Its actually quite smart.
If you look at the data, it shows that pig is actually one of the higher killers in terms of kill rate.
However, i'd bet that her kill rate in low mmr is significantly higher than her kill rate in high mmr. She probably does well against newer players, but poorly against top tier players. So the question to that is, why? Well the traps probably confuse newer players. They don't understand how they work, they can't figure out when they are active vs not, and they generally get headpopped way more often than they would in high mmr.
In high mmr, pig struggles heavily to get a down because her ambush is horrible in chase and survivors can easily "leave the loop" and it leads to hear not being good. On top of that, the traps don't really do much in terms of headpops, because the survivor knows what to do, but what they are good at is delaying the game.
When you take these things into account, it makes sense.
- You buff the ambush in small ways that is going to make her much better in high mmr. But in low mmr, adding 0.3 seconds on ambush duration, and 0.2 m/s faster movement speed on crouch and 0.3 seconds off of crouch time isn't going to really change anything. But in high mmr its a massive massive buff, just take a look at scott jund's videos on her. She is much more viable as an anti-loop now.
- You nerf the trap game a bit, this is going to nerf her significantly in low mmr, where the traps make a huge difference. But in high mmr games, it won't effect them really at all, because high mmr pigs aren't using traps to get kills, they are using them to slow the game down. So the pig doesn't care if she can't see the box auras, or if the timer is slightly longer. Because you aren't getting kills with traps, you are forcing that survivor into a "timeout" of sorts off of gens and healing, giving you more time to chase other survivors.
These are actually the types of changes that are the perfect example of good balance decisions that BHVR should be making. You buff bad killers in high mmr, while nerfing them in low mmr where they are much stronger.
that just makes pig, freddy 2.0.

you didn't. but talking nicely was never the issue was it?
-
you know... you both say "with the ambush buff a nerf to compensate is in order" or something like that...
but why? she could have gotten the buffs with no nerfs and it would have been perfectly justified. hell she could have got buffs to the rbt aswell. alongside a nerf that actually deals with the scream builds ofc.

quick and quiet and trail of torment.
quick and quiet constantly throws killers off during some loops where they lose eye sight and have to use sound. It actually does far more during a game than one might expect.
idk... trail of torment is cool. try equiping it to tier 3 myers. :) (or the new one from the ptb when it comes out)
-
there is nothing wrong with the 4%. save for the edge cases like have the 3rd to last survivor hooked and the last on the floor. so you wait until the 3rd attempts to kobe before hooking #4. which wastess everyone's time.
the issue, is that the 4% kills you when you fail. that part should be removed. hook time should always remains the same.
give a different punishment to someone who fails to kobe. maybe they run at 99% now, or fix gens with 95% efficiency.

I have now read it.
Like the concept, like the story. I bit confused on the power.
so you hit people with your hand, but they take no damage? and they have to fail a skill check or the hand just dies? also it can't down a survivor?
that seems underwhelming.
what exactly does a survivor being illuminated mean? is it an aura reveal?
Does the hand I leave as cameras count for my total 2? 2 is such a small number that missing out on having 1 to use as a camera(more like an alarm trap) is too much of a downside, I think.
what does the alert mode in dark eyes do?
the regular killer speed is 4.6 m/s.
killers like huntress have 4.4 m/s.
why did you decide on 4.3 m/s?

So from 12 searches to 16.
192 seconds of slowdown, roughly 400-450 with travel time. Closer to 7 minutes of slowdown as opposed to 5.
That is a very significant buff.
it is.
and I think it would make pig pretty good. but not one of the best killers.

Let me add to that a bit:
Make her crouch 4,0 m/s
Make her terror radius 24 meters
let me add a bit more.
the rbts don't have a 1-2-3-4 array on the box searches anymore, but a 2-3-3-4-4 array. (yes, she has 5 by default now)
the scream on the ambush happens at the halfway point of the bar, not the start.

