These gen speeds holllyyyy
Now, this isn’t a complaint thread at all. Survivors should do their objective.
But hollyyyy hell some of these teams can really crank through them. 😂😂
Even on blight (QOL Build, medium addons) I’m having trouble keeping up with some of these teams; even with somebody constantly on hook / ending chases quickly.
I feel bad for the m1 killer mains. Y’all are some brave souls. Might be time to just start 8 hooking and letting my mmr sink a bit. xD

I did one in 30 seconds alone.
I am a bad survivor.,
I mean for real, all I have is the ability to communicate.
I think I can get it down toward 15 with assistance.
And 5 seconds in a private match void.
It doesn't really help that survivors are getting an abundance of Gen perks, especially as of late (Overzealous, Potential Energy, Quick Gambit, etc.). Also BNPs existing.
Overzealous and Quick Gambit I'm pretty sure are at 0% pickrate, and Potential Energy makes gens go slower, not faster.
BNPs are garbage though and should've been removed years ago.
It’s pretty much required to have 2 gen control perks. Lot of people like using Corrupt.
I had this fight already.
Potential Energy slows down the Gen you pull from.
It makes the 3 Gen gen that you need to repair go much faster.
This was best used on old RPD, because it was easy to set up and the killer would often go pursue the remote gen you had pulled the energy from.
But, you know this. It also frustrates me when a new survivor pulls energy and dumps it into the same Gen, seemingly sabotaging the match.
That still doesn't make gens go faster though, it just makes them harder to lock down and hold. Potential Energy is still not a 'gens go faster' perk. If the killer never intended to just gen-squat, then Potential Energy can only slow gens down.
M1 killers won't probably be matched agains't those teams or at least that should happen very rarely as m1 killers lose probably like half of their games so their mmr should be too low... But I think gen speed are too fast they should be increased to 100-110s. But tunneling also need to be bit nerfed as that turns the game in favour for killer.
100-110 seconds? How long do Gens need to take for some of you to accept that it might be a skill issue on your side? Almost 2 minutes is way too long.
If anything, the initial Gen needs to be faster with some form of second Objective, which encourages more running around aka more chance for the Killer to get into a chase to build up pressure.
In total no of course not. It does indeed add total time to doing gens.
But he was talking about specific gen time. Which has a strong influence on match outcome.
I get that its a hard perk to use. I get that solo Q usually does silly things with it.
But it does reduce the time to complete on the generator of your choice, and can almost totally remove that time, under ideal circumstances.
This is pretty much the case. The first chase will always result in your losing at least 2 gens, often 3, if the survivor you chase guesses right in a mindgame even once. Of course that assumes that survivors actually do gens. This is why as a killer you basically have to bring regression perks, if you don't you have to camp and tunnel, and often times even with all that you still have to play scummy to win.
I think it would be a much healthier place for the game if they made tunneling and camping impossible, probably 3 genning too, but then slowed the game down a bit so gens don't fly as fast.
Crazy, did I say I was surprised they’re doing gens? Hm…
reminds me of a match yesterday where the killer complained we held m1 rather efficiently but without any gen perks or toolboxes or what have you (while he overcommited to two chases total, of which onky one ended in a down). We asked what exactly we should have done differently while he was chasing one. He seriously insisted we should have ignored gens and instead tried to find hin to get chased.
I mean sure, as a killer I appreciate when survs step off the gas when they realise they probs gonna get the 4E either way --- but it's not like I insist on it. Just like I appreciate a killer going chill when nearly everyone is death hook at four gens. Two minutes well spent in terms of pips/BP. But the sense of entitlement in that egc was..... something else 😅😂
That being said: yeeee, there are situations where it just goes ding - ding - ding so quickly you're just left with a surprised pikachu face after mit even a minute. Then again. There's also that comp nurse that has Lethal-ed everyone after not even a minute.
I believe one of the main reason gens go so fast, is survivor spawns. If you have 4 survivors that spawn completely spread out, usually right by gens, that’s where the insane gen speed comes from.
I think one of the best changes for this is to make survivors all spawn together 100% of the time.
But it’s not always a skill issue.
If Killer isn’t running Lethal Pursuer or Corrupt, it’s “ok pick a random direction opposite me and hope we get lucky finding a survivor”
So that’s what.. 20-30 seconds? Then you find survivor, and guess what? You found the greatest looper in the game. Or they have sprint burst.
So already 1- 2 minutes into the game, and 1-2 gens are close to being done somewhere else because you picked the wrong survivor to chase or wrong part of the map to go to initially.
Now, yes, even with 1-2 gens popping early that doesn’t mean game over. So yes, skill comes into play. But still, that (searching wrong area, finding good looper early) is one of the problems with the game. Then you have map unbalance, which killer you picked, etc.
I do agree with 2nd objective idea that’s been thrown around for years yet here we are.
This is a big thing too. My normal blight build when I’m not playing too chill has lethal for this reason.
There’s been times I’ve went to opposite side of map thinking they’d spawned there, come to find out they had spawned RIGHT next to me. Pain.😂
You're pretty much throwing against good players if you don't bring Corrupt and they're playing to win. Not saying it's anyone in particular, but there's a *strong* overlap between killers who complain about gen speeds and killers who insist Corrupt is a bad perk and refuse to run it.
The simplest solution would be to hard cap the bonuses that can stack together for repair speed. The speed of repair, alone, without perk or toolbox is 80 seconds, just put a hard cap that indicates that more than 20% bonus, at the same time, cannot be had or that, under 60 seconds, you cannot can go.
To solve the tunneling and camping problem, it is enough to encourage the killer to diversify his target, to stay away from the hook. For example thanatophobia/dyning light (without buff to survivors) basekit, or a generator gets blocked by the Entity if you are at least 24 meters from a survivor on the hook until it is unhooked.
But yeah, none of this will ever happen, seeing how much devs know about their own game
bro i just hooked 2 people so fast with blight and they finished 3 gens so fast

