If I see 4 people pop in at once, all with tool boxes and P3, I'm dodging. I'd rather avoid the headache. I'm an alright killer, but I know when I see that kind of loadout I'm gonna have a bad time lol.
I still feel like it’s worth trying to push yourself for a win, like ok challenge accepted. I’ll probably get salty after I lose but I’ll still give it a crack.

Maybe I should clarify what I mean by satisfying.
I don't mean "I like this result", because that wouldn't be much of a loss. But rather, I'm talking about a loss where despite not getting the result you wanted, the way you loss'ed was such that you still enjoyed the process anyways.
For example I've had a game in MTG where my opponent pulled off a crazy series of combo's in order to get infinite mana, draw his entire deck, play laboratory maniac (which makes him win if he draws a card with an empty deck) and then drew a card and won.
Did I lose? Yes. Did I stand a chance even? Absolutely not. Was it satisfying? Heck yes. When you lose to something super impressive it can wow you in a way that just makes you go "wow you can do that!?" and that makes the outcome satisfying, even if not successful.
Or maybe you make a mistake and learn from it thus improving your gameplay forever. Or maybe you lost but it was such a close call that the tension alone made it worth it.
There are a lot of scenarios like it, and of course everyone is different and prefers different things (just look at the variety of responses in this thread), but I wouldn't just count out the idea entirely.
Idk, DBD has a different formula from most games that makes it a lot less enjoyable when you lose. I consider a loss four people escaping when I’m killer so it means I played like ass, or they’re just SWF gods.
Very rarely do I not get a bit of salt at a loss like that.

It's not even about getting better. That's a poor excuse to justify bad game design. I've seen Otz, Zubat, Tru3, Aaronplays, etc. lose 2 - 3 gens before getting a hook and sometimes losing a game downing everyone in 30 seconds or less. Killers need a way to gauge how to properly face a team of survivors since they have 1/4 of the resources survs have.
Edit: typo
Keep in mind that not every SWF is good though; when I play SWF with my friends we get dodged a lot and trust me they’re hot garbage.
I get annoyed as killer versing a solid team too but dodging isn’t the answer.
-
I’d say Rins rather respected women, so much so he spared them from the pain of living.

Why bother playing when you have almost no chance of winning?
Not defending lobby dodging here just giving an explanation for why it's not an isolated issue and it's rooted in much more complex balance issues with the game.
No one wants to vs a 4 man blendette group with toolboxes.
Yeah but you’re never gonna get better if you don’t try.
-
Satisfying match
Losing
Pick one
-
Has trapper ever been updated?
-
Never understood lobby dodging, why bother searching without the intention of playing regardless of what you’re facing.
-
I think as ranks get higher gen skill checks should get smaller, like overcharge size. Might help a bit.
-
As a killer it’s boring as F to verse a bunch of immersed players. Only so many times I can check untouched gens before I get bored.

That is stupid annoying as nurse. I feel like they need to make the blink landing indicator as basekit for her.
On console at least, she’s so painful sometimes. Very map dependant.
-
Had a game last night as Nurse where I’d go to blink upstairs on Asylum, only for it to take me to the basement, even tho I was looking up.
Cost me the game, super annoying.

The tell I feel is pretty obvious. Once you see someone go down from healthy once, you know she's using it. Ideally you don't want to get hit by a hatchet even if she's not using it, so it's not really a "too little too late" situation.
Anyway, I'd be totally okay with that personally. The most interesting idea I've heard was to make long range hatchets (>24m or 32m) instantly down people. That way it stays powerful, but requires a lot more skill to use and has way more counterplay. What do y'all have in mind?
Perhaps simply make the hatchets have a red glow, with a slightly longer wind up time.
Slight nerf and big tell.

I understand about the gatekeeping thing, which is why I suggested to the first guy that he ease up a little. He's not wrong about the fact that there is no such thing as toxic game mechanics, though, and allowing that idea to be perpetuated is only hurting the community in the long run.
If we’re gonna dive into the specifics of what’s toxic, then at its core none of the mechanics of the game are ‘toxic’ on their own. But they can certainly be used to create toxic gameplay for one side or the other.
4 flashlights are fine, but 4 players following the killer around and griefing them with flashlights? That can be toxic.
Same goes for a few other items and perks etc, that’s the point I’m trying to discuss. Doesn’t mean I dislike them or want them removed.

You're not wrong, but he was probably due a bit more respect than you gave him there.
I appreciate the thought but his words don’t bother me in the slightest, and I still completely disagree.
Just because he doesn’t view something as toxic doesn’t mean it isn’t.
I could debate this all day but I will never change my opinion and he won’t change his, and that’s fine.

It's not a point of view. It's a fact. It's not rationally or logically deniable, and can not be argued with any substance. At all. Anyone who doesn't believe this is believing something that is incorrect. It's not up for debate, nor is it a matter of opinion. Period.
Well I completely disagree, so..
-
@The_Second_Coming said:
The answer is no. No function of the game is toxic. No addon is toxic. No item is toxic. No perk is toxic. No emote is toxic.
I like your point of view, unfortunately few share it.