Nah, that's a reply. That's a conversation. You provided anything just now.
Does a chase power mean something usable in chase or is it just stuff like blight, oni, wesker and billy that prevents W? Is there less than 10 chase powers in the game?
What was the point of you replying to me here? I see none.
Pig can do better at certain tiles compared to just going for m1 when using power, that's a chase power. Preventing W is exclusive to very few killers.
If you force a survivor to a tile you can go for ambush, if they W via the use of your head set you can use the extremely useful ctrl button to uncrouch at a rapid pace and then catch them hopefully before another tile(likely these days). You've just assumed that a survivor wing for a tile means they always get to the next one which is just incorrect.
You still get the same slowdown, you have a better power for chase, you just can't do something requiring 3 cells of the brain. Check those time stamps in my previous comments, reply for real or don't reply to me at all thanks!
I didn't realize you had no intent for conversation.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3657231#Comment_3657231
Chase power: has benefit at least at certain tiles or most tiles over just m1ing.
Video: it's not an otz video, it's a scott jund video and I provided time stamps for real examples of pigs power being useful. I wrote my entire comment before that video before viewing it.
the point in that reply? making a joke.
the same applies to trapper, so trapper has a chase power.
guess the real joke was always your definition of chase power.

The traps are EXTREMELY SLIGHTLY nerfed for ONE specific playstyle but the ambush and crouch is CONSIDERABLY buffed for ALL playstyles. This means it's a NET BUFF for pig.
Are we saying now that no part of killers are allowed to be nerfed full stop? Even if it should be changed or it's problematic?
You can say that you don't like the direction of the pig changes sure (which i strongly disagree with), but to claim this is a net nerf to pig is just wrong.
traps are nerfed for every single pig player not tunneling or using scream builds.
I am saying this was a terrible change.
I would have made it so the boxes searches can't be interrupted. so no more scream builds. the extra 30s do nothing but make the traps worse.

I'm sorry but its hardly a nerf most of the time. The number of pig boxes people need to search is completely UNCHANGED which means the amount of time survivors need to spend off gens running around is exactly the same. The only difference is they are less likely to die to some rng on big maps with the boxes spawning far away.
something being hardly a nerf, means it's a nerf. size or impact doesn't change the fact it's still a nerf. so, glad we agree that it's a nerf.
also means the survivor is more in control of which time they use. using their downtime on boxes is vastly less useful to me as the pig than time they can't afford to lose.
I hope I don't need to explain the concept that being forced into doing a thing is vastly different than doing it when the time is best for you...

How is it a nerf to people who use their traps normally? The slowdown it provides Is completely unchanged.
The ambush being stronger is a game changer because it makes even more loops stronger for pig and her ability to use the ambush.
traps last longer. means survivor have more time to take them off.
that means they can do more thing before taking them off without issue.
it's a nerf by default
-
@Withered8 said:
It's a nerf to one specific playstyle of pig which involves tunneling and stalking a person with a trap on them. Otherwise i don't see how its not buffs for pig?
no. you can do that playstyle exactly the same because that playstyle doesn't care about this.
it's a nerf to pigs who just use their traps normally. which is most of them.
and a buff to the ambush. the nerf is bigger than the buff.

Regardless of how strong it is even though it got a significant buff, pig does have a chase power. Your simply wrong. If you can force survivors to play differently then it's a chase power. I've watched my pig main friend play on the ptb several times now, Almost any filler tile it's more beneficial to use power over m1. Even tiles like LT and Short walls are extremely playable using pigs power. The only major generic tile that it doesn't work at is a long wall and just BARELY. Pig can literally triple back moonrush the tile side of a short wall now. The pig is using it wrong or at the wrong place if they don't atleast have the chance to get a hit at most tiles. Pig ambush at a lot of tiles is simply a better version of blights moon rush, straight up. While that blight tech isn't the best it's still viable and pigs is better.
Saying she doesn't have a chase power, idk skill issue. The extra distance she's got if she uses the power at the correct distance means Wing from a tile always results in a hit. She is no a tier killer, not even close but she does have a chase power.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3656077#Comment_3656077
So that means you think she has 0 chase power? That's just not true.
I saw this vid in my feed before starting to reply here, I decided to watch it before posting my reply. 8:30 is the perfect example of this killer having chase power. There is not a single safe option for that adam on a relatively strong McMillan filler tile with the pallet dropped, It's actually the second past Mac filler. 13:00 is the strong Mac filler tile. BLIGHT can barely play this tile. You can point out all the misplays in this video on the survivors part but if you have any interest in discussion you would realize at least some of the plays on the survivors part are actually the best course and they still lost to ambush.
trapper has a chase power now everybody.
just letting everyone know the standards for it are that low.

