It's funny, I was just streaming a bit the other day when I said....ya know… I just think I'm bored with this game. I miss the old killers. Back to back to back duck walking for a minute while Jason looks for someone then 30 second or so on a gen to back to duck walking to ghoul to Jason to ghoul. All the while I find a fun build that is enjoyable and to use and has some success only to have it nerfed. I was getting bored sprint burst, vigil but it worked! Now it's nerfed. So no... In struggling to find joy in the game. I've completed all times, completed all the steam challenges, one P100. I'm honestly struggling to find joy.
I'm in the same boat. This game is boring now. We've had nothing really new in a while and I'm just playing to get rifts done. They really need to make a change to the BASE gameplay loop. Until that changes I feel this game will eventually die due to people being bored with nothing really to do.
-
Maybe they've changed it since but last I heard DCs count as escapes in the official stats. I'm not sure it that's still the case, it was months ago when I last heard about it.
-
IDK if its a bug or intentional, but getting deviousness is impossible with Springtrap. Axe hits and Axe grabs should count to deviousness not brutality. Only deviousness score event I saw from him is grabbing someone in the security room. But that is extremely rare since survivors shouldn't use doors anyway.
-
i played 1 or 2 games of killer last 2v8 and have played 0 so far this time around. Not worth the wait and the challenges can be done all on survivor anyway

usually for characters or a cosmetic

Also, where is the perk preview popup now? They weren't in Lara's bio in the store.
It's the square right on top of Claud's head on the far right.
This whole UI needs to be scrapped. No one complained about the UI before, they change it and now everyone is complaining about it. Stupid change.

Literally had a Nea tonight accuse me of cheating but wouldn't tell me what I did that was "cheating" in her eyes. She also told me to delete my account or she will release my address or something. Like, what is going on with people these days.
-
Have people also being noticing its harder to hit basic M1s now than before? Or am I going crazy?
-
I feel like just changing it to give aura reading for 60 sec then item disappears would be fine.
-
I've gotten this as well. It seems to only count points gained in trial not any bonus points awarded post trial.
-
I would revert the flashlight timing thing. Really annoying to deal with as killer. I would also give survivors (if its a "slug for 4k" scenario) the option to insta bleed-out after 60 sec or so. This way they don't have to waste their time waiting for the killer to chase down the last survivor. (Just had a match having to deal with that, really annoying.)

That is a possibility, but you are not unlucky, that's just how matchmaking works. The target killrate is 60%, so killers by design win more often than they lose. So if you play long enough as killer, your MMR is doomed to hit the soft cap, where on the survivor side all the SWFs are concentrated. Once again, try playing a hundred of soloQ games and see for yourself, I personally almost never see in my soloQ games things that usually happen in my killer games, as if these two queues lead to separate games.
I always wondered what would happen if they got rid of solo q and made everyone be on comms 100% of the time? I think after a week or 2 the kill rate on average would drop by 15-20%, or at least a 10% difference in kill rate. I wish they would try this in a modifier 1 day. I don't think it would ever be mainstream but if they make it mainstream I feel like balancing the game would be MUCH easier.
God knows they would never do this though.

I'm gonna get 100 cakes on all 3 P100s then get Mikala and Wesker to P100 or as close as i can get

I also feel that the kill rate for killers across the board is deceptive and doesn't take into account the pace of play. I've had many games where I get 3 or 4 kills but there is 1 to 0 gens remaining and I didn't start getting pressure until 2 gens were done and a 3rd about to be completed. Point here being that just cause I got a 4k it doesn't mean that pace of play isn't a problem.
What... What exactly is the complaint here? 'I won, but survivors got close/had a chance'?
Do we want games to close out with 2+ gens left all the time?
My point here was worded a bit wrong looking back at it. I meant that in terms of fun/enjoyment of the match just cause I got a 3 or 4k doesn't mean that the match was fun. (Kill rate doesn't really matter) Every game today (it feels like) is just a race to the finish. Survivors do nothing but sit on gens all day and killers have to do some tunneling/slugging etc. to keep up. It makes the match for both sides not as fun. I hate getting tunneled off hook when I barley had a chance to play the game, do gens, save people, occasionally have a good chase. For killer having 2 -3 hooks by the time 3 gens are done is really annoying cause now ur stressed out trying to generate pressure with only 2 gens to work with.
If this happened every now and then it would be fine but the fact that it is nearly every game for both sides makes the fun of a match not as fun as it was years ago. It makes perks really annoying too since everyone has to run the same stuff to keep up pace. I wish I could run some more silly perks or try new interesting builds but the pace of the game makes that impossible.

