I mean, they didn't have to change the perk names for the Resident Evil perks when making them on mobile:

There wasn't a reason for the stranger things perk names to be changed when the dlc was pulled, so can we keep the perk names the same since people like myself, have gotten used to their current names?
Unless you legally have to change them, can you keep them the same?

Buggybug,
Just click continue then.

For Legion's feral Frenzy, just camp a pallet. Wait till they go in for the attack before dropping it. People rescuing from cages is just what happens in dbd, since people think "Someone else will save them." The Latency issue is purely an internet one since I haven't had any problems with it. As for RPD, I'd say it's fine. Outdoor maps give ranged killers an advantage. I honestly prefer 2v8 to Chaos Shuffle.

Except it doesn't work this way, since the devs have already stated they want to keep legacy skins exclusive (not literally, just that they won't bring them back) and have no intention of bringing them back. And you/some other people want them to change their minds. Also yes, I know about the fact how they made some old event cosmetics meaningless by giving them to everyone, I mentioned this. Doesn't mean they will ruin legacy skins as well.
Ruin them for who? Cheaters/cheated accounts?

If you weren't playing the game when they were available, why should you deserve to have the skins now? Like someone else in the thread said, you can not always have what you want. They already ruined some old event cosmetics some years back by making them available to everyone.
Let me use one of your statements against you. Just because you want it to stay exclusive, doesn't mean you get what you want.

The first statement could be made about the event cosmetics, and getting to P100 would be the equivalent to the old grind.
There's also this discussion that points out the blatant hypocrisy with the reasoning behind the arguments against bringing legacy back:

Weird. Complain about no exclusivity and then ask for an exclusive that is in place to be released. Weird. LOL!
Did you read the post at all? If we're doing away with exclusivity, might as make Legacy a reward for P100 a non licensed character.

I'm talking about the 2016 web. Believe me, it was a real nightmare for me. To knock out all the legacy, you would literally have to play DBD 24/7. Grinding without cakes, blood moons and other blood point buffs, when even offerings in one category were not 100 percent. If you are ready to go the same way as people in 2016, then yes, you can take legacy. If your answer is no. Please leave people with what little is left in their inventory.
Unfortunately, I do not have the 2019 web, but I will present you with the 2020 web.

I don't think you understand how storage space works eitherLOL. If you really believe that, it's not my position or duty to change your mind. All I will do in response is smile and look at all the IT certifications I have hanging on my wall. I have reduced AWS costs for my organization IRL. Over time, even small costs add up. There is not much difference between a collection of logs I am legally required to maintain and an outfit in a video game.
As BHVR is learning right now with the community, it is important to think long term and to examine what ghosts are in the closet.

I mean this with a lot of respect, but … what value? These cosmetics are largely unused and are relatively unknown. If you showed a sample Legacy outfit to a group of players, how many would actually know what it means and appreciate it? There is a difference between people who would be upset by the change … and people who are upset by the change on behalf of other people.
That's probably the case. Actual legacy skin players on the forums, have wanted them to come back.

I didn't need to. The current legacy skins would lose their "value" or "wow" effect from them being so rare if you'd just be able to get them by reaching P100. New skins, that's a different story.
The same could be applied to the event stuff, as legacy was just another event thing.

I don't think it even makes sense, like, logically to rerelease them for money.
Legacy is one pattern applied to each character at the time, I doubt it took too much effort to make. I don't think you understand how storage space works either, Legacy is probably only a few megabytes at most across all characters.
The only real value Legacy has is the exclusivity. It's actually kind of ugly overall imo, especially after all the changes made to the pattern itself. If you rerelease it for money, then it loses its main draw. It'd become just another default reskin. If you rerelease it as a P100 reward, BHVR make no money either, and it'd just upset a bunch of veteran players anyway.
The reputation hit wouldn't be worth it, especially considering that the only thing giving Legacy any sort of status is the fact that it's, well, legacy.

