I feel like his main power should be more risk/reard for him. It's way too lenient and lasts for way too long. Also, with turning addons it's too cheesy. They should balance it, but then again, they should balance so many things. Will they? Maybe. In 3 years time, there's a 15% possibility they might look into it, after 60 more killer DLCS, 150 more wigs.

As an Oni main I'd like to know the location of these turning addons, I feel like they'd help me round those tighter corners for sure.

I can't laugh at survivors and their rulebook with righteous superiority if I in turn want them to abide by made up rules too.

    Bring your worst. Peasants.

Fair enough, I generally don't complain about stuff like that but it doesn't mean I have to like it. Getting sent to RPD isn't fun to me but I suppose taking it as a challenge is a healthy mentality in the long run. Interesting take

So it's like a Pig addon that survs hate?

It's a part of the game.

Not in the next update it won't be hehehehee >:) They're nerfing the drop bonus of Boil Over and adding hooks to top of Library. Hopefully they do the same with the other problematic buildings

This makes me not want to play now just by what I'm reading and I don't like how this is going.

It definitely won't happen every game, but every once in a while you'll get a squad that obviously is trying to run a boil over/sabo bully squad and you just have to be ready to slug and play around hooks really carefully. Certainly annoying but at least it isn't as constant as it was when the buff was first dropped

I personally think it is funny, not going to lie.

Yeah IG for the survivors for maybe a game or two, but it gets old really quick for killers. it basically incentivizes anti-gameplay by just running up main or library and just losing chase on purpose because the killer literally can't hook you

  • MMR didn't ruin the fun because it exists, it ruined the fun because of the massive reaction to it. Sooo many people complaining about it, esp on the killer side(which I main). It scared so so so many survs/killers to run full meta and so many games became many times more sweaty because everyone is scared everyone else will run meta. It's like an arms race because everyone is convinced MMR will come into their house and burn down their kitchens.

  • BBQ for the BP, Infectious because I play Oni

  • @Valik said:

The reason they are capped is to prevent cheaters and team-ups from taking games hostage to grind.

Without a cap on BP, not only would it be harder to gauge player performance in the post game screen, but it would also encourage boosters to spam BP gains to maximize their yields.

Imagine having a Trapper set traps forever, or a Michael stalking forever. In reality - these cap out the Deviousness category after awhile. But without a cap, it doesn't work - they will just keep spamming what works.

Survivors as is get rewarded handsomely for chases and coordinating with teammates. As it is, after doing gens for a bit and helping teammates - it's your turn to get chased. You don't get the max points in a match by sitting back and gen-jockying without helping with hooks or taking chase. If you want to grind BP - you have to play healthy and take chase, help the team, and complete objectives.

If you take away the cap, nobody will want to take chase - or people who are amazing at chase will get a mountain of BP without touching gens. The entire economy will go out of whack.

IMO they should increase per-match BP a little bit and tweak the scores to promote better behavior, with better payouts for players that play the 'intended' way. Raise the cap to 40,000 BP or something. Other than that, there's no need to ruin the balance or reward players for making the game less fun for others.

I think OP is referring to the 1 million BP cap, not the in game BP cap

  • Remove BP cap, with the exception of the in-game cap. Keep the in-game BP cap to prevent infinite farming(maybe increase it pretty please), but there really is no reason to cap our BP at a million.

  • You cannot feasibly implement an MMR system with the number of variables the community wants in play. Wins are an indicator of skill, and it simplifies the process. You can't say it doesn't work because the devs said in that same QnA that the MMR system can pretty accurately predict the outcome of matches. The matchmaking is what needs work, partially because of the lack of killers that lead to increased matching parameters, creating a mismatch in MMR between survivors and killers in lobbies. People want MMR to work for them on a game to game basis, but again that's not what it's designed to do. It's designed so that, GENERALLY SPEAKING, if it works perfectly and ideally, you should be winning 50% of your games(at least according to what the devs think is a win)

  • Yes, with the stipulation that survivor sided crutch perks also get similar treatment

  • People who don't want this in the game are just mad at a fanbase and don't really care about the license itself. Whatever License the devs decide to put into the game, it's new content that they worked hard to get into the game. Want to turn your nose up and get mad because the devs don't give you what you want? Pretty entitled, not gonna lie. But you can choose not to buy the Chapter, that's the beauty of how they decided to have their business model.

(EDIT: I kind of wished I put maybe, I'll be fine with whatever they put in, a FNAF chapter would be dope if they put in the work)

PrtScr copies the contents of the screen to the clipboard, though?

Don't think Win+PrtScr does anything super different. Alt+PrtScr is only the currently focused window/fullscreen application.

F12 by default for Steam to take a screenshot and save.

Not sure, all I know is windows+prtsc saves the screenshot to your screenshots folder. I have simple needs. Press the button to do the thing.

No it doesn't cause I tried to find a way to check and it gave me nothing yet I have all the cosmetics apparently and idk about the trinkets.

