It is not exactly a nerf, per se. It would be impossible to add an anti 3-gen mechanic with gen tapping still around.
But you can still escape just fine, of course. The new Grim Embrace + DMS meta is the actual problem that has to be addressed, imho.
It's not a problem, survivors really complain about 18 extra seconds not doing gens when genrush is killing the game along with camping and tunneling.
-
Don't worry, gens are still going in 5-7 minutes, crazy how fast the complains started when the game is still a genrush meta and this is nowhere near enough to make most killers viable against good teams.
-
The community is so bad because the gameplay loop is toxic and unhealthy, no pun intended
-
European servers are filled with cheaters especially the eastern region.

I have no issue with that.
Then you go to state this - "Also survivors rush gens no matter if they're tunneled or not, that's not an excuse for genrush"
Are you serious? I have plenty of games where the killer is happy to tunnel at 5 or 4 gens. SO by your logic there is no excuse for tunnelling.
They both bad for the game and should be fixed.

"Why is no one talking about how busted gen speeds are?"
Really? I see constant posts about this subject.
"As killer are hard tunnel because that's the most efficient way to slow gens down."
What came first, the chicken or the egg? A lot of survivors players feel the need to crank those gens in order to avoid being tunneled out.
I rather have them create a viable anti tunneling mechanic but give survivors more objectives before they escape rather than this toxic for the game health tunneling and gen rush we have now.
Also survivors rush gens no matter if they're tunneled or not, that's not an excuse for genrush
-
Perk is not even that good, you have to hook all survivors for full value, paired with dms means you already lose 12 sec value from dms, and you have to sacrifice another perk slot for it, the perk is not that bad but as always survivor mains gotta exaggerate because they rather have killers weak so they can bully them.

I've always believed the true advantage of SWF is much better quality control over your teammates.
Sure near-instant comms can be strong, but overall knowing your mates builds, tendencies, strengths & weaknesses all matter more. You also have the benefit of knowing they won't leave you behind, and if they're doing challenges or dailies too. Solo Q gets none of that, and cannot realistically get it either outside of showing builds somewhere, prolly in-game.
They should also add that before you start a game, hope 2024 is gonna be the year of qol changes.

The game heavily favors those who bring in the stronger loadout. If you went against a Alch Ring/Crow Blight for example the game would of probably been pretty equal, if not slightly lean towards his favor because of how damn strong Blight is.
You missing the part you actually have to be good at the game to do good with Blight, OP stated they're not that good survivors and still won 10 games in a row bringing their strongest load out.
-
I had a game I lost against a gen rush full no mither lobby with resilience and prove deja vu, and all gens were done after I got like 4 hooks, killer experience is really exhausting and gives me anxiety knowing I'm in such a limited timer and way too much pressure because of it to be fun.
-

There are four survivors and one killer. So any complaining off the bat is going to be slanted towards favoring survivors, there are simply more of them. And the devs will cater to that side because there are more of them and it’s easier to sell them cosmetics.
Until there is no more killers and the game dies out because of it.

The game will never be balanced in the eye of average killers
They it should not be balanced in the eyes of the average survivor either or it will be favoritism.
There will always be survivors to play this game because it's the more chill less stressfull experience but there wont always be killers since it's such an exhausting and pressuring experience.
-
My biggest complaint with this game is matches being so fast I can't even enjoy it, it's either gen rush, survivors giving up, or get stomped, no middle ground.
-
No offense but this looks like survivor mains bias that never play killer and don't care about killer experience, imagine complaining gen tapping is not a thing anymore, I had survivors that tapped a gen in the middle of the chase and I couldn't stop kicking it again else would of lost a lot of distance.
-
It is an infinite against killer that lose bloodlust on those windows.
-
I have so many games as killer where I feel like gens fly even tho I pressure survivors and force them to heal to waste time not sitting on gens, have chases that last under 45 seconds at most and the gens still fly, I think this is both a subtle gen repair speed cheaters and the fact gens just go too fast in the current state of the game, cant have a proper game without stacking gen regression perks.
-
@Pulsar said:
I don't think you should be losing chase entirely, but I don't disagree that they are too strong.
The issue is that the rest of the map is kinda ass outside of the two houses.
I had a match on Haddonfield where a house spawned 3 windows, had no bamboozle and was playing an m1 killer, one of the house exits was not even clean, had clutter that made me go around even harder, it was pretty much impossible to catch up because I couldn't get bloodlust.