You both underestimate the power of a dollar that was torn slightly, soaked in the lagoon, and kissed with coral blue #2 semigloss lipstick. The only thing holding the idea back is that legendary cosmetics would need to be created for the new original characters. BHVR invested time, effort, and money into making those cosmetics — and it costs BHVR money because it takes storage space. It makes no sense to me why players should feel entitled to have limited time cosmetics for years and years and years and years. Anyone who rightfully earned them probably feels scared to use them out of fear of being falsely accused of cheating.
Exactly. What reason is there not to do it, that can't be applied to everything else that was exclusive.

With that out of the way, i have a few points to make here about your take.
- It sounds like you want characters to look more generic and stereotypical, while there's nothing wrong with wanting that, it is not a requirement to look that way and imo, it is just rather uninspiring and unoriginal to go for that.
- The formal attire getup sounds more like a secret agent thing than a codebreaker.
- Both Haddie and Jonah already have cosmetics that are close to what you're describing, which is Jonah's Hardboiled outfit + Cyber Investigator outfit and Haddie's Ghost Hunter outfit.
- No. I want their outfits to match their backgrounds. Behavior has made every other character's outfit match their background. For example: The Twins wear raggedy and dirty clothes to indicate that they're peasants from the 17th century. Yui has multiple outfits referencing the fact that she's a street racer. Meg Thompson wears athletic clothing in a lot of outfits to reference her background of being an athlete. I just want cosmetics that reference Houndmaster's background of being a pirate. I don't expect a tricorn, but something a straw hat, which was very common back then.
- You're thinking of black and white suits. When I say formal attire, I'm talking about the kind that actual codebreakers wore, like this:
- My apologies for forgetting about those outfits.
I just want Houndmaster's outfits to match her background instead of the Victorian era.
-
Camera on her back as a part of a cosmetic. Have her cosmetics include the kind of equipment that actual ghost hunters have.
-

I disagree with your view on Houndmaster as the clothes are not that off for a pirate but def agree for Haddie and Jonah. NONE of their cosmetics give me even slight pirate vibes
Haddie is supposed to be a monster/ghost hunter but none of her cosmetics hint towards that. And Jonah is supposed to be a CIA Code breaker but none of his cosmetics hint towards that.

That's not true at all, well for me. I just want to know where I sit. I still seem to be matched with a lot of new players. As I mention my escape rate is around 40% so is matchmaking broken or am I not gaining MMR?
Yes.
-
It can't be abused because you can't drop below a bracket that you're at due to a safety net. There is no possibility to intentional derank.
-
@jesterkind said:
I don't think it's a good idea, personally.
The way I see it, the reasons people would want to see their MMR number fall into three broad camps, with only two being particularly relevant.
The first is simple idle curiosity. The kind of person who'd see the MMR number, go "huh, neat", and then basically ignore it because they know it doesn't really matter for any practical purpose. I think it's fair to generally set this camp aside because they generally aren't the ones actively asking for MMR, and because, y'know, idle curiosity isn't necessarily a compelling reason all on its own.
The second is those who want to treat their MMR like a progression system. They know it rates their skill (though they may misunderstand what that means), they know they want to get better, ergo, they should try and make their MMR number go up. Since the MMR system isn't designed to be treated this way, this would really just reinforce bad habits that already exist- winning by any cost and never improving the fundamentals, leading to being much more adversely affected if any of the stuff you're leaning on gets nerfed or changed.
This alone isn't a huge reason not to show MMR, but it also means it can't be a reason to pursue it either. The thing people think they'd get wouldn't manifest; what they'd actually get would be useless at best, harmful at worst.
The third is the worst example, those who think it'd be useful for discussions. We can already see some individuals in this thread making this argument - that people with higher MMR would necessarily have better credibility in debates, and should be listened to more than those with lower MMR.
This, point blank, is just wrong. MMR flat out doesn't measure anything related to someone's arguments in a debate, and it isn't meant to. It doesn't measure their knowledge of the game as a whole, it doesn't measure their ability to correctly predict the outcomes of suggested changes, it doesn't measure their knowledge of game design as a whole or DBD's design philosophy in particular- hell, MMR doesn't even measure someone's individual skill with the fundamentals of the game, because it isn't meant to, that isn't the skill being measured.
Again, these outcomes probably wouldn't be that much worse than what we already have… but they would just be worse with no real upside, in my opinion.
Players who have really high mmr tend to have a great understanding of their killer or the killers they go against. Look at OTZSdarva, Coconutrts, Lilith Omen, etc. They have a great understanding of the game and it's mechanics. They're the ones that BHVR listen to the most when it comes to changes. OTZ's got them to finally buff Trapper.