it's very survivor sided. it has some S+ tier loops underground, not even counting the portals.
Add to that, there's only two hooks, there's very safe windows and pallets, now bring in the protals and how they break chase, they have a mini cooldown so the killer will lag behind you, and it makes it so what would be a dead end in any of the other indoor maps or areas, here is a literal teleport. at least second floors have stagger and the like, portals have nothing going against them from the survivor side.
You are forced to slug if they choose to bring chases downstairs. and it's a bad map in general for any m1 killer, as i said, an extremely safe and always spawning loop below + portals that interrupt your chase timer, and upstairs you'll be left with gens spread around with this huge block in the middle, very easy to finish gens up there, you'll have to patrol corners of the map, so without something like nurse or blight upsatirs is bad, but not as bad as below, below is the worse.
And this map comes up so much, and it really is a bad map, just a gimmick, a pretty one i'll give them that. i love the details in each room and tunnel, but for one, outside is very plain, clearly all the effort went underground, and gameplay wise , undeground is awful for the killer, you best bet is to give those gens and do what every survivor complains about: patrol gens upstairsMy thoughts exactly. This map is a joke. I played a lot of games on it mostly killer and I think I got smoked most of the time with m1 killers. Gen spread is too far, main building is a maze and portals make survivors unhittable. I wish there was a delay of like a second before they can go in so you can hit them like you do over window/pallet vaults. M1 killers will lose automatically on this map, and the stronger killers besides Nurse are going to have a tough time in the main building. I don't know what they were thinking releasing this map in its current state to live servers.
-
I was able to do it using Dark Devotion
-
Gens have a cap of 8 regression events before they can no longer be damaged. Maybe you hit the gen a total of 8 times with regression. Regression is kicks and perks that cause the gen to lose progress.
-
Make corrupt intervention in its current state basekit or make it so 4 survivors can't work on 4 different gens at the same time.
The game is too fast paced and that's unhealthy for this game. I can see new players quitting this game easily b/c they have no time to play a match. Game is boring since all survivors do is gens and they complete them at a ridiculous rate even if you end up getting 3-4k at the end.
-
I started playing during lunar new year 2020, just before Trickster PTB
-
I think the game is in a very bad state. The pace of the game has gotten way too fast. Solo queue is bad but not as bad for me as other people. I get competent teammates about 60% of the time give or take. On killer nearly every game has been miserable. Survivors are really good at looping tiles and pumping out gens. I have no time to generate any pressure. I'm very close to just quitting killer altogether. Survivor has been mostly autopilot for me. Just do gens, open door and leave. It's really boring, but its better than getting beaten senseless every game on killer side.
i would love to see some data on the average match time and how many gens get done per match. My games on both roles 5 gens get done and gates are opened in like less than 10 min a majority of the time.
Anyone else think the game has gotten really fast? Cause I certainly feel like games are too fast nowadays.
-
I think I've been dealing with the same thing. Nearly every killer game for the last 3-4 weeks has been way to difficult and stressful. Solo queue is more fun at the moment. It doesn't make sense. I'm not a great killer and haven't had a crazy win streak to raise my MMR above my "normal" levels. This was happening before the event. I think either MMR has been changed again or the survivor player pool has increased and they have gotten a lot better over the last month. I've never experienced anything like this. It doesn't make sense that games have been this bad for this long.
-
Honestly I think the game today is way too fast. I play killer mostly and even in games where I play well gens are popping left and right or they are about to pop. Therefore I am forced to tunnel to create enough pressure to match the gen pressure survivors put on.
I do think this game is in a very bad state at the moment though. Solo queue is still very unplayable with a couple of games where it is decent. Killer for me at least has been near unplayable. I'm just not enjoying it. Nearly every game for the last 3 weeks i've gotten my ass kicked. Regardless of what killer I play. Some reasons for this I think are: I've gotten worse at the game, my MMR is way too high and survivors in general have gotten better.
Anyone else dealing with this as well? Like their matches are really bad and have been for a while?
-
Its funny when I play as him I feel like his power is a little slow and could need some tweaks to feel smooth. But when I play against him, I get hit by everything. It's really annoying.
-
I would have to disagree. I think hook times/stages are fine as is and shouldn't be changed in any way. I haven't seen anyone complain about hook stages or time. Besides gens are still popping extremely fast in most games.
-
I'm surprised it only took 1 game for Myers. I've given up on trying adepts on killer. I just think the game is too fast today for some killers. You have to be really lucky, play really well or both just to secure the adept.
I wonder what other people think of this? Are killer adepts worth it today?