That is a bug, I remember I had the wraith's bighted legs for some reason, and my friends had it too. At least this event tells you your progress. Enjoy the Jane shirt while you have it ig lol

Well I guess I have bad luck cause I find and open envelopes and no cosmetics also the idea of inorder to get cosmetics you have to let someone find and open your letter even if you find them as killer seems a little backwards to me.

I mean it's not like they can tell its yours, maybe they didn't find it. Most likely bad luck. event's on till February 8th, you should be able to get to 10 before then

  • I had a game in Autohaven where the survs would just run to the corner that I used a hook nearby. I was running plaything as an anti boon, and they brought soul guard so I literally couldn't slug or hook them. Pain. Absolutely no idea how I won that game.

Don't forget ironworks of misery, that main building is nigh unhookable with the right build from the top floor

Except for playing killer and if you are trying to get all the cosmetics.

Even if you're playing killer cosmetics are pretty easy to get, and extra 5k BP for each interaction with them is a pretty nice incentive and encourages everyone to share the wealth. Revealing your envelope makes it even easier and also gives you 5K BP

And I obviously don't follow their rulebook, but it's sad that has to come guaranteed with crap talking me because I wanted to win as much as they did.

I would suggest just turning off EGC if it bothers you, or just ignoring it. At the end of the day you get toxicity in pretty much any multiplayer game and there are tools to avoid it if you want to. End of the day their BM and trashtalk ends after the round does. Personally when they trashtalk me I take it as a compliment lol, especially if I won. Again, all their trash talk doesn't stop you from playing whatever playstyle you want, and their complaints can fall on deaf ears if you just stop putting any value on what a random person in EGC is saying.

  • Well whiffing should feel bad from a design perspective. If you miss an attack it shouldn't feel good because you don't get the reward you were going for. If there's no penalty for missing then the power is unbalanced, because there are no drawbacks to just spamming the power.

Just keep developing your concept and you'll be able to see what needs changes as you continue to develop it.

I love [REDACTED]'s shred, the screams are hilarious to me lol.

EDIT: If forgot to answer the question lmao. As far as what kind of power would be "rewarding" it can be pretty complex. It depends on the killer you're making, like what would or would not make sense for them (wouldn't make much sense for a character with Nurse's design to have Oni's power rite?). How is that reward communicated to the player? Sure you need some kind of reward in gameplay, but how do you communicate the FEELING of getting that hit? For characters like Nemo and huntress that comes with audio and visual sounds that feel good to hear and let you know you got that hit, for Oni its with that really beefy triple bonk that makes it feel like you're driving the survivor into the ground. at the end of the day it depends entirely on what you're communicating, and HOW you choose to communicate it will also affect how rewarding the power will feel

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/307287/so-basically-you-got-what-you-wanted

It's always been like this, except now it's changed only a bit. When dead by daylight was in it's earlier stages, there were a ton of rules set into motion, since the community was small. The rules for killers were like, no m1ing as billy, because if you charge your chainsaw only, then we can just vault windows or drop pallets and instantly counter you! If you got 2 people in a basement, then you have to leave otherwise you're a POS that deserves to die, even though it's the correct play. Same for tunneling in certain situations, proxy camping, anything that is deemed "unfun".

And what were the rules for survivors? Not much really. Survivors still used broken addons such as BNPS, to instantly do gens. Survivors still looped around strong structures that were insanely hard for killers to go against. There were even infinites back then due to always being able to fast vault and not having windows blocking. They would constantly abuse that, but who cares because there's no rules for survivors, they can do whatever they want. There was no "Golden Age" back then, the "Golden Age" was just survivors abusing broken crap and getting away with it, when killers can't use their strong things, otherwise they're bullied by the community back then.

Name one rule example of the survivors limiting themselves in gameplay because it was "unfair" or "unfun" to the killer back then. Survivors can loop, drop as many god pallets, send you to god awful maps, loop around the strongest of structures and hold m1 on a gen like their life depends on it, which is completely fine. But why am I not allowed to do strong things unless I get constant amounts of hate? You see so many killers giving hatch to survivors, but do you ever see the same amount of survivors giving themselves to a hook? I feel like I'm one of the only 20 survivors in the entire game who does this. I'm allowed to play to win as survivor, but when I switch to killer, suddenly I'm a horrible person who needs to "get therapy". Now it's sort've better, there's more people telling you that tunneling and proxy camping when necessary is a viable strategy and you shouldn't be afraid to do it, but you still get so much hate for doing so.

There was never a golden age back then, it was just an age of crapping on killers, because they're just "suRviVors SurVivin". But sure, it was definitely a golden age for survivors.

End of the day, just don't engage with "survivor rulebook" stuff at all. There's no point and it only dampens your experience. Play how you want. When all is said and done, there are 4 of them and 1 of you in EGC, so even if you're right, you're outnumbered. Just don't engage and go next.

Yeah it's pretty goofy feeling when it happens. But I don't know if it's visible in the video but near the end when I try to hit Mikaela right outside the lodge with the tentacle and the animation just doesn't play, the game stuttered pretty badly. At least when I was playing it did. My PS5 never did that with DBD ever until just at that moment which was weird.

