Honestly the invitations from the previous anniversary were easier to understand, it was just one thing with numerous individual effects, but now survivors have 3 different foods all with 3 different effects, it's too much going on at once to keep track. Meanwhile the poison just makes strong killers even better, try running from a Billy revving his chainsaw when you are poisoned and are forced in to walking every like 4s because your run is on recovery, yeah that's an insta-down. Not having Tryks either, the mode has no life to it…
-
To be honest the idea of "brain dead playstyle" could go for killers too; many who use so many meta or crutch perks because it's just easier to do so than try anything different. Both sides have a percentage of players who just don't really try to learn with certain perks essentially putting them on auto-pilot, thus often creating very stale matches, so nerfing a few survivor chase-oriented perks will not solve anything in the long run. Also killers can be boosted too, let's not act like it's a survivor only thing.
-
One difference is Amanda is not in the new Saw game so there is no real conflict of interest in having the same character in two games at the same time.
-
Usually for the first week of release when it has a separate queue it's fine, but after that it becomes extremely difficult to guarantee maps any more because of the nerfed rate of the offerings. So you have to get the map first, complete a specific generator and then also escape, and that's often easier said than done. Of course that is just my theory and if the next new map does have an achievement again then this will not age very well.
-
Adding back BP bonuses isn't even an incentive anymore, the game literally throws BP at you so there really needs to something else to encourage going after unique survivors.
-
Overall Ghoul can feel cheap and most casuals just don't want to deal with it, often resulting in them giving up in the match or disconnecting when possible. Of course some could say this is a skill issue, survivors are entitled etc and occasionally that is correct, but genuinely it feels like BHVR are more concerned with sales (of the killer) rather than wanting to actually do any real adjustments. Drop the auto-aim of the power, it's a simple enough fix, otherwise I would expect ranged killers to also get crosshairs for their projectiles, seems fair right.

If BHVR is going to keep extending 2v8 to 3 weeks, they should just release it 3 weeks instead.
It's been extended it to 4 weeks before as well, clearly they have their reasons. Regardless, the demand is there.
-
@Daniel_Silva04 said:
Why do you have to extend it? 2 weeks is enough for everyone to enjoy the mode. I want to play 1v4 with normal queue again. So I guess this is it... Another week without me playing the game.
Because shockingly there are players that want more than 2 weeks to play the mode, the game does not revolve around you. Besides you'll get all the 1v4 you want when the new chapter releases.
-
At this point just call it Oni and Friend VS 8.
-
Buff Distortion with more tokens but also give it a weakness if there are concerns about certain players being TOO stealthy. One idea is perhaps the perk also reduces the time until you start getting afk crows from 90s to 60s; or whatever the default number is to reduce non-participation from the user. Another is Distortion delays your aura being revealed but it will still happen regardless (unless you enter a locker), so you still get the sound notification / token usage that your aura was attempted to be read, but you have additional time to react; so however many seconds it is (I forget the duration).
-
Dedicated server not responding usually do not give dc penalties though because it's an issue outside of the player's control, so if you're getting long dc penalties then some information is being withheld here. You could also consider running a tutorial/custom match first to see how your connection fairs before going in to an actual public match instead of trying 20 matches in a row and ruining it for the other players involved.
-
It's funny that BHVR wanted to ensure the Ghoul's power was accessible; hence the lock-on effect and even the crosshair indicator, but for some reason they are unable to do the same thing for older killers such as Huntress, Deathslinger, Twins or others with a ability that may benefit from having such things, but often have them locked behind an add-on. They've also stated their design redirection on the Ghoul had nothing to do with money; which clearly at this point is far from the truth. Players would still buy Ghoul if they did not have such ease of use to play, but we know BHVR is in no rush to balance anything in this game. One thing gets fixed and two things get broken in return…
-
Age restrictions mean nothing. Can often end up playing with adults who act like entitled kids when things don't go their way in a match…

