  • I stopped playing regularly bc of Diminishing returns. I play both sides and it ruins my favorite builds like pallet break speed and repair/heal :(

DBD introduced map-specific queues for Fazbear's and now for Ormond (first Cabin and now the Mine). How does everyone feel about this different queue? It's nice to go to a specific map to learn and practice on them. Killers like Ghostie can utilize learning maps to get good stalking locations, for example. Survivors can learn pathing from pallets, window, ect. (I recently found a new pathing from the stairs in main to the window up that I hadn't put two and two together on, something that would have taken me ages if not for repeatedly playing on the one map).

What would it be like to have a Week Long Map Showcase for 1 out of the 40 maps every week? Could it have unique aspects, like maybe seeing more of certain types of killers or perks in play? Is there benefit for having Map-Specific queues with rotating maps every week for a short while?

What have other people experienced on the Ormond-Mine Map Showcase?

With the nerfing of maps a while back, I enjoy having a guaranteed map and being able to practice and study with it

  • I thought the same thing! Either way they need it buffed, I love non meta perks like this

We got an answer on Twitter, it's intended lol. I can't believe that they couldn't find anyone else to voice act the sounds.

I am so bummed :( Even if there was a VA that made it similar would be good, too!

  • thank you, that was it!

Can confirm, additional perk presets are still on the way as part of Phase 2! We'll have more to share about this soon, so sit tight.

    Awesome, thanks!

  • Masquerade is awesome! Sad to see it go. Wonder what they’ll do for a different theme…

  • Spine Chill with vaulting before the Summer of ‘22 meta shake up was my GOAT. Look at how they massacred my boy 😓

  • I am sad as both a killer and survivor player. I liked being able to bring offerings for specific maps for specific builds. Sometimes I would purposefully go to The Game as a killer to try a pallet-chewing build. I would go to Hawkins as survivor for a stealth build with Lucky Break or go there with Windows of Opportunity. It makes me a little bummed bc I liked being able to do those things without being at the mercy of getting Nostromo Wreckage 20 flarkin’ times(I hate that map on either side).

  • Please undo the change

  • YES! I’m so confused by the switch? Why would green be low tier and considered bad? I associate the color green with good and it’s really hard to change in my mind.

  • I’m concerned that there will be no incentives to play survivor, more than ever when this HUGE license drops. Why would I play survivor through a never-ending hell of ONLY Springtrap? I’m not saying make the game easier. There should be a crazy bloodpoint boost. Something. When Springtrap releases I’m trying to prepare myself to not play the game for a month bc no one wants to play against one killer 24/7. Killer queue will be atrocious. Surprised we didn’t get a survivor with this chapter.

  • I also cannot stand the blue. Unless you are a fresh no hours player, the color change is really off putting.

Weirdly enough, they actually didn't get rid of the passive gain, it's now 5 shards per, not sure if it's still experience based or just every round. I actually know this for fact because I was at 95/100 rift fragments for Tier 36, accomplished no goals this last round, and now am at Tier 37. Honestly I thought at first they got rid of it to.

Why did they nerf passive so hard? 😭

  • Nostromo Wreckage is terribly designed. 80% of the map is just random crap. Absolutely HATE going on that map on both killer and survivor. And I get it all the time! 😭

That is probably old information. Non-competitive "party" games do not use MMR. I don't think DBD was ever a party game, but even if it was, that died when MMR became the standard.

    Very true

    also eh

I think it more has to do with how the mindset has shifted towards competitiveness.

Something that really bothers me is that the Devs say DBD is not a competitive game but they adjust it as one. A non-competitive game is fun bc everything is busted. But with a competitive game everything is made to be equal in a sense. (If that makes sense. I agree it’s leaning competitive.)

What do you think about Freddy krueger now?

