake, not much happens with Leon and Claire beyond their main goals. Some players speculated that Capcom might not have planned a future with Ada because of how she fell, but others believed she more likely used her grapple gun or landed on a rooftop of some kind, despite how fast she was falling for that to be realistic. I really liked the happy ending in that game, it felt complete, and it's easy to imagine how their lives went on from there. But I lost interest after the RE 3 remake because the lore started to feel a bit repetitive.
Don't get me wrong, though. I still like the characters, and I find Jake and Sherry's story really wholesome to read. -

I'm still trying to pretend RE6 never happened.
I heard the game was pretty disappointing, but personally I loved seeing Sherry again.
I also like to pretend that nothing happened after Resident Evil 2... ๐

It's the result of animations that aren't properly adjusted to each survivor face and body proportions, which is why their faces end up looking like this.
-
I've been playing for about three years, and I only recently realized that watching others during a chase really helps you understand the logic behind it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAmKZsTV4p8
I highly recommend watching this player chases, and pay attention to their decisions during the chase. Notice where they run after dropping a pallet, why they stay in corners behind walls before making a turn, and how they avoid staying in a loop for too long to avoid mind games with the Killer. -
My experience is quite similar to yours. I've noticed that the game create a certain mentality, especially for the side that feels more in control, which usually the Survivors. Games like this give players a sense of power and adrenaline (or frustration and burnout), and toxic players get too attached to that feeling. They don't make much sense, because they're too attached to a certain outcome or whatever benefits them. I also think the brutality of the game itself fuels some of the toxic comments toward Killers. Even when people know it's just a game, they still take it personally.
I remember coming back after the Mori rework and being confused by how sudden it was. I thought the Killer was mad at me because they didn't finish me on hook, only to realize later that it was a new change. It's easy to interpret the game based on how we think. So yeah, we really shouldn't take this game to heart. -
Probably when 2v8 comes out, if this is meant to be a complete collection for the event. But if not, some might come later, since skins are sometimes released two or three weeks apart.
-
If BHVR wants to keep the current "Skill" system but improve it, they could base it on performance.
For Survivor:
Chase duration
Gen efficiency (how much you helped repair generators during the match)
Altruism
Death (Punishing if dying at 5 gens). For Killer:
Hook (How many different survivors you hooked during the match)
Gen pressure (How many generators remain when you get X number of hooks). This is a general idea that might help prevent you from playing with players who are too dependent on others with better game sense (or not too altruistic). It could also encourage and reward Killers if we add more ideas to it.
About gen speed, I don't think that the time is an issue. The problem is the lack of early pressure for some Killers. Maybe for the first 90 seconds of a match, gens could repair X% slower to give Killers some time to find someone before one gen is close to 20%. -
It doesn't sound bad. But if the mode is based on lore, I think it would only work if the maps were also tied to the Survivors or Killer. The realm could be generated based on the majority of the characters in the trial.
I've always wanted to play in RPD with the whole RE group, so you can count me in if that ever happens. ๐
-
From the design, it looks like a human who was brutally killed; so much so that their body was completely broken, either by another person or by some unknown entity. Their back looks like a void that consumes people in order to become one.
If it has lore, I'd speculate that maybe this person was cursed, or is some kind of manifestation meant to take people away. The question is who created this monster in the first place. -
Claire Redfield is my favorite character in video games. But I enjoy playing the other RE characters too.
Nemesis is what inspired me to try Killer again. The zombies were exactly what I needed to make the match feel less lonely, and funny when they do something.
-
I remember hearing that creating a Killer can take around 11 months or more. Assuming BHVR have multiple Killers in development simultaneously to keep new content throughout the year consistently.

But the point of the thread is biological age. Otherwise they could just use a young girl from old egypt.
Okay, this goes back to what I said from the beginning, good visuals are good marketing. I used Vittorio as an example of a visually strong concept. If I'm right about consumer appeal, this could explain why there aren't older female survivors (yet).
-

Vittorio isnt even that old, he is roughly the same age as Wesker. Ash is older, Nick Cage depends and of course Bill.
Vittorio is centuries older than any other survivor if we look at his lore. Bill and Ash are a good argument, but they're iconic licensed characters who've both been through dangerous situations before.
-
Marketing is crucial. My guess is that if they ever make an older looking survivor, she'd need to look cool or at least have a strong lore to make her stand out.
I don't know how much realism matters behind the scenes, but I don't think an old woman would run with the same animations as the 20 year old survivors, unless she's meant to be athletic or not much older than 50.
I think Vittorio did well because they made him attractive. -
I remember a year or two ago when cheaters were attacking streamers, and using a VPN became a must to avoid getting doxxed. Could that be one of the reasons people still use VPNs today?
-
Same here. It's way more fun when we don't overthink everything.
-
I haven't brought an item into a match in over a year. It always ends up being a disadvantage since the Killer usually prepared to counter it. It's happened so often that I stopped. I actually find it more fun to loot random stuff or bring Pharmacy for myself or a teammate.