With the current state of the game balance, tunneling is a necessary condition for just having a chance at winning against a competent SWF on comms. They will run 16 second chance perks and take 7 hits for each hook state each, making it only possible to secure a kill if you just focus one guy. You will finish consuming his endurances and hastes just when they pop the last gen, if you are lucky. If tunneling becomes impossible, but SWFs continue to be allowed to the general queue and second chance perks are not nerfed, the kill rate will drop to 5% at the higher MMR brackets, and these 5% will be due to the cheaters with insta kill bots.
If you are tired of playing survivor - just play killer, and after a few 4k's and leaving the baby MMR bracket you will start encountering the invincible quartets and the Achaemenid immortals I'm talking about, you will quickly change your mind after hitting a guy 8th time in a row and still failing to actually hook him.
Can we stop using SWF as an excuse. Not every player is in a SWF and even then there are plenty in a group that are just casual jimmies, they are not comp or navy seals or going to roll every single killer, they are just some players wanting to have a little fun with friends. Good SWFs are a problem sure, but if BHVR actually implemented a way to recognise when a group is preformed in a lobby they could have addressed this issue long ago.
-
Old Myers felt more exciting even if he was not the strongest. Is it scratch mirror or tombstone, or just a baby killer? It actually added some suspense to the match because you didn't know what you would get. New Myers doesn't feel the same and is just a dash killer with stealth, not that we haven't seen that before… chucky…
-
Forcing players to stay in a match does not always result in improved quality. Players can still throw, find ways to not participate and just ruin things for everyone else, this can happen in many games not just DBD. In most cases I would prefer to take a bot over someone who doesn't want to do anything. The question is why - aside from entitlement- do players often DC to begin with, and sure BHVR are trying to work on some of those frustrating elements but patience to address this wears thin with each passing day…
-
The game is stale, and I'm not constantly wasting 10-20+ mins to find a match that lasts even less time than that. Same killers over and over, same with perks, survivors with entitlement, no new ways to play the game. Yeah no, I'm playing something else.
-
Sounds like a get good issue, because the mode is not as bad as you make it out to be. I mean you're complaining Legion got removed, tells us all we need to know…
-
Basekit Corrupt is not bad (if it was weaker than the actual perk ofc)… but then the killers who did run it would just replace it with Lethal Pursuer instead. So I think indirectly it would continue to benefit stronger killers as they would be able to get both effects of these perks; without one taking up a valuable slot.

- dbd is 4 v 1 not 6 v 6
- just because people can DC leaving their team at a disadvantage in other games doesnt mean it should happen in all games
- if your going to DC over any little thing then maybe the game isnt for you? i mean why bother joining a match if your going to DC? just dont play. if i played cod and didnt like being shot at, i wouldnt start a match and then DC the second im shot, i wouldnt play it.
- using cod is a very bad example because cod is notorious for its toxic player base that has people join matches with the only intention of greifing team mates. you saying dbd should be like that?
- allowing DCing freely would 100% kill the player base of dbd. survivors DC and the killer is left alone with bots….not fun. killers DC and the match ends instantly…not fun.
I don't think you are aware of the concept called "entitlement". No player wants to be the first injured, shot, killed, sacrificed, looped for 5 gens etc whatever the objective is in a game, and when it does happen; some players will just DC whether out of frustration or as stated; entitlement. Telling them to play something else often falls on deaf ears because they will still continue to play the game regardless. Of course in this case a lot of this is also BHVR's fault, they constantly make questionable decisions and/or leave frustrating things in the game (for both sides), yet all they did was create an even worse and flawed penalty system; which clearly was a poor excuse to cover up their own incompetence at failing to address the core issues that still go unresolved to this day. (Not saying their should not be penalties, but it's also currently a joke deterrent).
-
We'll probably end up getting more busted ass killers on release before any actual QoL updates go live at this point. Players have patience, but it should not be taken for granted.

