How many killer mains would stop playing if?
DBD became balanced and looping and camping were not allowed/viable anymore?
What if you all started playing the game the way it was meant to be played, and called out the devs then?
My thought is Dev's are allowing camping because they are allowing Looping.
So why give the DEVs a good reason to stop looping.
Comments
im not trolling, you just dont like my factual posts about how ridiculous your thread is.
did you really just claim that im ruining your dbd experience? you dont even have dbd experience to ruin, no offense.
I didn't lie.
I have played against experienced killers, laugh all you want but I'm not lying.
Leave me alone.
Lets just sit back and laugh when he makes another post tomorrow crying about losing again or that Freddy is OP.
A balanced game would bring in more players.
Killers don't want to run for hours in circles. Which was never a planned feature, unlike camping.
Every time a killer asks for killer buffs, survivors act like killers want free handouts.
Killers can pallet loop and Freddy is massively OP. Anyone who says otherwise is a crybaby noob killer main who want EZ 4k's dud
And there is no point in arguing with killers who are afraid of loosing their rank, to actually have fun anymore.
When was the last time anyone played freddy? they are all to busy trying to win.
Freddy ain't op, I have only seen Freddy bots
You know nothing about me to say I'm lying, so SCREW OFF JAIL BIRD!!!!
YOu are being an #########, I ain't a cry baby, I'm having fun on the game and thats what matters.
LEAVE ME ALONE BEFORE YOU REGRET IT...
Freddy is for rank 20 players, also he can't camp so he (for your standers) is useless.
Not as salty as a killer who can't land a hit on a survivor.
Also a professional DBD player said Freddy is weak
Freddy in the hands of a skilled player is op at rank 1 and he actually can camp you just don't see him doing it.
Well its good to know that someone deserves that rank one as freddy.
Any killer can be good, it just takes trial and error, so good to know.
The problem with looping is that there are too many pallets that you just can't mind game. If the survivor throws down the pallet you either need to break it and they run to the next no-mindgame pallet, or you need to bloodlust them which is a stupid solution to the problem (and I'm glad they are nerfing it). If all those pallets had a mind game where the killer could make them mess up and catch them then looping would become seriously hard since you need to consistently out play the killer. A survivor that could "loop" at this point would be very good survivors, but there is always room to mess up even for them. Right now there is no messing up, the killer just has to eat time no matter what they do.
As for camping, the game should reward players that leave hooks to chase other people, and stop this "first found, camped to death" nonsense. Something like you can't kill someone until you have gotten 2 hooks on 2 different survivors. Then they can't just catch the first guy the find, with Ruin/NOED, and just wait until he dies. He has to catch at least 1 other person. And maybe as a reward to really good killers that don't camp hooks and catch the next guy fast, if a killer has 2 on the hook it locks gen progress. Then the other 2 or 1 have to make saves, or hide until they die (scummy but sometimes there's no other option). This again would give killers even MORE reason to leave the 2 hooks because they know survivors can't do gens so they can go around and kick gens to slow down the game. Sure one of the 2 might get rescued but that's time you earned for yourself by getting 2 hooks.
please dont hurt anybody over the internet billy
Now you have reason to believe differently.
In one of them 3 survivors disconnected because I didn't went to pickup the downed survivor, but went instead for the flashlight wielder who was waiting nearby.
I play freddy alot alongside the nurse. You would be surprised how many people have forgotten how to counter him at ranks 1-4. I love getting salty messages from SWF groups saying "i ruined the game for them". It is quite hilarious.
Camping = legal and originally intended tactical gameplay
Looping = unintended abuse of different sized hitboxes, which Devs can't get rid of, because they do not dare touching their Spagetti code
One is a popular horror theme; baiting out more victims with on ealready injured mate.
The other is turning the game into a Benny Hill show.
/s
He plays different than most killers. But yes, i had surprisingly little problems with him on rank 1.
Why should killer stop playing then? IF the game became balanced and looping and camping would be removed, every killer mains secret dream would be fulfilled.
I prefered the old days of DBD when looping wasnt a thing, you juked the killer by using LOS, not by abusing 360 hitbox stuff and camping was really rare, tabgging and clicking didnt even really exist.
Now I play a few games, get so annoyed after my first chase victim gets a free escape as a non-obession DS taht I simply Alt F4 and play another game, just as cote suggested
Couldnt have said it better
Another motive might also be that it is a relatively simple strategy that's completely acceptable.
Is camping a good strategy? Unless the survivors are overly altruistic, no. Is it an honorable strategy? To most people it's not.
Here's the difference between camping and looping though.
Camping is a bad strategy that only one player per match can use that can be countered without perks (gen rush) or it can be crushed with your allies' perks (Borrowed Time).
Looping is a powerful exploit that 4 players can use in a match that can devastate the other team by wasting their time. Not to mention it can consume all 4 perk slots for those who don't want to blinded and run in circles around the map all game.
Sums it up pretty well
Looping isn't even that strong anymore. Its more about the second chance perks and looping infinites for survivors.
