Further nerfs on survivors can really hurt the playerbase

DbD's huge success was always thanks to the fact that playing survivor is so much fun, easy and casual friendly(+ licensed killers survivors/killers ).

The recent constant nerfs on survivor side since years is getting quite worrying. As you know there is a talk about gutting Dead Hard to be useless and 2 killer getting buffed, a map reworked to be killer sided( massive dead zones), Circle of Healing made useless for solo, and of course healing will also gets nerfed to take forever.

No new perk allowed to be meta for survivors. Example would be Boil over or parental guidance, or in the past lucky break rework nerfed into ground, all of them destroyed by killer main demands.

The only item worth is bringing now is medkit as survivor(thanks to toolbox nerfs, hatch nerf so keys are useless, flashlight only good for killers) the question is how long since soon even healing will be taken away to suit killer main demands.

The point is the game getting very hard for casuals and devs have to really think whatever is it worth to lose huge part of survivor playerbase.

Every killer is able to get 2k/2e because of SBMM, meaning that every killer is viable according to the developers standards. Nurse is able to break the 2k/2e rule that the developers have decided is how players are balanced.

Ahaha SBMMR? You mean the thing that doesn't work during peak day times to reduce queue time length?

I get instant queues all morning long. It has long been observed that the time of day matters a lot for queue time. So this might not be the best gage of relative game balance.

Maybe but the prime time aka when the most people play is still 8pm-1am.

Aren't you arguing logically then that those perks aren't overpowered? If it didn't change the outcome whether you used it or not then their power level relative to the perks you did use was the same.

Nice Interpretation, but what they said is that good player can win without those perks and overperform with them or bad player get carried by them.

Of course killer mains need 4k all the time, maybe 3k if they pity hatch the last one

This is such a bad argument.

Blame one player for going for his goal while handing the other a free win lol.

But ofc survivor just want to escape. Just as a x man swf wants a x man escape. But strangely noone calling them out for it. Jk killers are just more reasonable.

2 kill and 2 escape is balanced, however lately killer mains demanding 75% kill rate at very least, most killer way above 50% right now. But of course this isnt enough, they need to win all the time

    Uh where are those statistics?

The last that i can remember had pinhead at the top with 55%?

Is that way over? An average of 1 in 20 games more than 2 kills?

Yes, having a chance to get a 3K-4K is nice, but apparently, Killers should never win and should always only get a draw, but Survivors are allowed to always get 3E-4E

Ye turn it as you want, it didn't change that even without them the killers were still too weak to end chases fast enough so why survivors should benefits from perks helping them even more in chase ?

If a survivor can perform perfectly without those perks, why should they be able to use all those second chances perks ? To make it even easier ?

  • It's an average of 2ks and 2es, which means the killer can get 3ks an 4ks, which is a win and can get 0ks and 1ks which is a loss, while also getting 2ks and 2es. So, on average, any killer wins half the time, which means the killer is viable, base on what the developers have decided is balance.

It's an average, and the average Survivor is worse than an average Killer, which means they'll die more often, which leads to the average ~50% killrate.

If we would look at high MMR, things would be different, but we don't have such stats, so the best thing we can do is speculate.

After all the unbalanced things/buffs and nerfs the devs added to "balance" the killrate, I don't really care what they consider "viable"

  • Maybe let it be, if balanced game means death of the game it might not be worth living.

  • DH is so busted that balancing it feels like oppression or a war crime to people lol.

ppl dont want it nerfed cuz its good, its a slog having every survivor have base kit iFrames.

  • People keep mentioning a dh nerf. last time I remember this happening was old ruin. We all knew it was a problem that needed to be changed. The reason people get nervous about something like that is when they know it's clearly busted. I love it.

I'm telling you a 25% nerf to coh will do nothing, it doesn't change the problem with the perk. you set it up in a corner of the map. take a hit and run to it to heal while the killer cant do anything about it. its still going to be strong as ever and basically not counterable. plus it works for your whole team. kinda nutty.

  • @cburton311 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2911323#Comment_2911323

Exactly the point. If survivor perks are nerfed further, it doesn't change the fact that the killers can still easily 3k or 4k for most of the spectrum of MMR by playing "dirty". The face camping someone to death as a strategy needs to die. It is fun for no one in a match, it is just highly effective and so gets overused. Tunnelling someone out 30 seconds into a match is also poor form, even if it was a survivor missplay and the victim was farmed. Do you think the guy that got deleted had fun?

These streaks people sight as important data only exist at the extremes of killer or survivor skill, and I'd wager represent less than 0.01% of the playerbase. That small percentage of people do not keep the lights on at behavior. Removing tools for either side for fun engaging chases, is NOT an answer.