I just did the sacrifice 2 survivors with NOED challenge.. I feel bad..
I need to dominate the match, and let them finish the last gen by being friendly, and betray and slug all survivors with NOED and then open the exit gate myself... I need to say it's not fun experience from survivors side... or from my side as well
Haha that’s brutal, blame the challenges tho..
-
@Venoxxie said:
They're not toxic, you're just playing the game how it's intended. Hook people with MS in basement for example, hell, even if you didn't have MS and that challenge you're still allowed to hook in the basement.
People think to have fun, they need to win. They need to not be 'bullied' by anything to have fun. If DS, Flashlights, good loopers, basement hookers, etc are in their game then they feel they can't win and won't have fun. They just need to suck it up. They're probably doing all those same challenges, so they're also hypocrites.
Some of them are easier than I initially thought too...
It’s not til tier 3 that I’ve started getting salty messages for pushing the challenges, but ultimately you’re right. People don’t like losing and someone’s gotta lose.
Some of them are frustrating though..
-
Much healthier for the game now, requires a bit more talent to make use of without ripping off the killers efforts.

Hag.
Outsmarting survivors through the clever use of traps never gets old.
It's possible to have some pretty crazy plays if you can think ahead fast enough :)
At 10:20 the magic happens
Some pretty sweet Hag gameplay, I’ll have to borrow some of those trap placements..
-
Lol I’ve only started playing him again recently, must admit he’s pretty underrated.
-
Yeah between her and Nurse I’d say, especially on console.
-
Ah this nonsense again. Thing is though 4 survivors can have 4 different experiences in the same game, where as the killer has one.
Some may escape and some may die, some consider pipping and dying a win while some consider escaping and safety pipping a loss.
The data doesn’t really give convincing evidence that killers are ‘winning’ 76% of their matches.

Michael for me. Because you're playing a long game with Myers building up your stalk. And its also a strategic process, because if you're smart with the boogeyman you'll bring it to the edge and have that tier 3 ready to pop at the most opportune time.
Smart Myers players also don't max stalk the first survivor they see. They'll leave enough so they can get more off that survivor later in the match. There's four survivors in the match. Use them all, and don't put yourself in the situation where you run into one later and find you've no stalk left on them.
This is all very true, I like Myers a lot because of how versatile his builds can be. Infinite tier 3 or scratched mirror, tombstone etc.
One of the best designed killers imo.

Trapper - There are few things better than watching a teabagging survivor turn and *snap!* right into a trap. I snicker every time.
I love when multiple people get trapped at the same time, the panic grows 😂

I find Ghostface to be extremely satisfying to play as. The feeling when you stalk someone and oneshot them without them even noticing you is so nice. You constantly jumpscare people and you see the panic in their movement. This is pure gold for me
Yeah I’d agree with GF being one of my faves, I love sneaking up on a gen and watching one guy bail and the other one stay there all confused. Hilarious
-
I think it’s fine where it is. It only does one objective so it should only pay out in that objective.
-
Probably Ghostface or Iridescent Hatchets, or legion again just for giggles.

Im not a fan of killer nerfs either but Forever Freddy needed to go, straight up aids to play against.

I agree with all but Billy. I absolutely love playing Billy on console. And anytime I play him on PC, I plug in a controller. He just seems more optimized for controller play.
As for the others... Yeah, it's a chore to play them.
I find the flick easier on Pc, he certainly isn’t as bad as the others.
-
Killers really aren’t optimal for console are they? Nurse, huntress, billy and now Oni all struggle with controls compared to PC.

A slight speed boost while loosing the ability to gain stacks on certain perks whilst using their ability? Plus a buff to mending rendering their ability even further useless?
Youre straight up wrong dude.

The very concept of some of these killers is strong. People in high ranks that use a killer and can't secure kills obviously don't know how to play said killer very well. While yes, some killers do need buffs/reworks, some are fine where they are. People that play them just don't know how to play them well.
Most don’t have the actual tools to catch survivors AND down them. Where as killers like Billy and Spirit have both, the others can only do one.

Wraith literally gets increased movement speed, no terror radius, and near invisibility with his power. How is this weak?
LF gets to instadown survivors with his chainsaw. Not weak at all.
Legion is a God at buying time by forcing survivors to mend and heal. That's two health states they have to heal.
The Plague could use a buff or two yeah.
The pig gets a 0 terror radius, lunge attack, and takes a survivor out of the game for a bit by giving them a reverse bear trap.
I see many people, even in red ranks, step in trapper traps these days. It could take anywhere from 1 try to 7 tries to get out of a trap AND the trap leaves you injured if you do manage to get out.
The demogorgon is kind of weak I agree.
Myers being weak is a joke. I'm not even going to try to explain this one.
You mostly just listed their abilities and assume that means they’re strong. All of these killers are very weak in the higher ranks. Myers is fine imo tho.
-
What are you talking about, legion got buffed a few weeks ago 😂
/sarcasm
-
Eh just use tiles more efficiently, loops are already strong and enough.
If I know I’m gonna slow vault something I’ll just bait it or throw the pallet.
-
Search solo survivor with optimistic attitude.
-
Devs don’t give a ######### about trapper, wasting your time people.
-
Survivors can rush their objective, the killer can’t.

Most killer rarely care about BP. They already earn the most in a match, then combine that with BBQ and a BP offering, they can easily rack up like 80-100k in a match
Unless the killer has unlocked every perk on every killer then there’s always a reason to get BP; even to spend on survivors.
Stacking with BBQ and earning that much would be if they manage to defeat the team, in which case I’d say they’ve earned it.