Hello,
I'm glad that no one can see their own MMR. I think otherwise total chaos would break out and a toxic city would be inevitable. There are already a lot of streamers and players who think they have a high MMR or are imagining it. Last weekend was by far the sweatiest weekend I've ever played. To be honest, I don't even know if it was because of my MMR. I also don't know if I'm high, medium or low, but what bothers me is what Dead by Daylight has become.
This game just doesn't compare to 2016 anymore and I get that, but Dead by Daylight is just a race now. Genrush versus tunneling. That's all this game is anymore.
A chase or a fun build only works against weak opponents now, because otherwise the generators fly around your ears and the game is over in 5 minutes. You can no longer play normally and I find that sad.
If you want to level up, you have to play a meta build, and that's frustrating. It's bad enough that there's a meta in a game, and YT and Twitch have contributed a lot to that. There's just too much copying going on, and the result is a boring disaster. But that's just my opinion
Do you agree that DBD has become too fast, or am I the only one with this opinion?
Cannot agree more with this. On both sides I feel like the game is too fast. Solo queue I get to end game a lot now even though I die like 85-90% of the time. On killer if I play a bad game I get crushed if I play a good game they still get all the gens done and have a chance at 1-2 escapes. It's insane. Really frustrating to play killer atm. Idk what needs to be done to fix this but it is not good for the game. I wish the devs would share some data on avg game time and avg number of gens completed. It has to be near 5 complete per game now.
-
I know steam has a maintenance thing every Tuesday at 6 or 7pm which is when DBD goes down. But that is only for 10-15 min once a week. I'm not sure what your problem is.
-
Where is the roadmap posted? I can't find it anywhere. Was it on livestream from yesterday?

Yeah that is gonna be fun. The game feels so much better now with the slider.

Plaything needs to be killswitched. It is busted right now since no one can see where there totem is.

I noticed it too. I thought it was a bug with the FOV slider and lobby UI.

Have you had a good run lately?
You may have just jumped a bracket and you'll need to eat a few losses to re-adjust.
I find its heavily influenced by when you play too, the players mid afternoon are a different breed from those at 11pm.
Games the last 2 days were much better than they were earlier in the week. More on par with the type of teams I'm used to. Maybe it was just a glitch or something. I play killer pretty much exclusively at night since survivors during the day are much better than what I get at night.
-
The 4k bonus for Deviousness is a nice placeholder for now but they do need to give some buffs for certain killer powers. The 1 category that needs to be reworked is Sacrifice. I think it is impossible for a killer to get max in that category even with a perfect 12 hook , 4k game.
-
No, the perk still sucks. The smart move in chase is to lead the killer AWAY from active gens not TOWARDS them. They need to completely change the function to something else. I thought reversing the function would be nice but that is problematic as well. Imagine running a killer in 1 corner of the map while your team is doing gens 8% faster in the other corner. This perk needs a rework but rework into what I don't know.