We know that this is absolutely not true. You're not going to solve tunnelling and camping by simply mega-buffing killers. You're only going to reduce those strategies by nerfing them with tailored solutions.

This is also probably pretty untenable from a mechanical perspective, not to mention it's missing the mark. The only real threat to gen speed is BNP, that thing needs to be reworked.
"We know" who ? you and who else ?
Anyway just cry fro more nerf and cry because there's tunnellng and camping i'm sure crying out is a valid solution, BHVR seems to listen to the survivor's desperate cry for help
Sure the only threath is BNP, sure. As long there are people like you, this game won't be better at all
You will never be satisfied anyway.
You forget that not all camping/tunnelling is done because killers struggle so badly to win the normal way. Lots of killers do it because it's easy, or specifically because they want to ruin the game for the survivors. The only way you'd make that change is if non-camping/tunnelling is MORE oppressive than those tactics. Which would just kill the game outright.
Not to mention that nothing stops killers from dropping the bar another notch if BHVR did try to take your approach. As long as you have tunnelling/camping to fall back on, you will do so. No matter how much the game is slanted in your favour, no matter how much your loss is your fault, if you can fall back on tunnelling/camping, you will do so.
That's why those tactics need to be uprooted, not coddled. They need to be entirely unappealing and inefficient choices. That's the only way that they're going to be fixed.
Sure the only threath is BNP, sure. As long there are people like you, this game won't be better at all
How much does anything else shave off, compared to BNP?
It's not skill issue they still too fast with most killers if you try to play fair who are not A-S tier. Does not help survivors have perks and toolboxes to complete them even faster. That secondary objective would be fair idea too but probably not going to happen.
Killers have to tunnel/camp to keep up with current gens as those feels faster than ever. I play swf too and we usually get all gens done in 5 minutes if killer plays fairly or fails to tunnel/camp. Even if they get downs pretty quickly we still get those gens pretty quickly.
SoloQ is still bad, Im usually only one doing gens and teammates go down somehow very quickly but game should not be balanced around bad players not doing their objective.
Im not best killer but still have lot of experience and before games used to be much more chill and I could win even playing fairly and even going for 8 hooks. Now tunneling feels requirement in most games if you are hoping to win and it's unfun for both sides.
I haven't used Corrupt since the rework. What am I missing here?
I don't fall into this Venn diagram, but if I'm sleeping on CI better late to the party than never.
I don’t either. I usually have somebody down in the first 30 seconds of the game, so it’d be a complete waste of a perk slot.
Lethal Pursuer Nurse, I only believe in getting into chases and staying in chases.
But if he's about to blow my mind I'm ready for it.
Nobody uses any of those perks.
Same. The most slowdown I’ll run is pain res.
But I’ve been running straight QOL builds lately. Just chillin and going for flicks.
Still forces the survivors to spread out a little and spend some time looking for gens, so it’s still worth it even in those cases, imho.
On killers I would agree. But for ME personally on Blight, I don’t need it just because of how fast I can end the first chase.
yea with 0 slowdowns you can get really really fast matches if survivors just want out of the game asap. I mostly just run corrupt as my sole slowdown when im going for curves on billy.
Played 5 games on Tues night and 3 of them were gen rushed. Oni is a slow starter and Knight is hot and cold depending how quick the survivors press W
BNP is 25% per person, and only once per match. So like, 50% which would be a 45 second gen and it is reasonable to expect to see two in a random match, and is easy to do.
Hyperfocus+stakeout would be -24 seconds per person with diminishing results if you double up, its about -30 seconds for 2 on a gen+ prove its around a 40-50 second gen(I didn't try this specific setup, but in general Hyperfocus+stakeout is like moderate difficulty to pull off, but its totally reusable).
All the other perks just take a little time off and usually aren't giving results to justify a slot, maybe the new duo perks might have some use in here.
Potential energy has the same issue, it works great but is way too much time risk for a given match(You can do it with the BnP and a gen will be gone, but its too many eggs in one basket for a game driven by a real human competitors).
I get that you were arguing with the other guy, but I did invest some time in messing with all this stuff because I really wanted to know how it felt as opposed to what the cards say.
Also, ######### about Blight.
I play with Blight a lot now. He is on every Gen if he wants to be near instantly, like Nurse can be. I wouldn't even try to rush gens against him.
You can still rush against Blight depending on build / addons 100%. A good squad can still murder the gens.