As someone who plays both sides, I think he’s awesome! I think that making any clock work makes it completely fair to teleport to healing sleeping survivors. His snare being a skill shot looks cool and actually has something for you to do instead of hoping someone steps on the old snare. The exploding pallet is dope. I love it, hope they keep it where it’s going just with appropriate tweaks after testing

I always loved how Legions chase music changes depending on the mix tapes addons they have equipped so think this would be nice for Trickster to have as well.

Would love to hear the iri disc addon incorporated into his chase music given the addon description.

I don't normally like going against him but this would make it somewhat bearable for me lol

    Thoughts?

    That sounds dope

  • Deathslinger Add-on replacements;

    The mending ones,

    Mangled ones,

    Reel-speed ones(or buff),

    the aim-down sights-movement speed ones.

They’re boring and aren’t significant enough. Never would I pick them but to see their uselessness.

The Nightmare COMPLETE REWORK. Playing him is the opposite of fun. His Power is so weak it feels like you’re not doing anything(which you basically aren’t).

  • The mending add-ons are boring. Can we get like range increase or instant reload after being stunned? Change it up 🕺

yes it does, and i don't argue that. however, at the start of the slugging meta the rate of players leaving as accelerated and the wave is less pronounced with a smaller cleft. Relative to previous years this variation is worse and with a steeper drop off. not saying the game is dead or dieing im saying the recent behavior and metas of the game are causing problems with player retention.

What do you think started the “slug meta”? Idk what started it

  • @bleep275 said:

Looking at the steam charts there has been a steep decline in player base. With the peak for the year being in June at around 99k players. The game is now 36k on December 16th. Now after the Vecna/Laura Croft chapters in the June time frame, it makes sense that there would be a surge in players for the release and decrease afterwards.

That being said the decline was very stable until around September, which is when the decline in player base starts to accelerate. With only some resurgence for the Halloween events and 2v8. After those events things got wayyy worse.

The timing of the drop-off seems to align with the introduction of the finisher mori and the current slugging epidemic in the game. I think the constant slugging is genuinely killing the game. I know of at least 8 people who stopped playing because of this new slug "meta". I myself have decided to stop playing survivor due to it.

so my theory of the plummet is in PART due to the slugging and tunneling issue. What do you guys think is the cause?

I think a lot of people have started to wake up to the fact that if you stop enjoying something you should take a break. I just came back from almost a 3-month break. There are a lot of things, though:

    -Breaks

    -Slugging

-“Recycled” Killers(I genuinely enjoy Houndmaster though, I think she’s got a cool different power)

-Game not being playtested(the bugs are insane)

    -Toxic player base 😭

You lost me at "mending simulator." What are we supposed to do to fix killer if everything that inconveniences survivors is exaggerated as a simulator?

The thing about it is that the mend add-ons don’t make playing Slinger anymore fun for me as Slinger. It’s just boring :/

  • Haven’t gotten it enough yet to know

  • Bring back some jolly snowmen! There should be a mix of them and the spooky ones.

it’s ironic how fast they nerfed those perks in the 8.3.2 hotfix and now nobody uses the perks.

Machine Learning: not a lot of people used it but ngl when it got value the 60 seconds did feel like a very long time but still didn’t warrant the nerf.

Zanshin: even when they buffed it to show survivors that drop pallets I still barely seen people use it. It’s mainly only good on Phead since pre dropping is ok against him

Predator: No one used it but nurse and even now nurses don’t use it anymore and just opted back to nowhere to hide since it’s busted asf on her.

WGLF: helped counter slugging but apparently it was used to pick up survivors in the killers face (attack cd is 2.7 seconds and 150% wglf took 6 seconds to fully heal) so u would be able to down them before they even got the heal off. Wglf didn’t die off as hard as the others but the pick rate definitely went down a lot after the speed revert.

I don’t know why they nerfed the perks so fast after them being out for only 2 weeks post buff.

Why did they nerf WGLF? I loved that perk and I could barely get value when I played it bc I could never loop long enough to then pick someone up

  • @rysm said:

Did this not happen a few patches ago…? Or was there another nerf??