Legion isn't the worst, but they're bottom 5 for sure.
And there's no easy fix, as the problem is inherent to the power itself; so long as something as simple as the surv team splitting up (which is what good survs do anyway) essentially neuters their power, Legion will never be anything but a noob stomper, and really weak against most good surv teams.
Legion is literally the worst chase killer in the game, with 0 antiloop, killers that cant get downs are dead in the water and his mobility and information power is not even that good, not to mention its so easily counterable, they have a big terror radius and its so easy to run away from them, what's the point of knowing where survivors are when you cant get a down before all gens pop?
Compared to other killers like Doctor, that has a power that gives him a lot of information, he can consistently shut down loops, get downs and hits, and he has some really strong combos that wil outpressure survivors.
Bad mobility and information power with no ability to get downs, he's like 0.1/10 of what Blight is lol.

Then you're playing against survivors that allow you to do that. There is no shame in it. If the survivors are good enough, they can easily delay you for multiple gens, while you desperately try to get a down. Shift + W alone is enough to buy so much time against Myers. You don't have anything outside of chase and even in chase you're still not that big of a threat. On top of that, you have an incredibly weak early game (even for a M1 killer) and you also need to spend a lot of time just staring at people.
Overall his time management is pretty terrible and his power just doesn't make up for it. You are still a normal M1 killer for the most part. A slightly better lunge in tier 3 might help around some of the more unsafe structures but on safe tiles it won't help you. Something else that holds him back is the danger of running out of stalk on 1 or more survivors. Imagine you find Meg in a safe spot but stalk her to get your power. Then you find someone else and use your power on them. Repeat that process a few times and suddenly you have trouble entering tier 3 again.
No its not, its simply because having no terror radius is strong, much strong than whatever Legion has going for him will ever be.

It's kinda why I started getting into stealth killers more. That extra haste won't help with hit and run, especially against Skull Merchant's drones.
Exactly this, this is why I play stealth killers more but sadly cheaters also have wallhacks and completely counter that, but at least its very noticeable when they leave early againts a stealthy killer so easy report.

Same here with that survivor who cheated at the end of the game to save her teammates, it was a bad subtle cheater, running only genrush perks while having to extra speed perks like hope, adrenaline, spring burst, yet she was faster than me, worst kind of subtle cheaters are the ones that use a full genrush build to rush gens while using speed and wallhacks and probably extra gen speed as well, its just a horrible experience for killers because you cant even tell they're hacking unless you really force them to show it, we desperately need a replay system in this game before the playerbase drops too much, subtle cheaters are by far my biggest reason I feel like already quitting this game again.

Just out of curiosity, where would you rank Legion?
I think Legion is in a somewhat ok-ish spot but comparing him to other killers he doesn't get very high. Not a candidate for D-tier (that's Myers, Trapper and Freddy in that order). I just don't know if I'd put him above Clown (both have their strengths and weaknesses).
This is just wrong, I can easily get 3 or 4k with Myers and not even using his strong tombstone or infinite tier 3 addons, I just use a low terror radius tier 2 with sloppy and I can outpressure survivors, you cant do any of that on Legion, you just have to gigabrain every loop and get lucky to get fast downs that never happens.

One day, my friend, I'll convince you that this version of Freddy we have now isn't the weakest killer in the game.
But hopefully when that day comes Freddy will already have his old power back with some QoL improvements and his reworked power will be nothing more than a mere bad dream.
Because its not, with the current meta in the game, The Nightmare has acces to some pretty great perk combos combined with his best addons, he's not bottom tier for me, that place is reserve for current Legion which I struggle the most because good survivors just dumpster him since his power is so easily counterable.