Since when is it non-directional again?
I had to double check because I thought patch 2.3.0 change was still the same, but it turns out that survivors within 24 meters can hear a directional cue. I haven't played against her in several months either, so that explains why I missed that, my bad.
-
Her phasing sound is now non-directional, so it's harder to tell exactly where she's coming from. The way to deal with her is to focus on positioning. I'd recommend watching videos from the Killer perspective to better understand how Spirit players think and plan their match.
Edit: I changed the video with one that shows examples of the chase.

The quality of life updates is really needed right now, either to shake up the meta or completely rework something.
I'm waiting for the next original chapter since the current one was a big letdown for me.
In the meantime I'm enjoying The Sims 2, just like the old days. -

How can they end chases fast? They have no strong chase power.
It's mostly about how you use their mobility. They can control their positioning during a chase and make certain loops unsafe.
-
I'd say Wraith and Dredge. They have great mobility and can end chases fast.
-
From the quality of life roadmap, it looks like we're getting an MMR rework in February. I've noticed that after a few rough games, I finally get a decent one, but then two survivors play too risky, trying to body block and save someone who isn't even on death hook, only to get downed and disconnect once the last survivor gets caught. It's one of those mistakes that has nothing to do with our decisions. Maybe MMR can't fix that, but hopefully it'll bring more variety or at least longer matches.
-
I've noticed that the Killer roster feels different depending on MMR. I think mine is around low to mid, since I faced Doctor, Dredge, and Xenomorph but I'm also seeing a lot of the newer Killers too.
-
It actually does make sense, because the reasoning behind anti tunneling and slugging is about preventing a situation where one side has no real chance to play the game. When killers tunnel or slug all match, that ends up being miserable for everyone except the killer.
It may not be a perfect system, but the goal is to make matches fairer for both sides. Survivors still can't actually fight killers like in Friday the 13th or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, where defense can completely flip the balance. In DBD, taunting at the exit is annoying, but it doesn't break the game like tunneling does.
-
I might give it a try too!

I cant say I've ever judged any killer perks but endgame builds (noed, blood warden, haywire, remember me, etc), which I usually see on terrible players who refuse to take the Ls they earned. The one thing I'm not judging on either side is NOT using meta perks. As killer, in particular, I'm so tried of seeing the same lithe/sprint burst/finesse combos. I mostly don't run meta perks on either side. They're so boring to me. It's refreshing when I see different and creative builds.
You really should try Wesker with an undetectable build. When his huge terror radius is gone you just pop out at people and it's hella funny. Both as survivor and killer I like to be comical. Don't take things serious. If you do terrible then open the door for the survivors and spin around in circles or do some other goofy thing, even if they were rude with the tainting and emoting. You're gonna lose anyway so why not have fun with it? It really helps flip things around when the tone is bad.
I appreciate your response, and it makes me happy that you can relate to the whole perks issue. I've heard that Wesker is really fun, and an undetectable build on him sounds scary. I'm curious to try that, or even some random ones. From my survivor games, I've gotten addicted to using random perk builds.
-
I used to play with friends who played the game regularly, just like I did back in the day. I haven't played since Dracula was released, but Solo gameplay was decent for the most part. Some days though, all the matches are miserable for different reasons.
I turn off the game when this happens. It's probably the MMR or time of day, where I end up matched with Killers who have very dominant playstyles, and Survivors who have no game sense or play as though they're alone in the lobby. -
Maybe my opinion will sound ridiculous, but if there are regional issues due to the license agreement or other factors, what's the point of including this license in the game in the first place? This could lead to serious problems if they don't address it.
-
They need evidence of cheating, and reports are more likely handled with manual reviews to investigate. Getting reported a lot won't result in an automatic ban.

Hi!
I tried this, putting the -dx11 into my steam launch options and it does help a bit, but dead by daylight is still laggy, Thank you for the help though!!You may have already tried some of these, but I would like to go over them just to be sure.
Try lowering the game graphics and turn off V-Sync or Anti-aliasing.
If you have recently been using apps that take up a lot of CPU, close them when the game is running. And lastly, check your disk space where the game is installed. Maybe you need to free some space.
If -dx11 helped, try -dx12 to check for any difference.I hope this helps! It seems like something is off with the game since the latest update, so you are not alone in this.
-
You may have to force the game to use DirectX 11.
Open Steam and go to Library.
Right click on Dead by Daylight and select Properties. In the general tab, you will see Launch Options.
Type -dx11 and run the game.I had the same problem, and this solution worked for me.
-
Yui, Renato, Jill and Rebecca.