And let me tell you why. Dead by Daylight, regardless of their plans to this that or another, has really lied to us and taken our money. They're not an MMO pump and dump scam. They DO consistently try to find ways to make people happy with the game, even though the community erupts into chaos whenever the least little change gets brought up. There are games that will do you way worse than dbd. And I still believe part of the issue with dbd is a community that gnashes it's teeth whenever the devs do just about anything at all.
Dbd has outlasted its competitors partly because it DOES keep creating new content, killers, survivors, cosmetics. They do respond to player feedback. They DO listen, even though they may not work as fast as some people want. But mostly, and I mean this exactly as it sounds, the devs continue to work on this while being faced with the hands down most divisive, frequently negative fandom I've ever seen in all my years of being in fandoms.
Not only do they deserve the labor of love award for that, they deserve a Nobel peace prize, an Emmy, a golden globe and probably literally all the medals. Just give em all the medals. I think if the Star Wars creators were given all the dbd feedback posts and tweets, they'd probably all quit and go home like the Sims 4 dude.
Let's be real; DBD never really had any serious competitors to begin with. It's also BHVR's only cash cow, what else are they going to make content for…
-
You want BHVR to have some magic wand to be able to differentiate between what causes a disconnect, but literally most multi-billion dollar and/or triple A game companies don't even have a solution for such a thing, and it's simple; it would be abused by players in some form or another.
-
Mode is a failure when the majority of sweat players just ignore the event mechanics altogether, it's basically just normal mode but with a Halloween theme. I love waiting 10mins to get in to a survivor match only to get hard tunnelled multiple times without even managing to complete a single event gen for the challenges… I'd take Chaos Shuffle over this mode, least that gives you a different match experience every time.

Call me cynical but I do not believe OP at all that they got 15 minute penalty from “repeated crashes”.
Right now the DC penalty is super lenient and you can disconnect from multiple games (reportedly 4-5) before even receiving the 1 minute penalty.
If you’re at a 15 minute penalty, you’re either ragequitting and not telling the truth (My theory) or you have crashed over 8 games in a row now and still keep queueing without stopping to try and fix your problem.
As for the question you stated in the OP, logistically there’s no reason for it to work that way, I’m assuming that is a bug since you’re apparently crashing/quitting and not launching again until later, maybe it would only apply the penalty then? Probably unintended.
The point is though why does the timer exists when you are not playing the game? why does it not just tick down?
-
Likely so people who were intentionally DCing couldn't just log out; go play some other game/activity, and then come back with the penalty timer back at zero. Of course it's kinda silly in some ways because if the person DCs again, the penalty is just going to be even higher anyway. The penalty system is kinda flawed and a poor attempt to cover up all the other issues…

She doesn't! She can puke on gens and infect people that way. She could even go so far as to get down to one clean pool and camp it once a majority of survivors are infected, as unhooking a infected survivor or working on a gen with them infects you, since she doesn't have to be the only person chasing survivors.
OK, whatever you say. Still prefer Plague over Legion though :3
-
@4thdslip said:
Both of these are autopilot!!! She doesn't even need to hit players if she's added to 2v8, just puke on gens and vaults!
Plague still needs to find people and she does not have mobility, there is a big difference.
-
Only thing you can do is jump in 2v8 when it returns, that way you avoid Ghoul. Although Legion is still going to be there; but they have some nerfs, still it's probably the lesser of the two evils…

@OrangeBear said:
…because I want to know who is ratting in a locker and not doing anything.
Why? Literally how would you react to this information.
Aside from a bit of fun… if you know Sally is hiding in lockers and someone is on hook, clearly they may have no intention to get the person. Like it's additional information to plan your next move if you need to.
-
@MrMori said:
That would just lead to toxicity. Head On should show the aura of the locker you're in when it's ready anyway.
There are far more toxic things to experience in this game, this would be extremely minor in comparison. Though excuse me for suggesting something that could actually be useful to gauge what is happening in a match.
-
Anyone could purposely crash their game so not it's not possible to distinguish whether it was genuine or not. Ether way it disrupts the match for the other 4 players regardless of which side they are on. You got a 5min time out, it could have been worse.
-
@Munky said:
Because a big portion of the players in EU are Russians and some Asians/Africans on VPN. It's always very noticable how they keep getting away with a lot of bs on both sides. >80ms is kinda the sweetspot for shannigans, and that is exactly what most of them have. I hate it too.
We really using VPNs as the main excuse huh. At the end of the day eventually the matchmaker will put you with whoever it can to avoid long queues, so if that means you get put with someone at 180+ ping; it will happen at some point. Not to mention on the survivor side; if one person plays with another in a different region to them, someone is going to end up with high ping.
-
To be fair it's not specifically Springtrap that kinda ruins the mode, it's a number of killers (Oni, Lich, Plague etc) that do not have to worry about survivor invitation abilities and that are are able to reap the additional benefits (like remote hooking, and pallet removal etc) that can leave you feeling like what's the point of even playing the mode at all. A lot of sweatiness as per usual… but exacerbated by the fact the go-next prevention is just forcing survivors to throw themselves at the killer instead to end the match as quickly as possible.