Legion's a solid lower mid tier killer at their weakest.
Legion has a really effective chase power and produces a huge amount of slowdown and information when played effectively. While they'll rarely down anyone with their power alone that isn't really their goal. The goal is to constantly force survivors to mend or risk playing injured long term making it easier to down them overall. Much like Pig their power is designed to waste survivors' time rather than serve as a proper life or death threat. Regression has seen a lot of nerfs across the board over time and now certain killers don't really benefit all that much form stacking regression perks. Legion is one of those killers and I would suggest stacking healing speed penalties to draw out the length of time they have to commit to healing/mending.
That amount of time waste adds up to about the same amount of time you gain from stacked gen regression perks.
Too bad his frenzy doesn't last enough or isn't fast enough while in frenzy to catch up and have enough time to injure more than 1 survivors most of the times because they just split up, you chase a survivor with frenzy, frenzy runs out before you even get the hit, now you're stuck in a no power chase with a healthy survivor and you already lost a lot of pressure, rinse and repeat, he is the worst killer in the game, Trapper at least has the element of surprise with well placed traps.
@Xernoton said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3632568#Comment_3632568
We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
When you can't get a down with their power, then you play the purest form of M1 killer known to man. This is bad. Really bad. A good survivor can loop you for all eternity. The slowdown you produce by deep wounding everyone is not enough to compensate for that and neither is the information. Even when you give up multiple perk slots for chase perks (probably Bamboozle and PWYF), you still have a chase power that doesn't reach Clown's.
At their best, Legion are maybe somewhere in the middle. At their worst, they are weaker than Clown. Possibly weaker than Trapper. Both have an advantage in chase that should not be ignored.
His information and injuries are meaningless because of this, he has the weakest form of antiloops, which makes him the worst chase killer in the game, and his power doesn't even give him that much mobility and information if you dont get a hit, not to mention its so easily counterable, in a state of the game where survivors hold w and when they cant, they can just drop a pallet on your head and go next loop, his Feral Frenzy is always a few seconds shorts to give him any meaningfull pressure even if you use both his Feral Frenzy addons.
@LordGlint said:
Sounds like you are REALLY doing something wrong if you're chasing the same survivor for extended amounts of time as Legion. If someone is running you around the map from pallet to pallet... Stop chasing them. FF to their teammates and youll have injured survivors trying to work with less resources.
He doesn't need 4 gen regression perks... People get in the mindset that more gen regression perks=better. You are hampering other aspects when you do this. If you are consistently struggling to the point you have to vent on the forums about it, maybe that's a sign to change something.
Not doing this, but when I dont, most of the times, Frenzy runs out before I get another hit, so i'd say its just better to get an injury and try to get a down, which wastes a lot of time againts good survivors. This killer heavily relies on survivors mistakes to get free frenzy hits, if you dont, you'd be lucky to get 1k.
-
Had a game where I got my 4k robbed because of a subtle cheater(not so subtle in the end) I had 2 slugs after all gens we're done and there was only 1 injured survivor left and I knew exacter where she was, I was really close to her but all of a sudden she sped up faster than me and I couldn't catch up, she was forced to make her cheats more visible to save her teammates, how are we supposed to enjoy this game when subtle cheaters freely cheat with no punishment, and of course its always an epic game store cheater, making the game free for cheaters to grab accounts was the biggest mistake ever.

Pulsar is right that you just can't know if someone is cheating, most of the time. In which case you can't do anything, other than drive yourself nuts obsessing about it.
I have had a couple cases lately where I've been fairly confident survivors were cheating though. I don't normally question if a survivor is cheating but these stood out.
1. Playing as Plague, chasing a survivor who had not been hooked, was broken, and otherwise had no way of gaining Endurance besides the Styptic they had equipped (but could not use due to being broken), somehow managed to tank an M1 and go into deep wound. I suspect they 'subtle cheat' by having the Styptic on hand but not needing to gamble on actually using it.
2. A survivor who had zero line of sight on me while I was Undetectable managed to match my movements pefectly while looping on RPD. They behaved like a decent survivor on a regular loop on an outdoor map who could see my red stain, despite the fact there were floor-to-ceiling walls and I had no aura or stain. Approximately 6 attempts at mindgaming with random pauses thrown in failed abysmally.
And that is the problem, that you cant know for sure someone is cheating and the game really needs something like a replay system that you can just check the replay and see if said player was cheating or not.

" cheaters are not a problem when there's at least 1 in half my games and you cant even tell because they're all subtle cheaters"
So you can’t tell that they're cheating, but you just know that they are. Yeah, you're making massive leaps of logic here. Some players really are that good. Some people do get luck on their side.
There's no use in worrying yourself over it. There's nothing you, as a player, can do about people cheating. You have no power in that situation, only in how you react and perceive the world around you. If you believe everyone is cheating, you'll see cheaters everywhere.
I do find it extremely amusing that you say there's cheaters in at least half your games and then immediately say how you can't tell.
At 105% is noticeable, but when they have 1 or 2% only and paired with wallhacks, its impossible to tell for sure, you just know they loop perfectly and you're always 1 second short from catching up before they make it to a loop.