I'm a PC player, Steam specifically. Didn't notice any performance issues but then again I'm playing on PC. Hopefully that gets fixed soon for you.

  • I noticed this while I was streaming and I liked to imagine I was using the force, funny visual bug that I hope gets fixed soon.

  • I mean, without the Zombies Nemmy just becomes worse Pyramid Head. Sometimes the Zombies provide value, sometimes they walk into a tree for an entire match.

There's a fair amount of counterplay to them. You can blind them, kite them while another surv works on a gen, or as you mentioned, kill them with a pallet if there's absolutely nothing else you can do. Or, wild idea, you can just leave the gen and do a different one?

IDK what citations you need, zombies are pretty well known to be one of the most inconsistent killer powers in this game, idk what the big issue is. maybe you're just supremely unlucky with your zombies. Sorry I guess?

I had a game against a nurse that ended with the nurse getting first hook in the basement, 4 gens left and the killer decided to proxy camp the survivor, I decided to just quit, I wasn't in the mood for that type of lazy gameplay. I had another game where I had to wait for a demo to find the hatch first before hooking me, because he was afraid I would wiggle off, before any killer mains comment, no I did not have a wiggle build. I just can't figure out why killers are so desperate for 4ks, are the devs giving away cash prices, when did this game become so toxic, can I get a normal game without killers playing like there lives depend on it

Why do you want to finish gens so badly? Is there a cash prize at the end of the exit gate?

Sometimes people want to play sweaty, both survivor or killer side. Both sides play to win. L opinion. See you tomorrow lel

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/307286/unfun-killers-to-go-against

    1. Nurse chases are actually fun and the thrill of dodging blinks and mindgaming a nurse actually makes it fun.
    2. Twins are annoying to play against because everyone has this mentality that you have to slug and that makes the chases boring and drags the game out.
    3. Pinhead chases, especially with that engineer fang? or whatever it's called that damages you instead of chaining you are boring.
    4. Nemesis chases are BS because he just has this stupid whip that has a range that's way too long, can hit over pallets, windows, and any low obstacle, and then you'll randomly have zombies block entire loops on indoor maps. Once you're infected, his chase is too oppressive and boring
    5. Same applies to trickster. His knives build up laceration so damn quickly and his chases just suck because there's so little you can do.
    6. Doc, I don't care. My only issue with him is how he ruins any stealth play (which there's already not enough of in the game)
    1. Hard agree Nurse is dope
    2. Idk what you're talking about. "Twins"??? never seen them in my games
    3. Engineers is kinda boring but playing against skilled Pinheads feel like an entirely different game, in both a good and bad way
    4. Nemesis suffers quite heavily from the "W" strat, especially if you bring a perk like Overcome, which activates on a tentacle hit(even if it doesn't do damage)
    5. Trickster is annoying lol
    6. In my experience I get more then enough stealth gamers in my lobbies I think the stealth in the game currently is just fine thank you
  • I mean, event items almost always do this??? In my brief time playing this game off the top of my head I remember getting particles for the Anniversary event and Winter event. The halloween event had a loud asf pumpkin that could hinder you, and had particle effects when it sped you up.

Just don't bring an envelope 4Head

  • With the current state the Boil over build is in, RPD is just broken, survs just run up to the library and they are unhookable, even pre-boil over buffs. Hopefully the Devs see these complaints and change hook spawns for RPD(and other maps) and/or tone down boil over a bit.

However, this is a problem for multiple maps like Ironworks of Misery. I watched one of my friends get downed at least 5 times at the top of the main building and only get hooked like once. Hopefully changes come soon, in the form of hook spawns or perk changes.

  • It's new lobby music unique to her. It's super cool that the devs are doing this, and I hope they add more unique themes as they continue to roll out updates. Personally I'm eagerly waiting for unique plague chase music and whatnot

  • @Erd69 said:

Why do people complain about going against a pinhead or a nemesis? But d

    1. idk why people complain about nemesis or pinhead, they're pretty manageable to go against if you adjust your playstyle.
    2. As to why people don't complain about nurse, the amount of skill required to master nurse is high enough that for me personally, getting steamrolled isn't so bad because I know that Nurse earned it with the time put in.
    3. People are usually mad about the gameplay if a killer, not the series they represent. For some reason a fair number of Survivors find nemesis to have a lame playstyle, but I'm sure plenty of people were hyped to see RE reps in the game.
    4. Most of the time the reason people complain about how "broken" a killer is, it's because they just lost a game and need to find something to blame other than their poor play to not face the fact that they lost.
  • To play devil's advocate here (I'M NOT SAYING THIS IS MY ENTIRE OPINION, JUST OFFERING A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE):

You do get free access to try out future DLC for free. Additionally maybe there's some technical jargon that makes it hard to track who has played the PTB (for all we know this is probably one of those "we don't have to bandwidth to implement this" type of things).

REGARDLESS, some BP or Shards for playing the PTB, maybe with a stipulation that you provide feedback on the changes, would be really cool to see, since we have been told that feedback helps.
