Toxicity almost every game...
this is what I get for trying to play a m1 killer nowadays…. there was a TTV in there that roasted me in their twitch and said some *unpleasant things that are not appropriate for this forum post. The whole game was just a humiliation ritual + genrushing + t bagging at exit gate, refusing to leave until they were downed (and then the heal tech so I can't pick up).
Below I am posting the times for that match - it was a measly 7 and a half mins. 2 rounds prior (which I honestly wish I recorded/took screenshots of EGC but I didn't b/c I didnt think to at the time) - it was also more toxicity.
that 3rd game there (in the bottom) I came across another bully squad. 4 gens had been popped by the time mentioned (4:46) (when I just quit b/c I was done being humiliated/t bagged) I had not managed to get even 2 hook states in. 3 flashlights, 3 lithes, 1 SB, 4 locker stun perks and atleast 1 flashbang …. at least my lightborne countered half of that but still….
from my experience - almost 1 in 5 games i have to deal with this or something like it. Its either 1. I face newbies that do not understand base mechanics OR I face a 40khr bully squad OR (growing increasingly rare) a normal match.

I am well aware my grammer is bad - I'm tired, frustrated, and a bit upset - so srry bout that. I just wish this kinda stuff did not happen every other game. (or in cases like tn, 2 out of the 3 games I played before ragequitting)
also sry if that leaked any1. I tried to cover it up to avoid exposing them but it was messy
Eh, after awhile you'll get desensitized to it after awhile. Best to pay it no mind. If all they got is petty insults and death threats the novelty wears off after the third time it happens. Not condoning it but thats just the way it is.
The biggest reason that this happens is that BHVR doesn’t take this kind of harassment seriously. People say stuff like that because they know they won’t get banned for it. I’ve reported many people for similar hateful stuff and most of my reports never get responses.
Just take it as what it is two patchetic excuses of a person who think insulting someone in the game matters at all. If the person said those in Twitch or anything close to that you can report the channel for it.

BHVR should really take this kind of harassment seriously, specially when people go out of their way to harass you.
We could have a much better environment for our community if BHVR really treated this like harassment and not like "jokes". Why some people can wish the worst for my family because i've won or lost in a videogame? Why people treat this BHVR like normal?
I can understand the frustration but you can turn the chat window off. You never have to look at it if you dont want to and honestly it's a waste of energy to engage with it. I Leave mine open simply to type GG and LOL when people rage, it doesn't affect me.
If it does affect you as an aspiring Killer player or while playing low tier Killers, I would turn it off.
Just remember that they're probably gonna go against a sweaty killer later on.
I know people can be toxic in this game and basically in any online game. Still I share this conversation I had once in the match start menu chat and the end game chat after.
I checked a fellow survivors Steam profile (I quite often do this for just my own amusement of checking how many hours someone has. It does not effect me I will play the match anyway just curious. I might try to help newer people by taking hits if they are in trouble too so its for that info). I noticed that he had listed his name in his profile and was named Leo. I just commented something about it as it happens to be my fathers name too and its not the most common name to run into. Well the conversation gets cut off as the match starts. We play the match I think it was quite an even match and I think he died in the end. Well he tells me in the end game chat to tell my father he has a good name. I answered that its quite hard as he is six feet under (meaning he is dead as that is usually how I reference it if someone asks about my parents). He goes oh sorry to hear that… but he still has a good name and I said yeah it is. He then told me to gl nx and we both went to our next match.
I share it here to show you that most I would still claim are not in the game to be toxic but just normal people playing the game. I would still go with the thing that even on good interaction beats any stupid insults I see from people who don't matter to me at all. That person I told you about mattered more as he was genuine and good person that conversation sticks with me not any insults I have heard in this game.
Regardless why is it okay to act like a sore winner?
I do wonder if this is for the same reason that they don't make their MMR public or do anything real to combat the most toxic practices in this game, which is that it's so overwhelmingly prevalent that if they crack down on it for real, a very large chunk of the player base will get banned/stop playing… I think the new MMR is no less suspicious than the old MMR for backfilling players into lobbies regardless of their MMR… its suspected they do this because of queue times, likewise they don't take nearly any action for toxicity, I wonder if it's for queue times…
it would be nice if you didnt have to close chats because survivors want to be abusive to other humans
Saying this on a forum thread that is not about balance, but about toxicity, only tells me you are probably just as toxic as the people in the screenshots.
well for starters - the killers I chose to play at that point in time are publically agreed to be in the lower sections of the C- tier. They work okay in niches but are generally outclassed by many other killers, especially since the whole pallet density update.
but secondly - whether I win or lose - I should not have to be put into a position where I restrict myself from saying “ GG “ or “glnm” simply because a large portion of the community wishes ill on their opponents simply because they can.
Thirdly - and finally - saying that all I ever want to do is “win every match” is factually correct - do you know anyone who actively wants to lose a game for honest reasons??? Using that as an argument to try and belittle me does nothing at best- and at worst paints you as one of the people who may have been one of the ones who cursed me out that game. ( are you ? )
For anyone else who wants to say I’m bad at the game, I’m trash, or whatever - I have 80% + KR on 5 different killers as of the time of writing this. I just had a couple rough matches as a weak killer vs toxic try hard sweats
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the recent MMR reset made you a litle more likely to get toxic comments… because my overall experience with toxicity in DbD is that it decreased over the years, as MMR was implemented and then became stricter over time, and also as the survivor role got nerfed and started requiring more skill.
Seriously, from 2017 to 2020, I remember toxicity was almost every match. All the time, regardless of winning or losing, there was someone insulting me for "camping and tunneling" even when I actively avoided chasing a recently unhooked survivor. Bringing certain perks (like NOED) was almost certain to being met with thrashtalking in the endgame chat as well. On the lattest years,, that has become way more rare, I sometimes play for whole nights without meeting a single toxic comment… but after the MMR reset, suddenly it feels I'm meeting thrashtalkers with some frequency again. Not as much as in old DbD, but more than it was a month ago.
I think that's because a lot of toxicity in this game comes from people who don't want to learn and become better at the game, but instead blame their poor performance on the game or on the oponent not following their made up rules. Good players usually just understand that some less fun playstiles are part of the game and don't get angry at the oponent for wanting to win.
People do report, all the time. The problem is that BHVR rarely does anything with the reports
I think it’s more about money. They don’t want to ban players who are spending $ on the game
I was going to open a topic about this. I just came out of a game that had 3 player with high level (70-100) while i am around 5-6 with the korean killer. They were Toxic in-game and in the lobby they mocked me a lot. I reported them without thinking twice. Still when i play killer with peers of my level i tend to be a bit more aggressive and less ""polite"" than before. I am ANGRY when I play now. I like this game but the community seems to be worse than ever and i am really sad about this. Also in the lobby i don't shut up anymore and i start offending these toxic players and their whole family, sadly. I am so frustrated that i am really close to stop playing this game once and for all. Also the new MMR sucks hard. 50% of the time i am against people a lot stronger than me that i am a casual player.