Honestly I think we periodically experience rubber banding from the algorithm. There’s constant movement of people going up and down in rank and I think “bubbles” manifest until they even out then clump up again. Depending on where you are relative to this bubble may explain what you are experiencing.
Maybe this is what happened? My games tonight (1/24) were much more "normal" for what I'm used to going against. My last match was against a bully squad who made me feel like crap so I ended my session after that game. Hopefully games will be more "normal" in the foreseeable future.

They definitely reverted this. My killer games are completely random and I get matched with Blights who have thousands of hours as a solo queue player. My matchmaking was only more strict for a few weeks.
I don't think they did. All my killer games this week have been sweaty and stressful. Barely able to get any hooks, survivors loop really well, gens fly, it's miserable. SoloQ is more fun right now.

MMR isn't real, it's just a slot machine that gaslights the playerbase into thinking they suck, The reason I know this is because I somehow got paired up with Lilith ######### Omen of all people not too long ago
I sincerely wish I was kidding
To be fair Lilith is not the best survivor in the world. I watch him die a lot on stream, so I think his survivor MMR is probably around that of an average survivor player. If you got paired up against his Blight though that is a different story.
MMR does suck though.
-
P100 Blight
P100 Spirit
P50 Meg
Have a few other killers and survivors P12 or so. Working on P100 Meg atm.
-
11 AM EST is when it begins I pretty sure
-
Something I've noticed is that there are some hard days and easy days for killer on rank reset or a couple days after. I know that grades have nothing to do with MMR but it feels like I deal with the same situation every month. I have a day or 2 of sweaty games and a day or 2 of easy games then it goes back to "normal". On survivor side it is harder to tell. Some games are easy and others a little tougher.
I don't know if MMR gets changed on rank reset day or if it's just me. Grades and MMR have nothing to do with each other but on rank reset day if feels like they are connected in some way. I don't know if there is anyway to prove this theory but I go through this every rank reset.
-
It might work. But i feel like killers have to tunnel cause survivors are too damn efficient. Doing gens is boring and I think most players have gotten better at looping over the last 2 years. Most games that I play on both sides get to end game. Whether I'm playing the strongest killer or the weakest. Even when I put a lot of pressure on a team they still can get through 4-5 gens.
At some point the survivor objective needs to be changed into something else or they need to be given additional tasks to escape. But first maps need to be reworked so all of them are balanced. Then killers need to be buffed/nerfed.
How long that will take is anybody's guess. I wish BHVR would take a year to focus on just rebalancing the game instead of making new content every few months.
Until that happens we are stuck with the current meta of tunneling/slugging and gen rushing.

