New Eddietress Skin is P2Stealth

Title, effectively. The new Eddietress skin is pay to stealth, with the hatchet windup sound and lullaby in general being way, way, way too quiet.

Attached a video of me facing the skin and I want to know if anyone watching can actually hear it, because even in post I struggle

  • The skin makes her beyond quiet. Not even werebeast skin or whatever it's called was this bad. You can barely hear her vault as well.

  • Makes sense since they dont have playtesters /s

  • I guarantee this was done on purpose to sell more skins.

  • BHVR releasing another P2W skin, which will then be bought by sweaty people just to fix the Bug in a few weeks after it sold enough. Classic.

At this point you have to assume it is intentional.

  • it’s were-elk all over again😭

  • And thus, history repeats itself.

You'd think that making a mistake once would make them learn from it. Nope.

Edit: on the same killer no less. Really guys? Really?

  • Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence.

Eddie doesn't really make noise and they probably just think about it all that hard.

  • The skin lacking bells & whistles is one thing, but having literally the exact same problems as the last Huntress Visceral is the exact kind of baffling disappointment that often holds this game back.

  • I had to volume my laptop on 100% to hear anything XD

    ^^

If they really wanted too they could disable the skin until a fix like they did with baermar charismas sweater one year who also had sound issues.

I'd like to think there's ppl who also just buy skins because they look cool. Im personally rocking the ironmaiden dredge skin for example even though its arguably Pay to lose.

And this is why suddenly a lot of people use the Were-Elk when it is bugged again, which happened in the past. Because they want to see the unique Mori. Yep.

If there's one universal truth about this playerbase, it's that if there's a bug to exploit it will be exploited to the fullest extent

Yep. And this is regardless of roles, some Perks or skins just increase in usage when there is a Bug which makes them better than supposed to be. See Were-Elk, Streetwise, Wake Up, Merciless Storm and so on. Which is why I am also a fan of using the Killswitch way more.

I went against streamer with around 30 people on stream that was abusing doctor on the anniversary mode.

Doctor was bugging people out so that they couldn't do anything for the whole match, no healing, no gens etc.

I asked if he was aware of that bug and he said he was aware and "if devs didn't killswitch the killers this bug will not be bannable".
Later I checked his VOD and he only played doctor and abused that bug.

  • There is a report about this made in the Betahub and I added link to the video into it. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Yeah, but sadly this is also on BHVR. Either they should ban for stuff like this or killswitch it. And often enough it is really people abusing the Bugs instead of just random people running it. But since the latter exist, killswitching is better than banning.

However, the worst kind of people are those who keep their game open so that the killswitch does not affect them. I know that the number of those is small, but those should be banned for a significant amount of time if they play longer than a few hours while not restarting the game.

  • That's a shame I was really looking forward to facing Huntress again

  • Like if silent Huntress wouldn't be still average to weak killer. :D I don't like skins to make killer better but to make killer good on it's own.

No, it was just sarcastic. I am aware of were-elk issue so obviously in needs fix. It's just Huntress is in so bad spot right now. With Jason and Springtrap in the game she has fallen down so hard. She has snowball potential but that's it, she's worse in every other aspect so she can only utilize survivors grouping up.

For sure. I will be buying it since I am an Iron Maiden fan. I never play Huntress (I am beyond terrible with her) but must own this skin.

I also rock the Dredge skin!

  • Kind of baffled by this. Who cares? She's not S tier. Even if she didn't have sound queue's she'd be a B-tier, A-tier on a high end player. Is this really where we're focusing our ire? That a lower tier killer got a benefit from a skin?

I mean don't get me wrong I get it, pay to win is always annoying, but this feels like a meh complaint. Does this skin somehow put her on par with Ghoul, or nurse? Hell does it even put her on par with dracula? I don't think it does. She continues to only be a problem on skilled huntress players, regardless of the sound queues.

Be upset if it pleases you of course, just not sure I understand how this is a priority over things like perk balancing, old killer reworks, etc. But the more you shout about it the more likely they are to address this issue rather than the other ones.

On principle I don't think people should be able to get a competitive advantage from purchasing a £15 skin over people who don't necessarily have the disposable income to chuck £15 on a skin in a paid-for game especially during a time where everyone is being squeezed for money from all angles but maybe that's too radical of a thought for the dbd forums

It IS abit of selective outrage though. Its pretty common knowledge that different SURVIVORS are also different volume levels. Obviously ppl arnt using Ace for his perks, but I wouldn't go as far as to accuse everyone who plays him of being sweaty and "abusing" how quiet he is. While sure you probably have some people who pick their survivors and cosmetics to squeeze every advantage they can, alot of ppl are just using what they think is cool.

