100% achievements is getting pointless in DBD

So long as achievements are tied to specific characters, maintaining 100% of the achievements everytime a new chapter arrives kind of forces the player to buy every DLC that comes in with the game, even if its something you don't want/like.

I've always enjoyed all the chapters that come to the game and haven't really had any that i disliked, until Orela Rose. Which before i get stuff thrown at me, it really is just a situation of "if you don't like it, don't buy it?" But since the achievements have been a constant goal to maintain, and her healing perk was somewhat of an upgrade to botany knowledge which was my most used survivor perk, i got her with shards, got her to p3, did the achievements and moved on.

But the upcoming community chapter just brought in yet another similar situation. I did not vote for the old lady, so i don't want to use her unless the other 3 choices come in as legendary skins atleast. But i'll be forced to buy her if i want to maintain that 100% achievement thing. So its gotten rather pointless in that these days dbd is going to start adding things i won't like, and since achievements are tied to characters, I'll either be forced to buy them (I say buy as in some of them might be licenses. For example if they decide to make a Lady Gaga chapter) or simply avoid getting the character, and stop 100%ing the achievements.

Ontop of that, there is no point 100%ing a game that will never stop adding more achievements until the game shuts down, as it was more for the fact that i ran out of challenges in the tomes and stuff to do.

  • I still haven’t unlocked Hiding Seeker.

    Which probably says a lot.

  • I'm kind of perplexed. If getting 100% achievements is important to you then you must make the commitment to get every chapter to do so. If its not important to get 100%, then you don't. Isn't it that simple?

It is not. Because its now going to cost buying characters i will never use. And that has started to become frequent enough that the goal no longer feels important.

Ironically i pulled that one off by having a friendly killer that id run infront of then id run to a locker, and repeated that till the achievement popped lol.

Another method seems to be against legion players if they hit and run to the next target you can go to a locker before the chase ends each time. Then get out and mend when the chase ends

  • 100% achievements in dbd is like a fun lil side objective for me. I still haven't got the dnd vecna thingy where you have to escape with one of his precious ######### super relics, because he's so incredibly rare.

    It's pointless, yeah.

  • I think if someone really wants to have 100% Achievements in DBD, they should get every character. There is just no way around it. And if there is a conflict between not liking certain characters and having 100% Achievements, then they have to decide what to pick.

Personally I dont think that keeping DBD at 100% Achievements is worth it by any means. Some Achievements require me to play Characters I just dont like. Others are forcing me to use bad Perks (e.g. the one where you have to give permanent healing progress), which would be fine, but since I dont aim for 100% achievements, it is not worth it. Because the big dealbreaker are Achievements which would just take way too long to do. The one in question for me is the Springtrap-Achievement to grab people out of Doors. I dont like playing Springtrap because he is pretty dull in my opinion (which is fine, he is for an audience who potentially never played DBD before). And getting grabs mean that I need to play a ton of Springtrap and hope that the Survivors are really bad to use the Doors while I am not occupied doing other things. This is just not gonna happen on a reliable basis.

And even worse are other Achievements which require a specific Killer to go against. The Vecna-Achievement was already named, I got it quite early, but if you start later and not when a Killer is freshly released, you might have Dozens of games before facing that specific Killer and then you can either throw the game for the achievement or, if it requires something like escaping, you have to hope that everything works out. Not really ideal.

Therefore I just think that having DBD on 100% is just not worth it anymore. Especially because it is only 3 month until new Achievements are released which just mean that you might have to do a different very tedious task to do.

  • I mean i feel like this with achievements with a lot of games.

You'll want to go do 100% then see achievements locked behind DLC

I've actually seen him in like 40% of the chaos shuffle matches so far. Even back to back 3 in a row sometimes. But yea finding the jackpot item and escaping with it is another story lol

Also the map based achievements got much more tedious and harder to do once the map offerings were obliterated. I swear getting that generator done in the walking dead map and making it out alive took a couple weeks as id burn through about 15 offerings before ever seeing the map, and then get turbo tunneled. When i did get it done, it was with the whole team tunneled out and me barely crawling out the gate by a frame. I can't imagine how tedious it is to get the RPD door opening achievement now.

I'll get it eventually, it's just a game of chance.💀

  • Its like rolling 3 different dice and if either one fails its game over lol, 1 dice for getting a killer playing vecna, 2nd dice for getting the item out of the chest, 3rd dice for getting a good team that wins and gives you the chance to escape lol

  • 100% a game with constant new achievements every release is a Sisyphean effort. I recommend not bothering.