Finally, dead hard is not a problem, I'm a midling killer at best( i play doctor and billy fyi) and you know what I do, I wait an extra 2 seconds in chase to bait out the dead hard and then down them. This is not rocket science and really, if a survivor BEATS me with a dead hard play, good for them. They used skill and did something cool. Because just pressing 'e' does not equal win. Maybe, the only nerf I could see be applied would be preventing its use to jump over a trap. Maybe.

Just waiting doesn't work if they dead hard to get somewhere. thats such a terrible argument. sorry.

No issue for killers either, it's just player skill issue.

See streamers doing 4K games 50 in row, if anything killers overpowered, its just easier to blame the game than learn to play. After the nerfs probably we will see 500+ games won in a row as killer with 3-4K

I guess if the Devotion 50, 8k hours streamer wins many games it must be because killer is overpowered right?

You should come back to read your post after playing at least a single game as a killer, it will bring a new perspective

Under the current system with SBMMR, every killer does have a chance to get a 4k.

Unless you mean you want a 4k every single game. Which, personally, I think adding bot survivors would help with that.

Or you mean that you want the highest skilled person to take the worse Killer against an equally skilled SWF and get a 4k, 50% of the time. If Otz is any indication, that's also possible.

I would say Nurse and Blight are able to go way past the skill level of the survivors and still get kills, especially the Nurse.

Blight, I've always thought of as a low skill killer, when I play him, he's very easy to learn. Nurse is extremely high skill, but she's also all muscle memory, once you've developed the muscle memory for Nurse, you're done.

    ---

Ok, I'm just being hypothetical here.

Say I'm playing Trapper, who is considered a bad killer but one that I really love playing. Even if I am struggling against a mid-level SWF, I'm still using the same amount of skill as I would playing a Nurse at the highest level of play, maybe even more skill. Because lets be honest, a Nurse going against a high-level SWF is easier than a Trapper going against a upper-mid level SWF.

Personally, when I win with Trapper, it feels more significant to me because I know the Trapper is more difficult to use than, say Blight. (I'm sure I would say the same thing if I spent the time to get the muscle memory down for Nurse).

If skill levels of both parties being equal is important for you, why not just play Nurse or Blight?

Easy to master? No, and that's objective.

No, you're not. Trapper is easy to play. He requires some knowledge of where to place his Traps but that's it, he's a basic M1 Killer with a situational, weak Power.

Nurse and Blight aren't exactly enjoyable to play on console, and even if they were, they're not Demogorgon

All of the killers goals are exactly the same: chase survivors, hook survivors and prevent gens from being done. Some killers have much better tools to accomplish this such as Nurse and worse tools to accomplish this such as Demogorgon. If you are equally skilled with both Nurse and Demogorgon, then you cap out with Nurse, because you are 4king every single group you go against. Most likely, you'll never cap out with Demogorgon, so it's very possible to be a higher skilled killer with Demogorgon than it is with Nurse, just because with Nurse can cap out.

If you make Demogorgon as good as Nurse, at what point does Demogorgon stop being Demogorgon. If you can transverse the map as quick as Nurse, that means that you stop using your teleport. That would make Demogorgon competitive in higher ranks but doesn't Demogorgon lose his essence at that point.

You should check out the developer thread on MMing, it might make you feel better about it.

For the purposes of matchmaking, we have a “cap” for skill ratings. Although your rating can continue to climb beyond this cap, you’ll be treated as if you’re at the cap for the purposes of matchmaking. This is in place to prevent the best players out there from climbing to a point where there’s simply nobody to match with.

By lowering this cap, we’re able to expand the pool of players in high skill matches, leading to more variety in the opponents you face. One match may be very close and competitive, but the next may be a little more laid back. This will also ensure that queue times don’t grow longer at higher skill levels.

Yeah i just read it myself and saw your quoting notification pop up.

From the looks of it (if they can manage what they theorize here) it might not be as bad and only the top half or less of the "mid-skill-section" might be in for a worse time as sacrifice for the top players "amusement".

But that remains to be seen and from i saw the last time i played, matchmaling didn't even do what they promised and for example o myself with 300 hours since release and intentionally throwing games after 8 hooks for over a year still sometimes got matched with several thousand hour players or even their swfs.

But even than the fact remains that they, similar to old ranked based mm, are planning to sacrifice mid level skilled players for the high skilled players fun which means that survivor that get boosted by swf and comms get easier killer to bully and streamer get survivor fodder for their win streaks. At least the low skill and new players might be saved.

The devs should stop coddling new players and should instead focus on keeping their old ones

  • I disagree.

If you are good at survivor you do not need most of the meta perks to win, you just have to have enough game sense and some sort of understanding of what is going on with the rest of the team so you are not wasting time.

