I imagine this gets worse thanks to BHVR DBDstats now keeping track of exactly how many kills/escapes there are giving both sides another incentive to do what they do.
-
Soloq has always been bad, but in several years I've played - this is the worst.
-
This is probably when I'll stop playing.

It is not even necessary to deactivate the drones, just crouch walk and repair.
I find it extremely annoying when I am unnoticed repairing a gen and a teammate comes to deactivate the drone attracting the attention of the Skull Merchant. A drone placed on a generator is a poorly placed drone, it is only effective thanks to people who don't understand how the killers works. A good Skull Merchant will place them in strong loops and forced transit areas.
Deactivating the drones is indeed a waste of time and alerts the SM + she can simply recall them immediately anyway.
Of course if she comes calling then you get a scan almost guaranteed.

Many killers can do this actually and even in faster way.
So the reason you hate SM is that she disturbs your repairing?😂
Well the reason I hate her she gets stealth with no tells (like breathing or cloak flapping or even wraith growls), haste, hinder, free injures, anti-loop, and area control - all for just dropping drones, no real other action on her part.

Should they change her name too, lol? Completely changing both her power and appearance is just a different way of saying "Delete this character and we both pretend the next character released is SM".
Prefer more like "Delete this character and both pretend she never existed."
-
You know, survivors adapt to numerous unsafe loops, smaller maps, nerfs to perks, etc.
Press w is just all around effective with all the anti-looping killer powers they built into the game now.
-
Sorry but every time I bring a BPS the killer is suddenly a tryhard tunneler/camper....so cake it is.
-
Guess it's intimidating to killers that someone can spend that much bp on a character, but in my experience a lot of the biggest potatoes I run across are p100.

At a time when the world is demanding more diversity, this thread and forums in general seem to be moving in the direction of not recognizing killers diversity.
Nah, we hate her because she gets to do too much just by dropping drones.

Where are people seeing all these SMs?
I've seen one in 85 games and it was a 3 man out.
One is one too many for me - but I run across an SM about 3-4 times a night.
Edit: In fact just starting this evening I had two in a row.

the map actually looks really really small, bhvr is cooking something
They make these maps any smaller and they'll need to reduce the gen requirement to power gates to 4.
It's already ridiculous how many 3 gen opportunities killers get in the newer maps.

Every event, I go out of my way to clear my inventory because disabled event items bother me. I hate that I won't get to do it this year.
I feel this.

They threw 1 million bp at us earlier to 'fix' the problem.
So uh, enjoy the inventory clutter, I mean blood moon souvenirs.
-
probably not
they tossed 1 mill bp to us earlier for it - guess tossing bp at the problem is supposed to solve things now

Edit: TLDR - if you abandon players who are genuinely trying against Skull Merchant, then you're the problem. You don't allow anyone to objectively assess her or learn anything against her, because you doom the whole team from the get go.
To be honest, from my perspective, he's completely on point.
It's so frustrating the Skull Merchant bias, and I'm sorry there is bias. I'm not at the pro survivor level, I'm still building my skills, and I'm not at the point I can say I can comfortable loop against Clown or Wraith or Bubba without making glaring mistakes still. I still am actually trying to learn how to play against Skull Merchant. I rarely see them, so I don't get the chance often...
However these people just giving up, dooms the game so I can't even try. I lose one chase, however long I last, and that's it, I die on hook. No second or third chance to have another go.
I understand the theory behind why Skull Merchant isn't that fun to play against, and am always trying to think of ways to make her more enjoyable. I for one like the concept of having to Metal Gear Solid past her drones to work on gens, go for saves and alike... at loops it's obnoxious sure, but still if I've not done anything stupid the Skull Merchant is no worse than Clown at loops.
The thing that gets me about all this Skull Merchant hate, is personally it takes a LOT to make me give up on a game... because its not the Skull Merchant who is punished, its the rest of the team. If you have a player who is genuinely trying against Skull Merchant, and you quit... sorry you're the #########.
In the rare occassions I have quit (not counting dying to give hatch), (and we're talking maybe 5 times)... Usually it is something my teammates have done, rather than the killer.... and there are things that annoy me way more in this game than Skull Merchant... pretty much any strong chase killer like Blight or Spirit who runs Pop, Pain Res, Grim Embrace and immediately tunnels the first player off hook. I imagine high level Nurses are the same, but I rarely see those, and facing decent Nurses is a lot of fun.
My stupid analogy
So I just don't get it... it's like Skull Merchant is a plain boring Baked Potato and sweaty Blight is a Parsnip or a Sprout (something with a strong flavour).
Then someone saying "I don't like sprouts, but I really ######### hate baked potatoes!". Like how do you hate baked potatoes with genuine visecra? They're boring, they're bland and they need something... fair enough... but to hate them so much you won't eat dinner on the same plate?
Like parsnips or sprouts can at least kinda understand... but a baked potato? It's nonsensical to hate it that much... and that's how's I feel about Skull Merchant.
The thing is she's had such a bad reputation for so long I don't see anyone's opinion changing.

I played SM a lot and I think the biggest problem is being undetectable. There's no cd on drones so it feels insane that I can just run around the map constantly undetectable and walk right up to survivors on gens.
Frequency rate seems to skyrocket with the SM though.
-
@RFSa09 said:
you just outplayed them, skull merchant is not strong at all, the only thing she needs is some QoL changes
It's not hard for SM to outplay any survivor - she basically gets free injures but at least Legion tends to run off after.