They listen to a select group of players we don't know the full identities of, which is their player consultants. Becuase we don't know their full identities we can't make assumptions about who they are - the only one I know specifically of is that Hens was part of the program, but he 50/50s both roles, so Oputeeva claiming its just this inner circle of Killer mains is completely unfounded.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3873859#Comment_3873859
If a player has a 40% winrate, they should be in whatever MMR they were in prior to getting that winrate. If a player is losing the vast majority of their games, they should be losing MMR. So my question is this - how is a 15% winrate player staying in high mmr, exactly?
Dataminers found out that there are safety nets for each mmr bracket, so if you lose a lot of your matches(intentionally or otherwise), you won't go down a bracket.
https://youtu.be/x1vSY0qQe0Y?si=XP0QEkihWJes3a_n11:52 Coconutrts goes over the skill brackets that dataminers found.

I'm a survivor main. Official BHVR stats put me at ~66/33 survivor/killer, my own put me at almost exactly 65/35 but in a shorter timeframe.
And my Solo escape rate is 39%, which is barely shy of BHVR's last reported stats showing that solo survivors escape just above 40% of the time. 15%, as I said prior, is a huge outlier.
I disagree with OPs post for reasons I've laid out with others. I'm simply responding to you because there's an obvious cycle of content to push which is personal improvement, hence my suggestion to record matches. But I see now you weren't looking for suggestions on what to spend time pursuing in DBD.
First of all, dang. I didn't expect to see fighting going on in this post. And second, BHVR already listens to the top players only. As for people that would want to smurf, they already made a safety net so you can't go from very high mmr to high mmr and etc. The only way they can smurf, is through making a new account.

While I see why you'd make that assumption I don't believe that that is the entire truth. I believe BHVR is trying to find a balance where high MMR players as well as low MMR players can have fun with the game. And this is extremely difficult in the particular case of Dead by Daylight.
And my observation here is that DBD as it is, is many different things to different people and therefore there are many different ideas on how the game should be.
As DBD is now and in particular public lobby matches, to which I count SoloQ as a substantial part, you will essentially get 5 People who think about the Game in a completely different way. When you take for example Counter Strike: Source, the gameplay - the representation - the marketing of it which shapes the expectation with which you go into the game is rather clearly defined. This is not the case for Dead by Daylight.
In order to really satisfy the majority of players you essentially have to treat the game in separate ways. This is not an easy task for a studio like BHVR, especially given the speed at which they develop the game and the focus they have.
In my opinion the Custom Match feature should have been expanded upon massively with an ingame feature to host game modes and variations that you can join where certain rules are more clearly defined.
Would that split the playerbase? Yes but at this point you have to bite the bullet, because the playerbase is already split and without an outlet it will continue to eat itself up.
Now I am getting quite offtopic with this and I think it would be best to make a new thread for this, but the gist of it is that the MMR for SoloQ serves its own purpose, it is not enough to keep DBD growing at the speed that it could actually grow. It is clear that there is a high demand for this game and a lot of people would dearly love to love this game, it's sad that BHVR is taking it into this direction. I really do believe they are making their lives unnecessarily difficult.
I think you should turn your comment into a discussion.