Agree. All the people complaining on the forums about not being able to go next or DC have been locked out of games or have stopped playing because they can’t regularly ruin other people’s matches anymore. The system is working exactly as intended by keeping these type of players away from the game.
It's rather delusional to think such players will not find other ways to ruin a match instead. Bringing Luck offerings to skip the first hook stage, not engaging in normal gameplay, afking on purpose, SWFs just throwing themselves at a killer etc. The forced second hook stage or the afk crows do nothing, players can just tab out whenever they want and come back once the match is over. Trolls will always find a way to adapt…
-
You won the match, what more do you want? Just move on to the next one.
-
Players DC often because of so many miserable aspects of the game, though then you wonder; why don't they just play some other game if they are not having as good time with DBD? Well it can still be fun despite it's many flaws. Problem is BHVR take way too long to address many of the frustrating issues (regardless of role) and often throw things in that make them even worse as a temporary fix...

A survivor's entire slug bar is 4 minutes, and the AFK crows were nerfed so badly that a survivor can easily hide for over 8 minutes, with zero interactions, and have zero crows.
Why do you keep refusing to acknowledge that the AFK crows got severely nerfed because of survivor complaints???
Pretty sure they got nerfed because a survivor couldn't take a moment to scratch their balls without the crows suddenly kicking in. Most players are not hiding for significant amounts of time either and the ones that do often get ratted out by other survivors…
-
You sound like this is unique to DBD, trash talk in chat can literally happen in any game. If new players don't stick around it definitely is not because of chat, but probably other aspects of the game like balance, bugs, player progression etc. Now if chat was turned off by default and you had to manually activate it to join then sure, but it should be accessible to all regardless of platform, because let's be real you can also vibe and be chill in chat with just as many people that are toxic.
-
A survivor talking smack is nothing new, they'd do it regardless of whether they died or managed to escape. DBD has a lot of egos in play…

Weaving Spiders could reduces all charges on gens, but the user of the perk ends up suffer from I dunno a personal -25% speed on repairing for the rest of the match. Tweak the number if necessary, but something like this makes more sense than Broken status…

It wouldn't because just like Sony, Microsoft checks everything is legit and safe before it becomes available through their service; (which in this case is the Xbox App) and that includes patches. Y'all know how easy it is to just upload a game on Steam that contains some kind of malware or virus…

"Once again the ball has been dropped and killers are AGAIN paying for it." - It's kind of ironic when survivors had to suffer with Kaneki for weeks, and now they suffer with Legion and Oni (in 2v8). I dislike queue times as much as the next person but let's not act like one side is more of a victim than the other, both go through phases of "paying for it" at some point.

Fact that you tried to justify it as a valid system in another comment doesn't make it seems as a simple theoretical question instead of suggestion.
I was humouring the person who question the entire idea to begin with. It's not a suggestion, never was, just some fun. Guess I expect too much from some of the DBD community…
-
At this point I'd take the original Skull Merchant every match if I didn't have to constantly see Legion. Usually the only time it's not miserable is if the Legion player is new.

Y''all are not fun at all. It's not a suggestion of something I want added to the game, its a bit of fun, stop being so anal about it. jesus christ.

@Arbmos1998 said:
Only reason why It works in other games is because it puts you in a lobby first then bans are selected. DBD you pick your Killer then it searches for a lobby and you can't change. If this became a thing certain Killer players just wouldn't be able to play the game and you will just have dominant SwF banning the stronger Killers so they get easier matches against M1's.
That's why I said it is something you would select before you start searching for your next match. There would also be restrictions on SWFs; like a pre-group could only choose and ban 1 killer between them to avoid it getting out of hand, and again they could not do this multiple matches in a row.
You missed the point where I said this was just a bit of fun though. We all have a killer sometimes we'd like to avoid, share it.