For killers, camping is still too strong. It was always one of the best strategies to 4k (proxy/bait camp first guy, win the 1vs3) and it singlehandedly wins low-mid rank games. I really believe, after the recent survivornerfs, that the base hooktime needs to be increased.
Could you elaborate on how the recent survivor nerfs have either decreased the loop or increased the camping? I must have missed those patchnotes...
In 2.0 palletvacuum got removed. Really big deal (no sarcasm)
Also double pallets got removed earlier this year.
Camping didnt get changed. Thats the whole problem.
Pallet vacuum was just survivors teleporting to the other end of the pallet while dropping it. Killers got their pickup vacuum removed at the same time. Which makes it easier to hit them, when they try to pick someone up who is under a pallet.
Double pallets still exist. The reduced number of pallets only affected a few maps (by 1 less pallet) but increased the pallets on most maps.
Killers got more perks that give them an incentive to leave the hook like BBQ and MYC. So camping has indeed cosiderably decreased.
I hope they dont overbuff pallets again, but they do feel unresponsive rn. If the changes make it live, pallets are basically in the release-state again. Lets see how it turns out. I'm happy the way they are right now...
Palletvacuum was a HUGE distance gain for looping and that got removed. Its a really noticable nerf, so i dont know why you want to ignore that. It was one of the most impactful changes for dbd.
The pickup vacuum was balanced with reduced pick up time. Fine by me, makes no difference tbh
Double pallet setups do not exist, except the minimum amount of pallets havent spawned, then they can fill up double pallet setups. And pallets have been decreased in general. There are no pallet spawns for double pallet setups regularly, which didnt happen before 2.0
I wasnt around in the early days so I don't know what pallets were like originally, but I do feel like the devs are homing in on the right balance for pallets.
nobody but yourself
saying the killer who gets bloodlust because he isnt able to outplay the survivor like the survivor do
Agree man, we're sailing in the right direction.
Pallets used to stun later, so they felt unresponsive like now. But you could pull them a bit earlier, not vacuum range though.
Indeed. Pallet vacuum was a huge thing. It gave survivors a huge advantage over killers. While requiring little to no skill to use them. Turning guaranteed hits into a miss. Looping is still possible, but not as rewarding as it was before. Since back then, the survivor got the best of everything. No risk during looping, save pallets and easy points for hitting the killer. Now they have to time it a little better. But i don´t see a problem as survivor. Pallets were never meant to be save.
I cant believe we played with vacuum for 2 years. So unbalanced and unrealistic.
I dont see palletlooping as problem for killers either, they're pretty balanced. The only remaining problem are too many safe pallets, but thats often map specific. Red forest or shelter woods only consist of safe pallet setups. Wouldn't hurt to bring in more variety or rework some safe pallets. That requires a lot of work though,.... soon.
I think the vacuum was introduced with patch 1.4.
Pallets are only part of a bigger problem. The differences in hit (or collision) boxes of killers and survivors. Also killers accelerate slower than survivors. This combination gives survivors which hug obstacles a speed advantage over the usually faster killer + relativly safe pallets.
Few survivors know how to juke the killer. Lose line of sight and vanish. I have a lot of respect for survivors which can do this. But it´s hard to learn and running in circles is way easier. So most people just do that.
The problem with increased hook time is, that the killer doesn´t has enough time as of now. Gens get repaired to fast and a camping killer loses, because survivors just rush the gens. If you give survivors more time on the hook, the killer will only get 1 kill at max during a match. Survivors don´t feel pressured to unhook and can keep on doing gens. All while the killer feels the pressure during the whole match, because he can´t protect all gens at the same time.
Last time i watched a horror movie, it was the victim that felt pressured and not the killer.
Vacuum was introduced in 1.1.1 around august 2016.
If only they would change hitboxes, that would fix palletlooping cleanly. Probably too risky and deep to change.
The hooktime really depends how long it takes to catch the first survivors. If you get it done fast and/or have ruin, you can safely camp him and win the game. So for 90% of the playerbase, camping is too strong. It's only really effectively countered if 3+ survivors have a genrush mentality which is basically r1.
What if instead of fixing hit boxes, they just put little nooks on the cover that survivors can get stuck too the killer can't (because they have a bigger hitbox). So survivors wouldn't be able to just hug the wall which is honestly easy AF to do. They would have to actually aim around the wall without getting stuck. You don't need a lot of these spots just maybe 1 or 2 on each set of loopable cover. When I'm survivor there are little nooks on some cover that really messes me up.
Sounds like an overly complicated bandaid fix. Very fitting for dbd, i'd dig it. As long as the hitbox difference gets nullified.
I'd honestly stop playing. A lot of killers fail to realize that having a chase based game is much better than a game where people just sit in corners with their thumbs in their ass all day. I just want the game speed adjusted. (I never camp, I just think that a game of loops is more fun than a game of immersion.)
The devs have been allowing camping even before the game was released...watch dev diary 3 killers.
However, not once have they ever legitimized pallet looping.
Doube pallets still exist, there is a common double pallet spawn on the corn map with the big house (cant remember map name). It has been a thing for ages now and I can confirm that it is still possible after 2.0 (not sure about latest patch though, rarely play anymore)
