Scream's theme is already great, I think suddenly having Ghostface pop up to jumpscare you and start a chase with more intense orchestral music would be terrifying. it would totally fit with the feel of the movies.

I'm still spooked by the Blight, he's hard to play well but it's super scary to suddenly hear his terror radius get rapidly closer in mere seconds because he's running across the entire map

My biggest reason for suspecting a Stephen King property is the Deathslinger. Iirc, he was going to be called the Gunslinger originally, but they changed his name later in development. Gunslinger also happens to be the name of one of the books in King's Dark Tower series, so it seems plausible that the devs changed his name to something as goofy as Deathslinger for the specific purpose of not pissing off Stephen King. Seems logical that they would only bend over backwards like that if they did or hoped to have something in the works.
Stephen King is absurdly hard to get a license from, BHVR already tried and failed, so I doubt that if they did get the rights to one of his works they'd go for the Dark Tower instead of the much more iconic Pennywise or Jack Torrance.

I already made a poll of this myself, it seems like most people agree that if the next chapter is licensed (which is kinda 50/50 right now with two leaks clashing against each other) it would be candyman. I'd like to give my reasons for why the others are unlikely.
F13: this is an extremely iconic killer, if he was added it would have absolutely been during the anniversary, not the three months after. the lawsuit against F13 also just recently ended, I doubt BHVR was working on that chapter before the lawsuit even ended.
IT: Stephen King is notorious for not giving out licenses, and all the games that WERE about his books had terrible reviews. BHVR has also stated that they've already asked for the license, but didn't get it.
The Thing: though the movie is incredibly well-known, there's not really one iconic killer, and it's arguably not even a slasher film. the power also seems difficult to make.
Pumpkin Head: honestly never heard of this movie before, so idk how possible this license would be
FNAF: technically possible, but I feel like it's unlikely that BHVR would have started working on it at a time where the idea was looked down on way more, it was only fairly recently that people started opening up to it. the license would also probably be reserved for when the film comes out, as so far all killers have had at least one movie and it'd probably generate a lot more hype.
Hellraiser: never watched it, but it definitely seems possible as BHVR has hinted at it a lot, even if just to throw us off. probably my second pick for the most possible next chapter.
Outlast: doesn't really have one iconic killer and all of the enemies are just humans with basic weapons, so they don't have special abilities that could be used as a power.
Resident Evil: with project resistance coming out, the chances of this happening are very small. that game's already a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, working with dbd would seriously hurt their sales tremendously.

If you did change his power to take 5 seconds less to cooldown, then I think you would need to completely change the recovery add-ons. Not just a nerf, but make them affect a completely different value. I suppose I wouldn't be completely opposed to this, but I strongly suspect that the people who propose slightly shortening his base recovery would not be in favor of outright deleting his considerable recovery add-ons while they're at it.
I don't see why you'd need to completely rework the addons if you shortened the cooldown. right now you can use your power about 16 seconds faster with the addons, if you nerfed those addons you could just make that the maximum recovery again or even make it longer if you really want to. I'm honestly just tired of endlessly needing to progress through the bloodweb instead of spending bp on other killers because ghostface is so weak without his addons.

I've lost several games because I couldn't find a hook in time, and any aura related perks are now completely useless, ESPECIALLY ranged ones. bbq has no function besides bloodpoints now.

I don't really see what this could do to help you, if it emits a terror radius they're gonna know where it is and just not go there until it's gone. if you throw it at someone, you probably already know where they are, and revealing them won't really do anything.

Realistically, I think it would be something else though.
my question was about who you think is most likely to be next, and though I'd love to see a FNaF killer in the game, I think it's very unlikely to be chapter 17. I personally also never really heard about candyman until I watched a deadmeat video about him, but he seems the most likely with the movie almost being released and tony todd following the dbd twitter and all that.

3 licensed in a row? Don't they usually go back and forth? Only time I can think of when they even did 2 licensed in a row was Ash vs Evil Dead + Scream in June last year and Stranger Things in September last year, and they compensated for that by doing 2 original in a row afterward, Oni + Yui and Deathslinger + Zarina.
there have been two instances where there were three licensed in a row so far. first was leatherface + nightmare on elm street + saw, then evil dead + ghostface + Stranger things. the only licensed chapter that wasn't in a row of three was the halloween one.

I wouldn't complain if he got in, but I'd way rather have someone else. If he did get in though, I'd want the game version or an original rendition.

The Joker is not really a slasher though, neither are the movies he's from horror films. I think that maybe the comic or Dark Knight versions of him could potentially work as a killer, but the Joaquin version would not work at all.

I'd like to see it, but you can't deny it'd be a bit hard to do. there are a ton of different SCPs, which one would they go with? I think SCP 173 is probably the most well-known one, but also the hardest one to implement.

The character itself is iconic and is apart of some amazing movies. I haven't seen the third movie yet but the first two were dope as hell.
The clown is loosely based off of John way e gacy, a sex offender/######### but no one really talks about that.

I chose pirates for the cosmetic theme, but honestly, I just want a pirate killer. I think any aquatic theme would be really cool, you could have a pirate with a boat, or a diver on an island... maybe even a big daddy.

yes, i do think that springtrap could work. he has a design that's not too hard to fit into dbd (especially if it's tweaked a bit) and there have been very cool killer concepts on the dbd subreddit for him. having an animatronic killer would make for some cool variation, but it's also not strange enough to be too far out there, as there is still a human corpse inside. i doubt it'll ever happen, but there's a movie planned, so who knows.