There are 3 commonly accessible ways to counter flashlights.
1) Stare at a wall. You do that already, so that's good. It means you have gotten used to looking out for it. But it's also important to press yourself as close to the wall as you can. That way, the survivor has much less of an angle to blind you from. Unfortunately there are some situations where the game will do a funny and you still get blinded. I am not sure how exactly this is caused but for the most part flashlights work fine and you won't be blinded when you press yourself close to a wall.
2) Get rid of the flashlight. That doesn't mean you have to destroy it but it can help to check around corners or other possible hiding spots when you saw someone had a flashlight. Often enough, it will suffice to just chase after them for a bit, maybe get an easy hit let them make distance and then go back to the other survivor. They will not make it back in time to blind you.
There is an alternative way, to get a survivor out of their hiding spot, which is just walking and checking spots for a few seconds and when it looks like you're sure nobody else is around you go back to the survivor on the ground and just look down on them. You don't pick them up, you just look down. Because survivors do not have an infinite amount of time to get a flashlight save, they will try to get into position early on. This leads to them coming out of their hiding spot when you stand there and pretend to pick up. Now you just follow the same steps from above and you should be fine.
3) If nothing else helps, there is still Lightborn (teachable perk of the Wraith). Lightborn is not a super good perk and I wouldn't recommend it unless there are at least 3 flashlights in your lobby but it does the job perfectly fine and chances are that a group with this many flashlights will do everything for a few flashlight saves. If you pretend like you just countered the flashlights with the strategies above, it will be really hard to tell and they'll keep trying that, wasting so much time that you can still win.
Also, when someone shines a flashlight on you, always make sure to look down (as well as it's not happening on a staircase). For some reason it is easier to blind a killer that looks at a survivor from an angle or up in the sky. But if you look all the way down, you can see from where the light is coming from, so you won't lose them, while not being vulnerable to the blind.
Hope this helps. See you in the fog.
Lightborn is Hill Billy perk not Wraith, Wraith is Shadowborn
-
I don't think so but I don't know for certain. Try it and see what happens.
-
I think survivor is too easy and killer is too stressful. Most of my games on both roles 5 gens get done. Whether I get 3 or 4 kills or I escape or not. I would love to see what the avg gens per game stat is for the last 3 months or so. It has to be 4.0 or higher. I also think that survivors skill wise have gotten a lot better. It is hard for me to end chases quickly. Maps have busted setups that make avg chases so much harder. There are too many points of safety that I don't think some survivors know how to loop well. Some can but most just go from pallet - vault - strong tile - pallet etc.
This game needs to get some balance changes but there is too much RNG involved that I think it is near impossible for this game to ever be balanced. This game is getting boring. Even the halloween event coming up won't fix it.
I think we need to get a new game mode that will change how the game is played but still give us the opportunity to gain points and upgrade characters. The current state is too stale to have any fun right now.
-
Killer at night is a lot easier for me. Most of the day if I play killer I get survivors who are really effective and smash 5 gens before I can even get a reasonable amount of pressure. When I play survivor it is much less stressful and games are over pretty fast as long as my teammates aren't eggs. Most games that I lose I feel it's because I played poorly rather than the killer playing well.
I think something needs to be changed about the survivor objective. It is way too easy to pop 5 gens and leave nowadays. Most killers who play casually (like myself) don't have the time or patience to get good and play at a high level every game. But most games you have to play like that if the survivors are being efficient.
It's really boring. Something needs to change soon.
-
Honestly, just keep practicing. Don't worry what others say about you and your playstyle. This community is one of the most entitled communities that complains about every little thing. It's embarrassing. I had a game with Hag earlier and I went against a TTV. They complained about me camping and tunnelling and reported me for it and told me to "get good". Hag is not a chase killer she is a territorial killer who needs to defend an area. Camping and slugging is her optimal play style not chasing. So yeah. Keep practicing and ignore what other people say in EGC. Most of the time it's salt anyway.
-
EMPs need to be reworked. They are way to strong still. It renders this killer to an M1. He is at his strongest when he can teleport on top of people and end chases in seconds. I wish you could tag survivors with your weapon as well as the biopods. I also think that Singularity should be able to disable the supply cases for a short time like 30 - 60 sec.
-
I agree. Killer is nothing but sweat squads. Map design is awful and hold W strat is unbeatable. Gens are too easy and I honestly feel like survivor currently requires so little skill to play. I'm a killer main but have played both pretty equally over the last year or so. It's so easy to do gens and gen rush killers. I don't even go into games with the intention of gen rushing killers it's just so easy do.
I also hate the entitlement and toxicity of this community. I just played a game with Blight and got cooked and all I get is the "ggez, ur trash" and stuff like that. Like no one has any respect anymore.
I am a P100 Blight but I'm by no means a "God Tier" Blight. I just really like the killer and on a good day I can be decent with him. People just seem to forget that prestige level and skill level are not the same thing. Not everyone is trying to be an expert killer in this game. Some people just want to have some chill games. I honestly wish there was a way to hide your prestige level in the endgame screen. People will always judge you poorly if you're a high prestige killer and play awful.
Something needs to change. I feel killer is so much harder now than it was a couple of years ago.
-
I just played 2 games on that map with Wraith and Pig. Both games were awful. Main building is OP with god windows. Pallets and tiles connect too well. It's rare that there is a dead zone for survivors to run into. Map needs to be completely reworked.
Badham is the same way with the houses.

Steam usually has a maintenance update and check on tuesday evenings so that is probably it, usually between 6-7 pm NA east time. It's a steam thing not a DBD server thing.
So that is the problem, give it 30 min - 1 hr and it should be back online
Should honestly be less time than this but I usually wait 1 hr or close to an hr for it to be done