If you are not in a chase or unhooking or cleansing a hex, you have to be a on a gen, and that's basically it, you have to remember the killer cannot pressure 4 people at once unless he is allowed (like people allow camping Bubba to 4k because no one is doing gens or trading).

Just be smart about not 3 gening and trading when needed and learn to loop and you are already good to go. You do not need COH or DH for that

I am currently prestiging Feng and I have been playing with lithe / windows since I did not have dh when I was in the P2 phase, so just messing around with some random perks and in most cases my chases were still okay and I managed to escape. In solo.

The biggest issue, and the one you actually should have talked about is that people who are new at killer play super scummy (camping/tunneling without any exception with noed slapped at the end) and that's the problem for the new players since Killer is much easier as beginner than Survivor. No one will want to stay after getting camped 1 min into the game

New players do not know how to use Dead Hard properly and will press it randomly in the open just to dodge a hit and go down 1 sec later and they certainly won't have Mikaela unlocked and leveled up the moment they start the game to even have COH.

They should just do it like other games and establish a new player friendly zone like until the reach devotion X or something like for example rainbow six siege doesn't let them play with non new players until account level 50 or like lol doesn't let you play ranked until account level 30. Then they can balance that level zone according to low skill and the rest from the top down.

But they also have to get a working matchmaking system then or anything else will just be for naught.

It does sound like the developers are going to be sacrificing mid-level players to high level killers so the matches will not be as stressful for high level killers, doesn't it.

Then again, that's the complaints I'm seeing on these forums. Matches are too stressful for high level killers and need to be less stressful. So I guess the way to solve that is to give them easy 4ks.

Seems like the 4 survivors fun wont matter as long killer mains are happy.

How is dead harding for distance any different then, lithe, sprint burst, or balanced landing. They all grant 150% speed for 3 seconds, which if I am doing my math right is a ~5m distance gain on the killer (4m/s * 150% = 6m/s for 3 seconds = 18 meters of distance traveled, killer travels 4.6*3 - 13.8 m or 4.4*3=13.2 m depending on running speed).

After dead hard do all these other perks need to get nerfed next?

Of course, perks should grant the user of the perk an advantage when used?

im not too bothered by DH personally as im not in High mmr as killer so most people dont use dh optimally but DH has no cons really. sprint burst for example, you cant run if its not on cooldown or you will activate it. which means you move around the map slower. balanced landing is much more situational than DH as it only works if you jump off something.

DH doesnt have a situational aspect other than be injured which unless a game is utterly one sided you should always encounter.

Bruh. This game caters to Survivors. The fact that you want MORE concessions to Survivor 'fun' shows your bias.

  • Further nerfs on Killers will make the game die outright.

The game is stressful for all killer across the board thanks to being the more micromanaging, nonstop action/concentration role, if the matchup is equal or favouring survivors. No one would say that it's stressful to kill less skilled survivor.

So that problem is still not solved at all. And please don't come me with everyone saying that they are at high MMR, we both know that most don't know and just say that to emphasize their claims "legitimacy" on both sides.

    I disagree.

Killers used to compare win as killer (3-4k) against escaping as surv (1 escape). Do you see more 4k or 4 escapes? Because I see more 4k

You know that this "cap" works both ways so high MMR 4men swf will also steamroll more mid MMR killer?

Guess not since it would tarnish your delusional picture.

Maybe.

If the survivor is in the middle of nowhere then yes it's easy to bait the Dead Hard and that is a situation where DH is not in anyway a problem. The problem is when they use it to get to a window or pallet they otherwise wouldn't have been able to, and in that scenario there is no way to bait it.

Yeah i said that, doesn't change that the other two instances aren't.

  • dbd's success was it's licenses

  • Further nerfs on Killers while buffing survivor will just kill the game instantly ^^

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/319742/further-nerfs-on-survivors-can-really-hurt-the-playerbase

Constant nerfs ? What are you talking about ? Last changes for the survivors :

    • Circle of healing
    • Exponential
    • DH server validation
    • Hit server validation
    • Soon the icon system

ATM there are not enough killers for the number of survivors playing. Actually it's the killer playerbase that is hugely hurt. And why do survivors are also leaving ? Because they are bored to have 10 minutes queue times and to face only Nurse/Blight.

And you are totally wrong on everything, you might clearly be a baby survivor as SWFs i face often bring multiple brand new parts and gen rush is insane.

you forgot boil over. honestly no need to nerf such a perk like that

  • I do agree. Against even a medicore killer using OP perks, only a top 4 man sweating in an unfun way has even a slight chance at winning.

In my opinion, the game is already at a breaking point. It is far too difficult for survivors to win. DBD is losing players every month because survivors have been nerfed too much.

  • Edit: Sorry, not adding any value to the conversation. My apologies to all.