Windows of Opportunity and a bunch of experience can tremendously help with patching and connecting loops, hence why it's run so often. Always winning 50/50s depends entirely on the killer, if they can't mindgame properly, or/and are too predictable, why would experienced survivors not win 50/50s?
Running windows does not make you faster, and you do realize that experienced survivors make mistakes as well, cheaters that can see the killer at all times dont, you're closing in on almost defending cheaters while putting all the blame on killers pretty much saying just get better, experienced killers know there's no way they lose all the 50/50 and survivors have perfect pathing at all times so its obvious why veteran killers find if fishy when they go againts survivors that can do that while not being able to catch up easily
@HerInfernalMajesty said:
It’s so funny you bring this up! I was playing a game yesterday as Survivor. Now, if someone can help me understand if there are perks or anything that can explain this I would appreciate it because I don’t want to assume cheating (even though I have in the past…)
I forgot what Killer we were playing against. It might have been a Chucky. He tunnels out and kills one of my teammates so now there is only three of us. He hooks a second one. I have Kindred so I can see where my other teammate is. Chucky finds them and starts chasing them. So they are in chase and I get off the generator and go for the unhook.
Okay, three Survivors left right? One on hook, one in chase, and then me going for the unhook. Right before I get to the hook, a generator nowhere near the three of us gets completed. I just don’t understand how that is possible unless there are perks I am unaware of. It was like there was a fourth Survivor or the generator was repairing itself or something. Idk how it happened.
It’s strange because this is the second time this has happened to me. The first time I was playing Killer and it happened maybe 1-2 months ago? I don’t remember but I remember posting about it.
Anyways, like most people here say I’d like it to be innocent until proven guilty but at the same time weird things sure do happen sometimes. Maybe the Entity got bored and decided to make the repair lol. Idk.
Because there are all kinds of cheats available now and it has become a real problem that deters players from playing and ruins the fun left in the game.
Some cheaters can even make it seem like you're the one cheating, game absolutely needs a proper anticheat before it loses more players.
We saw that licensed chapters are not enough to bring players in and keep players, they seriously need to focus on making the game experience better, fov slider and 3 gen fix is good, but the anticamp mechanic is bad in the current state and needs to fix proxy camping as well, else it benefits the killer more.
BHVR biggest problem is the one that a lot of content creators touched on, they think they're always right and not listen to the playerbase enough which is literally the people who play the game and bring you money, if you're not gonna listen to those people that have a good ideea how to make the game better in general because they play the game, then on who?
Game needs better anticheat and a replay system to rewatch a survivor after the game ends, they really need to fix the spectate mode to not be so buggy if they're gonna do that.

I promise you it's probably not subtle cheaters.
And even if they are, who cares? There's nothing you can do about it, so there's no use getting worked up over it.
This is such a flawed mindset, defending BHVR wont make the game experience better but just feed them the ideea that everything is ok, which is not.
Its bewildering that you can say and gaslight people that cheaters are not a problem when there's at least 1 in half my games and you cant even tell because they're all subtle cheaters.
I wont argue further because I think people like you will defend anything if you're gonna defend cheaters and say they're not a problem when there's plenty of content creators too that complain and are not afraid to give BHVR constuctive criticism where its due.
Your comments are too infuriating and it feels like baiting for a warn at this point, and infuriating for the players in this community that actually want the game to get better instead of just stagnate and keep losing players, believe me when I say that people that give BHVR valid and constructive criticism love the game more because they want it to get better fixing the core issues than those who will defend them for anything and actually contributing to the echo chamber.

I can tell if someone's cheating by my frequent encounters with pre-nerf MfT which only provided 3% haste and yet it was noticeable by almost every player. 1% would definitely go unnoticed, but anything above 3% will. Wall hacks is a different story entirely and that's also hard to justifiably accuse someone of.
You can tell when they never lose the 50/50 and have perfect pathing from loop to loop.
-
@mikewelk said:
There's also a bunch of killers accusing survivors of cheating because they are as easy to read as a book and, therefore, predictable which equates to the survivor having supposed wall hacks. I think there's less subtle cheaters than people think there are by the amount of times I've been accused.
How can you even tell if a survivor is a 1% or 2% faster? You cant, and its noticeable when a survivor seems harder to catch up distance againts while they have nothing to make them faster.
That 1 or 2% is really enough to make a chase a lot longer than it should paired up with wallhack making the survivor know where to go and how to loop a killer never losing a 50/50. There is no way to know this and hackers abuse it because they cant be detected by the anticheat.
@Pulsar said:
There can be, but I generally don't worry about it.
There's no use tearing yourself up over it, you'll start seeing them everywhere.
I always assume they're just way better than me until proven otherwise, which can definitely happen.
This pretty much kills all the chase killers, basically the most fun part of the game is ruined by subtle cheaters.
Survivors having perfect predictions and doing gens faster and move a bit faster is noticeable but without a replay system catching cheaters is next to impossible without guessing.

