  • It really is awful right now. It's telling that surv bonus is at +100% nearly all the time. Just sweatstain after sweatstain killer. While you get paired with survivors that are either terrible or just actually throwing.

  • The problem is that this game is far too punishing for low-mid level players and too safe for very high level players. A low-mid level survivor might last 45s - 1min in a chase where a high level player can reliably run killers for entire games. Something needs to be changed or implemented to bridge that gap some.

  • I think over time the nurse problem is just going to get worse as the game ages. Once all the god pallets, flashlights and teabagging you go through as a normal killer drives you to play nurse why would you go back to that. I think more and more killers are either reaching that point or leaving.

  • They need to give all hooks the pyramid head treatment and just make the hook move if the killer is patrolling near it too long. Every single game I played today the killer camped the first hook until death. And against some killers there is counterplay to that but if you are soloQ vs a killer with a one shot or huntress it's just not happening.

Its pretty obvious most players arent enjoying killer and everyone always compares it to streamers who are very talented, they struggle so what about more casual players?

Theres a reason killer has so little players...

I dont play killer, and I get bored of survivor too as it's so limited in the killers I see. Reasons why me and alot of people play other games

Oh what you mean having playing video games as your livelihood being the bar to play killer at an enjoyable level is unreasonable?

So basically accept that there is a fair chance you can queue for 5+ mins for a game and may spend the same amount of time doing nothing but dying on hook.

Brilliant game design. If it happens 1 time, youre good, if it happened 3 or 4 times in a row and youre new you'd probably drop the game. And tbh thats not beyond the realms of possibility.

BHVR displaying amazing game insight as per usual.

The funny thing is pop and PR have anti synergy. If a survivor doesn't tap the gen with PR then the killer can't use pop on it.

See that would require survivors to actually think about and consider the killers plan and think about the big picture gameplay, not "hehe hold M1, hehe hold W"

  • I think the game should calculate survivor MMR after a match has fully completed. Then give MMR to the whole team based on how many of the team escaped.

  • Because they have no idea where they want perk powerlevels to be. Things like dead hard have been untouched (buffed if you count validation) but they nerf parental guidance and put stuff like corrective action in the game. They can't make perks stronger than DH (see: boon healing situation) but they need to decide where they want the powerlevel to be. imo balanced landing is a good power level, situationally strong but not amazing in every situation. I think that's what perks should be, you choosing which circumstances you excel in, not be overall amazing.

  • SWFs don't like it when the toxicity is reversed on them. I will support basement bubba as long as SWFs continue to have an easy life.

  • There aren't enough killers playing especially in the afternoon so sometimes the system will just throw you in with whoever. MMR would be fine if the game wasn't dogshit at high level.

  • There's no comparison needed. Anyone who thinks deathslinger needed to be made less powerful is out of touch with reality. Watch Diablo_97 vs Otz's swf (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35vBSv7zPGw). He gets one kill even though he missed like 2 shots the entire game as PRE NERF slinger.

And otz's SWF isn't even world class or using mean stuff vs a tournament level player bringing sweat perks and addons.

Now if you want to argue that deathslinger needed a redesign, sure, instant scope felt pretty bad to vs. But he didn't need to be -weaker-

  • It has a hard skillcheck because devs make game design decisions completely arbitrarily. I would consider myself fairly killer biased but I see no reason why DS needs a skillcheck. Makes near 0 difference at higher level play and only serves to punish and frustrate newer players that are probably already having enough trouble defending themselves.

But hey yeah guys keep punishing new players for no reason. It's super fun.

  • Yep the plentiful resources and 2nd chances for survivors combined with constant communication makes for an extremely easy game for SWFs.

  • @Sluzzy said:

It is funny how you never see a survivor main posting a 50 or 100+ win streak. It's impossible.

    But yes, Artist is broken.

Actually Aryun and a couple other survivors have done large escape streaks. Players like marth88 and dowsey have also done SWF vids where they go tons of games using minimal perks almost never losing a man. That type of content isn't posted as much because survivor is the easiest competitive role ever made :)

  • You can find footage of multiple devs playing this game. They are rank 20s. The game is balanced around holding W and facecamp bubba.

  • They can be DBD is just run by the most sluggish dev team on the planet.

  • It's a bit of a relic from way back in the day when there weren't nearly as many killers and cosmetics weren't as plentiful.

  • After 6 years BHVR has not managed to break the meta of max slowdown and max second chance perks. This isn't the only reason, but it gets very old feeling like I'm throwing if I'm not running 4 regression perks or DS/DH/UB/COH. It's ridiculous how long the survivor perks in particular have held the meta.

  • Removing CoH would make other playstyles more viable but it would do nothing about the actual problem of tunneling being effective. There need to be more basekit tools to disincentivize this strat.

And I want to be very clear about this, just because I think tunneling needs to be less effective says nothing about my opinion of game balance as a whole. Just that I think it's not a fun consequence of game design.

  • I fully agree with you that pre-drop and W is a problematic aspect of the game but it's a little weird when you say you play pyramid head. Like he's one of the earlier killers that started this obnoxious trend of killers having godlike anti loop so you have to understand when survivors don't want to let you put them in a lose/lose.

  • By this same logic depip squad proves the game is survivor sided. I think they lost a handful of games playing completely perkless. Even people like scottjund or ryanpez didn't 4k vs them.

The only thing kill rates and otz's vids prove is that good players are going to win the majority of their matches because survivors on average play like clowns. I'm not really concerned about being able to beat teams like the ones in most of otz's vids I want to have a chance to win when the survivors are actually trying.

  • They probably have a similar stance as awarding BP for vsing swfs which is they want to solve the root problem. Which is fine but like... Please do it soon.