Seriously though, it’s hard to believe that anyone actually tests this stuff before releasing live. It would take anyone who has literally any level of experience with this game about 10 seconds to realize this is a big problem.

This is true, but the difference is there's not really a base "this is how a survivor should sound" character. There are notable characters like Ace and Ada that most people caught on to being quieter than others, and the devs should obviously raise the volume on these characters, but there's always going to be some expected variety when it comes to the survivor cast.

Huntress always sounds a certain way, so when cosmetics come out that make her variants noticeably harder to face, I think it makes sense that it ruffles a few more feathers.

youre saying this to me like i havent always said survivors should be the same voice level. and where have i accused people of being sweaty and abusing the skin - i made a post saying the skin was very difficult to hear and pay to stealth (not win). i can hardly be held responsible for what other people are saying. also, ive faced the skin once, and made a post after one game because there was an issue.

also the quietest survivor is ace, who's free on every platform bar pc and costs 2500? 1250? iri shards to purchase on pc. there is no, and will be no, free way to purchase the huntress skin because its licenced.

Except you have ppl ignoring the obvious reasons people would want to use the skins OUTSIDE of volume. Even if the skin sounded identical, that were-elk skin having a different model and unique mori is gonna get more attention than a your average different outfit. In the case with this new iron maiden skin... The thing plays guitar sounds when you M1. Thats kinda awesome.

Sidenote... there actually is survivor equivalent, lol. We have several skins that change the character and thus voicelines. Michonne for example has a Maggie skin, Dustin has an Eddie skin, ect. Thats very similar to what's happening here with an Anna skin that stops being Anna.

Again this is true, but if you're referring to the others users you've spoken to in thread, they are right in pointing out that the use rates of these skins skyrocket whenever they're broken.

Obviously people buy these cosmetics because they like the aesthetic, and then get demonized when they just wanna use their nice skin. I remember getting cussed out for playing Glitchtrap on launch when his footsteps were overly quiet when I just wanted to hear the cool laugh he makes.

It doesn't really change the fact that the majority of people that buy them flock to these skins whenever they do cause issues for their source character and leave whenever the problem is fixed.

Since BHVR has seemingly forgone playtesting in favor of just releasing Eddie broken, they kinda walked into the accusation that this pattern is a result of them catering to that audience, though I don't believe that is the case in the end. Imo, they probably just biffed it the way they normally do.

I wouldn't call this more equivalent than your original comparison back to base survivor noises honestly.

You won't say "I wanna play a quieter version of Cheryl's kit" and then pick James Sunderland, you'd pick Ada or Ace or whoever because you just want a quieter survivor. The addition of a new survivor skin, ignoring perks, is gameplay wise the same thing as adding a new survivor.

Conversely, you won't say "I wanna play a quieter version of Huntress" and then pick Ghostface, you'd pick Were-Elk/Eddie currently.

While you are right that these issues are similar, I'd say meta survivors and their most drastic differences have been around much longer, whereas getting meta variants specific of killers (outside ig addons?) is a newer, less common, and thus more jarring experience.

I do still hope we get survivor audio evened out eventually, but I don't think it's wrong for survivor players to be raising a stink over these killer skins being broken when they pop up.

I kinda wish the video actually had more to it. Considering Huntress's lullaby isn't directional and the visual heartbeat at this point is used by basically everyone, I dont see THAT part as problematic since your gonna know when your in range of it no matter what there. They probably didnt want to confuse people with a loud guitar solo since it would come off as chase music. Unfortunately that was basically the only thing the video showed.

Survivors are all the same though, gameplay-wise. The quietest survivor is already available without paying if that's what someone wants. Nurse is the strongest killer and free, but if I like Huntress, I can pay to have this specific killer's kit in a more advantageous form. If they wanted to change the killer to be quieter overall then cool, but there's a high paywall for stealth in this case. That's just gross, and we'll now have people jumping on the skin for the wrong reasons.

Now I feel bad since I ended up watching a mintskull short right after sending that, lol. I feel like MAYBE people's issue is they might be so use to the grunts and such, they arnt recognizing the screech as the windup sound. The comment section pretty much agreed that between were elk, Eddie and base huntress... base huntress had the quietest windup sound between the 3, at least at range. From your video... im really not seeing an issue here.

Here's the short in question if you wanna hear the various comparisons.

  • Huntress in this skin was literally standing behind me and I had no idea, just a faint guitar sound. Awful.

  • Devs are like: ups, no hatchet pull up sound, no lullaby, but it looks nice or not? BUY! Pay2Win on the next level.
