  • I wanted to go as DbD's version of Ghostface or the Legion for Halloween last year. Still wanna cosplay them and possibly Pyramid Head too.

  • The counter to Keys is Franklin's Demise or hooking them first.

So this isn’t a thread to complain about NOED as I personally don’t see the issue with it, I just have a question. Recently I’ve faced a Michael, Ghostface and Billy who were all rank 1 that had NOED. Which confused me a little. Why would a killer that has the ability to one-hit down a survivor want to use NOED? Is that not a waste of a perk slot? I just want to know if anybody here runs NOED on any of these killers as I’m honestly baffled as to why.

It's probably because their powers take time to reach that level. Hillbilly has tank controls while using his chainsaw, Myers and Ghostface need to stalk Survivors to a certain degree to get the Exposed status, etc. NOED just makes it so they don't need to bother with their power and just hit the attack button.

  • Could be hacker or they used some kind of exploit to glitch through the gates. EGC didn't start so the Exit Gates didn't actually open.

  • If you're a Killer Main, people get mad if you try to talk about changing Survivor Perks or items or something that it makes harder for them to complete their objective.

If you're a Survivor Main, people get mad if you try to talk about changing Killer Perks or Powers or something that makes it harder for them to hunt down and kill Survivors.

It's really just "You don't know what it's like in my role, so you can't talk about changing something about it"

  • That's really toxic. GG.

In all seriousness, having a perk that allows hooked Survivors stun Killers within range would be an interesting one. And it may reduce camping Killers. Though knowing this community, it'd be used by toxic people.

  • For me, I count a 'win' as two kills minimum as Killer. Whether it's them DCing or doing a Hook Suicide, if they're not in the match anymore it's a win to me.

If I'm playing solo Survivor, it's me escaping obviously. If I'm playing with friends it'll be at least one of us escaping. This doesn't happen a whole lot.

  • I made a slugging build with Pyramid Head once and I was garbo at it. So I stopped. It's really not a good idea unless you're playing with a character who can insta-down people or keep them from getting up.

  • Just sit on the other end of the map. If they wanna risk the EGC just to be jerks and taunt you, they can. Look around the Hatch if you want too. This is what I do if I get Survivors like this.

  • I saw someone on the forums recently say it be reduced detection on Killers with Undetectable. Like, Ghostface with an active Shroud triggers Spine Chill at 26 meters instead of 36 meters. I think something like this would be a good change to Spine Chill for stealth Killers. Maybe an even range like 12 or 16 meters, but it shouldn't give Survivors that much time to react to a stealth Killer.

  • It's more or less fine how it is in my mind. I like Scott Jund's suggestion that if a Survivor starts healing or working on a gen it should turn off. That way Survivors can't use it aggressively. It'd be a bit of a nerf, but not a whole lot.

  • If there are other people in the match, I'll still hook them because they'll most likely be saved. Usually when a Survivor stops struggling it's because they've given up. I won't always give them the hatch, it kinda depends on how they did as a team and if I feel like I had fun.

  • Yeah, matchmaking is broken right now. You'll get Red Ranks even if you're a Rank 20 Killer. They're making a new system and are going to introduce it at some point?

I wanna say, with Trails of Torment, you get Undetectable. It does what it sounds like, the Survivors can't see you. You have no Terror Radius, Red Stain and they can't see you with any aura reading abilities. You are still visible, but Survivors have no way to track you with the exception of actually seeing you or with perks like Spine Chill, which only tells you when you're looking at them within a certain distance.

If you power level certain Killers (or get them in the Shrine of Secrets in the store) you can get perks that make repairing gens harder. Like Ruin, Corrupt Intervention, etc.

With Second Chance perks, both sides need them. NOED is a notable one for Killers, Blood Warden too if you can Hook someone during the EGC.

