Dbd has just become unstoppable.

Dead by Daylight is never going to die. With the new revealed content, modes, etc. this game might actually stay around for the next decade.

Giving players the ability to mod is insane by itself. New game modes are being added and worked on, plus new chapters and a dynamic weather system which has confirmed plans to affect gameplay and even perks.

This isn't like 5 years from now promises we might not get. This is stuff we'll get over the next 2 years. This is happening. This is not a drill.

If you want to be cynical and say the devs will somehow fumble, go ahead. I don't blame you. Yet there is an undeniable hope that they can deliver and then some.

  • I am hoping with these big change it will bring about some great balance across the game in terms of stability, killer balances/bugs from coding etc. I am looking forward to the updates to graphics and audio. The audio is already AMAZING, as I love sound design so I really am excited to see the development of all of this.

  • BHVR can always fumble in a big way it's happened way too many times to ignore the possibility but assuming they for the most part pull all this off the DBD haters are indeed in shambles but I don't think that will stop them from coping about every single new horror asymm "killing DBD"

  • Very very exciting times, as a casual player I'm so excited for the visual update, I love feeling immersed when playing, I can't wait to see all my favourite characters especially on survivor coz we look so jank rn with more fidelity, it's been a long time coming <3

  • yeah they seem to have Plans for the future

And the fact that there is no actual serious competition currently available nor announced (except for one-license restricted ones) does speak for them as well.

Though i would still be hestitant to actually expect the massive update to come within 2 Years.. Call me a oessimist but that Talk and previews felt way too ambitious.. will be glad to be proven wrong

  • This is honestly a sentiment I really like and want to rally behind. I'm newer to the community than many and have only the waxings of oldheads to help me understand the culture of the community and what has brought us to where it is now. I see a lot of negativity and grim forecasts, people calling the game dead/dying or stating it's never going to go back to the golden age. It sucks to arrive to a game as it's dying and being told over and over that is the case really takes the wind out of my optimistic sails.

I have my gripes, but I genuinely think DBD is a gem, a rough one, but a gem, and if all that is promised, or even most that is promised, comes around, I predict a new breath of life.

  • Unstoppable force(various unique licenses) vs immovable object(BHVR game balance team)

  • I'm still hoping they will notice me someday. Maybe on the 15th year.

Shanoa as a legendary would go hard, huge fan of the castlevania games

  • I'm a little apprehensive about some of the changes to be honest. I feel like the game might lose a little bit of its identity as it modernises by changing all the character models, animations and voices. It will definitely lose a little of its present day goofy, awkward charm if the changes are as radical as they're advertised to be. I wasn't around the last time these things got a big change and I imagine many players felt the same way back then that I do now. I do wonder if DBD a year from now might look and feel like playing a completely different game. That said, maybe not much will change at all and we will be having the same old silly Scooby Doo chases around a higher resolution rock, except it'll be raining and the Survivor's hair will be blowing in the wind. In other words, it will be the exact same game but much nicer looking. I would be a little bit disappointed if updating the game doesn't go far beyond nicer graphics and weather effects.

One of the things I've learned about the DBD community is that we don't really like change all that much. We had the opportunity to change the game last year but the community said no. I can see the dynamic weather systems getting a similar push back from the competitive elements of the player base, especially if it badly effects visibility and sound on certain maps or makes tracking survivors a lot more difficult. Will the devs listen to these players again and scrap or lessen the effects of the weather? I guess only time will tell.

The new 1V1 mode that they announced doesn't do it for me and I'm not skilled enough to try my hand at modding, either. I'm happy for the people excited by those things but I could take it or leave it.

The balance between changing things up to stay fresh (hopefully for the better) and keeping the familiar will be a difficult challenge for the devs to overcome and I'm not sure if they can pull it off. But I applaud their ambition to try and push the game forward, I just hope it amounts to more than a lick of paint (if all we get out of it is nicer looking game, even that might be enough to keep the game alive for at least the next 5 years). But I might not be playing for a while if the graphical overhaul is too much for my old 1050ti to take.

  • Modding + the fact that bhvr got a seperate team (not the same one that's working on current DBD) on the side to rebuild the game almost from scratch to fix the code and allow for the announced overhaul stuff, new mechanics and more.

Yeah, this game is most definitely here to stay for good.

  • I hope they remember to NOT change the movement.

It may be a bit unrealistic but the movement has to stay right.

We will see if the graphics will really look like the announcement because the specs for this have to go up quite a bit i guess.

Also it is the completely right decision to not make a DBD 2 but just update the existing game.

waaaait did they say this was also about fixing the code?? Stream was choppy for me so i might not have gotten that?!

  • Time will tell how effective this is, but DBD hardly has decent competition anyway.

Most licensed games like the upcoming Halloween one isn't going to compete with the WIDE cast DBD has at this point already. If this update is as good as we hope, modding itself will keep a very dedicated set of fans here.

It wasn't said on the anniversary stream. Cote said it in a post-anniversary interview with slasher radio.

They absolutely should change the movement to make it look smooth and natural.

I don't care if it makes it harder for Survivors to spin the Killer. bhvr should have kept the updated locomotion parts the first time around, and the fact that they removed it in favor of keeping the animation jank was stupid as hell.

Pretty much, people forget what few bad patches can do to the game.

They can make it look a bit better but the movement has to be snappy.

These realistic stumbles and slower stops and turns are ok in single player games but not if i want to be fast and precise.

There was a reason most players did not like the changes back then.

Considering how allergic some of ya'll are to fundamental changes made to the game in general, it doesn't surprise me that a good number of people on here hated it.

However there were also a good handful of players who liked the changes back then on other sites, who weren't part of the forum echo chamber on here.

Regardless, i'll take immersive over snappy any day. I'm tired of seeing Survivors awkwardly turn around, due to some people insisting on keeping the animation jank for a competitive advantage, that almost never actually works.

    Ok then.

We will not agree on this one.