By looking at the game in its early years, the original characters designed to be average people, and the base concept were survival with minimal resources. Along with the lore, the Entity's primary motivation is to manipulate and torment them. Making it nearly impossible for survivors to effectively defend themselves.
From a gameplay perspective, it requires balance and additional coding for each individual ability. Which is not easy to make and can cost extra money.
They may have taken this into account after or before they added characters like Bill Overbeck. And probably with no choice or by choice, the decided to leave the game as it was in the first place, and they gave them all the same mechanics.
You can look at this world as a 'hell' and not as a physical world that you can trust, because it is a world that changes and a world that is controlled by an Entity with supernatural powers. I don't think a policeman or a soldier can be himself in front of such a powerful being, they are pretty much helpless. -
If something makes someone feel uncomfortable, it's a valid thing to point out. Not justifying it ignores the reality that people have different reactions to what it's supposed to mean. If a number of people see it as a joke, that doesn't mean it's okay or acceptable.
I got an answer here, you can move on.

What was inappropriate about it?
You do understand that this is a video game and not real life, correct?
You are not really getting hooked either, it's all just a game.
I won't go into specifics, but regardless of how silly it may seem, it can be considered sexual harassment. I enjoy humor, but there are boundaries that should be respected.
-
In my opinion, the character lacks a lot of depth. From the whole story I understand that she is actually a competitive person who does not want to stand behind, and she killed the people who challenged her or was in her way.
She liked her father's Manga and was inspired by his creation...
-
Billy and Spirit.
I see them maybe once every few weeks. It will be refreshing to play with them again.
-
When I see one, I honestly don't care who they are. Most of the time I dodge their lobby. Only with a few I had good games with but most of them played weird.

Do you happen to have a link by chance? Iโd like to check that out
I can't find it unfortunately, it was posted a week ago I think.
-
I've seen it stated on Reddit that this is likely a bug with Spirit after using her power.
-
In my opinion, if one perk is overwhelmingly good for a single player, this might lead to less altruistic gameplay. I'm guessing this is a reason why the perks remain plain and boring.
Same with chase perks, It's tricky to buff these perks without making it overpowered in survivors' hands.
The Killer meta is pain to play against and if Survivors get new perk buffs, I'm afraid DBD will become the most annoying game to play.
-
I remember staying in a struggle phase to buy time for The killer to find them because you know, it's not fair. These days it doesn't happen to me anymore because of Kindred. In rare cases where there are at least 2 teammates who don't cooperate,ย I'm out, not wasting time.
-
I guess it's easy to come to that conclusion since BHVR cooperating with the players' requests for shirtless characters. I believe they are joking and at the same time, releasing cosmetics that are similar to what they asked for. Some of the new cosmetics go off track, maybe because they want something modern or cool. But BHVR are not the only game that adds unfitting cosmetics to their game. HSH for example had its classic horror aesthetics but the company added ridiculous cosmetics, like a maid dress, wings and so on. I've seen plenty of other games that add female characters with unrealistic body proportions that I don't need to explain here. The cosmetic in DBD is in a good spot, they try to keep the character authentic to their lore and they keep them messy and unclean fitting them to their survival state.
-
MMR is going to get some changes next patch - I believe. And it's going to be more fairer.
There's really no advice to give when it comes to tunneling and camping. Personally, I use Kindred in every single build. its information help everyone in these situations.
I think it's important to note that it's okay to be less altruistic. For example, if your friend has zero hooks and they are in a chase for awhile, better not run to take a hit and give the Killer free pressure - it's better to do a gen to speed things up. I'm a solo player and teamed up with 3 SWF so many times. Sometimes they are overly altruistic and it's easy 4k. It's okay to split up and give the Killer less information of your locations.
More tips you may already know but I'll share anyway; Start working on gens that are in the center of the map. Because if you work on gens in the corners of the map first, it's going to be very hard to defend gens late game.
Remember Killer perks, but keep in mind that there is a high chance that they are using Pain Resonance. Let go of a gen even if it's less then 20% progress.
If something makes it difficult for you, bring something with you that will give you an easier time. If gens are slow or many killers run so many slow-down perks, bring Prove Thyself with Aura reading to find teammate easier. If you want to avoid the chase, bring Lucky Break and Overcome. You can use it with Bite the Bullet and a medkit mid chase.
You can use a key to track the Killer position in a chase or to see teammate at all times.
One last thing, pay attention to the mistakes you make or the way you play. Maybe there is something you need to change.
I remember how my mistakes caused an unfortunate lost ๐ค
I hope I helped.
-
I had a number of games like this with a farming teammate. It's an absolutely horrible experience to get down over and over again because of someone else's bad play. I do not agree with what was said. Whoever made a mistake should bear the consequences and not the one who can't prevent them from saving them.