It's worth pointing out that the other game modes are currently a survey question, they are no where on the roadmaps as of yet.
As for your idea: If we're talking of basically doing a new game, I could see it working, but I think it would be too difficult to have as just a variation of the current system. It would switch around the gameplay loop a lot with survivors constantly on the move which would make things like aura reading much more valuable to the killer.
What I'd Like: I like the idea of 5 v 5 even though I don't think it fits the theme it is by default a balanced game between sides because of equal access. When I first read the description it sound like a Capture the Flag type gameplay where each side has one side of the map to defend, while they have another side to attack. It sounds like 5v5 will actually be all on one map with some form of fight for gen control. I'd be interested in a clear cut sides where each side has half of the map to defend (and if I was talking crazy because I don't think the system would support it, two maps joined together to create a symmetrical division).
I like that too, but the lobbies would take too much to fill, I want the game mode to be kept as a 1v4, sometimes I wanna play solo, sometimes I wanna play with friends, that's why dbd works.

What other game modes do you think would fit dead by daylight?

Do the gen to 50%
Use the tape to disable the TV
Finish the gen
If all 4 survivors do this, pretty much all TVs are disabled on the map but well... you have tested everything right ? :)

Funny is all your counterplay works only if survivor screws up. Yeah, perk is not good if survivor is bad. Who would have thought....

I'm not running crazy addons or perks. I'm not tunneling at gen 5, face camping or proxy camping and I'm getting a 65% kill rate and 60% win rate.
Look at the survivor escape rate of 32.50%. That is not DBD holding survivor hands, but holding killer hands.
Come again when you go againts mft squads.

Well I'm glad somebody said it, but you do know saying anything in support of killers on this forum is an open invitation to be insulted and gaslit nonstop right?
The reality is killers are second class citizens, and bhvr balances the game as if that were the case. I suspect it's going to be a long time before any killer besides blight, nurse or Wesker is even remotely playable in this boring binary genrush meta.
I uninstalled anyway, its honestly infuriating what the state of the game is and how obvious it is BHVR will always favor survivors, onto the next game.

If devs are very survivor sided, it means only 1 thing. You play survivor too little. The weakest role in whole game right now is soloQ. It's even worse then weak M1 killers.
Also - not counting endurance part, huge number of killers can't even tell those 3% are in game. That's how influential the perk is. Even though there are a lot of complaints, it's just way weaker then lithe/sprint that get you totally out of deadzone compared to MfT that potentially prolongs the chase by a few milliseconds.
And I do play mainly no-mobility killers if you feel the need to ask.
Lol at the comparison, you do understand made for this is not an exhaustion perk right?

Just quit the game, its now worth it at this point.

I also doubt it was hacking, the natural completion speed is ridiculous at the moment.
Yeah, i'm gonna quit this game for good this time, and play another asym game where I actually have fun, I lost all hope with proper balance in this game.

Bad content is subjective, just because you dont like something doesnt mean others share the same opinion
Not all, but the vast majority hated the last 2 chapters.

Yknow people keep saying this but it can be disproved SO easily with what we got for Fall of 2022.
Project W's midchapter didn't nec have much content. Even if we just received probably one of the most well received chapters in DbD's history, people were already expressing their concerns about the lack of content in the upcoming mid chapter since we knew from the get go the Finisher Mori wasnt going to make it to live in its current itteration.
Then came Forged in Fog which was a pretty poorly received chapter (still is) and it came with literally nothing else. Barely anybody played The Knight due to how buggy he was and he just didnt have a playstyle many enjoyed.
There was a "content drought" for the large majority of the playerbase for roughly 3 months. For most, that was enough to rile them up.
They will kill their own game if they release bad content just for the sake of releasing it.
This is not the way.

The only time I consider shutting the game off for good is if I get multiple Knight matches in a row. I cannot stand going against this killer. It's truly mind numbing gameplay. Skull merchant isn't even that bad.
Every single Skull Merchant game is the same gen camp, drags the game forever and you cant do anything about it.

The players wouldn't be as toxic if the game was balanced and would not create the toxic scenarios in the first place.

Endgame is when gates are powered.
And gates are powered the moment of last gen completion.
My bad then, I thought its when gates are actually powered.