And waste your bloodpoints
Yeah about 150K bloodpoints I've been forced to spend so far on useless offering. I would like to trade those back please.
-
So we can expect the offering to never work for the event they were designed for and just accumulate in our inventory forever?
Nice.

Camping and tunneling working because it takes no more iq than a frog has to pull off and people don't want to put effort into winning they think that forcing the survovurs had is a play style when it just them being lazey to get the free win and plus most killer main have big egos even do more than half camp all game haha
Fully agree - killer has any easy mode reset button in camp/tunnel which is outright devastating especially in soloq since they cannot communicate to the others what the killer is doing. Unless they all take a bunch of other info perks which further limit the perks they'd have to choose from to succeed in other areas - like chases or doing gens.
Some killers don't even bother to play the game - they just to good old reliable camp/tunnel because it works.
But you know - as some would say on this forum - it's the survivor's fault doing well against the poor killer who is only trying to eliminate your participation and bloodpoint scoring in the game.
-
@TatsuiChiyo said:
If 4 gens are done and only 4 hook stages have been made, than at best Killer has only gotten 1 person out. Even in that situation, if a Killer hard tunnels and proxy camps one person that should only result in a 2 K as the other 2 can finish a gen and open the exit gate and survive.
Camping and tunneling only work because Survivors allow it to.
Yes, cannot forget that everything is the survivors' fault.
-
That map is just poor design on gen placement - there should be a second or even third near the theater.
The mid is just multiple opportunities for 3-gens.

Have you tried playing the killer? The AoE is definitely not as generous as you think it is.
It's highly generous on indoor maps.
-
Pretty much players who just want easy games play her. I really cannot have any respect for them whatsoever.
Edit: It's a pity about her reputation (well earned thanks to certain people) - I wanted to main her at one point but gave that up quickly after seeing her in all her 'glory'.
-
Maybe once since it was implemented, because most killers know they can stay just out of trigger range and still camp you just fine.
It does next to nothing.
-
Yeah since they cannot figure a way to take care of the boogey-man 4 man swf with comms and more importantly, survivors who don't dc/suicide on first hook - they've come to nerf everything survivor for this one scenario.
Course if you cater to 5% of top tier players, well you just made a game only 5% of players will want to play.
Oh yeah...there are terrible perks on both sides, the really bad survivor ones make four people suffer for it though.
-
Well, you know, there are five people in a match and we all see our own situation. So the 60% chance of not making it to endgame for most of the players takes forefront over 'win rate' cause the only way survivors win in the matchmaking is if they escape and that's four players affected..
It wasn't so long ago that devs considered 2 kills - 2 escapes to be the perfect outcome. I don't know what changed.
-
Not to mention if they get interrupted or out right spooked due to a chase coming nearby they get to start over.
Recent game on dead dog saloon I kept seeing this player's aura flicker on and off in the basement throughout the match. The final time was when we were working on the LAST gen and they realized it would be finished before them...and finally gave up.
Why devs are making killer perks disguised as survivor ones?
-
That's quality development right there - shelve that perk and never look at it again.

Your asking for a fair fight in an asymmetrical game?
They're asking for a fair test of skill - large aoe globes that can be fired off every few seconds and go through walls nullifies any of that.
-
I dunno - never really had issues with sore survivors when killing. Guess long as you're not a dick it's fine - your slate is clean.
That said - I am a sucker for getting my snoot booped as pig... *sigh*
-
Adrenaline...yeah, so survivor plays the game for most of the match with just 3 perks... finally gets their reward when all 5 gens are done... and we're going to nerf that. Sure, is great when you need it (since it risk reward), but turns out to be a waste the other half the time if you are healthy when the gates power. It's basically the only end game perk that actually does something since they shut down every other anti-tunnel.
They really want to give killers every chance.
-
I think he has enough going for him right now.
-
Since nerfs have been rampant this past year - a lot survivors ain't going to be tryhard escaping, so they make their own fun.
-
They're both annoying - one makes me press M1 longer than I ever care to and the other bores me even more.
-

Best player in the world beats other players that are not best players in the world ---> killers in general are obviously OP
Maybe that's the problem - they are never matched against others who are best in the world.
-
It's the most powerful tracking perk there is right now. You should always get perks you don't have off the shrine, especially if they were paid characters, just because they often redo perks so what was trash before maybe...less trash later.
-
I never liked going against one shot killers - but those curves are now insane.
-
If that bothers you, don't try to reason out how the mori would work.

90% of the perks in this game are horrible or very niche that's why the meta is so stale
Exactly, but they like nerfing good perks as balance so everything is equally bad.
-
Premade nerf? If they want to kill their game, sure.
-
I honestly only play if there is a cosmetic I want.
Then I stop playing and go onto to something I can enjoy - just not worth the frustration.
-
That's how they roll unfortunately - either the perks are absolute garbage or if one happens to be decent, rather than balance it, they'll nerf it into oblivion within a few months.
-
There's a missed statement here -
Killer is unplayable for bad killer players.
-
Big problem I have is she is the best stealth killer right now - near silent and with all the blind spots around most gens, it's just bleh. She lands free hits if not gen grabs most every match. And she can still just proxy camp the objectives - if you deal with the drones, she knows, if you don't deal with the drones...she knows even more.
Add some haste and hindrance in her base kit...she was bad before, she's just worse to versus now.
-
They do need to add back the extra couple seconds of stun - least it would be worth something as an anti-tunnel perk again.
-
If counterplay means baiting it out until you either have to swing or the survivor makes the pallet, then dead hards anyway...
Dead hard is fine in the open, but that's not when it is most used.