One tip about Flashlights i can give you, look up or down and they can't really get you. In the upcoming update (which reworks Leatherface and the Hillbilly slightly) there's going to be a change to Lightborn (a Hillbilly Perk) that will make you immune to flashlights and firecrackers.

  • Yeah, she really needs to be reworked. The Devs usually work on Killers who aren't played a whole lot, if I remember correctly? I know there's a rework for Leatherface and the Hillbilly coming out soon, but IDK if they have plans for the Pig.

  • I've been meaning to make the suggestion (along with concept visuals) for a kind of 'counter' to SWF.

Basically having a symbol between two or more Survivors that show that they're either friends or have played multiple consecutive matches together. That way, Killers can back out of lobbies before the match loads. They should also let Survivors and Killers see each other's Ranks again. That way if the Survivors see a Killer who's much higher rank (or vice versa) they can back out and see if they can find someone more suitable for their skill level.

  • My friend has a build consisting of Thana, Ruin or Dying Light, Remember Me and Blood Warden. It's pretty good as Freddy and Pyramid Head too.

  • TBH, I don't think we should get rid of SWF. Not because I think the game will die (I kinda doubt it, there are plenty of solo players out there), but it's just fun to play with your friends. And mine aren't terribly good at the game, so the Killer still has a chance to get a 4k.

What I think should happen is them introducing something that tells you if players are friends or have played a number of matches together. That way if you don't want to play with a SWF, you can back out of the lobby before the match starts.

lol, that's not a problem. and its fair to know what killer they are facing just how the killer knows which survivors they are facing and nothing can convince me differently

You know the whole point of the game is not knowing who the Killer is until you see them or something tips you off like the Nurse's shriek or the Doctor's static right? It's unfair to the Killer if all the Survivors know who it is and purposefully build their loadout to counter their powers and make winning next to impossible for the Killer.

  • Matchmaking has been broken a while. I've seen Red Rank Survivors while playing as Killer and Red Rank Killers while play as Survivor. They said something during the 4th Anniversary Stream that they're going to rework how matchmaking works so it's more based on your skill level than rank I believe?

  • I just don't like Myers.

But I feel like Ghostface is a better 'Stalker' Killer since his power can be negated or set back when Survivors reveal him. Myers's power is just constant leveling and Survivors can't do anything about it except running, and that doesn't even impede Myers much since Evil Within III makes him standard Killer speed.

  • I never run perks that let me see blood. I mostly use scratch marks and sounds to find Survivors.

  • I'm thinking about getting it on PC so I can participate in the PTB, but I need to wait till I get a powerful enough PC to run it (mine is currently garbo)

But I also have DBD on PS4 to play with friends who don't have an Xbox

  • I honestly try and evaluate the Survivors in the Lobby before the match starts. If I don't like them (i.e. They're all in store bought cosmetics or prestige gear) I back out.

But yeah, something really needs to be done about matchmaking. I'm rank almost getting exclusively purple and red ranks.

  • Had a match recently with what I think was a SWF. They got three gens done before I could hook one person. The match had been going for maybe two or three minutes? I thought they were hacking at first because it shouldn't be possible to get that many generators done that quickly.

  • For my rules:

    • Don't Camp. I tend to double back to hooked Survivors after checking on a gen, but they usually get unhooked by the time I get back. I will face camp if I figure I'm going against gen rushers or some toxic people.
    • First Come, First Hooked. I will chase down the first Survivor I see usually. If that happens to be someone who just go unhooked, they better lose me or they're going back on that hook. Sometimes I will chase someone else if I feel like I'm picking on someone too much. If you unhook someone in front of me, you bet I'm going to grab you or hit you.
    • End Chases quick. I am very much a lunger when chasing down Survivors. I try to end chases quickly because I know there are other Survivors working on Gens. I try not to tunnel, but I may do it accidentally because I try to predict Survivor's movements and try to cut them off.
    • Pay it Forward. I don't tend to get 4ks. This is because I often give the last Survivor the Hatch if I have a good match. If I'm going against toxic people though, no mercy.
    • Smack Body Blockers: If you body block me from hooking someone, I will hit you. If you want to get downed and get hooked, fine by me.
    • F* your Flashlights: If you try to blind me while I'm carrying someone, I will stare at the sky while making my way to a hook. Then I go after you Flashlight person.
  • This is why I think there should be a Casual Mode or a way just to freeze your Rank. Even if matchmaking wasn't broken so I'd get Red Ranks no matter what Rank I am, I don't want to go beyond Rank 12 or 13. It becomes a point where I have to play dirty and do all the things Survivors complain about like tunneling and face camping. I just wanna have fun, not play competitively.

