EAC is not active on Steam. Denuvo is the anti-cheat on Steam right now!
okay, was just confused when the initial eac initialization/waiting for game was present.
I have to say, quite good overall. If I dare to tab out, the game freezes. Waited like 5min trying to get to the lobby, didn't get into it.
My feedback is that I won't play DBD until Denuvo is gone. I have no intention of putting their software on my computer. I have heard far too many negative things about them to consider letting them have access to my PC. Really sucks that I can't play or progress the rift for a week or so. Can't wait for this trial to be over so I can play again.
If BHVR really wants to deal with cheating, server side validation would be nice. Switching from EAC to Denuvo won't do much but server validation would catch players doing actions that are impossible in standard gameplay or doing actions faster than they should given things like perks.
unless you uninstalled before today it is already on your machine. I woke mine out of sleep and the files were there
I was playing this morning right after the game updated and I was experiencing a lot of really bad hitches and stutters. Genuinely though some graphics update had increased the system requirements or something until I checked the Steam forums to see if anyone else was complaining about similar issues. Turning down my graphics settings didn't help either, and DBD was taking up almost the entirety of my RAM according to Task Manager. It was borderline unplayable.
You can set steam to update DBD only when launched instead of automatically. I did because I'd rather not have who knows how many 3rd partys software installed on my pc without approval. I also wanted to see if anyone has issues with custom perk/character portraits so Ill sit these tests out.

I know, im just stating that not everyone has their game set to auto update.
How long is this test active for?
I have auto-update off so I should be fine. Steam still says DBD needs to update. When I saw the update yesterday I decided to not install it just in case it was for this. I would be pretty upset if it just installed itself onto my PC without my permission.

im not even exaggerating, seriously why so many people report game crashing their PC?
I am able to run this game on ultra without any issues and now I cant stay in lobby even on low coz somehow this game crash everything.
Before 5PM in CEST i was able to play this game, after denuvo update the game is unplayable….
At this point you should revert this change and use PTB to test this kind of staff if you cant make it stable
Tried launching the game and Windows Defender blocked the DbD executable as part of "Smart App Control". Never had this issue before.
DbD has now been uninstalled. I'll be back when the test is over as I do not agree with being forced to trial third-party software, especially if it's going to cause issues with my antivirus. Tests like this should be opt-in.
If you dont have Denuvo installed already to run other games, you might want to look up how to fully remove it from your system. Uninstalling DBD alone might not fully remove Denuvo. I believe a dev posted instructions for this somewhere...

Did you address how to even play the game? Maybe start from that?
Why are you testing new cheat on production by causing the game to crash for a lot of people…

Both are running for me when I boot up the game.
No, i just updated via Steam as always since 6 years.
But all worked after a PC restart. I don´t think it should be necessary to install anything manually.
But we have a saying like "You only get one chance to make a first impression"
From my experience, I couldn't play the game at all without a bunch of lag spikes, something I never ran into before until now. I don't think Denuvo is the call for an Anti-Cheat.

dbd doesnt work anymore for me T_T i tried everything, i restarted the pc, i tried to install denuvo manually, i asked in many discord servers, not even google assistant could help me. i tried for hours, but its the same error message over and over again…
This anti-cheat has always been a trash between the bugs that it makes the impact on the performance the confidential data the game will just die completely because of that people are already starting to talk about it on the networks I would not play the game as long as it is there

turns out this is incorrect as both are running.
I think you need to uninstall and then reinstall the game.
Denuvo is crap. Too resource intensive, and is not known for being a good anti-cheat measure.
Denuvo is for DRM
Denuvo introduced a game breaking bug that seems to have no fix and would make dead by daylight unplayable for me. While playing all keyboard inputs essentially "stick" lasting longer than they should, delaying later inputs and making character movement nearly impossible (causing you to run into walls) while mouse input remains unaffected. This is a documented issue with this anti-cheat and has caused this same problem in other games, such as Sniper Elite: Resistance or how it forced me to stop playing The Finals. Despite numerous proposed solutions online, none of them have solved this issue for me; Denuvo cannot be put into Dead by Daylight.

to everyone affected by the issue with freezing, please go to https://app.betahub.io/projects/pr-5642738318/issues/6814 and watch, add info with spec and other information, maybe bhvr will do something with it when there will be huge amount of reports.

its hilarious to me that EAC is stopping denuvo.