close the game chat if you cant regulate yourself due to insults in egc.
Just to prove that they do take actions to reports of end game statements. I think I reported this one like early this year. Would be nice if it would show the report day too.
Thats abit underwhelming if it took them so long to take action. They at that point could end up "banning" people who arnt even playing anymore.
Its the backlog they have with reports most likely. They had the same problem with tech support. It also could be that the person finally got enough of those reports that they did something. Could speculate more but who really knows. That was most likely part of the ban wave they had before the anniversary event started.
"appropriate action" could be anything or nothing.
If it effects you that much that it makes you that much more aggressive then close the chat. It's that easy. You don't have to see it. Console players can't, and they live in bliss.
as a former console player - I can hard disagree - the controls are a lot stiffer + less opportunity for techs/absurdly cool tricks to catch survivors. lol
I have sadly see a increase in toxicity sadly when solo team vs a killer who is not on the same level as survivors since MMR reset.
Not bannable stuff like OP comments but I see comments like "go play single player game you are not good at killer" or "are you a bot? you played so bad" (correct if im wrong on if people can be banned for saying that, I would assume not because its vauge and not direct, still unsportsman like)
I try to remind my team in chat the MMR was just reset when I see that in egc
anyone who playing survivor and sees this should try to call your team mates out who are doing it, they more likely to stop if they just get called out by a team mate rather then leaving it as only messages killer player sees, at least they know others are trying to defend and have back even when they are on other team (ik everyone not confident enough to do this, just my mentality about it)
to say "There are no tier lists here" is patently false. If we are to directly ignore the hundreds (if not thousands) of "tier lists" that people have made for different killers - then how can anyone honestly say that a killer (like trapper or ghost face) is equally as useful as a killer like ghoul, billy, nurse, dracula, etc.
Or in your instance - do you honestly believe that a Plague will ever truly be as strong as a Nurse? Do you honestly believe just in general a killer w/ 0 mobility is as powerful as a killer w/ high map mobility?

Sure. If I was mad enough about other people's words that it altered my opinions and behavior it's on me to remove myself from that, not to keep participating in it while being upset that it never improves.
Most people already have those settings on but the big difference is console actually does do something about this. If someone sends messages like these they are most likely getting permanently banned from all online gaming. Hence hostile messages are extremely rare. You also have to go to the person's profile, select message, and then slowly type it out on your digital keyboard because you probably don't have a real one. The rage in the end game chat is intense because it's so fresh and it's so easy.
They do ban for this. Keep reporting as it's just not acceptable.
You must be one of those who offend then. You surely don't understand. I am a casual player and I'd like to have a good moment in the game, not being looped and mocked while being outplayed. If you do that, teabag and use too much torches, you are an ass. And i have my reason to report you and tell what you are, more than ever if you start trashing me in the lobby.

I understand the games toxicity quite well.
And that's why I stopped playing Chucky. He was fun but what you described was every other game for me :(