  • Would the Survivors get some kind of notification that the Agent is using their Gadget? Like maybe a scanning overlay over the map? Or maybe an Iridescent Addon can add that scanning overlay, but let's you see them even if they aren't moving?

Also, I only see Agent 47 when I see this Killer. Maybe a corrupted/zombie looking 47....

  • I feel like the Phantom Animatronics shouldn't be able to harm Survivors. Having Phantom Freddy just chasing Survivors and breaking pallets should be all it can do.

Animated Machinery seems too powerful, if it was based on the Killer's Terror Radius or the last few gens the Killer has damaged it could work. But as is, it's a little too powerful.

    MatPat should be the Survivor

Would the cameras be visible for Security? And is it like damaging a generator where it takes a second or is it a hit and destroy?

For Ventilation, I think it should be a personal perk. It only effects the Survivor who has it equipped because it doesn't really make sense for it to effect other Survivors?

Those are just my two cents anyway

  • BHVR said in the past Q&A Livestream they tend to rework Killers who aren't used a whole lot. They said they're currently going to rework/tweak the Clown next.

  • @NinjaDette1 said:

I play both killer and survivor But my main question here is why do some killers dance in Front of me? When I’m on a hook ?. I never do anything salty or toxic though Unless the killer deserved And was toxic first . All I had was a toolbox 🤷‍♂️. I mean I know some say toolboxes are toxic but What is their reason. The ghostface killer ignored the other three Claudettes.

Because some Killers are just toxic in general. OR they wanna facecamp.

  • They've been working on it, I know they mention it in surveys. It's more than likely on the roadmap for the year, it's just hard to make sure everything works and doesn't break. And Sony has been especially slow when it comes to cross play with their consoles.

  • Killers are supposed (at least think) they have the upper hand going into a match. While it's not always the case, it's always a mystery as to who the Killer is and which strategy to use for countering their abilities and play style.

  • My friend has a Freddy build consisting of Thanatophobia, Dying Light or Ruin, Remember Me and Blood Warden. It's evil.

  • They should turn all the Killers into Survivors and make only one playable Killer; Doomguy.

Don't forget Nosferatu, one of the most influential horror movies ever released. Also the Blob.

I had an idea for a Nosferatu-esque Killer that I never posted and I saw something in the suggestions for a Blob inspired Killer. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what the new Chapter is in a couple weeks

The offering is secret but the second you see a hidden offering you know its a mori because its the only offering who are hidden lol

Aren't Shrouds a secret offering too?

This is one of the reasons why I kind of want Norman Bates as another killer.

A map with a mansion combined with motel rooms would be pretty sick and can create a creepy atmosphere.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/940/batesmotel.jpg

    Psycho Chapter confirmed!

NGL, that'd be pretty cool if they did that

  • It'd be interesting. The Exit Gates could be like the stereo-typically giant doors mansions seem to have in movies

  • I do really like this, but I have to ask; Is the Goop a brighter color than the ground? Because if so, it'll be easily spotted by Survivors. And if it's not, will it make noise when travelling flat on the ground? I imagine it'll make goopy, sludgey noises.