I was so close to getting it four times, but each time the vecna wanted his special mori. And i'm a meghead, that doesn't help.😅

I got the achievement three months ago. Still its interesting that the achievement has been unlocked by 4.2% of Steam players. Still the killer version that would be easier to get of collecting the eye or hand has 1.0%. Still its not surprising that achivement where you need to buy a character for is rarer than the one that you can do without any specific character.

I assume many players have unlocked it after vecnas release where he was played a lot. I didn't play that much back then, so it's kind amy bad.😅

Ive always tried to get the achievements as soon as they come out, especially killer adepts (I even got jason, played for his achievements and haven't touched him since). But that one for vecna i remember reading that and going "i've got to get this one over with quickly or it will be very difficult later" lol.

Yeap i had a ton of real life issues at the time i needed to resolve, so no time for dbd.

  • Like I understand some people do obsess of the achievements and want to get them as fast as they can. Still seriously just asking why is that so important to you that it effects of your enjoyement?

Like I do like achievements and I do quite often collect games I play to 100% achievements. Still I don't take it as the main goal usually maybe in some games but usually I just play the game and get the achievements while I play. Like I do go for the achievement usually if its something specific in this game like it demands the main gen being fixed or that Lich achievement, but still I will not be that upset if I don't get it as there will be other matches later to get it. I for example do the adepts on the new characters from the start to get them done. Usually takes me few matches and only rarely have needed to slug to get it and that was like after I played several days about 20 matches and could not get it in my normal play style. Partly unlucky and partly because the perks were not really that good for that specific killer but works really well with some others.

Like currently I am missing nine achievements the oldest is the Nurse one because that is one of those that you really need to go for it to get it and rarely get three blink Nurse in my random builds.

This was aleays a thing, so why complain after Chapter 41? You obviously did this for years now. Also, thats just how DLC achievements work in all games.

Its always been a side objective since i ran out of other stuff to do in the game. Im just saying i've started to realise its not worth maintaining anymore.

  • Why now? As i stated above i never had a problem with any of the content coming in to dbd, only recently there are chapters being added that i realise i will never have an interest in and have no reason to purchase other than maintaining 100%. So im just coming to the realisation now of how pointless it really is to maintain 100% achievements for this game specifically, as i never expected the game to start adding stuff I refuse to buy, and the achievements are still tied to those things.

  • I've had %100 achievements in this game myself but gave up on it as this game will always just add more achievements with every character added.

  • I was lucky to get the Vecna survivor achievement the first day he came out. RPD escapes you will get over time, and somehow managed to get the Walking Dead map generator one done today after all this time. Barely see that map at all so felt really bad opening the gate and leaving the other 3 behind. Was not taking any risk of a sneaky Blood Warden play!

Only two i have left without spending any money now are Nurse adept and the Nurse triple blink grab one. I'm terrible at Nurse so don't even want to attempt it. Those are from the base game and would give me a Platinum.

Easiest way to get killer achievements that are not adepts, is playing friendly. Survivors will even help u get them done. For example you show them you aren't trying to kill them. Then you direct them to a generator, and then while they do the gen right infront of u try ur 3 blinks and grab.

  • I never thought about that, I play on PlayStation I platinumed the game twice on the ps4 and ps5, I usually don’t do new achievements outside of adepts for fun.

Must be annoying to have to constantly keep up with the new added achievements, especially ones like springtraps door grabs, I think I’m sitting at 4-5 right now and most of them were back when he launched.

Yea i ended up making the survivors go in the door and they would take turns with me pulling one of them out, dropping them, the next goes in while they heal the downed person, repeated till the achievement was done lol

  • As someone with 100% in dbd I get what you mean however you don't have to spend real money on Orela or the new chapter coming out. All you need are iri shards if you save them up. I keep my iri shards near 100k so I can buy whatever original chapter whenever they drop one.

  • I also plated the game twice on ps4 and ps5 I thought about doing it for pc but then I start to think about certain adepts like Trapper or the Hemophobia trophy where you can't get hit even once and have to escape. Which really are the only issues and annoyances

Yes for originals it seems the current trend is that they now dont even sell them for auric cells like with kwon and shane. I just mean i dont even want her in my roster lol and if they ever make a license i dont want either then it would cost money to get.

  • You are right its pointless because unless you buy every chapter you cant get it and each new chapter brings new ones.

Achievements you event cant get because you dont have certain chapter still count for your total % of achivements done so theres no point.

  • Not to mention how nothing burger some of the more modern achievements are.

    “Do basic thing 20 times”

“Run perk + do basic thing 20 times”

    They’re just uninspired.

Don't forget they're mainly just adepts lol. They can honestly stop making trophies tbh. I wouldn't mind skipping on doing adepts but I usually feel obligated cause I have to keep my 100%