Apparently this vault was too close to the portal : it allowed survivors to loop the killers too easily for so long or it was a kind of very strong/infinite window…

I'm not trying to just be mean to everyone in the UI design team, but this one ain't it. It looks weird not only because we're not used to it but because it's more complicated than what we had. Search bar is too big and the tab in one place don't look clean at all and I don't think "just get used to it" is a good logic for this subject. No one liked in the PTB and nothing was done to change it.

    What do you guys think?

I am NOT a fan of these changes. The portraits are small, customizations are organized in a funky order, and all the portraits are smaller. I am with you. Please revert these changes!

Honestly, even if it's sad that they made this rework for two years just to cancel it, Twins right now is my most playable killer and I enjoy them a lot. Hope they will stay like this.

Do you have to slug to get kills? Genuine question

  • Buff Spine Chill, please! They nerfed it into uselessness in ‘22

  • @TieBreaker said:

I wonder if they plan on reworking the rework, or just sticking with this version.

I do wonder bc many of the Twins I’ve gone against slug.

As the title suggests, if you were a DBD developer:

What would you most urgently add to the game? How would your gaming experience be significantly improved?
Or any skins or game modes? A killer suggestion or game balance adjustments?

Your personal most desired thing for the game.

I'm very excited to see what the community thinks and what kind of things will pop up here.

For me it would be server-side validation / useful cheat protection. I especially hate subtle cheating and constantly questioning your own sanity. In my opinion, this is long overdue.

The License I want most: The Thing(1982)

I think The Thing and R. J. Mac ready would be a wonderful killer and survivor addition to the game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/418729/slugging-at-5-gens-is-unnecessary

Your complaint is literally "The killer didn't let me win" and by going by your own words you do sound entitled yes

I didn’t mean for it to be they let us win, I just wanted to get an unhook and not get slugged. It’s more fun to be running around then dying than just lying on the ground and no game happening. Yes, I did want some mercy. I didn’t expect a free escape, I just wanted to play more

  • I enjoyed playing as Billy before Overdrive was a thing, but even more so after. I’m terrible at looping, but I love going against Hillbilly. I think it’s so fun to take chase with Hillbilly because if he’s using the chainsaw it’s high risk high reward. I believe this bc if he hits he gets pressure, but if he misses and you can loop decently he can waste a great deal of time trying to get you with the chainsaw. It feels fast-paced and exciting to me to both play as and go against him.

  • @HerInfernalMajesty said:

Survivor mains specifically, when do you have most fun against a Killer?

Is it a match filled with back and forth moments? A couple of hooks followed by a couple of generators after a long chase? Maybe perhaps the obvious: not being bled out, camped, or tunneled?

Survivors, what are the hallmarks of a 10/10 game for you?

A back and forth match that could go either way, where everyone is on two hook states before the first kill. Ideally no one goes to second stage from their first hook. Even when we(my friends and I) die in these matches, the outcome feels earned. Going against a killer that goes for 12 individual hooks is one of the best, thrilling, high stakes feelings that are usually one in a million but make the best moments with friends and have you jumping out of your chair with anticipation.

Let me preface this, unlike DnD, I have a very personal connection to Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider Legend and Angel Of Darkness are games I grew up with when I was younger and Legend especially holds a very close part in my heart as before my Nana passed she would play it with me at her old age and then even do her best to play pretend with me after cause I always wanted to be Lara lol.

But with that said…my point which people got VERY angry about is being further proven correct that DBD is moving away from horror entirely. Im sorry but what does Tomb Raider actually have to do with horror? The closest 'horror' Tomb Raider I can think of is well Angel Of Darkness and thats not even horror so much as a darker aesthetic so it still doesn't make sense to me that this was chosen as an IP.