2 red ranks, 2 rank 20s. Im a rank 13. One of the 20's dced on me because i dont him a few minutes after he was fully healed

A lot of people are having issues like this right now. We're hoping BHVR looks into this. Supposedly they're going to implement an MMR to the game so people get matched with players at their skill level. Until then the strategy I've done is to back out of matches before they load if I get 3 or 4 people already there, and I do it especially if a Survivor has the prestige clothes

  • Still doesn't load for me.

What's the issue in the game? Is it a bunch of Red and Purple Ranks?

  • Your screenshot is broken

  • If you don't want SWF's as Killer at night, pull out before the matches load if you get three or four people. Especially if they're in bloody clothing. Then find another match. Do it a few times and you'll more than likely end up with Solo Survivors

  • They've confirmed it's a License Chapter. People believe it's Candyman. The Skeleton is just a promotional image for the 4th Year Anniversary Celebration on the 26th

  • That's definitely a bug. Have you reported it to the staff?

  • Licensed Chapters tend to be IPs that don't have something recent/upcoming with released dates. Like the Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter came out in 2017 and the last movie came out in 2010. Saw? DLC came out 2018, last movie came out 2010. It's similar cases with the other Licensed DLC, with the exception of Stranger Things.

Could it be Candyman? I know a lot of people suspect him, but I don't think it's likely BECAUSE of the movie coming out.

Could it be Chucky? Like Candyman, there's a recent movie so it's kinda unlikely.

Could it be Pinhead? It's likely since the last Hellraiser movie came out two years ago.

Could it be a Universal Monster? God I hope so. I want to see what BHVR does with something like the Mummy or the Creature from the Black Lagoon. It's likely it won't be the Invisible Man if it is, since they had a movie come out last year.

Could it be Pennywise? Doubt it. Pennywise seems too similar to the Entity in terms of power, both are primordial entities who feed off fear and can do weird reality warping things.

Could it be the Xenomorph or Predator? The Predator is very unlikely since it has a DbD-esque game out now. Maybe in the future? As for the Xenomorph, I can see it. The last movie came out three years ago and it's only been doing short films right now.

This is just my observation and hypothesis. I'm not dissing on the possibility of these characters being added in the future, I've just noticed a pattern.

  • @Fibijean said:

AI is one of, of not the, hardest and most complicated things to program. So the answer is in theory yes, in practice not necessarily. It's not too difficult to have a bot like those in the tutorial who follow a set path and do a particular action, but creating a bot against which players could test their skill would require developing an AI capable of imitating the rational and moral thought patterns of a real human being, which would be incredibly time-consuming and probably wouldn't improve the game proportionally to the amount of resources it would take to develop.

Yeah, I figured. It'd be a neat idea for a Practice Mode of sorts.

  • They could also buff the wiggle progression. I'd like it if Survivor get small bonuses if they've already been hooked or as the Killer gets closer to a hook.

Having a Survivor teleport somewhere takes a chunk of strategy away from the Killer. As much as I go for the nearest hook because it's easiest, sometimes it's better to plan out which hook to go to because it's further away from the other Survivors or gens, removing that and having them teleport to a random location will just add frustration to Killers if they end up next to a Survivor who can unhook them or a gen from them to work on when they get off.

Yes, Camping Killers are terrible and I hate them even though I mostly play Killer too, but the solution isn't to remove part of the control the Killer Players have in the game.

These experiences are what make the "git gud" comments so deflating. In order to get better at any game, you need a fair and balanced experience. And that can't happen when you're being paired up against survivors that have clearly been playing this game for years. It's like throwing someone into a pool that's never been swimming before and expecting them to compete alongside Olympic athletes.

    ^^^THIS

  • I'm a Killer main and I don't understand the hate for Decisive? It's a useful perk for Survivors, even if it can get annoying. Usually I'll down an unhooked Survivor and go "You have Decisive, don't you?" as I'm picking them up and then I get stunned because they do have it. I will say, it can get annoying if EVERYONE has it, but it doesn't really hinder me much.