I understand your frustrations but here's the deal.
I know dbd is full of horror fanatics but that is irrelevant to balance in every possible way. The age old "make the killer feel like an unstoppable force" bit is so ignorant and a terrible argument if it can be called that. That example is more extreme but it's the same with pig traps actually killing survivors who are diligently trying to remove the traps.
The add-ons I wouldn't know about and that does suck but it's better long term.
You get a better chase power that actually is impactful in any way, if the pig player knows what they are doing they have way more opportunity to get a hit out of it instead of a survivor just wing away for free.
You still retain the same amount of slow down, you actual chase power gets in increase in power level of about 25% and you can't preform a cheese play style that only worked on survivors who didn't preform well.
If you remove the fact that you like saw, this is only a w for you. It's like if a wesker main complained about a person going back to 0 infection off hook instead of half, your still getting the slowdown the mechanic is intended for you just can't randomly cheese one or two people.
Pig players might like the head pops but survivors like actually getting chased instead of a the killer crouching behind them interrupting them on a box until they die, it's literally the only redeeming quality of survivor besides being able to play with friends.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3654343#Comment_3654343
What's the point in commenting if you not going to explicate, people seem to do that A ton on this forum.
gonna say this because it's getting really annoying to keep seeing it...
PIG DOES NOT HAVE A CHASE POWER!
it's a surprise attack that has a few applications during chase. but it's not a chase power. you are not supposed to use it in chase, we just found a way where it works to mindgame some loops, if the survivor doesn't leave the loop running the opposite direction when you start doing it.
you can use it just as much as you can use trapper's power during a chase. does trapper have a chase power now?
is "chase power" such a broad and therefore useless term that it loses any meaning?

Since I can't access the PTB... Is the dash useful OUTSIDE loops? If I crouch and ambush straight, would it cover more distance than just holding W for an M1?
1 second to crouch. 3.8 m/s
0.75 seconds to charge ambush. Fully stopped
2.35 seconds ambushing.
Ambush is 6.9 m/s. Not constant but I'll simplify.
So in 4.1 seconds you cover, 3.8 + 0 + 2.35*6.9 = 20 meters give or take.
4.1 seconds just running = 4.6*4.1 = 18.86 meters.
Add a lunge which is also 6.9 m/s and pretty sure you gain nothing from crouching and ambushing.

At loops, if you're going to ambush, you should take control if the pallet. Start the ambush at or near the pallet so youll hit the survivor before they get back around to it. Obviously if a survivor is camping a pallet and not looping, ambush isn't going to do anything, but they're also blowing through resources fast and making a giant deadzone. Deadzones against stealth killers in general are really bad for survivors. Get afew easy and fast pallets from them, then break off rather than allowing 1 survivor to show you the entire map.
believe me, I play enough pig to know the mindgames and when it's generaly good to ambush. which is not a lot of times.
I also know many times you lose to "survivor decided not to play the mindgame with you at all and just ran to the next loop".
this buff does not make her have a chase power. it's a stealth attack power with small applications in chase. it would need more substancial buffs before it can be actually effective in chase

I'm failing to understand how buffing her chase power doesn't fix exactly that. Or why your upset about an extra 30 seconds on RBTs that never touched a survivor head apparently.
because her power is not very good in chase. it's very situational and requires knowing where it can be used. and most of the times it can be used, it's beaten by a pallet drop or window vault.
I don't think it was buffed enough to compensate for the issues it currently has.

How about trying the changes before determining that the buff to her chase won't work. If the survivor is just predropping every semi-decent pallet rather than looping, they're going to run out of resources...
not really... depends on the map, the team and how efficient on gens they are.
you need the traps to go on people fast to get value from them. so you really want fast downs.
late game downs on pig is not nearly as good or meaningful.