This decision REEKS of cash grab and is just one more step of DBD moving away from horror as a whole and moving into 'Asymmetrical fortnite'

I believe the non-cash grab reasoning would be that yes, she’s not from a horror franchise, but she is a SURVIVOR. If it was any less reason than that it would not be justifiable in my mind. My head cannon when ignoring the money trail is that they’re leaning into the survivor aspect with her Chapter. I completely see where you’re coming from though. The game has not been meeting the horror standards for a while. I’d personally like a game mode(NOT Lights Out) where the only changes are the fog is a bit thicker (not insane like lights out) and no Terror Radius. I think the best they’ve hit the Horror mark is with Myers. He can be terrifying.

So I've been trying out Map and Keys more, and both of them can actually be comparably good to toolboxes and medkits (which for the sake of your reading time I'll highlight below)... but both of them suffer from the same problems:

    1. Their effects (unlike flashlights, medkits and toolboxes) are inconsistent between rarity.
    2. They are thus very add-on (even perk) reliant. Without certain add-ons their usefulness is greatly diminished.
    3. There is no cheap and cheerful variant (minimum of green for both).
    4. Their non iri variants are pretty bad, which makes the only useful versions of them the very rare iri items that you can't acquire easily... and all other versions are trash.

So to elucidate a little more:

    Maps

The problem with all maps is the range is short at 8m, and there is this need to "discover" items.

    However with add-ons and/or Detective's Hunch:

    • Rubber/Odd Stamp - You NEED a stamp... increasing your range gets rid of the discovery problem, especially with 2 stamps... alternatively combined with Red Twine and these add-ons make maps amazing. As you roam around doing your regular business, you'll discover most auras without even trying... it's god tier info.
    • Red Twine - This item is incredible... just because it gives you totems. For any totem build, this is by far the easiest method of finding them, and it makes hexes VERY easy to deal with.
    • Crystal Bead - Pillar of Light, great for using the likes of Prove Thyself or as a budget Empathetic Connection. Fun but outclassed by other add-ons...

Iri maps are actually awesome. On top of gens you also get to track hatch, hooks and exit gate switches, which is equivalent to an immediately available combined Clairvoyance and Sabotuer. The bloodsense maps from the Bloodmoon event are even more amazing, with all these benefits and with a limited Empathy thrown in too...

The standard green maps however don't get any of these luxuries... they need the other add-ons to get just 1 of the things the iri maps get.... and without those add-ons you just get gens, which just isn't enough value alone, making them suck... you can shore up with add-ons, but you're losing out on something...

    Keys

Keys Have a similar problem, without add-ons they almost do nothing.... the green key literally does nothing.

However with add-ons and/or Open Handed:

    • Blood Amber - Of course… its wall hacks on the killer and is amazing at surviving mind games at loops. The duration debuff is a much needed and fair debuff but...
    • Prayer Rope/Beeds - Gives you 10s/15s extra duration, basically a requirement for Blood Amber... and sadly both for Broken Key (10s) and Dull Key (5s)... compared to Skeleton keys (30s) 😑
    • We've also got range add-ons, survivor aura addons and Key saving add-ons... however all points can be made without diving into this.

Basically is the iri key or bust. The 30s duration on these aura reads is what makes the key good. The base times for the broken key and especially the dull key are woefully pitiful, making their usage pointless...

Especially the green key... you'd think with it at least being unable to open the hatch it'd be good for aura reading, but nope... it's crap... and since hatch requires you to be last player standing the dull keybis basically crap as well...

    Summary

So both Keys and Maps have the same issue... their iri forms/at their best they are great… but the non iri forms are basically useless without perks/add-ons, and usually even then are falling short.... and even the greens aren't common... the only versions worthwhile are the iri variations...

Meanwhile the cheapest medkits and yellow/green toolboxes are good or best variations of each... and far easier to attain.

Really they don't need a lot of buffs... just their lower tier variants need to be made to not completely suck imo 😒

Yes, please. Buff/Rework maps and keys 💪