  • Watching a survivor die inside after a few well placed blinks is one of the most satisfying feelings in game ngl.

The game isn’t designed around comms though. Working with limited information is intentional and is bound to lead to mistakes.

Bringing solo queue closer to SWF would render many killers too weak because comms break the original design of the game, so killers would need to be buffed accordingly.

This game wasn't designed with SWF at launch. It's in the game now and it isn't going anywhere. You either bring solo close to SWF and balance around that or you leave the game a mess.

  • Do you enjoy waiting in queue?

  • Balancing twins because of her killrate at high MMR is one area I kind of agreed with the devs at. Now I don't want people to read that as I don't think twins need QoL improvements. Because they do. Just that I would hope that we would see a lot more changes aimed at higher skill brackets of the game for both sides.

This is a lot of free information to give out. Its not just minor buff.

True, new players wont even use it correctly but for already average-good survivors this is gonna be huge. Especially if they go with all icons they propose, even chase and exit gate one will start to save survivors a lot of time without even using perks designed for that

Right I don't want this construed as me thinking killers don't need buffs. Because they absolutely do. I just don't see why it seems like a lot of killers don't want survivors to have -basic- tools for team based games. Like when I play a game I want my competition to be able to be the best they can not be arbitrarily hamstrung by a lack on information. It's not fun for me to not know if I'm playing a 1v1v1v1v1 or a 1v4

  • I could understand this question if we were talking about a buff to surv basekit. Like if they go ahead with basekit BT or something. But just giving soloQ survs the information to play properly? I'm a killer main but I take little satisfaction in winning because my opponents played badly or simply didn't have the tools to compete properly.

  • Well that first post is pretty obviously sarcastic when you open it up.

because they dont know what theyre doing

    ^^^^^^^^^^^

  • I still play killer but I just play ones that are less fun for survivors now.

  • Yep pretty much agree against any team that doesn't have at least 1 or 2 easy targets it's GG. I love piggy but I've just switched to nurse and other more rewarding killers.

  • Boons are fine so far. Circle of healing is not

  • I'm all for anything that makes console killer lives easier. Switched to pc and never looked back

Do you think that it is fair to Ghost Face when he gets revealed over obstacles not only because of technical issues that he has had for quite some time now, but also because of survivors using stretched resolution?

I understand that technically, stretched resolution is a way to play the game (I believe BHVR has stated this before, I am not 100% sure), but when it's 'abused' in this way, is it fair to the receiving end? I personally do not think so, and I am not too up to date on the dev teams thoughts/feelings towards stretched resolution, but I would love to get other opinions.

No it isn't fair. But bhvr seems unlikely to fix it so idk what to recommend.

  • The only meta perk survs need to buy is ds and coh. Ub, dh, wglf, bt are all free. Killers neec plague, trickster, bubba, clown, blight, hag(?). Could also throw in artist and pinhead depending on how you value pain reso and deadlock

On the other hand killers have access to noed nurse out of the box. So if they decide to just sack up and learn her then gg

  • Tbh this seems like an acceptable shortcut for a game designer to take

  • @GeneralV said:

Sprint Burst is the way, tho...

I'd agree with this if my soloQ teams didn't drag the killer to my gen right as I use it in most games. No, im not going to walk around the map to conserve it. Lithe is a good middle ground between busted and frustrating

  • For an example of how this pans out look at Overwatch. It launched with the ability to block opposing players and it ended up with certain high level players having near eternal queue times.

  • Nurse has been S tier since her inception in the game. I suppose she has been changed but she's never come close to being unseated as the best killer in the game.

  • Another anti loop hold w killer

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

  • I think what's happening is that as strong as some of these new perks are they simply aren't good enough to unseat the meta champs. They shouldn't be either. The top end power perks really need toned down

  • I'd say it's a combination of resident evil being mega popular and nemi being braindead easy to play. I use nemi when I'm stoned and want easy wins.

  • I can't think of another online game I've played where the filter isn't optional. I mean we have swearing in the tooltips for this game.

  • He was nerfed because internally BHVR seems to have made the stupid decision that every killer needs some kind of meter or ammo to go with their power. So they added overheat for no reason other than to have a little bar that fills up around his power picture. The addon changes were also made due to "just because" reasons. They've decided that all killers need 2 ultras and whatever amount of p/g/y/b addons they have.

His entire rework was driven because of some dumb design policy over actual need. The way BHVR would put it is his design was probably the last one that was "inconsistent" with the rest of the game. very silly stuff.

  • Nemesis is both a part of and victim of the game's problems at the moment. He's almost impossible to loop or mindgame in a chase so his counterplay is simply making as much distance as possible and burning pallets early. The least interesting playstyle in this game.

This will probably never be fixed either since he's just another in a long line of killers that play like this and at this point if they were to design the maps so M1 killers are usable at high levels it would probably make half the cast S tier.

  • As the game currently is nurse is one of the few killers that have an appropriate ratio of skill:power. She's very strong but use her poorly and you'll fail miserably, use her well and you almost never lose.

I do think her design is problematic in that she basically ignores all game mechanics and causes balancing issues for other perks. Until more pressing issues with the game are fixed though it doesn't seem like she needs to be a high prio.

  • I'd like to see some form of cosmetic reward. The BP are cool and I think they should stay but it'd be neat to have an indicator like devotion to indicate how many times you've hit rank one. Maybe give different borders or something on the end screen.

  • If you are just playing for strength then killers would be

LF, hag(free on some platforms), blight, plague, clown, artist, pinhead would get you the majority of meta killer perks.

For survivors it'd be Laurie and Mikaela. Most of the surv meta perks are free (DH, BT, UB) I'd recommend kate for windows if it's a newer player.

If you're wanting non-meta but fun perks that's a much broader list and a little subjective too imo.