Currently, shortly after launching the game on Steam, my system experiences a complete "hard freeze." The computer becomes completely unresponsive—keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+Alt+Del do not work, and there is zero response from the system. The only sign of life is the game's background audio continuing to play. This crash occurs randomly, sometimes while sitting in the main menu and other times in the middle of a match.
I immediately isolated the issue by running through a comprehensive troubleshooting checklist:
Despite these advanced steps, the total system lockups persisted. To confirm the root cause, I switched to playing the game via the Epic Games Store where the Denuvo test is currently inactive. On the Epic version the game runs flawlessly with absolutely no freezes or lockups.
I also want to note that even during the brief periods where the Steam version didn't completely crash my PC, I was experiencing occasional micro-stutters, which are entirely absent on the Epic Games version.
Constant stutters and low framerate makes playing anything requiring precision impossible. Like the other user said instead of trying to catch cheaters after the fact we need server validation on a lot of things so they don't even have the tools to play with. If the only thing they could do was see killer through walls it would naturally reduce number of cheaters.
My specs as follows:
Trying out matches so far, can't tell i ran into any hackers just yet.
I dont run any re-shade or such things or custom icons, the game booted fine, the denuvo is showing up under processes / details in task manager.
No stutters or hiccups, testing it out on doctor as well to spam his ability too, performance looks and feels the same.
Whatever people are writting on here probably take it as grain of salt for optimizing the game, but i suggest making it server sided checks as well on top of denuvo.
I'm not confident that Denuvo was activated onto my game. I didn't get any prompts for it. Either way, I haven't yet noticed any change whatsoever while playing today.
That aside, I wanted to say that no matter what happens with anticheat, I don't think anybody is going to be happy with the state of anticheat until cheaters are getting caught and kicked out mid-match. As long as bans are only being dealt after a match, cheaters are going to be able to infiltrate and ruin matches and players will be upset.

I have been playing playing on linux (proton experimental) and have not had any performance or gameplay issues because of the change.
I also have no issue with EAC also running like others have mentioned, denuvo is only anti cheat running when I launch game.
At least on my end rig there is no difference or issues trying to launch or play the game and performance is exactly the same as before the change.
I’ve really tried everything; after reinstalling the game, I added all the individual Denuvo files, logs, scripts, .exe, and .dll files as exceptions in my firewall and allowed them—and then my entire PC crashed. I’m sorry, but I have no interest in having my gaming PC ruined by this Denuvo crap…
I have uninstalled dbd until 2 vs 8 next week simply because the game is legitimately unplayable thanks to this new update and the freezing issues. i feel like someone is hacking my laptop every time i load up dbd, if it even loads up to begin with.
hopefully it is fixed by then but I have to say whatever issues people have with this game weather it be balance issues or general issues they are nothing compared to making the game actually unplayable 😂
I feel it causes a lot of input lag especially on laggier matches, unless you changed something in the hotfix. 10.1.0 felt amazing even on 100ms etc (you still get hit from a distance away but interacting with lockers etc felt fine unlike before). idk if this change has anything to do with it but interactions feel laggier again.
I don't think I've encountered any other issues though.
Also why isnt this being added to other platforms, i would really like a clarification from the person in charge answering such PR questions.
Its a clear as night and day obvious fact the hackers come from MS store and Epic platform more often than steam.
Well clearly this is a "trial" so if it works they would absolutely do it on other platforms, even though the name "denuvo" carries hate and some people already quit still it would be good to play with less hackers and more bans
I have tried to delete DBD redownload it delete and redownload both anti cheats delete one run redownload delete the other run redownload delete both run the game and still nothing this place is my last resort me and 2 of my buddys are having the same issue games unplayable for me im not sure what to do but just not play the game if you have a fix please update the game to fix it for everyone on PC
I was able to play the game perfectly fine as usual yesterday (presumably before the trial started). Now, the game completely freezes my entire PC after about 5 minutes of being open. I am unable to move my mouse or make any inputs. The only way I can fix it is a hard reboot. The game is currently unplayable for me.
